Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Alice In Wonderland,...
When a person watches a movie, and a scene with dim lighting shows up on the screen, that usually
makes them feel tense and scared about what is going to happen next. Directors use cinematic
techniques to convey feelings or connect with the viewer. In the movies Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory, Alice in Wonderland, and Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton uses flashbacks, diegetic and
non diegetic sounds, and high key and low key lighting to show a characters thoughts or past, create
the mood of a scene, create suspense, and let the viewers know about the characters as if they
personally knew each other. Tim Burton uses the flashback to show or reveal characters thoughts or
past. In the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Willy Wonka has frequent flashbacks to when he
was a child. All of his flashbacks involved memories of candy one way or another, and they were
sparked by either Charlie Bucket or a question the Golden Ticket winners asked the candy maker.
Wonka has a flashback to when he was a little boy trick or treating on Halloween. The flashback also
shows how his father was a dentist that hated candy and only let Willy go trick or treating so his father
could see what kinds of candy are rotting childrens teeth each year. While Wonka was allowed to trick
or treat, his father always got rid of it by throwing it into a fire. Other flashbacks showed how Willy s
love for chocolate started, by showing how he ate pieces of candy and chocolate secretly at

Instagram Is A Negative Impact On The Youth Culture
Demi Lovato stated People say sticks and stones may break your bones, but names can never hurt you,
but that s not true. Words can hurt. They hurt me. Things were said to me that I still haven t forgotten.
Given this point, I believe Instagram is a negative impact on the youth culture because it created
virtual bullying and a disillusioned self image meaning lowering one s self esteem how someone s
appearance supposed to be. Thus, I believe as a previous instagramer one shouldn t indulge in the
social media world if they re not self confident or aware of their own self.
Bullying begins inside the school because my beginning stages of being bullied began in the 4th
grade. At that time, I attended a private school which was majority whites and I was the only little
black girl in my class, we all knew each other since pre school but as we aged the one s I had as
friends disappeared into their own group of peers, so I was left alone. Since, I felt like I wasn t fitting
in and lost the friends I once had I decided to transfer over to a majority African American public
school in the 6th grade which was actually worse than being alienated at the private school. My
assumption on being around peers who were the same race was a mistake because although I felt
alienated at my other school, once I transferred over in the 5th grade I literally transferred to a school
from hell. Students started to bully me because of how proper I spoken. For example, They would
tease me because of my

The Enlightenment And The American Revolution
The Enlightenment was the root of many of the ideas of the American Revolution. It was a movement
that focused mostly on freedom of speech, equality, freedom of press, and religious tolerance. The
American Revolution was the time period where America tried to gain its independence from England.
They got influenced very much from many philosophers. That will be discussed throughout the essay.
The Enlightenment ideas were the main influences for American Colonies to become their own nation.
Some of the leaders of the American Revolution were influenced by Enlightenment ideas which are,
freedom of speech, equality, freedom of press, and religious tolerance. American colonists did not
have these rights, in result, they rebelled against England for independence. In the Declaration of
Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote about American s natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit
of happiness. These ideas came from the Enlightenment, the ideals led towards the American
Revolution soon after (Fisk). The American Revolution must be considered as an anticolonial war for
independence, not only a war of liberation from overseas rule but a war for freedom. The American
Revolution was a movement to fulfill aspirations to acquire more property (Morris, 3).
Montesquieu believed that everything was made up of laws or rules that never changed. He wrote the
book The Spirit of the Laws, which greatly covers the importance of separation of power in balancing
the control of the

Compare And Contrast Paracetamol And Aspirin
Compare and contrast the mechanism of action and therapeutic uses of aspirin and paracetamol
Aspirin, also known as acetylsalicylic acid, was among the earliest drugs to be synthesized and is still
commonly used worldwide today. Aspirin is useful as an anti pyretic, anti platelet, analgesic, as well
as, anti inflammatory drugs. Its main clinical importance now is in the treatment of cardiovascular
disease. It can be orally administered and is rapidly absorbed as the liver metabolizes 75%, but can t
be given to human beings under the age of 16. The elimination of aspirins metabolite, salicylate,
follows first order kinetics at low doses, but at high doses, it follows saturation kinetics. (Rang et al.,
2012).

By inhibiting the COX enzyme it controls pain by controlling the signals before they reach the brain.
The analgesic mechanism of paracetamol has been suggested that the metabolites of paracetamol such
as NAPQI, which act on TRPA1 receptors in the spinal cord, suppress the signal transduction from the
superficial layers of the dorsal horn, therefore alleviating pain.
The exact mechanisms by which COX is inhibited in various circumstances are still being discussed
and this is because of the differences in activity of aspirin, paracetamol and other NSAIDs. With these
differences it has been proposed that further COX enzymes may exist. A theory of how paracetamol
may work is by the inhibition of the COX 3 isoform (a COX 1 splice variant). COX 3 has been
expressed in dogs and it shows that this enzyme shares similarities to other COX enzymes, while
producing pro inflammatory chemicals and is selectively inhibited by paracetamol. But research has
continued and in humans the COX 3 enzyme doesn t show inflammatory action and paracetamols
blockage of it is not significant in its functioning in

Tutoring Should Be Allowed In Schools
The need for tutors is overwhelming. Tutors help fill the gap between the teachers and the students.
With so many students in each classroom, the teacher can t give each student the one on one attention
that some students need. This is where tutors come in to play. Tutors have been a key instrument
ineducation since as far back as the 1500 s (Gordon 9). Tutoring is almost as old as educating children.
Tutoring younger students is also still going strong in the twentieth century. Today it is
more~important than ever due to the increase in students and low budgets that some schools have. As
stated by Edward E. Gordon in his book, Centuries of Tutoring Schoolinghas dominated the twentieth
century, but tutoring still holds an important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you tutor or volunteer you are doing a service for your community and for yourself.
Some of the reasons that tutoring is needed in society are outlined next. According to Dorothy Lloyd,
the trend of the 60 s included a rapidly changing population of students whose educational needs
became difficult to meet due to their mobility and lack of achievement. This change stimulated a rise
in tutor programs (46). As society became increasingly industrialized, families moved from city to city
and their children went with them. Thus making it hard for teachers and schools to form a lasting bond
between the children and the teachers.
The education systems are radically changing due to the fact that previous material and techniques
believed to be successful were no longer effective. The importance of education in modern society led
to a sense of depression about the need to provide a good education. This need is supported by
Reisner, Petry, Armigage (1990),who regarded tutoring and mentoring as highly relevant methods of
intervention that addressed national, state, and local priorities (Lloyd 50). The age of the computer is
an example of this. You can no longer do just about anything without a computer. If school districts
don t have access to computers then their students are left behind.
The classroom sizes are increasing every year and the one on one attention is being lost in the process,

Should Video Games Be Considered Sports? Are eAthletes a group of teenagers who sit in a dark
room, or are they teenagers with their own house that earns $224,000 a year? These teens spent
countless hours in their parents home playing video games, but little did their parents know that these
teens were training to become the best at what they do. Now practicing 16 hours a day, streaming live
so others can watch them. They train consistently each day interacting with their fan base as a career,
but the question still stands: Should video games be considered sports? League of Legends, a game
with 27 million people, stands at the heart of competitive gaming. Looking at other video games like
Madden or Fifa people might say: Why can t those be considered a sport? It s all just video games.
Well, games like League of Legends or Dota 2 are highly competitive games that gets 1.2million
viewers almost everyday. The tough grind to climb the ladder, the ranking system the games put in
place, could take 3 weeks just climbing from one tier to the next. So reaching the top isn t easy trying

Components Of A Food ( Glanz Et Al
Flavour is the most important attribute that determines the acceptance and desirability of a food
(Glanz et al., 1998). Flavours are generally added to foods to enhance palatability, replace flavour loss
during processing and/or storage, and to impart added flavour to analogue foods. Hydrolysates of
proteins generated by acid, enzymes or fermentation have a long history of use as taste enhancing and
savoury flavouring materials in the food industry. Besides being important precursors in thermal
process flavourings, protein hydrolysates are widely used in food products as flavouring ingredients in
their own right. Traditional European cuisine often incorporates hydrolysates of soy, wheat, meat and
fish for the preparation of soups and gravies, while fermented seasonings such as soy sauce, soybean
paste and fish sauce are prevalent in East Asian cuisine (Neklyudov et al., 2000).
Hydrolysed vegetable protein (HVP) is a savoury flavouring agent used to impart authentic bouillon
like characteristics and round off the taste of culinary preparations and ready to cook products
(Aaslyng et al., 1999). Unlike fermented seasonings, HVP is produced by acid and enzymatic
hydrolyses. The raw material, nature of hydrolysis and subsequent refinement determine individual
flavour characteristics of hydrolysates. Degradation products may also function as flavour precursors
in the Maillard reaction occurring during hydrolysis. Common plant protein sources include wheat,
soy, maize, rice and

Contemporary Sociological Theory Reviewed Essay
1. Our understanding of contemporary capitalist culture and globalization has been greatly influenced
by neo Marxism. There have been many significant events all over the world such as the Great
Depression, The Second World War which have contributed to our understanding of contemporary
capitalist culture. There has been a false consciousness associated with this time and date since
capitalism continues to deliver the goods (Adams Sydie, 2002: 90). The beginning of the end of
capitalist conflict and the beginning of the beginning of socialism came with the U.S. economic and
military dominance after 1945 and also, on the other side of the coin, the Stalinist model of socialist
development failed to live up to it s own Marxist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They noted that the class structures of these societies were products of neo imperialism. The
domination is achieved through investment, the control of technological expertise, money through the
World Bank and International Monetary Fund. The term Monopoly Capitalism covers all of those
aspects. Wallerstein proposed an analytic framework. He felt he was conducting world system analysis
and not writing world system theory. He believed there were three factors which were essential when
establishing a world economy. First, he saw an expansion of the geographical size of the world in
question. Second, the development of variegated methods of labor control for different products and
different zones of the world economy, and Third, the creation of relatively strong state machineries in
what would become the core states of this capitalist world economy (121). Wallerstein identifies the
core, periphery and the semi periphery. The core is the economic interest which control productive
activities. The periphery is the opposite of the core. The core controls all of the periphery s resources.
The semi periphery is the mid point between the core and the periphery. It serves as a gray zone with
independent capital yet is dependent on the core for much of it s infrastructure. Wallerstein identifies
three means for moving from periphery to a semi periphery. First he talks about seizing the chance.

Capital Punishment Is The Ultimate Irreversible Denial For...
The uptick of capital punishment in the United States keeps on being a conspicuous issue is the
domain of the criminal justice system. Capital punishment is a matter in which numerous people
contradict and challenge as it a contemporary type of the death penalty. There have been numerous
studies attempting to demonstrate or object a point in regards to capital punishment. Some have
viewed capital punishment as a deterrent, which is the utilization of discipline as a danger to deflect
individuals from offending. Capital punishment has been credited to social orders for many years.
More recently, capital punishment has been addressed to be the right stride toward equity. Over the
span of this paper I will review if capital punishment is the ultimate irreversible denial for human
rights, the history, the profile of the types of person put to death or sentenced, the means and methods
of putting to death or sentenced to death, the issues associated with those methods, the success and
failures of the death penalty, and a few historical cases.
The roots of the death penalty laws can be traced back to ancient Babylonia and The Code of
Hammurabi which highlighted 25 violations that were deserving of death, yet humorously murder was
excluded. The death penalty, in what is presently America, was a feature of England s correctional
framework that was received by the original states. The first recorded execution in the British
American Colonies was in the Jamestown Colony in 1608.

All Members Of Congress And Fellow Americans
To all my members of Congress and fellow Americans:
Today I will be addressing some of the issues that are happening in today s society and set a plan as to
how we as Americans have to come together for the better and make a change. This country has grown
tremendously in many areas since we ve experienced our last financial crisis. During our time of crisis
there were many doubters who said that we could not make America great again and stating that we
Americans were misguided. I believe that we have proved them wrong with the growth of the
economy and deficits being cut by two thirds. This economy has touched so many lives through the
rise of wages and growing job opportunities. The goal here now is to aim at working on common
concerns such as the criminal justice reform, finding a cure and having more studies for those battling
incurable illnesses, and protecting our rights as American citizens. As your president of the United
States of America, I believe in giving everyone a fair chance as well as a second chance. With that
being said, I believe there s a need to reduce the mandatory minimum for non violent offenders that
are in the prison system. There should be no reason that a convicted sex offender should be released to
society within a minimum of 5 years and the drug offenders must serve a minimum of 10 years or
more depending on the level of the offense. These adjustments should not only be applied to the state
mandatory minimums, but also to the federal

Donald Trump s Building A Wall Across The Entire Border...
While there may be some truth to parts of Donald Trump s claims, such as the costs that have been
incurred, but his overall plan is quite radical. The idea of building a wall across the entire southeastern
border is extremely radical in itself. Trump compares the simplicity of such a wall to the 95 story
skyscrapers he has built. Ali F. Rhuzkan has tackled the topic of the reality of a President Trump
building a wall across the entire Mexican American border in his article on the National Memo.
Rhuzkan claims that the main problems with Trump s proposed wall are not technical problems, but
logistical ones. Rhuzkan points out that Trump s border wall, if built as he has described it, would be
one of the largest civil works projects in the history of the country and would face an array of
challenges not found when constructing 95 story skyscrapers (Rhuzkan). Rhuzkan also points out
what Trump s wall would need in order to be functionally effective and also cost effective. A
successful border wall must be effective, cheap, and easily maintained. It should be built from readily
available materials and should take advantage of the capabilities of the existing labor force. The wall
should reach about five feet underground to deter tunneling, and should terminate about 20 feet above
grade to deter climbing (Rhuzkan). Unlike Donald Trump s wall, Ted Cruz s idea for technologically
supported fencing would be far more cost effective, easier to assemble, and could also be

The Nymph s Reply To The Shepherd Analysis
By seeing the title The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd you know that it is a response to someone or
something that has already been written. In this case, it is true that this poem was a response to
Christopher Marlowe s poem, The Passionate Shepherd to his Love . Both Marlowe and Sir Raleigh
have a different but unique way of writing which makes their poems very similar but not the same . As
you read them both you will clearly understand the question being asked by Marlowe and the response
from Sir Raleigh. These poems symbolize many of the same things just in different ways, with one
being idealistic and one realistic. Both of these poems represent a point of views from each side of a
proposal, even though they have some similar points, they are more different than similar. By looking
closely at both poems, you can see that Marlowe s poem is based on the Shepherd confessing his love
to a woman and Sir Raleigh s poem is based on the response from the woman. Both Writers used the
flock of sheep in their poem, Marlowe wrote And we set upon the rock/ seeing shepherds feed their
flocks and in response from Sir Raleigh the woman says Time drives the flocks from field the fold .
The love the shepherd has for her is more like lust than love. The shepherd is not thinking about the
future and what is to come to him, he is just living in the moment. So when he said they would sit and
look at the flock he did not take into consideration that as time passes the flock begins to move to
different fields, as will his feelings. The Shepherd believes that he is madly in love with her when he
says Come with me and be my love,/ And we will all the pleasures prove . But, not once did he did
bring up how she is, which makes you believe that he did not want her for her but for her looks. As
she gets older her looks will fade and return into dust, his love will fade because she does not look as
she did the woman replys with Thy cap, thy kirtle, and thy posies /Soon break, soon wither, soon
forgotten, / In folly ripe, in reason rotten. Which is stating that all the materialistic stuff he is trying to
tempt her with will fade and wither away just like his love . The woman knows the the love the

Essay The Effectiveness of the Five Year Plans
The Effectiveness of the Five Year Plans
Stalin introduced the Five Year Plans. This brought all industry under state control and all industrial
development was planned by the state. The state would decide what would be produced, how much
would be produced and where it should be produced. An organisation called Gosplan was created to
plan all this out.
· The first five year plan was from 1928 to 1932.
· The second five year plan was from 1933 to 1937.
· The third five year plan was from 1938 to 1941 when the war interrupted it.
Each plan set a target which industries had to meet. Each factory was set a target which it had to meet.
The targets were completely unrealistic and could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ex peasants were used as skilled workers. This did not work at all, despite their valiant efforts, a lot of
factory machines were damaged because they didn t know how to use them, also the machines could
not be repaired because of the spare parts not being available to fix the machines.
Factories decided to inflating their production figures and the products produced were frequently so
poor that they could not be used, even if the factory producing those goods appeared to be meeting its
target. The punishment for failure was severe. A manager could be executed as an enemy of the people
. Workers could be sent to a prison camp in Siberia. Nobody was allowed to criticise the five year
plans as they were Stalin s idea.
Life was very hard for industrial workers. Their pay was poor and there was barely anything they
could spend their money on even if they had any. Consumer goods were not produced. Working
conditions were very poor and dangerous and the hours were long. The homes that were provided
were poor.
They often worked hard because the young workers were still idealistic and dreaming. The concept of
communism was still making them believe. They called Stalin Uncle Joe and they were willing to
suffer a few years of hardship if they were going to get to the promised land of a better society.
People were encouraged

Ethical Issues In College Sports
Throughout the history of college sports, athletes have been viewed as student athletes. However, in
the last two decades, universities have placed an emphasis on athletes and the sports they play, rather
than their education and well being. School has not been coming first, and this has caused a struggle
for athletes to become eligible to make grades. For example, the University of North Carolina had
paper classes where the football players would get credits, but did not need to show up for class; they
only had to complete one paper and most got A s or B s.
Throughout the film, many stereotypes were presented and highlighted to make the athletes look like
something they were not. The film mentioned that C s get degrees, which degrades those who play
college sports by saying that athletes do not try in school are uneducated. However, this ... Show more

Devon Ramsey was a scholar through high school and aspired to be one in college. He was the player
on the team that the coaches never had to worry about him making grades. However, throughout his
college career, he sent one email, containing a rough draft of an essay, to a tutor for help. Years later,
this email came to haunt him. Devon Ramsay s actions were declared academic fraud and this led the
NCAA to believe that the University and Ramsey were unethical. This reveals the theme of totality of
control, as athletes are controlled by rules, so they do not commit any NCAA violations. Since athletes
are restricted by rules and regulation, this begs the questions if athletes are amateurs or servants to the
university. There is a major different between Amateurism and Servitude in college sports.

The Blind Side Film Analysis
The Blind Side is an extraordinary film based on a true story. Michael Oher, an African American
teenage boy is one of the main characters. He grew up very poor in the inner city housing projects
with his mother in Memphis Tennessee. He had no idea who is father was, and his mother was a drug
addict. Michael had very little formal education and very few skills in order to help him learn. It wasn
t until Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy took him into their home and made changes in Michael s life for
the better. The Tuohy family had two kids of their own. A daughter Collins and a son S.J. S.J was
immediately accepting to the idea of taking in Michael, whereas Collins had a very difficult time. This
may be because it was not a part of Collins normal culture. She saw Michael as an outsider for various
reasons. He was a poor, homeless, African American. The Tuohy s were a very wealthy, high class,
white family. Collins worried what her peers at school would think and worried she would be looked
at differently. Over time she did not allow other people s opinions bother her and accepted Michael
into her family. Leigh Anne made sure Michael knew he had every opportunity to succeed just like
everyone else. When she saw his interest in football, she made sure the coaches knew the best ways to
use Michael s skills. Not only did the Tuohy s provide Michael with a loving and caring home, but
also hired a tutor in order for him to improve his education. If it wasn t for the Tuohy family,

Kant On Enlightment
In the essay What is Enlightment? Immanuel Kant discusses his thoughts on enlightment and what it
takes for a society to reach it. In Kant s words, Enlightment is man s emergence from his self imposed
immaturity ; he uses the term immaturity as a way to describe someone who uses other peoples
thoughts to make up for their own instead of thinking for themselves. Kant then states that these
people are scared and lazy and choose to not think for themselves because they were never allowed to
in the first place so they became dependent on others thinking for them. However, Kant believed that
if a society was given freedom, they ll slowly be able to reach enlightment. Which is where public and

participants were not blinded in the study by Shimada, et al, (2004), which questioned internal
validity. Although, fall rates were reduced in the training group, there is need of a further study which

later works. Alcott s most famous work, Little Women, was published in 1868, and was read by many
young girls even today. Evolving from a struggling family to a world renowned author, Louisa May
Alcott inspired her era and eras beyond by her writing talents in her some of her works such as My
Contraband, Little Women, and Jo s Boys (Boston Women s Heritage Trail). My Contraband is a rich
short story that demonstrates just how profound Louisa s short experience as a nurse during the Civil
War was. This short story is obviously going to be very alluring to people during that time because
they wanted, and liked, to know what was going on in the Civil War. Also, Alcott has the special
writing talent of imagery and showing women strength to be able to effectively connect with her
audience. It is still very popular due to this presence of strong, inspirational women and spiritual
righteousness. First off, it is narrated by Faith Dane, an army nurse. The story then opens with

Love Definition Essay
Love.
There is three different types of love, your love for your family, which is never ending. However you
may experience so rather harsh brawl with one another but you can t seem to hate them. Thats actually
the most important type of love, the one you have.
The next type of love is the one you see on television and in every single music video or book ever.
The love between two people thats unbreakable, the one that is consuming, the love that is
breathtaking. The love that is threatened by the presence of another, but still is strong as ever. The love
you want.
The last type of love is the one you see all around, the love you dream of. The kind of love that is
forever bonded between two people. The love that is not only sexual and physical ... Show more

Critical Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl
The Beat Generation is a literary movement during the 1950s that consisted of male authors including
the widely known Allen Ginsberg, who explored American culture in their poems. The Beat
Generation could be described as misogynistic and patriarchal due to their exclusion of women and
concerns confined to only male outcasts. In Allen Ginsberg s 1956 Howl , he brings his audience s
attention to male outcasts in society. In her 2015 Howl , a critical response to Ginsberg s Howl , Amy
Newman explores the oppression outcasted women endure in a male dominated culture through the
allusions of an admired female poet, Ginsberg s original stanza form, and utilizing diction to convey a
woman s perspective antithetically to Allen Ginsberg s original.
In Amy Newman s Howl , she alludes to Sylvia Plath, an American female poet, who is acknowledged
for her hardships as a outcasted female in the poetry world due to her oppressive marriage. Newman
illustrates Plath as, [a] star spangled lost in her housebound Eden curse with orchards and a million
gossipy daffodils, writing and nursing and not on the lists... (Newman). In Allen Ginsberg s original
Howl he adverts to male poets he admires of his time, opposingly Newman emulates Ginsberg s
technique and alludes to a feminist iconic poet Sylvia Plath. Newman implements a biblical allusion
referencing The Garden of Eden to depict Plath as a successful female poet who was metaphorically
locked in her household; where a woman s place

Go Set A Watchman, By Harper Lee
Prompt #5 In the book Go Set A Watchman , Dr. Finch said not much more than 5% of the South ever
saw a slave, much less owned one. to Jean Louise. This statement brings the idea of slavery away
from the racist views which are clearly present in characters like Dr. Finch and Grady O Hanlon.
Although the validity of this statement is questionable, the impact slavery had on society in this
country is clear. Slavery impacted many aspects of society, including the people of Maycomb, the
views of the Southern/Northern states, and racial tension in today s society.
The statement made by Dr. Finch was, in fact, inaccurate. When you look at the results of the 1860
census, you see that the overall percent of families owning slaves is only 8% in the United States as a
whole(CivilWar.net). However, in his statement from the book, he specifically said not much more
than 5% of the South ever saw a slave, much less owned one. The keywords in this statement were
South and Saw . Both of these words can be disproved by the 1860 census. If you were to look at the
different states separately, you would see that almost all southern states were at or above 25% when
looking at families who own slaves. This proves that much more than 5% of the south owned slaves.
However, if you were to look at the data as a whole, you would be mislead by thinking this 8% was a
representation of the south. This is most likely what Dr. Finch s error was when saying this. This is
why I do believe that

For a firm, such as Microsoft, its revenue would come from products such as the computers, phones,
tablets, and software it sells to consumers. On the other hand, for a consulting firm, such as Accenture,
revenues would stem from the fees it charges for its consulting services contracts with various
government agencies around the world. Both companies are providing a product to a consumer, one
simply happens to be a tangible product that people buy, while the other is a service product that
agencies need for their functionality. Expenses are the costs a firm incurs while generating its
revenues (Parrino, 2011). For Microsoft, expenses would stem from the costs of building its products,
marketing them, developing new products, shipping them around the world, etc. For Accenture,
expenses would stem from the cost of all of its consultants, which includes their wages, insurance,
company laptops it provides to each of them, travel costs for sending consultants around the world on
projects, etc. Again both types of firms exhibit expenses; some of them are just different. Net income
shows the company s revenue relative to its expenses. If revenues exceeds expenses then the company
has a net profit and is in the black for that time period (Parrino, 2011). On the other hand, if expenses
exceed revenues then the company has a net loss and is in the red for that time period (Parrino, 2011).

Essay Islamic Science in the Medieval Era
There are many terms used to describe the period after the fall of Rome and before the Renaissance,
three main terms being the Middle, Medieval, and Dark Ages. In general, these terms are used
interchangeably, but are these fair substitutions? In recent years the term Dark Ages is becoming less
and less acceptable as a phrase which describes the span of years it is meant to refer to. The use of the
term dark implies a period of stagnation, which is becoming a questionable concept. In particular, the
span of time referred to in this paper is 530 1452 BCE, with specific attention paid to the scientific
discoveries and innovations rather than art or literature. These dates are significant because in 529 the

One might assert that the ideas of Islamic science during this period were not of value because if the
innovations were so great, and the halt of progress in Europe was so encompassing, a knowledge
vacuum would have been created, and the ideas would have poured into the knowledge starved areas.
Further more, Europeans would expand outward to the Middle East in search of new found knowledge
due to the stagnation present in Europe. However, this is not the case, so therefore it is logical to
assume that the knowledge in the Middle East was not that significant. In opposition, I would assert
that major scientific innovation in some area in the world during a given time period is enough to
remove the negative connotation of dark . The scientific discoveries do not have to be world wide.
Furthermore, the reason there was no spread of knowledge to Europe during this time was due to the
isolation of the two very different cultures from one another, not the insignificance of Islamic ideas.
The language barrier alone would be enough to interfere with natural flow of technology. Translations
of texts and therefore ideas takes time, and any cooperation between these two groups prior to the
tenth century would be halted for hundreds of years by the Crusades. Also, the church s relationship
with young men not only occupied them thereby inhibiting their thought, but also their exploration,
explaining the lack of European pro activity in

Professional Identity In Australia
Professional identity is established through an individual s personal and professional life. It
encompasses personal values, attitudes, morals and beliefs, while taking into account the professional
ethics and legal regulations that surrounds their chosen profession. It can therefore be further
elaborated by defining an individual s specific chosen profession. Within the health care sector a
professionals role is to promote, restore and maintain health whilst ensuring the greatest quality of
care is given to all individuals when they seek it (World Health Organisation, 2014). Therefore it is
understood that professional identity within the health care community embodies personal and

Shame Stereotypes And Black Women In America Summary
SECTION I
INTRODUCTION
Sister Citizen; Shame, Stereotypes, and Black Women in America is a non fictional work published in
2011. A citizen by definition is being a resident of a city, town, state, and/or nation especially one
entitled to vote and enjoy other privileges there. Women in the African American community are
sometimes referred to as sisters . Sister Citizen; Shame, Stereotypes, and Black Women in America is
the title of the book because it reflects and expounds on the African American women s position in the
American society and political system, when it comes to race, gender, and stereotypes concerning
African Women in the 21st century. Harris Perry uses Ntozake Shange s For Colored Girls Who Have

find the positive aspects of African American women trying to disprove those negative stereotypes.
Harris Perry deepened my interest in political participation through the personal experience. Whether

Intricacies Of Precognition
Intricacies of Precognition Divine precognition is a phase of clairvoyance that brings knowledge of
future events without relying on any physical senses. While clairvoyance is an awareness of past or
future events that happen at a distance, precognition is knowing about events that will take place soon.
For instance, you may be shown forthcoming events while you are in a dreaming state, during
meditation or via flashes of clarity. The Bible is rich with examples of precognition. For example, the
Wise Men were forewarned in a (precognitive) dream, not to return to Herod, but to take a different
route home after finding the Christ child. History is rife with astounding examples of precognition:
reportedly some surviving passengers, who were aboard the Titanic, experienced unusual dreams of
impending disaster, which included many deaths by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frequently, the dream includes clear visions of the near future event, such as Lincoln seeing his own
corpse. Premonition is similar to precognition, except premonition is a feeling that something dreadful
might occur at some unknown time in the future. Precognition is a knowing that something will
happen. Also, precognition usually comes when we are in the dream state and premonitions can take
place anytime, day or night. Both involve heightened emotions and/or feelings, such as anxiety, fear or
as feelings of doom and gloom that keep nagging at your consciousness. Let s explore precognitive
dreams. Of course, not all dreams are precognitive, but if you should have one, it will deliver a
warning. There is a slim chance to change the outcome. Precognitive dreams are often symbolic and
may not be understood until the event happens. But, there are literal precognitive dreams where the
dreamer can see what is about to happen in vivid detail as if they were participating in the

Gun Safe Essay
The moment you decide to invest in a gun(s), purchasing a gun safe also becomes important. This is
the only logical way to minimize the possibility of accidents or loss of firearms. Buying a safe
however, is not always a straightforward process. You need to first familiarize with a couple of
recommendations, regulations and marketing techniques in order to make an informed choice. Let us
briefly take a look at what to look for in a gun safe as detailed under the following 7 questions.
1.What is the right gun safe capacity to go for?
Something you may not be aware of is that gun safe manufacturers have a habit of bragging about the
large number of guns they can squeeze into their safes. Unfortunately, what may be advertised as high
capacity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is why safes made of concrete amalgamates and steel are ranked as the most reliable. But at the
same time, some RSC gun safes are light yet still categorized as reliable. Are they really safe? Well,
yes because modern technology has enabled manufacturers to maximize on available resource to build
lighter yet effective units. The best way to determine if a safe is worth its weight is by comparing its
height weight ratio. For instance a 60 inch tall gun safe (RSC) can weigh anywhere between 500 and
800 lbs. Anything below 300 lbs would be questionable.
5.What Quality Of Steel Is Used?
Steel is usually the most valuable component of a safe as it provides resilient burglary protection and
withstands damage remarkably. However, there are some cases where manufacturers produce
substandard steel and use it to make commercial gun safes. Some use misleading tactics such as thick
robust doors but what they don t tell you is that only a thin part of this door is actually made of steel.
Others even boast of providing 2 inch of steel thick walls only to use a 14 gauge piece of steel
combined with layers of drywall. The recommended minimum guidelines of steel usage are as
follows.
*Door Outer Sheet Should be at least 7 gauge. Remember, even a thin looking 7 gauge steel is better
than a thick looking composite door that s made of 12 gauge steel wrapped around some weak

Analysis Of Samuel Wallace s Unfinished Business
Unfinished Business
Samuel Wallace was tired of being humiliated and degraded by his boss, Mr. Marin, so one Monday,
Samuel killed him.
Samuel had worked for Mr. Marin for 10 years, and had never once been told thank you. The closest
he ever got was a grunt when the morning coffee he prepared wasn t warm enough or the tax receipts
weren t in two weeks in advance. After months of intolerable lecturing, Samuel decided that on the
10th anniversary of his joining the firm, he would stab his boss.
The plan was simple. Too simple. As if, subconsciously, it had been taking shape for a long time. His
10th anniversary was on a Monday. Fortunately, that was the day that Mr. Marin spent alone in his
office all morning. He played blackjack with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had to keep reminding himself that everything must appear to be normal. With all of his strength,
Samuel tried to force himself to focus on his work. However, he couldn t stop his hands from shaking
as he finalized the details of the Jacobson merger.
Mr. Marin, right on cue, came in at eight and asked Emily, his assistant, to take all of his phone calls
and leave him alone as he would be very busy all morning. As he was entering his office, he turned his
eye to Samuel and sneered, I need to talk to you after lunch. Samuel nodded, noticing the pause in the
surrounding staff, which indicated that they had heard his remark.
At twelve, Samuel packed his briefcase and walked over to the reception, alerting Miranda that he
would be leaving for lunch and would be back at one. Miranda nodded, disinterested. Samuel then
walked to the fire escape, however that day, instead of beginning his descent, he placed his briefcase
in the inside of the door and headed towards Mr. Marin s office. Closing his fist tightly, Samuel raised
his trembling limb and lightly knocked on the wooden office door, one, two, three times. No answer,
but he didn t exactly expect one. Silently, Samuel reached for the metal doorknob, around which he
had carefully wrapped a handkerchief. He wasn t going to leave any fingerprints behind.
Samuel entered the office and locked the door after him. Behind a huge

Air Canada s Business Strategy Essay
Over the years Air Canada s business strategy has changed and has been reconstructed a number of
times. Air Canada s mission has always remained the same, connecting Canada and world (Air
Canada, 2016), but their visions and goals, have transformed.
Air Canada s early strategy was to grow the business, with minimal concern about their staff members
and customers. Without any benefits or rewards their staff felt underappreciated. Their customers felt
as though their feedback wasn t being heard but in the eyes of Air Canada as long as their business
was expanding, they were satisfied.
This was evident with the purchase of Canadian Airlines, in 1999 (The National, 2003). With the
purchase of this airline, Air Canada also inherited their estimated eight billion dollar debt (The
National, 2003). Also inherited from the merger, were underappreciated employees and under trained
employees who lacked morale (The National, 2003). In 2003, Air Canada filed for bankruptcy (The
National, 2003), this was due to the large financial deficit, the economy and the underappreciated/paid
employees. Although, this was a difficult time for the airline, this truly marked the change in how the
airline is structured. In 2005, it marked the true return of Air Canada, they reached record breaking
revenues and far exceeded anyone s expectation, including their own. Currently Air Canada, is the
largest Canadian Airline, which has a lot to do with their change in business strategy.
Air Canada is now an

  • 2. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Alice In Wonderland,... When a person watches a movie, and a scene with dim lighting shows up on the screen, that usually makes them feel tense and scared about what is going to happen next. Directors use cinematic techniques to convey feelings or connect with the viewer. In the movies Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, and Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton uses flashbacks, diegetic and non diegetic sounds, and high key and low key lighting to show a characters thoughts or past, create the mood of a scene, create suspense, and let the viewers know about the characters as if they personally knew each other. Tim Burton uses the flashback to show or reveal characters thoughts or past. In the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Willy Wonka has frequent flashbacks to when he was a child. All of his flashbacks involved memories of candy one way or another, and they were sparked by either Charlie Bucket or a question the Golden Ticket winners asked the candy maker. Wonka has a flashback to when he was a little boy trick or treating on Halloween. The flashback also shows how his father was a dentist that hated candy and only let Willy go trick or treating so his father could see what kinds of candy are rotting childrens teeth each year. While Wonka was allowed to trick or treat, his father always got rid of it by throwing it into a fire. Other flashbacks showed how Willy s love for chocolate started, by showing how he ate pieces of candy and chocolate secretly at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Instagram Is A Negative Impact On The Youth Culture Demi Lovato stated People say sticks and stones may break your bones, but names can never hurt you, but that s not true. Words can hurt. They hurt me. Things were said to me that I still haven t forgotten. Given this point, I believe Instagram is a negative impact on the youth culture because it created virtual bullying and a disillusioned self image meaning lowering one s self esteem how someone s appearance supposed to be. Thus, I believe as a previous instagramer one shouldn t indulge in the social media world if they re not self confident or aware of their own self. Bullying begins inside the school because my beginning stages of being bullied began in the 4th grade. At that time, I attended a private school which was majority whites and I was the only little black girl in my class, we all knew each other since pre school but as we aged the one s I had as friends disappeared into their own group of peers, so I was left alone. Since, I felt like I wasn t fitting in and lost the friends I once had I decided to transfer over to a majority African American public school in the 6th grade which was actually worse than being alienated at the private school. My assumption on being around peers who were the same race was a mistake because although I felt alienated at my other school, once I transferred over in the 5th grade I literally transferred to a school from hell. Students started to bully me because of how proper I spoken. For example, They would tease me because of my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Enlightenment And The American Revolution The Enlightenment was the root of many of the ideas of the American Revolution. It was a movement that focused mostly on freedom of speech, equality, freedom of press, and religious tolerance. The American Revolution was the time period where America tried to gain its independence from England. They got influenced very much from many philosophers. That will be discussed throughout the essay. The Enlightenment ideas were the main influences for American Colonies to become their own nation. Some of the leaders of the American Revolution were influenced by Enlightenment ideas which are, freedom of speech, equality, freedom of press, and religious tolerance. American colonists did not have these rights, in result, they rebelled against England for independence. In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote about American s natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These ideas came from the Enlightenment, the ideals led towards the American Revolution soon after (Fisk). The American Revolution must be considered as an anticolonial war for independence, not only a war of liberation from overseas rule but a war for freedom. The American Revolution was a movement to fulfill aspirations to acquire more property (Morris, 3). Montesquieu believed that everything was made up of laws or rules that never changed. He wrote the book The Spirit of the Laws, which greatly covers the importance of separation of power in balancing the control of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Compare And Contrast Paracetamol And Aspirin Compare and contrast the mechanism of action and therapeutic uses of aspirin and paracetamol Aspirin, also known as acetylsalicylic acid, was among the earliest drugs to be synthesized and is still commonly used worldwide today. Aspirin is useful as an anti pyretic, anti platelet, analgesic, as well as, anti inflammatory drugs. Its main clinical importance now is in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. It can be orally administered and is rapidly absorbed as the liver metabolizes 75%, but can t be given to human beings under the age of 16. The elimination of aspirins metabolite, salicylate, follows first order kinetics at low doses, but at high doses, it follows saturation kinetics. (Rang et al., 2012). Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By inhibiting the COX enzyme it controls pain by controlling the signals before they reach the brain. The analgesic mechanism of paracetamol has been suggested that the metabolites of paracetamol such as NAPQI, which act on TRPA1 receptors in the spinal cord, suppress the signal transduction from the superficial layers of the dorsal horn, therefore alleviating pain. The exact mechanisms by which COX is inhibited in various circumstances are still being discussed and this is because of the differences in activity of aspirin, paracetamol and other NSAIDs. With these differences it has been proposed that further COX enzymes may exist. A theory of how paracetamol may work is by the inhibition of the COX 3 isoform (a COX 1 splice variant). COX 3 has been expressed in dogs and it shows that this enzyme shares similarities to other COX enzymes, while producing pro inflammatory chemicals and is selectively inhibited by paracetamol. But research has continued and in humans the COX 3 enzyme doesn t show inflammatory action and paracetamols blockage of it is not significant in its functioning in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Tutoring Should Be Allowed In Schools The need for tutors is overwhelming. Tutors help fill the gap between the teachers and the students. With so many students in each classroom, the teacher can t give each student the one on one attention that some students need. This is where tutors come in to play. Tutors have been a key instrument ineducation since as far back as the 1500 s (Gordon 9). Tutoring is almost as old as educating children. Tutoring younger students is also still going strong in the twentieth century. Today it is more~important than ever due to the increase in students and low budgets that some schools have. As stated by Edward E. Gordon in his book, Centuries of Tutoring Schoolinghas dominated the twentieth century, but tutoring still holds an important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you tutor or volunteer you are doing a service for your community and for yourself. Some of the reasons that tutoring is needed in society are outlined next. According to Dorothy Lloyd, the trend of the 60 s included a rapidly changing population of students whose educational needs became difficult to meet due to their mobility and lack of achievement. This change stimulated a rise in tutor programs (46). As society became increasingly industrialized, families moved from city to city and their children went with them. Thus making it hard for teachers and schools to form a lasting bond between the children and the teachers. The education systems are radically changing due to the fact that previous material and techniques believed to be successful were no longer effective. The importance of education in modern society led to a sense of depression about the need to provide a good education. This need is supported by Reisner, Petry, Armigage (1990),who regarded tutoring and mentoring as highly relevant methods of intervention that addressed national, state, and local priorities (Lloyd 50). The age of the computer is an example of this. You can no longer do just about anything without a computer. If school districts don t have access to computers then their students are left behind. The classroom sizes are increasing every year and the one on one attention is being lost in the process, Carter states in School Volunteers: What They Do How They Do ... Are eAthletes a group of teenagers who sit in a dark room, or are they teenagers with their own house that earns $224,000 a year? These teens spent countless hours in their parents home playing video games, but little did their parents know that these teens were training to become the best at what they do. They train consistently each day interacting with their fan base as a career, but the question still stands: Should video games be considered sports? League of Legends, a game with 27 million people, stands at the heart of competitive gaming. Looking at other video games like Madden or Fifa people might say: Why can t those be considered a sport? Hydrolysates of proteins generated by acid, enzymes or fermentation have a long history of use as taste enhancing and savoury flavouring materials in the food industry. Besides being important precursors in thermal process flavourings, protein hydrolysates are widely used in food products as flavouring ingredients in their own right. Traditional European cuisine often incorporates hydrolysates of soy, wheat, meat and fish for the preparation of soups and gravies, while fermented seasonings such as soy sauce, soybean paste and fish sauce are prevalent in East Asian cuisine (Neklyudov et al., 2000). Hydrolysed vegetable protein (HVP) is a savoury flavouring agent used to impart authentic bouillon like characteristics and round off the taste of culinary preparations and ready to cook products (Aaslyng et al., 1999). Unlike fermented seasonings, HVP is produced by acid and enzymatic hydrolyses. The raw material, nature of hydrolysis and subsequent refinement determine individual flavour characteristics of hydrolysates. Degradation products may also function as flavour precursors in the Maillard reaction occurring during hydrolysis. Common plant protein sources include wheat, soy, maize, rice and ... • 10. Contemporary Sociological Theory Reviewed Essay 1. Our understanding of contemporary capitalist culture and globalization has been greatly influenced by neo Marxism. There have been many significant events all over the world such as the Great Depression, The Second World War which have contributed to our understanding of contemporary capitalist culture. There has been a false consciousness associated with this time and date since capitalism continues to deliver the goods (Adams Sydie, 2002: 90). The beginning of the end of capitalist conflict and the beginning of the beginning of socialism came with the U.S. economic and military dominance after 1945 and also, on the other side of the coin, the Stalinist model of socialist development failed to live up to it s own Marxist ... The domination is achieved through investment, the control of technological expertise, money through the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. The term Monopoly Capitalism covers all of those aspects. Wallerstein proposed an analytic framework. He felt he was conducting world system analysis and not writing world system theory. He believed there were three factors which were essential when establishing a world economy. First, he saw an expansion of the geographical size of the world in question. Second, the development of variegated methods of labor control for different products and different zones of the world economy, and Third, the creation of relatively strong state machineries in what would become the core states of this capitalist world economy (121). Wallerstein identifies the core, periphery and the semi periphery. The core is the economic interest which control productive activities. The periphery is the opposite of the core. The core controls all of the periphery s resources. The semi periphery is the mid point between the core and the periphery. It serves as a gray zone with independent capital yet is dependent on the core for much of it s infrastructure. Wallerstein identifies three means for moving from periphery to a semi periphery. First he talks about seizing the chance. This is when an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The uptick of capital punishment in the United States keeps on being a conspicuous issue is the domain of the criminal justice system. Capital punishment is a matter in which numerous people contradict and challenge as it a contemporary type of the death penalty. There have been numerous studies attempting to demonstrate or object a point in regards to capital punishment. Some have viewed capital punishment as a deterrent, which is the utilization of discipline as a danger to deflect individuals from offending. Capital punishment has been credited to social orders for many years. More recently, capital punishment has been addressed to be the right stride toward equity. Over the span of this paper I will review if capital punishment is the ultimate irreversible denial for human rights, the history, the profile of the types of person put to death or sentenced, the means and methods of putting to death or sentenced to death, the issues associated with those methods, the success and failures of the death penalty, and a few historical cases. The roots of the death penalty laws can be traced back to ancient Babylonia and The Code of Hammurabi which highlighted 25 violations that were deserving of death, yet humorously murder was excluded. The death penalty, in what is presently America, was a feature of England s correctional framework that was received by the original states. The first recorded execution in the British American Colonies was in the Jamestown Colony in 1608. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. All Members Of Congress And Fellow Americans To all my members of Congress and fellow Americans: Today I will be addressing some of the issues that are happening in today s society and set a plan as to how we as Americans have to come together for the better and make a change. This country has grown tremendously in many areas since we ve experienced our last financial crisis. During our time of crisis there were many doubters who said that we could not make America great again and stating that we Americans were misguided. I believe that we have proved them wrong with the growth of the economy and deficits being cut by two thirds. This economy has touched so many lives through the rise of wages and growing job opportunities. The goal here now is to aim at working on common concerns such as the criminal justice reform, finding a cure and having more studies for those battling incurable illnesses, and protecting our rights as American citizens. As your president of the United States of America, I believe in giving everyone a fair chance as well as a second chance. With that being said, I believe there s a need to reduce the mandatory minimum for non violent offenders that are in the prison system. There should be no reason that a convicted sex offender should be released to society within a minimum of 5 years and the drug offenders must serve a minimum of 10 years or more depending on the level of the offense. These adjustments should not only be applied to the state mandatory minimums, but also to the federal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While there may be some truth to parts of Donald Trump s claims, such as the costs that have been incurred, but his overall plan is quite radical. The idea of building a wall across the entire southeastern border is extremely radical in itself. Trump compares the simplicity of such a wall to the 95 story skyscrapers he has built. Ali F. Rhuzkan has tackled the topic of the reality of a President Trump building a wall across the entire Mexican American border in his article on the National Memo. Rhuzkan claims that the main problems with Trump s proposed wall are not technical problems, but logistical ones. Rhuzkan points out that Trump s border wall, if built as he has described it, would be one of the largest civil works projects in the history of the country and would face an array of challenges not found when constructing 95 story skyscrapers (Rhuzkan). Rhuzkan also points out what Trump s wall would need in order to be functionally effective and also cost effective. A successful border wall must be effective, cheap, and easily maintained. It should be built from readily available materials and should take advantage of the capabilities of the existing labor force. The wall should reach about five feet underground to deter tunneling, and should terminate about 20 feet above grade to deter climbing (Rhuzkan). Unlike Donald Trump s wall, Ted Cruz s idea for technologically supported fencing would be far more cost effective, easier to assemble, and could also be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Nymph s Reply To The Shepherd Analysis By seeing the title The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd you know that it is a response to someone or something that has already been written. In this case, it is true that this poem was a response to Christopher Marlowe s poem, The Passionate Shepherd to his Love . Both Marlowe and Sir Raleigh have a different but unique way of writing which makes their poems very similar but not the same . As you read them both you will clearly understand the question being asked by Marlowe and the response from Sir Raleigh. These poems symbolize many of the same things just in different ways, with one being idealistic and one realistic. Both of these poems represent a point of views from each side of a proposal, even though they have some similar points, they are more different than similar. By looking closely at both poems, you can see that Marlowe s poem is based on the Shepherd confessing his love to a woman and Sir Raleigh s poem is based on the response from the woman. Both Writers used the flock of sheep in their poem, Marlowe wrote And we set upon the rock/ seeing shepherds feed their flocks and in response from Sir Raleigh the woman says Time drives the flocks from field the fold . The love the shepherd has for her is more like lust than love. The shepherd is not thinking about the future and what is to come to him, he is just living in the moment. So when he said they would sit and look at the flock he did not take into consideration that as time passes the flock begins to move to different fields, as will his feelings. The Shepherd believes that he is madly in love with her when he says Come with me and be my love,/ And we will all the pleasures prove . But, not once did he did bring up how she is, which makes you believe that he did not want her for her but for her looks. As she gets older her looks will fade and return into dust, his love will fade because she does not look as she did the woman replys with Thy cap, thy kirtle, and thy posies /Soon break, soon wither, soon forgotten, / In folly ripe, in reason rotten. Which is stating that all the materialistic stuff he is trying to tempt her with will fade and wither away just like his love . The woman knows the the love the Shepherd has for ... However, in the last two decades, universities have placed an emphasis on athletes and the sports they play, rather than their education and well being. School has not been coming first, and this has caused a struggle for athletes to become eligible to make grades. For example, the University of North Carolina had paper classes where the football players would get credits, but did not need to show up for class; they only had to complete one paper and most got A s or B s. Throughout the film, many stereotypes were presented and highlighted to make the athletes look like something they were not. Critical Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl The Beat Generation is a literary movement during the 1950s that consisted of male authors including the widely known Allen Ginsberg, who explored American culture in their poems. The Beat Generation could be described as misogynistic and patriarchal due to their exclusion of women and concerns confined to only male outcasts. In Allen Ginsberg s 1956 Howl , he brings his audience s attention to male outcasts in society. In her 2015 Howl , a critical response to Ginsberg s Howl , Amy Newman explores the oppression outcasted women endure in a male dominated culture through the allusions of an admired female poet, Ginsberg s original stanza form, and utilizing diction to convey a woman s perspective antithetically to Allen Ginsberg s original. In Amy Newman s Howl , she alludes to Sylvia Plath, an American female poet, who is acknowledged for her hardships as a outcasted female in the poetry world due to her oppressive marriage. Newman illustrates Plath as, [a] star spangled lost in her housebound Eden curse with orchards and a million gossipy daffodils, writing and nursing and not on the lists... (Newman). In Allen Ginsberg s original Howl he adverts to male poets he admires of his time, opposingly Newman emulates Ginsberg s technique and alludes to a feminist iconic poet Sylvia Plath. This statement brings the idea of slavery away from the racist views which are clearly present in characters like Dr. Finch and Grady O Hanlon. Although the validity of this statement is questionable, the impact slavery had on society in this country is clear. Slavery impacted many aspects of society, including the people of Maycomb, the views of the Southern/Northern states, and racial tension in today s society. The statement made by Dr. Finch was, in fact, inaccurate. When you look at the results of the 1860 census, you see that the overall percent of families owning slaves is only 8% in the United States as a whole(CivilWar.net). However, in his statement from the book, he specifically said not much more than 5% of the South ever saw a slave, much less owned one. The keywords in this statement were South and Saw . Both of these words can be disproved by the 1860 census. If you were to look at the different states separately, you would see that almost all southern states were at or above 25% when looking at families who own slaves. This proves that much more than 5% of the south owned slaves. However, if you were to look at the data as a whole, you would be mislead by thinking this 8% was a representation of the south. This is most likely what Dr. Finch s error was when saying this. This is why I do believe that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both companies are providing a product to a consumer, one simply happens to be a tangible product that people buy, while the other is a service product that agencies need for their functionality. Expenses are the costs a firm incurs while generating its revenues (Parrino, 2011). In general, these terms are used interchangeably, but are these fair substitutions? In recent years the term Dark Ages is becoming less and less acceptable as a phrase which describes the span of years it is meant to refer to. The use of the term dark implies a period of stagnation, which is becoming a questionable concept. One might assert that the ideas of Islamic science during this period were not of value because if the innovations were so great, and the halt of progress in Europe was so encompassing, a knowledge vacuum would have been created, and the ideas would have poured into the knowledge starved areas. Further more, Europeans would expand outward to the Middle East in search of new found knowledge due to the stagnation present in Europe. However, this is not the case, so therefore it is logical to assume that the knowledge in the Middle East was not that significant. In opposition, I would assert that major scientific innovation in some area in the world during a given time period is enough to remove the negative connotation of dark . The scientific discoveries do not have to be world wide. Furthermore, the reason there was no spread of knowledge to Europe during this time was due to the isolation of the two very different cultures from one another, not the insignificance of Islamic ideas. The language barrier alone would be enough to interfere with natural flow of technology. Translations of texts and therefore ideas takes time, and any cooperation between these two groups prior to the tenth century would be halted for hundreds of years by the Crusades. • 35. Intricacies Of Precognition Intricacies of Precognition Divine precognition is a phase of clairvoyance that brings knowledge of future events without relying on any physical senses. While clairvoyance is an awareness of past or future events that happen at a distance, precognition is knowing about events that will take place soon. For instance, you may be shown forthcoming events while you are in a dreaming state, during meditation or via flashes of clarity. The Bible is rich with examples of precognition. For example, the Wise Men were forewarned in a (precognitive) dream, not to return to Herod, but to take a different route home after finding the Christ child. History is rife with astounding examples of precognition: reportedly some surviving passengers, who were aboard the Titanic, experienced unusual dreams of impending disaster, which included many deaths by ... • 36. Gun Safe Essay The moment you decide to invest in a gun(s), purchasing a gun safe also becomes important. This is the only logical way to minimize the possibility of accidents or loss of firearms. Buying a safe however, is not always a straightforward process. You need to first familiarize with a couple of recommendations, regulations and marketing techniques in order to make an informed choice. Let us briefly take a look at what to look for in a gun safe as detailed under the following 7 questions. 1.What is the right gun safe capacity to go for? Something you may not be aware of is that gun safe manufacturers have a habit of bragging about the large number of guns they can squeeze into their safes. Unfortunately, what may be advertised as high capacity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is why safes made of concrete amalgamates and steel are ranked as the most reliable. But at the same time, some RSC gun safes are light yet still categorized as reliable. Are they really safe? Well, yes because modern technology has enabled manufacturers to maximize on available resource to build lighter yet effective units. The best way to determine if a safe is worth its weight is by comparing its height weight ratio. For instance a 60 inch tall gun safe (RSC) can weigh anywhere between 500 and 800 lbs. Anything below 300 lbs would be questionable. 5.What Quality Of Steel Is Used? Steel is usually the most valuable component of a safe as it provides resilient burglary protection and withstands damage remarkably. However, there are some cases where manufacturers produce substandard steel and use it to make commercial gun safes. Some use misleading tactics such as thick robust doors but what they don t tell you is that only a thin part of this door is actually made of steel. Others even boast of providing 2 inch of steel thick walls only to use a 14 gauge piece of steel combined with layers of drywall. The recommended minimum guidelines of steel usage are as follows. *Door Outer Sheet Should be at least 7 gauge. • 38. Air Canada s Business Strategy Essay Over the years Air Canada s business strategy has changed and has been reconstructed a number of times. Air Canada s mission has always remained the same, connecting Canada and world (Air Canada, 2016), but their visions and goals, have transformed. Air Canada s early strategy was to grow the business, with minimal concern about their staff members and customers. Without any benefits or rewards their staff felt underappreciated. Their customers felt as though their feedback wasn t being heard but in the eyes of Air Canada as long as their business was expanding, they were satisfied. This was evident with the purchase of Canadian Airlines, in 1999 (The National, 2003). With the purchase of this airline, Air Canada also inherited their estimated eight billion dollar debt (The National, 2003). Also inherited from the merger, were underappreciated employees and under trained employees who lacked morale (The National, 2003). In 2003, Air Canada filed for bankruptcy (The National, 2003), this was due to the large financial deficit, the economy and the underappreciated/paid employees. Although, this was a difficult time for the airline, this truly marked the change in how the airline is structured. In 2005, it marked the true return of Air Canada, they reached record breaking revenues and far exceeded anyone s expectation, including their own. Currently Air Canada, is the largest Canadian Airline, which has a lot to do with their change in business strategy. Air Canada is now an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
