Analysis Of Joey In Tangerine
In Tangerine, the author uses the novel entries of September 20th and October 3rd to describe Paul s
relationship with Joey. Paul s perspective of his friendship with Joey changes during these entries. In
the journal entry for September 20th, page 115, Paul views Joey as a friend. We know that Paul has
camaraderie with Joey because he invites Joey to go to Tangerine Middle with him. In the entry, after
Paul invites him to go to Tangerine Middle, he says, ... But I could sure use some company over at
Tangerine. Joey was really the only true friend that Paul has made in his time at Tangerine county, so
Paul thinks that if Joey joins him at Tangerine, then his experience there will be more enjoyable.
Through Paul s action of inviting Joey

The Causes Of The Border Patrol
This scenario is playing out on America s borders every day. The organization that manages the
Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection, has become the largest federal law enforcement agency
in the nation, and with that distinction comes some scrutiny. Two articles were written, the first by The
New York Times, the other by the Associated Press, that highlighted some disturbing trends within the
agency. The number of Border Patrol agents more than doubled between 2004 and 2011, when they
grew to over 20,000 employees, and that number continued to rise, reaching over 21,000 today.
Since...September 11, 2001, the focus of the Border Patrol has changed to detection, apprehension
and/or deterrence of terrorists or terrorist weapons, but as the agency uses that motto to grow its, it has
become increasingly clear that they are more concerned with keeping certain people out than keeping
the border safe. Increase in suicides among Border Patrol agents causes alarm, by the Associated Press
Paul J. Weber addresses the disturbing trend of suicides among Border Patrol agents. Between
February 2008 and August 2010, 15 Border Patrol agents had taken their own lives. There had not
been a single suicide in the agency for four years prior to that point. To further illustrate the
significance of that trend: the national rate of suicide at the time was 12 for every 100,000 people. The
Border Patrol s rate was at 30 per 100,000. So why the sudden spike? Some officials and family
members

My Dreamland Journey
There was approximately 586 miles between me and the place I was meant to be. Reno the land where
either your dreams come true or they come to die. I had tried so hard not to go, the journey was hard
but worth it. My Mother and Father were the ones that helped me get to where I am. My father packed
all my of my belongings for the journey to the dreamland. The plan was to leave in the morning, little
did we know there was so much we could not pack for, this was also a mental trip. In the morning we
packed all of my belongings into our automatic carriage, the journey is set to take off. We leave for
our trip and we will leave as a pair but only one of us will return to the homeland. My father says that
it will be a couple of hours before we reach a place for some food so it is crucial for us to have full
stomachs as we leave but we do not. So we have to stop as soon as we can for some food. Off to the
side of the road we see a maiden selling some fruit that could quench not only our empty stomach but
it will give us some important nutrients that actually make our taste buds blossom unlike the bland
water that we packed for our long journey. We stop and the fair maiden says that her fruit is the best of
the land, My father and I are very skeptical of this, because the fruit looked dry, weathered and not
very appetizing. We needed some sort of nourishment to survive the trip to the promise land, we
purchased the weathered fruit and to our surprise this was some of the best

Examples Of Realism In Breaking Bad
Breaking Bad
In order to understand the world politics in each way, we have to learn various international relations
theory because it provides a conceptual framework, which is used to analyse international relations.
Realism, liberalism, constructivism are one of the most well known theory. Breaking Bad is an
American television series. It narrates a life of Walter White, a high school chemistry with lung
cancer. He and his former student, Jesse Pinkman, try to produce and sell crystal meth to support his
family. International relations theory can be used to analyse why each character act in a particular way
by comparing each individual as a state. This essay will analyse this series based on realism.
First and foremost, according to realism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
States should heighten their security, for instance, by increasing military strength or making alliances
with others. In this series, after the death of Gonzo, Jesse is afraid that Tuco will kill him next. As a
consequence, he buys a gun to protect himself from this brutal man. In spite of the fact that he can
make a lot of money from him by producing and selling meth, his security comes first. In that
moment, he does not care about how much money that he can earn in the future because if he dies,
money will not be important anymore. Thus, he tries to convince Walter to help him to kill Tuco. This
is when he tries to make an alliance with his partner. Walter does concur with him because there is a
possibility that Tuco will go after him and his family also. Consequently, they try to make a plan to
kill this erratic violent drug dealer. Both do not consider wealth more important than their and their
beloved lives, which is same as Tuco. He value his life firstly. It can be seen that this character always
carry a gun. For example, in season 2, episode 1, Tuco captures Walter and Jesse in the house where is
far away from people. Although in this house only has four people, Walter, Jesse, his disabled uncle
and him, he still carries 2 guns, a handgun and a rifle, with him. The reason that he carry many
firearms might be because at that moment DEA is going after him, and he does not truly trust Walter
and Jesse as he barely

Truck Driving Vs Lawyers Research Paper
There are a lot of differences between truck driving and lawyers. I chose these careers because I like
driving trucks, and I am interested in diesel trucks. I also like to argue so being a lawyer makes sense.
Heavy and tractor trailer truck drivers transport goods from one location to another. Most tractor
trailer drivers are long haul drivers and operate trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) capacity
that is, the combined weight of the vehicle, passengers, and cargo exceeding 26,000 pounds. These
drivers deliver goods over intercity routes, sometimes spanning other states. Heavy and tractor trailer
truck drivers usually have a high school diploma and attend a professional truck driving school. After

Some of these include, bus drivers transport people, delivery truck transport drop off, taxi drivers
transport people. Material movers, water transportation workers and railroad workers could also be
included in this type of job. The second career is very different. Lawyers advise and represent clients
in court. They communicate with their clients. They can conduct research and analysis of legal
problems. Lawyers can interpret laws and regulations for individuals and businesses. There are many
kinds of lawyers, including environmental lawyers, tax lawyers, Intellectual property lawyers, family
lawyers, securities lawyers, and litigaty after ion. Becoming a lawyer usually takes 7 years of full time
study after high school 4 years of undergraduate study, followed by 3 years of law school. Most states
and jurisdictions require lawyers to complete a jurisdoctor (J.D.) degreefrom a law school accredited
by the American Bar Association (ABA). ABA accreditation signifies that the law school particulary
its curricula and faculty meets certain standards. Arbitrators try to stop two people from fighting.
Judges apply the law by overseeing the legal process in courts. Paralegals they can conduct legal
research and drft documents. Postsecondary they conduct research and publish scholary papers and

Nuclear Weapons During The Cold War Era Essay
The development and use of nuclear weapons in 1945 changed not only warfare, but how countries
approach warfare as a whole. As Andrew Heywood notes in his book, Global Politics, says that there s
a tendency for any weapons to proliferate or spread. With that knowledge it should be assumed that
many nations would want to obtain nuclear weapons after seeing what the power that they hold. A
state being in possession of a nuclear weapon can deter potential enemies and make them a power on
the global scale. The Cold War era and post Cold War era both saw an in increase in the spread of
nuclear weapons. During the Cold War, after the US first used a nuclear weapon in 1945, states that
gained nuclear capabilities were the France, the UK, China and the Soviet Union. Post Cold War era
India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea all gained nuclear weapons and shows the problem with
proliferation of them. India and Pakistan are neighboring states and rivals which can lead to the
possibility that they could be used at any moment. North Korea is a dangerous militaristic state that
constantly threatens other states. This illustrates that the spread of nuclear weapons is a global
problem because nuclear proliferation can possibly put WMDS, weapons of mass destruction, in the
hands of rival states or extremely dangerous nations. There s also the possibility of them falling into
the hands of non state actors such as terrorists groups. Nuclear proliferation and nuclear

Servant Leadership Thompson
Samantha, I think that at some time everyone has encouraged or talked with someone else about which
path they should follow, whether it should be one of a career, or a vocation. In dealing with those
around me, it would depend on their situation, and whether this is a short term goal, as it can be with a
certain career, or whether they have the means to follow their own heart as in choosing a vocation.
Using these criteria, I would probably do things a little differently, considering what I now understand
about servant leadership. In the scenario present by Thompson about Annie (Thompson, p. 39) this
individual represents someone that is a little older (she had job security with a Fortune 200 company)
and had worked there nineteen years.

Government Assistance For Needy Families
In life things do not always go as planned, we run into some rough patches. For example, one can
suddenly get fired from their job but that does not stop the bills from rolling in especially when there
is a family to take care of, in situations like this financial help can really be useful. Welfare programs
like the temporary assistance for needy families purpose is give money to a group of parents and
dependent children living together in a household. Another way that the government has been helping
is by offering food stamps, food stamps provide a monthly wage to help keep the family in need feed.
Unfortunately many will be cut off from food stamp in 2016 because the waivers have expired, as
many as a million people will no longer receive it. There are those that believe government assistance
is making a mistake with these welfare programs. After doing some research, their reason for feeling
this way is because they think that it is making people in these programs more dependent saying they
will no longer wish to work because they won t receive the profits gained from the governments help
anymore. Even though there are some that take advantage of the help they receive, helping the less
fortunate is priority number one. Most forms of government welfare should not be abolished because
it offers assistance for those in need.
Life can get tough, especially when there s children involved. Without welfare, the standard level of
crimes will increase. There are many

Sacco And Vanzetti Trial
Known anarchists during the Red Scare that followed the Russian Revolution and Italian immigrants
during an era of rampant xenophobia, Sacco and Vanzetti were convenient scapegoats (Finkel 1). This
quote is from the article written by Finkel it discusses how the case has been looked over again. Sacco
and Vanzetti were italian immigrants and known anarchists that were convicted for the crime of a
paymaster and his guard. Rampant xenophobia is defined as an irrational fear against foreigners. Since
america was in the mindset of xenophobia it was easy to blame Sacco and Vanzetti for the crime. The
trial was effected by the mindset of america, the whole process was unjust, there also is no answer to

In the book, Tom Robinson is accused of raping Mayella. Tom is an african american while Mayella is
white. Tom is convicted of doing something he didn t do, but since he was black it was easy to put the
blame on him. Atticus Finch is his defense attorney, and he does a very good job of at least making the
jury think about the possibility of Tom being innocent. In Atticus s closing statement it says, The truth
is this: some negroes lie, some negroes are immoral...But this is a truth that applies to the human race
(Lee 273). Since there was a stereotype that all blacks were bad Tom was easily found guilty. Which
the truth is really that not all bad people are black and not all black people are bad. While in jail Tom
is almost attacked by other community members. They go to his jail cell, but Atticus was waiting for
them. The book says, They gone? ... Get some sleep Tom. They won t bother you any more (Lee 206).
Atticus was waiting for them to show up, so he could defend Tom. They came to kill Tom and take the
law into their own hands. They didn t want the chance of having him get out since they just assumed
he was guilty since he was black. There were some people who reacted to Tom s trial as people

In 1955, she was elected to the executive body of the Congress party, becoming a national political

when Indira Gandhi was given her first opportunity to govern the Republic of India as Prime Minister,
following the death of Prime Minister Shastri. Even though she was governing as a reserve, Gandhi

Frustration within the Sikh community in Punjab due to the betrayal and threatening behaviour of the
Indian government gave way to a small scale armed insurgency calling for the implementation of what
the Sikhs had been peacefully agitating for since India s independence.[3] The leader of this armed
movement was a preacher from a Sikh institution called Damdami Taksal, Sant Jarnail Singh
Bhindranwale.[4] In simpler terms, the aforementioned acknowledges the fact that Sikhs in Punjab
were in dispute with the Indian government over a territory that belongs distinctly to Sikhs. What
bothered the Sikhs was the opportunity given to them shortly after independence a land separate from
Hindus and Muslims. Unfortunately, at the time of independence, Sikhs declined the opportunity to
acquire a sovereign territory and accepted to live amongst the people of India. The Sikhs rejected the
offer as they thought they would be given the opportunity to live in unity with others without being
suppressed or misrepresented.
Regrettably, this is exactly what happened. The government, created shortly after independence, had
representation of mass populations, of which mostly were Hindus. Sikhs, who only composed two
percent of India,

Racial Profiling and Male African Americans
Racial Profiling and Male African Americans
Racial profiling has been and will continue to be a problem in the United States. Many believe that
racial profiling is more prevalent in today s society; however, this issue has been a part of our society
since slavery. Moreover, African American males are mostly the targets of racial profiling, especially
in larger cities like New York City and Los Angeles. Racial profiling is becoming a huge problem
within the police departments. Police officers are conducting more traffic stops on African Americans
males than on any other racial group, for the reason that many police officers believe African
Americans males are most likely to be engaged in some sort of criminal activity. Thus, racial ... Show

The principle of law enforcement and the principle of equality among African American males make
this issue even more difficult to analyze (Persico, 2002).
According to Delores (2007), although, many things in policing have changed as far as policies goes,
many things will remain the same. Changes to the police policy were to improve the image of police
in certain communities, and impact citizens in a positive way through trust and satisfaction. However,
Delores (2007) states, officers perceive African American males as people who are capable of
wrongdoing even though a crime has yet to be committed. In addition, in noncriminal or minimal
criminal activities police view male African Americans as the most dangerous. Police officers
developed ways to recognize certain kind of people, as emblematic assailants, meaning, police
recognize the gesture, attire, language of a person, which is then perceive as a prelude to violence.
However, sometimes officers make mistakes and innocent citizens like African American males end
up paying the ultimate price. In 1998, four African American males name Keyshon Moore, Rayshawn
Brown, LeRoy Jarmaine Grant and Danny Reyes all fell victims to racial profiling. The four victims

Thomas Hobbe s Philosophical Political Piece
Thomas Hobbe s philosophical political piece The Leviathan argues that society functions most
effectively if all state and commonwealth is delegated by an all powerful sovereign, and that without it
we are in a state of chaos, otherwise titled by Hobbes as the state of nature (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p.
181). I will argue that it is not possible to acknowledge what life is like in the state of nature without
fully acknowledging that life in the state of nature leads to an all powerful sovereign that ultimately
leads to the benefit of the people due to humanity s innate fear of death and desire for civilization. To
elaborate, in humanity s most primal state of being, stripped away from all states of authority and
government, civilization is in a state of aggressive disarray that is nasty, brutish, and short (Thomas
Hobbes, 2002, p. 181). Without the Leviathan, we as humans are primal, aggressive, chaotic, and
uncivilized. As a result of this innate reaction of pandemonium in absence of an appointed authority,
in order to function effectively as members of society we run into the arms of an all powerful
sovereign, which cannot be challenged and therefore has limitless power (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p.
180, p. 181). It is important to note the Hobbes Leviathan assumes that humans have a biological
yearn to be civilized, and a biological yearn to fear death, being the two drives we have to seek
civilized refuge in the all powerful sovereign. Therefore, given the

Anti Vivisection Research Papers
In the early 18th centuries, a popular idea was launched with the hopes of finding significant scientific
animal research. The idea was known as a vivisection, which is defined as the practice of performing
operations on live animals for the purpose of experimentation or scientific research . By the next
century, the idea had taken off and the term vivisection was used specifically for people that were
completely opposed to the idea of using live animals for cruel and inhumane experiments, researches,
and projects. Now in the 21st century, many anti vivisection society s exist; including American Anti
Vivisection Society and the National Anti Vivisection Society, that were both based off the grounds of
ending harmful, cruel, and costly scientific experiments on animals. The truth about vivisections are

On Wishes By Mahmoud Darwish
Refugees are not terrorists, they are often the first victims of terrorism, was once written by an
anonymous author. Experiencing being a refugee in the middle east during times of war can be
extremely difficult. It can be a time of finding your strength, and building the courage to fight for what
you believe in. Mahmoud Darwish is the author of two poems Identity Card, and On Wishes. Darwish
s village was destroyed from the war, and later became exiled after joining the political opposition.
Darwish s perspective of war and having to mature faster than others are discussed throughout his two
poems. Throughout Darwish s poems he used vivid emotions to express the many struggles you may
run into while living life as a refugee. The first form of anger that Darwish uses to express his feeling
towards being exiled is through repetition. Darwish uses repetition in his poetry as a constant reminder
to himself and the reader that he is who he is, and that he is angry at the Israeli Army. He is stating that
no matter what they try to do that he will still be an Arab. In the poem Identity Card, he repeats the
phrase Put it on record. I am an Arab. Growing up as a refugee, the author most likely faced many
difficult situations based on his country of origin. By repeating this phrase, he is acknowledging the
fact that, although he is a refugee, he too is a human. In the poem On Wishes, the phrase Don t say to
me, is repetitive in the story. The people talking to him

Rapid Decline Of Crime In The 1990s
Components of the Rapid Decline in Crime of the 1990s The 1960s were more than just Civil Rights
and Woodstock. Contrary to what the people believed, the 1960s was an important decade in regards
to ending the peaceful period of crime decline that the United States had been enjoying since 1930
(Levitt, Dubner 115 146). The United States was about to see the highest crime rates in its history by
the end of the 1980s, heading for the 1990s. Upon entering the 1990s though, what was being
recorded were record levels of crime, but in the opposite direction as predicted (Levitt, Dubner 115

Components Of The Clutch Pack
There are three components that forms the clutch assembly. They are the clutch pack, one way clutch
and the band. These components help in the gear shifting and to have a smooth driving. CLUTCH
PACK The clutch pack contains alternating disks that fit inside a clutch drum in which half of the
discs are made up of steel. These disks have splines which fit inside the clutch drum on the respective
groves. The other half consists of a friction material bonded to their surface. These disks also have
splines but on the inner side which fit into the groves on the outer surface of the adjoining hub. At
appropriate times, the clutch pack is squeezed together by a piston which is present inside the clutch
drum that is activated by oil pressure so that the two components become locked and turn as one. ONE
WAY CLUTCH One way clutch is a device which have the effect just like that of a bicycle, where it
allows a component to turn freely in one direction but not in the other. One way clutch is also called as
sprang clutch. This is mainly used in ring gear so that it will not turn in opposite direction. One way
clutch is commonly used in the first gear. For example, place the gear shifter in drive position and give
acceleration. The vehicle begins to move normally and when the acceleration is released the vehicle
continues to move freely as if the vehicle is in neutral.

Power Of Words In The Book Theif Markus Zusak
The Power of Words Words have the capability to save a life, but they also have the power to end one.
Language, specifically words, have very powerful means. Words are considered the most effective
way to communicate. They shape our emotions, lifestyle, decisions, culture, and more. Words have the
ability to connect people, outlast, and influence opinions. Opinions and thoughts are often determined
by words. Mohammed Qahtani, 2015 World Champion of Toastmasters, provides an example of this.
In his speech, Mohammed said, Do you know that the leading cause of lung cancer? Is not actually a
cigarette, it s your DNA. You could smoke for years and nothing would ever happen to you. This

(Qahtani). Almost everyone knows that smoking has terrible health effects, yet Mohammed was able
to change people s minds about the idea of smoking, just by telling them it has no effect. This shows
how easily words can modify human s judgment. Another example of words shaping people s
thoughts is in The Book Thief Markus Zusak writes, Yes the Fuhrer decided that he would rule the
world without words. I will never fire a gun! he devised. I will not have to (Zusak 445). This quote
truly shows how influential words can be, Hitler was able to get thousands of followers with his
words. He used words in such a way, he convinced many people to do horrible things, he even started
a war, all with his words. Qahtani presents another example of words influencing people when he talks

Nature Vs Nurture Theory Of George Dilson
Lester Joseph Gillis, aka George Nelson, was born in 1908. He was killed in 1934 by FBI agents in
Illinois three months after his partner in crime, John Dillinger, was found and killed by the FBI. He
was 25 when he died. His wife was sentenced a year in jail. He was a bank robber, gangster, smuggler,
and killer. He killed more FBI agents in the line of duty than anyone else.
His childhood had everything to do with how and why Lester Gillis became George Nelson. When he
was a young teenager, he was in a gang in Chicago. He became known as Baby face Nelson by the
members of the gang. As an adult, he was five feet and four inches tall and weighed roughly 133
pounds (FBI, pg.1). This component lead to the violence and disregard he demonstrated towards other
people and the law all throughout his life.
The nature vs nurture theory describes that genetics can cause predispositions to mental illnesses, or
behaviors that lead people to make poor decisions or even become criminals. (Good Therapy, pg. 1)
The reasons behind George Nelson is mostly accountable towards his environment and how he was
raised.
From a young age, Nelson proved to have behavioral problems with others. When he was seven, he
went to state reformatory for a year after he shot another child in the jaw with a pistol he found.
(Nelson Journal, pg. 1) This was an accident, but it would not be the only person that he shot in his
life. This kind of behavior in children is genetic because a violent, mean

The City Of Ancient Greece
The city states of ancient Greece were at constant strife with each other. They utterly detested each
other and were solely independent. However, many factors unified the Greeks, loosely, at all times,
and they even brought the Greeks together at times. These factors came to be because of their
similarities of traditions and beliefs. Language, religion, and athletics were all results of these factors.
Language unified because everyone would understand what was being said by anyone, and athletics
would gather the people to one place, allowing for discussion and chances of treaties being made.
Also, Religion unified because the Greeks all believed and feared common gods and goddesses.
Language played its role in a passive way, but it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this would be the Tower of Babel. In this time period of history, the world was not
divided into nations. All the people of the world were all in one place and spoke one common
language. They tried to build a tower to reach the heavens and make a name for themselves, but God
did not approve of this. Therefore, he decided to confuse all the languages of the people, creating
many different languages. All of a sudden, the people could not understand each other because they all
spoke different languages, resulting in the people scattering all over the world. This shows us how
important it is to have a common language, and no matter how unimportant it looks, it is one of the
biggest contributing factors to unifying a nation or civilization.
Along with a common language, the ancient Greeks had a common alphabet. There were two main
forms of the alphabet, but they only had slight differences like the dialect of the Greeks. This was also
important in unifying Greece because a common alphabet also meant that communication through
letters was possible between city states, and literature, history, and knowledge could be passed down
from generation to generation. All the knowledge and ideas from famous philosophers, such as Plato,
Socrates, Pythagoras, and Aristotle, could be passed down in history, and poems, stories, religious
information, history, and plays could be passed down. This meant that their

paradoxically this world of imagination makes the world of actuality even more painful than what it is.
Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or mixture of pain/joy, intensity
of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal, and separation/connection. In
the poem Ode to a Nightingale written by John Keats, the poet seems to be praising the nightingale for
its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is revealed that he is actually using the nightingale
and its song as a means of escaping the realities of human life. This poem is about the intense feelings
the poet has about the transience about the nature of reality. Keats discovers the creativity of human
life and the morality throughout the poem. The poet is in search of the pure joy and ecstasy sung in the
nightingale s song which is completely unaware of the anguish and suffering of reality. The poet
believes that if he lives a life similar to that of the nightingale that he will be removed from all pain
and anguish. As the poem progresses the poet ponders different ways of joining the nightingale and
what he considers paradise. He comes to the conclusion that he cannot escape the realities of the
human world. Keats probably wrote this poem when he

Ethnic Stereotypes In Aladdin
The animated classical Disney movie Aladdin has became one of the most successful movies since it
was released in 1992. This movie may seem to be fairy tale based and entertaining for children since
they are the main target audience of Disney, but with a deeper look into its details this is not the reality
of it. The ideas that children are exposed to from watching this movie help create and structure their
mindsets as well as reinforcing unrealistic images of the Arabian world. In addition, Aladdin is a great
illustrative tool in reflecting the concept of Orientalism, a term coined by Edward Said, which
emphasizes on representing the Orient with certain clichés and characteristics that are misleading
about the true nature of reality (Said, 1978). With that been said, this review paper will be focusing on

Moreover, he has funny and clever ways of stealing and escaping the irrational police with his monkey
friend, Abu. Even though stealing is a bad thing to do, Aladdin gives away the stolen loaf of bread for
poor children and this portrays him as a hero. The idea of an Arab hero is rarely used in not only by
Disney but also the Western media industry as well. Then comes Jasmine, a victimized Oriental
woman who is oppressed by the males in her life, a common idea about the women in the Orient. Just
like Aladdin, she has an American accent and has a bit lighter skin than other supporting characters.
The accent and skin color make the two main characters of the movie superior and help Western

Jimmy Valentine In A Retrieved Reformation
A tree affected by the Emerald Ash Borer often looks unsuspecting and unmarred; only when you peel
back the bark from the infested ash, do you see the damaged inside. Jimmy Valentine, also known as
Ralph Spencer, was the metaphorical rotting ash tree in the story A Retrieved Reformation by O.
Henry. Jimmy was a con man, pardoned by the Governor. After Valentine got out of the slammer, he
continued his way of life before jail, manipulating and cracking bank vaults. That is, until he met
Annabel Adams. Jimmy had appeared to have changed for her under the persona of Ralph Spencer
and, for once, he made an honest living as a shoe shop owner in the small town of Elmore, Arkansas.

Henry purposely included symbolism into A Retrieved Reformation in the form of Jimmy s suitcase of
burglary tools. The suitcase symbolizes Ralph Spencer s past as Jimmy Valentine. Carrying it around
with him and refusing to throw it out, Ralph was remembering the glories of his past life, holding on
to it because he didn t want to let it go. Eventually, even if at one point he had changed, he would have
given in to his temptation of getting back into his glory days. Jimmy ...opened this [his suitcase] and
gazed fondly at the finest set of burglar s tools in the East. (Henry 2). Jimmy would not have given up
this life of crime and manipulation for anything; even if he had to change his name and pretend to love
someone he had no interest in. The pride he felt while his looked at those instruments of destruction

Explain Why Do Curfews Keep Teens Out Of Trouble
Do curfews keep teens out of trouble?
According to Cambridge dictionary, a curfew is a rule that everyone must stay at home between
particular times. There are kinds of curfews. Juvenile curfew laws are imposed by the state/ local
police; it prevents people, who are usually under 18 from being outside the homes. Emergency curfew
laws are temporary curfews that are applied by the state or local government due to a natural disaster,
revolution or a rebellion. On the other hand, there are curfews that are enforced by parents on teens for
various reasons; it s usually to keep them out of trouble and problems. However, curfews do not
usually keep teens out trouble.
There are many reasons why a curfew imposed by parents would not keep teens out of trouble. From
personal experiences, teens are expected to go to school from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM every day. Then,
they reach their homes by 2:40PM /3:00 PM. Under certain circumstances, such as after ... Show more

Curfews make teens feel like they re not trusted enough. This creates a bad relationship. It can create
an awkward uncomfortable environment at home. This can lead the teenagers to leave the house and
try as much as they can to not be in the house around their parents. This shows that the more the
parents try to keep their teenagers under control, the more the teenagers will crack and the more
troubles and problems occur. They will just go behind their back and do whatever they want.
Teenagers would feel like they are being treated unfairly or that they are being discriminated against It
could cause them to sneak out because they feel locked up, which could put them in more harm. This
shows that teens do not want to treated unfairly just because of their age. Curfews cause the teenagers
to sneak out, which can cause them to get in trouble with the police. These evidences show that a
curfew is not a helpful or a smart

Food Imagery In Buncake By Chinese
Tan also uses food imagery as a characterization device. When Kwan recounts the story of Buncake,
Kwan s description of Du Yun s skillful preparation of fried frogs provides a painful parallel to
Buncake s recollections of how her mother and father died. Buncake, who has been orphaned by the
early re education efforts that swept China just before the total communist take over, is taken in by
Kwan s aunt, Du Yun, a woman who prides herself on one special culinary creation freshly killed

she fails to notice that Buncake is cowering silently behind Kwan with her fist jammed into her mouth
like a sandbag stopping a leak in a riverbank (250). Speechless, Buncake is unable to explain to Du
Yun that the scene is horrifically distressing, that this tearing of skin from flesh reminds her of how
her mother and father had died while she watched from the tree in which her father had hidden her.

Context In Norman Rockwell s Freedom Of Want
The context of an argument is the most crucial part as it shapes the main idea and the way it is
perceived. There four types of context to be addressed when evaluating an argument. These contexts
are historical, which is all about the time period and setting of the argument, physical, which is where
the argument was found and published, political, which is about who the author is, and social, which is
about the audience it is directed to. Norman Rockwell s painting of Freedom of Want was published
on March 6th, 1943 and a perfect example of how the context will shape the argument portrayed. The
following sources provide further clarification on how the context surrounding the painting expresses
Rockwell s vision of the ideal America more clearly.:

Types Of Resource Based Policies That Education Policymakers
Dan Fette
Yuyang Gu
Laura Hitchcock
Siyun Zhong
Introduction:
There are three types of resource based policies that education policymakers typically consider: Total
Resource Policies, Input Policies, and Output Policies. The proposed policy of setting a maximum
class size of 14 in East Lansing public schools is a type of input policy. Input policies, as the name
suggests, alter a particular input into education, such as teacher quality, class size or the quality of
school facilities. It is generally believed that the input that has the largest effect on student
achievement is class size and as such this type of policy has been getting the most attention among
economists.

Class size as one of the most affection of input policy, although reducing class size cost a lot, it brings
a high achievement of students. School should reduce the class size as measured by the student teacher
ratio. Oxford Review of Economic Policy, Joshua Angrist (2004) provides a clear summary of the
current connection between research evidence and policy implementation related to class size
reduction initiatives under relatively ideal circumstances (in particular, given long enough lead time
and funding adequate to reduce class size without compromising other educational inputs), class size
reductions can increase test scores. This is an important result and a performance standard that many
and perhaps most programs, however well intentioned, do not live up to.
Potential costs and benefits
Generally, reducing class size is attractive to both parents, students and teachers. According to Eugene
M. Lewit and Linda Schuurmann Baker, one recent national poll found that 70% of adults believe that
reducing class size would result in substantial improvements in public schools and less than 10%
believed it would have no impact. Here we will discuss many of the potential costs and benefits that
reducing class size may bring to students, schools and the society. (Lewit and Baker, pg 1) Of all the
costs associated with class size

In numerous relationships between a man and a woman, there is generally a controlling figure that is
dominant above the other. It may be woman over man, man over woman, or in what the proper
definition of a marriage is an equivalent partnership and companionship. In the play A Streetcar
Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, Stanley is one example of male dominance; evidently the more
dominate figure over Stella. Throughout the play there are copious examples of the authority he
possesses of her. Williams Portrays Stella as a modest girl who lives around in Stanley s world. In his
perspective he sees Stella as his homemaker, who stays home to prepare his meals and take care of
him. She does what he wants and pleases, obtains his abuse yet loves him. Stanley extends his

Bruce Dawe was an Australian Poet born in Victoria, 1930 and is considered one of the most
influential Australian poets of all time. Two of his poems, Enter With Out So Much As Knocking

On the year of 370, the Huns arrived in what is now called Eastern Europe, they pushed the tribes
called The Vandals and The Visigoths out of Eastern Europe, therefore these two tribes needed a new

effected Rome a lot, because Rome already had a lot of enemies waiting to bring them down, the
Visigoths made a path for that. At the west, the Vandals crossed the Rhine river, another boundary of

How Mormon Fundamentalism And Provide A Brief History Of...
This essay will discuss Mormon fundamentalism and provide a brief history of the tenets and practices
of the religion. The term Mormon fundamentalist refers to a religious group, sect, or individual who
believes the teachings of the Mormon scriptures, and follows the teachings of early Mormon leaders.
In Western New York in 1830, Joseph Smith Jr. organized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day
Saints, or LDS Church. Other early leaders of the church include Brigham Young and John Taylor,
who along with Joseph Smith Jr., are accepted by Mormon fundamentalists as prophets of God. There
are an estimated 38,000 Mormon fundamentalists living in North American territories, though the
estimate is only based on the number of people who openly distinguish themselves as such. The
majority of reported Mormon fundamentalists are located in the western states of Utah, Arizona,
Nevada, and Idaho.
One of the most significant principles of this religion is plural marriage, which Mormon
fundamentalists refer to as the Divine Principle. The founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith Jr., claims
to have received direction from God to live a polygamist lifestyle. According to Smith, a man had to
have a minimum of three wives to be able to reach the highest level of heaven. Members of the LDS
Church practiced polygamy in relatively small numbers of approximately 30 percent between 1852
and 1890. The practice of plural marriage has been a controversial topic within the Western society of

The change will occur to the company whether they are internal or external driving forces. The trick is
that the company should react and anticipate properly by showing its flexibility. Let us then make it
practical with our Sainsbury s case:
External factors:
According to Taylor (2008) one of the ways to examine the company s External factors is to present a
PEST analysis. * Political and legal Factors:
Sainsbury s is facing the huge growth and evolution of the globalisation which also represents an
opportunity for the group. The organisation can also penetrate the emerging international market same
as what Tesco and Carrefour (a French distributor) did, even if this plans are not in Sainsbury s board.
The investigation of price fixing between the four biggest brand names in the United Kingdom market
can have some negative effect in the industry and for every competitor. It would be leading to lose the
brand image that Sainsbury s is having with their consumers. Moreover, the Government is about to

Laws In To Kill A Mockingbird
Martin Luther King Jr once stated, Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and
when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of
social progress. Martin Luther King Jr. was explaining rules exist to keep thing fair, however they can
also prevent society was progressing if they are not right. To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper
Lee, narrates the lives of two children, Scout and Jem, whose father, Atticus Finch, is a lawyer
defending a black man. This man, Tom Robinson is accused of raping a white women. The Finch
children live lives that revolve around Boo Radley the town ghost whose very breath is driven by
rumors. Throughout the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee continually reveals that the laws of
Maycomb County cannot always be trusted. When the Ewells, a poor ignorant family, play the system
of rules, when Tom Robinson is found guilty, and Boo Radley gets away with murder, equality and
justice are questioned. The Ewells play the system of rules because they have no other way of
surviving. Scout hates going to school and does not want to go any more like the Ewells, however

On Halloween night, while the children were walking home. Bob Ewell attempted to kill them with a
kitchen knife. Heck Tate insisted to Atticus to tell the people of Maycomb, Bob Ewell fell on his knife
instead it was Boo Radley who killed him, ...taking the man who s done you and this town a great
service an draggin him with his shy ways into the limelight to me that s a sin (370). Boo Radley saved
the children s lives by killing Bob Ewell, giving him credit for that would render him unwanted
attention, not something he would be able to survive. Heck Tate went against the law by letting Boo
Radley continue to live in the darkness, however the rules could not be followed in this

The Significance of the Black Rose in Fragrance of Roses ...
The significance of the black rose in Fragrance of Roses by Peter Carey The locals will now tell you
that when they visited the old man s glasshouse, they discovered the most beautiful rose that anyone
could ever dream of. It was twice the size of a man s fist and was almost black in colour, with just the
faintest hint of red in its velvety petals. Fragrance of Roses is about a pitiful foreign old man who had
lived in a poor village for twenty five years. His only work was breeding roses in a glasshouse behind
his house. After two Israeli agents arrested him, the villagers who disliked him openly finally
discovered his past as the former commandant of Auschwitz and his beautiful black rose, which
became their prized possession ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Black roses are not of a naturally occurring specie of roses, they are hybrid plants that have been
genetically manipulated by cross breeding programs. Now, the hybrid property of the rose was the
factor that cemented my idea that it is a representation of the old man rather than Auschwitz. The
hybrid property suggests the co existence of innocence and evil in him. At the beginning of the story,
we feel pity for the old man, who is friendless and dislikes in the community. However, by the end,
when we discover his past as the former commandant of Auschwitz, he is no longer the pitiful victim
in the reader s eyes, instead he is the antithesis to a victim, and in my view, a heartless murderer.
Essentially, the rose is a inner reflection of the old man, alike to the portrait of Dorian Grey, in the
novel, The Picture of Dorian Grey , by Oscar wilde. While Dorian remain youthful and beautiful, his
portrait is hideous like his corrupt morals. And in Frangrance of Roses , while the old man s physical
appearance seems pitiable, his corrupt morals and past is revealed in the dark, omnious colouring of
the rose. Fragrance of roses consists of many ironies. The first one is actually the

Essay Classical and Post-Classical Hollywood Cinema
Classical and Post Classical Hollywood Cinema
INTRODUCTION
During the course of this essay it is my intention to discuss the differences between Classical
Hollywood and post Classical Hollywood. Although these terms refer to theoretical movements of
which they are not definitive it is my goal to show that they are applicable in a broad way to a cinema
tradition that dominated Hollywood production between 1916 and 1960 and which also pervaded
Western Mainstream Cinema (Classical Hollywood or Classic Narrative Cinema) and to the
movement and changes that came about following this time period (Post Classical or New
Hollywood). I intend to do this by first analysing and defining aspects of Classical Hollywood and
having done that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We have a white male heterosexual protagonist. Also a structure of order/disorder/order restored is one
of the most fundamental. This structure is will proceed in a linear trajectory towards a high level of
closure or resolution. Every question which is raised during the film must be answered. Within our
linear trajectory we have a cause and effect pattern which means we will watch an action in one scene
and proceed to see its effect or re action on the following scene. In TOUCH OF EVIL (Orson Welles,
USA, 1958) we open with a honeymooning couple. Within moments there is an explosion and
disorder is created almost instantly. Our central protagonist, in this case Charlton Heston, combats this
disorder for the duration until he eventually finishes back in the arms of his wife. This example
represents what David Bordwell (Narration of the fiction film, Madison: University of Wisconsin
press, 1985) means when he says usually the classical syuzhet presents a double causal structure 2.
Two plot lines, one which involves a heterosexual romance and another which causes an external
struggle (usually for the man and if for the woman inevitably solved by the man).
Classical Gender Representation:
In Classical Hollywood the representation of women is certainly quite clear cut, our main two
definable types being that of the virgin and that of the whore. Our virgin represents the patriarchal
ideals of family within which at the time a woman should represent

Analysis Of The Story Cathedral
Cathedral The story Cathedral demonstrates that lack of sight does not necessarily prevent one from
perceiving things as they are, or live their life to the fullest. In the story, a middle age blind man, who
is a friend to the narrator s wife, and used to be her boss at one point, visits the narrator and his wife.
The narrator has never interacted with blind people before, and all he knew about blind people was
what he had seen on television. Blind people are stereotypically portrayed on television as slow
moving, dull people, who never laugh. Based on this perception, the narrator was reluctant to meet the
blind man and doubted whether they were going to connect. This is evident when the narrator states, I
wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered me (Carver 1).
The doubt the narrator had towards blind people his further evident when the blind man arrives at his
house. On seeing the blind man for the first time in the parking lot, the narrator noticed that the blind
man had a beard, but he thought that it was unusual. This is evident when the narrator remarks, This
blind man, feature this, he was wearing a full beard! A beard on a blind man! Too much, I say (Carver
4). The skeptical view, the narrator had towards blind people is further brought out when the narrator
was being told about the death of the blind man s wife. The narrator could not imagine a man
marrying a woman, living together, and having sex with

The Effectiveness Of Virtual Media
The Effectiveness of Virtual Media In the world of learning nowadays, there are many ways to acquire
knowledge other than schools and teachers. Learning an instrument can take place beyond the
traditional classroom setting. As technology improves over the years, learning can take place not only
in a teacher to students setting but also from a vast amount of resources on the internet and digital
media. During the course of ten weeks, I used various online resources to learn how to play the piano
by learning how to play three different songs. So far, I have successfully learned all three songs by
watching YouTube videos and exploring piano instruction websites. During the learning process I
have encountered different challenges; some I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By practicing easy piano songs such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars and O Christmas Tree , I became
much familiarized with the position of each key and comfortable with pressing the keys without lifting
my whole hand. Needless to say, I would not be able to figure out how the piano works if I did not
receive any kind of instruction. The first thing I did was to search for YouTube videos because it is an
excellent choice to learn almost anything, not just instruments. YouTube not only teaches the viewers
by demonstrating on how to complete a particular task, but also uses videos to help the viewers
visualize what is going on. There was a variety of piano videos that were made specifically for
beginners like me. There was also variation between each videos depending on who the instructor was
and in which angle it was shot. Generally, I chose the videos that contained a well experienced
instructor instead of an amateur, and a good camera angle that clearly showed all the piano keys. After
this learning experience, I am confident that I am no longer a beginner. Although instructions from the
videos were easy to follow, there were still some challenges that I encountered during my practices
that could not be solved by the internet resources entirely. Having questions meant that I would have
to comment on the video and wait for an answer or look for a new video in order to find solution.

Essay about Edward Snowden
Edward Snowden
Hiren Shyani
BUS/275
July 01, 2013
Velonta Adams
Abstract Edward Snowden, commonly known as the whistle blower is the most discussed topic in the
country from last month. According to the Merriam s online dictionary, whistle blower, (n.d.) means,
one who reveals something covert or who informs against another. (m w.com, n.d.).
Analyze the reliability, credibility, and validity of the data used by the author. Data used in the article
retrieved from the Washington Times, Snowden has been called more of a traitor instead of the whistle
blower. The author has written different articles before, and is reliable. Information used in the article
does seem a little biased towards the author s personal point of view ... Show more content on

When you join the military, work for the government, or government contractors, you give up some of
your rights and freedoms. If you are entrusted with security clearances and access to classified
materials, you give up even more rights and freedoms. These rights and freedoms are not taken from
you. You voluntarily give them up. If you violate the trust put into you, you deserve any and all
punishment that comes your way, no matter how noble your ego makes you think the cause is. (Bella,
2013). Author here states Snowden could have walked away from his job or the government if he did
not like what he did for them. Company paid him well above $200K a year and put in a great amount
of trust in him. Author sees it as if someone puts a trust or discloses classified information then the
person voluntarily gives up his or her right of freedom of speech. Being smart in a field and using the
knowledge to help country get stronger is a good thing, but being childish and disclose classified
information to public is a big deal for the author. On Thursday, President Obama declared before the
world that he would not permit any diplomatic wheeling and dealing over my case. (Roberts, 2013)
Last week Edward Snowden mentioned that if he is tried and brought back to the US then he would
not let any diplomatic rule over his case.

Road Not Taken
A reader must consider the words of Robert Frost in The Road Not Taken as carefully as the individual
must consider every choice that finds them as the paths of life intersect (Kirszner Mandell, 2012,
p.624). An individual can get analysis paralysis when they think about each and every choice too
much. People can analyze something to death (Lewis, 2014, p. 517).The individual applies Newton s
third law of motion, to every action there is always opposed and equal reaction and this consideration
can render them into a state of confusion and indecisiveness as they consider the next step (Sharma,
2016, p. 23). Everything we do is a choice and every action has a reaction, therefore as individuals
with free will, we are aware that we are the navigator on our individual path, and not making a choice
has consequences just as surely as making an active choice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At the end of a day, a week, or a life, the end result is very different based on each individual road,
accordingly, every choice is pivotal and final. The road not taken may haunt the individual to ponder
and consider how their life would be different, save that one small choice (Kirszner Mandell, 2012,
p.624). Not only will the individual never gets back to the original path, they will have lost all of the
opportunities the alternate path would open up for them. The individual considers a choice, takes
responsibility for a decision and therefore, chance does not determine the outcome, but instead, the
individual determines the

Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant
Fantabulous Restaurants,
It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family and
me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large flame
exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food on the
grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to consume. The
next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the sky and somehow
catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable technique. I loved this
restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber
Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good
restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think
about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes
any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant
that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly
Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best
bar food which includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive
qualities of a restaurant is the taste of their food.

  • 3. The Causes Of The Border Patrol This scenario is playing out on America s borders every day. The organization that manages the Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection, has become the largest federal law enforcement agency in the nation, and with that distinction comes some scrutiny. Two articles were written, the first by The New York Times, the other by the Associated Press, that highlighted some disturbing trends within the agency. The number of Border Patrol agents more than doubled between 2004 and 2011, when they grew to over 20,000 employees, and that number continued to rise, reaching over 21,000 today. Since...September 11, 2001, the focus of the Border Patrol has changed to detection, apprehension and/or deterrence of terrorists or terrorist weapons, but as the agency uses that motto to grow its, it has become increasingly clear that they are more concerned with keeping certain people out than keeping the border safe. Increase in suicides among Border Patrol agents causes alarm, by the Associated Press Paul J. Weber addresses the disturbing trend of suicides among Border Patrol agents. Between February 2008 and August 2010, 15 Border Patrol agents had taken their own lives. There had not been a single suicide in the agency for four years prior to that point. To further illustrate the significance of that trend: the national rate of suicide at the time was 12 for every 100,000 people. The Border Patrol s rate was at 30 per 100,000. So why the sudden spike? Some officials and family members ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Dreamland Journey There was approximately 586 miles between me and the place I was meant to be. Reno the land where either your dreams come true or they come to die. I had tried so hard not to go, the journey was hard but worth it. My Mother and Father were the ones that helped me get to where I am. My father packed all my of my belongings for the journey to the dreamland. The plan was to leave in the morning, little did we know there was so much we could not pack for, this was also a mental trip. In the morning we packed all of my belongings into our automatic carriage, the journey is set to take off. We leave for our trip and we will leave as a pair but only one of us will return to the homeland. My father says that it will be a couple of hours before we reach a place for some food so it is crucial for us to have full stomachs as we leave but we do not. So we have to stop as soon as we can for some food. Off to the side of the road we see a maiden selling some fruit that could quench not only our empty stomach but it will give us some important nutrients that actually make our taste buds blossom unlike the bland water that we packed for our long journey. We stop and the fair maiden says that her fruit is the best of the land, My father and I are very skeptical of this, because the fruit looked dry, weathered and not very appetizing. We needed some sort of nourishment to survive the trip to the promise land, we purchased the weathered fruit and to our surprise this was some of the best ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Realism In Breaking Bad Breaking Bad In order to understand the world politics in each way, we have to learn various international relations theory because it provides a conceptual framework, which is used to analyse international relations. Realism, liberalism, constructivism are one of the most well known theory. Breaking Bad is an American television series. It narrates a life of Walter White, a high school chemistry with lung cancer. He and his former student, Jesse Pinkman, try to produce and sell crystal meth to support his family. International relations theory can be used to analyse why each character act in a particular way by comparing each individual as a state. This essay will analyse this series based on realism. States should heighten their security, for instance, by increasing military strength or making alliances with others. In this series, after the death of Gonzo, Jesse is afraid that Tuco will kill him next. As a consequence, he buys a gun to protect himself from this brutal man. In spite of the fact that he can make a lot of money from him by producing and selling meth, his security comes first. In that moment, he does not care about how much money that he can earn in the future because if he dies, money will not be important anymore. Thus, he tries to convince Walter to help him to kill Tuco. This is when he tries to make an alliance with his partner. Walter does concur with him because there is a possibility that Tuco will go after him and his family also. Consequently, they try to make a plan to kill this erratic violent drug dealer. Both do not consider wealth more important than their and their beloved lives, which is same as Tuco. He value his life firstly. It can be seen that this character always carry a gun. For example, in season 2, episode 1, Tuco captures Walter and Jesse in the house where is far away from people. Although in this house only has four people, Walter, Jesse, his disabled uncle and him, he still carries 2 guns, a handgun and a rifle, with him. • 6. Truck Driving Vs Lawyers Research Paper There are a lot of differences between truck driving and lawyers. I chose these careers because I like driving trucks, and I am interested in diesel trucks. I also like to argue so being a lawyer makes sense. Heavy and tractor trailer truck drivers transport goods from one location to another. Most tractor trailer drivers are long haul drivers and operate trucks with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) capacity that is, the combined weight of the vehicle, passengers, and cargo exceeding 26,000 pounds. • 7. Nuclear Weapons During The Cold War Era Essay The development and use of nuclear weapons in 1945 changed not only warfare, but how countries approach warfare as a whole. As Andrew Heywood notes in his book, Global Politics, says that there s a tendency for any weapons to proliferate or spread. With that knowledge it should be assumed that many nations would want to obtain nuclear weapons after seeing what the power that they hold. A state being in possession of a nuclear weapon can deter potential enemies and make them a power on the global scale. The Cold War era and post Cold War era both saw an in increase in the spread of nuclear weapons. During the Cold War, after the US first used a nuclear weapon in 1945, states that gained nuclear capabilities were the France, the UK, China and the Soviet Union. Post Cold War era India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea all gained nuclear weapons and shows the problem with proliferation of them. India and Pakistan are neighboring states and rivals which can lead to the possibility that they could be used at any moment. North Korea is a dangerous militaristic state that constantly threatens other states. This illustrates that the spread of nuclear weapons is a global problem because nuclear proliferation can possibly put WMDS, weapons of mass destruction, in the hands of rival states or extremely dangerous nations. There s also the possibility of them falling into the hands of non state actors such as terrorists groups. Nuclear proliferation and nuclear disarmament/arms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Servant Leadership Thompson Samantha, I think that at some time everyone has encouraged or talked with someone else about which path they should follow, whether it should be one of a career, or a vocation. In dealing with those around me, it would depend on their situation, and whether this is a short term goal, as it can be with a certain career, or whether they have the means to follow their own heart as in choosing a vocation. Using these criteria, I would probably do things a little differently, considering what I now understand about servant leadership. • 9. Government Assistance For Needy Families In life things do not always go as planned, we run into some rough patches. For example, one can suddenly get fired from their job but that does not stop the bills from rolling in especially when there is a family to take care of, in situations like this financial help can really be useful. Welfare programs like the temporary assistance for needy families purpose is give money to a group of parents and dependent children living together in a household. Another way that the government has been helping is by offering food stamps, food stamps provide a monthly wage to help keep the family in need feed. Unfortunately many will be cut off from food stamp in 2016 because the waivers have expired, as many as a million people will no longer receive it. There are those that believe government assistance is making a mistake with these welfare programs. After doing some research, their reason for feeling this way is because they think that it is making people in these programs more dependent saying they will no longer wish to work because they won t receive the profits gained from the governments help anymore. Even though there are some that take advantage of the help they receive, helping the less fortunate is priority number one. Most forms of government welfare should not be abolished because it offers assistance for those in need. Life can get tough, especially when there s children involved. Without welfare, the standard level of crimes will increase. There are many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gandhi s leadership was not the only aspect in jeopardy; her life was at risk as well. Frustration within the Sikh community in Punjab due to the betrayal and threatening behaviour of the Indian government gave way to a small scale armed insurgency calling for the implementation of what the Sikhs had been peacefully agitating for since India s independence.[3] The leader of this armed movement was a preacher from a Sikh institution called Damdami Taksal, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.[4] In simpler terms, the aforementioned acknowledges the fact that Sikhs in Punjab were in dispute with the Indian government over a territory that belongs distinctly to Sikhs. What bothered the Sikhs was the opportunity given to them shortly after independence a land separate from Hindus and Muslims. Unfortunately, at the time of independence, Sikhs declined the opportunity to acquire a sovereign territory and accepted to live amongst the people of India. The Sikhs rejected the offer as they thought they would be given the opportunity to live in unity with others without being suppressed or misrepresented. Regrettably, this is exactly what happened. Changes to the police policy were to improve the image of police in certain communities, and impact citizens in a positive way through trust and satisfaction. However, Delores (2007) states, officers perceive African American males as people who are capable of wrongdoing even though a crime has yet to be committed. In addition, in noncriminal or minimal criminal activities police view male African Americans as the most dangerous. Police officers developed ways to recognize certain kind of people, as emblematic assailants, meaning, police recognize the gesture, attire, language of a person, which is then perceive as a prelude to violence. However, sometimes officers make mistakes and innocent citizens like African American males end up paying the ultimate price. • 14. Thomas Hobbe s Philosophical Political Piece Thomas Hobbe s philosophical political piece The Leviathan argues that society functions most effectively if all state and commonwealth is delegated by an all powerful sovereign, and that without it we are in a state of chaos, otherwise titled by Hobbes as the state of nature (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p. 181). I will argue that it is not possible to acknowledge what life is like in the state of nature without fully acknowledging that life in the state of nature leads to an all powerful sovereign that ultimately leads to the benefit of the people due to humanity s innate fear of death and desire for civilization. To elaborate, in humanity s most primal state of being, stripped away from all states of authority and government, civilization is in a state of aggressive disarray that is nasty, brutish, and short (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p. 181). Without the Leviathan, we as humans are primal, aggressive, chaotic, and uncivilized. As a result of this innate reaction of pandemonium in absence of an appointed authority, in order to function effectively as members of society we run into the arms of an all powerful sovereign, which cannot be challenged and therefore has limitless power (Thomas Hobbes, 2002, p. 180, p. 181). It is important to note the Hobbes Leviathan assumes that humans have a biological yearn to be civilized, and a biological yearn to fear death, being the two drives we have to seek civilized refuge in the all powerful sovereign. • 16. On Wishes By Mahmoud Darwish Refugees are not terrorists, they are often the first victims of terrorism, was once written by an anonymous author. Experiencing being a refugee in the middle east during times of war can be extremely difficult. It can be a time of finding your strength, and building the courage to fight for what you believe in. Mahmoud Darwish is the author of two poems Identity Card, and On Wishes. Darwish s village was destroyed from the war, and later became exiled after joining the political opposition. Darwish s perspective of war and having to mature faster than others are discussed throughout his two poems. Throughout Darwish s poems he used vivid emotions to express the many struggles you may run into while living life as a refugee. The first form of anger that Darwish uses to express his feeling towards being exiled is through repetition. Darwish uses repetition in his poetry as a constant reminder to himself and the reader that he is who he is, and that he is angry at the Israeli Army. He is stating that no matter what they try to do that he will still be an Arab. In the poem Identity Card, he repeats the phrase Put it on record. I am an Arab. Growing up as a refugee, the author most likely faced many difficult situations based on his country of origin. By repeating this phrase, he is acknowledging the fact that, although he is a refugee, he too is a human. In the poem On Wishes, the phrase Don t say to me, is repetitive in the story. These components help in the gear shifting and to have a smooth driving. These disks have splines which fit inside the clutch drum on the respective groves. The other half consists of a friction material bonded to their surface. These disks also have splines but on the inner side which fit into the groves on the outer surface of the adjoining hub. At appropriate times, the clutch pack is squeezed together by a piston which is present inside the clutch drum that is activated by oil pressure so that the two components become locked and turn as one. ONE WAY CLUTCH One way clutch is a device which have the effect just like that of a bicycle, where it allows a component to turn freely in one direction but not in the other. • 19. Power Of Words In The Book Theif Markus Zusak The Power of Words Words have the capability to save a life, but they also have the power to end one. Language, specifically words, have very powerful means. Words are considered the most effective way to communicate. They shape our emotions, lifestyle, decisions, culture, and more. Words have the ability to connect people, outlast, and influence opinions. Opinions and thoughts are often determined by words. Mohammed Qahtani, 2015 World Champion of Toastmasters, provides an example of this. In his speech, Mohammed said, Do you know that the leading cause of lung cancer? This shows how easily words can modify human s judgment. He was killed in 1934 by FBI agents in Illinois three months after his partner in crime, John Dillinger, was found and killed by the FBI. He was 25 when he died. His wife was sentenced a year in jail. He was a bank robber, gangster, smuggler, and killer. He killed more FBI agents in the line of duty than anyone else. His childhood had everything to do with how and why Lester Gillis became George Nelson. When he was a young teenager, he was in a gang in Chicago. He became known as Baby face Nelson by the members of the gang. As an adult, he was five feet and four inches tall and weighed roughly 133 pounds (FBI, pg.1). This component lead to the violence and disregard he demonstrated towards other people and the law all throughout his life. The nature vs nurture theory describes that genetics can cause predispositions to mental illnesses, or behaviors that lead people to make poor decisions or even become criminals. (Good Therapy, pg. 1) The reasons behind George Nelson is mostly accountable towards his environment and how he was raised. From a young age, Nelson proved to have behavioral problems with others. When he was seven, he went to state reformatory for a year after he shot another child in the jaw with a pistol he found. (Nelson Journal, pg. 1) This was an accident, but it would not be the only person that he shot in his life. This kind of behavior in children is genetic because a violent, mean ... However, many factors unified the Greeks, loosely, at all times, and they even brought the Greeks together at times. These factors came to be because of their similarities of traditions and beliefs. Language, religion, and athletics were all results of these factors. Language unified because everyone would understand what was being said by anyone, and athletics would gather the people to one place, allowing for discussion and chances of treaties being made. An example of this would be the Tower of Babel. In this time period of history, the world was not divided into nations. All the people of the world were all in one place and spoke one common language. They tried to build a tower to reach the heavens and make a name for themselves, but God did not approve of this. Therefore, he decided to confuse all the languages of the people, creating many different languages. All of a sudden, the people could not understand each other because they all spoke different languages, resulting in the people scattering all over the world. This shows us how important it is to have a common language, and no matter how unimportant it looks, it is one of the biggest contributing factors to unifying a nation or civilization. Along with a common language, the ancient Greeks had a common alphabet. There were two main forms of the alphabet, but they only had slight differences like the dialect of the Greeks. This was also important in unifying Greece because a common alphabet also meant that communication through letters was possible between city states, and literature, history, and knowledge could be passed down from generation to generation. All the knowledge and ideas from famous philosophers, such as Plato, Socrates, Pythagoras, and Aristotle, could be passed down in history, and poems, stories, religious information, history, and plays could be passed down. • 22. Analysis Of The Poem Ode Of A Nightingale By John Keats Alaysia Murphy ENG 134 04 Prof. Palmioli 11/3/15 Explication for Ode to a Nightingale Literature often reflects real life. The world of imagination is a euphoric release from the world of actuality but paradoxically this world of imagination makes the world of actuality even more painful than what it is. Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or mixture of pain/joy, intensity of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal, and separation/connection. In the poem Ode to a Nightingale written by John Keats, the poet seems to be praising the nightingale for its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is revealed that he is actually using the nightingale and its song as a means of escaping the realities of human life. This poem is about the intense feelings the poet has about the transience about the nature of reality. Keats discovers the creativity of human life and the morality throughout the poem. The poet is in search of the pure joy and ecstasy sung in the nightingale s song which is completely unaware of the anguish and suffering of reality. The poet believes that if he lives a life similar to that of the nightingale that he will be removed from all pain and anguish. As the poem progresses the poet ponders different ways of joining the nightingale and what he considers paradise. He comes to the conclusion that he cannot escape the realities of the human world. Keats probably wrote this poem when he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Let us then make it practical with our Sainsbury s case: External factors: According to Taylor (2008) one of the ways to examine the company s External factors is to present a PEST analysis. * Political and legal Factors: Sainsbury s is facing the huge growth and evolution of the globalisation which also represents an opportunity for the group. The organisation can also penetrate the emerging international market same as what Tesco and Carrefour (a French distributor) did, even if this plans are not in Sainsbury s board. The investigation of price fixing between the four biggest brand names in the United Kingdom market can have some negative effect in the industry and for every competitor. It would be leading to lose the brand image that Sainsbury s is having with their consumers. Moreover, the Government is about to decrease the tax rate from 30 to 28 % which will save a weighty amount of money. Sainsbury s has to follow the packaging and labelling rules according to the food and drinks local laws. * Economic Factors:

The significance of the black rose in Fragrance of Roses by Peter Carey The locals will now tell you that when they visited the old man s glasshouse, they discovered the most beautiful rose that anyone could ever dream of. It was twice the size of a man s fist and was almost black in colour, with just the faintest hint of red in its velvety petals. Fragrance of Roses is about a pitiful foreign old man who had lived in a poor village for twenty five years. His only work was breeding roses in a glasshouse behind his house. After two Israeli agents arrested him, the villagers who disliked him openly finally discovered his past as the former commandant of Auschwitz and his beautiful black rose, which became their prized possession ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Black roses are not of a naturally occurring specie of roses, they are hybrid plants that have been genetically manipulated by cross breeding programs. Now, the hybrid property of the rose was the factor that cemented my idea that it is a representation of the old man rather than Auschwitz. The hybrid property suggests the co existence of innocence and evil in him. At the beginning of the story, we feel pity for the old man, who is friendless and dislikes in the community. However, by the end, when we discover his past as the former commandant of Auschwitz, he is no longer the pitiful victim in the reader s eyes, instead he is the antithesis to a victim, and in my view, a heartless murderer. Essentially, the rose is a inner reflection of the old man, alike to the portrait of Dorian Grey, in the novel, The Picture of Dorian Grey , by Oscar wilde. While Dorian remain youthful and beautiful, his portrait is hideous like his corrupt morals. And in Frangrance of Roses , while the old man s physical appearance seems pitiable, his corrupt morals and past is revealed in the dark, omnious colouring of the rose. Essay Classical and Post-Classical Hollywood Cinema Classical and Post Classical Hollywood Cinema INTRODUCTION During the course of this essay it is my intention to discuss the differences between Classical Hollywood and post Classical Hollywood. Although these terms refer to theoretical movements of which they are not definitive it is my goal to show that they are applicable in a broad way to a cinema tradition that dominated Hollywood production between 1916 and 1960 and which also pervaded Western Mainstream Cinema (Classical Hollywood or Classic Narrative Cinema) and to the movement and changes that came about following this time period (Post Classical or New Hollywood). Also a structure of order/disorder/order restored is one of the most fundamental. This structure is will proceed in a linear trajectory towards a high level of closure or resolution. Every question which is raised during the film must be answered. Within our linear trajectory we have a cause and effect pattern which means we will watch an action in one scene and proceed to see its effect or re action on the following scene. In TOUCH OF EVIL (Orson Welles, USA, 1958) we open with a honeymooning couple. Within moments there is an explosion and disorder is created almost instantly. Our central protagonist, in this case Charlton Heston, combats this disorder for the duration until he eventually finishes back in the arms of his wife. This example represents what David Bordwell (Narration of the fiction film, Madison: University of Wisconsin press, 1985) means when he says usually the classical syuzhet presents a double causal structure 2. Two plot lines, one which involves a heterosexual romance and another which causes an external struggle (usually for the man and if for the woman inevitably solved by the man). Classical Gender Representation: In Classical Hollywood the representation of women is certainly quite clear cut, our main two definable types being that of the virgin and that of the whore. • 47. Analysis Of The Story Cathedral Cathedral The story Cathedral demonstrates that lack of sight does not necessarily prevent one from perceiving things as they are, or live their life to the fullest. In the story, a middle age blind man, who is a friend to the narrator s wife, and used to be her boss at one point, visits the narrator and his wife. The narrator has never interacted with blind people before, and all he knew about blind people was what he had seen on television. Blind people are stereotypically portrayed on television as slow moving, dull people, who never laugh. Based on this perception, the narrator was reluctant to meet the blind man and doubted whether they were going to connect. This is evident when the narrator states, I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind bothered me (Carver 1). The doubt the narrator had towards blind people his further evident when the blind man arrives at his house. On seeing the blind man for the first time in the parking lot, the narrator noticed that the blind man had a beard, but he thought that it was unusual. This is evident when the narrator remarks, This blind man, feature this, he was wearing a full beard! A beard on a blind man! Too much, I say (Carver 4). The skeptical view, the narrator had towards blind people is further brought out when the narrator was being told about the death of the blind man s wife. The first thing I did was to search for YouTube videos because it is an excellent choice to learn almost anything, not just instruments. There was a variety of piano videos that were made specifically for beginners like me. There was also variation between each videos depending on who the instructor was and in which angle it was shot. Generally, I chose the videos that contained a well experienced instructor instead of an amateur, and a good camera angle that clearly showed all the piano keys. You voluntarily give them up. If you violate the trust put into you, you deserve any and all punishment that comes your way, no matter how noble your ego makes you think the cause is. (Bella, 2013). • 50. Road Not Taken A reader must consider the words of Robert Frost in The Road Not Taken as carefully as the individual must consider every choice that finds them as the paths of life intersect (Kirszner Mandell, 2012, p.624). An individual can get analysis paralysis when they think about each and every choice too much. People can analyze something to death (Lewis, 2014, p. 517).The individual applies Newton s third law of motion, to every action there is always opposed and equal reaction and this consideration can render them into a state of confusion and indecisiveness as they consider the next step (Sharma, 2016, p. 23). Everything we do is a choice and every action has a reaction, therefore as individuals with free will, we are aware that we are the navigator on our individual path, and not making a choice has consequences just as surely as making an active choice. ... • 51. Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant Fantabulous Restaurants, It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family and me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large flame exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food on the grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to consume. The next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the sky and somehow catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable technique. I loved this restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant consists of. The restaurants Weber Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the marginalist factor in what makes a good restaurant. The mouth watering options of each restaurant make me feel famished every time I think about them. They have the best steak, burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes any other meal, from any other restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant that has worse food? There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly Buffalo Wild Wings. Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best bar food which includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive qualities of a restaurant is the taste of their food. ...
