Pixlr is a simple online photo editing tool which fulfills most of the editing needs. In this tutorial, a before-and-after comparison of each tool makes the editing more intuitive and gives the users a quick choice.
4. Hand Tool - Used to move around the map
Distance Tool – Used to measure distance on improvements
Area Tool – Used to measure area in terms of square footage, acreage, etc.
Height Tool – Used to measure height on buildings that require a height
measurement for assessment
Identify Tool – Used to ID one parcel or a group of parcels in the same
area
Print Tool – The maps used on Connect Explorer can be exported to a PDF
file to be printed
Layers Tool – Used to overlay specific informative layers over working map
5. Hand Tool
• Click & drag, with left mouse button, to move around the map
• Release mouse button to stop moving
6. Distance Tool
• Click & release left mouse button on the starting point of your choosing
• Move mouse (pulling yellow distance line) to the ending point you have chosen
• Once you have reached your end point – double-click left mouse button & the
distance measured will appear
• Distance tool is best used from the top-looking-down view
• CAUTION: When measuring outbuildings with roofs – remember to account for
roof overhangs (gutters & soffits)

8. Area Tool
• Click & release left mouse button at the starting point of your choosing
• Move mouse (pulling yellow area box) to the next point of the area you are
measuring and click left mouse button to pin the point
• Move mouse again and pin as many points as you choose to outline the area
you are measuring
• When finished outlining the area you are measuring, double-click left mouse
button and the square footage of the area will appear

units you can choose from, including

10. Height Tool
• Click & release left mouse button on starting point of your choosing
• Move mouse (pulling yellow height line) to the end point, double-click left
mouse button & the height you are measuring will appear
• When measuring height with pictometry – always measure from BOTTOM
TO TOP
• Height tool should only be used on outbuildings – usually Agricultural,
Commercial or Industrial only

12. Identify Tool
• To use Identify – locate the parcel you choose to identify, select identify
button & left click (once) on the parcel
• A menu will appear to the right of the map screen with options where you
can choose what you want to identify. These options include subjects like:
property parcel, property structures, neighborhood & soil acreage, to name a
few
• You may identify a specific point on one parcel or draw a polygon (similar to
the area tool) to identify multiple parcels at once

15. Print Tool
• When you need a “print screen” of the map you are using you may use the
print tool to export the image to a PDF file for printing
• You may also use the Alt + printscrn buttons on your computers keyboard
to print directly to your computer’s printer
16. Layers Tool
• Layers are utilized by clicking on the layers button – a drop-down menu will
appear with options of what layers you may want to apply to the map you are
working with
• Select any layers you choose (there is no limit to how many can be accessed
at one time) then move your mouse back to the map to exit the layers screen
– the layers will appear as you select them
