Hephzibah Middle School Research Paper
There once was a girl named Tiffany Greene, me. This year is my first year attending Hephzibah
Middle School. Therefore nobody really know me. When I got here at Hephzibah I was shy and I
rarely spoke to anyone. My first impression of Hephzibah Middle School was that it was very large
and also had lots of people. If you fast forward along my school year I hit quite a few bumps in the
road. Therefore my school year was kinda bad. It all started in the cafeteria. The girl was completely
out of order and she was also rude, mean, and had no manners at all. She was just selfish. She cared
about herself and only her. She didn t like me and the feelings were mutual. But I didn t care if she
didn t like me. We went through a time when I thought I

The Graphic Memoir Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
It did not take me very long to get through the graphic memoir, Persepolis not only because it is a sort
of comic book, but because I could not put it down. I chose to read the interview between Robert Root
and Marjane Satrapi instead of the TED talk because I love the raw dialogue between the two.
Through this interview, Satrapi s strong independence and blunt words ring through loud and clear just
as her character in Persepolis. I find her honesty very refreshing, I have always said, even verbally,
orally, that I was nasty. I am very much a fan of imperfection, actually. This idea of perfection I think
really, it s the beginning of the fascism, this idea of perfection . The woman being interview is very
much the young girl that hit her principal then said, oopsy, I didn t mean it!
I can honestly say, that this graphic memoir opened my eyes to the female perspective in Iran during
the time of the Shah to the revolution and beyond. Before reading Persepolis, I had a single worldview
of the Middle East. I thought that women would be treated the same way in most countries as unequal
to a man as it can get. I pictured women unable to have respectable jobs and never being able to show
much more skin than their hands and face. When Satrapi says, The basic culture is not that the woman
is nothing Iran is not Saudi Arabia the women, they are educated, they are cultivated, they work. You
have women that are judges, they are doctors, they are journalists, they work.

The Hero’s Journey Essay
The Hero s Journey
Watching a film, one can easily recognize plot, theme, characterization, etc., but not many realize
what basic principle lies behind nearly every story conceived: the hero s journey. This concept allows
for a comprehensive, logical flow throughout a movie. Once the hero s journey is thoroughly
understood, anyone can pick out the elements in nearly every piece. The hero s journey follows a
simple outline. First the hero in question must have a disadvantaged childhood. Next the hero will find
a mentor who wisely lays out his/her prophecy. Third the hero will go on a journey, either literal or
figurative, to find him/herself. On this journey the hero will be discouraged and nearly quit his/her
quest. Finally, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and Jamal helping Forrester break out of his protective bubble and experience life again. Throughout
the movie the odd couple each must face tests and tribulations, culminating in a spectacularly moving
finale. Although the film does not fall into the epic/action category, the hero s journey surely can be
found.
The hero s journey usually follows a certain rubric with little variation. These films are no exceptions.
In Star Wars, Luke Skywalker is without a doubt a disadvantaged youth. His parents have died, and he
lives under his aunt and uncle who spurn his attempts to leave the farm and make it on his own.
Through a chance meeting, Luke finds himself a mentor, the wise recluse, Ben Kenobi. Kenobi tells
Luke of amazing battles throughout the galaxy, sparking his inborn interest in the stars. Later in the
film, after his aunt and uncle are murdered, Luke finds himself thrust into an ongoing intergalactic war
between the evil Empire and the rebellion. It is here that Luke

Roof Replacement Estimate
You ve decided you need a new roof. Several contractors have given you estimates. How do you know
which is right for you? It is important to understand exactly what the contractor is proposing when
making a decision on your roof replacement. There are usually several products/services included on
most re roofing quotes. SHINGLES The primary item on a roof replacement estimate is the actual
roofing material. The estimate will list the manufacturer and type of shingles the contractor intends to
use. It will also show the style of shingle. Architectural or dimensional shingles are the most popular.
They create more interest and often mimic the look of other roofing materials such as slate or tile. It

Because of the amount of water passing through that area of a roof, it is important to consider how the
area will be protected when replacing an asphalt shingle roof. There are different methods for
shingling the area with dimensional asphalt roofing material. Closed cut valleys are most popular
aesthetically. In a closed cut valley application, shingles from one side of the valley extend across the
valley while shingles from the other side are trimmed back a few inches from the valley centerline.
Any flashing is not exposed. When using the open cut valley roofing method the flashing is visible.
Open cut valleys may be used to create visual interest or enhance features on some design styles.
Some contractors will use ice and water shield under the shingles, others will choose to install metal
flashing. Further, some contractors will install both for extra protection. A professional roofing
contractor will consider many factors and make a recommendation as to the best method and style for
the specific project. A detailed estimate will include these recommendations. RIDGE

The Birth Of Virtual Teams
Abstract Teams have always contributed significantly towards the successful operation of any
organization. Traditionally, team members had to endure the challenges of time, distance, and even
cultural differences in order to successfully complete a team activity. However, recent advancements
in technology have led to the birth of virtual teams. The paper aims to explore the effectiveness and
differences ofvirtual teamsas compared to face to face teams. The evaluation will be on the basis of
dimensions such as performance, cohesion, conflict, trust and satisfaction among others.
Introduction
Due to the recent increased utilization of information communication technology in organizations,
there has been a rising trend of the adoption of virtual teams. These teams have helped organizations
conduct their businesses in a very effective way. In furtherance of that, these teams have also helped in
enhancing the speed at which communication is carried out. For instance, team members in different
countries or continents can actually contribute ideas for a project in real time via electronic means
(Hendrickson, 1998). However, these groups have faced some criticisms which have made them to be
underutilized. Some of the issues raised against these teams include lack of involvement and
inclusiveness, lack of trust, lack of employees with technical and interpersonal skills and lack of
cohesion among others. Past research has revealed that virtual teams have proved to be effective,

The Economic Effect Of Shrimp Farming
Shrimp farming constitutes major economic activity in aquaculture in countries like China, Thailand,
Indonesia, Vietnam, Ecuador and India, representing 80% of the global shrimp production (Dastidar,
Mallik, and Mandal 2013). Ecuador has a long history in aquaculture, especially in the production of
farm raised shrimp that is consider an important premium product for the Ecuadorians economy. It is
the second highest non oil export product, only after bananas (Lopez, Ruiz, and Moncayo 2016). It is
considered an important product, providing 7 percent of the worlds shrimp that is consumed.
According to the National Aquaculture Chamber of Ecuador, Ecuador exports in higher scale to
international markets that include: Asia (27%), Europe (33%), United State (27%), and Asia (42%);
and in smaller scale to other Latin American countries such as: Chile, Bolivia, Colombia and Uruguay
(FAO 2016). More than 95 percent of Ecuadorian aquaculture corresponds to marine shrimp, mainly
white leg shrimp (Litopenaesu vannamei) and a smaller proportion, of blue shrimp (Penaeus
stylirostris). According to the National Aquaculture chamber of Ecuador, in 2014, Ecuador exported in
USD 1520 million shrimp. In 2015, it supplied 170 million pounds of shrimp to the U.S, out of the
719 million pounds it exported worldwide. The actual production is around 500,000 pounds per year,

Communication and Professional Relationships with Children...
Unit Title: Communication and professional relationships with children young people and adults
OCR Unit 1
1) 1.1 Effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young
people and adults in all walks of life and at any age whether it be with relatives, friends, neighbours,
colleagues, associates or even total strangers. Also, effective language skills are essential for children
to access the curriculum. In the classroom, spoken language is the main way that teachers teach and
children learn. Therefore if the skill of communicating in an effective manner isn t learned or grasped
at an early age then it could lead to various complications in terms of interacting with other people, be
it in the home or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Say for instance that a child is born in the U.K to parents of a different nationality or is brought up in a
multicultural and diverse community where the use of the English language is influenced by many
different nationalities then communication in a school setting would have to be adapted further to
accommodate these variables.
2.3 The main differences between communicating with adults and communicating with young people
are complexity. When most adults share dialogue they can usually converse without being conscious
about using synonyms and simple sentences to be understood whereas with young people
communicating with simplicity becomes important if it s going to be effective. Vocabulary is another
difference to consider because adults tend to subconsciously communicate at the limits of their
linguistic knowledge but with young people and children, vocabulary needs to be tailored to meet
them at their level. Adults can generally communicate effectively with each other with little or no
detail through the use of body language and non verbal gestures, however for a young person who is
still developing their communication skills this mode of interaction may not be the most appropriate
depending on the circumstance and setting.
2.4 The need to adapt communication to meet different communication needs of adults depends on
factors such as age, culture, nationality, ethnicity and disability. For

The Positive And Negative Impacts Of Social Media
Over 60% of 13 to 17 year olds have at least one profile on social media, with many spending more
than two hours a day on social networking sites. Social media are computer mediated technologies
that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, career interests, and other forms of
expression via virtual networks and communities. Some of the most popular social media sites being
Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Tumblr. These sites have more than 100,000,000 users. So it
brings up the question ; Is social media ok? Observers have noted a range of positive and negative
impacts of social media use. Although it can be addictive and serves as an outlet for a hybrid bully that
can hide behind a screen, which is often referenced as Cyber bullying, it also forms an inevitable
platform for people to connect to the world. While social media can be harmful it is more handy than
destructive. It is a way to spread awareness, express oneself, provide comical relief and help one to
meet others.
Social media is the easiest way to spread awareness. For example, in 2014 it seemed that pro athletes
all the way to your local barber were dumping buckets of ice cold water over their bodies to show
support for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis patients. Over the 2 months that people were participating
in the ALS challenge it raised 115 million dollars. Due to Anthony
Senerchia getting his story out to the internet it allowed the web to do its thing and notify billions of
people and use all the money that was made thanks to social media to conduct research. Social
2
media allows one sad story to be spread by reposting the story from just one account and then to be
shared to hundreds of other people s timeline. In order to be deemed trending at least 1k shares need to
be reposted. After this is accomplished leave it all to a touch of a button for the story to spread to even
the most remote places in the world. Even if a person doesn t directly follow someone that reposted it
will be brought to their attention through their peers likes, retweets, etc.
One important aspect of life is knowing who you are. A way to figure it out or realize what you are
into is by looking at what profiles you are following. Many people are

The Effect Of Anti Microbial Products On Zone Of Inhibition
The Effect of Anti Microbial Products on Zone of Inhibition
Background Information:
Bacteria, singular form bacterium, are microorganisms which belong to their own animal kingdom
Kingdom Monera. All bacteria are alive and require to reproduce and eat. In the experiment, the
bacteria used is called Staphylococcus aureus, which can cause a variety of diseases (e.g. meningitis,
boils and abscesses, osteomyelitis, pneumonia etc.). Various strains of Staphylococcus aureus are
resistant to some antibiotics and has become a health concern. As more and more antibiotics are used
to treat bacterial infections/diseases, eventually there will be a point when the bacterium will grow
immune to it. Thus, this makes Staphylococcus aureus serious as it almost completely immune to
benzyl penicillin.
Within the experimented there were three different anti microbial products that were investigated
Bosisto s Eucalyptus Oil 200mL, Bleach and Coles Methylated Spirits.
According to the bottle with the eucalyptus oil, it had claimed that it is 100% pure with
pharmaceutical eucalyptus oil derived from Eucalyptus polybractera (Blue Mallee). This product can
be applied on minor wounds, cold and flu symptoms, aches and pains, stains, clothing as well as
cleaning but has no claims about what percentage of bacteria it kills but online sources claim it as one
of the most effective methods of curing Staphylococcus aureus.
The bleach used in the practical had no claims but according to online

Body Ritual Among The Nacirema Summary
Prompt #1 Horace Miner s Body Ritual among the Nacirema was a very entertaining essay. The essay
made made fun of American culture without directly stating the name of the culture, other than
including the word American spelled backwards. Miner bring to the reader s attention the odd rituals
practiced in America that the normal citizen would not find strange at all. However, by presenting his
essay in this form he shows how strange American customs are from the view of someone in a
different country. Miner begins his essay by describing the American culture as if it were a tribe.
Although he does so secretly, Horace Miner does state that the tribe is located between Canada and
Mexico. He then states that they have a developed market, yet they re main concern is on the body. He
then goes on to talk about the ritual areas in the homes on the Nacirema people, bathrooms, where the
people practice they re odd rituals. He does not use direct terms for the medicine men, nor any of the
other physicians that are seen in the daily lives of American people. Miner continues this process
while only leaving slight hints. Horace Miner does a terrific job in this satire. Once view of this paper
is noticed, the reader can be entertained by the mysterious ways of the Nacerima people. This essay
has brought attention to the ways of American culture, which is not only informative but very
entertaining. Prompt #2 never run, just WALK and ENJOY My life motto has always

The Scales Of Measurement, Ordinal Scale, Interval And Ratio
In this write up, the different scales of measurement, nominal scale, ordinal scale, interval and ratio
are discussed, including examples of test types that would usually employ them. Also, measures of
central tendency, and measures of variability and their effect on test suitability are addressed in the
second half of this piece. The Four Scales of Measurement Scales of measurement defines a
framework wherein numbers are assigned to objects based on a set of rules (Thorndike Thorndike
Christ, 2009). These authors presented four different types of scales of measurement as ordinal,
nominal, ratio and interval. Nominal Scale Thorndike Thorndike Christ (2009) described a nominal
scale as a measurement type wherein each number takes on the meaning of a verbal label (p. 27). For
example, in an assessment of students on a campus, girls could be labeled number 1, and the girls,
number 2. In this case, the values are mutually exclusive, and the labels have no numerical
significance. Assessment that would use a nominal scale could be practically any measure that affixes
labels to constructs for assessments. For example, the Interprofessional Competency Model for
Healthcare Leadership is an assessment model that measures constructs developed into competency
models, such as analytical thinking, community orientation, financial skills, and initiative (Calhoun,
Dollett, Sinioris, Wainio, Butler, Griffith, Warden, 2008). Ordinal Scale Next, an ordinal scale
describes the order

Energy Is An Important Part Of Human Evolution
Energy has been an important part of human evolution. Ever since human began development, energy
was a major factor. We need energy for everything we do. Heat is one of many types of energy, and it
is a very important type of energy. We use heat to warm our shelter, drive cars. Heat transfer is one of
the most obvious processes in the nature. It occurs at all the places such as machine, biological
creatures, etc... In engineering this heat transfer is a key part of understanding heat energy. The study
of heat behaviour and harnessing heat energy is called thermodynamics. Thermodynamics is used for
many areas such as nuclear power plant, car engines, etc... This essay will cover topics such as, what
is energy, and what makes it useful? , what is thermodynamics, success rate for harnessing and
manipulating energy and how energy is vital to us all and how we use it.
Firstly, energy is a power produced from physical or chemical resources, such as heat provided to
work the machines. It defines the capacity for doing the work, generating heat, etc... There are many
types of energies such as mechanical, electrical, thermal, nuclear, etc... This essay will cover thermal
energy. Thermal energy is the random motion of particles in the substance. An example of this
situation would be warming a cup of water, where water particles gets in random motion when heated.
The uses of thermal energy are very broad. Thermal energy is used in simple tasks such as a coffee

East Asian Reaction to European Presence Essay
In the fifteenth century, Europeans started to seek treasures in Asia. Their goals were to search
resources and markets and spread Christianity. They found spice and sugar in South Asia. At that time,
South Asian countries were not strong enough to restrict European s activities on their own land.
However, when Europeans tried to enter East Asian, the East Asian countries such as China and Japan
set strict rules to prevent their countries from European powers. Chinese emperors strictly limited
European merchants activities in China and did not want to corporate with them. In the seventeenth
century, China was dominated by the Qing dynasty. Emperors of Qing dynasty closed all ports that

Time Essay
Time
Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This
broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many scientists,
philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. The aspects of time
that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and calculate.
Every day we look at our watches or clocks. We plan our day around different times of the day. Time
tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and how long to do things for. If time were based on these simple
terms, then this mysterious enigma would not be in debate. There are the issues of space and time;
what is the relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When space and the universe began, the existence of time also began. This theory is well known as the
Big
Bang Theory. About fifteen billion years ago, the universe was comprised of very hot compressed gas,
as a fireball.
This is contrary to the idea of the universe beginning as a lump of matter somewhere in the void of
space. Matter was created as a result of the Big Bang. Space and time was also created. So, with these
ideas, time had a beginning.
Looking at it a different way, in the early universe, the normal concept of time is uncertain. Our
accepted perceptions, and calculations of time can t be explained all the way back to the Big Bang.
There is no way to define time in that era. This is another way that time has a beginning; as far back as
we can calculate. Space time began at the same time. According to Hawking, you can t look at the
universe using general relativity without finding a big bang or something similar to that at the very
beginning. So what does time mean to people now? Time is different as you go through time zones.
Everyone has their own perception of time. Nobody is ever on the same schedule, doing things exactly
like another person. Even to go as far as other galaxies and planets, time cannot be existing on the
same terms. In short, time is not absolute.
In the space time continuum, space bends whenever there is a mass. It s kind of like a bowling ball

genuine talent and fierce determination. And Erin McAndrew is certainly all that and more. Recently, I
was able to ask her a few questions about how she got started in music, her involvement in the music
industry so far, and what she has planned for the near (and even distant) future.

RH: What inspired you to become a musician? What were your early music influences?
EM: I ve always loved music. I loved singing and dancing from a very young age. My earliest musical
influences were Broadway musicals and pop music. When I was thirteen, my family moved from an
itty bitty town to a Philadelphia suburb and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While social media and digital music has given fans more access to music, ensuring that one s music
is heard above the maddening crowd can be a seemingly insurmountable task. Thankfully, the
undaunted Erin has made the decision to leap into this industry, and the desire of her heart is to make a
living doing what she loves to do. She is enamored with the arts, and as she shares her gifts with the
world, she recognizes that in order to be a success in this business, she must have patience and take
each and every opportunity for advancement that she can. Already she is setting herself apart by
utilizing YouTube as a place to display her array of talents, and while some days it might be an uphill
battle, she has the positive attitude and sunny disposition (not to mention the energy and optimism of
youth) to guarntee that she continues her quest of accomplishing every dream within her heart. While
she is far from a household name in music, she seems to understand even at her age that overnight
success is a myth, and she is aware of the fact that perseverance is the key to success. I would invite
everyone to check out her music and social media accounts below so that you may experience her
talent firsthand and support this young musician. Furthermore, you

Pros And Cons Of Genetic Engineering
Since the dawn of time, humans have pondered the very roots of their existence. Through religion,
many filled the void of their origin with a creation story, but with relatively recent discoveries, the
origin of humans has been revealed. Charles Darwin s ideas on natural selection and evolution led the
way for this new facet of thought. His findings were widely rejected at first but paved the way for
more progress. Shortly after, Gregor Mendel was able to prove inheritance with pea plants. A plethora
of other discoveries throughout the twentieth century allowed for a process called genetic engineering.
But, what is genetic engineering? By manipulating the recombination of DNA, scientists are able to
change an organism. They have found that they can use viruses to inject therapeutic genes into
humans. Through this process, people are now able to control specific genes in an organism for more
desirable traits. This has been used in the industry of food, medicine, and in various other sciences.
(Britannica, Genetic Engineering )
In the farming and food industries, the utilization of genetic engineering is very common. It began in
the 1990s with cotton plants. Scientists discovered that its DNA could be manipulated to create
beneficial changes. These changes included resistance to antibiotics, resistance to herbicide and
introduction of more nutrients and vitamins ( History of Genetically Modified Foods, 2004). Also,
scientists are able to use genetic

The Value Of Liberal Education
Value of Liberal Education in Today s Society There are many different things that we value. Someone
рrefers business as it sees its success, someone is trying to succeed in рolitics. Each рerson looks at
things differently. But there is a grouр that can not be severely criticized and is considered as a very
imрortant рart of our lives it is education. Liberal education is one of the basic values of modern
society and it рlays a very imрortant role in our lives. Liberal education creates lots of ways to go
ahead in the future. It makes us strong mentally, socially and intellectually by increasing our
knowledge level, technical skills and good рosition in the job. All successful careers require critical
thinking, teamwork, sensitivity to cultural, economic and societal differences and рolitical
рersрectives. A liberal arts education рrovides this grounding. So, liberal education is an imрortant
tool that is aррlied in the contemрorary world to succeed, as it mitigates the challenges which are
faced in life. Throughout the history of humanity education is highly valued. I think рrogress is mainly
deрendent on highly educated рeoрle. A рerson becomes a highly qualified sрecialist after receiving
education. With liberal education we get knowledge about the world and life. Many famous
discoveries would have been imрossible if рeoрle were not interested in learning anything. Education

The Technology Implementation Plan
Technology Implementation
Introduction
When deploying new products into an organization that contain elements you do no have experience
with, like new technology, considered the human factors in the implementation process to reduce
issues that may arise. When implementing new technology within a company, make sure that end
users contribute into the design process and that the end user will benefit from the change. Managers
should communicate constantly and effectively, involve employees, and leadership to endorse the
technology and the change process.

Unexpected changes may be disruptive, and leadership may encounter resistance. To manage
technology changes the first step is to understand technology dynamics, and resistance it generates.
According to Regan and O Conner (2002), managing organizational changes requires understanding
the variables and their interdependencies; creating a climate for learning; recognizing new power
distributions and handling complexity, ambiguity, and uncertainty. Of course, technology changes take
a toll on the employee s morale and managerial time and emotion. Sometimes plans are abandoned
because of strong employee resistance or because the managers feel unprepared or unable to
implement the changes successfully. (Chapter 11.2.2 Technology Brings Change).
e. Communication plans
First in order for the goals and objectives of the communications plans to succeed, It is very important
that staff involved in this plan are aware of the leaderships support and direction. In addition, leader s
needed to speak positively about the project, and the process changes involved the staff should expect.
Management needs to speak honestly and listen to all levels of the organization. Secondly, if the
organization and its leadership did not adhere to changes proposed by staff involved, resistance is
likely to occur. However, if staff involved were consulted, participant s acceptance is more likely.
Finally, it is important to

Equal Protection Clause Analysis
The Equal Protection Clause of the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution prohibits unreasonable
discrimination. It required the state to treat each person within its jurisdiction with the same manner as
others with similar condition and circumstances. The Equal Protection Clause reads to protect against
the discriminatory use of classifications besides race and national origin, in areas outside of race
discrimination, the equal protection clause was not traditionally a major consideration. Usually, the
Court finds a state classification constitutional if it has a rational basis to a legitimate state purpose.
The Supreme Court, however, has applied more stringent analysis in certain cases [1]. Prior to the
Warren Court, the rational basis test was used for classifications not involving race or national origin,
and the old version of this test did not look to the legitimacy of the state goal at hand. Through the
Warren Court years, two areas were seen to require a higher standard of scrutiny rather than the
rational basis test. First, the concept of suspect classifications developed as an area in which strict
scrutiny was required. This included the classifications of race and national origin, and while it leaves
room for other classifications subjected just to the rational basis test, no other classifications have
been clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rational basis review is not the same as stated above. In its current form, it asks whether there is some
rational relationship between disparity of treatment and some legitimate governmental purpose. A state
need not produce any evidence demonstrating the rationality of the classification at issue, and that
when a law is passed, the legislature does not need to articulate any purpose or rationale supporting
the classification

The Science Of Human Cloning
The science of human cloning is one of the most fascinating entities of the 21st century biology. The
announcement of a cloned sheep ignited an international debate in the late 1990s; two and half
decades later, the debate is still very much alive (Li 1 2). The researchers at the Roslin Institute,
Scotland, announced that they had fruitfully cloned an adult mammal (Caplan 1 3). The procedure
used in cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. It involves the transfer of the genetic code from
the cell of an adult organism into an enucleated organism egg. Over the years, the science of cloning
has found widespread application including human experiments. Ethicists, theologians, scientists,
physicians, legislators, and concerned citizens have intensely debated the idea cloning from
multivariate viewpoints. The National Bioethics Advisory Commission has reviewed with respect to
its implications. It has come up with findings that of interest in this essay, top most being the increased
potential of misuse of cloning by rogue scientists.
A huge number of scientists are not necessarily interested in producing human clones; their primary
goal is to use some exceedingly young embryos to obtain cloned human cells capable of curing
diseases. There is no doubt that cloning provides an array medical possibilities, including
transplanting of vital organs damaged during an accident. Another possible scenario would be the
supposition that a person would become sick with a disease that

Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder that affects the body s movements, balance, and position
(CDC, 2015). The condition can affect parts or the entire body, and it can impair motor function from
assisted walking, to the use of a wheelchair (McMahon, Pruitt, Vargus Adams, 2009). Due to the
variations in the condition, it is difficult to find a set treatment plan, so often cerebral palsy patients
undergo various therapy programs, in order to find one that produces the greatest outcome. Currently,
forms of therapy such as chiropractic, massage, and stretching are used in conjunction with regular
occupational and physical therapy sessions. Chiropractic interventions are a commonly used and
accepted therapy that helps relieve arthritis, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We do believe that modified suit therapy can be an effective therapy treatment; however, due to the
lack of research conducted, we cannot confirm the hypothesis. Due to the physical and neurological
aspects of suit therapy, it is more beneficial than traditional therapy techniques such as chiropractic
and massage therapy. This is important, because it is always favorable when we make positive
breakthroughs in the medical field. At the end of the day, if this treatment is helping patients manage
cerebral palsy better, it will be more likely for physical and occupational therapists to pick it up and
use it during treatment sessions. The case study articles by Rosenbaum (2003) and Ko, Lee, Kang, and
Jeon (2014) both positively contribute in the favoring of suit therapy. It also gave us a good look at the
benefits that can come along with using it. The article by Anne Turner was also good to read, because
it helped remind us that even though suit therapy seems like a great idea, there are many unanswered
questions surrounding this this therapy. Suit therapy does have a lot of potential to benefit many
children with cerebral palsy. Overall, there has been limited research conducted on this topic, and

Child Sexual Abuse Essay
Child Sexual Abuse
Sexual abuse to a child at times is confusing to the family. Families who are affected by sexual abuse
to a child tend to have a difficult time talking about the abuse. About one out of every four girls and
one out of every five boys are sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old. Sexual abuse to
children happens across every socioeconomic status, ethnic, cultural, religion and education. Getting
treatment for a victim of child sexual abuse is a difficult process because of the lack of trust by the

Children are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there are risk factors to consider that would
make one child more of a target compared to another child. The three risk factors that are related to
sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child knows
his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how
many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual
abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children between the ages of three to five
years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of sexual abuse. Children need to
have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If
unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk
factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from
the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child
things that the family can t buy for the child, listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The
level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have
marital problems. Once trust is established this is when the perpetrator will sexually abuse a child.

turmoil not only in the years of the war, but in the years following the war as well. The terrifying
events that occurred in Vietnam forced the soldiers to become different people with only one thing on
their mind, survival. In Tim O Brien s novel The Things They Carried, it is seen how the war
negatively impacted the soldiers of the Alpha Company and changed their personalities severely. One
of the main changes that is seen in the men is the loss of innocence that accompanies them as they

At first, as Kiley interacts with the water buffalo, he seems friendly towards the animal, offering it

situation shows a loss of innocence because under normal circumstances, a regular person would not
have killed the animal for no reason. After the buffalo has died, Mitchell Saunders says, Well that s

reflects Kiley s loss of innocence because he is committing a sin that is horrific and unnecessary in
nature all due to the death of a friend. It also shows that Kiley had no sense of control in this situation
because hatred overcame him due to the death of Lemon. Scholar Rosalind Poppleton Pritchard also
believes that the slaying of the buffalo was done in part of Kiley s personal agony.
The baby buffalo and Rat are united in their dumb anguish: Rat has no way of articulating the pain he
feels through language; it is an animal instinct, a response to signal, and he maims the creature in an
almost suicidal attempt to end his own suffering (Poppleton Pritchard 4).

Dangers Of Social Cohesion
There are many different ideas about humanity and how it works and what things make it work the
best. There are some sociology theorist have a more positive view on humanity and believe that
humanity works best when people have relationships and more human interaction thus creating society
and its regulations as we know them. There are many benefits of social cohesion, but there are also
downfalls of this as well according to some theorist and these are referred to as social control. Social
cohesion is when those in a social system identify with it and feel bound to support it, especially its
norms, beliefs, and values. Social control is how a community or society regulates a person s behavior.
Ultimately, the benefits of social cohesion outweigh the dangers of social control. Without the benefits
of social cohesion, the dangers of social control would be intensified because of the lack thereof.
Durkheim, Erikson, Putnam and Collins are theorists who all take a stance on the benefits of social
cohesion. Some of their ideas are identical to one another or have some similar points and all connect
in some way. Durkheim says that social cohesion protects people from anomie and anomic suicide.
Anomie is defined as the lack of social integration and regulation or the lack of the usual social or
ethical standards in an individual or group. During a period if anomie, people feel disconnected from
their society because they no longer see the norms and values that they are

Depression And Its Effects On Children
Depression in Adolescents The mind is full of emotions, knowledge, memories, and much more. The
adolescent stage is very complex where a child is attacked with different emotions and events where
they begin to feel excluded from society. In this stage, teens start using their mind for moral behavior
and decision making. This is when children, begin puberty and start an irregular hormonal stage. As
physical characteristics change in a teen s body also does the perception of themselves start to develop
in their mind. For example, when teenagers are not acknowledged by their peers they begin to exclude
themselves from the outside world. Additionally, if the teen feels out of place they start isolating
themselves from society and start a long journey of depressive thoughts. Depression is a mood

supported Perdiccas were given parts of the Empire in the partition of Babylon. This sparked later
wars between them which are known as the wars of the Diadochi (which means successors ). Ten
years earlier in 333 BC Alexander conquered Egypt and was regarded by the people as a liberator or a
deliverer. At this time he also established Alexandria which became the capital of Egypt for many
years. Alexander left Clemonenes of Naucratis as nomarch of the Arabian district of Egypt. Clemones
was a dishonest man who did anything for money. He cheated his own soldiers out of a month s pay.
He made money by taking advantage of the people and even used their superstitions to earn money at
their expense. He held his position until Ptolemy arrived in Egypt. Ptolemy was the son of Arsinoe of
Macedon and his father is unknown. Some ancients described him as an illegitimate son of Philip II of
Macedon; if true this would make him a half brother to Alexander the Great. He was one of Alexander
s most trusted generals. He was also a close friend since childhood.
After the death of Alexander, Ptolemy was appointed Satrap by Perdiccas during the partition of
Babylon. Clemonenes was left as hyparch under him. Ptolemy was not fond of Perdiccas; He later

Descriptive Narrative Story
In hindsight, I realize I was not ready for a job, maybe I was just too immature. That Thursday night,
in what felt like an empty cold room, I lay there crying, wishing for everything to be over. It all started
the day I turned 15, I was just a young man, who for some reason decided that it was time to get a real
job.
I woke up that hot summer day and decided that it was time I go out and apply for some jobs. I chose
to apply at my favorite restaurant, not knowing that it would be one of the worst ideas I have ever had.
I remember it took about three weeks for a response, those three weeks felt like years waiting and
waiting not hearing a thing, until finally I got the call. I remember walking in for my interview all
dressed up, with my hair looking shinier than the paint on my car, slicked back like G Eazy.
As I walked in I was greeted by the store manager a middle aged woman with wildly frizzy hair, her
face resembling someone who just ran a 5K. Rushing me to a table she sat down quickly, short of
breath, she makes out the words Hi my name is Meeghan . Nervously, I greeted her instantly Andrew,
Andrew Sherman nice to meet you realizing how dumb that sounded I felt a rush through my body,
my face getting hotter and hotter as if I just drank a whole bottle of sriracha. I could not believe how
fast I got nervous, I thought for sure there wasn t going to be a problem because I practiced this one
interview at least a thousand times.
During the interview Meeghan brought me

Enduring Love Wickham In Pride And Prejudice
Cowans 4 why he disliked Wickham and how he took advantage of his sister. Elizabeth still wasn t
convinced. Elizabeth had lost trust in Darcy and he would have to earn her trust again. Elizabeth and
Jane returned home after all this had happened. Upon returning home they find out that their younger
sister was trying to leave with Colonel Forster and his wife. Elizabeth warned her father that this
would be a bad idea to left Lydia go. Mr. Bennet decided to let Lydia go any way. Austen really made
it seem like these people were running from or to their problems because they were constantly taking
trips. Elizabeth took a trip with the Gardiners. Pemberley which was Mr. Darcy s estate was one of the
stops on this trip. Almost everyone in this novel seemed to have so mental issues. Why ... Show more

Wickham. Once Darcy learned of this news from Elizabeth, he felt somewhat responsible because he
didn t tell anyone about Wickham evil behavior. The Gardiner took Elizabeth back to Longbourn to be
with her family. Mrs. Bennet was being crazy as usual and then they learned that Wickham had
gambling debts. None of this news was good. Mr. Bennett and Mr. Gardiner were looking for Lydia
and Wickham, but after no luck Mr. Bennet returned home. Mr. Gardiner continued to look and found
them. Wickham said he would marry Lydia but there is a price. He wants her father to give her equal
shares of his wealth. Mr. Bennet was still confused about who paid Wickham debts. He thought that
maybe Mr. Gardiner did it. Even though Lydia married a crook, her mother was still excited that one
of her daughter was married. Mrs. Bennet was only focused on getting her daughter married and not
their well being. Lydia and Wickham came back to visit and Lydia told Elizabeth that Darcy was at her
wedding to Wickham. At issue are assumptions about the selfishness and instability of men s love.

Jupiter Comet Research Paper
March 24, 1993, Carolyn and Eugene Shoemaker, along with David Levy peered up at the sky just
like they had so many nights before. This night, however, would be unlike any they had experienced
before.
The trio was always on the watch for NEOs, or near earth objects, but this particular sighting would
bring realizations about not only the interaction of comets, but of the safety of Earth itself in our solar
system. The comet was reported to be about one arc minute long and was said to have faint tail. Not
long after the original sighting, it was confirmed by James Scotti of the University of Arizona s
Spacewatch Program, it was the fifth confirmed in 1993. Many teams tried to determine the size of the
original comet, before it broke into the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning July 16, Jupiter was hit with a barrage of comet fragments, the science world watched with
much anticipation eager to see what would be revealed by
Shoemaker Levy 9, and it did not disappoint. Over the course of six days fragment after fragment
smashed into Jupiter, although all impacts were on the side of Jupiter facing away from Earth, some
happened so near the visible side that scientists were seeing the surface mere minutes after impact.
After the beating was over, Jupiter had many new scars, and Earth had many new fears about space,
could Earth could ever be on the receiving end of something like they had just witnessed, and if it
was... would we live to tell of it?
Now over twenty years after its impact, the scars on Jupiter still show its strength against this could be
planet killer, and what we learned from Shoemaker Levy 9 is still not fully understood. Scientists still
debate whether it was a comet or asteroid, if similar impacts had taken place before, and when exactly
the comet began orbiting

When I got here at Hephzibah I was shy and I rarely spoke to anyone. My first impression of Hephzibah Middle School was that it was very large and also had lots of people. If you fast forward along my school year I hit quite a few bumps in the road. Therefore my school year was kinda bad. It all started in the cafeteria. The girl was completely out of order and she was also rude, mean, and had no manners at all. She was just selfish. She cared about herself and only her. She didn t like me and the feelings were mutual. But I didn t care if she didn t like me. We went through a time when I thought I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Graphic Memoir Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi It did not take me very long to get through the graphic memoir, Persepolis not only because it is a sort of comic book, but because I could not put it down. I chose to read the interview between Robert Root and Marjane Satrapi instead of the TED talk because I love the raw dialogue between the two. Through this interview, Satrapi s strong independence and blunt words ring through loud and clear just as her character in Persepolis. I find her honesty very refreshing, I have always said, even verbally, orally, that I was nasty. I am very much a fan of imperfection, actually. This idea of perfection I think really, it s the beginning of the fascism, this idea of perfection . The woman being interview is very much the young girl that hit her principal then said, oopsy, I didn t mean it! I can honestly say, that this graphic memoir opened my eyes to the female perspective in Iran during the time of the Shah to the revolution and beyond. Before reading Persepolis, I had a single worldview of the Middle East. I thought that women would be treated the same way in most countries as unequal to a man as it can get. I pictured women unable to have respectable jobs and never being able to show much more skin than their hands and face. The Scales Of Measurement, Ordinal Scale, Interval And Ratio In this write up, the different scales of measurement, nominal scale, ordinal scale, interval and ratio are discussed, including examples of test types that would usually employ them. Also, measures of central tendency, and measures of variability and their effect on test suitability are addressed in the second half of this piece. The Four Scales of Measurement Scales of measurement defines a framework wherein numbers are assigned to objects based on a set of rules (Thorndike Thorndike Christ, 2009). These authors presented four different types of scales of measurement as ordinal, nominal, ratio and interval. Nominal Scale Thorndike Thorndike Christ (2009) described a nominal scale as a measurement type wherein each number takes on the meaning of a verbal label (p. 27). For example, in an assessment of students on a campus, girls could be labeled number 1, and the girls, number 2. In this case, the values are mutually exclusive, and the labels have no numerical significance. Assessment that would use a nominal scale could be practically any measure that affixes labels to constructs for assessments. For example, the Interprofessional Competency Model for Healthcare Leadership is an assessment model that measures constructs developed into competency models, such as analytical thinking, community orientation, financial skills, and initiative (Calhoun, Dollett, Sinioris, Wainio, Butler, Griffith, Warden, 2008). About fifteen billion years ago, the universe was comprised of very hot compressed gas, as a fireball. So, with these ideas, time had a beginning. Looking at it a different way, in the early universe, the normal concept of time is uncertain. Our accepted perceptions, and calculations of time can t be explained all the way back to the Big Bang. There is no way to define time in that era. Through religion, many filled the void of their origin with a creation story, but with relatively recent discoveries, the origin of humans has been revealed. Charles Darwin s ideas on natural selection and evolution led the way for this new facet of thought. His findings were widely rejected at first but paved the way for more progress. Shortly after, Gregor Mendel was able to prove inheritance with pea plants. A plethora of other discoveries throughout the twentieth century allowed for a process called genetic engineering. But, what is genetic engineering? By manipulating the recombination of DNA, scientists are able to change an organism. • 25. Equal Protection Clause Analysis The Equal Protection Clause of the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution prohibits unreasonable discrimination. It required the state to treat each person within its jurisdiction with the same manner as others with similar condition and circumstances. The Equal Protection Clause reads to protect against the discriminatory use of classifications besides race and national origin, in areas outside of race discrimination, the equal protection clause was not traditionally a major consideration. Usually, the Court finds a state classification constitutional if it has a rational basis to a legitimate state purpose. The Supreme Court, however, has applied more stringent analysis in certain cases [1]. Prior to the Warren Court, the rational basis test was used for classifications not involving race or national origin, and the old version of this test did not look to the legitimacy of the state goal at hand. Through the Warren Court years, two areas were seen to require a higher standard of scrutiny rather than the rational basis test. First, the concept of suspect classifications developed as an area in which strict scrutiny was required. This included the classifications of race and national origin, and while it leaves room for other classifications subjected just to the rational basis test, no other classifications have been clearly ... • 26. The Science Of Human Cloning The science of human cloning is one of the most fascinating entities of the 21st century biology. The announcement of a cloned sheep ignited an international debate in the late 1990s; two and half decades later, the debate is still very much alive (Li 1 2). The researchers at the Roslin Institute, Scotland, announced that they had fruitfully cloned an adult mammal (Caplan 1 3). The procedure used in cloning is called somatic cell nuclear transfer. It involves the transfer of the genetic code from the cell of an adult organism into an enucleated organism egg. Over the years, the science of cloning has found widespread application including human experiments. Ethicists, theologians, scientists, physicians, legislators, and concerned citizens have intensely debated the idea cloning from multivariate viewpoints. The National Bioethics Advisory Commission has reviewed with respect to its implications. It has come up with findings that of interest in this essay, top most being the increased potential of misuse of cloning by rogue scientists. A huge number of scientists are not necessarily interested in producing human clones; their primary goal is to use some exceedingly young embryos to obtain cloned human cells capable of curing diseases. There is no doubt that cloning provides an array medical possibilities, including transplanting of vital organs damaged during an accident. The condition can affect parts or the entire body, and it can impair motor function from assisted walking, to the use of a wheelchair (McMahon, Pruitt, Vargus Adams, 2009). Due to the variations in the condition, it is difficult to find a set treatment plan, so often cerebral palsy patients undergo various therapy programs, in order to find one that produces the greatest outcome. Due to the physical and neurological aspects of suit therapy, it is more beneficial than traditional therapy techniques such as chiropractic and massage therapy. This is important, because it is always favorable when we make positive breakthroughs in the medical field. At the end of the day, if this treatment is helping patients manage cerebral palsy better, it will be more likely for physical and occupational therapists to pick it up and use it during treatment sessions. The case study articles by Rosenbaum (2003) and Ko, Lee, Kang, and Jeon (2014) both positively contribute in the favoring of suit therapy. It also gave us a good look at the benefits that can come along with using it. The article by Anne Turner was also good to read, because it helped remind us that even though suit therapy seems like a great idea, there are many unanswered questions surrounding this this therapy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there are risk factors to consider that would make one child more of a target compared to another child. The three risk factors that are related to sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child knows his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children between the ages of three to five years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of sexual abuse. Children need to have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child things that the family can t buy for the child, listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have marital problems. There are many benefits of social cohesion, but there are also downfalls of this as well according to some theorist and these are referred to as social control.
