This document defines and provides examples of different types of conjunctions: 1. Coordinating conjunctions join together words, phrases, and independent clauses (e.g. for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so). 2. Subordinating conjunctions introduce dependent clauses and tie them to independent clauses (e.g. because, if, until, when, as, since). 3. Correlative conjunctions come in pairs and relate one sentence to another (e.g. both/and, whether/or, either/or, neither/nor, not/but, not only/but also).
