The exciting news is that the need to reconstruct the Garrison Street bridge over Ralston Creek, which will remove adjacent commercial properties and 70 homes from the flood plain designation, will launch a completely revitalized park along Ralston Creek between Garrison and Carr Streets.

1. Engage the neighborhood in the planning process for the Park re- development

2. Renovate and provide facilities that meet current design standards

Consumer Product Safety (CPSC) and ASTM Standards
3. Enhance the Ralston Creek corridor extending through the park site
Create opportunities for the creek to be a park feature/ focal point
Enhance water quality with pools and vegetation
Provide and enhance wildlife habitat areas
Provide access points down to the creek edge
Grade creek banks for natural appearance
4. Provide a strong visual and physical connection to the Triangle Redevelopment Area to the west
Provide a safe pedestrian crossing at Garrison Street
Create better visibility between the park and redevelopment area
5. Develop a safe comprehensive multi-use trail system
Provide better connectivity to adjacent neighborhoods, the Triangle
Redevelopment and the regional trail system which links to Lutz and Stenger Sports Complexes.
Provide internal trail loops for walking/ jogging
6. Provide for a sustainable and more diverse landscape type throughout the park
Create riparian/ wetland areas along the creek for water quality and visual interest
Create xeric upland areas to conserve water and reduce maintenance
Limit manicured/ irrigated turf to high use and high visibility areas
7. Provide for a variety of park activities for park users of all ages
8. Provide opportunities for environmental education
Create demonstration garden areas
