I edited a thriller trailer in Adobe Premier Elements 9 following Todorov's narrative theory. I began with an establishing shot of a character walking into an apartment building, then cut to them walking up stairs using fade transitions. Subsequent shots included characters smoking and looking distressed, a confrontation between parents, and the discovery of a threatening letter. These established the disruption of equilibrium. Later shots showed characters running away in long takes without tripods to imply being chased. Intertitles with drifting text were used to connect scenes and inform the story. The trailer concluded by returning to a new sense of equilibrium with slowed music and intercut scenes of characters looking for help.
