2. Process
• First of all I had used the magnetic lasso tool
to cut her body out then I place her on a
black background so its simple but then I
decided to change it up and place her on
the background of the house we had
actually used in the trailer. I used the
magnetic tool to cut her eyes out then I
used the curves effect to make her eyes are
bright and stand out more red colour.
• I placed a black background as I thought
that would be my finial background but I
changed my mind and placed the house I
went to in the background and changed it to
black and white.
• Afterwards I had found a blood dripping
photo on the internet and I had placed it in
front of the house so it makes the audience
aware that they is blood and gore in the
trailer involved.

These are the steps I
did to create my film

• As you can see that they is fire crosses on the
background, I found them on the internet and I had
used them because it show that the ‘nun or mother
superior’ is evil and scary, also to brighten the
poster up and it will appeal to my audience.
• My movie title is ‘caliginous’ I thought this name is
perfect as it means dark, unilluminated, misty and
my film trailer is dark, mysterious and misty that’s
why I used this word as my title.

3. Process
• First of all I cut out her body as I wanted to edit the background darker as I went to the location in
the day so it was more safe and they wouldn’t of been any injuries involved. I edited her body
darker than her face to create contrast and to draw the viewers attention. I also drew a necklace
on her neck and placed a fire cross on the bottom of it to show that she is evil and mysterious.
• Afterwards I had got photos of a grave off the internet so I could place it in the background. In this
poster I am exaggerating how scary it actually is for the audience, but it could be seen as false
advertising, because of this I could get into trouble.
• I had to use the quick selection tool to cut out the 5 star review and place it on the front so that
people are more likely to buy the film.
• The way I have edited this DVD cover looks professional and it will get my target audiences
attention.

4. Process • I feel as though this dvd cover will attract my
target audience as it has a variety of different
colours. The contrast of dark and bright colours
creates a evil and mysterious feeling. The dark
background creates a scary atmosphere so its
clearly a horror movie. I added a quote onto the
front of the cover to add fear factor because
hearing that this film scared someone else,
makes people expect it to be even scarier.
• I like that it tells the audience what age
restriction there is to watch this, I feel as 15 is a
reasonable age to watch a horror movie but its
not that scary to scar them for life.
• I have placed the actors and the directors at the
top to show who they are and they need to
appreciated for taking part in my trailer. If
someone recognises a good actor written on the
front cover they are more likely to buy the film.
• I have also made 2 collectors edition disks in
with the original full film so it shows the
audience that it’s a popular film and it’s a great
movie to watch. Also having more content to
watch makes it more worth the money for the
customer.

• I feel as my film poster went well as It
turned out looking professional.
• I like the fact that the background is
dark and the rest is a mysterious
bright colours.
• I love the fact that I made the nuns
eyes more brighter red and they
stand out like there staring at you this
way the audience will get scared
before viewing the trailer.
• The fire crosses made the
background more sinister and more
creepy, the blood dripping down the
page is saying that she has killed
people before and now your next! An
her looking straight into your eyes say
so.
• I like that I have used a short but
catchy subtitle.

First of all I had to import all of my video footage onto my
computer.
Then I edited my title and the colour of the writing on Photoshop.
Afterwards I placed all the video footage in order so I knew how it
went into the trailer. I downloaded the music and sound effects off
the internet to add into the background.
Here to make a dramatic effect I had cut out two video clips and
made it look like it was cutting back and forth from the girl to the
boys walking. I added music into the background to make scene
more tense and to create anticipation. Also I added a zombie
moaning sound to make the girl more frightening.
Towards the end of the trailer I had to make it thrilling for the
audience, I used the razor tool to cut up the clip to make it look
like she was moving faster, this builds up even more tension and
gets the audiences heart racing. Also I kept the scary background
music all the way through so there are no silent clips. I placed a
heart beating sound effect in the background to create suspense.
Overall I like how tense and scary the trailer is from using these
techniques.

7. process Overall I feel that my work turned
out better then I thought as I didn’t
think I made good enough clips but I
managed to make it work by using
my video editing skills.
Even though the filming was in the
daylight it still worked as they was a
storyline to why the boys went to
this abandoned house.
In my initial plans I said I was going
to place transitions like quick cuts
and jump cuts and flash cutting, I
managed to in but because I didn’t
have use most of these tools. I
couldn’t over edit the trailer
because it would be unwatchable
for people with epilepsy etc.
Here is a list of sound effects I used
in my trailer: Heart beating,
screaming, zombie groaning, wind,
instrumental music and scary
background music.
I filmed my trailer in a forest and at an abandoned
house. The locations I chose helped to create the
scary atmosphere I wanted. I like the order in which
the events of the trailer took place.
I feel as my target audience is perfect for this trailer
as its not too scary for them. The trailer fits into the
15 rating guidelines, as it would not be suitable for
children, however it doesn’t feature any violent or
sexual content.

8. Process
Weaknesses of my project:
• I wish I could of planned and spent more time developing a better storyline
before creating my trailer
• The transition between the title and the first scene features a two second long
blank screen, this is a weakness because there is no content and this could
bore the viewer without actually watching the full trailer.
• The cutting technique wasn’t accurate between the boys walking and the nun
‘following’ them. It looked like she went backwards after one of the cuts. This
is weakness because it doesn’t look professional as a result, somebody might
not want to buy it as it looks poorly edited.
• The screen in some of the scenes is very shaky, due to poor camera
stabilisation. This is a weakness because it makes the film look unprofessional
and also this could make it hard to watch for some viewers.
• The scream at the end scene doesn’t synchronise with the nun. This is a
weakness as it sounds poorly edited due to this it doesn't look professional
and it doesn’t look realistic. This makes it less scary.
