Analysis Of Edgar Allan Poe s Go Back To Where You Came...
The process of discovery is often, a rigid and gruelling journey which leads an individual or group to
formulate new perspectives as truth is uncovered. Exploring new worlds, people and places, thrilling
the individual to reevaluate their understanding of the world and society transforming perceptions.
This is explored in the reality documentary series directed by Ivan O Mahoney s Go Back To Where
You Came From which encapsulates the hardships of asylum seekers catalysing the participants
emotional and intellectual rediscovery. Furthermore, Edgar Ellen Poe s poem the Raven examines the
impacts of stress and anxiety of a heartbroken lover antagonised by the presence of a raven achieving

Reinforcing the dehumanisation, demoralisation and injustice that asylum seekers experience.
However, the emotional and intellectual discovery is provoked during the Midnight raid confronting
responders with tense music, cross cutting and close shots of disorientated and stressed asylum
seekers. Challenging the participants to reevaluate their prejudice mindsets evident through Raye s
epiphany I don t think that s criminal , leading to the overall realisation of self discovery. The
utilisation of a four tiered structure allows responders to experience the emotional and intellectual
discovery of each participant.
Discovery can be confronting and distressing at times triggers the responders to empathise with the
protagonist through the emotional and intellectual discovery. Edgar Ellen Poe s poem centers on the
despair and insanity surrounding the loss of a loved one. The cliche use of once upon sets an archaic
and melancholy mood Furthermore the poem s trochaic octameter structure and rhyme gives a musical
lilt. Poe utilisation of the animal symbolism encapsulates the protagonist emotional and intellectual
loneliness. The raven catalyses the anxiety evident through the high modal negative connotations such
as evil and devil , the confronting and consistently reminded of the truth weighs heavy on the
protagonist s mentality. Highlighting the difficulties of discovery

Chemical Weapons Convention ( Cwc )
Chemical Weapons Convention
By: Jamie Dainty
John Sununu once said and I quote, When we re talking about technology that involves weapons of
mass destruction, nuclear, chemical or biological weapons, there has to be an element of preemption .
Chemical weapons are being fought by chemical weapons convention (CWC), but what is CWC?
When some people hear chemical weapons convention they might get the wrong idea in their head.
They might think of something more along the lines of a gathering where they would show their latest
models of their chemical weapon products. But in this case that s not exactly what it is. Chemical
weapons convention is actually an arms control treaty which outlaws the production, stockpiling, ...

(Organisation for prohibition of chemical weapons) The purpose/function of a chemical weapon is to
cause physical harm ranging from discomfort to death. (NTI) The convention is made up of a
preamble, twenty four articles and three annexes; annexes on chemicals, the verification annex and the
confidentiality. (Organisation for the prohibition of chemical weapons) In 1925 after the world war
one, the Geneva Protocol prohibited chemical weapons in warfare (U.N.O.D.A.), which can be viewed
as the first step to the chemical weapons convention. Banning chemical weapons due to the
devastating outcomes of the usage of the weapons, devastating outcomes such as deaths and
mutations, have made the steps to take to chemical weapons much easier. Yet the chemical weapons
convention wasn t started until it was signed in 1993 by president George H.W. Bush and ratified in
1997, which is about sixty eight to seventy two years later. (The Reagan Vision) On March sixteenth
1988 a most notorious example of chemical weapons used occurred, when Saddam Hussein unleashed
a mixture of mustard gas and nerve agents on Kurdish civilians in Halabja, Iraq. (Sounds chemical

Power Snack
Economic Feasibility
After reviewing the economic feasibility of in power snacks. When determining the project cost and
the revenue projections, there are many aspects to consider. When elevating the startup cost without
paying any type of the utilities or for rent. The start up cost will be closely around $5700. This will
contain a small amount of reserves with equipment, material supplies beginning inventory, operating
cost, business license, advertisement and miscellaneous expense. This is a small start up cost and
seems to be very logically stable to start Empower Snacks program. Although, when projecting
revenue logically, when manufacturing everything manually with an inexperienced staff, the period to
manufacture these items for consumption will be instituted at a greater degree than common
manufacturing periods.
When examining the revenue projections, having a 12 hour week supervisor with an advanced wage,
will project a loss in revenue or establish a high amount of units to be manufactured to break even.
This amount of units would not be practical for an inexperienced staff or producing these products
manually, in addition not in a manufacturing setting. Recommendations would to base revenue income
on having an $11 $13 hour supervisor trained. This would produce revenues to have a break even
point at a smaller unit amount that is more feasible for a handmade product with an inexperienced
staff. (See Appendix Startup expense Breakeven Analysis)

Delta Airline Case
Summary of Case In the case study changing Dynamics of the U.S. Airline industry were discuss and
dealt with. Between 2001 and 2005, Delta Airlines, the third largest U.S. Airline, lost $10 billion.
Delta wanted to increase its liquidity so they decided to sell its subsidiary Atlantic Southeast Airlines
to Sky West Airline for $425 million in August 2005. Analysts believed that Delta was on the merge of
bankruptcy. The Civil Aeronautics Board 9cab) imposed major restriction on marketing entry and
market access. There were regulation on rates, routes and services that reduce amount of competition
among industry participants. The Airline deregulation act was passed in 1978. It provided the airlines

They also face competition at their hub airports in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis,
Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York JFK, Salt Lake City, Amsterdam and Tokyo Narita. The airline also
has competition in smaller to medium sized markets from regional jet operators. They faces problem
with foreign carriers, both on interior U.S. routes and international markets. The company fares and
rates vary by significant price competition. They set ticket prices in most domestic and international
city pairs without governmental regulation. Prices and rates are subject to the jurisdiction of the DOT
and the government of the foreign countries involved. Most of their tickets are sold by travel agents
therefore fares are subject to commissions, overrides and discounts paid to travel agents, brokers and
wholesalers. Delta is considered to be one of the largest airlines in the United States, capturing
approximately 17.5% of domestic commercial airline market. The market shared is measured in terms
of domestic revenue passenger miles. Delta s operating revenue on a GAAP (2) basis grew 27% to $7
billion in the June 2009 quarter compared to the prior year period as a result of its merger with
Northwest Airlines. On a combined basis (3), total operating revenue declined $2.1 billion, or 23%,
and total unit revenue (RASM) declined 17%. (Delta, 2009). Northwest s operations for the period

Civility In Lord Of The Flies Analysis

English 2H Set 6
26 October 2017
An Anticipated Evolution: Civility to Barbarism in the Children of Lord of the Flies There are many
laws and unspoken and logical rules that keep society civil. In the beginning of Lord of the Flies,
Roger finds himself throwing minuscule stones at the younger boys, however missing them, due to the
conditioning of society. This is a result of the little boys being protected by policemen, parents, school
and the law. It is also evident and true that there are other factors that allow for civility to prosper in
humanity, some of which are present on the island with the boys, but some factors are extremely
scarce. But it is when these factors are mostly absent or diminish, that the idea and foundation of
civilization will weaken or fade. William Golding allows symbols to show a complex, yet beautiful
and convincing transition from a theme of civility and order, to one of savagery and also moral
depravity. The reason for this new theme being that the boys are faced with an internal danger; the true
nature of humanity, which fuels the drastic change from innocent boys who abide by rules to rabid
animals. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, while the conch symbol best conveys the influence of
the adult world on the boys, the conch symbol, paired with the pig hunt motif best conveys the theme
of regression into savagery. Although the island lacks an adult authority figure, the conch symbolizes
the adult world. Since

Hot Tin Roof Comparison
In a book to film adaptation, there is often a slight change to different aspects of the story. In the
movie version of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, numerous concepts present in the Tennessee Williams book
of the same name are omitted. The overall plot remains the same; Big Daddy, a wealthy plantation
owner in the 1950s Mississippi Delta, is dying of cancer while his alcoholic son Brick struggles to
come to terms with the recent death of his friend Skipper. However, key characteristics are edited and
ultimately shift the course of the film. The resulting movie depicts a less controversial story than that
told in the book by changing several crucial plot elements in order to appeal to a larger audience. On
the big screen, the story of Skipper takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book, Maggie believes that everything between her and Brick is fixed because he has agreed to
sleep with her, but Brick comments Wouldn t it be funny if that was true (173). Though it is no
fairytale ending, this ending is realistic and favorable for that reason. Brick and Maggie s differences
are not those that can be worked out in one day, and understanding this concept allows for a plausible,
comforting ending. In the movie however, everything between Maggie and Brick seems to be fine and
it is made to appear as though they will live happily ever after. Despite being a complete opposite of
the original ending, this ending is mostly unsettling because it is impractical. The realism from the
initial ending is thrown out in favor of the ending that will be the most appealing to a large audience.
The contrast between the two endings creates the biggest divide between the two versions and changes
the message of the story as a

Film Analysis Of Two Cars One Night
The films Two cars one night and Boy directed by Taika Waititi are based in New Zealand. Two cars
one night is a short film and the idea for the movie Boy was derived from it. Taika Waititi uses the
film aspects of light and dark lighting and symbolism to portray the themes and his style of directing
through his movie Boy and his short film two cars one night. Waititi uses the lens of a child to portray
what is happening throughout the movie plot to show the lasting moments in childhood. As a director
Taika Waititi expresses his concerns of viewing through the lens of innocence or a child. He explains
that what being creative is about having fun and looking at life through like a sort of the lens of a child
s eye through a ted talk. As it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lighting in this point in the film almost camouflages the car as it is pitch black at nighttime. It
enables the audience to only see the car s window and the faces inside the car. This gives the audience
a feeling of mystery as they re trying to work out who is inside the car. Waititi uses this aspect as well
in his other film, Two Cars One Night. He uses the lightning to control the audience s emotions around
who in what cars. By weaving the dark lightning around.
Set in 1984 The short film, Two cars one night utilizes the filming aspect of light and dark lighting to
the contrast between the two cars with children in a pub car park. The long shot exhibited in the scene
gives the picture of the two cars in the car parking lot while the adults are inside the pub. It shows the
aspect of safety and danger for the children as they wait for their parents to come out from inside of
the bar and pub. It also signifies the familiar and unknown as the children explore with their eyes what
is around them. Taika uses the aspect of light and dark light to symbolize danger and create tension
within this scene because as an audience we associate nighttime with being unsafe for children, and he
uses the dark light and children in this scene to create a sense of danger. An example of this is when
the car the two Boys are in is captured sitting still while the surrounding everything is moving, such as
the people and the dark night sky. It portrays the darkness

Growing Number Of Studies ( Ÿà ) Essay
Growing number of studies (e.g. (Kowsari and Zerriffi, 2011; O. R. Masera et al., 2000)) investigate
the impacts of various factors such as household income, and education status that would influence
household cooking fuel choice and then inform the policies to promote fuel switching to the modern
sources. Mainly, two broad conceptual models are popular in the area of household energy choice and
fuel transition in developing countries: Energy Ladder and Energy Stacking Models (Elias and Victor,
2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Leach, 1992; Leach and Mearns, 1988; O. Masera et al., 2000). These
models categorize energy resources into modern, transitional and traditional fuels given that different
cooking fuels are available in the region. Modern fuels such as LPG or electricity are interpreted as
superior because the inherent qualities of these fuels are relatively superior in terms of fuel efficiency
and sustainability when compared to the traditional fuels. Transitional fuels are consumed during the
transitional period; a period where traditional fuels are in the process of being replaced by the modern
fuels.
The factors influencing households fuel switching decisions in the energy ladder model are the
household income, relative fuel prices, and fuel accessibility. However, the energy ladder model of
perfect substitutability among the cooking fuels with respect to the income fails to be supported by
most empirical evidence (Heltberg, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Lee et al.,

Lord Of The Flies Jack Is A Leader Analysis
A powerful leader is one who knows how to lead with control and has strong leader characteristics. In
the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some readers support the fact that Jack was a better
leader than Ralph, but others feel that Ralph was the better leader. Although several supporters feel
that Ralph is the best leader, it is evident that Jack is the better leader since he can effortlessly control
the group on the island.
It is clear that Jack is a better leader than Ralph because he is more of a demanding, manipulative
person. From the time the boys landed on the island, Jack was in control of the choir. The other boys,
led by Jack, run off in disorganized excitement to light the signal fire (Reilly, 3). This quote shows that
the boys followed in Jack s footsteps since they set foot on the island. Along with controlling the
choir, Jack challenged Ralph s opinions. We do not need the conch anymore. We know who ought to
say things (Reilly, 4). This quote demonstrates that Jack is making an attempt to control the group by
doing what is best for him, and he demands that the boys support his decisions. In addition, Jack s
main priority was to hunt and give them what they want. The point is that Jack is doing what he wants,
not what he ought (Reilly, 5). This quote illustrates that Jack is aware that he is the leader of the group,
for he is doing what he wants and not what he has to. Clearly, it is evident that Jack is the best choice

Mental Illness Estimations
Estimation Errors and Criticisms Most of the data used to estimate prevalence of a mental illness is
collected through cross sectional studies that are obtained retrospectively. As a whole, Almansa et al.
(2014) go even further to state that epidemiological studies about lifetime disorders typically do not
use adequate methods of analysis (Almansa et al., 2014). Due to this cross sectional study design and
retrospective data collection, the estimations of lifetime prevalence obtained by direct computation
tend to underestimate the actual lifetime prevalence for the given mental illness or disorder (Almansa
et al., 2014). In order to understand how some of these basic prevalence calculations are made,
consider the following provided example. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be said to model the time to event data. The event of a survival analysis is the occurrence of
interest. In the context of this study, the occurrence would be the first symptom of a disorder. The time
for a survival analysis is the time until the event is observed, or the study is concluded. This time
observation can be measured in days, weeks, years, etc. (Despa, n.d.). The survival time would
indicate the time until the observed individual exhibits the first symptom for a disorder. A survival
function concentrates on the time until the desired event transpires. The cumulative probability of
events over time is calculated while adjusting other influential covariates (Singh Mukhopadhyay,
2011). If an individual in the study does not experience the event of interest during the study, then
their information becomes censored. Survival analysis is particularly useful when confronted by
censored data (Singh Mukhopadhyay, 2011). Censorship is a main component in developing functions
for survival analysis. For this study, censoring occurs when the information regarding the survival
time (time until the first symptom of a disorder occurs) is lacking; thus, there is information present
for a variable but it is not

Motives Behind Honor Killings
Some people believe that an individual s cultural background and family beliefs explain motives
behind honor killings. The cultural interpretation explains that honor killings are qualitatively different
from other kinds of murders because it is governed by the specific logic of an honour culture . Honor
killings are acceptable because they are part of a culture and support ethical agendas. For example, in
Turkey, namus represents sexual honor which overshadows women s physical and moral qualities.
Women are expected to protect their namus for their whole life. Male kin also have a duty to watch
over women and punish them if they deviate. The cultural defense is used to explain motivations
behind the defendants actions. Men believe

Media Comparative Essay: (in the medium of film) concerning the 2 well known film versions of
Shakespeare s Henry V of Olivier (1944) and Branagh (1989) in the specific scenes of A Little Touch

Laurence Olivier directed and starred in it himself as a patriotic call to the barricades. Olivier greatly
aspired to become one of the greatest actors of the twentieth century. His attempt in the role of the
main character Henry was nothing short of this by delivering an epic performance in the midst of a
gay, colourful depiction of battle. Kenneth Branagh s production (1989) attempted greater realism in
the battle scenes and focused more on Henry s inner conflicts. There was not as much emphasis on the
patriotic elements of the play as in Olivier s. Branagh s film was constructed many years after Olivier
s predominant original when it was considered a classic. Olivier created a total advance in
Shakespearean film and gave dawn to colour filming. A young Branagh would have to direct and act
admirably to stand alongside the preceding version. He would have to successfully comply as a
Shakespearean actor to take the familiar and make it new . Branagh heavily scrutinised Olivier s epic
work, employing and enhancing many of the methods Olivier inspired and developed, causing
Branagh s film to be labelled sometimes as an emulation. Still there is an obvious (yet often subtle)
extent to which Branagh tries

Faith And Transformation After Christ s Resurrection
Faith and Transformation after Christ s Resurrection Jesus Christ death and resurrection is important
to teach and prepare the people. There were so many insecurities and fears the people had about death
and some even felt unworthy to die innocent. After Jesus came here to simply eliminate the lies that
the world has conceived regarding the body and where the soul would end. Scholars believed in
reincarnation like Josephus, who called it transmigration. Others like the Pharisee s , they believed in
the resurrection and thought the soul of the righteous lives on in a new body and the wicked souls
perish. Paul of Tarsus explains, in (1 Cor 15:40 44) that there are two bodies a heavenly body and an
earthly body. They laid Christ s dead body into the tomb with dishonor and he raised in glory his risen
body from the dead. In another way to explain a believer in the resurrection of a body without their
full understanding, according to Klawans Josephus write, a Maccabean martyr looked at his hands and
spoke , I hope to get these hands back again (pg.108 Josephus Theologies), meaning when he dies he
wanted to return in the same body in which he had his faith in. At that moment, the martyr could have
begun to believe in Christ s words, explained that the resurrected body is not like the first, Mark 14:58

Last Thursday my uncle Jeff overheard me and a friend talking on the phone. We were talking about

Explain How Economic And Economic Conditions Influence...
Economic conditions influence people s attitudes towards post materialist issues depending on the
economic situation they grew up in., Ronald Inglehart, a political scientist, argued that the economic
conditions that a person experienced early in their life influences their world views throughout their
life. For example, individuals who grew up in economic uncertainty tend to emphasize materialistic
views in terms of their political preferences. As a result, these individuals are more likely to care about
job security, wage stability, and health care. In contrast, individuals who grew up with economic
security tend to emphasize post materialistic views in terms of their political preferences. As a
consequence, these individuals are more likely

The Zodiac Signs
Hi! I m a Gemini. So, what s your sign? I m never at a loss for words, but your beauty leaves me
speechless. Although these sound like cheesy pick up lines from the sixties or seventies, there can be a
valid reason as to why people use them.
The zodiac is a band of the sky along which the Sun, the Moon, and most of the planets move. It is
divided into twelve parts, with each named for a nearby constellation. The twelve zodiac or
astrological signs are associated with four essential elements, which are used to describe a person s
place in the world. Those elements are air, water, earth, and fire. All of these must co exist peacefully
and work together in sync in order to achieve balance in life. The twelve zodiac signs are assigned to
certain dates and houses that portray and describe the characteristics and personality of an individual.
Since my birthday is on May 26th, I am a Gemini. In order to be considered a Gemini, an individual s
birthday would have to fall between the approximate dates of May 21st and June 20th. Just like the
eleven other signs, Gemini has its own traits and characteristics that are said to be associated with a
person born within those dates. However, traits that are specified for a certain sign do not always have
to match that person. There can be instances where a person is considered to be a particular sign, but
in reality they are not anything like it.
Gemini, one of the zodiac constellations, is the sign of the twins. It is the

John Locke Vs Rousseau
The truth is, one who seeks to achieve freedom by petitioning those in power to give it to him has
already failed, regardless of the response. To beg for the blessing of authority is to accept that the
choice is the master s alone to make, which means that the person is already, by definition, a slave.
(Larken Rose) The Enlightenment brought change to the world we live in during the 18th century. We
were gifted with many thinkers, philosophers, and new ideas about how we learn in our society. Two
philosophers we receive are John Locke, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. Both of these men were
advocates for natural law in some form, and believed in freedom and equality. In this essay, I will go

One of his arguments for why education at the time was flawed was because it was man made. He
believed that the educational system should interfere as little as it can during the child s natural
development because the system would corrupt their development. His view of education was that it
should emphasize the development of children, that it should be focused on the student rather than the
material that is being taught. He saw the education system as a problem since it was tailored to teach
specifics and can hinder their intellectual development. Suit man s education to man, and not to what
is not man. Do you not see that, in working to fashion him solely for one state, you render him useless
for any other? (Rousseau, 2016) He claims that natural development can teach a broad view of the
world and therefore can be seen as a better form of education. To Rousseau, an ideal way of ensuring
the proper education of a child, they should be placed in direct contact with nature without the
influence of others opinions. Another key idea of Rousseau s philosophy was his view on women s
education. He was credited with having a view of equality, however, he did not see women as equals
of men. He thought women were less rational and weaker than men and they depend on men. He
states in another one of his famous works, Emile, that a woman s main

Themes of Hopelessness in Herman Melville’s Bartleby the...
We can never be one hundred percent certain of the validity of our literary analyses. This is especially
the case with Herman Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener . Critics have been trying for decades to make
sense of the text and most will describe it as inscrutable . I don t claim to know better than the critics,
but instead offer my own interpretation of the work. Based on my observations and analysis, Melville
s use of many elements in his story first and foremost the character of Bartleby, but also the dead
letters, the many walls of Wall Street, and the state of Wall Street itself works well to develop a sense
of hopelessness, whether intentional or not, in the story as well as the narrator and consequently the
reader. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He [the lawyer] refers to Turkey as a most valuable person to me (p. 22) and to Nippers as a very
useful man to me (p. 25). Even Ginger Nut, the office boy, is useful in that his duty as cake and apple
purveyor (p. 27) pacifies Turkey and Nippers and thus keeps them working. In other words, the lawyer
considers his employees useful insofar as he can exploit them and make money from their labor.
(Wilson)
Bartleby, however, who prefers not to do any work after a short period of working in the office,
greatly discourages the lawyer because he does not prove useful in any way.
As a further character development, Melville encourages the reader to consider Bartleby himself as a
type of dead letter (Weinstock). Bartleby doesn t serve the purpose he intended to when he refuses to
do work, in the same way the dead letters (1111) that Bartleby used to work with did not serve the
function they were intended for. It is important to note that in a dead letter office, the letters are
undeliverable and so they have their content destroyed. Bartleby would prefer not to do anything and
thus wasted away to death a drawn out process of content destruction. In this case the content refers to
Bartleby s soul (1098) and hope, and eventually, self.
We can expect that the lawyer s prolonged exposure to an attitude such

Afghanistan is a developing country; the country has faced a lot of troubles and difficulties soon after

Despite several problems, the country is upgrading slowly and gradually. Numerous countries

The Turn Of The Screw Analysis
The Turn of the Screw is one of the most controversial works in literature and the text has provoked a
variety of critical interpretations from its publication in 1898. In this novel, the governess tells her
experience with two apparitions that no one but she could see. And the governess accuses the ghosts
of servants for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora. Critics concerning about the truth of the story
are divided two basic camps based on their acceptance or rejection of the governess s credibility as a
storyteller. Some critics believe that the ghosts are real and the governess is a rational and credible
narrator, while the others believe that the ghosts are hallucinations of the governess and regard the
governess as an incredible and mentally abnormal narrator. Also, we could speculate the author s
intention on the basis of his life experience and other works of Henry James. This essay will examine
the reliability of the governess on the basis of the text and interpret Henry James s intention on the
basis of other sources. The critics from psychanalytic perspective claim that the existence of ghosts is
the governess s hysterical delusion. The ghost is the projection of governess s own sexual hysteria,
which resulted from the conflict between native romantic impulses and idealistic innocence required
by Victorian society (Renner). The inexperienced governess encounters the handsome, bold, young
gentleman with charming ways with women (James, 4) and she

The Gospel Of Matthew Is Considered A Gospel
The Gospel of Matthew is considered a Gospel based on the premise that it describes the life, death

preferred standard to communicate the mystery of Christ. A Gospel is the committing to write of a
narrative born of the faith filled vision, theological perspective and pastoral concerns of the evangelist
(Mullins 2007, VI). The famous theologian Rudolf Bultmann saw the gospel as an original Christian
creation that centered on faith; cult and pastoral concerns arising from and illustrating the Christian
Kerygma (Mullins 2007, IV). Kerygma is a fancy Greek word that is the very heart of the gospel, the

Numerous studies show that the Gospels of Luke and Matthew contain much material from the Q
source and none in Mark s Gospel. This is significant as the contents of these texts apparently passed
down verbally from one generation to another. The M source on the other hand is a hypothetical
textual source likely written by Matthew and defined as special material that is neither Q source nor
Markan. The M source distinguishes itself from both Q and Markan influence with inclusions such as
Jesus s Genealogy (Matthew 1:1 17) and the Infant Story (Matthew 1:18 23). The Gospel of Mark or
Markan material is plausibly the earliest of the Gospels and an influence to the Lukan and Matthean
writings. There are 661 verses in Mark, 606 of those verses appear in Matthew, however Matthew is a
simple, easy to read style as compared to that of Mark.

energy which gets blood flowing faster which means they can concentrate better.

You two will keep doing that until you are able to do it on your own without the help of your

is not even made up yet, but for the first part all you have to do is find a song that you will be able to
skate and dance to. The most important rule you should remember while you are picking you song is
that the song has to be absolutely clean or else the judges will either deduct points from your score or
you will be disqualified it will most likely be the latter. Once you picked out a song give it to your
instructor to listen to and see if they approve of your choice of music. The second part is that your
instructor will either be able to make up a routine to go along with the music you had chosen or they
will tell you to choose a different song. Another option is that they can choose a song for you to skate
to. The reason why the last two options are there is because your instructor may not like the music you
had chosen since before they even listen to the music you chosen they are already figuring out what
will be put in your routine and how it will be put together. Next, you will begin practicing your routine

Community Planning And Community Planning
Economic Development refers to economic growth, while economic growth refers to increase in GDP
(Nafziger, 2012). Economic development requires the government s dedications, incentives, vision,
and leadership (Morgan, 2011). Smart economic development, on the other hand, leverages
technology to increase efficiency, and reduce cost. It requires the government s dedications,
incentives, vision, and leadership. Public Wi Fi, for example, can be used as a tool to connect business
and citizens by supporting business transactions. Private investments and businesses play key roles in
ensuring a strong economy (McConnell, Brue Flynn, 2009). The goal of economic development is to
reduce unemployment, create jobs, lower poverty, lower crime rate, and increase income, which may
lead to a strong economy, better quality of life, and prosperity. Figure 2 illustrates the economic
development process map. Community Planning, on the other hand, is a strategic process of creating
innovative solutions to solve the community challenges, protect, and preserve the community s assets
(infrastructure, attractions, business, utilities, libraries, schools, personal properties, and the people).
The goals of community planning are building a community based sustainable food system, manage
water resources and develop conservation strategies, provide decent housing for the resident, foster
and expand economic opportunities, create laws, policies, zoning, and regulations, and design and

The Journey Of Susan B. Anthony
Dare to Vote: The Journey of Susan B. Anthony
Susan B. Anthony entered the juryless courtroom. A judge sat before her. Just shortly after she arrived,
Anthony said, I have many things to say. My every right, constitutional, civil, political and judicial has
been tramped upon. I have not only had no jury of my peers, but I have had no jury at all
(ecssba.rutgers.edu). Anthony stressed that the laws were not fair only because they were created by
men. The courtroom tensed as she made more points clearly proving the judge wrong about the laws
made forth in the United States. Susan B. Anthony refused to sit, fearing that it would be her last
chance to speak her freedom in the courtroom. The tension was brewing and the judge continued to
rebut Anthony s firm arguments. She made it clear that it was biased laws that were being created
against women. Anthony wanted to change that. Her confident statements about her fine for one
hundred dollars because of her decision to vote even though it was against the law, made the
courtroom quiet. Many uncomfortably shifted back and forth in their chairs, looking at Anthony s
every movement. Anthony maintained a calm, yet effective speech despite the pressure upon her. She
continued to state that it was only wrong of her to vote because she was a woman, and that she was
not being treated like a human being as stated in the amendments. Susan B. Anthony, women s rights

What Is Dedication Essay
In order to excel, you must be completely dedicated to your chosen sport. You must also be prepared
to work hard and be willing to accept constructive criticism. Without one hundred percent dedication,
you won t be able to do this. Willie Mays. This quote is a perfect example of dedication because it
informs the reader that dedication is required to accomplish a task. However, dedication does not only
have to be connected to a sport (as stated by the quote), but it can apply to any type of goal, passion,
or task. Dedication can be described as putting extra time and effort to reach a goal that someone is
striving towards, and it can be seen in people that have a passion that they want to achieve.

First, dedication is not slacking off. This means people may keep pushing off a task to do it later, or
they may be taking a rest or not doing their job while at work. Slacking off may be easier than all the
effort that needs to be put into being dedicated, but that goal people are striving towards will never be
accomplished. Dedication is not just being mediocre or going through the motions in life. Many
people to get a job done will just do the task they were assigned very quickly and sloppily. After
finishing that task they will not look for work to do. They may sit around and wait to see what their
manager tells them to do next. That is not how be dedicated towards something. If people want a goal
to be accomplished they need to be completing that task quickly and correctly. Then after finishing
that task they need to be looking to see what they can do next. They cannot be sitting around waiting
to be told what to do next. Finally, Dedication is not giving up or quitting on a task that is trying to be
completed. Completing a task or striving towards a goal may be difficult, but the answer is never to
give up or quit. That just shows that people have no interest or do not care about what they are doing.
If people are dedicated they should reach that goal, and there is no excuse to not reach it. Even if
failure happens, part of being

Imbalance In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
Imbalance is at the center of mayhem
As the French philosopher Baron de Montesquieu believed, a system of checks and balances of power
are necessary to have a society. William Golding had written the Lord of the Flies, a book about a
group of young boys stranded on a island needing to find ways of survival. His book portrays how
Montesquieu s idea of checks and balances are needed to make an ideal community. On the island,
Jack and Ralph were the two boys that seemed most fit to be leaders among these stranded boys and at
first the island was a safe place for living, until Jack gains more and more control where the levels of
authority are not equal. With Jack having most of the control, there is an absence of balance and this
absence of balance between powers on the island causes the boys turn to savagery and chaos. Golding
writes of the boys failing to have a mindset of surviving together by living their life on the island with
an imbalance of power to govern themselves and by having this imbalance, the boys kill each other
and destroy the island to rise in dominance, which is what Montesquieu predicted would happen if
there was no checks of power and balance between sides.
In the Lord of the Flies, Golding shows how the boys on the island fail to govern themselves since
Jack s authority grows too fast and Ralph can t limit him. Golding s book agrees with how
Montesquieu believed having three branches of leadership ideally keeps the governmental system
balanced. There are

Federal tax exemption for charitable organizations has been in existence since the beginning of federal
income tax law. This exemption is based on the principle that the federal government s loss of tax
revenue is equivalent to the relief of financial burdens charitable organizations provide that would
otherwise have to be supported by public funds. Nonprofit hospitals are able to qualify for federal tax
exemption under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code because the Internal Revenue Service
(IRS) has recognized the promotion of health for the benefit of the community, where medical
assistance is afforded to the poor or where medical research is promoted, as a charitable purpose. (U.S.
Government Accountability Office, 2008) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1969, the IRS established broader standards for nonprofit hospital tax exemption status based on
the extent to which these hospitals provide community benefit to the communities they serve.
(Somerville, 2012) From 1969 to the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care
Act (ACA) in 2010, there were some attempts to change this policy, however these attempts largely
failed. Prior to the implementation of the ACA, community benefit activities included providing free
and discounted care to uninsured and low income patients, reimbursement shortfalls associated with
participation in Medicaid programs, activities to promote population health improvement, programs to
increase access to care, medical research, training for health professionals, and other contributions that
benefit the hospital s community. Under the ACA, additional requirements were established for
hospitals to be qualified as tax exempt including conducting a community health needs assessment at
least every 3 years and develop an implementation strategy to address the needs identified by the
assessment, adopting and publicizing a written financial assistance policy, and limiting charges,
billing, and debt collection practices directed to individuals who qualify for financial assistance. (The
Hilltop Institute, 2013b) While the IRS

The Extent to Which Psychological Theories Have Been Successful in Explaining Attachments
There are various psychological theories to regard as which have been successful in explaining
attachments and I will be explaining the majority of them.
Sigmund Freud developed a theory of personality an explanation of how each individual s personality
develops. This theory can be used to explain many aspects of behaviour, including attachment.
Feud proposed that attachment grows out of the feeding relationship. In essence Freud claimed that
infants are born with an innate drive to seek pleasure. He called this the pleasure principle, and
suggested that one structure of the personality (id) was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relationship with the primary caregiver acts as a template for all later relationships
However, the classic experiments of Harry Harlow (1959) on rhesus monkeys demonstrated that this
theory was inadequate. This study concerned rhesus monkeys who were raised on their own by two
wire mothers . One wire mother had a feeding bottle attached and the other and the other was wrapped
in soft cloth but offered no cloth. According to the learning theory, the young monkeys should have
become attached to the mother associated with food and offering drive reduction. In fact, the monkeys
spent most time with the cloth covered mother and would cling to it especially when they were
frightened.
These studies suggest that cupboard love is not likely to be an explanation for attachment, though we
must remember that this research concerned monkeys and it may not be wholly appropriate to
generalise the findings to human behaviour.
Schaffer and Emerson (1964) conducted an important study observing the development of attachments
in 60 infants who came largely from working class homes in Glasgow. The infants were observed over
a period of a year in their homes.
The results of the study proved that infants were not most attached to the person who fed them, nor to
the person who spent most time with them. They were most attached to the person who was most
responsive and interacted

Vietnam War Influence
Initially, the war in Vietnam was in many ways, trivial involving only limited action by a world
superpower on distant battlefields of the Third World. However, US commitment in Southeast Asia
persisted across fifteen years, marking it as the longest war in American History. The conflict took
place during and thus became intertwined with the turbulent cultural and social uprisings of the 1960s,
ultimately shifting the country s course over the latter half of the 20th century. A flashpoint in the Cold
War, the Vietnam War was essentially a contest of diplomatic and ideological hostility and an
extension of the US s policy of containment, which later exposed a myriad of other geopolitical, social
and military ideas. It was also, however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During that time over 50,000 US servicemen were killed in action, figures, which although
devastating, pale beside Vietnamese losses. The ARVN lost 200,000 soldiers and the NVA lost a
further 900,000. America had won every battle, but the war itself, had been lost. Victory was delivered
to a Third World guerrilla force, due in part, to a superpower s underestimation of its enemy s tactics
and morale, but also the societal upheavals that damaged its own consensus for

HOW MY OWN VALUES, BELIEFS AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCES MIGHT AFFECT MY
WORK PRACTICE Everyone has different values, beliefs and preferences. What you believe in, what
you see as important and what you see as acceptable or desirable is an essential part of who you are.
[pic] The way in which you respond to people is linked to what you believe in, what you consider
important and what interests you. You may find you react positively to people who share your values
and less warmly to people who have different priorities. When you develop friendships, it is natural to
spend time with people who share your interests and values. However, the professional relationships

Mental Health History Of Schizophrenia
God must have been having a bad day, a father recently wrote me, when He allowed schizophrenia to
come into existence. E. Fuller Torrey, M.D. (Walsh, 1985)
1. History of schizophrenic theory Accounts of schizophrenia have been recorded all throughout
human history. From Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, Rome and India, all the way through the 15th and
17th centuries (Walker, 2003). It is difficult to truly ascertain whether or not this was schizophrenia or
other psychotic illnesses. My guess is it was probably both. Throughout mental health history, theory
on schizophrenia has changed in every aspect possible. Etiology, age of onset and even the disorder s
name has been changed, questioned, and changed yet again. The highly insightful ... Show more

Bleuler was an advocate for the psychoanalytic movement which had strong traction during his time.
Hafner (2014) writes that Bleuler classified the now hallmark symptoms of delusions and
hallucinations as accessory symptoms , since they were common in other psychotic disorders as well.
The basic symptoms, Bleuler argued, were the four A s, which stood for ambivalence, autism,
affective congruity and association disturbances. This is not surprising, since Bleuler was an advocate
of the psychoanalytic movement, so to Bleuler, emotional disturbances were obviously the cause of a
schizophrenic disturbance. The differing early views of Kraeplin and Bleuler are significantly
important to our current understanding of schizophrenia in the fact that both could be considered
partially correct. Kraeplin s claims could be, in today s terms, highlighting the neurobiological deficits
(such as gradual overall volumetric loss of key neuronal structures and genetic predispositions towards
structural deficits occurring during crucial developmental periods) that current researchers are
investigating as contributing causes of schizophrenia. On the other hand, Bleuler s claims of emotional
disturbances probably are not one of the primary causes of developing schizophrenia, but
schizophrenia s symptoms and comorbid disorders can be exacerbated by the schizophrenic individual

The Wedding Cake Model Theory Of Criminal Justice
In Sense and Nonsense About Crime, Drugs, and Communities, the Wedding Cake Model Theory of
Criminal Justice was established by Samuel Walker, a intellectual who analyzed the judicial system.
The Wedding Cake theory separates the proceedings of the criminal justice system into four different
categories: celebrated cases, serious felonies, lesser felonies and misdemeanors. The Wedding Cake
Model Theory allows for a closer study of these different classification of cases based on the
techniques, in which they are handled within the criminal justice system. The top layer of the Wedding
Cake Model Theory of Criminal Justice involves the celebrated cases. These variety of cases harvest
an extreme deal of media attention because the crimes are

The process of discovery is often, a rigid and gruelling journey which leads an individual or group to formulate new perspectives as truth is uncovered. This is explored in the reality documentary series directed by Ivan O Mahoney s Go Back To Where You Came From which encapsulates the hardships of asylum seekers catalysing the participants emotional and intellectual rediscovery. Chemical Weapons Convention ( Cwc ) Chemical Weapons Convention By: Jamie Dainty John Sununu once said and I quote, When we re talking about technology that involves weapons of mass destruction, nuclear, chemical or biological weapons, there has to be an element of preemption . Chemical weapons are being fought by chemical weapons convention (CWC), but what is CWC? When some people hear chemical weapons convention they might get the wrong idea in their head. They might think of something more along the lines of a gathering where they would show their latest models of their chemical weapon products. But in this case that s not exactly what it is. (Organisation for prohibition of chemical weapons) The purpose/function of a chemical weapon is to cause physical harm ranging from discomfort to death. (NTI) The convention is made up of a preamble, twenty four articles and three annexes; annexes on chemicals, the verification annex and the confidentiality. (Organisation for the prohibition of chemical weapons) In 1925 after the world war one, the Geneva Protocol prohibited chemical weapons in warfare (U.N.O.D.A.), which can be viewed as the first step to the chemical weapons convention. Banning chemical weapons due to the devastating outcomes of the usage of the weapons, devastating outcomes such as deaths and mutations, have made the steps to take to chemical weapons much easier. Yet the chemical weapons convention wasn t started until it was signed in 1993 by president George H.W. Bush and ratified in 1997, which is about sixty eight to seventy two years later. When elevating the startup cost without paying any type of the utilities or for rent. The start up cost will be closely around $5700. This will contain a small amount of reserves with equipment, material supplies beginning inventory, operating cost, business license, advertisement and miscellaneous expense. This is a small start up cost and seems to be very logically stable to start Empower Snacks program. Although, when projecting revenue logically, when manufacturing everything manually with an inexperienced staff, the period to manufacture these items for consumption will be instituted at a greater degree than common manufacturing periods. When examining the revenue projections, having a 12 hour week supervisor with an advanced wage, will project a loss in revenue or establish a high amount of units to be manufactured to break even. This amount of units would not be practical for an inexperienced staff or producing these products manually, in addition not in a manufacturing setting. Recommendations would to base revenue income on having an $11 $13 hour supervisor trained. This would produce revenues to have a break even point at a smaller unit amount that is more feasible for a handmade product with an inexperienced staff. • 6. Civility In Lord Of The Flies Analysis Noah A. Shelanski Fritz English 2H Set 6 26 October 2017 An Anticipated Evolution: Civility to Barbarism in the Children of Lord of the Flies There are many laws and unspoken and logical rules that keep society civil. In the beginning of Lord of the Flies, Roger finds himself throwing minuscule stones at the younger boys, however missing them, due to the conditioning of society. This is a result of the little boys being protected by policemen, parents, school and the law. It is also evident and true that there are other factors that allow for civility to prosper in humanity, some of which are present on the island with the boys, but some factors are extremely scarce. But it is when these factors are mostly absent or diminish, that the idea and foundation of civilization will weaken or fade. William Golding allows symbols to show a complex, yet beautiful and convincing transition from a theme of civility and order, to one of savagery and also moral depravity. The reason for this new theme being that the boys are faced with an internal danger; the true nature of humanity, which fuels the drastic change from innocent boys who abide by rules to rabid animals. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, while the conch symbol best conveys the influence of the adult world on the boys, the conch symbol, paired with the pig hunt motif best conveys the theme of regression into savagery. Although the island lacks an adult authority figure, the conch symbolizes the adult world. Since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This gives the audience a feeling of mystery as they re trying to work out who is inside the car. Waititi uses this aspect as well in his other film, Two Cars One Night. He uses the lightning to control the audience s emotions around who in what cars. By weaving the dark lightning around. Set in 1984 The short film, Two cars one night utilizes the filming aspect of light and dark lighting to the contrast between the two cars with children in a pub car park. The long shot exhibited in the scene gives the picture of the two cars in the car parking lot while the adults are inside the pub. It shows the aspect of safety and danger for the children as they wait for their parents to come out from inside of the bar and pub. It also signifies the familiar and unknown as the children explore with their eyes what is around them. Taika uses the aspect of light and dark light to symbolize danger and create tension within this scene because as an audience we associate nighttime with being unsafe for children, and he uses the dark light and children in this scene to create a sense of danger. • 12. Growing Number Of Studies ( Ÿà ) Essay Growing number of studies (e.g. (Kowsari and Zerriffi, 2011; O. R. Masera et al., 2000)) investigate the impacts of various factors such as household income, and education status that would influence household cooking fuel choice and then inform the policies to promote fuel switching to the modern sources. Mainly, two broad conceptual models are popular in the area of household energy choice and fuel transition in developing countries: Energy Ladder and Energy Stacking Models (Elias and Victor, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Leach, 1992; Leach and Mearns, 1988; O. Masera et al., 2000). These models categorize energy resources into modern, transitional and traditional fuels given that different cooking fuels are available in the region. Modern fuels such as LPG or electricity are interpreted as superior because the inherent qualities of these fuels are relatively superior in terms of fuel efficiency and sustainability when compared to the traditional fuels. Transitional fuels are consumed during the transitional period; a period where traditional fuels are in the process of being replaced by the modern fuels. The factors influencing households fuel switching decisions in the energy ladder model are the household income, relative fuel prices, and fuel accessibility. However, the energy ladder model of perfect substitutability among the cooking fuels with respect to the income fails to be supported by most empirical evidence (Heltberg, 2005; Hosier and Dowd, 1987; Lee et al., ... • 13. Lord Of The Flies Jack Is A Leader Analysis A powerful leader is one who knows how to lead with control and has strong leader characteristics. In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some readers support the fact that Jack was a better leader than Ralph, but others feel that Ralph was the better leader. Although several supporters feel that Ralph is the best leader, it is evident that Jack is the better leader since he can effortlessly control the group on the island. It is clear that Jack is a better leader than Ralph because he is more of a demanding, manipulative person. From the time the boys landed on the island, Jack was in control of the choir. The other boys, led by Jack, run off in disorganized excitement to light the signal fire (Reilly, 3). This quote shows that the boys followed in Jack s footsteps since they set foot on the island. Along with controlling the choir, Jack challenged Ralph s opinions. We do not need the conch anymore. We know who ought to say things (Reilly, 4). This quote demonstrates that Jack is making an attempt to control the group by doing what is best for him, and he demands that the boys support his decisions. In addition, Jack s main priority was to hunt and give them what they want. The point is that Jack is doing what he wants, not what he ought (Reilly, 5). This quote illustrates that Jack is aware that he is the leader of the group, for he is doing what he wants and not what he has to. Mental Illness Estimations Estimation Errors and Criticisms Most of the data used to estimate prevalence of a mental illness is collected through cross sectional studies that are obtained retrospectively. As a whole, Almansa et al. (2014) go even further to state that epidemiological studies about lifetime disorders typically do not use adequate methods of analysis (Almansa et al., 2014). Due to this cross sectional study design and retrospective data collection, the estimations of lifetime prevalence obtained by direct computation tend to underestimate the actual lifetime prevalence for the given mental illness or disorder (Almansa et al., 2014). It can be said to model the time to event data. The event of a survival analysis is the occurrence of interest. In the context of this study, the occurrence would be the first symptom of a disorder. The time for a survival analysis is the time until the event is observed, or the study is concluded. This time observation can be measured in days, weeks, years, etc. (Despa, n.d.). The survival time would indicate the time until the observed individual exhibits the first symptom for a disorder. A survival function concentrates on the time until the desired event transpires. The cumulative probability of events over time is calculated while adjusting other influential covariates (Singh Mukhopadhyay, 2011). If an individual in the study does not experience the event of interest during the study, then their information becomes censored. Survival analysis is particularly useful when confronted by censored data (Singh Mukhopadhyay, 2011). Censorship is a main component in developing functions for survival analysis. Olivier greatly aspired to become one of the greatest actors of the twentieth century. His attempt in the role of the main character Henry was nothing short of this by delivering an epic performance in the midst of a gay, colourful depiction of battle. Kenneth Branagh s production (1989) attempted greater realism in the battle scenes and focused more on Henry s inner conflicts. There was not as much emphasis on the patriotic elements of the play as in Olivier s. Branagh s film was constructed many years after Olivier s predominant original when it was considered a classic. Olivier created a total advance in Shakespearean film and gave dawn to colour filming. A young Branagh would have to direct and act admirably to stand alongside the preceding version. He would have to successfully comply as a Shakespearean actor to take the familiar and make it new . There were so many insecurities and fears the people had about death and some even felt unworthy to die innocent. After Jesus came here to simply eliminate the lies that the world has conceived regarding the body and where the soul would end. Scholars believed in reincarnation like Josephus, who called it transmigration. Others like the Pharisee s , they believed in the resurrection and thought the soul of the righteous lives on in a new body and the wicked souls perish. Paul of Tarsus explains, in (1 Cor 15:40 44) that there are two bodies a heavenly body and an earthly body. They laid Christ s dead body into the tomb with dishonor and he raised in glory his risen body from the dead. In another way to explain a believer in the resurrection of a body without their full understanding, according to Klawans Josephus write, a Maccabean martyr looked at his hands and spoke , I hope to get these hands back again (pg.108 Josephus Theologies), meaning when he dies he wanted to return in the same body in which he had his faith in. Economic conditions influence people s attitudes towards post materialist issues depending on the economic situation they grew up in., Ronald Inglehart, a political scientist, argued that the economic conditions that a person experienced early in their life influences their world views throughout their life. For example, individuals who grew up in economic uncertainty tend to emphasize materialistic views in terms of their political preferences. As a result, these individuals are more likely to care about job security, wage stability, and health care. Although these sound like cheesy pick up lines from the sixties or seventies, there can be a valid reason as to why people use them. The zodiac is a band of the sky along which the Sun, the Moon, and most of the planets move. It is divided into twelve parts, with each named for a nearby constellation. The twelve zodiac or astrological signs are associated with four essential elements, which are used to describe a person s place in the world. Those elements are air, water, earth, and fire. All of these must co exist peacefully and work together in sync in order to achieve balance in life. The twelve zodiac signs are assigned to certain dates and houses that portray and describe the characteristics and personality of an individual. Since my birthday is on May 26th, I am a Gemini. In order to be considered a Gemini, an individual s birthday would have to fall between the approximate dates of May 21st and June 20th. Just like the eleven other signs, Gemini has its own traits and characteristics that are said to be associated with a person born within those dates. However, traits that are specified for a certain sign do not always have to match that person. There can be instances where a person is considered to be a particular sign, but in reality they are not anything like it. Gemini, one of the zodiac constellations, is the sign of the twins. To beg for the blessing of authority is to accept that the choice is the master s alone to make, which means that the person is already, by definition, a slave. (Larken Rose) The Enlightenment brought change to the world we live in during the 18th century. We were gifted with many thinkers, philosophers, and new ideas about how we learn in our society. One of his arguments for why education at the time was flawed was because it was man made. He believed that the educational system should interfere as little as it can during the child s natural development because the system would corrupt their development. His view of education was that it should emphasize the development of children, that it should be focused on the student rather than the material that is being taught. He saw the education system as a problem since it was tailored to teach specifics and can hinder their intellectual development. Suit man s education to man, and not to what is not man. Do you not see that, in working to fashion him solely for one state, you render him useless for any other? (Rousseau, 2016) He claims that natural development can teach a broad view of the world and therefore can be seen as a better form of education. To Rousseau, an ideal way of ensuring the proper education of a child, they should be placed in direct contact with nature without the influence of others opinions. Another key idea of Rousseau s philosophy was his view on women s education. He was credited with having a view of equality, however, he did not see women as equals of men. • 26. Themes of Hopelessness in Herman Melville’s Bartleby the... We can never be one hundred percent certain of the validity of our literary analyses. This is especially the case with Herman Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener . Critics have been trying for decades to make sense of the text and most will describe it as inscrutable . I don t claim to know better than the critics, but instead offer my own interpretation of the work. Based on my observations and analysis, Melville s use of many elements in his story first and foremost the character of Bartleby, but also the dead letters, the many walls of Wall Street, and the state of Wall Street itself works well to develop a sense of hopelessness, whether intentional or not, in the story as well as the narrator and consequently the reader. In other words, the lawyer considers his employees useful insofar as he can exploit them and make money from their labor. (Wilson) Bartleby, however, who prefers not to do any work after a short period of working in the office, greatly discourages the lawyer because he does not prove useful in any way. As a further character development, Melville encourages the reader to consider Bartleby himself as a type of dead letter (Weinstock). Bartleby doesn t serve the purpose he intended to when he refuses to do work, in the same way the dead letters (1111) that Bartleby used to work with did not serve the function they were intended for. It is important to note that in a dead letter office, the letters are undeliverable and so they have their content destroyed. Bartleby would prefer not to do anything and thus wasted away to death a drawn out process of content destruction. In this case the content refers to Bartleby s soul (1098) and hope, and eventually, self. We can expect that the lawyer s prolonged exposure to an attitude such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Turn Of The Screw Analysis The Turn of the Screw is one of the most controversial works in literature and the text has provoked a variety of critical interpretations from its publication in 1898. In this novel, the governess tells her experience with two apparitions that no one but she could see. And the governess accuses the ghosts of servants for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora. Critics concerning about the truth of the story are divided two basic camps based on their acceptance or rejection of the governess s credibility as a storyteller. Some critics believe that the ghosts are real and the governess is a rational and credible narrator, while the others believe that the ghosts are hallucinations of the governess and regard the governess as an incredible and mentally abnormal narrator. Also, we could speculate the author s intention on the basis of his life experience and other works of Henry James. This essay will examine the reliability of the governess on the basis of the text and interpret Henry James s intention on the basis of other sources. The critics from psychanalytic perspective claim that the existence of ghosts is the governess s hysterical delusion. The ghost is the projection of governess s own sexual hysteria, which resulted from the conflict between native romantic impulses and idealistic innocence required by Victorian society (Renner). • 37. Imbalance In Lord Of The Flies Analysis Imbalance is at the center of mayhem As the French philosopher Baron de Montesquieu believed, a system of checks and balances of power are necessary to have a society. William Golding had written the Lord of the Flies, a book about a group of young boys stranded on a island needing to find ways of survival. His book portrays how Montesquieu s idea of checks and balances are needed to make an ideal community. On the island, Jack and Ralph were the two boys that seemed most fit to be leaders among these stranded boys and at first the island was a safe place for living, until Jack gains more and more control where the levels of authority are not equal. With Jack having most of the control, there is an absence of balance and this absence of balance between powers on the island causes the boys turn to savagery and chaos. Golding writes of the boys failing to have a mindset of surviving together by living their life on the island with an imbalance of power to govern themselves and by having this imbalance, the boys kill each other and destroy the island to rise in dominance, which is what Montesquieu predicted would happen if there was no checks of power and balance between sides. In the Lord of the Flies, Golding shows how the boys on the island fail to govern themselves since Jack s authority grows too fast and Ralph can t limit him. • 40. Erich Remarque s Magnum Of All Quiet On The Western Front The First World War, or the ill named War to End all Wars, was one that brought hell to Earth and mankind. For the first time in history, industry had appeared to make killing efficient. In static trenches, young men from around the world were killed by artillery kilometres away, poison gas, and disease. All nations in the conflict experienced the creation of a Lost Generation; men who lost their lives, limbs, or the ability to live a normal life. Paul Baumer, the young German protagonist of All Quiet on the Western Front becomes a member of this sad generation through his sad journey to the ultimate elixir, death. In Erich Remarque s magnum opus All Quiet on the Western Front, Paul Baumer is faced by various emotionally jarring tests that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the Germans repel the French, Paul and his company push back, and for a moment, turn from men to animals. While running and killing Paul illustrates, We have lost all feeling for one another. We can hardly control ourselves when our glance lights on the form of some other men. We are insensible, dead men, who through some trick, some dreadful magic, are still able to run and to kill (Remarque 55). This moment demonstrates the damage that has occurred. Paul already considered himself a dead man, a men that has lost all humanity. It is this moment that is the first step in the hero s slow demise, in which he loses all joy and hope. It is impossible for, in the conditions described, to be able to return home; death becomes the only elixir. Hence, it only takes two more events in his short life for Paul Baumer to realise this elixir. After the initial French Offensive, Paul is given time to recover, getting leave and additional training. But, when he returns back to the front, he reaches the climax of the journey, as he kills a man in close quarters. While on a night expedition into No Man s Land, Baumer is surprised by a Frenchman, but is able to swiftly recover and, to his understanding, kill him. But in the morning, Paul is confronted with the truth: Then, he opens his eyes... • 41. Community Benefit Analysis on Federal Tax-Exemption for... Federal tax exemption for charitable organizations has been in existence since the beginning of federal income tax law. This exemption is based on the principle that the federal government s loss of tax revenue is equivalent to the relief of financial burdens charitable organizations provide that would otherwise have to be supported by public funds. Nonprofit hospitals are able to qualify for federal tax exemption under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code because the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has recognized the promotion of health for the benefit of the community, where medical assistance is afforded to the poor or where medical research is promoted, as a charitable purpose. In 1969, the IRS established broader standards for nonprofit hospital tax exemption status based on the extent to which these hospitals provide community benefit to the communities they serve. (Somerville, 2012) From 1969 to the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, there were some attempts to change this policy, however these attempts largely failed. Prior to the implementation of the ACA, community benefit activities included providing free and discounted care to uninsured and low income patients, reimbursement shortfalls associated with participation in Medicaid programs, activities to promote population health improvement, programs to increase access to care, medical research, training for health professionals, and other contributions that benefit the hospital s community. Under the ACA, additional requirements were established for hospitals to be qualified as tax exempt including conducting a community health needs assessment at least every 3 years and develop an implementation strategy to address the needs identified by the assessment, adopting and publicizing a written financial assistance policy, and limiting charges, billing, and debt collection practices directed to individuals who qualify for financial assistance. • 42. The Extent to Which Psychological Theories Have Been... The Extent to Which Psychological Theories Have Been Successful in Explaining Attachments There are various psychological theories to regard as which have been successful in explaining attachments and I will be explaining the majority of them. Sigmund Freud developed a theory of personality an explanation of how each individual s personality develops. This theory can be used to explain many aspects of behaviour, including attachment. Feud proposed that attachment grows out of the feeding relationship. In essence Freud claimed that infants are born with an innate drive to seek pleasure. He called this the pleasure principle, and suggested that one structure of the personality (id) was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The relationship with the primary caregiver acts as a template for all later relationships However, the classic experiments of Harry Harlow (1959) on rhesus monkeys demonstrated that this theory was inadequate. This study concerned rhesus monkeys who were raised on their own by two wire mothers . One wire mother had a feeding bottle attached and the other and the other was wrapped in soft cloth but offered no cloth. According to the learning theory, the young monkeys should have become attached to the mother associated with food and offering drive reduction. In fact, the monkeys spent most time with the cloth covered mother and would cling to it especially when they were frightened. These studies suggest that cupboard love is not likely to be an explanation for attachment, though we must remember that this research concerned monkeys and it may not be wholly appropriate to generalise the findings to human behaviour. Schaffer and Emerson (1964) conducted an important study observing the development of attachments in 60 infants who came largely from working class homes in Glasgow. The infants were observed over a period of a year in their homes. The results of the study proved that infants were not most attached to the person who fed them, nor to the person who spent most time with them. They were most attached to the person who was most responsive and interacted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, US commitment in Southeast Asia persisted across fifteen years, marking it as the longest war in American History. The conflict took place during and thus became intertwined with the turbulent cultural and social uprisings of the 1960s, ultimately shifting the country s course over the latter half of the 20th century. A flashpoint in the Cold War, the Vietnam War was essentially a contest of diplomatic and ideological hostility and an extension of the US s policy of containment, which later exposed a myriad of other geopolitical, social and military ideas. • 46. Mental Health History Of Schizophrenia God must have been having a bad day, a father recently wrote me, when He allowed schizophrenia to come into existence. E. Fuller Torrey, M.D. (Walsh, 1985) 1. History of schizophrenic theory Accounts of schizophrenia have been recorded all throughout human history. From Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, Rome and India, all the way through the 15th and 17th centuries (Walker, 2003). It is difficult to truly ascertain whether or not this was schizophrenia or other psychotic illnesses. My guess is it was probably both. Throughout mental health history, theory on schizophrenia has changed in every aspect possible. Etiology, age of onset and even the disorder s name has been changed, questioned, and changed yet again. The highly insightful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bleuler was an advocate for the psychoanalytic movement which had strong traction during his time. Hafner (2014) writes that Bleuler classified the now hallmark symptoms of delusions and hallucinations as accessory symptoms , since they were common in other psychotic disorders as well. The basic symptoms, Bleuler argued, were the four A s, which stood for ambivalence, autism, affective congruity and association disturbances. This is not surprising, since Bleuler was an advocate of the psychoanalytic movement, so to Bleuler, emotional disturbances were obviously the cause of a schizophrenic disturbance. The differing early views of Kraeplin and Bleuler are significantly important to our current understanding of schizophrenia in the fact that both could be considered partially correct. Kraeplin s claims could be, in today s terms, highlighting the neurobiological deficits (such as gradual overall volumetric loss of key neuronal structures and genetic predispositions towards structural deficits occurring during crucial developmental periods) that current researchers are investigating as contributing causes of schizophrenia. On the other hand, Bleuler s claims of emotional disturbances probably are not one of the primary causes of developing schizophrenia, but schizophrenia s symptoms and comorbid disorders can be exacerbated by the schizophrenic individual s ...
