Tina Turner Inspiration
Physical strength in a woman that s what I am. Tina Turner once said this quote. With this quote
she showed that through all the struggles that she had been through, she was still able to sing and
dance happily. Tina Turner didn t start off with a great career for singing. She built her way up to
fame using her own techniques and with some help by Ike Turner. Tina Turner
was an inspiration to
others because of her way and ability of gathering fame, her passion for the songs that she sang,
and because of the fact even if her childhood wasn t exactly the best, she still became a wonderful
and strong woman.
Tina Turner (Anna Mae Bullock) was an inspiration to other woman wanting to achieve their goals

Tina s original name is Anna Mae Bullock and was born on November 26, 1939 in Brownsville,
Tennessee (THE IKE AND TINA TURNER REVUE ). Tina and her sister were abandoned by
their parents at an early age and so they went on with their grandparents, who raised them (Tina
Turner Biography). This shows that Tina starts off badly and like any other star, she started off
with not much. TIna had moved to St. Louis and would go to the Club Manhattan and that is
where her talent was noticed by a drummer of Kings of Rhythm when she was singing along to
their song while she was in the audience (THE IKE AND TINA TURNER REVUE). She started
off with singing duets with Ike Turner, who was at the moment in the Kings of Rhythm, and then
got recognized in the music industry, but later on goes onto her own solo music career (Tina

move on to a better place. This shows that Tina had the strength to go through tough problems and

The Slender Body By Greg Garber
Sacrifices of the Body In assessing the good life, intrinsic and extrinsic rewards are a vital
component of reaching it. Greg Garber s five part series on the life of Mike Webster, discusses
the sacrifices a football player must undertake in order to be successful. The dangers, both
mentally and physically that a football player faces weekly, are a part of the job that can have
lifelong consequences. One could easily find himself with permanent disabling injuries. Equally
dangerous are eating disorders, which Susan Bordo explains in the chapter, Reading the Slender
Body, from her book, Unbearable Weight: Feminism, Western Culture, and the Body. Social
pressures and expectations can play a significant role in how one views his or... Show more content

During the process, he ended up with many physical and mental aliments that adversely effected his
mobility and mindset later in life. According to Garber, by the end of his 17 year football career
ended, Webster sustained numerous injuries that included broken fingers, permanent damage to his
back along with his knees, right shoulder, and right heal. In addition, he suffered from severe head
trauma that caused continuous headaches (Blood and Guts). Obviously, he had the mental
fortitude, especially when he was younger, to endure the pain and suffering that accompany
physical injuries, but eventually the pain became unbearable, even for a man of his stature. Webster
s physical and mental aliments began to control him, which in turn affected his intrinsic happiness
that is a requirement to reach the good life. As external forces can severely affect one s inner
happiness, Webster s extrinsic encounters did not assist in providing him with a good life. From
failed business ventures, which culminated with seizing of his assets, to a failed coaching position
and an ill timed divorce (Man on the Moon). The worst extrinsic injustice Webster suffered was at
the hands of his former employer, the National Football League. Though the league did disburse
disability payments to him, it was five years after Webster retired (Sifting through the Ashes). With
the amount of injuries Webster sustained, the payments could have helped him immensely, which
in turn, could have

Summary Of Paul Revere
This is the tale of some of the greatest heroes of the American Revolution. The first hero is Paul
Revere. On April 19, 1775, he heard the news of what the British had planned. General Gage of
the British army was going to send troops to Lexington to capture Sam Adams and John
Hancock. Paul Revere knew he had to do something. He got on his horse and went on a midnight
ride threw the colonies. He yelled The British Regulars are coming! During his whole ride and
told people One if by land, two if by sea! Meaning that they should look at the lighthouse to see
how many lanterns are lit up. On the way to Lexington to save Sam Adams and John Hancock
he was stopped by British soldiers on horses. They asked him where he was going and he told
them he was going to warn the people of the regulars that were coming. They thought that their
army was too powerful and that it didn t matter if the colonists knew that they were coming. So,
they let him go. When he got to Lexington the Regulars weren t there yet. He found John
Hancock and Sam Adams and knocked on their door. Someone came down and asked what he
was doing there. He told them to pack their bags and get out of Lexington. After that he rode on.
He soon realized that he should go back and check on them so he doubled back and knocked on the
door. They answered and hadn t done anything. He stayed there until they left. They rode on and
soon realised that they forgot their smoked fish from the night before. After they had returned

No Clear Link Between TV Violence and Aggression Essay
No Clear Link Between Television Violence and Aggression
There is a great deal of speculation on the role of television violence in
childhood aggression. Research demonstrates there may be other intervening
variables causing aggression. These variables include IQ, social class, parental
punishment, parental aggression, hereditary, environmental, and modeling. With
all of these factors to taken into consideration it is difficult to determine a
causal relationship between television violence and aggression. It is my
hypothesis this relationship is bi directional violent television
causes aggressive behavior and aggressive people tend to watch more violent
television.

Subjects in the aggression condition reproduced a good deal of physical and
verbal aggressive behavior resembling that of the models. The data clearly
confirmed the prediction that exposure of subjects to aggressive models
increases the probability of aggressive behavior (Bandura et al. 1961). Another
study sought to determine the extent to which film mediated aggressive models
may serve as an important source of imitative behavior. Children were divided
and then exposed to four different aggression models. A real life aggression
condition, a human film aggression condition, a cartoon film aggression
condition, and a control group. The results showed that exposure to humans on
film portraying aggression was the most influential in eliciting aggressive
behavior. Subjects in this condition, in comparison to the control subjects,
exhibited more aggression and more imitative aggression. Subjects who viewed
the aggressive human and cartoon models on film exhibited almost twice as much
aggression as subjects in the control group. These results provide strong
evidence that exposure to filmed aggression heightens aggressive reactions in
children (Bandura et al. 1963a). These results add to the conclusion that
viewing violent television produces aggressive behavior.

Nitric Oxide On Oxygen Levels
Nitric Oxide on Hypoxia Levels in Metabolism and Vasoactivity Regulation This review paper is
based on research and learned techniques through this semester (Fall 2015), conducted under Dr.
Kenneth Kambis in the Adair Hall Facility. Although final approval was authorized in December,
there were previous volunteers that were informed under another approval given. In the research
project titled: Individual Variability Upon Acute Exposure to a Normobaric Hypoxic Environment
Simulating a Physiologic Altitude Equivalent to 3,500 Meters it covered and explores hypoxia
levels in various ethnic backgrounds at rigorous activity. The concept of metabolism and
vasoactivity in certain species systems is highly regulated under laboratory conditions with proper
materials, methods, and equipment. Measuring ranging levels of oxygenwhether in humans, sheep,
rats or mice is essential to understand chemical regulation in the organism s system. This may be
done in vivo or in vitro. In the laboratory, a normobaric hypoxia chamber is utilized to decrease the
oxygen content of the chamber atmosphere to a percentage that closely reflects the partial pressure
of oxygen in a given hypobaric environment without reducing the atmospheric pressure (Kambis,
2015). Thus the regulation of oxygen in partial pressures is similar to those found in hypobaric
atmospheres of up to extreme altitude. Innovation In human research the demographics to consider

Analysis of Hunger of Memory and Self Essay
While I read The Hunger of Memory: The Education of Richard Rodriguez , there were tons of
ideas that struck me. It was very interesting because so many of the different parts could relate to
my life. Also, given his story, it s so interesting to me that he is against bilingual education,
having benefited from it in his own life. To me, it places the book in a different light as I read it.
This book is a narrative and it is telling in how his opinions were formed because the experiences
that he had. In the narrative, the themes that I thought were most important were Rodriguez s
experience of separation from his family, his feelings of personal alienation and finally assimilation

In certain aspects, it pains her that I am American, even though by technical terms she is too,
because Puerto Rico is a US territory, but she sees American culture as the other. This is a conflict
that I grew up with and still deal with. It seems that for Rodriguez, assimilation into the American
culture was not what his parents wanted for him. The conflict comes in that they came here as did
my parents, for the benefits of the education and the opportunity that would represent for their
children, they just did not imagine the implications of growing up in a culture so different that the
one that they were trying to instill and all the complications that arise. This is something that I face
day to day as I try to navigate my life without offending in a way my mother s ideals and
sensibilities even though I do not agree with them because they are not mainstream culture and are
different from things that I have come to learn and believe and that is a real challenge.
Rodriguez focuses throughout the narrative on how language has marked the difference between
his public life and his private life. When he was a young child, he spoke primarily Spanish.
Spanish was the comfortable language of his home life, while English was the language he heard
spoken by strangers outside the home. The same was true in my family and is still true today.

The Athletic Director Of A Budding High School

I am interested in this topic because of my plan of influence on high school student athletes as an
athletic director. A problem of increasing concern with high school student athletes is preferential
treatment and altering the grades of exceptional athletes. Many problems and scandals are difficult
to identify because of the secrecy surrounding the situation. Grade altering is not one of those
problems. Grade altering stories are readily available in both local and national newspapers.
There is a growing problem where much of a school s popularity and funding stems from athletic
success. Even more, if a school has a student or group of students with great athletic ability, the
school will likely bend some of its rules to maintain the athletes image and eligibility.
In this study I intend to identify common administrative flaws within high schools, and identify a
strategy of grade altering corruption prevention.
All high school teachers and athletic directors should be familiar with the idea of grade altering,
and have a system in place to handle and correct any possible academic corruption. A precautionary
and preventative system can eliminate the possibility of grade altering, student athlete entitlement,
and negative media coverage of the school and athletic department.
Are there measures that can prevent the immoral and unethical practice of grade altering?

Improving Current System Of Police Reporting
5.5 Improvement to Current Situation
According to five factors that have been proposed, we had suggested some recommendations to
improve current system of police reporting in Malaysia which is the Police Reporting System
(PRS) to ensure that the function of the PRS will definitely helped to record and transfer the report
in a better and easier way.
5.5.1 Role
As mentioned above, role is very important factor in police reporting in order to make the report,
received statement from complainant, and most important thing is to transfer the report to
another police officers. As a recommendation, police organization in Malaysia can organize or
provide a training program for police personnel on duty at the enquiry office about the use and
maintenance of the PRS so that they can write the report quickly and also they know the function
for every single menu and button of the PRS. Plus, if the PRS are breakdown, the police
personnel will know how to fix the problem. Thus, it wills not wasting time to wait for the
technical team to fix the problem and also they no need to write the report manually in POL 55
and re type it once the PRS was fixed.
Besides that, enquiry officer also are encourage to more than one language. For instance, if the
complainant who come over to lodge a report does not know to speak Bahasa Malaysia, the enquiry
officer are able to speak another language like English, Mandarin, Tamil or any language that easy
to understand by the complainant.

Essay on Privacy Infringements through the Internet
Today in society, people are expected to be able to protect their own privacy, but the very
definition of privacy states that it is in no way completely attainable, nor will it ever be. And why
would people want that when it has been proven that to achieve absolute privacy would mean to

of evil, foul criminals. But what if the person violating your privacy is your best friend? In many
situations a violation of privacy is an embarrassing wall post or a mean video or tweet. This is a

Use Of Narrative In The Princess Bride
Taylor Lane Colyer
Dr. Cossar
Final Paper
April 11, 2017
Genre and Narrative in The Princess Bride
Genre and narrative appear in all forms of film; they cannot exist without each other. Films have
some form of narrative that makes it unique for a specific genre. This is due to the way the story
is told. Depending on how the story is told the audience will generate a response to the film they
are watching. Narrative and genre are used to explain the story and plot of a film. Let s look at The
Princess Bride for example; this is a genre film that uses narrative to tell a story. Through narrative
the film is able to get a response out of the audience and the audience knows how to respond to this
particular film because of past genre and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also action/adventure elements with the fire swamp and the pit of despair. These
different genres are what draw in such a diverse crowd. Genre theorist Rick Altman states how
genre classifications are down to the pre reading and knowledge that audiences have of texts,
before they watch a film they will know the story, characters, conventions, and mis en scene of
the genre (Altman: 1989). Audience members know they are in for a combination of a lot of
genres when they watch this film. The first ever film poster for the said Heroes, Giants, Villains,
Wizards, True love. Not just your basic, average, everyday, ordinary, run of the mill, ho hum
fairytale. The film brings in a very diverse crowd, because it contains so many genres. Not
everybody likes story s about true love and not everybody likes story s about wizards and giants,
so why not put them all together. I know several older men who love this film and I also know
several young women my age who love this film just as much. The great thing about this film in
particular is that the audience might think they have a pre determined answer as to what will
happen in the end, but due to the multitude of genres it causes the audience to question themselves
and form hypotheses.
Film theorist Erlend Lavik tells us that, practically all films contain gaps that the audience must fill
in. Seeking order and coherence, we instinctively make hypotheses about what is going to happen

Donald Finkel s The Great Wave Off Kanagawa
The Great Wave: Hokusai by Donald Finkel is a poem written about The Great Wave Off
Kanagawa , an artwork produced from 1831 to 1833 by Katsushika Hokusai during the Edo
period. The The Great Wave Off Kanagawa is just one of The Thirty six Views of Mt. Fuji . This
woodblock print portrays a tremendous tsunami overpowering small man powered boats, along with
Mount Fujiin the background. The compelling contrast between the turbulent waves and light
colored sky draws the viewer s eyes to the central figure of Mount Fuji, which was considered a
sacred symbol of beauty and immortality. In order for Finkel to develop a connection with Hokusais

According to Donald Finkel, describing his own speculations help the observer understand his
interpretation of the artwork. In light of this, he shares the correlation between the different
parts of nature and color in the first stanza by drawing attention to how the sea is blue (1). By
starting his poem with this reason, repeated twice with other elements of the painting, it
conjures the imagery of a chain reaction within creation. The land, sea, and people are linked as
one a commentary on the inclusiveness of nature. In addition to the color blue, a connection is
created with the use of similes between the color of the men s white faces , which was like the
snow on Fuji...and the crest of the wave (3). It is not by mere coincidence that the three main
objects in Hokusai s work are alike in color. Once again, land, sea, and humanity are linked in a
triangle, providing balance. Finally, a yellow neutral tone envelops the people, an earthcolored sky
that is also the color of their boats (8, 4 5). Finkel, and the woodblock, are saying that nature is not
the tool of humans, but rather that humans are just one part of a larger world that, as the wave
shows, can just as easily overwhelm

Man Vs. Nature In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Man vs. Nature in Jack London s To Build a Fire Since the dawn of time, mankind has had to
struggle to survive against the adverse conditions caused by Mother Nature. The theme to Jack
London s To Build a Fire is no different. To Build a Fire is a tragic story about the main protagonist
s effort to conquer the hostile environment in extreme sub freezingtemperature leading to his
undesired fate. The environment being the Yukon, is a bitterly cold environment with man or
without man. The protagonist being the man has to deal with these hardships, first being his critical
goal of reaching the camp, to fighting frostbite, to merely surviving the night. This sets up the short
story s central theme, that mankind lives a solitary existence which is subject to the relentless,

The type of naturalism in the setting of To Build a Fire is a metaphysical naturalism. Metaphysical
naturalism affirms that the natural world is the only real one, and that the human race is not
separate from it, but belongs to it as a part (Donald 1). London illustrates that the man is forced to
succumb to nature because he has absolutely no control over it and is merely a part of it. With
London s initial descriptive words, he utilizes the weather to foreshadow the challenges that the
man will face and provides the reader with a naturalistic approach on how nature will take tow on
the man . The descriptions of the setting shows the reader how powerful nature is and how the
man cannot conquer nature because he is a part of it. The man is in charge of his own doing,
while Nature is in charge of every aspect of the environment in To Build a

The Face Of Insanity Or Pure Evil
Medea: The Face of Insanity or Pure Evil
In Medea by Euripides, an unfortunate tragedy arose from devastating circumstances, centralizing
around intense grief and rage. In the center of the horrific situation was Medea, who was the
daughter of King Aeetes. She was the former wife of Jason until he decided to abandon his family
and duties as the head of the household by marrying Glauce, the Princess of Corinth. She murdered
her children, Glauce, and Creon, the King of Corinth to satiate her overwhelming lust for blood and

Her burning desire for vengeance and destruction extended far beyond intense passion. Thus,

were horrific and barbaric enough to be considered an ailment of insanity, the reality was that she
was the devil incarnate considering she strategically formulated a plan to achieve her demented
agenda. Evidently, Medea was not insane and did not commit the murder out of insanity, but pure
evil, which is fully crystal clear from her deranged actions and thoughts.
Medea is the poster child of an individual that is clearly evil. Even prior to the murders, she
displayed signs of pure wickedness and evil. For instance, Medea instigated the murder of King
Pelias by encouraging and manipulating his daughters to engage in patricide. Medea tricked Pelias
daughters into

Causes Of Immigration In America
The United States experienced major waves of immigration during the colonial era, the first part of
the
19th century and from the 1880s to 1920. Many immigrants came to America seeking greater
economic opportunity, while some, such as the Pilgrims in the early 1600s, arrived in search of
religious freedom.
From the 17th to 19th centuries, hundreds of thousands of African slaves came to America against
their will. The first significant federal legislation restricting immigration was the 1882 Chinese
Exclusion Act.
Individual states regulated immigration prior to the 1892 opening of Ellis Island, the country s first
federal immigration station. New laws in 1965 ended the quota system that favored European
immigrants, and today, the majority of the country s immigrants hail from Asia and Latin America.
From its earliest days, America has been a nation of immigrants, starting with its original inhabitants
who crossed the land bridge connecting Asia and North America tens of thousands of years ago. By
the
1500s, the first Europeans, led by the Spanish and French, had begun establishing settlements in
what would become the United States. In 1607, the English founded their first permanent
settlement in present day America at Jamestown in the Virginia Colony. Some of America s first
settlers came in search of freedom to practice their faith. In 1620, a group of roughly 100 people
later known as the
Pilgrims fled religious persecution in Europe and arrived at present day Plymouth,

The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Ullane Analysis
There are times I choose to pester anyone who doesn t give me what I want the first time. I feel
that I deserve it, but no one listens to my reasoning. Sometimes I feel that I am a valuable
artifact that needs the best of the best but recently, it makes me feel selfish. I don t need
everything to live a miraculous life, and that s the lesson The Miraculous Journey of Edward
Tulane gave me. If you asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I would list off all the toys from
Toys R Us. I wanted more than I needed. Like Edward, I sometimes act like a snob. I would need
everything in the world to be happy with what I have, but I would still want more. When Edward
was thrown off the boat, that s when my eyes opened up. Everything that I needed could

SuperTraining should utilize current software to advertize on the web and socical media in order
to atract new customers and CRM is necessary to facilitate that. Their Sales and Marketing
Information Systems should fall in line with CRM and are important because without marketing,
sales will deminish. In today s market, no company can stand on it s product with out new
marketting ideas much like what Kimberly Clark did when they revampted their KleenexВ® by
allowing people to send the new product to friends via Kleenex.com (Jack Neff, 2011).
SuperTraining will need Firewall security to prevent unwanted intrusion form out side hackers. Not
only do they need to secure the private information for each student but they also need to be
conerned about on line payments and keeping credit card or bank system imformation private.
Audio and Video Streaming is also important to SuperTraining s business model because many of
the classes, such as math, are taught on line where on site instruction is not needed. I metion these
6 topics as important not to say that other topics are not important, just that I perceive them to be
most important to keep Super Training s business model agile.

Filipino Immigration And Suicide Case Study
BIOCULTURAL ECOLOGY During the interview, I told Anna of many health risks that Filipino
immigrants have. Stanford University s website says Filipino immigrants are considered at risk of
hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes at midlife and old age, and other metabolic
problems. Liver cancer among Filipino males and females was second only to the Chinese and
three times higher than among whites. Geographic separation or alienation from family and
financial difficulties are found to be common stressors among clinically depressed Filipinos. Older
Filipino men committed suicide more than women, mimicking the trend for the general population
of older Americans. Compared to other Asian groups, the incidence of suicide is low among older...

Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Poetry Analysis of Dream Deferred Jazz poet Langston Hughes adopts figurative language to
convey his message to readers who are unsure about pursuing their dreams. In Dream Deferred ,
Langston Hughes depicts the danger of postponed dreams from the African American community
in the 1920s Harlem Renaissance where dreams were left behind due to fear of discrimination.
Hughes implements stylistic devices in his poem to develop the theme that deferred dreams may
lead to negative outcomes. Hughes applies symbolism and similes to his poem to emphasize the
terrible result of delayed dreams. For instance, Hughes questions if [Dreams] dry up like a raisin in
the sun (2 3). A dream will have the same negative effects that a raisin has: shrinking,

Art History 21
1. Discuss the impact of photography on the nineteenth century landscape. How did it affect
painting? What were the political implications of the medium? Use examples to support your essay.
Landscape painting was a particularly effective vehicle for allegory because it allowed artists to
make fictional subjects appear normal, conditioned, acceptable, or destined. Art was not just about
the landscape, it actually allowed the spirit of the painter to come alive in their work. The allegory
was for moral and spiritual concerns. The introduction to photography therefore impacted 19th
century landscape in a manner that was found to be unacceptable because personal intertwinement
of expression and emotion could not come from photography. ... Show more content on

Constable is representing this environment in his canvas by portraying the oneness that once was
had with nature.
Bierstadt s canvas is the basis of manifest destiny of the United States. Albert Bierstadt furthermore
presented Romantic panoramic landscape views that also participated in the continuous exploration
of the individual s and the country s relationship to the land. He focused on identifying qualities that
rendered America unique, which was part of the manifest destiny. The sunrays attempting to break
through the clouds are further support of the manifest destiny suggesting the heavenly light shining
through on a portion of the land (uncultivated and wild) is awaiting the people. His canvas is

pieces of art respective to their countries and environment is the building and destruction of

while Bierstadt expresses enthusiasm to build and create farm life in new found lands of the United

The Life of Robert E Lee
In life we all want to see things as black and white, cut and dry, and easy to understand. This is
not the case with Robert E. Lee. He was smart, loyal and above all, complicated. We like to make
him out as some old general guy who fought for the South in the Civil War. Eventually lost at
Gettysburg and because it was the turning point of the Civil War; he became famous for losing.
He is a lot more than just that. He was an actual person who, from his birth up to his death, dealt
with real life situations. On January 19, 1807, Robert E. Lee was born in Stratford, Virginia to
Henry and Anne Lee. His father was a Revolutionary War hero, nicknamed Light Horse Harry ,
also being a Major General. Being born in a military family, Robert seemed likely to follow in his
father s footsteps. When he was 18, he enrolled into West Point Military Academy where he
graduated second in his class in 1829. In 1831, he met and married his wife Mary Anna Randolph
Custis, the great granddaughter of George Washington and Martha Washington. They later had
seven children: four daughters and three sons. Instead of doing anything combat related he served
in the Corps of Engineers, looking over the construction of the United States coastal defenses.
However, his service in the Mexican American war in 1846 changed that. Being a member of
General Winfield, he made himself stand out, earning three brevets for gallantry and gaining the
rank of colonel from the war. After that,

Titration In The Medical Field
Today, in the real world, titration is used in the medical field to find the concentration of blood
and urine. It is also used to find a certain amount of a chemical in a food. A titration is a way to
the concentration of an unknown solution by using a solution with a known concentration. The
unknown solution is called an analyte , while the known solution is called the Titrant . The
glassware used in order to preform titrations is a buret or burette . A burette is a glass cylinder
with a tap on one of the edges. It is used for measuring volumes of liquids, especially in titrations.
Standardization (sometimes referred to as standardisation) is a way of putting something or make
something into technical standards. Standardization is used when doing a titration since it finds out
the exact concentration of a solution that you want to use to find the concentration of the analyte.
An equivalence point in a titration is when the moles of the titrant equal the moles of a analyte. One
way to find the Equivalence point is through the pH indicator. This is an indicator that changes color
when there is a chemical change. An acid and base indicator changes color depending on what the
pH is. There are also Redox ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to find a standard solution you must first, add water from a cleaning bottle to dissolve it.
Second, you would need to use some of the water to rinse off all the substance off the watch glass.
This needs to be done at least two times. Then stir with a glass rod until all the of the solid
substance is dissolved, then put the solution to the volumetric flask. The laboratory method is when
you drop the titrant into the analyt. (basically titration). The results you get are titration, pH level,
and the moles. The equation to find molarity/concentration is: M1 x V1 = M2 V2. In conclusion,
titration is very useful in the modern day. It s also pretty

The Commercialization Of Sport At The United States...
The Commercialization of Sport According to Brad Austin (2015), the US university programs on
athletics has created tangible links between the authorities of the institution and the alumni group in
two ways. One is legitimizing and codifying the alumni interest in men s and women s sports. To do
this, they even have provided alumni representatives in the athletic governing body. The second
one, is the coordination of various alumni events with the yearly homecoming events in the
universities of the US. It has been found that the American leaders used to utilize these
homecoming events to rejuvenate the spirit and affinity among the people of the country during the
decades of the early twentieth century. Thus, the universities were used to get affected by this
political interest. This political interest enhanced the initial steps towards commercialization of
homecoming. Janet Harvey (2000) has pointed out that in the last two decades the American
homecoming events have witnessed a cultural transformation towards commercialization. These
transformations have long term impact on its audience. The entertainment packages are now much
more an issue of concerns in the mainstream media than the actual sports event. The popularity has
been brought to a great extent by this hip hop culture through commercialization. Contemporary
cultural analysts are mostly concerned about analysing the impact of globalisation on the localised
events like homecoming game tailgate. The celebration

Gene Expression in Eukaryotes
Gene expression in eukaryotes can be broken down into three stages. These stages include
Transcription, RNA processing, and Translation. These steps are similar to gene expression in
prokaryotes but RNA processing is specific to gene expression in eukaryotes.
Transcription
Transcription happens in the cell nucleus. This is where DNA can be found. For example you can
use DNA as instructions to make certain things such as proteins, but, these instructions are in a
different language and you do not understand them, so the workers that will eventually assemble
them cannot work with them. This is where mRNA will come into play. The mRNA will provide
the workers or cells with new instructions that will be used to build the protiens. In transcription
DNA is unzipped and the enzyme RNA polymerase RNA polymerase binds to the promoter region.
This starts the unwinding of the DNA strands, and the polymerase starts RNA synthesis which runs
along the template strand of the DNA. In eukaryotic cells proteins called transcription factors bind
to promoters that include a TATA box, 25 nucleotides upstream from the start of transcription. After,
more transcription factors will bind to the DNA, together with RNA polymerase II, forming the
transcription initiation complex.
The second step of transcription is the process of elongation. This is where the polymerase moves
downstream while it unwinds the DNA and elongates the RNA from 5 to 3 . As the RNA synthesis
continues downstream the new

Into The Beautiful North Character Analysis
Into The Beautiful North FairyTale In the story Into The Beautiful North, there is an array of
colorful characters and the story seems to have strong tones of magical realism. While analyzing
the characters, many of them fit into the fairytale profiles. In the story, there is a heroine and a
damsel in distress. A hero s purpose in a book is to save the damsel in distress, which in this story,
is the town Tres Camarones. This story is a modern fairy talebecause the characters fall into classic
fairy tale archetypes, but have their own modern day twist. In a fairy tale, there has to be a hero;
someone who saves the day. The hero in the story is Nayeli because she is the one who has the
idea of saving the town, and the one who executes it and ends up bringing the men home. Other
characters in the story recognize her as the heroine as well. Irma says to Nayeli, You did
something I could never do. You came here on a mission... You had to be tested. And you passed.

at the worst possible time. Of course, everyone in Mexico would agree that there is no
particularly good time for bad men to come to town. But Tres Camarones was unguarded on that
late summer s day... (Urrea 3). When Urrea says, Tres Camarones was unguarded he s showing the
town s vulnerability to the impending doom that is coming. This town needs someone to save it; it
is the damsel in distress. This story is a contemporary fairy tale because the characters can be

Ring Of Power In Plato s Republic
In Plato s Republic, many stories are used as allusions and metaphors to describe the issues
being discussed. One of these stories is known as the Ring of Gyges , which focuses on a ring
with the power to turn the wearer invisible. This story has many similarities to the Ring of Power
in The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit, which also grants the ability to turn invisible. In this
essay, I will compare and contrast the Ring of Gyges and the events surrounding the Ring of Power
in The Lord of the Ringsand The Hobbit film trilogies. The Ring of Gyges is found when a violent
thunderstorm and an earthquake broke open a chasm in the ground (38). The Ring of Power is also
found within the ground, by a curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins. This occurs when Bilbo is lost
within the goblin city, when he runs into the deformed Gollum. In the other story, the ring is
found on, a corpse, which seemed to be of more than human size (38). Gollum, the ring bearer
prior to Bilbo Baggins is much smaller than the average human, due to his ancestry as Riversfolk
and the powers of the ring, which make his soul less just, and power thirsty. The Ring of Gyges
is found by a shepherd in the service of the ruler of Lydia (38), who can be considered a person of
lowly status. On the other hand, Bilbo is a Hobbit, a creature that is considered lowly, and... Show

Three Pane Model
A Brief Note on Open Economy ISLM Model (Three Paned Model)
Utility for Business Managers: Firms resort to macroeconomic analysis to make rational judgments
about the effects of global events or policy shocks on the economy and thereby on the business
environment. But such analysis is often laden with possibilities for logical missteps. The Three
Pane model (open economy IS/LM model) is discussed here as a tool for explaining key
relationships in the economy while avoiding the missteps encountered in macroeconomic analysis.
What is open economy macroeconomics?

Therefore, the net capital outflow decreases, which is shown by the fall in CF from CFo to
CF1. Likewise, if there is a fall in the interest rate from ro to r2, capital outflow increases, and
capital inflow decreases, leading to an increase in net capital outflow as indicated by an increase
in CF to CF2. The Capital Outflow (CF) curve is therefore, downward sloping. This means that,
higher domestic rates of interest are associated with lower net capital outflows, and lower domestic
rates of interest are associated with higher net capital outflows.
As mentioned earlier, the three paned model plots the net export schedule (NX) with respect to
the exchange rate, E. E is defined as the foreign currency per unit of domestic currency. If we
drop the equilibrium amount of capital flows CFo from pane II to the third pane we get the
equilibrium amount of net exports, NXo, which is determined by the intersection of the
perpendicular dropped from the CF schedule with the NX schedule. This also gives the equilibrium
nominal exchange rate, Eo. [Here, we are assuming price levels at home and abroad as constant,
therefore, nominal and real exchange rates can be considered to be proportional. i.e., they won t be
different].
How do we explain the model in simple economic terms?
In a closed economy, the rate of interest decided by the RBI defines the simultaneous equilibrium in
the product/goods market and the

Thank You For Being Expandable Essay
Do you think it s right for people who have PTSD to not be treated immediately? I think
especially for veterans, yes because making them wait hours and hours or even weeks and weeks
just to see the doctor is just too much. More should be done to improve current treatment for
sufferers of PTSD. We should be grateful for what the veterans have done for us. It s sad that
veterans can t just walk into a hospitaland get treated.
To start off if a veteran calls the V.A. it s because that person is in bad condition. So therefore,
when they call to make an appointment or to come in to see the doctor they should get treated
quickly. In the story Thank You for Being Expandable a man had returned for the Iraq war and
he started to have thoughts of killing himself and so he tried to call the V.A. to get him some
help. But all they did was put him on hold. So he said, In my experience, the wait for an
appointment was typically eight to ten weeks, but sometimes as long as three to four months.
Either way he tried he couldn t win because whether he came in person or not he still had to wait
a long time. But he also had to make sure that when he did get to talk to the doctor he was really
precise with what he said. So if for example the doctor asked him how much pain he was in on a
scale of 1 10 he would have to say at least a 10, so that the doctor would take him in right away ...

Relations Between India and Pakistan
Often synonymous with open hostility, relations between India and Pakistan are influenced by
numerous discordant factors. This essay will examine the primary antecedent, the Partition of India
and its bifurcation into two states. In emphasising the collective trauma and fragile nationalisms
that emerged, a connection will be established between the ensuing fear and distrust and its
manifestation into policies and actions over the past six decades. Its ramifications will be
considered in relation to each state s security and regional ambitions, the Kashmirdispute and their

Fears of external interference into domestic affairs, particularly the hidden hand of Pakistan, are
prominent. India s ire was aroused with confirmation of Lashkar e Taiba involvement in the 2008
Mumbai attack (Rath 2010, 16) and India has responded to the Naxalite threat in existential terms
(Tharu 2007, 96). Thence, to ameliorate its perceived insecurity, India has attempted to grasp the
position of regional hegemon (Rais 1991, 379), but has done so unsuccessfully and in the fact of
strong opposition.
Whilst India adopts a pan Asian strategy, Pakistan has singularly defined its national security
agenda in terms of protecting Muslims from a menacing India (Riedel 2008, 41). The resulting
physical and ideological fortress (Cohen 2006, 61) has endowed Pakistan with a progressively rigid
and myopic outlook. Depictions of a united Islamic community are fallacious, with Pakistan s
greatest threat being state disintegration. Almost every ethnicity, with the exception of Punjabi s,
has or had an ethno nationalist movement (Mushtaq 2009, 281). The 1971 loss of East Pakistan,
achieved partly with Indian assistance, starkly revealed not only the threat of balkanisation but also
its congruence with Indian interests. Ominously, Pakistan is now confronted with an exponentially
stronger India containing a larger number of Muslims than Pakistan itself (de Riencourt 1983, 420).

How does Seneca’s Characterisation of Thyestes add to the...
Characterisation is hugely important to a plot just for it to make some sort of sense. The
characterisation of key figures in the plot, however, has huge significance as it helps you to
understand why the characters perform certain, (often unthinkable,) actions. If we only have one
dimensional characters described to us then we are unable to immerse ourselves into a highly
complex plot. Intense characterisation makes us form connections with key figures and actually
empathise with some of them, especially in the case of the Thyestes. As a rule, characterisation is
vital to make any plot evoke any sort of feelings except the enjoyment of reading a pleasurable

He should also be learned and philosophical. All these traits apply to Thyestes, a stereotypical wise
man. This adds to the impact of the plot as we see Thyestes as a good man and one who certainly
doesn t deserve to suffer through the tragic demise of his sons. Seeing Thyestes as a wise and
philosophical man who has suffered through life makes us empathise with him hugely as any death
is made multiple times worse if the victims are innocent. Thyestes, however, seems slightly too
trusting of Atreus and does not think through his invitation and almost subconsciously hopes that
Atreus means well.
We also hear Thyestes exclaim: is it from grief or fear? Or doth great joy hold tears? Thyestes
cunning mind knows that it is wrong to trust Atreus and causes him to cry but Thyestes decides
to think of the tears in joy rather than fear, ignoring his own subconscious warning. My cause of

Narrative Complexity Of A Murder

Narrative Complexity of a Murder
Through advancements in technology over the years, a new form of television surrounded by the
idea of narrative complexity arose (Mittell 31). In Jason Mittell s book, Complex TV: The Poetics
of Contemporary TelevisionStorytelling, he argues that narratively complex programs allows
viewers to participate actively by underlining the conventional traditions of storytelling, but also
integrating inventive and long term strategies to attract viewers and create a fan base. This idea of
narrative complexity stems from the balance between both television s traditional episodic form
and serial form. ABC s breakout television show, How to Get Away with Murder, is an example of
a program that implements devices such as nonlinear storytelling and seasonal arcs in order to
develop a complex narrative that fosters engagement in audiences and comments on contemporary
TV viewing.
In his book, Complex TV: The Poetics of Contemporary Television Storytelling, Mittell argues that
different media has an operational aesthetic that conforms to the conceptualization of a form of
television storytelling called narrative complexity . In order to explain the notion of operational
aesthetic, in class Professor Jackson explained that it is the way that media makers orchestrate the
plot, narrative and story of a television show in an unusual way. One way that the hit

intense high school life and how they re manipulated by a person who they don t even know.
These girls are best friends until one night there friendship falls apart because the main leader,
Alison ,has disappeared. As I watched all the seasons of this show I choose a particular episode
because it demonstrates the different controversies of culture criticism that people had when this
show released and continued to have. It portrays a part of our own society. Although there are
different opinions I believe that this show has an impact on adolescent and the non diverse world
of a small community and high schools. The show wants to relate to their audience which is
teenagers and parents it does so by the connections made throughout the show. It begins with the
girls developing a fear of A, a person who threatens them after the disappearance of Alison. As it
gets into season 3 Episode 15 the show demonstrates the character... Show more content on

Loss In Gwilan s Harp And The Last Leaf
Everyone can master grief but he that has it. This quote, written by William Shakespeare,
demonstrates that people often struggle loss, most often losing friends or valuable possessions.
Loss can be a powerful thing that can control people, but it can also help people learn
indispensable lessons. It changed and deeply affected numerous characters in Gwilan s Harp, by
Ursula K. Le Guin, The Washwoman, by Isaac Bashevis Singer, and The Last Leaf, by O. Henry.
It affected many, if not all, of the characters choices. Each character reacted in a different way.
They also all learned a lesson from their loss. It changed them and grew them, encouraging them to
become a better person. Loss is an important theme in Gwilan s Harp, The Washwoman, and The

losing her life, when she loses all hope and will to live, almost to the point of giving up and
dying. Johnsy realizes that she should not wish to die, because she realizes by wishing to die she
would sin. She finds some hope when she tells Sue someday I hope to paint the Bay of Naples
(Henry). Both women lose a friend when Behrman died, a man who watched over the girls from his
apartment right below theirs. All these losses prompted the characters to act differently than they
normally would. Loss is a powerful thing that deeply affected all the characters in The Last

Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Essay
I am critiquing Ambrose Bierce on his work Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge which was
published in 1891, in a collection of stories titled Tales of Soldiers and Civilians. After being
published in a San Francisco newspaper in 1890 the movie version was produced in 1962 by
two French producers, Marcel Ichac and Paul Roubaix. The story for the film was adapted and
directed by Robert Enrico. The film won these awards 1962 Cannes Film Festival, 1963 Academy
Award, and, Live Action Short Film First Prize: Best Short Subject. The theme of this film is how
time can influence your outlook on life. This film takes place during the Civil War around 1862
1865. It takes place in rural Alabama, spring time, and early morning as it moves into late evening.
Since this is during the Civil War the Union soldiers are invading the south. Most of the action...

Citizen Kane Vs Rashomon
His Girl Friday, Citizen Kane and Rashomon are all very well recognized films in the cinema media
world as well as from avid movie viewers globally. Although all three are iconic films in their own
way, they vary greatly in the film form in which they re presented. His Girl Friday is a prime
example of a classical form, whereas Rashomon can be classified as an example of art cinema. The
third film, Citizen Kanecannot be grouped into either one of these distinct categories, because it
shares similarities that both classical and art cinema films involve. Rather, Citizen Kane belongs
in a category of its own and can be seen as a crossbreed, involving aspects of both classical and art
cinema production. The fundamental principle of any... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned previously, Citizen Kane belongs in a category of its own because it lacks a true
identity under each of these two distinct categories. The ways in which Citizen Kane could be
classified as a classical film are presented in the dual plotline, and sense of strong closure to the
unsolved opening to which the film opens. As disorderly as the film begins, and the unresolved
mystery of Rosebud remains throughout the duration of the film. We do eventually determine the
role to which Rosebud has as the film unfolds. On the contrary, Citizen Kane does present traits
that are more closely associated to that of art cinema films. Such as unclear goals and traits to
which Charles Kane is trying to accomplish throughout the duration of the film. Both as a family
man with his first wife, to his uneasy marriage with his second wife, Charles Kane remains the
center of attention due to his extreme wealth, desire for control and robust lifestyle. But the
unresolved question to which everyone is trying to overcome, of, whom or what is Rosebud
remains the motivating cliffhanger. The film does not give us any clear answers to these unknown
goals Kane is trying to addresses, moreover the significance to which Rosebud has to offer. This
dual plotline seen in Citizen Kane is an aspect seen in many classical films, but the

Chinese Migration
In the year of 2017, Canada will be celebrating 132 years since the completion of the CPR, the
Canadian Pacific Railway. The completion of the transcontinental railway was critical for the
survival of the newly formed country of Canada. It finally unified the country from coast to coast,
economically, and physically linking the wide set of land together. However, even though the
building of the railroad was a dangerous and a long construction, it created employment for
thousands of Chinese workers. The Heritage Minute: Nitro presents the story of an old man telling
his grandchildren about how Chinese immigrants helped build the Canadian Pacific Railwayin the
late 1800 s. A younger self of the old man is shown as he volunteers to set a dangerous... Show more

Many citizens of Canada believed that the Chinese had come to take away their jobs, urging on
great amount of racism. The Prime Minister of Canada at the time, John A. Macdonald, insisted
on the recruitment of the Chinese workers in the interest of reducing costs. The Chinese workers
were paid one fifth to one half of the salaries Canadian workers received. Not only did they
provide cheap labour for their employers, but would also do the jobs Canadians would not. Just
as shown in the Heritage Minute, the Chinese workers were used to blow up rock with the
explosive nitroglycerin. As mentioned in the Heritage Minute, it is said that for every mile of the
railway, one Chinese worker died. Some argue that it is more accurate to say that for every mile of
the railway, four Chinese workers died. However, the Chinese workers brought more to the
production of the CPR than just cheap labour; they brought with them their knowledge and

Healthcare Technology of Today
Introduction
Healthcare technology has come a long way. I remember the days of putting my fingers on
patients wrists to take their pulse and looking up at the clock while counting, using manual blood
pressure cuffs and looking at their chest rise and fall to count for respirations. Today that picture is
very different, now, almost everything nurses do depends on the information they get from
electronic devices, and Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) professionals, are responsible
for the majority of those devices (Hayhurst, 2015). In the last four weeks we covered many topics
on nursing leadership and styles. First, I learned that time management, leadership theories, learning
styles, leadership and management are all essential parts of nursing. Second, I learned that
everyone has different types of personalities and what seems right to me, is not the only way. Third,
I learned about change theories, conflict theories and leaders as change agents. Also, the conflict
resolution questionnaire analysis showed me that my style of conflict resolution is Collaboration.
Last, I learned about emotional intelligence, communication styles, and the body language quiz
showed me that I have a strong ability to read other people. Nursing informatics and Healthcare
Technology is the way of the future. With the electronic health records (EHRs)

Mourning and Melancholia After a tragic loss someone will go through a grieving process that
will either be constructive or destructive. Mourning is a period of time when the person
experiencing this loss begins to search for reconciliation and a way to deal with the sadness. They
will attempt to move on, forgive and forget, the past. Freud wrote that mourning is a normal
reaction to the loss of a love object, which is consciously known and identifiable. People mourning
will express their sadness but will be able to eventually part from their love lost. Inversely, Freud
says that melancholia develops when the sadness is inappropriate to the situation and becomes
internalized. The person suffering from melancholia identifies the lost... Show more content on

Do you think your mother is still alive? She s dead already! I died the day they took your father! I
died again out on that ocean, Lai this person you call your mother is nothing but a corpse living
only to take care of you, but your real mother is already dead son! I hope you know. Shes dead
son. Melancholic patients might seek revenge against the lost loved one by tormenting
themselves. The normal stage of bereavement defined as anger turns inward and becomes a
conflict between love and hate that attacks the ego, according to Freud s theory. These patients
might feel deeply dejected and lose all interest in external activities. This is exactly what is seen
in the character of Mai when she has her mental breakdown and expresses her feelings to her son.
Mai and Socheata deal with sadness and loss very differently. Socheata mourns and eventually
overcomes her grief. She forgives her mother for having kept secrets and forgives the ex Khmer
Rouge people for the objectives they carried out. Finally, her mourning process concludes as she
takes part in her ceremonial birth at the Buddhist temple. Her experiences of loss end on a more
positive note than those of Mai. Mai has suffered so much she can no longer look to the future
with optimism. Her life ended when she lost her husband and she cannot overcome the sadness. For

Summary Of The Dilemma Of Dr. Sagatius
I must admit by way of virtue that after reading the dilemma of Dr. Sagatius, pg 186, I was
dumbfounded as to the mind numbing choice I would have to make where the doctor in this
dilemma. Furthermore, I believe that this dilemma is often encountered not only in the health
sector, but widely common in the policing community. It is realistic that though policemen and
department managers are selected and trained in a professional code of ethics, cops may inevitably
succumb to an entirely different set of ethics in where loyalty is to their fellow officers rather than
social justice. It is this camaraderie, the nature of the job, this danger they face that forges a knit
tight gang of loyalty to each other. Label it whistle blowing if you will

Dependency on Technology in a Modern World
Dependency on Technology in a Modern World
Introduction
Technology has virtually defined the human condition since the early stages in the species
evolution. First there were rudimentary tools such as arrows and hammering utensils which
allowed humans a far great range in manipulating their environment. Further developments such
as fire, clothing, and shelter and so on changed the way humans lived and every aspect of their
lives. Today s societies have more advanced tools such as a laptop, IPod, GPS, cell phone, a
seemingly infinite number of other gizmos and gadgets that shape their lives. This essay will
question whether these devices will add to our wellbeing and improve our lives or if the
development of technology has hit a threshold point in which further developments are of little
practical value or even of negative consequence.
Communications
Of all the advancements in technology from its inception, the advancement in communication has
to be one of the most revolutionary forces that have come about. People now can communicate
with nearly anyone else in the world for very little cost and instantaneously through a variety of
mediums. People are free to move around the globe and never lose contact with the people that
they care about. Students can live video chat with other student half way around the world and can
even form interactive classrooms with a wide range of participants. Professors can record a lecture
that can be hosted on a site for anyone to

Analysis Of Julia Alvarez s Woman s Work
31.Woman s work Julia Alvarez In this poem Woman s Work , the mother is forced to do
household cleaning which represents a domestic life and the impact of gender specific roles.
This poem is written in the third person point of view. The speaker is the daughter of a mother
who doesn t work outside, but only inside of the house, and is forced to do household cleaning
with her as she hears her friends playing outside in the street. Author Julia Alvarez uses imagery,
simile, and alliteration to portray the meaning of the poem that women work harder than men.
In lines 5 6, keep house as if the address were your heart. It basically means to keep the memories
of the home in the heart. The memories of the households are special and should never be
forgotten. But the word your is used to symbolize the dad as something special to the house and
family. The daughter shows that the dad is never around the house and leaves all the housework
to the mother and herself since she s helping her mother. The dad being someone special shows
that he has the power and control in the house that represents a domestic life for the mother and
daughter. In line 24 29 it quotes, And I, her masterpiece since I was smart, was primed, praised,
polished, scolded and advised to keep a house much better than my heart . In the poem letter P
repeats itself using the words primed, praised and polished Those were the goals that she had to
follow and tried to achieve. 32.Barbie Doll Marge

Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials

Classic Literature

The Salem Witch Trials The Salem witch trials were an important event in American history.
However this affected more than Salem, the ripples from these trials swept throughout the United
States. Over two hundred witches where accused and twenty where killed. Later the judges
admitted that they had been mistaken and tried to make it right but frictions lasted for a long time
after word. (Blumberg, 2007) The main reason behind the Salem Witch Trials was fear. The
location of Salem was a town that was on the edge of the settled colonies. Therefor the settlers of
this area had many reasons to fear death, by starvation, sickness, or being killed and scalped by
the Native American that lived in the forest. The people that lived in constant fear took it out on
the weaker people. These weaker people where; the old, the poor, and women. When the
movement started this fear compelled the people to take action. (Salem Witch Trials, 2011)
These trials started in Salem when some young girls had fits. The doctor said it was because of
witches and the town blamed several women. Titub, one of the accused, was a slave form the
Caribbean. Sarah Good, another, was a homeless beggar. Sarah Osborne, an elderly impoverished
woman, was the third accused. These three where imprisoned and where tried. Two of them,
Osborne and Good, refused to confess, but finally Titub confessed to associating to with the devil.

Direct Characterization Eliza Gant
Getting ready to go on stage, I felt the first stomach sinking feeling of being truly nervous, for
the first time in my life. Eliza Gant was the character staring in my high school s spring play, and
she had completely taken over my being. Her motherly instinct found its way into my teenage
lifestyle, and the way she approached conflict with a loud voice and obvious attitude altered my
usually easy going demeanor. I had never played a role so great and I was truly worried that my
own unique characteristics would come out on stage, unconnected with this woman who was so
unlike me. When I came exited the stage doors, finally able to address my family and friends who

the two of us had seemed to shape one another and become one, especially as the show came to
its closing. My mother saw the way I had used her traits to take on an empowered, though
aggressive, motherly figure. My emotions and way of addressing family members were taken
directly from the approach I had witnessed her in mothering my siblings and the many important
phone calls she shared with her father concerning their legal practices and daily lives. She hated
seeing her bad traits come out on stage, but loved the way I looked up to her with all the hard
work that made its way into the part. I was incredibly proud to find out how much people seemed
to dislike my character. She was an overwhelming and angry woman, something that I had never
wanted to become. The way Eliza Gant seemed to possess me was something that had never
occured for any other character I performed, and I was amazed at the feedback I received. So many

In life, the best thing to do is to march to the beat of my own drum. A great activity offered by
Ridgeview Middle/High School (RMS and RHS) school is the band class. First, it is hard work
that is worth all of the effort put into it. Second, it is an overall fun and enjoyable class. Last,
there is always something new to happen in the band class. As can be seen, in my opinion, band is
the best activity to do in school.
First of all, with all of the hard work, it will all be worth it in the long shot. People will admire
and enjoy what the band has to offer. The band travels to different cities to play and have fun in the

the amount of students that will buy candy and sugary soft drinks. Although selling candy and
sugary soft drinks may be unhealthy, It could also brighten up student s day. It could also increase
how much money the students are giving for the candy and sugary soft drinks.
Selling candy and sugary soft drinks can reduce problems around the school. For example, things

students will have the advantage of having whatever they like.
Candy and sugary soft drinks sold in schools can be less money spent for parents. It reduces not
having money for parents. In addition, it reduces arguments from happening between kids and
parents because the kid will get mad if the parent says no they can not have any candy or soft drink.
Then, the parent will get mad at the kid because he/she wants the candy. However, It prevents the
parent from doing something important with their money. Also It will keep the parent from
spending all their money instead of letting the kid pay out of their pocket.
I also say no because at sometimes kids need nutrition in their body. They need nutrition because a
lot of candy and sugary soft drinks can harm their body in many different ways. In addition, high
blood pressure goes up from eating too much candy and drinking too much soft drinks. It could
also cause the kid to get diabetes from the candy and sugary soft drinks. Kids should consider

The Rocket Boys
The Rocket Boys Homer Hickam Jr. For my reading assignment, I chose The Rocket Boys by
Homer Hickam Jr. It is an autobiography written more like a fiction novel about a high school
aged boy, Homer, who lived in a coal mining town named Coalwood. His father ran the coal mine
and wanted his son to follow in his footsteps but Homer did not want to become a miner. He
wanted to grow up to be a rocket engineer. Homer and his father were never great friends and this
built tension between them all the way through Homer s high school years. This passion for
rockets began while Homer was watching the Russians launch a satellite into space for the first
time ever. He started to learn about rockets and with a group of friends, he started to... Show more

That was when almost as if someone had pulled a string, my stomach and head stopped hurting.
Socially, Homer always seemed fine. He had a great group of friends the rocket boys throughout
the story. By the end of the book, his social circumstances were even better as Homer was
regarded as almost a small town hero in Coalwood after winning the science fairs. He still had a
great group of friends that he was with since before and during high school and the community
liked him and his friends a lot; this most evident after listening to the people watching the boys
drive to their last launch: Some people saw the rocket sticking out of the window, and shouts of
encouragement rang out. The rocket boys, hoo! We re proud of you boys! A OK, all systems
go! . People from all over the county respected the boys, especially Homer. Homer was in great
shape at the end of the book physically, emotionally, and socially, having stayed true to what he
wanted to do, and sticking with his friends. Personally, I like Homer. He tries to please everyone
he knows with whatever he does. He seems genuine and puts a lot of work into everything he
does. One thing I noticed about Homer that is most admirable is that he did not give up when he
needed something. If he needed to get supplies for his rockets, he would do whatever he could to
get them. He would trade for supplies, do

With this quote she showed that through all the struggles that she had been through, she was still able to sing and dance happily. Tina Turner didn t start off with a great career for singing. She built her way up to fame using her own techniques and with some help by Ike Turner. Tina Turner was an inspiration to others because of her way and ability of gathering fame, her passion for the songs that she sang, and because of the fact even if her childhood wasn t exactly the best, she still became a wonderful and strong woman. • 3. The Slender Body By Greg Garber Sacrifices of the Body In assessing the good life, intrinsic and extrinsic rewards are a vital component of reaching it. Greg Garber s five part series on the life of Mike Webster, discusses the sacrifices a football player must undertake in order to be successful. The dangers, both mentally and physically that a football player faces weekly, are a part of the job that can have lifelong consequences. One could easily find himself with permanent disabling injuries. Equally dangerous are eating disorders, which Susan Bordo explains in the chapter, Reading the Slender Body, from her book, Unbearable Weight: Feminism, Western Culture, and the Body. During the process, he ended up with many physical and mental aliments that adversely effected his mobility and mindset later in life. According to Garber, by the end of his 17 year football career ended, Webster sustained numerous injuries that included broken fingers, permanent damage to his back along with his knees, right shoulder, and right heal. In addition, he suffered from severe head trauma that caused continuous headaches (Blood and Guts). Obviously, he had the mental fortitude, especially when he was younger, to endure the pain and suffering that accompany physical injuries, but eventually the pain became unbearable, even for a man of his stature. Webster s physical and mental aliments began to control him, which in turn affected his intrinsic happiness that is a requirement to reach the good life. As external forces can severely affect one s inner happiness, Webster s extrinsic encounters did not assist in providing him with a good life. From failed business ventures, which culminated with seizing of his assets, to a failed coaching position and an ill timed divorce (Man on the Moon). The worst extrinsic injustice Webster suffered was at the hands of his former employer, the National Football League. Though the league did disburse disability payments to him, it was five years after Webster retired (Sifting through the Ashes). With the amount of injuries Webster sustained, the payments could have helped him immensely, which in turn, could have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of Paul Revere This is the tale of some of the greatest heroes of the American Revolution. The first hero is Paul Revere. On April 19, 1775, he heard the news of what the British had planned. General Gage of the British army was going to send troops to Lexington to capture Sam Adams and John Hancock. Paul Revere knew he had to do something. He got on his horse and went on a midnight ride threw the colonies. He yelled The British Regulars are coming! During his whole ride and told people One if by land, two if by sea! Meaning that they should look at the lighthouse to see how many lanterns are lit up. On the way to Lexington to save Sam Adams and John Hancock he was stopped by British soldiers on horses. They asked him where he was going and he told them he was going to warn the people of the regulars that were coming. They thought that their army was too powerful and that it didn t matter if the colonists knew that they were coming. So, they let him go. When he got to Lexington the Regulars weren t there yet. He found John Hancock and Sam Adams and knocked on their door. Someone came down and asked what he was doing there. He told them to pack their bags and get out of Lexington. After that he rode on. He soon realized that he should go back and check on them so he doubled back and knocked on the door. They answered and hadn t done anything. He stayed there until they left. They rode on and soon realised that they forgot their smoked fish from the night before. After they had returned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No Clear Link Between TV Violence and Aggression Essay No Clear Link Between Television Violence and Aggression There is a great deal of speculation on the role of television violence in childhood aggression. Research demonstrates there may be other intervening variables causing aggression. These variables include IQ, social class, parental punishment, parental aggression, hereditary, environmental, and modeling. With all of these factors to taken into consideration it is difficult to determine a causal relationship between television violence and aggression. It is my hypothesis this relationship is bi directional violent television causes aggressive behavior and aggressive people tend to watch more violent television. Over the years there has been ... The data clearly confirmed the prediction that exposure of subjects to aggressive models increases the probability of aggressive behavior (Bandura et al. 1961). Nitric Oxide On Oxygen Levels Nitric Oxide on Hypoxia Levels in Metabolism and Vasoactivity Regulation This review paper is based on research and learned techniques through this semester (Fall 2015), conducted under Dr. Kenneth Kambis in the Adair Hall Facility. Although final approval was authorized in December, there were previous volunteers that were informed under another approval given. In the research project titled: Individual Variability Upon Acute Exposure to a Normobaric Hypoxic Environment Simulating a Physiologic Altitude Equivalent to 3,500 Meters it covered and explores hypoxia levels in various ethnic backgrounds at rigorous activity. The concept of metabolism and vasoactivity in certain species systems is highly regulated under laboratory conditions with proper materials, methods, and equipment. Measuring ranging levels of oxygenwhether in humans, sheep, rats or mice is essential to understand chemical regulation in the organism s system. This may be done in vivo or in vitro. In the laboratory, a normobaric hypoxia chamber is utilized to decrease the oxygen content of the chamber atmosphere to a percentage that closely reflects the partial pressure of oxygen in a given hypobaric environment without reducing the atmospheric pressure (Kambis, 2015). Thus the regulation of oxygen in partial pressures is similar to those found in hypobaric atmospheres of up to extreme altitude. The conflict comes in that they came here as did my parents, for the benefits of the education and the opportunity that would represent for their children, they just did not imagine the implications of growing up in a culture so different that the one that they were trying to instill and all the complications that arise. This is something that I face day to day as I try to navigate my life without offending in a way my mother s ideals and sensibilities even though I do not agree with them because they are not mainstream culture and are different from things that I have come to learn and believe and that is a real challenge. You see the potential in this student, and it leads to recognition, acclaim, and possibly future financial gain. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am interested in this topic because of my plan of influence on high school student athletes as an athletic director. A problem of increasing concern with high school student athletes is preferential treatment and altering the grades of exceptional athletes. Many problems and scandals are difficult to identify because of the secrecy surrounding the situation. Grade altering is not one of those problems. Grade altering stories are readily available in both local and national newspapers. There is a growing problem where much of a school s popularity and funding stems from athletic success. Even more, if a school has a student or group of students with great athletic ability, the school will likely bend some of its rules to maintain the athletes image and eligibility. In this study I intend to identify common administrative flaws within high schools, and identify a strategy of grade altering corruption prevention. In light of this, he shares the correlation between the different parts of nature and color in the first stanza by drawing attention to how the sea is blue (1). By starting his poem with this reason, repeated twice with other elements of the painting, it conjures the imagery of a chain reaction within creation. The land, sea, and people are linked as one a commentary on the inclusiveness of nature. In addition to the color blue, a connection is created with the use of similes between the color of the men s white faces , which was like the snow on Fuji...and the crest of the wave (3). It is not by mere coincidence that the three main objects in Hokusai s work are alike in color. Once again, land, sea, and humanity are linked in a triangle, providing balance. Finally, a yellow neutral tone envelops the people, an earthcolored sky that is also the color of their boats (8, 4 5). In the center of the horrific situation was Medea, who was the daughter of King Aeetes. She was the former wife of Jason until he decided to abandon his family and duties as the head of the household by marrying Glauce, the Princess of Corinth. The unknown solution is called an analyte , while the known solution is called the Titrant . The glassware used in order to preform titrations is a buret or burette . A burette is a glass cylinder with a tap on one of the edges. It is used for measuring volumes of liquids, especially in titrations. Standardization (sometimes referred to as standardisation) is a way of putting something or make something into technical standards. Standardization is used when doing a titration since it finds out the exact concentration of a solution that you want to use to find the concentration of the analyte. An equivalence point in a titration is when the moles of the titrant equal the moles of a analyte. One way to find the Equivalence point is through the pH indicator. The Commercialization of Sport According to Brad Austin (2015), the US university programs on athletics has created tangible links between the authorities of the institution and the alumni group in two ways. One is legitimizing and codifying the alumni interest in men s and women s sports. To do this, they even have provided alumni representatives in the athletic governing body. The second one, is the coordination of various alumni events with the yearly homecoming events in the universities of the US. It has been found that the American leaders used to utilize these homecoming events to rejuvenate the spirit and affinity among the people of the country during the decades of the early twentieth century. Thus, the universities were used to get affected by this political interest. This political interest enhanced the initial steps towards commercialization of homecoming. Janet Harvey (2000) has pointed out that in the last two decades the American homecoming events have witnessed a cultural transformation towards commercialization. These transformations have long term impact on its audience. The entertainment packages are now much more an issue of concerns in the mainstream media than the actual sports event. These steps are similar to gene expression in prokaryotes but RNA processing is specific to gene expression in eukaryotes. Transcription Transcription happens in the cell nucleus. This is where DNA can be found. For example you can use DNA as instructions to make certain things such as proteins, but, these instructions are in a different language and you do not understand them, so the workers that will eventually assemble them cannot work with them. This is where mRNA will come into play. The mRNA will provide the workers or cells with new instructions that will be used to build the protiens. In transcription DNA is unzipped and the enzyme RNA polymerase RNA polymerase binds to the promoter region. This starts the unwinding of the DNA strands, and the polymerase starts RNA synthesis which runs along the template strand of the DNA. In eukaryotic cells proteins called transcription factors bind to promoters that include a TATA box, 25 nucleotides upstream from the start of transcription. After, more transcription factors will bind to the DNA, together with RNA polymerase II, forming the transcription initiation complex. The second step of transcription is the process of elongation. This is where the polymerase moves downstream while it unwinds the DNA and elongates the RNA from 5 to 3 . As the RNA synthesis continues downstream the new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This means that, higher domestic rates of interest are associated with lower net capital outflows, and lower domestic rates of interest are associated with higher net capital outflows. As mentioned earlier, the three paned model plots the net export schedule (NX) with respect to the exchange rate, E. E is defined as the foreign currency per unit of domestic currency. If we drop the equilibrium amount of capital flows CFo from pane II to the third pane we get the equilibrium amount of net exports, NXo, which is determined by the intersection of the perpendicular dropped from the CF schedule with the NX schedule. This also gives the equilibrium nominal exchange rate, Eo. [Here, we are assuming price levels at home and abroad as constant, therefore, nominal and real exchange rates can be considered to be proportional. i.e., they won t be different]. How do we explain the model in simple economic terms? In a closed economy, the rate of interest decided by the RBI defines the simultaneous equilibrium in the product/goods market and the ... I think especially for veterans, yes because making them wait hours and hours or even weeks and weeks just to see the doctor is just too much. More should be done to improve current treatment for sufferers of PTSD. We should be grateful for what the veterans have done for us. It s sad that veterans can t just walk into a hospitaland get treated. To start off if a veteran calls the V.A. it s because that person is in bad condition. So therefore, when they call to make an appointment or to come in to see the doctor they should get treated quickly. In the story Thank You for Being Expandable a man had returned for the Iraq war and he started to have thoughts of killing himself and so he tried to call the V.A. to get him some help. But all they did was put him on hold. So he said, In my experience, the wait for an appointment was typically eight to ten weeks, but sometimes as long as three to four months. Either way he tried he couldn t win because whether he came in person or not he still had to wait a long time. But he also had to make sure that when he did get to talk to the doctor he was really precise with what he said. Fears of external interference into domestic affairs, particularly the hidden hand of Pakistan, are prominent. India s ire was aroused with confirmation of Lashkar e Taiba involvement in the 2008 Mumbai attack (Rath 2010, 16) and India has responded to the Naxalite threat in existential terms (Tharu 2007, 96). Thence, to ameliorate its perceived insecurity, India has attempted to grasp the position of regional hegemon (Rais 1991, 379), but has done so unsuccessfully and in the fact of strong opposition. Whilst India adopts a pan Asian strategy, Pakistan has singularly defined its national security agenda in terms of protecting Muslims from a menacing India (Riedel 2008, 41). The resulting physical and ideological fortress (Cohen 2006, 61) has endowed Pakistan with a progressively rigid and myopic outlook. Depictions of a united Islamic community are fallacious, with Pakistan s greatest threat being state disintegration. Almost every ethnicity, with the exception of Punjabi s, has or had an ethno nationalist movement (Mushtaq 2009, 281). The 1971 loss of East Pakistan, achieved partly with Indian assistance, starkly revealed not only the threat of balkanisation but also its congruence with Indian interests. The characterisation of key figures in the plot, however, has huge significance as it helps you to understand why the characters perform certain, (often unthinkable,) actions. If we only have one dimensional characters described to us then we are unable to immerse ourselves into a highly complex plot. Intense characterisation makes us form connections with key figures and actually empathise with some of them, especially in the case of the Thyestes. Thyestes, however, seems slightly too trusting of Atreus and does not think through his invitation and almost subconsciously hopes that Atreus means well. We also hear Thyestes exclaim: is it from grief or fear? Or doth great joy hold tears? Thyestes cunning mind knows that it is wrong to trust Atreus and causes him to cry but Thyestes decides to think of the tears in joy rather than fear, ignoring his own subconscious warning. Narrative Complexity Of A Murder Victoria Alvarez Josh Jackson/Ganesh Media Studies 10 Section 104 27 September 2016 Narrative Complexity of a Murder Through advancements in technology over the years, a new form of television surrounded by the idea of narrative complexity arose (Mittell 31). In Jason Mittell s book, Complex TV: The Poetics of Contemporary TelevisionStorytelling, he argues that narratively complex programs allows viewers to participate actively by underlining the conventional traditions of storytelling, but also integrating inventive and long term strategies to attract viewers and create a fan base. This idea of narrative complexity stems from the balance between both television s traditional episodic form and serial form. ABC s breakout television show, How to Get Away with Murder, is an example of a program that implements devices such as nonlinear storytelling and seasonal arcs in order to develop a complex narrative that fosters engagement in audiences and comments on contemporary TV viewing. In his book, Complex TV: The Poetics of Contemporary Television Storytelling, Mittell argues that different media has an operational aesthetic that conforms to the conceptualization of a form of television storytelling called narrative complexity . In order to explain the notion of operational aesthetic, in class Professor Jackson explained that it is the way that media makers orchestrate the plot, narrative and story of a television show in an unusual way. • 57. The Rocket Boys The Rocket Boys Homer Hickam Jr. For my reading assignment, I chose The Rocket Boys by Homer Hickam Jr. It is an autobiography written more like a fiction novel about a high school aged boy, Homer, who lived in a coal mining town named Coalwood. He tries to please everyone he knows with whatever he does. He seems genuine and puts a lot of work into everything he does. One thing I noticed about Homer that is most admirable is that he did not give up when he needed something. If he needed to get supplies for his rockets, he would do whatever he could to get them. He would trade for supplies, do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
