The Silence Of The Lambs
Exceptionality and Geniuses
The term genius is associated with an array of diverse connotations. When reviewing the literature, it
is vital to note that a specific definition and approach to measure whether or not a person is a genius,
is rather complex. Garber, M. (2002) declares genius as a special inflation and over time has become a
commodity, an ambition, and even a lifestyle. The underlying question is: how, and what makes an
individual a prodigy? One may argue that completing an intelligence quotient (IQ) test will suffice and
determine whether an individual exemplifies genius like tendencies, as others argue otherwise. There
are tendencies and certain behaviours that geniuses exhibit differing them from other individuals who
are more or less considered normal . Therefore, relationships with geniuses tend to differ as their
intelligence and typical demeanor is peculiar. In the film The Silence of the Lambs directed by
Jonathan Demme, one of the main characters, Hannibal Lecter portrays unusual behaviour. Based on
his questionable character, one may argue that genius like behaviour is conspicuous; this is seen
through his relationships, his intellect, and overall demeanor.
The relationships observed in the movie The Silence of the Lambs depicts thoughtful but suspicious
intent. A female FBI trainee, Clarice Starling was put on a case to get to know Hannibal Lecter s
character; his thought process, responses, and interactions were monitored thoroughly. Clarice

PICC Line Analysis
When hearing the term PICC line it maybe rather confusing; that is unless you re in the medical
profession or have a family member that has one. First, the name that groups all of them together is
called; a central venous catheter. A PICC line is just one of many. It is described as a peripherally
inserted central catheter; otherwise called PICC line. It is a long, thin, flexible tube that is inserted
under the skin into a vein in the arm rather than a vein in the neck or chest. ( WebMD ). The purpose
of the PICC is to give medicines, fluids and blood products over an extended period of time. Those
with cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, Lyme disease and total parenteral nutrition or (TPN) are
common reason that a PICC line could be used for. PICC lines are thought to be a safer and simpler
way to distribute needed treatments. Fewer than 10% of patients have trouble or generate a venous
injury. ( Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters and Other Intravascular Devices , 2014). ... Show

The materials used to make up the PICC line is silicone or polyurethane and has a radiopaque

also vary; it may have a single or double lumen or it can have an open or closed end. The specific
device should be selected based on the number of lumens necessary for treatment, being aware of the
probable infection increases with the number of lumens. The most common used PICC line is the 5

Operation Desert Storm Outline
January 12, 1991 U.S. Congress passes a resolution authorizing the use of force to liberate Kuwait.
Operation Desert Storm begins four days later with air strikes against Iraq. Iraq retaliates by launching
eight Scud missiles into Israel.
February 27, 1991 The Gulf War ends one day after Iraq withdraws its forces from Kuwait and sets the
oil fields on fire. A cease fire is declared and Iraq accepts the condition of disarmament after one
hundred hours of ground fighting. On April 3, the United Nations Security Council passes Resolution
687, calling for the destruction and removal of the entire Iraqi chemical and biological weapons
stockpile, plus ballistic missiles with a range greater than 150 kilometers. Iraq also agrees to withdraw

`` The Price Of Success ``
Vince Lombardi once said, The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the
determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.
Donald Trump successfully won the 2016 election and will have four more years to successfully carry
out his term. From childhood to adulthood Trump has shown a charismatic personality, therefore, there
are plenty of insights predicting his actions during his presidency. In Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs
there are five stages. In order, the stages are: Physiological, Safety, Love and Belongingness, Esteem,
and Self Actualization. Trump flip flops between two of the stages: Love and Belongingness, and
Esteem. One of Trump s traits of the Big Five is narcissism, which in the McAdam s (2016) article, it
states that people display this trait because they lack early life mirroring. This means that the parents
failed to lovingly reflect on their child s budding grandiosity, in return, leaving the child desperately
seeking affirmation from others throughout their lives. Love and Belongingness reflects Trump s
narcissistic tendencies in this way. Trump shows the Esteem stage with his need to be the best, be
successful, and prove that he can be a successful president. As president of the United States, Trump is
trying to fulfill his Self Actualization need with Self Transcendence by helping others and fulfill his
inner potential as president. Trump bases his actions and goals on the

Bon Fires. Bon fires were set across the nation to guide airplanes as visual reference points. That idea
only last two years as in 1923, the Postal Service installed rotating beacon lights along their routes to
guide airplanes, which are still used today to aid pilots in finding an airport at night time. Jumping
ahead to 1926, Congress passed the Air Commerce Act of 1926 which established rules for pilots to
follow, established airway, and operating aids to navigation (NATCA). A few years later, the city of St.
Louis hired the nation s first air traffic controller Archie W. League. He controlled airplanes with
colored flags indicating them to go or to hold (NATCA). Later these flags would be replaced by light
guns aimed at the pilot to indicate the same information. Flying (no pun intended) through to 1930 s,
1940 s, and 1950 s, the aviation industry exploded with advancements to control facilities and two
way radio communications to keep tabs on where pilots were. It wasn t until a crash in 1956 over the
Grand Canyon that radar surveillance was upgraded to verify airplanes were where they said they
were. Now the controllers have everything they need They have voice with pilots, and they have radar
on pilots, but things weren t all smooth sailing for long. In 1981, controllers were finding themselves
under tremendous amounts of stress...forced to work up to 20 hours of overtime a week , and suffering
from equipment outages (NATCA). This resulted

Introduction
Depreciation expense is the way that the use of an asset is matched with the revenue that is generated
from the asset on the income statement during the time period being reported. Each asset used in a
business has a useful life as disclosed by the company s depreciation policies for each category of
asset. The other piece of calculating depreciation is the assumed salvage or residual value. There are
several different methods of depreciating an asset:
1) Straight line = [pic] 2) Double declining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What does it gain or lose by doing so? How does this relate to the company s overall strategy?
Singapore maintains one of the youngest average fleet ages in the industry at 5.1 years old. They were
depreciating their aircraft over 8 years with a salvage value of 10% up until 1989 and then increased it
to 10 years and 20% salvage value. The average depreciation rate per $100 for Singapore Airlines was
$11.25 prior to this change and $8.00 after, compared with Delta s $6.00. The company is majority
owned by the Singapore government, but did not receive any subsidy from the government. Its stock
is, however, followed by over 20 investment analysts worldwide. In 1993, their net profit dropped
from $922 to $741 million in Singapore dollars as depreciation expense as a percent of total operating
expenses had grown from 14.8% to 15.8% in one year. Staff bonuses were cut from 3.4 months of pay
to .5 months of pay in one year. The other issue that that was hurting their profitability was that their
strategy was not in line with their utilization rate of only 71.3%, down from 78.9% in 1989. They
should have been focusing on the amount of depreciation they were paying expensing as a percent of
operating expense much sooner. With profits and utilization rates declining constantly over the last
five years, a focus on the depreciation methods could have helped them reduce the decline in net
profits. With an aggressive capital expansion program

Hydroxystilbamidine, Potassium iodide, Tolnaftate, Undecylenic acid, Clioqinol, Terbinafine,
Ciclopirox olamine, Triacetin, Benzoic and Salicylic acid. Abuhammour and Habte Gabr (2001)
reported that, fungal infections have been classified into two distinctive classes: systemic and
superficial. Consequently antifungal agents are classified under two major headings, systemic and
topical agents .There are only a few systemic antifungal drugs available for use and these are polyenes
(Amphotericin B), pyrimidines (Flucytosine), azoles (Ketoconazole,Fluconazole and Itraconazole) and

1-Pentyl Ethanoate Lab Report
Aim To prepare and purify an ester: 1 pentyl ethanoate, using pent 1 ol and ethanoic acid. An
annotated reaction showing this reaction is shown below: Hazards Throughout the practical
investigation, there were a variety of safety precautions implemented. This not only prevented
physical injury, but allowed the efficient progress of the practical investigation in a safe manner. For
instance, pentan 1 ol, the alcohol utilised to synthesis 1 pentyl ethanoate, is relatively flammable due
to the hydroxyl functional group attached to the molecule. Therefore, in order to prevent severe burns,
a laboratory coat and safety glasses were worn. The experiment was additionally performed whilst

At room temperature (25°C), esterification reactions are relatively slow, therefore requiring the rate of
the chemical reaction to be increased for the products to be formed efficiently. This is implemented,
by using a catalyst, such as concentrated sulphuric acid (H2SO4 (aq)), as well as by heating the
mixture: using a heating mantle. As a result, the energy of the reactants can be greater than the
activation energy, increasing the rate of reaction. Hence, as the reactants are relatively volatile, so
reflux apparatus such as a pear shaped flask and a Liebig condenser were used, to minimise the
amount of reactants lost, as well as allow the reaction to take place at the highest temperature possible.
In addition, boiling chips were added prior to reflux, to prevent bumping and a decrease a loss of
volatile reactants, during the reflux

College Essay On Down Syndrome
Down syndrome is a congenital disorder resulting from a chromosome defect. Down syndrome affects
people of all ages, race, and economic status. It causes an increased risk of health problems and
developmental issues. Researchers have found that centuries ago there were people who seemed to
depict the same features of those with Down syndrome today. In 1866, John Langdon Down was the
first to identify Down syndrome as a disorder. Before he described it as a disorder, those with Down
syndrome were killed, abandoned, or excluded from society. Many were also institutionalized and
received improper treatment because of the uncertainty of the disorder. In 1959, the French physician
Jérôme Lejeune identified Down syndrome as a chromosomal condition. Instead of the usual 46
chromosomes present in each cell, Lejeune observed 47 in the cells of individuals with Down
syndrome.
Down syndrome occurs by nondisjunction. Nondisjunction is the failure of a pair of chromosomes to
separate during egg, or sperm, formation. The embryo ends up with three copies of chromosome 21
when the defective chromosome s egg joins with a normal sperm ... Show more content on

Although there is no direct treatment for Down syndrome, there are treatments for the complications
that go along with the disorder. According to the Mayo Clinic, persons born with Down syndrome
have a higher risk of heart defects, leukemia, infectious diseases, obesity, and other related
complications (Mayo Clinic Staff). There are available treatments for these conditions such as surgery,
chemotherapy and radiation, and regulated diets. The defect in the chromosomes in a person with
Down syndrome causes their immune systems to be quite weak. These weak immune systems cause
them to be much more susceptible to infectious diseases such as strep throat or chickenpox, which can
typically be treated with

Learning Styles And The Learning Style
In this essay I will be exploring the importance of learning styles and the effectiveness of them to
student nurses, providing evidence from learning theories and also acknowledging David Kolb s
experiential cycle (1984). Furthermore, I will be discussing my dominant learning style, providing the
advantages and disadvantages of my learning style on my learning and development, considering the
various ways I can improve my learning. I will also explain my weaker learning style and express the
different ways I can improve it, in making it an effective learning style for me to improve the quality
of my learning.
The Oxford dictionary of English (2010) defines learning as the acquisition of knowledge or skills
through study, experience or being taught . Each individual has their own preferred style of learning,
for example some individuals may prefer visual learning rather than text based learning (Hughes,
2002). Due to each individual having and understanding their own preferred method of learning, this
helps them to process information and learning new things.
As a student nurse, it is vital that you understand how you learning because, this could have an impact
on your learning. Adding to this, being able to identify your learning style will help you to make an
understanding of something you do not understand. As a student nurse, I believe that having
understood my preferred learning style, I have been able to complete my assignments and how to find

Market structure reflects all the most important aspects of the market the number of firms in the
industry, the type of product produced, the possibility to enter and exit of firms, number of customers,
the ability of a single firm to influence the market price.

case, each of the suppliers to take into account the reactions of other suppliers to changes in market
activity. Products manufactured oligopoly may be homogeneous, e.g., aluminium or differential such
as cigarettes and automobiles. For example, due to the fact that it requires a huge financial cost, very
few companies can afford to enter the market of oil refining or production of steel. In some industries,
requires a certain level of technical and marketing skills, which is an insurmountable barrier for many
potential competitors. Companies on the oligopolistic market try to avoid price wars due to the fact
that this approach is costly to all involved in the war.
Examples of companies in Australia: Toyota, Ford, British American Tobacco.
3. Monopolistic competition
Monopolistic competition occurs when potential competitors of the company are trying to develop a
differential marketing strategy in order to capture market share.
There are several firms, but different marketing structure, although similar products.

Types of Sparkling Wine
Sparkling wine normally stands out because of its fizzy appearance as well as the effervescence wine
taste, due to the significant amount of carbon dioxide. Sparkling wine is produced through four main
methods: Method Traditionnelle/ Champenoise, Mthode Ancestrale, Method Charmat and the
Injection method. All of these methods utilize two fermentation processes, as opposed to just one as in
the still wines. The sweetness of the sparkling wine is determined by the amount of sugar added after
the second fermentation as well as the aging.

Why Independence Is Important And How It Is Vital For The...
At MJLK, LLP we are further educating ourselves on Rule 101 of the AICPA Code of Professional
Conduct: Independence. To properly learn more about why independence is important and how it is
vital for the success of our accounting firm we analyzed the PwC Securities LLC case provided by
you. Our firm decided to focus on four key topics to hammer in the idea of independence: SEC
punishment, financial services, value added fee arrangements, and prohibited tax services.
1) SEC Punishment
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) acted in a timely and appropriate manner when
addressing the forbidden arrangements that were discovered from PwC and PwCS. Although the
punishments were deemed harsh, the repercussions were appropriate in this case. The harsh nature of
the punishments stemmed from the speculation of the SEC that PwC and Coopers Lybrand officials
were well aware that the fee arrangements that were made were banned. The AICPA and SEC govern
the rules regarding independence and conflicts of interest that may arise and these companies were
well aware of this governance and oversight prior to arranging the contingent fees. There is a distinct
breach of independence that is formed from the actions that were made, that deserves a harsh
punishment from the SEC. Without punishment from the SEC, there would be a lack of oversight with
controlling companies from making arrangements to compromise independence and properly integrate
internal controls.

The Is A Philosophical Theme Taught By Epicurus
Epicureanism is a philosophical theme taught by Epicurus, this theme that stresses the goal of a joyful
and a pleasurable life. In the Hellenistic Age, epicureanism was extremely influential. Epicurus, the
founder of Epicureanism, is best known for his different personality, unlike all the other ancient
philosophers, excluding Socrates (O Keefe). Epicurus accumulated a group of disciples and taught
them, after that he became known as the philosophy of the Garden. The wisdom theory, epicureanism,
is a form of the hedonism theory that describes different types of pleasure, different types of desires,
the virtues, the importance of friendship, and death. Epicureanism is a philosophical theory that is a
form of hedonism. Epicurus once said, That the only thing that is intrinsically valuable is one s own
pleasure; anything else that has value is valuable merely as a means to securing pleasure for oneself
(O Keefe). This quote from Epicurus shows that pleasure is important to the value of happiness in life.
But how is Epicureanism a type of hedonism? The answer is that, Epicureanism is a form of hedonism
because they both believe that pleasure is what leads to happiness. Since they both believe that
pleasure leads to happiness, the way to know the difference between the two is that hedonists believe
that the people must find a way to increase their own pleasures, whatever they might include and
Epicureanism is the belief that people must control their own pleasures based

Essay On How A Bill Becomes A Law
How a Bill Becomes a Law Creating laws is the U.S. House of Representatives most important job.
All laws in the United States begin as bills. Before a bill can become a law, it must be approved by the
U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and the President. The road a bill takes to becoming a
law is a long and tedious process. First, the proposed bill goes through the House of Representatives.
Laws begin as ideas. These ideas may come from a Representative, or from a citizen. Citizens who
have ideas for laws can contact their Representatives to discuss their ideas. If the Representatives
agree, they research the ideas and write them into bills. When a Representative has written a bill, the
bill needs a sponsor. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Representatives say or select yes, the bill passes in the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill is then
certified by the Clerk of the House and delivered to the U.S. Senate. When a bill reaches the U.S.
Senate, it goes through many of the same steps it went through in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The bill is discussed in a Senate committee and then reported to the Senate floor to be voted on.
Senators vote by voice. Those who support the bill say yea, and those who oppose it say nay. If a
majority of the Senators say yea, the bill passes in the U.S. Senate and is ready to go to the President.
When the bill reaches the president, he has three choices. He can: sign and pass the bill, refuse to sign

Rorschach, By Alan Moore
Merriam Webster Dictionary defines a superhero as, a fictional character who has amazing powers
(such as the ability to fly) or a very heroic person ; yet, many of the characters in Watchmen have no
supernatural power and are immoral by most precedent societal standards. Alan Moore, in the graphic
novel Watchmen (1986 1987), asserts Rorschach as an example of deontology. Moore supports his
thoughts through dialogue and illustration. The author s purpose is to juxtapose philosophical beliefs
by comparing their varied flaws through differing narrators points of view. The author takes a
condescending tone in an effort to enrage his target audience of adult males. This paper seeks to
illustrate, qualify, and challenge Moore s claim that Rorschach is a deontologist.
Moore sets an example through the character Rorschach that all men should be protectors of their
society. In Watchmen, he portrays Rorschach as a vigilante hoping to save people from the evils of
wrong doers. With the threat of nuclear attack, the world is in turmoil. Rorschach investigates the
murder of fellow Watchman, Comedian, and warns other superheroes while enlisting the help of Nite
Owl in order to find out who is behind the latest attack. After Dr. Manhattan, a god like superhero, is
forced to leave earth for Mars, Rorschach is set up and placed in jail for murder. Nite Owl, now
convinced Rorschach s theory that someone is trying to harm the Watchmen is true, frees Rorschach
from jail and they join

A Research Study On Hunger Free Colorado
Introduction This study constitutes an attempt to induce higher income households to donate a greater
percentage of their disposable income to charitable causes. The way in which it seeks to achieve this
goal is through the administration of an online survey whose primary intent is the elicitation of
dissonant processes, which may serve to enhance the subjective valuation about the charity, Hunger
Free Colorado. According to their website: Hunger Free Colorado leads efforts to connect families and
individuals to food and nutrition resources, and to create positive changes in systems, policies and
social views, so no Coloradan goes hungry. By working at the federal, state and county levels, we
streamline business processes and adopt best practices that will help alleviate hunger throughout the
state. Considering the following statistics, it is clear why Hunger Free Colorado s work is so
important: Nearly 1 in 7 Coloradans struggled with hunger in 2013, facing times when there was not
enough money to buy food for their families or themselves (Colman Jenson, Gregory, Singh, 2013).
More than 1 in 5 Colorado households with children (22%) reported food hardship, facing financial
challenges to put food on the table (Food Research and Action Center, 2013). More than 1 in 8
Coloradans lived in poverty, including 1 in 6 kids, during 2013 (Bishaw Fontenot, 2014). Although

Hate Crime In America
Hate crime has been an ongoing issue in America. The Federal Bureau of Investigation report released
in 2014 recorded 5928 hate crimes and 7242 victims. Hatred and antagonism are not new to American
society; it s only getting worse and more ingrained gradually. It is striking to know that the
communities America has alienated, such as African Americans and women, have always been
integral elements in its society. To better comprehend victimization, the subsequent aspects will be
analyzed: ethnicity and religion.

Victimization is a consequence of the weak terrorizing the weaker. Individuals that commit acts of

Enterprise Architecture is the link between strategy and implementation. It is a top down view of the
structure of systems; it includes the fundamental organization of a system, embodied by its
components, their relationships to each other and the environment, and the principles guiding its
design. It can be defined as:
A means for describing business structures and processes that connect business structures.
www.sei.cmu.edu/architecture/glossary.html There are four areas that are commonly accepted as the
components of the overall frame work. These are:
Business Process.
This includes strategy, governance, organisation, and key business processes.

managed across the enterprise.

Time to market.
Development can be speeded up and it also ensures that the selected solution is the best fit and allows
for future growth in response to the business needs.
It can also ensure that an organization is not tied to one particular vendor for a solution. Furthermore it
can reduce costs by removing multiple parallel systems with one integrated system. It can also
highlight opportunities for building greater quality and flexibility into applications without increasing
cost.
Finally, by looking at the business process it can identify new ways of thinking about how the process
can be improved which in turn could provide some competitive advantage.
The primary purpose of Enterprise Architecture is to inform, guide, and constrain the decisions for the
enterprise, especially those related to IT investments. The true challenge of enterprise engineering is to
maintain the architecture as a primary authoritative resource for enterprise IT planning. This goal is
not met via enforced policy, but by the value and utility of the information provided by the Enterprise
Architecture. Source: A Practical Guide to

Essay On The Montgomery Bus Boycott
Imagine being deprived of your human rights just because of a difference of skin color. This is how
man African American people felt during the times of segregation in the 1955. One the thousand ways
African Americans fought back was the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The bus boycott was made
successful by the will and perseverance of the African Americans in the late 1950 s. Furthermore to
explain how the will and perseverance of the African Americans in the late 1950 s made the boycott
successful is stated by Buggey J., Danzer, G., Mitsakos, C., Risinger C. America! America!, The bus
driver told Rosa Parks that she would have to give up her seat to a white person. She refused and was
arrested. The next evening, black leaders, many of them church ministers, met to ... Show more

For months, the buses were almost empty because most of the riders had been black. Then, the boycott
spread to white businesses in downtown Montgomery. This example boldly illustrates how the start of
the bus boycott and the confidence that it will be successful helped the African Americans persevere
through the boycott. To continue, another strong example to show how the perseverance made the bus
boycott successful is the progress it made in a short amount of time. One boldly put together piece of
evidence from Excerpt from a letter written by Jo Ann Robinson, May 21, 1954, shows the progress of
the boycott, There were several things the Council asked for: 1. A city law that would make it possible
for Negroes to sit from back toward front, and whites from front toward back until all the seats are
taken. 2. That Negroes not be asked or forced to pay fare at front and go to the rear of the bus to enter.
3. That busses stop at every corner in residential sections occupied by Negroes as they do in
communities where whites reside. We are happy to report that busses have begun stopping at more
corners now in some sections where Negroes live than

Frost s Mending Wall, By Robert Frost
Introduction
With reference to Robert Frost s poem, Mending Wall , the repairing of the wall is understood as both
a verb (action) as well as in the form of an adjective (abstract). Looking at the word mend/mending , it
is a lot easier to interpret with respect to the action with regard to the Mending [of a] Wall as opposed
to something which is more abstract and a lot more challenging to attain. When looking at the word
mending as a verb in connection to the poem, the physical aspects come into play than that of abstract
(i.e. relationships).

Brongniart s grouping of the true reptiles into chelonians, saurians, and ophidians has been retained, in
essence, in modern systematics.
In 1807 Brongniart published Elementary mineralogy Treaty, a work assigned as a textbook for his
and Haüy s courses at the Faculty of Sciences and the Natural History Museum. Like other
mineralogists at this time, he could not easily distinguish some fine grained rocks from true simple
minerals.
Brongniart s early studies in zoology and mineralogy coalesced in the geological work that made him
famous throughout the scientific world. Cuvier had already begun his series of spectacular
reconstructions of extinct mammals from the Paris region; these fossils clearly belonged to several
distinct periods, but he needed a reliable clue to their relative ages. He and Brongniart therefore
collaborated in surveying the region and determining the order of the strata in which the fossils ...

But this extension of Tertiary stratigraphy over a wider geographical area posed the fundamental
problem of geological facies. Rocks of the same age could not be expected to have the same
lithological characters if they were deposited under different conditions in different areas. Even within
the Paris region Brongniart had recognized lateral changes in lithology; on a wider scale the changes
became more general. It was this that led him to stress the primacy of fossil evidence over that of
lithology as a criterion for age, wherever the two sources of evidence were found to

Sir Robert Borden s Role as Canadian Prime Minister
Our first duty is to win, at any cost! Sir Robert Borden played an important role as Canadian Prime
Minister during World War I, and while he is to be praised, he also to be held accountable for his
actions; especially in the passing of Bills through parliament. Sir Robert Borden had not a great vision
but more so a motto to live up to (to strive for), a country to lead in a worldwide war, and decisions
that if not taken in a certain light, would have disrupted the newly forming peaceful dominion into a
divided house.
Through the study of Dr. Tim Cook s writing, in the Journal of Military and Strategic Studies, Volume
13, Issue3, Spring 2011, it displays Sir Robert Borden as what would be a typical well off successful
Canadian. He had the belief that he was like many Canadians and that his task as the Prime Minister
during World War I was a single minded victory and that the country would damn the costs. He had a
vision that Canada would be known as neither a colony nor disputed territory, but as a single unified
nation without a colonial tie to the Empire. He was a solid Prime Minister for his time, he did what the
majority of people would not, and so he was not exceptional but highly regarded. He went through the
challenges and issues head strong and somehow pulled through, and he transformed soon afterward.
Sir Robert Borden originally was never in politics as his choice of career, but when the Conservatives
called upon him, he was obliged to join. He was very

Lawmakers Create Crimes to Prevent Crimes Essay
Lawmakers created attempted crimes to prevent the commission of crimes before they take place.
They also sought to protect the safety of the public by allowing police officers to stop the continuance
of criminal activity. Attempted murder is the incomplete act of trying to kill someone. It is a serious
criminal offense that in all but a few cases of mitigating circumstances can result in substantial prison
time (www.attorneys.com). Attempt is when a person, with the intent to commit an offense, performs
any act that constitutes a substantial step toward the commission of that offense. There are three

Yet, Jack is guilty of attempted murder (he showed specific intent to kill so he is substantively liable
for murder because he played some causal role in bringing about the death). On the other hand,
attempt is a specific intent crime, even if the underlying substantive offense is a general intent crime.
For example, factual impossibility defense would be rejected by virtually every modern court, because
the defendant had an intent to commit the crime and took actions that would led to a complete crime.
Under the MPC test to determine whether an attempt has occurred, the only requirement is to show
that the suspect has done (or omitted to do) something that constitutes a substantial step in a course of
conduct, which must be planned for the commission of the underlying crime. The sole inquiry is into
whether the accused person s conduct strongly matches his or her criminal intent. According to the
Model Penal Code (MPC), the intent requirement can be met even though a defendant acted with a
substantial certainty that a certain result would occur. For instance, Jack intended to shoot his gun at
Bert, with knowledge that Pratt was sitting in the car with Bert and could almost certainly be killed,
making it easier for Jack to be convicted of attempted murder. This is because Jack knew with
substantial certainty that a certain result would occur, that Bert or Pratt or both could be killed. The
conduct element known as actus reus is essential to the crime of attempt. Jack

The Importance Of Chemical Interaction
Kinetics is essentially the study of reaction rates and how they can be affected. Factors such as
concentration, pressure, temperature, and enzyme activity, are commonly tested regarding their impact
on the rate of a reaction (Khan Academy, 2017). It is important to recognise and understand the
components that affect the rate of chemical reactions as this allows control over the reaction process.
Chemical reactions progress naturally at different rates. A chemical reaction involves the
rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of substances as they change into other substances
by the breaking of bonds in reactants and the formation of bonds in products (Wilbraham, 2002).
Collision theory can be used to explain why chemical reactions proceed at different rates. Collision
Theory states that atoms, ions and molecules must collide in order for a reaction to proceed and form
products (Stubbings, 2017). Thus, the higher frequency of successful collisions, the faster the reaction
rate will be. Kinetic theory states that particles of matter are in constant motion thus, kinetic energy is
the energy acquired as a result of an object s motion (Wilbraham, 2002). In order for collisions to be
successful however the molecules must acquire a minimum amount of kinetic energy called their
activation energy and they must collide at a precise orientation. The rate of reaction can be modified
with the appropriate knowledge and understandings of the factors affecting the collisions of

Comparing Life Of Pi And The Tyger By William Blake
Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and The Tyger by William Blake can be seen as comparable from numerous
viewpoints.
Though one is a novel and the other is a short poem, the two pieces of writing can be thoroughly
analyzed on their perspectives and themes to highlight important aspects in each.
The stories contain a similar animal theme and both question God, yet they differ in their views on
God.
A similar aspect in the two stories is the animal theme.
When Pi is trapped on a lifeboat, his only company is a Bengal Tiger. It was in this circumstance that
Pi understood the animal need for survival. Pi says of his transformation from a strict vegetarian into
someone who expected to kill to survive, that, I descended to a level of savagery I never imagined
possible. (218). Everyday, Pi felt like he was at a crucial point in his life, since he didn t know whether
he would live to see tomorrow, especially with Richard Parker on the lifeboat. This is when Pi s
animal instincts kicked in and mirrored that of the tiger s. The animal inside of him, and his survival
instincts ended up plainly evident in his battle for survival.
In the poem The Tyger , the animal theme is exhibited through the narrator s relentless questions of the
tiger. In the poem it says, What immortal hand or eye, Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? (23 24). This
happens to be the narrator s way of asking who would dare to create an animal so vicious and
dangerous. Throughout the poem, the speaker asks various questions about the ferocity of the creature.
Be that as it may, this is the nature of a tiger. They are wild animals that are dangerous, and act on
instinct.
In the two stories, the animal theme depicted conflicts with civilization. Pi was forced to abandon his
knowledge and behaviour from the civilized life he once led, in order to embrace his animal instincts
and survive. In The Tyger , we can see the contempt of the speaker while considering the behaviours
of the wild animal. By looking at this similar element from the two stories, it is easier to perceive how
the two cases may be seen. Pi could be looked upon like the tiger, in that they were similar in their
animal ways. Many individuals would not have the strength to do what Pi

Parents Whose Child Died From A Drug Overdose
Introduction
Parents whose child died from a drug overdose not only are grieving the loss of their child, they are
also susceptible to mental health issues, and may experience a greater amount of grief (Feigelman et
al., 2011). In part because drug related deaths tend to be viewed as unfavorable, with the parents often
being blamed (Feigelman et al., 2011) (Guy, 2004) (da Silva, Noto, Formigoni, 2007). Furthermore,
parents experience feelings of guilt for not interceding, and preventing the death of their child
(Feigelman et al., 2011) (Guy, 2004) (da Silva, Noto, Formigoni, 2007). Moreover, due to the social
and physical effects felt after the loss of a child, parents need additional support to potentially avert
any negative effects (Aho et al., 2014) ) (Arnold Gemma, 2008; Hogan Schmitt, 2002; Kreicbergs,
Lannen, Onelov, Wolfe, 2007; Murphy, Johnson, Cain, Das Gupta, Dimond Lohan, 1998; White,

Essay about Good Man Hard to Find
Good Man Hard to Find O Connor s A Good Man Is Hard to Find
In A Good Man Is hard to Find, Flannery O Conner really puts the reader in the middle class mode and
throws a little religion at us. By this I mean that she takes us to an important part of her mind and soul.
One could even say that she lets the Devil come out in her own little way.
In reading A Good Man is Hard to Find, we find ourselves in a setting of a lower middle class family

OConner was trying to put the question of Religion to the reader. What has happened to the World ? It
had become complicated. Here you have a dear old lady just trying to get her only son to take her
where she wants to go. Consider the Christian idea of evil as opposed to a divine nation of the good.
The characters usually are acting from right intentions, but they end up attempting to inflict their ideas
of what is good on those who don t agree them, those not so fortunate. She shows us how violent the
recipients of this good can become and how they resist it and react to it , Religion that is. Who was the
momentary messiah, the on the spot Jesus the Judas mother giving up her son in hopes that she might
live? These are questions I thought O Connor was asking in A Good Man is Hard to Find.
Grandma, I believe it is all her making and doing. She brought the family to the situation. She
provoked the Killer. The killer s statements about his life especially his own father reflects he too was
subject to religious questions. and the fact that the lifestyles of the southern whites were descending is
evidence of society s demise is blended into the story, and presented through an interesting generation
gap.
The gap to me is between the son, mother, kids and killer. The Son was a whimp and a momma s boy I

Legacy, what is Legacy? As a nurse there is history and meaning behind everything that we do and
stand for, this is based on our nursing legacy. Merriam Webster dictionary defines legacy as:
something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past (Merriam
Webster, 2015). The theoretical basis for our nursing interventions and knowledge is wrapped up in
the legacy of our predecessors. Nursing Theory is defined by a belief, policy, or procedure proposed or
followed as the basis of action . Nursing theory is an organized framework of concepts and purposes

By blending information gathered through the use of Roy s adaptation model the nurse was able to
identify Mr. M s ability to change and adapt to a new low residue diet. Through using this model of
nursing care the nurse was able to identify barriers to learning and change in Mr. M. Not only by
teaching Mr. M about diverticulosis and diet modification, but including his daughter in assisting with
accountability, ensuring that his daughter would assist with meal preparation. Mr. M was able to
demonstrate his ability to learn by identifying on a list of foods, which were low residue. Mr. M s
overall outcome was a short forty eight hour hospital stay and no relapses for two years. The second
case study that will be evaluated by this writer is the study of Mrs. C, 43 female. Mrs. C was seen in
the emergency department for pelvic pain, and vaginal discharge. During the nurses initial assessment
Mrs. C confided in this writer that she is currently homeless and preforming sexual favors for money
to feed her addiction to methamphetamines. Based on the patient s vaginal swabs it was identified in
the emergency department that the patient had bacterial vaginitis. It was undetermined at the time of

Piracy In The Elizabethan Era
Although pirates were popular in the Elizabethan Era, they are now negligible. There are anti piracy
groups who despise and are against piracy. From receiving support from the government, they expect
the anti piracy groups to make legal impacts on piracy cases. Even though schools talk about it and
may even have a brief lecture about modern pirates and about today s pirates, they have deteriorated
over the years. Somalia is an old fashioned country in Africa where they are not updated on today s
clothing and technology showing that they re still accustomed to old traditions which include piracy.
Ultimately, piracy s attire evolved throughout the past six hundred years, but the reasons pirates are
remembered, why people wanted to become a pirate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their weapons and clothing may be more updated, but what they sail on and their main goal of piracy
has not changed. Ultimately, piracy in the Elizabethan Era may have evolved over the past six hundred
years, but there are numerous traditions and customs that are still precise to modern day piracy.

  • 2. The Silence Of The Lambs Exceptionality and Geniuses The term genius is associated with an array of diverse connotations. When reviewing the literature, it is vital to note that a specific definition and approach to measure whether or not a person is a genius, is rather complex. Garber, M. (2002) declares genius as a special inflation and over time has become a commodity, an ambition, and even a lifestyle. The underlying question is: how, and what makes an individual a prodigy? One may argue that completing an intelligence quotient (IQ) test will suffice and determine whether an individual exemplifies genius like tendencies, as others argue otherwise. There are tendencies and certain behaviours that geniuses exhibit differing them from other individuals who are more or less considered normal . Therefore, relationships with geniuses tend to differ as their intelligence and typical demeanor is peculiar. In the film The Silence of the Lambs directed by Jonathan Demme, one of the main characters, Hannibal Lecter portrays unusual behaviour. Based on his questionable character, one may argue that genius like behaviour is conspicuous; this is seen through his relationships, his intellect, and overall demeanor. The relationships observed in the movie The Silence of the Lambs depicts thoughtful but suspicious intent. A female FBI trainee, Clarice Starling was put on a case to get to know Hannibal Lecter s character; his thought process, responses, and interactions were monitored thoroughly. Clarice ... • 3. PICC Line Analysis When hearing the term PICC line it maybe rather confusing; that is unless you re in the medical profession or have a family member that has one. From childhood to adulthood Trump has shown a charismatic personality, therefore, there are plenty of insights predicting his actions during his presidency. In Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs there are five stages. In order, the stages are: Physiological, Safety, Love and Belongingness, Esteem, and Self Actualization. Trump flip flops between two of the stages: Love and Belongingness, and Esteem. One of Trump s traits of the Big Five is narcissism, which in the McAdam s (2016) article, it states that people display this trait because they lack early life mirroring. This means that the parents failed to lovingly reflect on their child s budding grandiosity, in return, leaving the child desperately seeking affirmation from others throughout their lives. Bon fires were set across the nation to guide airplanes as visual reference points. That idea only last two years as in 1923, the Postal Service installed rotating beacon lights along their routes to guide airplanes, which are still used today to aid pilots in finding an airport at night time. Jumping ahead to 1926, Congress passed the Air Commerce Act of 1926 which established rules for pilots to follow, established airway, and operating aids to navigation (NATCA). A few years later, the city of St. Louis hired the nation s first air traffic controller Archie W. League. He controlled airplanes with colored flags indicating them to go or to hold (NATCA). Later these flags would be replaced by light guns aimed at the pilot to indicate the same information. Flying (no pun intended) through to 1930 s, 1940 s, and 1950 s, the aviation industry exploded with advancements to control facilities and two way radio communications to keep tabs on where pilots were. Merle, MBA February 27, 2013 Emma Waage Roarke Stone Tim Gould Introduction Depreciation expense is the way that the use of an asset is matched with the revenue that is generated from the asset on the income statement during the time period being reported. Each asset used in a business has a useful life as disclosed by the company s depreciation policies for each category of asset. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What does it gain or lose by doing so? How does this relate to the company s overall strategy? Singapore maintains one of the youngest average fleet ages in the industry at 5.1 years old. They were depreciating their aircraft over 8 years with a salvage value of 10% up until 1989 and then increased it to 10 years and 20% salvage value. The average depreciation rate per $100 for Singapore Airlines was $11.25 prior to this change and $8.00 after, compared with Delta s $6.00. The company is majority owned by the Singapore government, but did not receive any subsidy from the government. Its stock is, however, followed by over 20 investment analysts worldwide. In 1993, their net profit dropped from $922 to $741 million in Singapore dollars as depreciation expense as a percent of total operating expenses had grown from 14.8% to 15.8% in one year. Staff bonuses were cut from 3.4 months of pay to .5 months of pay in one year. The other issue that that was hurting their profitability was that their strategy was not in line with their utilization rate of only 71.3%, down from 78.9% in 1989. They should have been focusing on the amount of depreciation they were paying expensing as a percent of operating expense much sooner. With profits and utilization rates declining constantly over the last five years, a focus on the depreciation methods could have helped them reduce the decline in net profits. Our firm decided to focus on four key topics to hammer in the idea of independence: SEC punishment, financial services, value added fee arrangements, and prohibited tax services. 1) SEC Punishment The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) acted in a timely and appropriate manner when addressing the forbidden arrangements that were discovered from PwC and PwCS. Although the punishments were deemed harsh, the repercussions were appropriate in this case. The harsh nature of the punishments stemmed from the speculation of the SEC that PwC and Coopers Lybrand officials were well aware that the fee arrangements that were made were banned. The AICPA and SEC govern the rules regarding independence and conflicts of interest that may arise and these companies were well aware of this governance and oversight prior to arranging the contingent fees. There is a distinct breach of independence that is formed from the actions that were made, that deserves a harsh punishment from the SEC. The answer is that, Epicureanism is a form of hedonism because they both believe that pleasure is what leads to happiness. Since they both believe that pleasure leads to happiness, the way to know the difference between the two is that hedonists believe that the people must find a way to increase their own pleasures, whatever they might include and Epicureanism is the belief that people must control their own pleasures based ... In 1804 Pierre Latreille elevated the batrachians into a separate class, the amphibians, Brongniart s grouping of the true reptiles into chelonians, saurians, and ophidians has been retained, in essence, in modern systematics. In 1807 Brongniart published Elementary mineralogy Treaty, a work assigned as a textbook for his and Haüy s courses at the Faculty of Sciences and the Natural History Museum. Like other mineralogists at this time, he could not easily distinguish some fine grained rocks from true simple minerals. Brongniart s early studies in zoology and mineralogy coalesced in the geological work that made him famous throughout the scientific world. Cuvier had already begun his series of spectacular reconstructions of extinct mammals from the Paris region; these fossils clearly belonged to several distinct periods, but he needed a reliable clue to their relative ages. Sir Robert Borden played an important role as Canadian Prime Minister during World War I, and while he is to be praised, he also to be held accountable for his actions; especially in the passing of Bills through parliament. Sir Robert Borden had not a great vision but more so a motto to live up to (to strive for), a country to lead in a worldwide war, and decisions that if not taken in a certain light, would have disrupted the newly forming peaceful dominion into a divided house. Through the study of Dr. Tim Cook s writing, in the Journal of Military and Strategic Studies, Volume 13, Issue3, Spring 2011, it displays Sir Robert Borden as what would be a typical well off successful Canadian. He had the belief that he was like many Canadians and that his task as the Prime Minister during World War I was a single minded victory and that the country would damn the costs. He had a vision that Canada would be known as neither a colony nor disputed territory, but as a single unified nation without a colonial tie to the Empire. He was a solid Prime Minister for his time, he did what the majority of people would not, and so he was not exceptional but highly regarded. Yet, Jack is guilty of attempted murder (he showed specific intent to kill so he is substantively liable for murder because he played some causal role in bringing about the death). On the other hand, attempt is a specific intent crime, even if the underlying substantive offense is a general intent crime. For example, factual impossibility defense would be rejected by virtually every modern court, because the defendant had an intent to commit the crime and took actions that would led to a complete crime. Under the MPC test to determine whether an attempt has occurred, the only requirement is to show that the suspect has done (or omitted to do) something that constitutes a substantial step in a course of conduct, which must be planned for the commission of the underlying crime. The sole inquiry is into whether the accused person s conduct strongly matches his or her criminal intent. According to the Model Penal Code (MPC), the intent requirement can be met even though a defendant acted with a substantial certainty that a certain result would occur. For instance, Jack intended to shoot his gun at Bert, with knowledge that Pratt was sitting in the car with Bert and could almost certainly be killed, making it easier for Jack to be convicted of attempted murder. • 33. The Importance Of Chemical Interaction Kinetics is essentially the study of reaction rates and how they can be affected. Factors such as concentration, pressure, temperature, and enzyme activity, are commonly tested regarding their impact on the rate of a reaction (Khan Academy, 2017). It is important to recognise and understand the components that affect the rate of chemical reactions as this allows control over the reaction process. Chemical reactions progress naturally at different rates. A chemical reaction involves the rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of substances as they change into other substances by the breaking of bonds in reactants and the formation of bonds in products (Wilbraham, 2002). Collision theory can be used to explain why chemical reactions proceed at different rates. Collision Theory states that atoms, ions and molecules must collide in order for a reaction to proceed and form products (Stubbings, 2017). Thus, the higher frequency of successful collisions, the faster the reaction rate will be. Kinetic theory states that particles of matter are in constant motion thus, kinetic energy is the energy acquired as a result of an object s motion (Wilbraham, 2002). In order for collisions to be successful however the molecules must acquire a minimum amount of kinetic energy called their activation energy and they must collide at a precise orientation. The rate of reaction can be modified with the appropriate knowledge and understandings of the factors affecting the collisions of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though one is a novel and the other is a short poem, the two pieces of writing can be thoroughly analyzed on their perspectives and themes to highlight important aspects in each. The stories contain a similar animal theme and both question God, yet they differ in their views on God. A similar aspect in the two stories is the animal theme. When Pi is trapped on a lifeboat, his only company is a Bengal Tiger. It was in this circumstance that Pi understood the animal need for survival. Pi says of his transformation from a strict vegetarian into someone who expected to kill to survive, that, I descended to a level of savagery I never imagined possible. (218). Everyday, Pi felt like he was at a crucial point in his life, since he didn t know whether he would live to see tomorrow, especially with Richard Parker on the lifeboat. This is when Pi s animal instincts kicked in and mirrored that of the tiger s. The animal inside of him, and his survival instincts ended up plainly evident in his battle for survival. In the poem The Tyger , the animal theme is exhibited through the narrator s relentless questions of the tiger. In the poem it says, What immortal hand or eye, Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? (23 24). This happens to be the narrator s way of asking who would dare to create an animal so vicious and dangerous. Throughout the poem, the speaker asks various questions about the ferocity of the creature. Be that as it may, this is the nature of a tiger. They are wild animals that are dangerous, and act on instinct. In the two stories, the animal theme depicted conflicts with civilization. Pi was forced to abandon his knowledge and behaviour from the civilized life he once led, in order to embrace his animal instincts and survive. In The Tyger , we can see the contempt of the speaker while considering the behaviours of the wild animal. By looking at this similar element from the two stories, it is easier to perceive how the two cases may be seen.
