Advantages And Disadvantages Of Drones
INTRODUCTION
In the recent years, the SAF is moving towards a more automated technology in order to cope with
the shrinking birth rate and a leaner Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) workforce. The SAF have been
purchasing newer technologies from the US to replace its current fleet of technology such as F–
15SG, upgrading its current fleet of F16, procurement of the F–35 fighter jets, acquiring advance
weapons, and unmanned UAVs. Leveraging on new technology is the way forward for the SAF to
enhance its war capabilities and training effectiveness. The USAF in particular have been
developing newer technologies such as 2unmanned F16 developed by Boeing which are undergoing
air test currently, armed drones such as "Reaper" and "Predator" drones that ... Show more content

The Studio System Essay
The Studio System
Key point about the studio system could be:
Despite being one of the biggest industries in the United States, indeed the World, the internal
workings of the 'dream factory' that is Hollywood is little understood outside the business.
The Hollywood Studio System: A History is the first book to describe and analyse the complete
development, classic operation, and reinvention of the global corporate entities which produce and
distribute most of the films we watch.
Starting in 1920, Adolph Zukor, head of Paramount Pictures, over the decade of the 1920s helped to
fashion Hollywood into a vertically integrated system, a set of economic innovations which was
firmly in place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following essay will examine how these changes took place, and what impact it had on the film
making industry in America. We shall also examine how the system relates to the current production
methods used in film making. The main issues raised within the text will be summarised concisely
within the conclusion. Before a film reaches the cinema screen, and its audience it must go through
a three stage process. Firstly and most obviously it has to be produced, following this it must then be
distributed, and finally exhibited. Before the introduction of the studio system in the 1920s all of
these processes were controlled separately. Although this gave the makers of films, such as directors
and producers, room to express their creativity it placed a heavy constraint upon the amount of
movies that could be made, and financial profits. However, despite Hollywood's uneasy birth, by the
1920s it had become one of the worlds leading film producers (Dirks, 2002). This was largely due to
the introduction of the producer, or studio syste
Cinema is a collaborative art so it is difficult to determine the influence of one particular person on a
film. The only way to truly judge a single person's contribution to film is to look at their entire
filmography, in that way you can begin to distinguish patterns that can be identified with
individuals. With this in mind, it is

Lockheed : Core Competencies, Key Strengths, And Key...
Milestone 2: Core Competencies, Key Strengths, & Key Weaknesses
Lockheed Martin Corporation is the largest Defense Contractor in the world with $46 billion in net
sales in 2015 (10–K, 2016). Has been the prime contractor in many of the Air Forces biggest
projects in recent years. No other contractor has been awarded a fighter or attack aircraft contract
since 1988.
Strengths
Market Leading Position. Lockheed Martin is the world's leader in combat and logistical aircraft,
anti–missile systems, maritime surveillance and recon systems, space systems, and unmanned
aircraft. In conjunction with providing systems they are also the largest supplier of IT services,
system integration, and training to the United States Government. They have ... Show more content

Advanced Technologies. Lockheed Martin is bringing decades of experience of developing cutting
edge technologically advanced systems to the marketplace. Through their legendary Skunkworks
program, they have developed the F–117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, U–2 Dragon Lady spy plane and
the SR–71 Blackbird. These are craft were operational long before the public even knew of their
existence. The SR–71 developed in the 1960s still holds many speed and altitude records. The F–35
takes this experience and incorporates it. It is a fully stealth aircraft that uses advanced geometrical
shape and electronic methods to remain undetectable. Each F–35 is fully linked to all other aircraft,
being able to "see" what they see. The pilot wears an advanced helmet that allows them to see
"through" the aircraft using 6 infrared cameras mounted around the aircraft, virtually eliminating
any blind spots.
Weaknesses
Cost Overruns. "The F–35 program has become the single most expensive project in the nation's
history. It has been beset with serious technical problems, major schedule delays, cost overruns, and
the F–35's performance capabilities are seen by many as inferior to the nation's potential adversaries'
fighter aircraft, if not inferior to the aircraft it is intended to replace." (Hughes, p. 1, 2015). The F–
35 was to have a "fly away" cost of $89–200 million depending on the variant. But this has soared to
$208–304 million currently. This stems from the

Movie Review : ' Hell '
"Hell, I 'd be happy to just find a girl that would talk dirty to me."
– Goose, Top Gun
In the 1986 f ilm, Top Gun, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, played by Tom Cruise, is a young Naval
aviator on the aircraft carrier U SS Enterprise. His Radar Intercept Officer, Nick "Goose"
Bradshaw, played by Anthony Edwards, received the chance to train at the Navy's Fighter Weapon
school at Miramar, in San Diego, CA. Flying planes for the Navy seems like a breeze, but the
conditions that can come with it are not quite like that. Jared Heger, a Naval Flight OFficer (NFO,)
for the United States Navy, opens up about his life in the Navy and the hardships that come as well.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Jared Lee Heger is an NFO for the United States Navy. Within his job, or
community as Jared refers to it, he flies in the EA/18G Growler, which is the Navy's Electronic
Attack Jet. His jet and communities mission is to launch off an aircraft carrier or land to carry out
electronic attacks and suppression of enemy air defenses. "In the jet, there is the pilot in the front
seat, who flies the plane and then there is me, in the backseat. I am in charge of Communication and
Navigation. I'm pr etty much Goose from Top Gun," he explains. Their plane has systems that are
used to be able to detect and suppress any enemy threats toward the jet that enter on a target to
employ different types of weapons. The system is also used to target and track enemy aircraft along
with their other fighter jets.

Lockheed Martin Case Summary
Overall, Lockheed Martin is a highly successful corporation. The organization is a leader in the
aerospace and security industry and is enjoying large financial gains. However, given market
volatility the corporation there are a few modifications the organization may want to consider. A
brief summary of the organization's situation and, when appropriate, recommendations follows. An
organization's mission, vision, values, and goals drive organizational decisions and, when effective,
positively impact employee and business performance. Lockheed Martin's mission, vision, values,
and goals are a perfect fit for the organization. The corporation has effectively communicated them
to the workforce, they are well–understood, and successfully achieved. The organization should
continue to analyze the market, its workforce and competitors, along with its mission, vision, ...

In Lockheed Martin's case, the organization has developed a strategy–to expand international sales,
meet or exceed customer needs and reduce costs, and innovation–that will enable the corporation to
continue to succeed in the marketplace. The corporation should consider leveraging its current
portfolio to move into more commercial markets to help reduce the dependency on the United States
government. Lockheed Martin already has several sources of competitive advantage that it uses
effectively to gain leverage in the market place. However, given that the budget of its main customer
is highly volatile the corporation should look to other sources of competitive advantage. It would be
advantageous of the corporation to use its innovate workforce and emerging technology to develop
"green" aircraft that use less fuel and emit less harmful emission. This would be a win for the
environment, the customer, and the corporation–and clearly position the corporation as an industry

My Biological Name Is Dang Thanh Tam
My biological name is Dang Thanh Tam. I was born in Da Nang Vietnam in 1972 and do not know
whom my biological Mother is or if she had survived the Vietnam War. My biological father, an
African American, and might have served in the United States Army or the United States Marines.
Due to the extent of the war, it is highly likely he did not survive the war as well. Much of the
Vietnam War is something hard for me to understand. Growing up as a child, young adult, and as an
adult, this is a very sensitive topic. Adopted and raised in Vermont and the state is a mostly white,
racism was also a sensitive topic and something I experienced.

Today, many Vietnam Vets will not speak about their horrific memories from the Vietnam War and
the war still haunts them thirty years later. Was this a senseless war?
Many people today would say the United States, once again, stuck their nose into a war when it
should not have. Is this just another record of accomplishment for the United States or the history
behind wars or the history of wars repeating themself? Why does the United States government
approve of another ruler or president of another country but 20–30 years later, they either are
creating a coop or creating a war to over throw the ruler of that country?
Just like Vietnam, many refugees would not be in this country if there were no wars. In a similar
way to Vietnam, there has been Lebanon 1982–1984, Grenada 1983, Panama 1989, Gulf War 1991,
Somalia 1993, Kosovo 1999, and now the Global War on Terror 2001 and all the wars in between
and including the ever present and real danger the War Against the Islamic State (ISIS) 2014? Is war
simply about power and money?
Although, I am hesitant about the intentions of the United States government especially when it
comes to issues on war, I am grateful for the United States military and proud to be a War Baby
because I would not be alive today without the Vietnam War. I am grateful for the opportunities I
have received throughout my life, even with a topic that is highly controversial and many questions
remain unanswered. Did the United

1.How did 9/11 change the way we travel? Before the 9/11 attacks, which changed how we travel,
airport security was minimal, with just X–rays and metal detectors. No one got a body search, and
almost no one's carry on bag got checked. No aircraft was required to shut the cockpit door, and air
marshals weren 't everywhere, only 33 Federal Air Marshals were active on 9/11. Friends and
Family were authorized to go all the way to the gate, and people were allowed Swiss Army Knifes

and most popular sport across the world. It is impressive the way that a single sport can attract
passionate fans no matter their race and culture. In fact, some people may even say that soccer starts
to be a religion, a way to express masculinity, a way to express loyalty for their nation, a way to of

problems that emerge before, during and after the game were related to political disputes between
the right hand and the left hand. Both groups of soccer hooligans were trying to defend their
territory implementing uncivilized acts that harmed a great amount of fans. On the other hand, the
BBC documentary shows La Barra Brava which is a name for organized supporter groups of
football teams in Latin America. This style of supporting is very similar to European ultras. It
includes standing throughout the match, fighting, singing and other enthusiastic and detrimental
behavior to this beautiful game, just to defend their territory. In Argentina these groups are known as
barras brava, which translates as something like "wild gangs." Basically, each team has its ordinary
fans, and then its own Barra Brava. Calling the Barras Brava "aggressive soccer supporters groups"

Air Force Analysis Paper
This paper is an analysis and evaluation of the United States Air Force (USAF) Lightweight Fighter
(LWF) program and the first prototype aircraft that it produced, the YF–16. The purpose is to focus
on the program's successes in light of three project elements that are common to all projects
(whether correctly and properly implemented, or not). Those elements being project requirements,
opportunities and risks, and the project team. The success of the LWF program really cannot be
understated. Emerging from the program was the F–16, an astounding technological achievement
that has affected the course of the USAF and how it approaches technology transition, management
strategies, and rapid procurement and program execution (Aronstein & Piccirillo, 1997, p. 203).
Project Requirements During the mid–to–late 1960s, and at the height of the Vietnam War, it
became painfully obvious to the USAF, and also to observers from outside the Air Force and
Department of Defense (DOD) that a new approach was needed to maintain and enhance the United
States' technological lead on adversaries such as the Soviet Union and the North Vietnamese in the
realm of air combat superiority. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This desire, along with new advances in aircraft propulsion, flight–control, and structures
technologies, led to the formation of the Lightweight Fighter program in 1972. In conjunction with

prototype program incorporated new DOD policy that simplified and greatly reduced the proposal
lengths for new weapon system acquisitions. According to Aronstein & Piccirillo, (1997), one of the
key foundations of the new program was that emphasis would be placed on early hardware
demonstration rather than on studies and analyses as in recent past

Ned Linch Motivations
I am writing to give Ned Linch my highest recommendation for admission to The Graduate School
at Auburn. I have known Ned for over 20 years and I flew F–16s with him in the Alabama Air
National Guard to include combat over Iraq. He has always exceeded my expectation with his
performance and attitude. He is a selfless and above and beyond performer who works well with
others to accomplish the team's goal. I've personally flown with him in both the military and in our
civilian jobs at Delta. I can attest to his outstanding character and ability to work with others
especially in high pressure situations. Ned's hard work and dedication is evidenced by his sterling
academic and flying record in the USAF and at Delta Air Lines. He has been a distinguished
graduate of every formal Air Force flying school he attended. He has been an instructor in the F–16,
as well as the Chief of Flying Safety where he focused on human factors to reduce mishaps. Ned has
lead combat missions over Iraq with success and is a highly competent, mature, and professional
aviator. He is also a well published author on various safety topics to include human factors, pilot
error, and fatigue. I have never met anyone who can focus their energy toward a goal like Ned

Personal Narrative: The US Air Force
"What is this?" shouted Liam as he was running wildly to the Beechcraft C–12 Huron "They call
this a military aircraft?" It was 2 o'clock in the afternoon. I swiftly boarded the plane with disgust
and I found a note in the cockpit. I read the useless orders and the only word I understood from
reading was: Patrolling. Great! Community service! This was a joke. I've been serving the US for
years and this is what I got in return. I was one of the finest pilots in the US air force always flying
an F–15E Strike Eagle jet or F–16 Fighting Falcon. My expertise was in driving jets but my
superiors were getting revenge at me because the last jet I flew was a disaster; they say I'm reckless.

Example Of Corporate Social Responsibility
"We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by
the military–industrial complex" (Eisenhower). This was Eisenhower's warning against the military–
industrial complex in his farewell address as president. Even so, our military and government have
gotten out of control with the amount of money the goes to defense spending every year. This is
precisely why our government needs to adopt some form of corporate social responsibility to, at
some level, be able to regulate themselves. There are just too many examples of wasteful spending
spawning from bad policies and dependency to ignore the source of the problem any longer. The
U.S. defense budget is out of control, crucial to our economy, and too ... Show more content on

That's how Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the ninth largest city in Wisconsin, got their hands on a military
grade armored personnel carrier (Boyd). Why is our defense spending debate only about arming
soldiers? Why doesn't it includes the food chain of contractors selling arms to the military, who
eBayed them to law enforcement? Or what about the way defense spending helps determine whether
you have a job.
Lots of parts of defense spending are domestic spending. Defense spending creates American
manufacturing jobs. Going back to the tanks from before, there is one set of workers at one factory
in Lima, Ohio who can make those tanks and they are the only people who can. If they get laid off
we lose are tank building infrastructure and we give an American town the rust belt treatment. And
there is a similar situation with the Bradly Fighting Vehicle manufactured in York, Pennsylvania and
only York, Pennsylvania. What happens in Lima and York happens all over the country every time
America gives itself defense jobs. The biggest example being the F–35 Lightning II Joint Strike
Fighter.
The Air Force pitched the F–35 to Congress as something the defense company Lockheed Martin
would build. Lockheed promised Congress that the F–35 would create 125,000 American jobs
across 46 states (Lockheed Martin). So permission to build it zipped through Congress because
projects that boost 96% of the U.S. economy tend to do well in a Senate vote. The F–35 will also be

Where Are The Black Cockpits?
Where are the Black Cockpits?
The United States roughly accommodates 4.5 percent of the world's total population. Out of the
316.1 million people that live in the United States around 14.2 percent (44.9 million) of these people
are deemed black or African–American. The United States has less than 1 percent (less than 3.16
million) of its total population in the military currently. In the United States Air Force there are
312,453 active duty military personnel with 14 percent (43,743) being black or African–American,
but out of all the active duty there are 62,349 members with an officer rank according to the Air
Force military demographics as of Sept 30, 2014. Out of those 62,349 officers, 13,303 are currently
pilots; however, from the 13,303 pilots there are approximately 300 (around 2.2 percent) of them
being black or African–American. Obviously, the question that begs to be asked is: why? Why are
certain careers fields in the military, in this case aviation, disproportionate in their racial content?
There are many political, sociological, and scholarly examples to answer this question. It can vary
from those that look at social aspects for causation to those that blame the disparities that racism is
still at hand contributing to the dearth of black aviators. But the one feature that appears to be
common is the emphasis on the concern of race, because when debating the racial discrepancies in
the military with regards to promotions, opportunities, and the like, it

have defensive and offensive elements both that depend on robust space. Basically what is
happening is that the Air Force is trying to use Counter Space to do their private investigation by
taking images from outer space. There are many things to learn about the U.S Air Force. The U.S
Air Force without a doubt is the biggest and strongest army out there. The Air Force in many ways
is supportive for family's. The Air Force airmen go into the war with such a great attitude of
winning. The Air Force helps out their airmen if they ever happen to get hurt. My essay strictly

Ia Dang Civil War
The first major battle of the Vietnam War was the battle of Ia Drang. This conflict took many
casualties on both sides in just two days. There have been many books and articles that have been
written about the battle. There was even a major Hollywood movie titled "We Were Soldiers" that
dramatized the battle. Most of the public thinks of the conflict as a very bloody battle fought by the
1–7, 1st Cavalry Division, led by Lieutenant Colonial Harald G. Moore (Warren, 2015). While this
is accurate, what is not known about the battle is the 1st Cavalry Division, utilized a technique
called air mobile, now known as air assault, to employ multiple forces throughout the battlefield for
the first time in combat. Air mobile was not just used to deploy ... Show more content on

The primary howitzer during this era was the M101, 105mm howitzer. The M101 had a range of
11.5KM without rocket assist and 15.1KM with rocket assist projectile. The max rate of fire for the
piece was 10 rounds per minute with 3 rounds per minute sustained (Olive–Drab, 2012). Although
there was not much to the construction of the M101, it played a huge part in the Vietnam War. The
howitzer was capable of firing rounds quickly and accurately to not only kill and suppress the
enemy, but it also helped the infantry move closer to their objective. Some of the rounds that the
M101 shot consisted of HE, smoke, and chemical. Each of these ammunitions played a precise times

Abstract:
Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton is considered to be one of the greatest Antarctic explorers of all time,
not because that he was successful in all his expeditions. In fact all of the expeditions he undertook
were failures. So why is he given this legendary status? His simple ability to lead the men in his
crew to safety, to handle the most stressful situations with calmness and change his plans as per the
situations has rendered him to become a subject for many research studies throughout the world.
In his expedition during 1906, to the South Pole, he single handedly man hauled a sledge to within
97 miles of the South Pole. Later he lead a crew of 27 men safely to home in one of the most
notorious weather conditions for a duration of over 2 years simply exemplify his stature.
Introduction:
Sir Ernest Shackleton was an Antarctic explorer of the Anglo – Irish descent. Though he went on
many expeditions, he is best known for his "Endurance" expedition during 1914–1916.

China Sea Research Paper
Introduction
The current global security climate is one of unease and uncertainty. An aggressive Russia, an
unsettled Middle East, and a resurgent China all pose threats to American national interests. The
Islamic State undoubtedly invokes the greatest amount of fear in the hearts of the world, but it may
be the rise of China that truly tests American resolve. The China Sea is of extreme economic,
political and military importance to the United States. This is evident from the Obama
administration's strategic "pivot" to Asia, the recent Trans–Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the U.S.S
Lassen challenging China's territorial claims to the Spratley Islands. America's security guarantees
in the region also include some of the oldest and most valuable ... Show more content on

As the heart of the Carrier Strike Group (CSG) and Seventh Fleet, the aircraft carrier must carry its
100,000 ton weight in this fight. The CSG must find a way to counter the A2/AD threat in order to
be an effective tool in the South China Sea, and the reported $14 billion dollar price tag says that it
better. The planned composition of a Carrier Air Wing (CVW) consists of 3 FA–18E/F, 1 F/A–18G,
1 F–35C, 1 E–2D, and 2 MH–60 squadrons. The scope of this research is limited to the need to
protect the carrier strike group from attacking aircraft and striking ground and sea based targets on
the Chinese coast. For this intent, the capabilities and limitations of the E–2D and MH–60 are not of
immediate concern. However, it is important to fully analyze not only the capabilities, but the
limitations of the strike–fighter aircraft in the air wing. Each FA–18E/F squadron consists of 12
aircraft that have the ability to perform both the air–to–air and air–to–ground role as well as perform
airborne refueling. The requirement to perform airborne refueling is extremely important as the S–3
Viking was removed from service in 2009. The FA–18E/F has a limited combat radius of less than
400nm without airborne refueling, considerably less than what would be required to strike any
targets under the 1200nm protective ring of Chinese DF–21 missiles. A

Military Comparisons From The 1920's
Military Comparisons from the 1920's
The 1920's were a time of substantial growth for many nations, especially for the nations that did
not pay reparations. The nations that did not pay reparations had vast military growth, and had leaps
in military technology. The technology that received the most attention was their submarines, but
their airplanes and tanks were also important to these nations. Even though the technological
advances were from the 1920s there is still the technology present in today's military. There is some
old technology still in today's submarines like the Mccarn rescue tube. Believe it or not there is still
advancements in today's submarine that were apart of some 1920s submarines. One of those said

Most tanks of the 1920's were made to fill the role of infantry support or to be riding into the battle
with the infantry. "The Vickers Mediums stimulated the Royal Tank Corps to develop mobile tactics,
and various experiments during the 1920s and early '30s resulted in the general adoption of two
categories of tanks...while slower but more heavily armored tanks provided infantry support."
(Ogorkiewicz, "Tank Military vehicle"). The slower more armored tanks would be used to help
infantry in battle in multiple roles. Although most tanks now can be used for either role, infantry
support or just going to battle alone, they still have the role of being a guardian angel for the
infantry. Tanks now can be used to take out enemy tanks alone and can also be used to take out
installments of enemy troops on the battle field. Tanks have always had the same role but they have

Essay about Lockheed Martin Organizational Environment
Organizational Culture and Environment
As one of the only major defense contractors, one would think that Lockheed Martin has a different
organizational culture and environment than most companies, but in reality they run like any
company would but in a unique industry. They specialize in four different business segments
including Aeronautics, Space Systems, Electronic Systems, and Integrated Systems and Global
Solutions. Their vision statement says, "Powered by Innovation, Guided by Integrity, We Help Our
Customers Achieve Their Most Challenging Goals". (Lockheed Martin, 1) This company works
toward maintaining their lead in global security through innovative research and development.

They must be able to quickly respond to any threats to our nation's security. They are firmly on the
defense and government side of aeronautics. Considering that 85% of their sales derive from the
United States Department of Defense, Lockheed Martin is directly affected by the government's
military spending cuts. (Hoovers, 1) So, this company thrives off of the government's budget and
specific needs. Lockheed Martin's 2007 revenue was $41.9 billion which shows that the current
economic situation has not affected them that much which is probably because their products and
supplies are being used in the war in Iraq. Their products are in high demand here in the United
States and around the world due to recent terrorism and turmoil. One good thing about working
closely with the government is that job stability is not a problem. Lockheed Martin rarely lays off
employees and can supply them with good benefits. However, other factors affect the way that the
company runs such as its focus on the environment and "going green". Lockheed is creating
programs that will help make their products more environmentally friendly. Considering 90% of
Lockheed's greenhouse gas emissions derive from energy use, they created an energy program
which operates with the Environmental, Safety and Health organization. This energy management
program tracks the corporation's usages and costs so that it can monitor energy efficiency

Management : Management And Management Essay
According to Henri Fayol, managers perform five basic functions; planning, organizing, leading,
commanding, and controlling. Managers also adapt to assuming multiple roles, enabling them to
comfortably transition between being a Monitor, a liaison, a disseminator, a resource allocator, and
more. Successful managers do not simply dictate orders, they apply multiple disciplines, embrace
the organization as a living breathing entity which has differing moods, requirements and needs, and
they understand strive to create a challenging and satisfying work environment, one which promotes
innovation, employee dedication and high productivity. To create this type of environment,
managers need to understanding their greatest asset are the people whom they manage. A successful
manager fosters trust with their subordinates, empowers them to grow and learn, and becomes a
dependable resource the employees can count on no matter what struggle may stand before them.

The Operations Superintendent would have OPCON and TACON as well. Making small changes to
how we operate as an organization to become more effective in daily operations would be TACON.
The flight chief is the best example of TACON as they run the flight who is conducting the daily
operations. They are told to conduct guardmount, but they are not told in what order they conduct
their briefings or what type of information needs to be briefed every day. They also assign who gets
posted at each location for the day. OPCON would be the post priority chart that tells the flight chief
which posts are the most important and require the most manpower. TACON is used when the flight
chief decided who will work the most important post and who will work the gates. Below is a flow
chart to help you understand how OPCON and TACON blend together (Figure 1–1).

Lockheed Martin Case Study
Lockheed Martin is a major security and aerospace company headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland.
Employing over 97,000 employees worldwide, Lockheed Martin is principally focused on research,
design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems,
products, and services (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.). Lockheed Martin is organized into broad
business areas to include aeronautics ($17.8 billion in 2016 sales), missile and fire control (6.6
billion in 2016 sales), rotary and mission systems (13.5 billion in 2016 sales), and space systems
(9.4 billion in 2016 sales) (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.). To better understand the global giant
that is today's Lockheed Martin, a historical look at the two companies that merged in 1995 and their
respective accomplishments is essential. The Glenn L. Martin company was established by Glenn L.
Martin in Los Angeles, California in 1912, after building a self–designed plane at the urging of
Orville Wright (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.). A few month later and less than 500 miles away,
Allan and Malcomb Lockheed founded the Alco Hydro–Aeroplane Company, later renamed the
Lockheed Aircraft Company, focused on seaplane construction (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.).
Although the two companies would not merge until 1995, the impact, contributions, and legacy of
these companies both prior to the merger and beyond have played a significate role in the defense
industry and the overall defense posture of the United States. Both the Martin Company and
Lockheed Aircraft Company had significant accomplishments prior to creating the joint company
that is in existence today. The Martin Company was responsible for achieving the first major over–
ocean flight, the first successful scout–torpedo bomber for the U.S. Navy, the first successful trans–
Pacific flight in a Martin M–130 seaplane, development and production of the B–26 Marauder
bomber for World War 2, the Pershing ballistic missile, and the Titan I intercontinental ballistic
missile (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.). In 1961, the Martin Company merged with the
American–Marietta Corporation to become the Martin Marietta Corporation. Additional

Characteristics Of My Best And Worst Performances
This paper was written as an exercise to determine the characteristics of my best and worst
performances as an athlete. As an athlete growing up, I never experienced "flow" as described in
sport psychology. I grew up before the term sport psychology was common. However, I was a
professional athlete as a warrior and fighter pilot flying the most maneuverable fighter jet ever
conceived and it is still, to this date, the only jet in history that can sustain 9Gs and accelerate. This
was my sport as an athlete for over 17 years of a 23 year career flying fighter jets. I lost a friends
and I've witnessed three F–16 crashes. I've studied human factors and written proactive safety
articles to try and find solutions to prevent accidents. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flying F–16s is a highly physical and mentally demanding event requiring great physical and mental
strength and endurance to fly the single seat jet with G forces up to 9 times the pilot's body weight. I
was a combat ready F–16 wingman upgrading to 2–ship flight lead for this performance over South
Korea. Shags, my instructor/wingman, was the most respected pilot in the squadron and one who
expected above and beyond performance. I wanted to please him. He was a quiet and confident pilot
who rarely smiled and was the most serious pilot in our squadron and the toughest instructor pilot
I've ever flown with in the USAF. And, to this date, he is the most serious pilot I've ever flown with
in my flying career spanning over 30 years. I was confidently prepared, focused, motivated,
determined, inspired, courageous, and proud for the mission and confidently ready to face any
contingency that we could experience. I had specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time
bound objectives (or process goals) for the flight. I was "in the moment" with ability to think and
forecast ahead of the jet and anticipate the next event with perfect cadence in timing regardless of
threats, mountainous terrain, towers, other aircraft, my wingman (the instructor/Shags), the attack,
egress, and recovery back to the base. I was organized after over 8 hours of intense and intentional
planning the day prior and then a detailed, comprehensive 1.5 hour flight briefing.

  • 1. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Drones INTRODUCTION In the recent years, the SAF is moving towards a more automated technology in order to cope with the shrinking birth rate and a leaner Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) workforce. The SAF have been purchasing newer technologies from the US to replace its current fleet of technology such as F– 15SG, upgrading its current fleet of F16, procurement of the F–35 fighter jets, acquiring advance weapons, and unmanned UAVs. Leveraging on new technology is the way forward for the SAF to enhance its war capabilities and training effectiveness. The USAF in particular have been developing newer technologies such as 2unmanned F16 developed by Boeing which are undergoing air test currently, armed drones such as "Reaper" and "Predator" drones that ... • 5. The Studio System Essay The Studio System Key point about the studio system could be: Despite being one of the biggest industries in the United States, indeed the World, the internal workings of the 'dream factory' that is Hollywood is little understood outside the business. The Hollywood Studio System: A History is the first book to describe and analyse the complete development, classic operation, and reinvention of the global corporate entities which produce and distribute most of the films we watch. Starting in 1920, Adolph Zukor, head of Paramount Pictures, over the decade of the 1920s helped to fashion Hollywood into a vertically integrated system, a set of economic innovations which was firmly in place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The following essay will examine how these changes took place, and what impact it had on the film making industry in America. We shall also examine how the system relates to the current production methods used in film making. The main issues raised within the text will be summarised concisely within the conclusion. Before a film reaches the cinema screen, and its audience it must go through a three stage process. Firstly and most obviously it has to be produced, following this it must then be distributed, and finally exhibited. Before the introduction of the studio system in the 1920s all of these processes were controlled separately. Although this gave the makers of films, such as directors and producers, room to express their creativity it placed a heavy constraint upon the amount of movies that could be made, and financial profits. However, despite Hollywood's uneasy birth, by the 1920s it had become one of the worlds leading film producers (Dirks, 2002). This was largely due to the introduction of the producer, or studio syste Cinema is a collaborative art so it is difficult to determine the influence of one particular person on a film. The only way to truly judge a single person's contribution to film is to look at their entire filmography, in that way you can begin to distinguish patterns that can be identified with individuals. Through their legendary Skunkworks program, they have developed the F–117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, U–2 Dragon Lady spy plane and the SR–71 Blackbird. These are craft were operational long before the public even knew of their existence. The SR–71 developed in the 1960s still holds many speed and altitude records. The F–35 takes this experience and incorporates it. It is a fully stealth aircraft that uses advanced geometrical shape and electronic methods to remain undetectable. Each F–35 is fully linked to all other aircraft, being able to "see" what they see. The pilot wears an advanced helmet that allows them to see "through" the aircraft using 6 infrared cameras mounted around the aircraft, virtually eliminating any blind spots. Weaknesses Cost Overruns. "The F–35 program has become the single most expensive project in the nation's history. It has been beset with serious technical problems, major schedule delays, cost overruns, and the F–35's performance capabilities are seen by many as inferior to the nation's potential adversaries' fighter aircraft, if not inferior to the aircraft it is intended to replace." (Hughes, p. 1, 2015). The F– 35 was to have a "fly away" cost of $89–200 million depending on the variant. But this has soared to $208–304 million currently. This stems from the ... The organization is a leader in the aerospace and security industry and is enjoying large financial gains. However, given market volatility the corporation there are a few modifications the organization may want to consider. A brief summary of the organization's situation and, when appropriate, recommendations follows. An organization's mission, vision, values, and goals drive organizational decisions and, when effective, positively impact employee and business performance. Lockheed Martin's mission, vision, values, and goals are a perfect fit for the organization. Lockheed Martin already has several sources of competitive advantage that it uses effectively to gain leverage in the market place. However, given that the budget of its main customer is highly volatile the corporation should look to other sources of competitive advantage. Today, many Vietnam Vets will not speak about their horrific memories from the Vietnam War and the war still haunts them thirty years later. Was this a senseless war? Many people today would say the United States, once again, stuck their nose into a war when it should not have. Is this just another record of accomplishment for the United States or the history behind wars or the history of wars repeating themself? Why does the United States government approve of another ruler or president of another country but 20–30 years later, they either are creating a coop or creating a war to over throw the ruler of that country? Just like Vietnam, many refugees would not be in this country if there were no wars. In a similar way to Vietnam, there has been Lebanon 1982–1984, Grenada 1983, Panama 1989, Gulf War 1991, Somalia 1993, Kosovo 1999, and now the Global War on Terror 2001 and all the wars in between and including the ever present and real danger the War Against the Islamic State (ISIS) 2014? Is war simply about power and money? Although, I am hesitant about the intentions of the United States government especially when it comes to issues on war, I am grateful for the United States military and proud to be a War Baby because I would not be alive today without the Vietnam War. Air Force Analysis Paper This paper is an analysis and evaluation of the United States Air Force (USAF) Lightweight Fighter (LWF) program and the first prototype aircraft that it produced, the YF–16. The purpose is to focus on the program's successes in light of three project elements that are common to all projects (whether correctly and properly implemented, or not). Those elements being project requirements, opportunities and risks, and the project team. The success of the LWF program really cannot be understated. Emerging from the program was the F–16, an astounding technological achievement that has affected the course of the USAF and how it approaches technology transition, management strategies, and rapid procurement and program execution (Aronstein & Piccirillo, 1997, p. 203). Project Requirements During the mid–to–late 1960s, and at the height of the Vietnam War, it became painfully obvious to the USAF, and also to observers from outside the Air Force and Department of Defense (DOD) that a new approach was needed to maintain and enhance the United States' technological lead on adversaries such as the Soviet Union and the North Vietnamese in the realm of air combat superiority. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This desire, along with new advances in aircraft propulsion, flight–control, and structures technologies, led to the formation of the Lightweight Fighter program in 1972. In conjunction with the LWF program the Air Force stood up the Air Force Prototype Program Office (PPO). This new prototype program incorporated new DOD policy that simplified and greatly reduced the proposal lengths for new weapon system acquisitions. According to Aronstein & Piccirillo, (1997), one of the key foundations of the new program was that emphasis would be placed on early hardware demonstration rather than on studies and analyses as in recent past ... I have known Ned for over 20 years and I flew F–16s with him in the Alabama Air National Guard to include combat over Iraq. He has always exceeded my expectation with his performance and attitude. He is a selfless and above and beyond performer who works well with others to accomplish the team's goal. I've personally flown with him in both the military and in our civilian jobs at Delta. I can attest to his outstanding character and ability to work with others especially in high pressure situations. Ned's hard work and dedication is evidenced by his sterling academic and flying record in the USAF and at Delta Air Lines. He has been a distinguished graduate of every formal Air Force flying school he attended. He has been an instructor in the F–16, as well as the Chief of Flying Safety where he focused on human factors to reduce mishaps. Ned has lead combat missions over Iraq with success and is a highly competent, mature, and professional aviator. He is also a well published author on various safety topics to include human factors, pilot error, and fatigue. I have never met anyone who can focus their energy toward a goal like Ned Linch. ... • 29. Personal Narrative: The US Air Force "What is this?" shouted Liam as he was running wildly to the Beechcraft C–12 Huron "They call this a military aircraft?" It was 2 o'clock in the afternoon. I swiftly boarded the plane with disgust and I found a note in the cockpit. I read the useless orders and the only word I understood from reading was: Patrolling. Great! Community service! This was a joke. I've been serving the US for years and this is what I got in return. I was one of the finest pilots in the US air force always flying an F–15E Strike Eagle jet or F–16 Fighting Falcon. I was patrolling the city literally at the speed of 10km/h and my thrusters were at full power. I looked at the beautiful emptiness of the blue sky except its milky clouds drifting to one another. It blinded my eyes when suddenly out of nowhere this fat blackish–brown bird struck my wing! I couldn't believe it! This bird was tougher than my plane! I quickly lost control. The wind howled through the window. My stabilizers went out of balance and this turbulence wasn't helping this situation. "Mayday! Mayday! I'm going down!" I cried repeatedly like a mockingbird expecting someone's help. This was the end of C–12 Huron. This was Eisenhower's warning against the military– industrial complex in his farewell address as president. Even so, our military and government have gotten out of control with the amount of money the goes to defense spending every year. This is precisely why our government needs to adopt some form of corporate social responsibility to, at some level, be able to regulate themselves. There are just too many examples of wasteful spending spawning from bad policies and dependency to ignore the source of the problem any longer. The U.S. defense budget is out of control, crucial to our economy, and too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That's how Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the ninth largest city in Wisconsin, got their hands on a military grade armored personnel carrier (Boyd). Why is our defense spending debate only about arming soldiers? Why doesn't it includes the food chain of contractors selling arms to the military, who eBayed them to law enforcement? Or what about the way defense spending helps determine whether you have a job. Lots of parts of defense spending are domestic spending. Defense spending creates American manufacturing jobs. Going back to the tanks from before, there is one set of workers at one factory in Lima, Ohio who can make those tanks and they are the only people who can. If they get laid off we lose are tank building infrastructure and we give an American town the rust belt treatment. And there is a similar situation with the Bradly Fighting Vehicle manufactured in York, Pennsylvania and only York, Pennsylvania. What happens in Lima and York happens all over the country every time America gives itself defense jobs. The biggest example being the F–35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter. The Air Force pitched the F–35 to Congress as something the defense company Lockheed Martin would build. Lockheed promised Congress that the F–35 would create 125,000 American jobs across 46 states (Lockheed Martin). So permission to build it zipped through Congress because projects that boost 96% of the U.S. economy tend to do well in a Senate vote. The F–35 will also be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Where Are The Black Cockpits? Where are the Black Cockpits? The United States roughly accommodates 4.5 percent of the world's total population. Out of the 316.1 million people that live in the United States around 14.2 percent (44.9 million) of these people are deemed black or African–American. The United States has less than 1 percent (less than 3.16 million) of its total population in the military currently. In the United States Air Force there are 312,453 active duty military personnel with 14 percent (43,743) being black or African–American, but out of all the active duty there are 62,349 members with an officer rank according to the Air Force military demographics as of Sept 30, 2014. Out of those 62,349 officers, 13,303 are currently pilots; however, from the 13,303 pilots there are approximately 300 (around 2.2 percent) of them being black or African–American. Obviously, the question that begs to be asked is: why? Why are certain careers fields in the military, in this case aviation, disproportionate in their racial content? There are many political, sociological, and scholarly examples to answer this question. It can vary from those that look at social aspects for causation to those that blame the disparities that racism is still at hand contributing to the dearth of black aviators. But the one feature that appears to be common is the emphasis on the concern of race, because when debating the racial discrepancies in the military with regards to promotions, opportunities, and the like, it ... The Islamic State undoubtedly invokes the greatest amount of fear in the hearts of the world, but it may be the rise of China that truly tests American resolve. The China Sea is of extreme economic, political and military importance to the United States. This is evident from the Obama administration's strategic "pivot" to Asia, the recent Trans–Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the U.S.S Lassen challenging China's territorial claims to the Spratley Islands. The planned composition of a Carrier Air Wing (CVW) consists of 3 FA–18E/F, 1 F/A–18G, 1 F–35C, 1 E–2D, and 2 MH–60 squadrons. The scope of this research is limited to the need to protect the carrier strike group from attacking aircraft and striking ground and sea based targets on the Chinese coast. For this intent, the capabilities and limitations of the E–2D and MH–60 are not of immediate concern. However, it is important to fully analyze not only the capabilities, but the limitations of the strike–fighter aircraft in the air wing. Each FA–18E/F squadron consists of 12 aircraft that have the ability to perform both the air–to–air and air–to–ground role as well as perform airborne refueling. The requirement to perform airborne refueling is extremely important as the S–3 Viking was removed from service in 2009. The FA–18E/F has a limited combat radius of less than 400nm without airborne refueling, considerably less than what would be required to strike any targets under the 1200nm protective ring of Chinese DF–21 missiles. The technology that received the most attention was their submarines, but their airplanes and tanks were also important to these nations. Even though the technological advances were from the 1920s there is still the technology present in today's military. Their products are in high demand here in the United States and around the world due to recent terrorism and turmoil. One good thing about working closely with the government is that job stability is not a problem. Lockheed Martin rarely lays off employees and can supply them with good benefits. Lockheed Martin is organized into broad business areas to include aeronautics ($17.8 billion in 2016 sales), missile and fire control (6.6 billion in 2016 sales), rotary and mission systems (13.5 billion in 2016 sales), and space systems (9.4 billion in 2016 sales) (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.). To better understand the global giant that is today's Lockheed Martin, a historical look at the two companies that merged in 1995 and their respective accomplishments is essential. The Glenn L. Martin company was established by Glenn L. Martin in Los Angeles, California in 1912, after building a self–designed plane at the urging of Orville Wright (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.). A few month later and less than 500 miles away, Allan and Malcomb Lockheed founded the Alco Hydro–Aeroplane Company, later renamed the Lockheed Aircraft Company, focused on seaplane construction (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.). Although the two companies would not merge until 1995, the impact, contributions, and legacy of these companies both prior to the merger and beyond have played a significate role in the defense industry and the overall defense posture of the United States. Both the Martin Company and Lockheed Aircraft Company had significant accomplishments prior to creating the joint company that is in existence today. The Martin Company was responsible for achieving the first major over– ocean flight, the first successful scout–torpedo bomber for the U.S. Navy, the first successful trans– Pacific flight in a Martin M–130 seaplane, development and production of the B–26 Marauder bomber for World War 2, the Pershing ballistic missile, and the Titan I intercontinental ballistic missile (Lockheed Martin at a Glance, n.d.). In 1961, the Martin Company merged with the American–Marietta Corporation to become the Martin Marietta Corporation. Additional contributions from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. Characteristics Of My Best And Worst Performances This paper was written as an exercise to determine the characteristics of my best and worst performances as an athlete. As an athlete growing up, I never experienced "flow" as described in sport psychology. I grew up before the term sport psychology was common. However, I was a professional athlete as a warrior and fighter pilot flying the most maneuverable fighter jet ever conceived and it is still, to this date, the only jet in history that can sustain 9Gs and accelerate. This was my sport as an athlete for over 17 years of a 23 year career flying fighter jets. I lost a friends and I've witnessed three F–16 crashes. I've studied human factors and written proactive safety articles to try and find solutions to prevent accidents. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flying F–16s is a highly physical and mentally demanding event requiring great physical and mental strength and endurance to fly the single seat jet with G forces up to 9 times the pilot's body weight. I was a combat ready F–16 wingman upgrading to 2–ship flight lead for this performance over South Korea. Shags, my instructor/wingman, was the most respected pilot in the squadron and one who expected above and beyond performance. I wanted to please him. He was a quiet and confident pilot who rarely smiled and was the most serious pilot in our squadron and the toughest instructor pilot I've ever flown with in the USAF. And, to this date, he is the most serious pilot I've ever flown with in my flying career spanning over 30 years. I was confidently prepared, focused, motivated, determined, inspired, courageous, and proud for the mission and confidently ready to face any contingency that we could experience. I had specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound objectives (or process goals) for the flight. I was "in the moment" with ability to think and forecast ahead of the jet and anticipate the next event with perfect cadence in timing regardless of threats, mountainous terrain, towers, other aircraft, my wingman (the instructor/Shags), the attack, egress, and recovery back to the base. I was organized after over 8 hours of intense and intentional planning the day prior and then a detailed, comprehensive 1.5 hour flight briefing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
