This document discusses communication technology predictions for the year 2024. It outlines theories like critical mass theory, uses and gratification theory, and social learning theory and how they may apply to innovations in vehicles, phones, and classrooms. By 2024, self-driving cars are expected to be common, using vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. Phones will have new social media and monitoring apps based on users' needs. Classrooms will likely transition to fully virtual learning as technology adoption increases based on social learning theory.

3. CRITICAL MASS THEORY
• The Critical Mass Theory explains
that after an innovation is
introduced, the mass majority needs
to be persuaded to support that
innovation. Once the mass majority
is persuaded this will lead to further
growth, without as much effort from
the creators.

4. CARS IN 2024
• Self Driving cars are already being tested, and by 2024 car
manufacturers will have the technology to meet all government
regulations. Driving will no longer be an responsibility but
more of a luxury.
• V2V communication- vehicle to vehicle communication will
most likely be in all cars being produced in 2024. This will allow
cars to communicate accidents and respond when necessary to
avoid accidents, without the driver’s assistance.
• V2I communication- Vehicle to infrastructure communication is
similar to V2V, but cars will have the ability to communicate
with traffic lights, stop signs, and traffic information
management systems. This will allow the driver to be aware of
all traffic jams and take the quickest and safest route to their
destination.
• Augmented Reality- AR Cars will display information on top of
the dashboard. This information includes, but is not limited to,
information about objects in front of you while driving, how far
you are from colliding with something, and integrated gps
systems. The integrates gps systems will show you what lane to
be in, and tell you where to turn without you ever having to
take your eyes off the road.

5. HOW DOES THE CRITICAL MASS THEORY
APPLY TO CARS IN 2024?
• Allowing a car to drive for you can be a
bit scary, or let’s face it, VERY SCARY.
Many people will be hesitant to try it
out especially because of the history of
mechanical defects in cars. After many
people give it a try it will gain so much
attention that all car manufacturers will
be using the new innovations in their
productions. The Critical Mass Theory
assumes that in 2024 the rate at which
people adopt car innovations, will
become self sustaining and continue to
grow.

The Uses and Gratification Theory
explains why people choose a
particular type of media. This
theory focuses on personal
companionship,
entertainment/diversion,
surveillance/information, and
personal identity.

8. HOW DOES THE USES AND GRATIFICATION THEORY
APPLY TO PHONES IN 2024?
• In 2024 most phones will be transparent and will be more convenient and allow
easier access to social media networks. People are already highly integrated in social
media, but in 10 years there will be a major increase social media networks that are
created based off of the User and Gratification Theory. There will be an app for
everything you can think of such as monitoring security systems, turning off
appliances, app controlled cleaning devices, and much more. People use their
personal needs to determine what apps will benefit them and others. People focus
on entertainment and personal identity to decide what social networks they join, so
in 2024 there will be a wide range of social networks for each social group.

SOCIAL COGNITIVE THEORY
• The Social Learning Theory/ Social
Cognitive Theory states humans do not
have to experience something directly
to learn from it, they can learn from
others social interactions. In
communication this theory focuses on
the power of example.

11. HOW DOES THE SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY/
SOCIAL COGNITIVE THEORY APPLY TO CLASSROOM ADVANCEMENTS IN
2024?
• At the rate of technology in 2024 all classes will be virtual. Most grade
schools have already transitioned from using books and computers to using
tablets and other updated technology to make learning more exciting and
more convenient. With these changes happening at the early years of
education it foreshadows what education will look like 10 yrs from now.
Teachers will be teaching students across the country, & all textbooks will be
available via online. The Social Learning Theory/ Social Cognitive Theory
explains how in classrooms it has been observed that virtual learning is more
convenient. Although this has not been tested on the entire world given the
amount of people that are learning through virtual technology, scientist have
been able to conclude that virtual learning will take over in the near future.
