5G is not just another generation of mobile communications technology. 5G can be seen as "the network of networks" and it is going to have a profound impact on all human activities, the economy and the society. In fact, 5G can be seen as the digitalization catalyst for industries, as a variety of use cases will be either enhanced or created by the use of 5G. Immersive gaming, autonomous driving, remote robotic surgery and augmented reality support in maintenance and repair situations are just some of the use cases that will mostly benefit from the introduction of 5G. But what is the business potential of 5G? Ericsson, together with Arthur D. Little recently made a unique study in order to understand the industrial digitalization revenues for ICT players in 8 key industries. We have shared these findings with the IEEE 5G Summit's audience (Thessaloniki, July 11, 2017).

Connected vineyards is an example of how the Internet of Things (IoT) is enabling the realization of the Networked Society, highlighting the ways new technology can be used to benefit business.
Ericsson envisions that in the future, everyone and everything that can benefit from being connected will be connected – we call this the Networked Society. This vision will be made possible with the rise of new technologies and business ecosystems. The Internet of Things (IoT) – where everyday objects are connected to the internet – will play an important role in this opportunity for growth, as it has the potential to transform every industry. Connected vineyards is an example of how the IoT is enabling the realization of the Networked Society, and highlight the ways that new technology can be used to benefit business.
The unique scale and security of this technology are particularly important when it comes to expanding applications in other industries, such as transportation, health, construction and manufacturing. These sectors also benefit from devices and objects that are securely connected to an internet network, allowing data to be analyzed with a view to improving day-to-day operations.
Ericsson’s IoT security service can be reused for large-scale IoT, Machine-to-Machine and industry use cases, without any adaptations. We can supply the software to the relevant IoT device and gateway developer community to shorten the time-to-market and increase uptake of the service. Not only does Ericsson provide a global connectivity solution for emerging business models, but we also ensure safe transfer of data and complete security.

Ericsson lays out its vision for the evolution of cellular IoT and launches new offerings - enabling service providers to tap growth opportunities from industry digitalization.
The Internet of things is spreading its influence on all the verticals we can think of. From healthcare to agriculture, connected devices are proving to be more and more valuable everyday.
On the consumer side, very much has been said about wearables and smart home appliances. But one of the industries the most impacted by the IoT revolution is definitely the automotive sector.
The internet of things is changing the way car dealers sell cars and consumers drive them. The emergence of new products and new services will ultimately craft a new economy for the car industry. If they want to survive, the various players of the automotive industry, from carmakers, to OEMs, to insurers, will have to adapt their business model.
Fortunately, most of them have already jumped on the bandwagon. All the players of the automotive industry are now catching up, competing with each other to launch ever more innovative features.
In this presentation, we explore how the IoT is impacting the automotive sector and what new services are emerging.

Mark Bünger, VP of Research at Lux Research, presents the "Automakers at a Crossroads: How Embedded Vision and Autonomy Will Reshape the Industry" tutorial at the May 2017 Embedded Vision Summit.
The auto and telecom industries have been dreaming of connected cars for twenty years, but their results have been mediocre and mixed. Now, just as a potentially costly standards battle looms between DSRC and 5G wireless communications technologies, those technologies may be leapfrogged by embedded vision – enabled by the combination of rapidly advancing image sensors, machine vision algorithms, and embedded AI chips. These technologies are not just changing the car itself; they enable new driving patterns and business models that are fueling new competitors and transforming the industry.

Driving Forward Digital Technology and the Automotive Industry in Asia-PacificOrange Business Services
The connected or driverless car is no longer something of the realms of science-fiction, it is very much a reality. The trend is expected to continue too, as the connected car makes its way into the mainstream much as the original automobile did a century ago. APAC will see more sophisticated autonomous driving options emerge and more non-traditional digital players will begin to offer automotive solutions. Connected cars will continue to grow as APAC’s consumer needs go on changing, demographics continue to alter and urban mobility trends shift.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
