Soil Pollution Involving The Accumulation Of Excess Heavy...
Soil pollution involving the accumulation of excess heavy metals is toxic to humans and other
mammalian life.1 The effect on animals can ac cumulate in the food chains and instigate public health
concerns in the future. Normally, the exposure due to food chain transfer is chronic, however, there are
rare acute cases where direct ingestion of such pollutants is poisonous.2 Given the importance of the
situation, the determination of toxic heavy metals in the environment is essential.
The primary source of soil pollution can be at tributed to the history of industrial/commercial activi
ties in certain areas.4 We have chosen to analyze the soil at Northwestern University to highlight
human factors and contributions to this pollution. Given the history of the Northwestern, there are
many areas of the campus that differ in properties such as the age of buildings, the proximity to bodies
of water, areas of construction, and high traffic. For use in our study, the campus was divided into
areas A, B, C, D, E, F (Figure 1). Since Northwestern has been regularly undergoing construction in
the past century, we pre dicted that the areas with older buildings would have different metal
concentrations when compared with areas with more recent architecture. Due to the use of lead based
paint in old construction, we expect that there should be a higher concentration of metals such as lead
found near older buildings such as University Hall or Locy Hall in area E in comparison to area F with

Tom Sawyer Quotes And Analysis
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer all started with a an adventurous and ignorant young boy. He sneaks
out the house one night with one of his friends, leaving them hiding in a graveyard and witnessing the
murder of Dr. Robinson. Things go downhill from there, leaving Muff Potter to be falsely convicted of
the Murder due to the lying words of Injun Joe, Robinson s real murderer. Once Tom returns from a
risky pirate trip, Tom begins to search for hidden treasure, which ultimately leads to a rundown with
vengeful Injun Joe. Mark Twain, author of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, has cultivated Tom into
someone who takes one too many risks without weighing the consequences or rewards against the risk
itself. But what motivates Tom to do such illogical things. Tom s motivation for his risks are on the
account of friends and family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He knows sneaking out is dangerous and he knows Huckleberry Finn is not most trustworthy. This is
shown when Tom says, Huckleberry was cordially hated by the mothers of the town, because he was
idle and lawless and vulgar and bad. (pg.39) The people in the town disliked Huckleberry and Tom
knew that. Even the school teachers furiously punish him once they found out that he had done such
small thing as have a conversation with him. Tom knew about the risk, but he took the chance anyway
for such a small reward as removing warts or his hands and making friends with the well known
Huckleberry Finn. His risk does not pay off, as he ended up witnessing Dr. Robinson s murder, and
ending up in a tight spot with Injun Joe. But it is clear that friendship is a high priority on Tom s

Canon Essay
Good morning fellow English enthusiasts. I would firstly like to thank you the opportunity talk to you
about the importance and the value of the canon in our school systems. The literary canon is a
controversial topic between english scholars and it has been debated as to whether or not it is
important to continue teaching the canon to students. The canon is quintessential to the school
program and will forever be the what makes Literature special. The canon is the be all end all of
english texts, in its most simple form the canon is a list of texts which is considered to be the best
works of Literature in human history. However each person s opinion on what constitutes a literary
text can differ from one person to another. For me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The selection for canonical texts is still controversial as there are many criteria required for selection
into the canon such as use of language, imagery, it must stand the test of time, and reflects on the
social views at the time the text was written. Literature and the canon is still important. What do we
lose when we don t teach students about it? This is the question which I will answer for you here
today.
A range of educators including Emily Chiariello have debated that Literature is a waste of time and
should not be taught, because of the difference between the language now and the language that was
used when the texts were written this is what she means when they ask Is the instructional time spent
struggling to understand classics archaic language worth it? Does this lead to teachers reading for
students? in her article titled A Classic Debate . When she says this she ignores how the difference in
language can highlight messages in the novel, as Literature is art. When Edgar Allen Poe wrote his
poems there was a beauty to his words and the way sentences were formed, this only added to the
deep meaning in his poems such as one quote from his poem The Premature Burial The boundaries
which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and

Who Is Michelangelo Buonarroti
A rare exhibit: 133 of Michelangelo Buonarroti s drawings in one place. Over one hundred
masterpieces begging for attention, but one in particular caught my eye. A series of sketches of eyes,
locks of hair, and a side portrait of a man. The description suggested it was the collaboration of
Michelangelo and his pupils Antonio Mini and Andrea Quaratesi. In the bottom right hand corner of
this drawing Michelangelo writes a message telling a frustrated student to have patience. This drawing
spoke to me because it provides an understanding for Michelangelo s thought process. It illustrates the
growth Michelangelo wanted to see not only within himself, but his pupils as well.
These series of sketches show how much Michelangelo strove to understand

Essay about The Road to the American Civil War
The majority of speculations regarding the causes of the American Civil War are in some relation to
slavery. While slavery was a factor in the disagreements that led to the Civil War, it was not the
solitary or primary cause. There were three other, larger causes that contributed more directly to the
beginning of the secession of the southern states and, eventually, the start of the war. Those three
causes included economic and social divergence amongst the North and South, state versus national
rights, and the Supreme Court s ruling in the Dred Scott case. Each of these causes involved slavery in
some way, but were not exclusively based upon slavery. The North and South were forming
completely different economies, and therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The South had some urbanization, in cities such as Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina.
These cities served as transportation hubs, mainly for the transporting of goods, specifically cotton.
The South would transport cotton to the northern industries to produce finished goods from the cotton.
The transportation hubs and railroad systems existed more often in the North than in the South,
because there were more large cities. Due to the North and South existing with completely diverse
demographics, geographies, and economies they were unable to understand the needs of one another
in reference to the continuation of their thriving economies. With the North becoming more urbanized
and based on industry, its power was also growing. The bulk of politics, transportation, and industry
all existed in the North. The South began forming an opinion that new political decisions were being
made in the North s favor, and threatening the expansion of slavery, which threatened the expansion of
their economic growth. This began with the formation of Henry Clay s Missouri Compromise of 1820,
which let Missouri come into the Union as a slave state, and Maine would come in as a free state. This
established a clear separation, at the southern border of Missouri, between the slave and free states,

Economic Chaos And Confusion Following The American...
The combination of economic chaos and confusion following the American Revolution with the
virtually nonexistent economic powers of the federal government under the Articles of Confederation
put US in a very poor economic position upon the arrival of the Constitution (American Pageant 161).
This, however, changed under the Constitution and thus during the administration of Washington as
the federal government could now have a large say in the economics of America. After being put into
office, Washington established a cabinet and assigned Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding
fathers, to be the Secretary of Treasury. Knowing that debt and the growing interest rates were a very
large domestic problem, Hamilton set out to create a plan for a strong economy. He first implemented
tariffs, which are taxes on foreign goods coming into the country, into his plan, hoping that it would
stimulate manufacturing within the country (Chernow 163). Although this did succeed in stimulating
industry within America, it also angered many Americans in the south and west because they did not
manufacture many goods, but were rather mainly consumers and merchants who were those being
taxed the most (Chernow 153).
Another component of Hamilton s plan for economic aid was the federal assumption of state debt,
which caused many mixed sentiments between the states. On one hand, the states that owed a large
sum of money were very happy as they did not need to pay the debt anymore, at least to the

James Baldwin Sonny s Blues and Battle Royal Ralph Ellison are two stories by young african
american men in the 50 s. Racial abuse was in abundance during this era. In both stories race has an
important role however, in Battle Royal Ellison used race as the driving force of the story. In Sonny s
Blues Baldwin uses race as an important theme but is subtle as opposed to Ellison who directly
addresses race as the issue. Sonny s Blues and Battle Royal depicted the suffering of young black men
in harlem, and illustrated the struggle of generation past and present; and the vicious cycle of the
stereotype of african americans. African americans during this time endured in environment of hatred,

The Progression from spirituals to Black Gospel Music
Many people would refer to gospel music as religious songs or songs regarding to life as a Christian.
Gospel music varies, which gives an alternative to Christian music with a mix of secular music. With
it being many styles of Christian music, the performance, the lyrics, instruments and the formation,
gives gospel music different meanings. To most, gospel is simply thanks and praise and worship to the
Lord. The establishment of gospel goes way back with European and African roots. The first known
use of gospel was in 1874 when a European songwriter named Philip P. Bliss titled a songbook as
Gospel Songs. Tribal African music was highly different than European music in major ways.

Response To Television In The 1950 s
Secondly, there was a level of criticism brought against television from people who feared that
television could, have an array of devastating effects on family relationship and the efficient
functioning of the household. (Edgerton, p. 94) Also, educators were concerned on children s
increased time watching television. Educators argued that children had to pay full attention to the
television, and this took them away from important tasks such as homework. Television response to
this was to make television into the daily habit. With increased numbers of televisions in household
there will be less resistance against it. These efforts proved to be successful as we saw in the mid 1950

Edgerton notes that, TV was a fantasy bomb shelter kind of escape, featuring showgirls and dancing
puppets a perfect tranquilizer for a nation worried about Commies at the door and subversives under
the bed. And yet it brought the reality of war, politics, and the real world into pristine suburban living
rooms. (Edgerton, p. 109) We see this correlate with the example of Television historian Horace
Newcomb upbringing in a small town in Mississippi in the early 1950 s with the exposure of
television. Newcomb recalled that, television intruded into his life at age nine and irreversibly altered
his experience of what he terms his region ideology, racial attitudes, and localism. Watching African
American prizefighters, comedies, and dramas, Korean War news broadcast, atomic bombs
denotations, and the whole parade if television programming offered a perspective on the world at
large that rarely found in other media, other forms. (Edgerton, p. 109). Here, we see a person being
able to see parts of the world he would have never seen if it was not for television. A broader
perspective was gain for Newcomb was able to attain information from television that was more than
just words, but with images. He described seeing atomic bombs being detonated. If he merely heard
one s description of this over radio, he would not have the full grasp of how devastating and grim an
atomic bomb can be. Attainment of a broader perspective provided the platform from American
society to evolve and

All there is to it is to graduate high school and receive a diploma. To be an architect there is more you
have to do than just receive a diploma unless it is for small sheds or barns. For houses usually require
two years of college. The longer time you spend in collage the better job you will find. With that you
will be making quite a bit more money. An average carpenter makes $40,500 per year (Carpenter
Course and Educationand Training Requierments, n.d.). An architect makes a lot more than that. They
make on average $73,340 per year; that was in 2011 (Building a careerin Architecture, n.d.). If added
together that is $113,840 per year. That is pretty good wages. The problem with that is an architect s
money is mostly from selling his designs that they make. So a carpentry engineer can make anywhere
from $44,000 a year to 99,000 per year (Building Engineer, 2015). Usually a typical day of a carpenter
consists of building the design. An architect it consist of making sure the building is safe. On a daily
bases architects discuss budget and requirements, draw plans, and make necessary changes (Building a
careerin Architecture, n.d.). The skills needed for both an architect and carpenter is good math skills
and also knowing how to work with fractions. An architect needs a least a college degree, the longer
you go to collage the better job you will find (Building a Career in Architecture). A carpenter needs to

David Robert Gilmour Ross had been a financial advisor for over 20 years. He conducted a financial
investment service through a number of entities. Investors of the various entities under the business
made requests to release their securities to be paid out, which was only realised for some investors.
Consequently, the other investors filed complaints with the FMA about the default in payment.
Pursuant to complaints from the investors, the FMA moved to file an application under sections 137F
and 137G of the Financial Advisers Act 2008. On 2 November 2012, the FMA applied to the High
Court in Wellington seeking permission to appoint receivers to manage the business of David Ross
and his associated companies. The High Court issued an interim order to freeze the assets of David
Ross and the various companies under him as a result of the application. As a result of the serious
concern about dysfunction and adequacy of the management of the business , the FMA decided to
conduct an investigation of Ross s business and companies. Main concerns put forward included a
failure to make decisions, a failure to implement requests from investors for payment and
inadequacies of records. At the time of filing the application, preliminary data determined that Ross s
business involved approximately 900 investors and with an aggregate account balance crossing $430

The Crusades, starting in the eleventh century, were attempts by the Western Church to rid Europe of
the new formulated and invading Muslims. Many Crusades had transpired over the centuries,
including both a children s and peasant s crusade, in attempt to keep the new religious threat at bay.
Many popes, kings, and rulers spent a great deal of money, time, and effort into these wars, but many
ended up failing in their original purposes. However, much can be said about the success of these
crusades in light of these failures. With these successes that took place, is the spread of Christianity

In fact, it could be noted that Christians even feared that the Muslims would soon conquer all of
Europe unless they were stopped. Pope Urban s speech has been lost to history, but apparently, he told
his followers that the Eastern Church was falling, pilgrimages were being stopped, and churches were
being desecrated. As previously mentioned, the Eastern Church was falling to the Muslims. In fact,
many of the major eastern cities fell, including Antioch. The East and the West were still considered
one church at the time so the church believed that it should aid in the recapture of the cities.
During this time in church history, part of the religious actions of church goers was to partake in
visiting shrines and viewing relics. Some of the shrines included houses of certain saints, artifacts
from the apostles, but most importantly, the city of Jerusalem. Since Jerusalem was the place of Christ
s death and resurrection, many people would take pilgrimages to the city. In fact, soon, pilgrimages to
Jerusalem became a form of penance. However, Muslims eventually took control of the city, but they
still allowed the pilgrimages to continue. However, in the eleventh century, this reality soon stopped
which cause Christians to not have the ability to travel to the city. In order to have one of the most
important shrines of the faith restored, it would have to be taken by force.
In order for the pope to gain more people to rescue Jerusalem, he

Exchange Rate
The exchange rate is the price of a nation s currency in terms of another currency. The domestic
currency and the foreign currency are the two components of an exchange rate. In a direct quotation,
the price of the foreign currency is expressed in terms of the domestic currency and the vise versa is
the indirect currency. Most exchange rates use the US dollar as their base currency and other

Man Is The Real Man Essay
As we may know from our school lessons in Biology, the human brain is mostly dormant we use only
a tiny fraction of its potential. Although scientists know much more now about the workings of the
human brain than they did 30 years ago, there are still vast areas of brain that have remained
unexplored and still mysterious. And the reason for this is that those silent areas of the brain were
created for supernatural purposes.
The gifts inherent in these parts of the brain were almost certainly used by a lot of Ancient mystics,
prophets, sages and wisemen and women as they could directly communicate with the Deities of the
Old and even understand the language of other creatures such as animals, plants and even faefolks.

profoundly affect his body s well being. The great physician surgeon and Nobel prize winner, Dr.

Said Dr. Carrell:
Man, as known to the specialists, is far from being the concrete man, the real man. He is nothing but a

meaning of natural behavior may differ. In a modern society, I would say that unnatural behaviors are
those that target the life of another human in any form. In other words, behaviors like murder, terrorist
arrangements, child abuse, etc are done in order to place another life at risk of survival. For example,
the concept of cannibalism is thought to be immoral as it risks the safety and survival of human beings

In order to have morals an individual must have specific aspects in their human nature. For example, it
is immoral to kill others; hence, it must be human nature to avoid murder. But, why do we have crimes
and such a high murder rate. Furthermore, it depends on each person. If it is in your human nature to
be a good person and help others, then your morality is related to your human nature. Good morals
enables humans to shape their personality and to an extent predict their future endearments. For
example, as we grow older we know to talk with manners, to be respectable, and listen when someone
else is talking. Furthermore, we grow more and learn to not cheat and to be kind to elders and young
children. These are morals we learn to abide to, but also become human nature. Whereas, if an
individual has an evil, harmful human nature, then their morality is also related to that and those are
the people that hurt and kill others.
Therefore, yes we need to know about human beings in order to know how to treat them morally.
These two concepts of human nature and morality are related and cannot be discusses

was noted 2% of the waiting list group had lost the PTSD diagnoses. Only a year after this
investigation Bryant, Moulds, Guthrie, Dang Nixon, (2003) restructured the experiment comparing
exposure alone, exposure plus cognitive restructuring, and supportive counselling in civilians with
PTSD resulting from various traumatic events. At this particular follow up 65 80% of participants who
either completed either form of CBT were now clear of PTSD diagnosis, compared to less than 40%
of those who completed supportive counselling.

Not only does she need to care for herself she has demonstrated that she is impatient and very hot
tempered, a personality unfit to taking care of someone with Autism.
In accordance with the fact that Judy needs to care for herself and her personality does not allow her to
be a good guardian, Judy runs away from her problems instead of facing them. Judy has been absent
from Christopher s life, because she found caring for him to be too difficult, and so she left with Mr.
Shears, leaving Christopher s father to tell him she had died, Mother died two weeks later... (26). Even
though she is not really dead, she is dead to Christopher for years, and he is left with no mother. She
does so again when things with Mr. Shears become too tough, she runs away without telling him, We
are going back to Swindon because if we stay in London any longer... (208) This is the portion of the
book where Christopher s mother tells Christopher that they are leaving London and going back to
Swindon, as she is appalled by Mr. Shears behavior and interaction with Christopher, as well as she no
longer desires to be with him. Instead of facing him, she packs up their stuff, takes his car and leaves.
Thus her inability to face her problems makes her irresponsible and unpredictable.
While Ed also has his liabilities, he is a much more suitable guardian for Christopher. Ed is
responsible which in turn makes him much more patient

Should Biofuel Be Allowed In Australia
A scientific research that has been undertaken in CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific Industrial
Research Organisation) and will be the greatest benefit for the society as well as the environment is
biofuel. Biofuel is a liquid fuel that has been derived from other materials such as waste plants and
animal matter; the most commonly extracted type of biofuel is ethanol and biodiesel. As oil supplies
have gone down rapidly, demands for renewable alternatives have become very important. Biofuel
will have a greater impact on our transport future as it is an alternative fossil fuelled based petroleum,
meaning that it will be more sustainable and much more essential as oil supplies decline and is
necessary to in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Biofuel is a scientific research that will
significantly benefit Australian environment as well as Australian society. As biofuel is a renewable

An advantage biofuel has which will benefit the society is it s cost benefit. The current cost of biofuel
is approximately the same amount for gasoline, however the overall benefits of using biofuel is much
higher. Biofuels are cleaner fuels meaning that they produce fewer emissions when burning. The
biofuel industry is expected to fuel economic development in poor rural countries, allowing these 3rd
world countries to develop with more economic stability as it also creates room for employment. Also,
biofuel will also increase the demand for suitable biofuel crops, which enables economic stimulation
in the agriculture industry particularly in rural countries.
Hence, biofuel is a recent scientific research undertaken in Australia and will be the greatest benefit

The Inferno By Dante And The Allegory Of The Cave
The significance and connotation of light seems to be driven by its relation to truth. Truth is some
thing that has been debated since the beginning of human thought. Even in western philosophy alone,
the meaning of light has changed, creating a one to question the sole symbol light can act as. Plato s
argument equates truth to light, while Dante s argument equates God to light. Dante argues that the
light is guiding, rather than definite. Through these two examples, I will show that light symbolizing
the equivalent of truth or searching for truth yields problems. To support my claim, I will look at The
Inferno by Dante and The Allegory of the Cave by Plato, whose interpretations of light appear to work
well with one another. First, I will analyze the significance of in a non religious context. Second, I will
analyze the significance of in a religious context. Thirdly, I will show why this metaphor of light yield
problems for the viewer of light.
In Plato s Allegory of the Cave, light represents a definitive truth. After seeing the form of the good ,
in the physical world, light is produced, paralleling, in the mental world, truth and understanding is
produced (Plato 211). Since seeing the light is only obtained seeing the Truth, Plato regards light as an
end rather than a means to find a higher truth. This light in The Allegory of the Cave prevents humans
from behaving awkwardly and appearing completely ridiculous (Plato 211). Plato argues that the light
destroys

The Film Moonlight Film Analysis
This is a criticism of Moonlight, a film directed by Barry Jenkins. It is a coming of age story, telling
the journey of a young gay black man named Chiron. Through linear character development the film
follows a young Chiron from adolescence into adulthood while growing up with alpha males in
Miamis black ghettos. The Story is told in three parts, with a different actor playing the lead role in
each section: a young Chiron named Little , as a teen named Chiron , and an adult named Black .
Despite a compelling lead performance by Mahershala Ali and Naomie Harris, and its great
soundtrack, Moonlight falls flat and never gets out of the shadow of its typical cliche plot, all the
while, the film continued to never overcome the obstacle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Part Two Chiron fast forwards to Chiron, now a high school student, still continuing to be bullied by
his peers, who now more than ever suspect him to be gay. Nothing much has changed, he is still very
coiled up and scrawny framed. Chiron and Kevin have continued to stay friends through out the years,
but in the middle of the scene, there friendship takes a different turn. One night on the beach Kevin
and Chiron share and intimate moment, Chiron s first and only homosexual encounter with a man. Not
long after Kevin is pressured by the high schools bully Terrel, to attack Chiron. It makes no sense, as
to why Kevin would do such a thing after an intense, intimate moment the two had just previously
shared. This act is another reminder to Chiron that he cannot trust anyone, especially after the
complete betrayal that Kevin has shown in front of countless other students. Chiron and Kevin shared
an emotional connection that he has never experienced before. The scene ends as, Chiron walks in to
class, as per usual does not say one word, and slams Terrel in the back of the head with a chair and is
taken to Juvenile Detention. This is a defining moment as we see Chiron standing up for him self.
However, it leaves the audience wanting more. Now as part two comes to a conclusion we see that
Chiron had the opportunity to become his own and live up to his true identity. Yet, Not much has
changed, but Because he was denied this as a young boy, as a teenager he still is

Analysis Of Nietzsche s Full Fathom Five
Jackson Pollock s painting titled Full Fathom Five reveals black and silver splatters of paint that aren t
necessarily straight. His painting includes colors such as blue, black, white and even specks of orange.
In addition, there are no figures which can be easily deciphered and the paint seems to have been
spilled all over the canvas. Thus, the painting does not display calculation or a lot of logic. Instead, his
creation seems to thrive off creativity and disorder. So I ask, how do we make sense of such an
unreasonable painting?
The answer can be found within the philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche introduces
to readers both the Apollonian force and the Dionysian force is his book The Birth of Tragedy. To be
specific, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under such an intoxicating force, Pollock did not think to create symmetrical lines or clear cut images.
We see this throughout the contrasting paint splatters on the canvas. This intoxicating force also
influences his artistic vision. For example, in Full Fathom five Pollock frees himself of the rules a
figurative painter, or Apollonian artist, would follow. An Apollonian artist following the rules of the
force of the line and image would include symmetry and/or logic in their artwork. These rules also
include creating distinguishable figures for people to view. The idea that an Apollonian artist would
create clear images is presented when Nietzsche tells reader to ...imagine how, through Apollonian
dream inspiration, his own state, i.e., his oneness with the inmost ground of the world, is revealed to
him in a symbolical dream image (Cahn and Meskin 224). In this quote, Nietzsche refers to the
Apollonian artist as an artist who sees the world in symbolical images and then goes on to create them.
Likewise, the Apollonian artist creates works of images and does not give us any sense of intoxication
or ambiguity. In this way, Nietzsche would say that Pollock unleashed himself from any boundaries
given to an artist following the Apollonian rules of art. The outcome of this dissociation is a Dionysian
influenced painting displaying expressive paint splatters placed in unique patterns.

Why The Driverless Cars Are The Future Of Travel
There has been much controversy over the claim that driverless cars are the future of travel. Many
people are uncertain of the new advances in the technology. This is why the idea that we could
possibly one day be riding in self driving with the assurance that everything is under control is
amazing (Weber.) In recent years developments have been underway to make driverless a reality, but
there are still many obstacles to try and overcome. The invention of anti lock brakes to cruise control
has greatly relieved the stress of driving for many travelers ( How a Driverless Car Will Benefit You. )
The progress of technology in modern times has greatly aided drivers. The stability of automobiles has

Post World War II American Society
Post World War II American Society American had been isolationist in keeping the affairs to itself.
When the policy of Good Samaritan did not work out as America failed to keep the harmony between
Europe countries, it became substantial that external concerns are devastating. Any idea of movement
to stop the tyranny in Europe was even opposed strongly as a retaliation response to the failure.
Nonetheless, the long tradition of isolationism finally ended when the World War II disrupted. The
relinquishment of isolationism can be marked down by the popularity of Henry Luce, around February
1941, who was the founder and editor of Life and Time magazine. As an ardent enthusiast of the
intervention in Europe against Hitler, Luce fancied the idea that America has had the most prowess
compared to other countries and made it a point that the responsibility to that power should began to
be shouldered by America. However he anticipated that they, Americans, should employ their
influence on the world: he advised that the US to be a force of good. Global free enterprising, feeding
and clothing the world, and spreading the archetypes of egalitarianism, equality, autonomy and
fairness were what he believed should be insured by America to other countries. Luce also wrote to his
readers that as America was still an isolationist, the influence of American culture was not bound to
only their continent but to the whole world such as American jazz, movies, music and products. This
condition

Ethics, Morality, And Morality
Ethics and morality may initially seem to be interchangeable words used to describe a code of conduct
that society should follow in order to make informed decisions. However, they are in fact two separate
entities that exist as individual codes of conduct, yet share a symbiotic relationship in decision
making. Ethics can be described as the rules of behavior and demeanor as established by society, a
certain sociological group of people, or a religion. Consequently, due to the nature of ethics, they can
ultimately be viewed as a governing body. This body is recognized by some larger institution greater
than oneself, one that someone is obligated to follow as determined by their religion, race, or creed.
On the other hand, morality is an internal trait that is, in due course, solely created by the individual.
People may recognize ethics as virtues set by their society or creed, whereas morality regards people
determining whether the ethics in their everyday experiences adhere to individual principles and
conduct. With this prevalent symbiotic relationship between ethics and morality, one can recognize the
vital role that ethics and morality partake in when it comes to decision making. As a result of this
relationship, these two qualities become important in areas of operation, such as business, where
decisions are often made by one individual for the sake of the greater whole. This approach, also
known as utilitarianism, can often lead to questionable ethical and moral

Attachment, The Key Factor That Promote The Attachment Essay
This essay will explain the definition of attachment, the key factor that promote the attachment and
discuss the theory of attachment, including deprivation and privation. Attachment is an emotional and
affectional tie or bonds that one person or animal forms between himself and another specific one.
Children`s attachment is mostly based on the children`s sensitivity and understanding of the mother`s
honesty in providing comfort, support and security. In addition, behaviours of the child that build up
attachment and give the opportunity for showing contact between mother and child can include
breastfeeding, which means relaxing the baby and independent, co sleeping, kangaroo care, smelly
mother, talking, and smiling to baby, physical touching and hugging, and playing with baby. (Simply
Psychology) The important attachment factor is oxytocin between mother and baby. The nipple
stimulation that happens when baby causes a hormone called oxytocin to be free in the mother, which
in turns trigger milk let down. The oxytocin makes mother to become intimate with her newborn baby
and makes them to attach to each other. Babies can similarly imprint on their mother, deriving feelings
of peace and pain reduction along with mother. Similarly, Freud believed that baby s instinctive needs
such as food and security are pleases by mother, who then becomes desire in her own right.
Behaviourists also see babies as becoming attached to those who satisfy their needs. However,
caregivers act as

Modern Day Walls

it all. Walls are inanimate objects, yet they have the ability to watch life flourish or deteriorate around

remain on the sidelines as a bystander to life s constant change. Additionally, they were able to witness
religion, community, and civil rights unfold into modern day headlines. Walls have eyes with the
ability to see all; they are the only visible structure that has witnessed humanity s day to day life

Militarism In Ww1
War World War I (WWI). Words that bring back some horrid memories of an unpleasant time. The
War of 1914 1919, fought with tanks, airplanes, trenches, machine guns and more. Fought in forms of
Alliances such as the Triple Entente, including France, Russia, and Great Britain. Also the Triple
Alliance, which includes, Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy. Fought in the countries of France,
Italy, Russia and Turkey. The Great War, caused by many events such as imperialism and alliances,
but militarism out of all was the underlying (main) cause to the start of one of the bloodiest wars. To
begin, imperialism plays a key role in the start of, WWI. Imperialism is the practice to extend power,

Militarism was the belief or desire of a government or the people should maintain a strong military
and ready to use it when needed and aggressively to defend or promote national interests. Building up
your army can be a major set of to other countries, making them feel as if they are about to get
attacked. Also other countries would want to have more power than the others so they would have a
competition that could lead to war. For example, evidence shows in a chart by Richard Overy, in 1999,
all the countries were building up their armies and navy and spending lots of money on them. This can
cause war because if the other countries saw that another country has a good military they wouldn t
want to be unprepared and they start building up their army and then all hell breaks loose. Another
example written in, The Hammer or the Anvil , by Bernhard von Bulow; he writes, There is no welfare
for us without power, without a strong army and a strong fleet. (Bulow 1). This shows to readers that
they were readying themselves for some kind of war. This shows to readers that militarism is
obviously the underlying cause for WWI, because without a military there would be no

  • 2. Soil Pollution Involving The Accumulation Of Excess Heavy... Soil pollution involving the accumulation of excess heavy metals is toxic to humans and other mammalian life.1 The effect on animals can ac cumulate in the food chains and instigate public health concerns in the future. Normally, the exposure due to food chain transfer is chronic, however, there are rare acute cases where direct ingestion of such pollutants is poisonous.2 Given the importance of the situation, the determination of toxic heavy metals in the environment is essential. The primary source of soil pollution can be at tributed to the history of industrial/commercial activi ties in certain areas.4 We have chosen to analyze the soil at Northwestern University to highlight human factors and contributions to this pollution. Given the history of the Northwestern, there are many areas of the campus that differ in properties such as the age of buildings, the proximity to bodies of water, areas of construction, and high traffic. For use in our study, the campus was divided into areas A, B, C, D, E, F (Figure 1). Since Northwestern has been regularly undergoing construction in the past century, we pre dicted that the areas with older buildings would have different metal concentrations when compared with areas with more recent architecture. Due to the use of lead based paint in old construction, we expect that there should be a higher concentration of metals such as lead found near older buildings such as University Hall or Locy Hall in area E in comparison to area F with ... • 3. Tom Sawyer Quotes And Analysis The Adventures of Tom Sawyer all started with a an adventurous and ignorant young boy. He sneaks out the house one night with one of his friends, leaving them hiding in a graveyard and witnessing the murder of Dr. Robinson. Things go downhill from there, leaving Muff Potter to be falsely convicted of the Murder due to the lying words of Injun Joe, Robinson s real murderer. Once Tom returns from a risky pirate trip, Tom begins to search for hidden treasure, which ultimately leads to a rundown with vengeful Injun Joe. Mark Twain, author of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, has cultivated Tom into someone who takes one too many risks without weighing the consequences or rewards against the risk itself. But what motivates Tom to do such illogical things. Tom s motivation for his risks are on the account of friends and family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He knows sneaking out is dangerous and he knows Huckleberry Finn is not most trustworthy. This is shown when Tom says, Huckleberry was cordially hated by the mothers of the town, because he was idle and lawless and vulgar and bad. (pg.39) The people in the town disliked Huckleberry and Tom knew that. Even the school teachers furiously punish him once they found out that he had done such small thing as have a conversation with him. Tom knew about the risk, but he took the chance anyway for such a small reward as removing warts or his hands and making friends with the well known Huckleberry Finn. His risk does not pay off, as he ended up witnessing Dr. Robinson s murder, and ending up in a tight spot with Injun Joe. But it is clear that friendship is a high priority on Tom s ... • 4. Canon Essay Good morning fellow English enthusiasts. I would firstly like to thank you the opportunity talk to you about the importance and the value of the canon in our school systems. The literary canon is a controversial topic between english scholars and it has been debated as to whether or not it is important to continue teaching the canon to students. The canon is quintessential to the school program and will forever be the what makes Literature special. The canon is the be all end all of english texts, in its most simple form the canon is a list of texts which is considered to be the best works of Literature in human history. However each person s opinion on what constitutes a literary text can differ from one person to another. For me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The selection for canonical texts is still controversial as there are many criteria required for selection into the canon such as use of language, imagery, it must stand the test of time, and reflects on the social views at the time the text was written. Literature and the canon is still important. What do we lose when we don t teach students about it? This is the question which I will answer for you here today. A range of educators including Emily Chiariello have debated that Literature is a waste of time and should not be taught, because of the difference between the language now and the language that was used when the texts were written this is what she means when they ask Is the instructional time spent struggling to understand classics archaic language worth it? Does this lead to teachers reading for students? in her article titled A Classic Debate . When she says this she ignores how the difference in language can highlight messages in the novel, as Literature is art. When Edgar Allen Poe wrote his poems there was a beauty to his words and the way sentences were formed, this only added to the deep meaning in his poems such as one quote from his poem The Premature Burial The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and ... • 5. Who Is Michelangelo Buonarroti A rare exhibit: 133 of Michelangelo Buonarroti s drawings in one place. Over one hundred masterpieces begging for attention, but one in particular caught my eye. A series of sketches of eyes, locks of hair, and a side portrait of a man. The description suggested it was the collaboration of Michelangelo and his pupils Antonio Mini and Andrea Quaratesi. In the bottom right hand corner of this drawing Michelangelo writes a message telling a frustrated student to have patience. This drawing spoke to me because it provides an understanding for Michelangelo s thought process. It illustrates the growth Michelangelo wanted to see not only within himself, but his pupils as well. These series of sketches show how much Michelangelo strove to understand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay about The Road to the American Civil War The majority of speculations regarding the causes of the American Civil War are in some relation to slavery. While slavery was a factor in the disagreements that led to the Civil War, it was not the solitary or primary cause. There were three other, larger causes that contributed more directly to the beginning of the secession of the southern states and, eventually, the start of the war. Those three causes included economic and social divergence amongst the North and South, state versus national rights, and the Supreme Court s ruling in the Dred Scott case. Each of these causes involved slavery in some way, but were not exclusively based upon slavery. The North and South were forming completely different economies, and therefore ... The transportation hubs and railroad systems existed more often in the North than in the South, because there were more large cities. Due to the North and South existing with completely diverse demographics, geographies, and economies they were unable to understand the needs of one another in reference to the continuation of their thriving economies. With the North becoming more urbanized and based on industry, its power was also growing. The bulk of politics, transportation, and industry all existed in the North. The South began forming an opinion that new political decisions were being made in the North s favor, and threatening the expansion of slavery, which threatened the expansion of their economic growth. This began with the formation of Henry Clay s Missouri Compromise of 1820, which let Missouri come into the Union as a slave state, and Maine would come in as a free state. This established a clear separation, at the southern border of Missouri, between the slave and free states, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Economic Chaos And Confusion Following The American... The combination of economic chaos and confusion following the American Revolution with the virtually nonexistent economic powers of the federal government under the Articles of Confederation put US in a very poor economic position upon the arrival of the Constitution (American Pageant 161). This, however, changed under the Constitution and thus during the administration of Washington as the federal government could now have a large say in the economics of America. After being put into office, Washington established a cabinet and assigned Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers, to be the Secretary of Treasury. Knowing that debt and the growing interest rates were a very large domestic problem, Hamilton set out to create a plan for a strong economy. He first implemented tariffs, which are taxes on foreign goods coming into the country, into his plan, hoping that it would stimulate manufacturing within the country (Chernow 163). Although this did succeed in stimulating industry within America, it also angered many Americans in the south and west because they did not manufacture many goods, but were rather mainly consumers and merchants who were those being taxed the most (Chernow 153). Another component of Hamilton s plan for economic aid was the federal assumption of state debt, which caused many mixed sentiments between the states. On one hand, the states that owed a large sum of money were very happy as they did not need to pay the debt anymore, at least to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Edgerton, p. 109) We see this correlate with the example of Television historian Horace Newcomb upbringing in a small town in Mississippi in the early 1950 s with the exposure of television. Newcomb recalled that, television intruded into his life at age nine and irreversibly altered his experience of what he terms his region ideology, racial attitudes, and localism. An average carpenter makes $40,500 per year (Carpenter Course and Educationand Training Requierments, n.d.). An architect makes a lot more than that. He conducted a financial investment service through a number of entities. Investors of the various entities under the business made requests to release their securities to be paid out, which was only realised for some investors. Consequently, the other investors filed complaints with the FMA about the default in payment. Pursuant to complaints from the investors, the FMA moved to file an application under sections 137F and 137G of the Financial Advisers Act 2008. On 2 November 2012, the FMA applied to the High Court in Wellington seeking permission to appoint receivers to manage the business of David Ross and his associated companies. As a result of the serious concern about dysfunction and adequacy of the management of the business , the FMA decided to conduct an investigation of Ross s business and companies. Main concerns put forward included a failure to make decisions, a failure to implement requests from investors for payment and inadequacies of records. Pope Urban s speech has been lost to history, but apparently, he told his followers that the Eastern Church was falling, pilgrimages were being stopped, and churches were being desecrated. As previously mentioned, the Eastern Church was falling to the Muslims. In fact, many of the major eastern cities fell, including Antioch. The East and the West were still considered one church at the time so the church believed that it should aid in the recapture of the cities. During this time in church history, part of the religious actions of church goers was to partake in visiting shrines and viewing relics. Some of the shrines included houses of certain saints, artifacts from the apostles, but most importantly, the city of Jerusalem. Since Jerusalem was the place of Christ s death and resurrection, many people would take pilgrimages to the city. In fact, soon, pilgrimages to Jerusalem became a form of penance. However, Muslims eventually took control of the city, but they still allowed the pilgrimages to continue. However, in the eleventh century, this reality soon stopped which cause Christians to not have the ability to travel to the city. This means both manufactures profit $5,000 on each automobile which become 600,000 yen. Exchange Is At 120 Yen/Dollar In a different scenario where the yen is 100 yen/dollar. Company A still has cost of 1.2 million yen, because the yen is stronger it will cost company A $12,000 in terms of dollar to produce automobiles. Company B still produces automobiles for $10,000 per automobile, company B is not impacted by the exchange rate. If automobiles still sell at $15,000, Company A profits $3,000 per automobile , 300,000 yen and company B still profits $5,000 per automobile, 500,000 yen. Although scientists know much more now about the workings of the human brain than they did 30 years ago, there are still vast areas of brain that have remained unexplored and still mysterious. And the reason for this is that those silent areas of the brain were created for supernatural purposes. The gifts inherent in these parts of the brain were almost certainly used by a lot of Ancient mystics, prophets, sages and wisemen and women as they could directly communicate with the Deities of the Old and even understand the language of other creatures such as animals, plants and even faefolks. Depending on different cultures or even different regions of the world, the meaning of natural behavior may differ. In a modern society, I would say that unnatural behaviors are those that target the life of another human in any form. In other words, behaviors like murder, terrorist arrangements, child abuse, etc are done in order to place another life at risk of survival. In order to have morals an individual must have specific aspects in their human nature. For example, it is immoral to kill others; hence, it must be human nature to avoid murder. But, why do we have crimes and such a high murder rate. Furthermore, it depends on each person. If it is in your human nature to be a good person and help others, then your morality is related to your human nature. Good morals enables humans to shape their personality and to an extent predict their future endearments. For example, as we grow older we know to talk with manners, to be respectable, and listen when someone else is talking. Furthermore, we grow more and learn to not cheat and to be kind to elders and young children. These are morals we learn to abide to, but also become human nature. Whereas, if an individual has an evil, harmful human nature, then their morality is also related to that and those are the people that hurt and kill others. • 23. The Inferno By Dante And The Allegory Of The Cave The significance and connotation of light seems to be driven by its relation to truth. Truth is some thing that has been debated since the beginning of human thought. Even in western philosophy alone, the meaning of light has changed, creating a one to question the sole symbol light can act as. Plato s argument equates truth to light, while Dante s argument equates God to light. Dante argues that the light is guiding, rather than definite. Through these two examples, I will show that light symbolizing the equivalent of truth or searching for truth yields problems. To support my claim, I will look at The Inferno by Dante and The Allegory of the Cave by Plato, whose interpretations of light appear to work well with one another. First, I will analyze the significance of in a non religious context. Second, I will analyze the significance of in a religious context. Thirdly, I will show why this metaphor of light yield problems for the viewer of light. In Plato s Allegory of the Cave, light represents a definitive truth. After seeing the form of the good , in the physical world, light is produced, paralleling, in the mental world, truth and understanding is produced (Plato 211). Since seeing the light is only obtained seeing the Truth, Plato regards light as an end rather than a means to find a higher truth. • 26. Analysis Of Nietzsche s Full Fathom Five Jackson Pollock s painting titled Full Fathom Five reveals black and silver splatters of paint that aren t necessarily straight. His painting includes colors such as blue, black, white and even specks of orange. In addition, there are no figures which can be easily deciphered and the paint seems to have been spilled all over the canvas. Thus, the painting does not display calculation or a lot of logic. Instead, his creation seems to thrive off creativity and disorder. So I ask, how do we make sense of such an unreasonable painting? The answer can be found within the philosophical ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche. Nietzsche introduces to readers both the Apollonian force and the Dionysian force is his book The Birth of Tragedy. To be specific, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under such an intoxicating force, Pollock did not think to create symmetrical lines or clear cut images. We see this throughout the contrasting paint splatters on the canvas. This intoxicating force also influences his artistic vision. For example, in Full Fathom five Pollock frees himself of the rules a figurative painter, or Apollonian artist, would follow. An Apollonian artist following the rules of the force of the line and image would include symmetry and/or logic in their artwork. These rules also include creating distinguishable figures for people to view. The idea that an Apollonian artist would create clear images is presented when Nietzsche tells reader to ...imagine how, through Apollonian dream inspiration, his own state, i.e., his oneness with the inmost ground of the world, is revealed to him in a symbolical dream image (Cahn and Meskin 224). In this quote, Nietzsche refers to the Apollonian artist as an artist who sees the world in symbolical images and then goes on to create them. Likewise, the Apollonian artist creates works of images and does not give us any sense of intoxication or ambiguity. In this way, Nietzsche would say that Pollock unleashed himself from any boundaries given to an artist following the Apollonian rules of art. The outcome of this dissociation is a Dionysian influenced painting displaying expressive paint splatters placed in unique patterns. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Post World War II American Society Post World War II American Society American had been isolationist in keeping the affairs to itself. When the policy of Good Samaritan did not work out as America failed to keep the harmony between Europe countries, it became substantial that external concerns are devastating. Any idea of movement to stop the tyranny in Europe was even opposed strongly as a retaliation response to the failure. Nonetheless, the long tradition of isolationism finally ended when the World War II disrupted. The relinquishment of isolationism can be marked down by the popularity of Henry Luce, around February 1941, who was the founder and editor of Life and Time magazine. As an ardent enthusiast of the intervention in Europe against Hitler, Luce fancied the idea that America has had the most prowess compared to other countries and made it a point that the responsibility to that power should began to be shouldered by America. However he anticipated that they, Americans, should employ their influence on the world: he advised that the US to be a force of good. Global free enterprising, feeding and clothing the world, and spreading the archetypes of egalitarianism, equality, autonomy and fairness were what he believed should be insured by America to other countries. Luce also wrote to his readers that as America was still an isolationist, the influence of American culture was not bound to only their continent but to the whole world such as American jazz, movies, music and products. • 30. Ethics, Morality, And Morality Ethics and morality may initially seem to be interchangeable words used to describe a code of conduct that society should follow in order to make informed decisions. However, they are in fact two separate entities that exist as individual codes of conduct, yet share a symbiotic relationship in decision making. Ethics can be described as the rules of behavior and demeanor as established by society, a certain sociological group of people, or a religion. Consequently, due to the nature of ethics, they can ultimately be viewed as a governing body. This body is recognized by some larger institution greater than oneself, one that someone is obligated to follow as determined by their religion, race, or creed. On the other hand, morality is an internal trait that is, in due course, solely created by the individual. People may recognize ethics as virtues set by their society or creed, whereas morality regards people determining whether the ethics in their everyday experiences adhere to individual principles and conduct. With this prevalent symbiotic relationship between ethics and morality, one can recognize the vital role that ethics and morality partake in when it comes to decision making. As a result of this relationship, these two qualities become important in areas of operation, such as business, where decisions are often made by one individual for the sake of the greater whole. This approach, also known as utilitarianism, can often lead to questionable ethical and moral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Attachment, The Key Factor That Promote The Attachment Essay This essay will explain the definition of attachment, the key factor that promote the attachment and discuss the theory of attachment, including deprivation and privation. Attachment is an emotional and affectional tie or bonds that one person or animal forms between himself and another specific one. Children`s attachment is mostly based on the children`s sensitivity and understanding of the mother`s honesty in providing comfort, support and security. In addition, behaviours of the child that build up attachment and give the opportunity for showing contact between mother and child can include breastfeeding, which means relaxing the baby and independent, co sleeping, kangaroo care, smelly mother, talking, and smiling to baby, physical touching and hugging, and playing with baby. (Simply Psychology) The important attachment factor is oxytocin between mother and baby. The nipple stimulation that happens when baby causes a hormone called oxytocin to be free in the mother, which in turns trigger milk let down. The oxytocin makes mother to become intimate with her newborn baby and makes them to attach to each other. Babies can similarly imprint on their mother, deriving feelings of peace and pain reduction along with mother.
