Head Hair In Ancient Egypt
In Ancient Egypt, head hair was commonly associated with one s age and wealth where a shaven head
with a small curl at the side of the head would indicate a youth, while wigs were worn by older people
to conceal their greying or lack of hair. As for China, hairstyles were not an easily changeable outlet
for personal expression, but rather a symbol of everything from status to ethnicity to political ideals
until the recent years after 1970s. In the ancient times, Confucius s philosophy of Filial Piety was
deeply rooted in the mindsets of the people, and stated that one s body, hair and skin was granted by
parents. Thus, it was considered extremely disrespectful to cut head hair. And in the Tang Dynasty,
hairdos with different shapes evolved into a symbol of class status. Hairstyles were also used as an
indicator of a woman s marriage status; an unmarried woman wore her hair down or tied in a single
braid, while a married woman usually had her hair up in coils or a knot. In Africa, hairstyles were seen
as a representation of one s tribe. Different styles hold different meanings to each tribe. The Masai
warriors wore headdresses, spent hours braiding each other s hair and dyed their hair red. Women
would shave their heads when they are married to symbolise a new beginning. Mangbetu women
braided their hairs into a cone shaped basket, held in place by bones shaped like needles. ... Show

Essay On Holy Trinity Cathedral
Holy Trinity Cathedral
On March the 6th ,2016, I visited the Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral church in San Francisco. The
site is located in a convenient neighborhood one block south Union St at 1530 Green St. This
Orthodox Church is the oldest Orthodox parish in town, and it is one of the few parishes in northern
California with such a unique shape. The church was designed to show the Russian unique architect,
and its outstanding shape connected to Moscow patriarch. Even though it is a small church, but it
looks stunning where it s placed right in the corner with a two sides street view.
What religious tradition the site is a part of The contemporary Orthodox Church historically connects

Orthodoxy doctrinal places great authority in the Bible, the Creeds, and the seven ecumenical
councils. The Russian Orthodox reflects not only its Orthodox heritage, but also the culture of its
native land. In fact, it also reflects the most central belief in all Christianity is the doctrine of
resurrection. People who follow the Orthodox Church believe that Jesus Christ was crucified and died,
then afterward descended into Hell and returned three days later, fully human and divine. He as well
brought with him the promise of salvation and spiritual immortality, which he gave to every human

Essay on George Washington s Pesidency
George Washington s Presidency
George Washington is regarded as a natural leader and the father of our country. He was the first
president under the Constitution, not the first president of the United States. From the very beginning,
he came into a job full of problems and a mile long to do list. He had to set up the Judiciary Branch,
deal with uprisings and conflicts between the natives and the western settlers, and try to keep together
a nation that was falling apart. He created a group of advisors (the cabinet) to help him with certain
issues. He had a few things on his mind at the time such as: stay out of a war, build up revenue to pay
off Revolutionary War debt, and try to make peace with England.

The Judiciary Act of 1789 established a six member supreme court. It was comprised of one Chief
Justice and five Associate Justices. It had jurisdiction over all civil actions between states, or between
a state and the United States. Also in the act it created thirteen Judicial Districts. Within these Judicial
Districts were circuit courts and district courts.
After finishing the Judicial Branch, Washington finally got time to create the Executive Branch. The
first offices created were the Secretary of the State, (headed by Thomas Jefferson) the Secretary of the
Treasury, (headed by Alexander Hamilton) the Secretary of War, (headed by Henry Knox) the
Postmaster General, (headed by Samuel Osgood) and the Attorney General (headed by Edmund
Randolph). These offices became the backbone for the Presidential Cabinet. On July 27, 1789,
Washington signed a bill into law reauthorizing an Executive Department of Foreign Affairs headed
by a Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
Washington was the major player to the creation of the United States Government under the
constitution. He did more in his first months in office than any other president so far. He was the best
man for the job and the only man. There is no way that anyone can do as much for the government as
Washington did so. He did a great job of setting up other courts around the

Gustave Flaubert Writing Style
The 1800 s was a century of change. Medicine was advancing, the effects of the Enlightenment were
still underway, and a new age of exploration occurred as those of Europe began to extend their hands
across the world towards America. During these times the common folk changed and adapted many of
their ideals, and suffered many hardships and heartaches. In this period, a man of Normandy named
Gustave Flaubert caught many of these hardships within his writings. With words, thoughts, and
crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went through day by day. As an
article put out by TV Tropes explains, Flaubert was famous for his precise, straightforward writing
style, filled with the ideal of realism:

Felicite, as explained at the very beginning of the story, was known for her cleanliness, making people
all around them envy Madame Aubaine for her choice of servant. Though Madame Aubaine s story is
interesting in itself, the story of Felicite is not only one of importance to the story but also to our
understanding of these times in general. Her father and mother were both killed when she was very
young, and when her siblings split up without her she was left alone to find work. Most places where
she found it were hostile to a young woman of eighteen, leaving her vulnerable to physical and verbal
abuse. She even experienced this through a brief relationship, and though she did end up loving him
he eventually revealed he was only looking for someone to marry to avoid the draft. Walking away in
defeat, she found Madame Aubaine and signed on to work for her fifty years. It s here that she begins
the biggest of her struggles. Under Madame Aubaine she suffered four hardships that were common in
Felicite s days. Her first hardship was the loss of her nephew on his journey to America. As explained
in the story, when Felicite s nephew left for the new world she constantly paced back and forth hoping
a letter from him would arrive soon. The constant anxiety of never knowing whether or not he was
alright was something that those who knew New World travelers experienced often. Even more people
lost loved ones to this voyage as Felicite did. Without the instant communication and

Analysis Of The Scene Of Titanic
James Cameron directed and co produced Titanic in 1997. It is one of the epic tragical romantic films
of all time. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jack Dawson (hero) and Kate Winslet plays Rose DeWitt
Bukater (heroine). Titanic tells the evergreen love story of Rose and Jack. Rose is a first class
passenger, but her family is going through financial crises which her mother Ruth is trying to resolve
and retain their weakening high class status through her marriage with Cal Hockley, her fiancé.
Agitated over this marriage she attempts suicide by jumping off the stern of the ship. Jack, a poor
painter, discourages her from suicide and saves her life. This is a pivotal scene where an epic romance
begins. The acting, setting, and lighting play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rose s distraught for her marriage with fiancé is very evident in her facial expression as she runs to
the stern and looks off to the ocean. When Jack enters the scene, it is apparent that he is nervous; but,
as he approaches Rose, his face reflects calm but courage. While attempting to discourage her from
suicide, Jack realizes she is actually very disturbed, but afraid to jump.In this case, he shares with her
some anecdotes on his experience with ice fishing to ease her stress off. Examining another sub scene
where she trips and falls, we can see his courageous face turning into a face of her new hope for life.
Her face is brightened, her eyes are mesmerized, and her mind is strengthened by the end of this shot
leaving audience enchanted. The setting is yet another critical component playing a more active role in
this scene. Choosing the stern to be the best place for her to commit suicide is where the vitality of this
set comes to play. Director James Cameron chose this particular location and the hand rails for her to
accidentally trip was to create a dramatic helpless effect which he knew will trigger the minds of his
audience. This significant setting is at the very end of the ship where no one usually wanders at night.
It is quite and peaceful. In such a setting where the only two people to stand the stern are the two main

Literacy, Numeracy and ICT help and impacts on my teaching assistant role at my school.
All teachers and their assistants are required to have the literacy, numeracy and ICT knowledge,
understanding and personal skills. This will equip us to develop inclusive approaches to addressing the
literacy, numeracy and ICT needs of our pupils.

I regards to Numeracy sessions, again they often run similarly to Literacy lessons, where I get to
prepare appropriate maths resources and organize the group work or work with certain individuals. I
often need to repeat teacher s instructions to re enforce what pupils should be able to achieve and
maybe introduce follow on tasks to extend learning of the more able pupils. I feel, I still have a lot to
learn in Numeracy department, partly due to the fact that I was not educated in the UK and the
strategies for some mathematical activities are solved very differently here that I would had been used
to. Luckily in Year 1 I can catch up fairly quickly and I am learning along side our children.
I can pick right resources for their activities like number lines, numbers squares, counter and on.

Rock And Roll In The 1950s
1950 s
Introduction
The 1950s was largely dominated by Rock and Roll as the Rock and Roll era had emerged. This Genre
of music developed from other styles of music such as country, Jazz, and gospel.
One Reason for the sudden emergence of Rock and Roll was because of the likes of Elvis Presley,
Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and other Rock and Roll icons that have transformed music, as we know it.
Pioneer of Rock and Roll
During the early 50s, many artists were coming out with there own Rock and Roll songs making it
difficult for us to identify who was the pioneer of Rock and Roll. Today most people think of Elvis
Presley when they hear Rock and Roll however the very first Rock and Roll hit was called Rock
around the Clock by Bill Haley and his Comets. This song released in 1955 was considered to be the
first international hit that spread to millions across the globe, but it wasn t the first Rock song written.

The difference between these two early Rock songs is that with more knowledge about the genre Rock
around the Clock grabbed a larger audience. What made it an international hit is what makes most
rock songs today a hit. A mix of different instruments such as the saxophone, drums and the guitar,
and although the lyrics are repetitive, it s almost like they become hypnotic to the listener.
Culture Although its true that Rock and Roll was developed from other styles of music but it was
actually the mix of Black culture and white spreading that truly advanced it. As Black artists and
bands like the Dominoes began to combine gospel music and add more aggressive rhymes to them
creating rock and roll. After these song began reaching a wider audience being the White teens who
enjoyed this type of thrilling music. After this type of music spread Rock and roll was now based
around the image of Elvis

Is Technology Good or Bad For Us? Technology has been around for a very long time now. In some
way or another, it s been a part of people s lives nowadays whether it s cell phones, tv, computers,
tablets, we all own one or more of these things. Digital electronics started between the late 1950 s and
1970 s. According to Forbes, the first document which included the discussion of building a computer
was on June 30, 1945. Back in the day, technology wasn t as popular or used as it is now. It amazes
me to see how much it has grown. From box Tv s to flat screen tvs to smart tv s that can connect to
other online sites such as youtube, and Netflix. Phones have gone from house phones, to flip phones,
to smartphones. It s hard to believe sometimes how far technology has grown. Technology overall, is
good for high school, college students. It helps them in many ways one is being able to do research
online. My question has always been whether technology is good or bad for younger generations by
Dr. Manny Alvarez. As said by him, nearly every modern parent has given a tablet or smartphone to a
child for entertainment. By entertainment, he means letting them watch movies, and cartoons. Almost
every parent that I know has done this at least once. A lot has to do with the baby being grumpy and
parents using technology as an entertainment for them to not cry. Alvarez does state that parents

Satirical Device Of Dehumanization In Jonathan Swift s A...
Child Devouring Ogres:
Examining the Satirical Device of Dehumanization in Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal Satire
produces a distortion of reality that enlightens its readers about the unadmirable traits of society by
using irony and humour (Snodgrass 406). A Modest Proposal, written by Jonathan Swift in 1729,
presents a satirical proposal through an anonymous proposer. The proposal argues that in order to deal
with the poverty and overpopulation in Ireland, the children of the poor should be sold as food to the
wealthy. It advocates that the benefits include an increase in the income of the poor and in Ireland s
economy. Swift s A Modest Proposal has been analyzed by various scholars many of which have
analyzed Swift s persona and his critique of Ireland s economic conditions. However, there has been
little scholarly discussion on Swift s satirical method in the text, which uses cannibalism and
dehumanization. Many scholars such as Oliver W. Ferguson s Swift s Saeva Indignatio and A Modest
Proposal focus on Swift s anger towards the social classes in Ireland; and other scholars such as
Thomas Lockwood s Swift s Modest Proposal: An Interpretation focus on the role of the anonymous
proposer. Rather than focusing on the effect of the proposal on the contemporary audience, these
scholars choose to look at the text from Swift s view and do not consider the audience s reaction. An
investigation into the satirical form that Swift uses will be useful to discern the impact of the proposal
on the public and the message it presented. This essay will attempt to address this gap by using close
reading and historical evidence to explore the text s satire through the use of cannibalism and
dehumanization. By using the satirical device of dehumanization to commodify the poor people of
Ireland, Swift challenges the prevailing mercantilist theory of the population being the nation s riches .
The problem will be investigated with a study of the contemporary mercantilist thought, a close
reading of the use of dehumanization in the text and the proposer s tone. In the eighteenth century, the
prevailing economic thought was mercantilism. Mercantilism advocated that people are the riches of a
nation (Wallerstein 25).

Solving The Foreclosure Crisis That Devastated The Nation...
Many Americans have and still have been haunted by their pasts. Most of us have learned not to judge
others by backgrounds or past choices, but when it comes to financial credit, our pasts are not so
easily overlooked. With the slow but sure recovery of the foreclosure crisis that devastated the nation
years ago, hangs a hand of hope that offers a second chance to boomerang buyers who merely just
want to get back into home ownership. The rent to own option is the best choice for these buyers who
want a second shot to do it all over.
In its simplest terms, renting to own means that a piece of property such as a home is leased in
exchange for payment. This payment is owed either monthly or weekly depending on the owner who
places the house up for lease. Although, with this option the buyer has the chance to purchase the
house through time.
When people buy a home they have to pay extra amounts that are not covered by the actual price of
the home. These extra expenses include down payments and closing costs. With the rent to own option
buyers will only pay a security rental deposit and also have the choice of paying an option deposit as
well.
Another benefit that comes along with this option is the flexibility it provides for the buyers. The
owners whom are leasing the house to these buyers will not discredit them because of their bad past
credits. They will simply continue their agreement with the buyer if they see that payments are being
made when they are supposed to.

The Golden Age By Aphra Behn
In her poem The Golden Age , Aphra Behn divides nature from civilization, almost in a biblical sense
of Eden and after Eden. Nature and civilization are separated as a positive and negative experience
where love is dishonoured, and sin takes over Earth. Through this before and after division, Behn
shows how the fall of mankind led to the oppression of the female sex as woman, associated with
love, kept the world pure until man, associated with honour, took over. Thus creating Pleasure, Nature
s worst Disease (148). When Nature is overpowered by civilization, gender issues arose. This division
of gender issues sets women up to be a tease or object of pleasure rather than an equal lover who is
free to her own sexuality. The Golden Age presents the fall of natural order with the rise of man.
The beginning of the poem is a very peaceful, Blest Age! (1), with Purling Stream[s] (1), an Eternal
Spring (5), and wanton Gods of Love (15). This takes place in the world before the rise of mankind,
much like the biblical Garden of Eden. In this flowery place, nature triumphs with love. Nature is
referred to as a feminine idea, Virgin Earth;/ Who yielded of her own accord her plenteous Birth (32
33). This can relate to the idea or allusion of Mother Nature, as Earth is commonly referred to as
female. Behn tells the reader how roses, as a symbol for virtuousness, live in prosperous morning dew.
In this peaceful and young world, two lovers are free to all their Joyes and

Symptoms And Treatment Of Phobias
Fear is an aspect of life people deal with every day. Being afraid is part of what makes people human.
Fear that grows with adulthood or causes people to have different conduct is known as a phobia. A
phobia can elicit physical or emotional discomfort when it comes to the fear of an object or situation
that can be treated by therapy or medication in most cases, or untreatable in others. There are four
subtypes of specific phobias known as: blood injection injury, animal, situational, and natural
environment. Sometimes treatment of phobias can be difficult to determine because of the wide range
of phobias that exist. There has not been an adequate amount of research conducted on phobias which
makes it difficult to study or comprehend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A research group stated Specific phobia is one of the most prevalent disorders in the general
population and yet it has received limited attention from researchers in the growing field of
neuroscience (Caseras et al., 2010). The need for understanding phobias is imperative for the people
who are suffering from the symptoms that challenge their daily life. One study has done research on
links between the phobias and neurobiological substrates. The authors state:
Moreover the degree of provoked anxiety by phobia relevant images was strongly associated with
activity in the dorsal ACC and the anterior insula in the SP phobics but not in the BII phobics. These
differences in blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) response could suggest the existence of distinct
neurobiological substrates associated with specific phobia subtypes, challenging the view of specific
phobia as a unitary entity (Caseras et al., 2010).
This study may prove that there could be a cure to phobic reactions if they can find the cause of the
phobia. These studies of the dynamics of the brain could be revolutionary in the world of phobia
diagnosis and treatment of patients.
There are excessive amounts of phobias that have been medically determined. About 4.4% percent of
the adult population in the USA has one or more phobias which will mostly persist for years and

Narrative Complexity Of A Murder

Narrative Complexity of a Murder
Through advancements in technology over the years, a new form of television surrounded by the idea
of narrative complexity arose (Mittell 31). In Jason Mittell s book, Complex TV: The Poetics of
Contemporary Television Storytelling, he argues that narratively complex programs allows viewers to
participate actively by underlining the conventional traditions of storytelling, but also integrating
inventive and long term strategies to attract viewers and create a fan base. This idea of narrative
complexity stems from the balance between both television s traditional episodic form and serial form.
ABC s breakout television show, How to Get Away with Murder, is an example of a program that
implements devices such as nonlinear storytelling and seasonal arcs in order to develop a complex
narrative that fosters engagement in audiences and comments on contemporary TV viewing.
In his book, Complex TV: The Poetics of Contemporary Television Storytelling, Mittell argues that
different media has an operational aesthetic that conforms to the conceptualization of a form of
television storytelling called narrative complexity . In order to explain the notion of operational
aesthetic, in class Professor Jackson explained that it is the way that media makers orchestrate the
plot, narrative and story of a television show in an unusual way. One way that the hit

Mediterranean Diet Research Papers
The Mediterranean diet is one that offers seniors many satisfying foods options along with the
following five health benefits:
Improves Digestion
It s crucial that a senior maintains and keeps a smooth and regular digestive system. Foods rich in
fiber like fruits, vegetables and nuts will help keep their digestion from slowing down. Fiber rich
foods are often highlighted in the frequency chart of the Mediterranean diet and will help a senior
correct any digestion irregularities.
Boost Brain Function
A study published in Neurology observed 674 people who were close to 80 years old. They took a
survey of their eating habits over the years. Those who ate a diet like the Mediterranean diet with low
amounts of saturated fats and plenty of fish had more white and gray matter in their brain, which

Socioeconomic Factors Of The Salem Witchcraft Hysteria In...
Salem Witchcraft Hysteria Salem, Massachusetts became famously known for the witch trials that
took place in the late 1600 s. For the men and women residing in Salem, Massachusetts it was a time
in which they lived in fear of allegations and deceit. Twenty men and women lost their lives during
what is known as the Salem Witchcraft Hysteria. Socioeconomic tensions within the community are to
blame for the witchcraft hysteria in Salem, Massachusetts during the late 1600 s. Factors such as
politics, religion, and social status all played a role in the deadly and devastating era. In Taking Sides:
Clashing Views in United States History, U.S. cultural and intellectual historian Paul Boyer and
Professor Stephen Nissenbaum argue in Salem Possessed: The Social Origins of Witchcraft, why they
believe socioeconomic tensions are responsible for the witchcraft hysteria in Salem. In the same

cause of the Salem witch hysteria had nothing to do with socioeconomic tensions within the
community. To learn more about the Salem witchcraft hysteria, Historian Paul Boyer, and Professor

The Importance Of Technology Literacy In Students Learning
Technology literacy plays a significant role in students learning. It is therefore crucial for educators to
incorporate learning lessons and techniques that will help students build and strengthen their
technology skills (McLaughlin, 2015). The literacy web tool that I am interested in exploring more
extensively is Diigo. Diigo is an annotation tool that encourages students to collect resources, gather
web pages, and add sticky notes and comments on their web page provided from the site (Diigo,
2017). Essential this site serves as a personal library where students can make notes and post
interesting and helpful sources all in one place (Diigo, 2017). Students will also have the opportunity
to share their web pages with classmates. What makes this site exciting is that students can upload a
PDF file right onto their web page and make notes directly on the document. Therefore, students can
opt to read science articles, take notes, highlight important information and complete assignments
right on their computer.
In today s education, students are expected to read and understand complex texts, read higher level
informational texts, expand their academic vocabulary and communicate their reading and learning
abilities through writing, to meet the Common Core Standards (Buehl, 2014). By using this annotation
web tools, students can build and develop essential literacy skills that will help them build

Physicality Of Football Essay
Football is a very unique sport, especially to Americans. It is almost exclusively played in the United
States, at least thats where the most religious fans live. There are roughly 17 million people who tune
in to watch an average football game every weekend, and each stadium holds roughly 100,000 people
which is regularly filled with fans. So what is it that fans of football love so much about the sport, is it
the connection to a cities team, the lovableness of the teams mascot, the fact that football is one of the
last true contact sports, or the attractive cheerleaders. While I might argue that it s hard to complain
while watching the cheerleaders, when most people are asked what aspect of football keeps them
coming back, they often answer that they love the physicality of the sport. While football has always
been a sport of contact, physicality, and force, over the years they have gone to great lengths to add
rules in order to help protect the players from devastating injuries. Some of the measures that have
been taken include face mask penalties, horse collar penalties, and a relatively new penalty for
targeting. While football leagues such as the National Football League have taken great strides to help
prevent devastating injuries in the game the Americans hold so dear to their hearts, I would argue that

Breastfeeding Anthropology
Breastfeeding is an action that is bio cultural and biosocial in nature. Breastfeeding is a biological
process that involves a woman providing milk for an infant. Culturally speaking, breastfeeding is not
always an action by the biological mother. In some cases, the mother needs to return to work not long
after birth. Other times, it is just the cultural norm that other women and children help in the care of a
new baby. Stereotypes and norms surrounding breastfeeding vary cross culturally as well. Socially
speaking, there is an expectation that mothers will breastfeed their offspring. Some people biologically
cannot breastfeed, others cannot breastfeed due to medications, and some women just choose not to
breastfeed.

There is no formal screening associated with being a milk donor, therefore, transmission of disease

possibility of sharing their milk. Only 4% actually shared milk with a friend, family member, or

with breastmilk over formula, but the amount of people who actually participate in milk sharing is
unclear. There is much room for improvement for the process of milk sharing through regulation of

Essay On Estrogen
Jenna Gunselman
12/1/2011
Biochemistry Extra Credit Paper
Estrogen and Its Effects Estrogens are steroids that are important in the reproductive cycles of humans
and some animals, and they are the main female sex hormones. They easily diffuse across cell
membranes, and once they are inside, they bind to estrogen receptors to control many genes and their
expressions. In human women, there are three types of estrogen: estradiol, which is the dominant form
of estrogen in women who are not pregnant, estrone, which is produced during menopause, and
estriol, which is found in pregnant women.
Estradiol is the most potent of the three types of estrogen found in women, almost ten times stronger
than estrone and almost eighty times stronger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both groups were then exposed for another 24 hours to etoposide, a drug used in chemotherapy that
promotes apoptosis. The results of this test showed that caspase 3 activity decreased in cells treated
with estrogen, but increased in cells not treated with estrogen. This supports the hypothesis that
estradiol does have an effect on apoptosis in bone cells, and that without it, cell death will increase and
bone density will diminish.
In addition to its effects on bone health, estrogen also has a huge effect on the cardiovascular system.
Studies have shown that it increases the levels of HDL, or good cholesterol, decreases the levels of
LDL, or bad cholesterol, and relaxes and dilates blood vessels so that blood flow will increase. There
is also evidence that estrogens contribute to the maintenance of the health of the endothelium, or the
lining of the blood vessels, thus further protecting the cardiovascular system from plaque and heart
disease. With menopause, estradiol levels drop, and so these effects on the heart and blood vessels are
lowered, giving postmenopausal women a higher risk of heart disease than premenopausal women.
A study done by Kim and Levin in 2006 at the University of California states that 17 beta estradiol
typically has a protective property on the cardiovascular system, and that it decreases the amount of
cell death in cardiomyocytes, or heart muscle cells. To test this theory, female rats

Hotel Mise En Scene Analysis
In Wes Anderson s film The Grand Budapest Hotel, the cinematography in the scene where Zero
meets Monsieur Gustave after his escape from jail brings to light some of the darkness that is
incorporated in this film. Darkness that was previously brushed off and ignored by the quirkiness and
satire of the film. It is this scene in particular that also shows the level of growth in the relationship
between Gustave and Zero.
The scene begins with a deep focused, long shot of Zero sitting down at the center of a pile of
haystacks. Because he is directly at the center, unaccompanied, this shot gives growth to the theme of
loneliness. The use of the longshot is to make clear the surrounding area and emphasize the aloneness
of Zero. This foreshadows Zeros solitude that will overcome him in the future. The camera pans to the
left to redirect attention to M. Gustave and the other prisoners emerging from the pothole. The scene
then cuts to a shallow focused, medium shot as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The camera angle is kept normal throughout, no high or low angles, which helps keep the scene
simple and understandable. Afterward, the scene cuts to the arrival of the bus at the bottom center of
the frame, then cuts back. This portrays that there s a difference in depth from where the characters
are, and the bus. The camera dollies forward as the criminals bid M. Gustave farewell and wish Zero
good luck. The subsequent series of shots are cuts between M. Gustave and Zero, and the criminals
high jacking the bus (by mercilessly killing off the bus driver first). This is done to show us the
complete disregard from M. Gustave and Zero of the fact that they just let dangerous criminals out
into the world, in return, causing the viewers to share the same

Macbeth Tomorrow And Tomorrow Creeps Me From Day To Day
She should have died hereafter. There would have been a time for such a word. (line 17) Macbeth
utters these words after he hears the news of his wife s death. He is implying that now is not the time
for such a thing to happen. She should not have died right then because those words have little
meaning compared to what was happening at the time. If she had died a day or two after, that would
have been the time to mourn. Macbeth continues on saying, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
creeps in this petty pace from day to day (line 19) meaning that no matter what happens today, the
war, his wife s death, tomorrow will still come. Tomorrow happens whether we like it or not and it
seems to come faster each day. The next few lines, To the last syllables of recorded time, and all our

your feeling to people when they watch you dance. Also if you enjoy dancing then, it will also build
your emotional resilience. Dancing gives a return on self investment because it helps connect to your
mind emotions and spirit. I also say that dancing is a physical resilience because they move with
confidence because they are experiencing the music that they are dancing to. Also, dancing is a social

A Case For A Stock
2. According to The difference, (n.d.), a bond is defined as a loan from the investor to the bond issuer,
to help raise capital for a company or government. A share is defined as a unit of ownership interest in
a corporation or financial asset that provide for an equal supply in any profits, in the form of dividends
( Shares, n.d.).
Ownership and rights
As stated in the beginning, a bond is considered as a loan from the investor. Therefore if a person
bought a bond such as corporate bonds from a bond issuer, he or she does not have any ownership in
the company with no direct control over the business. It will be just limited to lending and borrowing.
In the case for a stock, when companies wish to expend but unable to do solely through the income
they earn and turn to the financial markets for additional financing by splitting the company up into
stocks, and then sell a portion of on the open market. A person who buys stock is therefore buying an
actual share of the company, which makes him or her part owner (Kenny, 2016). Due to this, the
person who owns the stock (with the exception to preferred stocks) is entitled to vote on annual
general meeting.
Period of ownership
As bond has a loan period. The issuer issues a bond that contains the interest rate that will be paid and
the time at which the loaned funds (bond principal) must be returned also known as maturity date (
Bond, n.d.) As for stocks, the owner can own for an unlimited period until he or she

Endocrine Disrupters
It is important to develop alternatives to fossil fuels because the earth s reserves of these energy
resources are in great decline. The usage of fossil fuel also causes an increase in the number of carbon
dioxide released into the atmosphere. Because of the increase number of carbon dioxide, it s causing
the ocean water to become acidic endangering marine life. Also the smog created from burning fossil
will result like the video we watched about china. In addition, in order to have sustainable agriculture,
the use of fossil fuel needs to be decreased thus lowering the amount of pollution in the soil.
3. Endocrine disrupters are toxic substances that disrupt the hormone system in the human body. They
are a problem for humans because the hormone system regulates many things in the body such as
growth, development, and brain function and some of these disrupters interfere with the function of
these hormones from performing it s job. Because some of these toxins may be carcinogenic and
teratogenic, they are a danger to the humankind. We are exposed to these toxins from the environment
such as run off from streams and/or from the food that we ingest such as fish. We can avoid endocrine
disrupters by taking precautionary measures such as avoiding plastics that contain biphosphenol A

The Good and Bad of Religion
There are numerous implications of religion in human society. Perhaps, the main positive ones are its
ability to stimulate a perception of meaning in life, sympathy, mercifulness and love of others. Among
the disapproving implications are included opinionated, ferocious behaviors contrary to other people
of different religions, and the mishandling of power and supremacy. Future results for religious people
can create communities of people who support one another. I would say that one recognized pro of a
religion is the idea of certainty in something superior to oneself. In a realm where there is so many
who display so much of ego and self praise, religion allows individuals to conquer their own idea of
self towards a better end. This is a good factor in terms of being capable of seeing oneself as part of
something greater and not the demise in its own right. Along these stances, the concept of being able
to do fair to others in the name of something more can only benefit to make society and the people
within it excel.

changed for adaptations? How have stories been adapted? What effects do the stories and adaptations
have on people? There are numerous renditions of the same folktales, most differentiating due to the
fact that they were each adapted to be based on their cultures. Certain cultures alter specific aspects of
the story so that it can be more relatable to their society. However, these alterations can affect how
people interpret the meaning or purpose of the story. In Tatar s article, An Introduction to Fairy Tales,

reassure them about their own fears and their own sense of self, (Tatar 306). She describes how many

rather than for children. Nowadays, stories have been adapted to be more suitable for children. Fairy

How Has Shogun Tokugawa Made The Isolation Of Japan...
It was during the Edo period, also known as the Tokugawa period (1600 1868) when Japan made the
decision to isolate itself from the rest of the world. The Japanese believed any contact with the outside
world would contaminate and disrupt their strictly organized society, which was why they limited their
contact with other civilizations. This period of isolation led to many factors such as, no warfare or

cultures, knowledge, or economy. For most of the Edo period, Japan was a peaceful place with happy

The Effect Of Bacterial Growth On Space Flight
Early studies have documented that bacterial growth increases in space flight; yet, the inherent
mechanisms beholden to this growth have not been discovered. As the bacteria devour nutrients, they
discharge corollary that can affect growth and impact ultimate cell population denseness. It is
acknowledged that these metabolic processes charge a reduction in density of the fluid zone and the
solute gradient about every cell. Along this planet, this fluctuation in density leads to an elasticity
transfer of the expelled by products. The fluid motion enclosing the cells can be changed through the
restricting of the movement to just diffusion because of the lack of activity and deposit in the low
gravity space flight surroundings. From this biophysical representation, it was speculated that an
increase in speed impacts the lag phase period and the final cell s denseness of suspended cultures of
bacteria in a deviating way. This is because of the modifications obtained in the extra cellular fluid
constitution. Contained in the paper are experiments of different accelerations that frequently
sustained this hypothesis, culmination in foreseeable growth kinetics. Other experiments show plumes
of fluid that are visible to the naked eye emerging from metabolizing bacterial cultures. If related fluid
kinetics were discovered to come about on a microscopic level, it might inform us of how acceleration

Essay Abraham Lincoln s Assassination
Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States was elected president on November 6,
1860. Not even on the South s ballot, Lincoln received 40% of the popular vote. As a strong
republican, Lincoln believed in the abolition of slavery. Lincoln became president in the highest
conflict between North and South in history, and wanted to preserve the Union. He believed that the
South should not be punished after the Civil War, because he thought that they had already been

Lee surrendered at the Appomattox Courthouse, nearly ending the War (Reilly, B., Zimmerman, D. J.).
John Wilkes Booth became a professional actor at the age of seventeen (Reilly, B., Zimmerman, D. J.).
During the Civil War, he smuggled medicine to the Confederates and worked as a spy (Reilly, B.,
Zimmerman, D. J.). Then, when Richmond fell to Union forces, Booth was crushed by the fall of the

Lincoln s Death on National Affairs). He hated that slaves would be treated as equals (The Lincoln
Assassination and its Aftermath). Previously, Booth had wanted to abduct Lincoln to trade him for
prisoners of war to benefit the Confederates, but the defeat of the South changed his plans to murder
(Redford, R.). After the war, Lincoln gave a speech outlining his plans for peace and reconstruction
for the country (34f. The Assassination of the President). Upon hearing Lincoln s words, Booth
muttered Now, by God I ll put him through...this is the last speech he will ever make (qtd 34f. The
Assassination of the President).
Although the war was over, there was still

  • 2. Head Hair In Ancient Egypt In Ancient Egypt, head hair was commonly associated with one s age and wealth where a shaven head with a small curl at the side of the head would indicate a youth, while wigs were worn by older people to conceal their greying or lack of hair. As for China, hairstyles were not an easily changeable outlet for personal expression, but rather a symbol of everything from status to ethnicity to political ideals until the recent years after 1970s. In the ancient times, Confucius s philosophy of Filial Piety was deeply rooted in the mindsets of the people, and stated that one s body, hair and skin was granted by parents. Thus, it was considered extremely disrespectful to cut head hair. And in the Tang Dynasty, hairdos with different shapes evolved into a symbol of class status. Hairstyles were also used as an indicator of a woman s marriage status; an unmarried woman wore her hair down or tied in a single braid, while a married woman usually had her hair up in coils or a knot. In Africa, hairstyles were seen as a representation of one s tribe. Different styles hold different meanings to each tribe. The Masai warriors wore headdresses, spent hours braiding each other s hair and dyed their hair red. Women would shave their heads when they are married to symbolise a new beginning. The site is located in a convenient neighborhood one block south Union St at 1530 Green St. This Orthodox Church is the oldest Orthodox parish in town, and it is one of the few parishes in northern California with such a unique shape. The church was designed to show the Russian unique architect, and its outstanding shape connected to Moscow patriarch. Even though it is a small church, but it looks stunning where it s placed right in the corner with a two sides street view. What religious tradition the site is a part of The contemporary Orthodox Church historically connects to the earliest Christian communities founded in the eastern part of the Mediterranean by Jesus. The Russian Orthodox reflects not only its Orthodox heritage, but also the culture of its native land. In fact, it also reflects the most central belief in all Christianity is the doctrine of resurrection. People who follow the Orthodox Church believe that Jesus Christ was crucified and died, then afterward descended into Hell and returned three days later, fully human and divine. • 4. Essay on George Washington s Pesidency George Washington s Presidency George Washington is regarded as a natural leader and the father of our country. He was the first president under the Constitution, not the first president of the United States. From the very beginning, he came into a job full of problems and a mile long to do list. He had to set up the Judiciary Branch, deal with uprisings and conflicts between the natives and the western settlers, and try to keep together a nation that was falling apart. He created a group of advisors (the cabinet) to help him with certain issues. He had a few things on his mind at the time such as: stay out of a war, build up revenue to pay off Revolutionary War debt, and try to make peace with England. Washington was a natural ... It had jurisdiction over all civil actions between states, or between a state and the United States. Also in the act it created thirteen Judicial Districts. Within these Judicial Districts were circuit courts and district courts. After finishing the Judicial Branch, Washington finally got time to create the Executive Branch. The first offices created were the Secretary of the State, (headed by Thomas Jefferson) the Secretary of the Treasury, (headed by Alexander Hamilton) the Secretary of War, (headed by Henry Knox) the Postmaster General, (headed by Samuel Osgood) and the Attorney General (headed by Edmund Randolph). These offices became the backbone for the Presidential Cabinet. Medicine was advancing, the effects of the Enlightenment were still underway, and a new age of exploration occurred as those of Europe began to extend their hands across the world towards America. During these times the common folk changed and adapted many of their ideals, and suffered many hardships and heartaches. In this period, a man of Normandy named Gustave Flaubert caught many of these hardships within his writings. With words, thoughts, and crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went through day by day. As an article put out by TV Tropes explains, Flaubert was famous for his precise, straightforward writing style, filled with the ideal of realism: Flaubert s writing ... Felicite, as explained at the very beginning of the story, was known for her cleanliness, making people all around them envy Madame Aubaine for her choice of servant. Though Madame Aubaine s story is interesting in itself, the story of Felicite is not only one of importance to the story but also to our understanding of these times in general. Her father and mother were both killed when she was very young, and when her siblings split up without her she was left alone to find work. Most places where she found it were hostile to a young woman of eighteen, leaving her vulnerable to physical and verbal abuse. She even experienced this through a brief relationship, and though she did end up loving him he eventually revealed he was only looking for someone to marry to avoid the draft. Walking away in defeat, she found Madame Aubaine and signed on to work for her fifty years. It s here that she begins the biggest of her struggles. Under Madame Aubaine she suffered four hardships that were common in Felicite s days. Her first hardship was the loss of her nephew on his journey to America. As explained in the story, when Felicite s nephew left for the new world she constantly paced back and forth hoping a letter from him would arrive soon. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jack Dawson (hero) and Kate Winslet plays Rose DeWitt Bukater (heroine). Titanic tells the evergreen love story of Rose and Jack. Rose is a first class passenger, but her family is going through financial crises which her mother Ruth is trying to resolve and retain their weakening high class status through her marriage with Cal Hockley, her fiancé. When Jack enters the scene, it is apparent that he is nervous; but, as he approaches Rose, his face reflects calm but courage. While attempting to discourage her from suicide, Jack realizes she is actually very disturbed, but afraid to jump.In this case, he shares with her some anecdotes on his experience with ice fishing to ease her stress off. Examining another sub scene where she trips and falls, we can see his courageous face turning into a face of her new hope for life. Her face is brightened, her eyes are mesmerized, and her mind is strengthened by the end of this shot leaving audience enchanted. The setting is yet another critical component playing a more active role in this scene. Choosing the stern to be the best place for her to commit suicide is where the vitality of this set comes to play. Director James Cameron chose this particular location and the hand rails for her to accidentally trip was to create a dramatic helpless effect which he knew will trigger the minds of his audience. This significant setting is at the very end of the ship where no one usually wanders at night. It is quite and peaceful. This Genre of music developed from other styles of music such as country, Jazz, and gospel. One Reason for the sudden emergence of Rock and Roll was because of the likes of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino and other Rock and Roll icons that have transformed music, as we know it. Pioneer of Rock and Roll During the early 50s, many artists were coming out with there own Rock and Roll songs making it difficult for us to identify who was the pioneer of Rock and Roll. Today most people think of Elvis Presley when they hear Rock and Roll however the very first Rock and Roll hit was called Rock around the Clock by Bill Haley and his Comets. • 10. Satirical Device Of Dehumanization In Jonathan Swift s A... Child Devouring Ogres: Examining the Satirical Device of Dehumanization in Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal Satire produces a distortion of reality that enlightens its readers about the unadmirable traits of society by using irony and humour (Snodgrass 406). A Modest Proposal, written by Jonathan Swift in 1729, presents a satirical proposal through an anonymous proposer. The proposal argues that in order to deal with the poverty and overpopulation in Ireland, the children of the poor should be sold as food to the wealthy. It advocates that the benefits include an increase in the income of the poor and in Ireland s economy. Swift s A Modest Proposal has been analyzed by various scholars many of which have analyzed Swift s persona and his critique of Ireland s economic conditions. However, there has been little scholarly discussion on Swift s satirical method in the text, which uses cannibalism and dehumanization. Many scholars such as Oliver W. Ferguson s Swift s Saeva Indignatio and A Modest Proposal focus on Swift s anger towards the social classes in Ireland; and other scholars such as Thomas Lockwood s Swift s Modest Proposal: An Interpretation focus on the role of the anonymous proposer. Rather than focusing on the effect of the proposal on the contemporary audience, these scholars choose to look at the text from Swift s view and do not consider the audience s reaction. An investigation into the satirical form that Swift uses will be useful to discern the impact of the proposal on the public and the message it presented. This essay will attempt to address this gap by using close reading and historical evidence to explore the text s satire through the use of cannibalism and dehumanization. By using the satirical device of dehumanization to commodify the poor people of Ireland, Swift challenges the prevailing mercantilist theory of the population being the nation s riches . The problem will be investigated with a study of the contemporary mercantilist thought, a close reading of the use of dehumanization in the text and the proposer s tone. In the eighteenth century, the prevailing economic thought was mercantilism. Mercantilism advocated that people are the riches of a nation (Wallerstein 25). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Solving The Foreclosure Crisis That Devastated The Nation... Many Americans have and still have been haunted by their pasts. Most of us have learned not to judge others by backgrounds or past choices, but when it comes to financial credit, our pasts are not so easily overlooked. With the slow but sure recovery of the foreclosure crisis that devastated the nation years ago, hangs a hand of hope that offers a second chance to boomerang buyers who merely just want to get back into home ownership. The rent to own option is the best choice for these buyers who want a second shot to do it all over. In its simplest terms, renting to own means that a piece of property such as a home is leased in exchange for payment. This payment is owed either monthly or weekly depending on the owner who places the house up for lease. Although, with this option the buyer has the chance to purchase the house through time. When people buy a home they have to pay extra amounts that are not covered by the actual price of the home. These extra expenses include down payments and closing costs. With the rent to own option buyers will only pay a security rental deposit and also have the choice of paying an option deposit as well. Another benefit that comes along with this option is the flexibility it provides for the buyers. The owners whom are leasing the house to these buyers will not discredit them because of their bad past credits. They will simply continue their agreement with the buyer if they see that payments are being made when they are supposed to. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Golden Age By Aphra Behn In her poem The Golden Age , Aphra Behn divides nature from civilization, almost in a biblical sense of Eden and after Eden. Nature and civilization are separated as a positive and negative experience where love is dishonoured, and sin takes over Earth. Through this before and after division, Behn shows how the fall of mankind led to the oppression of the female sex as woman, associated with love, kept the world pure until man, associated with honour, took over. Thus creating Pleasure, Nature s worst Disease (148). When Nature is overpowered by civilization, gender issues arose. This division of gender issues sets women up to be a tease or object of pleasure rather than an equal lover who is free to her own sexuality. The Golden Age presents the fall of natural order with the rise of man. The beginning of the poem is a very peaceful, Blest Age! (1), with Purling Stream[s] (1), an Eternal Spring (5), and wanton Gods of Love (15). This takes place in the world before the rise of mankind, much like the biblical Garden of Eden. In this flowery place, nature triumphs with love. Nature is referred to as a feminine idea, Virgin Earth;/ Who yielded of her own accord her plenteous Birth (32 33). This can relate to the idea or allusion of Mother Nature, as Earth is commonly referred to as female. Behn tells the reader how roses, as a symbol for virtuousness, live in prosperous morning dew. • 15. Narrative Complexity Of A Murder Victoria Alvarez Josh Jackson/Ganesh Media Studies 10 Section 104 27 September 2016 Narrative Complexity of a Murder Through advancements in technology over the years, a new form of television surrounded by the idea of narrative complexity arose (Mittell 31). In Jason Mittell s book, Complex TV: The Poetics of Contemporary Television Storytelling, he argues that narratively complex programs allows viewers to participate actively by underlining the conventional traditions of storytelling, but also integrating inventive and long term strategies to attract viewers and create a fan base. This idea of narrative complexity stems from the balance between both television s traditional episodic form and serial form. ABC s breakout television show, How to Get Away with Murder, is an example of a program that implements devices such as nonlinear storytelling and seasonal arcs in order to develop a complex narrative that fosters engagement in audiences and comments on contemporary TV viewing. In his book, Complex TV: The Poetics of Contemporary Television Storytelling, Mittell argues that different media has an operational aesthetic that conforms to the conceptualization of a form of television storytelling called narrative complexity . In order to explain the notion of operational aesthetic, in class Professor Jackson explained that it is the way that media makers orchestrate the plot, narrative and story of a television show in an unusual way. So what is it that fans of football love so much about the sport, is it the connection to a cities team, the lovableness of the teams mascot, the fact that football is one of the last true contact sports, or the attractive cheerleaders. While I might argue that it s hard to complain while watching the cheerleaders, when most people are asked what aspect of football keeps them coming back, they often answer that they love the physicality of the sport. While football has always been a sport of contact, physicality, and force, over the years they have gone to great lengths to add rules in order to help protect the players from devastating injuries. Some of the measures that have been taken include face mask penalties, horse collar penalties, and a relatively new penalty for targeting. They easily diffuse across cell membranes, and once they are inside, they bind to estrogen receptors to control many genes and their expressions. In human women, there are three types of estrogen: estradiol, which is the dominant form of estrogen in women who are not pregnant, estrone, which is produced during menopause, and estriol, which is found in pregnant women. Both groups were then exposed for another 24 hours to etoposide, a drug used in chemotherapy that promotes apoptosis. The results of this test showed that caspase 3 activity decreased in cells treated with estrogen, but increased in cells not treated with estrogen. This supports the hypothesis that estradiol does have an effect on apoptosis in bone cells, and that without it, cell death will increase and bone density will diminish. In addition to its effects on bone health, estrogen also has a huge effect on the cardiovascular system. Studies have shown that it increases the levels of HDL, or good cholesterol, decreases the levels of LDL, or bad cholesterol, and relaxes and dilates blood vessels so that blood flow will increase. There is also evidence that estrogens contribute to the maintenance of the health of the endothelium, or the lining of the blood vessels, thus further protecting the cardiovascular system from plaque and heart disease. With menopause, estradiol levels drop, and so these effects on the heart and blood vessels are lowered, giving postmenopausal women a higher risk of heart disease than premenopausal women. A study done by Kim and Levin in 2006 at the University of California states that 17 beta estradiol typically has a protective property on the cardiovascular system, and that it decreases the amount of cell death in cardiomyocytes, or heart muscle cells. Darkness that was previously brushed off and ignored by the quirkiness and satire of the film. It is this scene in particular that also shows the level of growth in the relationship between Gustave and Zero. The scene begins with a deep focused, long shot of Zero sitting down at the center of a pile of haystacks. Because he is directly at the center, unaccompanied, this shot gives growth to the theme of loneliness. The use of the longshot is to make clear the surrounding area and emphasize the aloneness of Zero. This foreshadows Zeros solitude that will overcome him in the future. She should not have died right then because those words have little meaning compared to what was happening at the time. If she had died a day or two after, that would have been the time to mourn. Macbeth continues on saying, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day (line 19) meaning that no matter what happens today, the war, his wife s death, tomorrow will still come. Among the disapproving implications are included opinionated, ferocious behaviors contrary to other people of different religions, and the mishandling of power and supremacy. Future results for religious people can create communities of people who support one another. I would say that one recognized pro of a religion is the idea of certainty in something superior to oneself. In a realm where there is so many who display so much of ego and self praise, religion allows individuals to conquer their own idea of self towards a better end. This is a good factor in terms of being capable of seeing oneself as part of something greater and not the demise in its own right. Along these stances, the concept of being able to do fair to others in the name of something more can only benefit to make society and the people within it excel. • 44. The Effect Of Bacterial Growth On Space Flight Early studies have documented that bacterial growth increases in space flight; yet, the inherent mechanisms beholden to this growth have not been discovered. As the bacteria devour nutrients, they discharge corollary that can affect growth and impact ultimate cell population denseness. It is acknowledged that these metabolic processes charge a reduction in density of the fluid zone and the solute gradient about every cell. Along this planet, this fluctuation in density leads to an elasticity transfer of the expelled by products. The fluid motion enclosing the cells can be changed through the restricting of the movement to just diffusion because of the lack of activity and deposit in the low gravity space flight surroundings. From this biophysical representation, it was speculated that an increase in speed impacts the lag phase period and the final cell s denseness of suspended cultures of bacteria in a deviating way. This is because of the modifications obtained in the extra cellular fluid constitution. Contained in the paper are experiments of different accelerations that frequently sustained this hypothesis, culmination in foreseeable growth kinetics. Other experiments show plumes of fluid that are visible to the naked eye emerging from metabolizing bacterial cultures.
