expenses have gone down. In 2013 the expense was over 300k. 2014 and 2015 were much smaller

the office and equipment and staying up to date with technology.
A steady increase in the investments is an advantage as the future contributions may not be
sustainable. Economy or disasters could impact donations. Earnings from the investments will help

3. Reflective Essay Writing
The ability to write is a creative thing, so unique much like a fingerprint. The way someone decides to
choose their words and organize their sentences is something is solely based on their preference. From
English 105 with Segall, one obtains plenty of valuable knowledge that Will be used throughout their
college career. In the beginning, my writing was seen as immature and fresh from high school. Going
forth into a college setting was intimidating, and immediately showed that my writing skills needed
improvement. Spending countless hours on what I thought was a great piece of writing, I submitted
my rough draft of paper #1. Being told by Professor Segall that I need to do a ground up revision took
a toll on my confidence as a writer. I was uncertain of what exactly he was looking for and forced me
to reevaluate my whole thought process. Even though, that was hard to hear, I am glad I was told to do
so. My writing changed completely into something more sophisticated that also improved my fluency.
I did receive a grade that was average, but that grade was the starting point to continue to progress my
writing in his class. My second paper for his class was an argument, which I chose to write about the

4. The Entrapment Model Of An Abusive Relationship
ENTRAPMENT MODEL The entrapment model suggests that staying in an abusive relationship is a
way to justify past effort and time devoted to the relationship (Strube, 1988). The investment model
challenges that the more time, effort, money, emotion, etc. invested into a relationship the longer one
devotes to staying in the relationship even when intimate partner violence is frequent. The hypotheses
were that women more subjectively invested in baseline data would be especially likely to engage in
relationship sacrifices following Intimate Partner Violence. These findings were not supported by the
results. The second hypotheses were that women in the long term dating relationship were more likely
to engage in relationship sacrifices following Intimate Partner Violence. This proved to be accurate.
Researchers suggest that the results may not be generalized to the general population because of the
lack of ethnicity and the small severity of abuse occurring.

5. Impact Of The Great Leap Forward Movement
The Great Leap Forward Movement of the People s Republic of China was an economic and social
programme carried out by the Communist Party of China from 1958 to 1961. The movement was led
by Mao Zedong, and aimed to rapidly transform the country from an agrarian economy into a
communist society by means of accelerated industrialization and collectivization. Before the
occurrence of the movement, China had been suffering from foreign invasions, civil wars, unequal
treaties and political disorder, which left the Chinese Communist Party with a backward economy; one
that was unable to sustain itself. In addition to this, the widely applied political and military ideology
of Maoism, established by Mao Zedong and the Communist Party of China, claimed that instead of
the peasants being a revolutionary class, hand in hand with their industrial working comrades , they
were the revolutionary class. This belief system contributed to the lack of poor planning by the
Chinese government as many of their decisions were based on this belief of empowering the peasants

After exchanging their early morning greetings, the two turned their attention to the object on the

7. War Is Kind
Research Paper Rough Draft Statistics show that over 1000 people were killed in the U.S. by police in
2015, and at least 441 people have been killed so far this year alone. If we continue with this trend, the
numbers will keep growing each year. If the police force was created to protect citizens, why are
people living in constant fear of being killed every day? The police force, much like war, is often
glorified in the media, when in reality it does more bad for society than good. Stephen Crane used his
experiences in the war to write War Is Kind , and he gave America a perspective that many hadn t

Since the global financial downturn in late 2008, retailing has since delivered negative growth.
Employment within the sector, the second largest single employer within Australia , also fell by 6% in
2009. Fashion retailers are continually at the mercy of consumer spending especially during economic
downturns. In fact, the fashion industry in 2009 delivered a negative sales turnover of 1.9%. Not
surprisingly, department store sales also plummeted to 3.5%.
Generally speaking, with the current climate lacking economic stimulus coupled with higher interest
rates and media reports generating signs of an economic recovery, analysts are predicting that
eventually the retail trade sector will gradually resurface into positive territory. Customers will be
more pragmatic and cautious about the future which will yield new patterns of behavior and

10. I Got Trapped By My Own Success Essay
Alexander Weygers lived a life of creative adventure on an income so low it never interested the
Internal Revenue Service. He continually complained that man s essential failure was to know when
enough was enough, and he used the line at which he would need to write a check to the IRS as his
definition of enough. There was one occasion, though, when he flirted with that line. I got trapped by
my own success, he said. Weygers dalliance with the tax man came in the late 1950s when he traded a
piece of sculpture for an Exacta single lens camera. It was a particularly cold winter on the Monterey
Peninsula. Toward the conclusion of a trip to a junkyard in Salinas, heavy sleet began to fall. As he
waited in the bed of his truck for the storm to pass, Weygers picked up the camera that happened to be
beside him and began taking super close up photos of the raindrops on the windshield. The clouds
eventually parted and rays of light pierced the droplets, causing a refraction in his lens. Weygers
hurried home and began playing with light refractions on leaves and frozen over chuckholes. He then
raced to the beach, taking similar zoomed in shots of a piece of seaweed and an ant colony. The result
was a never before seen, free form photography or artography, as Weygers termed it. In his studio, he
would suspend drops of water from the bottom side of a sheet of glass. Then, using a macro lens he
created himself, Weygers would look into the inside of the raindrop and

(Class Information):

The ideals by the Republicans which came into the limelight after the Revolutionary War would set
into motion a revolution not just in the United States but in many countries across the world. Linda
Kerber s Women of the Republic is a demonstration of the paradigm shift in relation to the US social
and political structures after the American Revolution. Kerber observes that not only did the war
provide more opportunities to women but also set a platform for women to chart the way forward
politically. This important role is what came later to be known as the Republican Motherhood. The
concept of Republican Motherhood demonstrates the important role that woken played politically in
addition to attending to their traditional roles of domestic responsibility.
Women of the Republic demonstrates the expanded role of women politically amidst the rising
influence of their male counterparts in civic responsibility. Kerber states that the American Revolution
provided a platform for women to express themselves away from ideological ferment that was
premised on the confines of a family set up. This situation might perhaps explain why there were few
women leaders during the period leading to the Revolution War. Kerber appears to place her concept
of the Republican Motherhood to the industrialisation era that was characterized by fathers working
away from their homes and leaving all the household

I should have ordered gram stain and culture of synovial fluid to rule out septic arthritis (Pujalte,
2015). Even though monosodium urate crystals are found, it is important to order gram staining and
culture of synovial fluid because gout and septic arthritis can coexist (Saccamano, 2015). It is less
likely to be rheumatoid arthritis because of negative RF factor, negative ANA, absence of joint
stiffness and symptoms are unilateral (Pujalte Albano Aluquin, 2015). Rheumatoid arthritis has a
symmetrical presentation. It could be cellulitis because of the presence of warm, tender, swollen and
tenderness in the left knee. Cellulitis can be both sudden or gradual (Baddour, 2015). Also, symptoms
worsen and erythema expand over the course of hours or day. Hence, gradual worsening of signs and
symptoms with the treatment of gout point towards cellulitis. It is not pseudogout because of the
absence of calcium pyrophosphate crystals and elevated uric acid level (Hainer et al., 2014). The
patient with pseudogout can have symptoms similar to gout and respond to NSAIDS (nonsteroidal anti
inflammatory drugs). I did not consider trauma as one of the differential diagnosis but, DXR

Many hair related problems like hair loss, rough and dull hair, split ends and breakage, arise due to
lack of proper hair care. But there are also illnesses and treatments that no product or treatment can
prevent hair loss during or after. Fortunately, there are things you can do to help prevent breakage, dry
and dull hair, and also as if you have had hair loss due to illness, there are ways to help your hair grow

â One of the first steps in hair care is your diet and the two most important things in your diet are iron
and protein. Hair cells are the fastest growing cells in the body, they are also the first ones to be
affected if you don t eat right. Hair is not required for our survival so with deficiencies, hair is the first

Ernest Hemingway did not write a happy, inspiring story. His story A Clean, Well Lighted Place uses a
famous code of behavior to dictate what his characters say and how they act. The story is depressing,
dreary, and distressing but it gets the philosophical premises across. He demonstrates to not make
trouble for other people, to contain one s despair and self pity by sheer will power, and to not judge
others and view the unenlightened with pity. Hemingway uses his story to propose that people should
not make trouble for other people.

does not force his despair onto others but keeps it inside. Using sheer will power to contain one s

suggests to not judge others and view the unenlightened with pity. The older waiter best portrays this
with his interactions with the younger waiter. They are discussing the difference between young and

The world was definitely looking better for Galileo at this time. On July 10, 1610 Galileo was

Galileo set out to Rome to put a stop to the accusations of him being anti religious. By 1616 Galileo

22. The Fraud Triangle Consists Of Three Different Parts
In life, there are many times someone sees an opportunity that can better a situation in their life.
Whether morally right or wrong some still take the action to better their life even if it can potentially
be considered fraud. People tend to find ways to look past their morals. These situations can be
something so small as not splitting the tips at your job evenly, fixing an old gambling debt, even
cheating on your taxes. Some even take it as far as creating a fake business to receive money from
people or steal money coming into an already existent company. These opportunities are everywhere
we look. There are not many people in the world who would give up an opportunity to better a
situation in their life. The question is just how far are they willing to go and for what are they
receiving in the end. Most of these situations, if not all can be analyzed through the fraud triangle. The
fraud triangle consists of three different parts. The first part would be the perceived financial need or
the pressure upon the person. This could be caused by the person situation where they may be in need,
or possibly someone in their life pushing them to do the act. It could also be something as simple as a
want that they feel they should go after no matter what it takes or the cost. This will lead into step two
of the fraud triangle which is perceived opportunity or, in other words, the opportunity to commit the
fraud. This is what they do to actually do the crime. How they go about

23. Abigail Adams Analysis
The author of this document is Abigail Adams, a white female that is married to John Adams. She
lives in a time where women have no form of representation, and they live in the shadow of men.
Because of this, Abigail takes up a woman s traditional role and performs activities such as
manufacture clothing for her family, soap making, creating gun/cannon powder for her husband, and
other chores for the benefit of her household (Adams, Paragraph 12). Fulfilling this role has shaped
her by securing her inferiority to her husband and other males. She as a woman lacks power both
socially and politically when it comes to the opposite gender; however, it is just this that has cultivated
her attitude towards her government, the male sex, and even her own spouse. By requesting that her
husband remember to give rights to women, it shows that she was brave enough to present her
opinions even though they were unwelcomed (Adams, Paragraph 9). She is headstrong in the sense
that she is willing to rebel if she does not receive the proper representation that she is asking for. Also,
by mentioning that the women would rebel, Abigail displays her intelligence because she could
foresee the inevitable future if women s rights were not improved (Adams, Paragraph 9). She sees the
world for what it is, unjust. Moreover, her social and political inferiority did not result in ignorance.
Based on her vocabulary, writing style, and comprehension/expression of such complex ideas, she

24. Important Symbols in Lord of the Flies by William Golding
In William Golding s novel Lord of the Flies, he uses unique elements to symbolize many concepts
throughout the story. The two most important but differing symbols used throughout the novel are the
Conch and Sow s head symbolically used by the author to demonstrate the transition of good to evil as
the darkness of savagery slowly begins to powerfully overtake the boys mental concept of their
civilian nature that they were born into. Both symbolically represent a certain importance and power
to the boys as they fight to maintain order and civility on the island while trying to contain control
over the group of young boys as they begin to abandon all ties to their once civilized life and mindset
that they once knew. Isolation and daily struggles to survive on the island lead to the transition to
killing and becoming more barbaric. The taste of killing and power becomes an overpowering
obsession that the boys cannot consciously control.
Lord of the Flies is a novel using different elements to show symbolism of different people in society
and their reactions when cut off from the world and left to survive on their own. The conch and sow s
head are used as power over the group of boys.
Jack Uses the conch to try and keep everyone working together, while Jack uses the sow s head to

ABSTRACT:
This experiment introduces us the pH measurement and application of macroscale titration of aqueous
solutions of acids and bases. The first part of the experiment was applying macroscale titration to
calculate the mass of an HCl solution consumed that was initially done by pounding the tablets and
getting a weight of 0.15 grams. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard solution is added to a solution of unknown concentration until all of the unknown
solution has reacted. From the known quantity and molarity (or normality) of the standard solution
and the measured volume of unknown solution used, the unknown concentration can be calculated.
Most acid base solutions are colorless and determining when one reactant has been totally consumed
is difficult by simple observations. To allow us to visually determine this point, we use compounds
called acid base indicators to tell us when a reaction is complete. Dyes (usually weak organic acids)
whose colors depend upon pH are often used to signal the completion of acid base reactions.
The objectives of this experiment are to:
Measure the PH of aqueous solutions of acids and bases.
Compare the PH values obtained by using PH meter and PH paper.
Calculate the percent acetic acid of a commercial sample of vinegar.

27. Biological Differences Between Men And Women Essay
Sex is defined as the average, reliable, biological differences between males and females (Auleb 1).
One biological difference between males and females is in external genitalia: males have penises
whereas females have vaginas. Sexuality refers to one s sexual orientation, sexual behaviors, and
capacity for sexual feelings (YourDictionary.com). Someone who is not sexually attracted to anyone
may identify themselves as asexual. And sexual identity is one s conception of themselves in terms of
to whom they are sexually and romantically attracted, if they experience sexual or romantic attraction
at all (Wikipedia.org). Someone who is attracted to people regardless of gender may identify as
bisexual, or as pansexual if they do not adhere to the belief that there are only two genders. One s
sexual behaviors and attitudes towards sex and sexuality may be governed by their values, of which
there are two types. Formal values are what one says they believe; informal values are what one
actually does (Auleb 3). If someone says that people should wait until marriage to have sex, that is
their formal values. If they abstain from sex until marriage, that is their informal value. Ideally, one s
formal values and informal values are in sync, for if they are not, one may find themselves in a
situation in which they are unready or unwilling to participate. One s values do not form in a vacuum
and are shaped by their society and culture. Family, religion, school, media, and personal

28. What Conditions Explain The Creation Of The Westphalia Treaty
Part 1) What conditions explain the creation of the Westphalia treaty in 1648?
The Westphalia treaty of 1648 which ended the Thirty Years War, can be described as one of the
prominent milestones that shaped the principle of state sovereignty. These treaties, both signed in the
western cities of current day MĂŒnster and OsnabrĂŒck, Germany. This paper will describe the
conditions that made it necessary for a co existing agreement in Europe at the time, which would later
become the basis of a state s self determination and existence. It will also include the implications that
the treaty had upon Europe, and the world today. The many political principles deriving from the
Westphalian treaty would become apparent in modern day society, whether embraced fully or used as
a stepping stone to considering other principles, it would influence the way that international law,
politics, and diplomacy would be determined. A state is defined as a legal entity with a permanent
population, a well defined territory, and a government capable of exercising sovereignty. The
definition becomes important during this time period of the signing of the Peace Treaty, and for the
overall international law for years to come.
Gregory Raymond s 2005 Westphalia excerpt describes the events and characteristics of the 1648
Westphalia Treaty by stating that, [U]nder the terms of the peace agreements, the power of the
Hapsburgs was weakened, with the Holy Roman Empire limited in its sphere of influence to

Since Ethanol has been introduced to American markets its use has risen. However, this change does
not just impact Ethanol production, but also the production and market of other areas that do not
directly impact Ethanol. While it is hard to pinpoint a change in market to a single thing, Ethanol has
an affect on other markets, such as High Fructose Corn Syrup. Ethanol not only has this affect on the

This is primarily because corn is cheaper and easier to produce and use. While this raise in Ethanol
has increased corn production and sales as a whole, it is possible it has lowered corn production for
food consumption across the states. Not only is corn used for human consumption, but it is also used
as a food for animals in factories and on farms. On top of this, corn is also used in a popular
sweetener, High Fructose Corn Syrup. If corn is being used more for Ethanol production, will
production for these categories decrease? One of the reasons it is difficult to identify Ethanol as the
cause of change in sales for each of these markets is because it is not the only variable affecting them.

Since ancient Roman senators hired financial advisers to lend out their money, people with wealth
have needed someone to manage it. High net worth individuals thus call upon wealth managers to help
them develop strategies of how to effectively manage their wealth. The term wealth management
started in 1933 and came into more use in the private client divisions of firms like Goldman Sachs and
Morgan Stanley. These firms formed divisions which were designed to deliver different services from
those offered to the mass market. Wealth managers provide clients with a wide range of services,
depending on the client s needs and the focus of the firm. Tax accounting: Financial advisors help
clients handle, complete and submit their taxes. Financial planning: Financial advisors provide advice
on how to reach future life and financial goals by providing information about investing, saving, taxes
and estate planning. Investing: Clients who want to invest seek the services of wealth managers for

36. The Reign Of The Carolingian Dynasty
Although the reign of the Carolingian dynasty occupied only a brief part of the entirety of the
medieval era, the Carolingian Empire that was established during that period made both a historical
and cultural impact on medieval society that would resonate for years to come. Until the empire fell in
888, the Carolingian House of the Franks initially brought stability and progress to most of Europe, as
well as pioneering a cultural and intellectual renaissance that influenced the remainder of the Middle
Ages. Although there were various Carolingian rulers who aided these advances, it is fair to say that
Carolingian developments reached their peak during the reign of Charlemagne, a leader and reformer
of the church who fully appreciated the importance of learning and education. Throughout his reign,
he established himself, as a ruler, and his empire as an example that subsequent Kings of the Middle
Ages would aim to obtain and uphold. In addition, Charlemagne created a cultural legacy that allowed
the empire to prosper and formed links between the medieval world and the ancient world. With this
in mind, this essay will principally explore the positive aspects of the Carolingian legacy and the ways
in which they were fundamental to the development of medieval society, focusing on the most
significant successes during the reign of Charlemagne. It will also briefly touch upon the role of other
Carolingian leaders as well as the societal impact of the eventual dissolution of the

Comparing John Stuart Mill s The Subjection of Women and Florence Nightingale s Cassandra
For thousands of years, women have struggled under the domination of men. In a great many societies
around the world, men hold the power and women have to fight for their roles as equals in these
patriarchal societies. Florence Nightingale wrote about such a society in her piece, Cassandra, and
John Stuart Mill wrote further on the subject in his essay The Subjection of Women. These two pieces

He feels that because women have been in this position for so many years, it would feel irregular to
deviate from it. The subjection of women to men being a universal custom, any departure from it quite
naturally appears unnatural (Mill 1157). As he continues, he reveals his thoughts on the matter to the
reader: this relic of the past is discordant with the future, and must necessarily disappear (Mill 1159).
Mill explores many aspects of the issue. He attempts to uncover the differences between the sexes to
provide maybe another solution to the problem, but to no avail, nothing final can be known (Mill
1162); nothing is as strongly stated as when he places the blame on custom. Later in his essay, while
exploring the systems of past societies, he comes to the same conclusion as earlier. Only this time, he
states that there has been some improvement in the system as time went by; however, equality has not
yet been reached. He believes that the small increase in power over time is enough to suggest that
equality is the solution: Through all...human history, the condition of women has been approaching
nearer to equality with men. This does not itself prove that the assimilation must go on to complete
equality; but it assuredly affords some presumption that such is the case (Mill 1160). This quote is yet

Education is such an important institution in the society that has a huge impact on the younger
generation. A well performing education system continuously requires the process of analyzing and
reforming. However, it still remains that not every country does the same to satisfy this process to
improve its educational system. As a consequence, some countries have better education systems than
others. In the present days, Japan is one of the countries that has the best education systems based on
the excellent scores their students get in international competitions in math, science, and reading.
American students achievement in these competitions is far behind Japanese students . The differences

The term whaling describes the inhumane hunting down and killing of whales. This happens on
expeditions that are carried out for the sole purpose of killing whales to collect their meat, oil, and

novaeangliae), the Right Whales (Eubalaena), the Minke whales (Baleanoptera) and the Fin Whale
(Balaenoptera physalus). Because of the major decline in the populations of these whales, a

The increase in the fishing industry could be due to any number of things such as the weather, the time
of year, or even the lack of a whale s presence. It does not suggest that the whales are consuming the
fish or that they are depleting important fish populations. Also, it has been proven that commercial
whaling does impact the whaling industries in pro whaling countries. If money is the end goal for
some of these countries they could just adopt the whale watching industry rather than commercial
whaling because in the end, due to conservation movements, it will probably be making more money.
If Japan wants to continue whaling under scientific research pretenses, then I m sure they can find
more humane and less invasive ways to collect data such as studying beached or already dead whales
rather than killing them, as well as taking samples from live whales using minimally invasive
techniques. Furthermore, in countries such as Norway who commercially whale specifically for the
