The Role Of Political Consensus In Pop Culture
Political Consensus and Pop Culture of World War II
World War II continues to be the most tremendous global war throughout history. This war effected
everyone, especially the political beliefs in each country that was involved. In America, the role of pop
culture made an impact on the political consensus of Americans in a constructional manner. During
World War II, the entertainment industry effectively helped produce a national consensus celebrating
the American way of life. Consequently, this patriotism led America s unity to defend their country
against Germany, Italy, Japan, and later the Soviet Union s communism. Pop culture provided many
opportunities of amusement and influenced Americans viewpoint of themselves and their country. But
during 1941, many entertainment industries still had major downfalls due to the war, which puts the
role and destiny of pop culture into question. The resources that entertainment ... Show more content

Ultimately, the trend of music made a tremendous impact on political consensus. For instance, the role
of music made a psychological fighting force, while the government s propaganda office urged the
music industry to produce freedom songs with lots of flags waving. Right after Pearl Harbor
happened, many writers hurried publishers to publish songs encouraged by the event. But the citizens
didn t want war songs; they wanted songs they can relate to, such as songs about home, relationships,
family, and fun. Many war songs expressed loneliness, which was a since of annoyance with wartime
sacrifice and departure. However, the song White Christmas that was not about the war became a hit
in the United States and sort of the anthem for World War II, selling over thirty two million copies.
Basically, pop culture did less to evoke martial spirit among citizens than it did to provide a much
needed diversion from wartime suffering and

Selecting A Baby Formula
First time mothers worry about the best way to feed their baby. Frequently, they rely on the advice of
their friends or mother. There are those that are strong advocates for breast feeding, while others fully
support giving the new infant baby formula. Today, a lot of young moms state that breast feeding is
out of the question for them. Therefore, selecting the right baby formula boils down to more than just
a personal choice. It is important to take time to consider the baby s health and reaction to different
methods. Selecting A Baby Formula The new mother should carefully study her baby and note their
reaction to different methods. Don t rely heavily on the advice from friends or family. What worked
for their baby, might not work for yours.

Effectiveness of Music Therapy Essay
Music is composed of sounds intertwined with melody and rhythm that can have powerful effects on a
person. It can help people focus on tasks or calm the mind. Research has shown that music has
beneficial effects on the mind, body, and health of a person. A journal article by Rastogi, Solanki, and
Zafar (2013) refers, on the contrary, to: Controlled use of music and its influence on the human being
in physiological, psychological, and emotional integration of the individual during treatment of an
illness or disability . Those who oppose music therapy believe it does not work, especially for in the
long term, and that drugs are more efficient and show faster results. Despite those who are against it,
music therapy has become very popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biological Perspective Psychological issues affect people with symptoms of depression and/or anxiety.
Depression is a condition in which a person s main emotions withdraw and there is a prolonged
sadness over a long period of time. Main causes of depression consist of abuse in one s lifetime,
horrific or tragic events and or certain medications. About 121 million people world wide are believed
to suffer from depression (Naurt, 2008). Symptoms consist of low self esteem, disturbed sleep habits,
appetite loss and the feeling of being not wanted; It can lead to suicide and is associated with 1 million
deaths a year (Naurt, 2008). Antidepressants are the common treatment for depression, but music
therapy is becoming increasingly popular. The biological perspective on the anti depressants given to
patients diagnosed with depression can have very horrific side effects. One such group of anti
depressants is Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs): ...there is also an established direct
link between suicide and violent behavior and the use of SSRIs (Tyrell, 2001). Most people stop using
anti depressants because of the drugs side effects. The SSRIs are just one example of malicious effects
anti depressant drugs that can create on people. Another research study completed by Kikuchi,
Mimura, Suzuki, Uchida and Watanabe (2013), affirms their hypothesis that antidepressants has
profound negative effects on patients with

My Journey In My Life
When I was a child, my father always came to me and told me a quote, but over the years I have
changed it into my own and now I live by it everyday: Tomorrow is a brand new day, and a gift from
yesterday. If you ve failed, rise from your ashes and create your own path and leave a trail behind
because you cannot take others paths to live your life. Life is your adventure and what you make of it.
I have always loved life and the people that are in it. Since I was a child I have had the biggest dreams
of going and doing anything I wanted to be and that nothing was going to stop me. To pursue and
make that any dream come true I focused on these three things: being determined, encouraging others,
and hardworking.
To begin with, I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the first semester, we will be shadowing nurses in the Salida Hospital and seeing what they deal
with hand on hand.
With that, I have always loved helping people break not only from their comfort zone but helping
them achieve better than they have before. An example of this is when someone needs help, I ask them
what is stopping them from achieving, I push and make them fight for what they want. This same
tactic is what a nurse needs to help her/him succeed in encouraging patients that they can do it. I
attended the 2017 Summer Student Council Camp, and just telling my story of pushing through my
rough patch in my life encouraged others to say to themselves they don t only have it hard too , and I
saw personally how my story affected them and they pushed harder and took life in a different
perspective.
Additionally, I have always put my heart and soul into all that I do, I have always strived and been a
very hardworker. For instance, I worked weeks on a paper for entering the Sangre De Cristo Youth
Tour for the Colorado Electric Assassination and after all my hours of putting thought and organizing
papers, I won the trip to Washington DC through my Electric Co op, which was an honor all in itself.
After all my recovering after surgery I kept on my game and I was later rewarded as student of the
month. During school hours teachers have to teach instead of printing off their papers, so that is where
I come in. I have been a teacher assistant for

Veterinary Technician
Veterinary Technician There are about 100 organizations of veterinary technicians that exist, state,
local, and provincial across the United States (American Veterinary Medical Association). Out of
those 100 organizations, there were 62,000 employed veterinary technicians in the year of 2004. The
career of Veterinary technician will be investigated for the purpose of learning techniques to increase
an animal s health, providing information will result in determining if pursuing this career will be a
positive choice for the future. This will be researched through job background, education and

about 85% or fewer of all applicants accepted (Career Cruising: Veterinarian). Although WSU is
difficult to get into, and the competition for vet tech is high, WSU has one of the best veterinarian
medicine classes. The total estimated expenses for an instate undergraduate is $15,094. Another
interesting school is Pima Medical Institute in Seattle, Washington. PMI is a 2 year private proprietary

Green Cars Are Not Better Than Conventional Cars
Green cars are not better than Conventional cars
The dramatic increase in driving is causing a more serious environmental problem than ever and it
could be very dangerous unless there are ways to protect the environment. One solution presented to
this environmental problem today is the use of green cars since conventional cars are considered major
polluters. It was argued that replacing conventional cars with green cars could be very beneficial
economically, socially and mainly environmentally.
Green cars such as hybrid cars and electric cars are what most of people are familiar with when they
talk about green cars. These cars are considered to be more environmentally friendly cars as they are
supposed to cause less harm to the environment than conventional cars. They are made to reduce
environmental damage caused by conventional cars which uses an internal combustion engine to burn
fuel. They are also thought to be more advantageous than conventional cars since the cost of gas can
be avoided and a tax deduction id offered from the government. However, it is surprising that green
cars are not really green. It is true that green cars do not emit greenhouse gases, but what we failed to
see is that how these cars, especially electric vehicles and their battery, are manufactured and how the
electricity which powers them is generated. Putting that in consideration, green cars not completely
emission free and they can possibly have an even greater negative impact on the

expansion. The external task environment in which Fix Auto operates in is one which has many
opportunities for Fix Auto, but also many threats.
Policial
Politically, governments are changing how Infrastructure spending is allocated. More taxpayer dollars
are being spent on mass transit initiatives such as the City of Calgary s green line project which aims
to create a new train corridor with the municipal and federal governments guaranteeing a cumulative
$3.08 Billion towards the project ( Green Line , 2016). The implications for the auto industry,

It is mentioned earlier that there are no locations in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and much of their target
market in the United States. Fix Auto needs to focus on their primary objective of becoming the North
American auto body repair chain. Fix Auto is experiencing overexpansion. Overexpansion often
occurs when business owners confuse success with how fast they can expand their business (Schaefer,
2006, Overexpansion.). In a 2005 study done by the Law School at the University of Chicago, It was
found that of the chapter 11 small business Bankruptcies issued in the United States, overexpansion
contributed to a non trivial (Baird Morrison, 2005, Pg. 7, Para. 1) number of cases. The best method
for expansion is steadily and to move to new countries one at a time. (Schaefer, 2006, Overexpansion).
Fix Auto should capitalize on their existing regions such as the United States, Canada, and the United
Kingdom before moving into new markets such as Australia, South Africa and Turkey.
If Fix Auto desires to maximize corporate efficiency, they need to begin operating the differing
regions as separate companies with unique management and hubs. This way, each region is able to
have expertise in local legislation and cultural standards. They need to implement regional strategies,
offices, and management before opening branches in new countries and

In DXA the production of photons, based on the use of an X ray tube (18), leads to shorter imaging
times (less than 5 min) with enhanced resolution and improved accuracy than in DPA using a

It has been shown that the reproducibility of BMD measurements, expressed as coefficient of variation
(CV), is quite good: 1.12% for vertebrae, 2.21% for femoral neck and 1.32% for total hip (21).
The central skeleton (spine and femur) is the most relevant measurement site, since this is the site
suffer¬ing the most severe fractures. In particular lumbar spine (for L1 to L4) and proximal femur
(total hip, femoral neck, trochanter and WARD area) (F are mea¬sured by axial DXA devices (21).
The DXA method has also been applied for mea¬surements of peripheral locations, such as the heel
and distal radius. The choice to investigate the forearm can give an information on the possibility to
have a wrist fracture and can be performed when evaluation of other sites is unfeasible; similarly,
calcaneus measurements are particularly predictive of spine fractures (22) even if the WHO criterion
for osteoporosis diagnosis (T score ≤ 2.5) is not applicable to the calcaneus. Anyway, since there is
only a moderate correlation between the periph¬eral and axial BMD (r = 0.5 0.6), it has been
estimated that over 40% of the patients investigated at peripheral bone sites would need an additional
referral to the axial DXA measurement (23). It has been shown that the most reliable prediction of

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Recommender System
Recommender Systems are based on well structured and incremental algorithms that have different
strengths and weaknesses cite{ricci2011introduction}. In general, the main existing RSs are

Option Two : A Mainstream Brand

The Media and Body Image Essay
Mass media is designed to reach large audiences with technology. Its purpose is meant to give us
entertainment and information we need to act as a society. Media is everywhere; there is no escaping
from it. Almost every home in America has at least one TV, the internet, and a cell phone. You cannot
drive down the street without seeing billboard signs. Checking out at the grocery store can be tricky if
trying to avoid magazines. There are more forms of media available today then ever before;
consequently, teens are exposed to a lot of information. The media is supposed to portray what is

adults. What the media tells them is normal affects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality the media is not showing the real picture of the diverse world we live in. According to the
online recourse Common Sense Media, 74 percent of characters on TV are Caucasian, and 64 percent
of video games characters are males. In reality most of the images teens see in the media are edited,
photo shopped, or enhanced with special effects. Even though a teen may be aware of this fact, seeing
the stereotyped image still has an affect on their body image. Often teens are not being educated about
sex; therefore, are learning about if from porn, or other forms of media. The encouragement of sexual
behavior is widely displayed in the media. Sex is being portrayed as more casual, without
commitment, contraception, or consequences. Teen dramas and music videos portray the cool kids as
the ones have sexual relations. The casual attitude about sex has sparked a new trend involving cell
phones called Sexting. This is when a teen takes a nude photo with their mobile phone and sends it to
another mobile phone. It is against the law to view and distribute child porn; because teens are minors,
sexting is considered just that. Sexting is very dangerous, because teens unknowingly set themselves
up for a criminal record. The internet is becoming a very popular place to meet and make friends.
MySpace and Facebook have become very popular social websites. Teens feel pressure to portray
themselves in seductive ways, to be like the teens

Abstract
The purpose of this project was to develop a training program for Wellbridge Clubs that focused on
teaching sales staff to sell personal training (PT) packages to members, in order to increase Wellbridge
sales. The training agenda was designed based on Silberman s (2006) Active Training, in order to
engage the participants in their learning process. The use of immediate learning exercises is intended
to draw the participants into the process of guided note taking during the brain friendly lectures.

To ensure that the training is truly taught for its intended purpose requires conducting training needs
analysis. BusinessDictionary.com defines a training needs analysis as an assessment of the training
requirements of a target group in terms of (1) number of trainees, (2) their educational and
professional background, (3) their present level of competence, and (4) the desired behavior or skill
level acquired at the completion of training (Training needs analysis, 2014).
Wellbridge Analysis Given that our training had to be developed within eight weeks, our team referred
to Silberman s (2006) Advantages and Disadvantages of Nine Basic Needs Assessment Techniques in
order to quickly gather information (pp. 32 34). Due to our time and cost restraints, we had to exclude
several of the nine basic needs such as observation, questionnaires, and group discussion (Silberman,
2006). We conducted interviews and key consultations via teleconferences with the Wellbridge
corporate office staff located in Denver, which included Steve Datte, Kelly Bartlett, and Amy
Thompson. Additionally, we gathered data during lectures with Jerry Rose, our instructor, from
October 21 through December 9, 2014, at Webster University. Mr. Rose is also a personal trainer for

Gay Scouts Monologue
As the boutonnière was pinned onto my suit jacket and the velcro corsage straps were carefully
latched around my girlfriend s wrist, there was a sense of finality surrounding the whole Homecoming
affair. But this was not me, not my coming of age. The awkward freshman with the polka dotted tie
cinched around his neck, perfectly matching the white dots of his date s black dress, was the Boy
Scout, the junior varsity soccer player who his parents and peers expected him to be. The obligatory
dance being our only formal date, I ended the relationship just weeks later because I am gay. Still
closeted to everyone around me, I feared ostracizing myself and making others uncomfortable or
downright disgusted. So when a girl asked me out to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My parents were struggling after my older sister came out a lesbian before fleeing to college. Seeing
how hurt they were, I kept my support for her secret. I remember one night hearing my mom alone in
her room, sobbing and crying to God. She pleaded with Him, begging why me? I could not come out.
My first challenge as a semi openly gay man was precariously holding the rank of Life Scout in my
local Boy Scout Troop. While gay scouts were technically banned from the organization at that time,
they would have had to throw me out. There was a movement of scouts who, having earned the rank
of Eagle, mailed back their badge accompanied by a letter stating they would not accept the
organization s award until they allowed both gay scouts and adults. Thus, I was inspired to do the
same and reject scouting s highest rank. Ironically enough, I was on the Amtrak train to New Mexico

Red Hot Chili Peppers-Personal Narrative

Suck My Kiss. , I replied shakily as I was nervous. Wow. That s impressive. I was going to give you
the tickets even if you didn t name the songs. , the radio announcer replied. I breathed out in relief and
began to smile. I had just won concert tickets to see a band that i ve been obsessed with ever since I
was a kid and I could not have been happier. After the silence on the line, he began asking me a bunch
of questions about the band. You really are a big fan. How old are you? 15. , I answered with the

How High Energy X Rays Are Used On A Crystal Essay
Figure 1: Top: Shows how high energy X rays are used on a crystal to create an XRD pattern (Law
2009). Bottom: An example XRD pattern for a sample point (Xue et al. 2016). Then the collected
XRD patterns are organized and the underlying structures are found. Meaning that for each library
there should be a small number of underlying XRD patterns, usually less than ten, such that every
pattern in the library can be reconstructed as a linear combination of these underlying patterns. These
underlying patterns can then be used to interpret the crystal structure of each sample point, as well as
give insights into the material properties of each sample point. These underlying XRD patterns are
often called a phase. This signal de mixing of material systems is referred to as the phase mapping
problem. Using traditional methods material scientists can process approximately ten XRD patterns
per day, whereas sample points are generated on the order of thousands per day (Gregoire et al. 2009;
2014). Clearly there is a need for a scalable algorithmic approach to address this problem. To address
this problem the novel solver AgileFD was created that is based on convolutive non negative matrix
factorization (cNMF), which has been previously used for source separation problems (Smaragdis
2004; Mørup and Schmidt 2006). AgileFD uses lightweight iterative update rules that allows for fast
solutions, on the order of minutes (Xue et al. 2016). However the many constraints that a solution

Applying Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the...
The classic stories Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
consist of dreamlike adventures in a crazy world of nonsense. However this nonsense can be
deciphered into a complex new system of thinking. This way of thinking can be transferred and
directly applied to the mind. How the mind works, its many varying functions, and lastly the
unconscious mind can all be tied to Alice. The unconscious mind can be compared to Alice, as can a
dreamlike state of mind. In the first book Lewis Carroll wrote, it never states that Alice is dreaming. It
does infer that she is, though, by way of saying it was a warm day, which would make one drowsy.
You can imagine slowly drifting off and all of the sudden ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So in her unconscious mind, she creates a new world of her own, filled to the brim with nonsense. As
she goes on to explore it, her adventures lead her to the conclusion that society has these rules for a
reason. Alice appears to be more mature at the end of this dream, showing you can learn from
yourself, through your unconscious mind.
The part of the brain that controls dreams is called the Pons. This region of brain near the base of the
skull transports information to the thalamus, which controls the learning and thinking aspects of the
brain. Sigmund Freud believed that dreams acted as a safety valve for desires. This could mean that
Alice truly wanted a world of ridiculousness, but knew better, but just had to prove it to herself,
subconsciously. Thus, it was like a safety net, because she never really did any of the nonsensical
things, but still learned from it. (NINDS)
To put it in a way, we ARE Alice. We can be relatively compared to her, psychologically. Alice is
confused in her mind, and hates the way things are. She doesn t see the reason behind some things. We
can be that way about things at times. Alice learned from her dreams though, before she went berserk.
This happens to us too, in a way. It may not be in a dream, but in any type of sudden realization, about
what we could not understand before, now makes sense with new information. Once we realize
something, we can use it to our use. Once Alice

Paul s Flattery Essay
As an orator or public speaker the level of professionalism you exuberant is vital, otherwise, you stand
to face criticism, mainly by highly esteemed philosophers and city leaders.
Anyone who was not forthcoming with their intentions and used flattery was perceived to be looking
to secure money from the hearers. Feeling strongly towards orators and their deceit, Plato criticized
them as a sort of merchant or dealer in provisions on which the soul is nourished. Plato also refused to
give the name of art to anything that is irrational and said, if you dispute my views, I am ready to give
my reasons. 2 The opinions and views set a tough stage for Paul to enter a city and begin to proclaim
the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their opinions are not the only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flattery came with false motives to cover up any greed. Instead, Paul came with authentic material
and because of this there was no conviction of unoriginality1. There was no need to be disingenuous
because his professionalism was directed by the Holy Spirit. If Paul used flattery it would ruin his
perception and the abilities of God. Furthermore, flattery seems neither reputable nor honorable even
when practiced gaining distinction.3 Paul came with encouragement while greeting the Thessalonians
and Corinthians. Paul told the Thessalonian church he was not there for financial gain or in vain.
There was no attempt being made to deceive, or flatter (1 Th 2:1 5).4 Orators came promising to
benefit their hearers culturally with public declarations, benefactions, and advice.1 When Paul returns
to Thessalonica he continues to address them with thanksgiving and not seeking glory for himself or
out of his work, but the glory of the Lord because they needed the reassurance that Jesus is still
coming. Paul had to clear up the confusion after the deceit of other orators which misled the

Warren Vs Rehnquist Court Case Summary
Running head: WARREN VERSUS REHNQUIST COURTS Warren versus Rehnquist Courts Michael
Walker Park University Abstract The criminal justice system is greatly shaped by the civil rights
safeguarded under the Bill of Rights. The court jurisprudence with regard to national security and civil
liberties largely revolves around the provisions of the Bill of Rights (Baker, 2003). This paper
discusses Chief Justices Earl Warren and William Rehnquist s significant decisions and the effects
they had on the balance between social order maintenance and individual liberties. Warren versus
Rehnquist Courts Earl Warren held the position of Chief Justice between 1953 and 1969. He led a

This decision raised controversy with regard to the exclusion of illegally acquired evidence across all
levels of the United States court system. In Gideon v Wainwright (1963), the court dealt with the issue
of right to counsel for non capital and capital cases. The court was to determine whether states need to
appoint lawyers for defendants who could not pay in both capital and non capital offenses. In a
unanimous 9 0 decision, the court held that the Sixth Amendment applied to all states by virtue of the
14th Amendment, implying that states had to provide counsel to defendants in state criminal trials
involving serious criminal offenses. As a result of this decision, two significant issues were raised: the
right to counsel as provided by the Sixth Amendment and the stages in the criminal justice system at
which the defendant should be allowed counsel. These issues were based on the standards of effective
counsel for purposes of establishing whether the right has been denied to the defendant (Pollak, 1979).
The case of Miranda v Arizona concerned the issue of whether police interrogatory practices on
persons without notifying such persons on their protection against self incrimination and their right to
counsel amounted to the violation of the 5th Amendment. In an unusual decision of 5 4, the court
ruled that incriminating evidence stated by the accused cannot be admissible in a court

Essay about Report on We Were Soldiers

Extended Essay of We Were Soldiers
The Vietnam War was a nightmare for many soldiers. It re defined the meaning of war to an entire
generation. As the conflict grew it became known around the world that this was a war that could not
be won. After this was realized by America the main focus became to get out instead of getting a
victory . In the 2002 film We Were Soldiers, directed by Randall Wallace, a true account of the first
major battle in Vietnam is given. At the beginning of the film he introduces to us many of the soldiers
and their families. This is a very smart technique, because it ensures that the audience not only will

there was grieving and sadness upon the wives that had lost their husbands. She was always there to
support the wives and help them through the tough times. The year is 1965 and Lt. Col. Hal Moore is
the leader of the 1st Battalion of the 7th Cavalry. Moore is assigned to lead his men into battle in the
Ia Drang Valley, commonly known as The Valley of Death . This would be the first major battle
between American and North Vietnamese soldiers(a.k.a Vietcong). Four hundred of Moore s men were
drawn into an ambush, trapped for many days, and bombastically outnumbered by the Vietcong.
Instead of giving up and retreating, they stayed and fought to the end. Moore s commanding officer
Sgt. Major Plumer(played by Sam Elliot) is a cocky drill sergeant who is by Moore s side most of the
battle. Plumer is remembered for his audacious and insane one liners through out the movie and his un

As Lord Normand stated in Teper : The rule against the admission of hearsay is fundamental... The
truthfulness and accuracy of the witness whose words are spoken by another person cannot be tested
by cross examination, and the light which his demeanour would throw upon his testimony is lost.
10. This rule is not inflexible. As Heffernan explained: Notwithstanding its merit in excluding
unreliable evidence and enhancing adjudication, the rule against hearsay suffers from the disadvantage
that it is overly broad in its application. Because the rule can and does lead to the exclusion of
probative evidence, it has been constrained over the years in the UK and Ireland by numerous
common law and statutory exceptions.
11. Tapper highlights some Common Law exceptions. For the purposes of brevity, these exceptions

The Issue Arising From The Monique s Case Essay
Introduction:
The issue arising from the Monique s case is the direct applicability of the Treaty Articles and the
direct or indirect effect of Directives, provided by the European Union.
Monique may be able to rely on both Article 18 and 45 of TFEU which concerns any kind of
discrimination against EU citizens. The Council Directive 14/08 will be examined whether it is direct
or indirect applicable, or if it can be applicable under the principle of state liability. In the case where
one of the above can be established, Monique will be able to seek compensations against either
Conker Plc or the United Kingdom s State for non implementation of the directive.
Treaty Articles Direct Effect:
In 1974, when the European Council was created, all countries decided that treaties will be agreed
together and they cannot be enforceable if they are not approved democratically from all Member
States. Treaties are at the top of the European Union s hierarchy and they are primary legislations
which give rights to Member states and European citizens but also create obligations to the European
States to implement the new law into their own domestic law. Also, Treaties sets the European Union s
constitutional basis and, as stated in the case of Costa, they cannot be overridden by any national law.
Articles 3,4 and 6 of the TFEU provides the areas where European Union have exclusive
competences, shared and supporting competences respectively and the Union shall act only within the

A Brief History of the Hybrid Vehicle
Brief History of Hybrid Vehicle Development
First built in the early 1900s by inventors tinkering with combinations of the electric motor and the
gasoline engine, hybrid vehicles were dropped when gasoline fueled vehicles became more reliable
and easier to start, and gasoline fuel more readily available. Research and development of hybrid
vehicles was revived by concern about oil dependency in the1970s and about air pollution in the late
1980s.
A number of hybrid vehicles have been built and tested since 1980. Some of these vehicles have
impressed analysts with their performance and low levels of exhaust and petroleum consumption.
Interest in hybrid vehicles jumped in late 1993 with the announcement of funding for ... Show more

The Series Hybrid Car: The gasoline engine in this car turns a generator and the generator can either
charge the batteries or power an electric motor that drives the transmission. Thus the gasoline engine
never directly powers the vehicle.
All of the components form a line that eventually connects with the transmission.
[4]
Hybrid Components
Gasoline engine The hybrid car has a gasoline engine much like the one you will find on most cars.
However, the engine on a hybrid is smaller and uses advanced technologies to reduce emissions and
increase efficiency. The engine turns the generator. It is not able to power the car directly.
Fuel tank The fuel tank in a hybrid is the energy storage device for the gasoline engine. Gasoline has a
much higher energy density than batteries do. For example, it takes about 1,000 pounds of batteries to
store as much energy as 1 gallon (7 pounds) of gasoline.
Electric motor The electric motor on a hybrid car is very sophisticated. Advanced electronics allow it
to act as a motor as well as a generator. For example, when it needs to, it can draw energy from the
batteries to accelerate the car. But acting as a generator, it can slow the car down and return energy to
the batteries.
Generator The generator is similar to an electric motor, but it acts only to produce electrical power. It
is used mostly on series hybrids. It is

Sherlock Holmes By Arthur Conan Doyle
To begin with, the first indispensable step in the research should be devoted to the Scottish writer sir
Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the famous Victorian detective Sherlock Holmes. The fact that
Conan Doyle was not the first detective writer is definitely worth mentioning. The founder of the
detective genre is considered to be the American writer Edgar Allan Poe. The story of detective fiction
oficially started in 1841 when Poe published his The Murders in the Rue Morgue (Kopley 31). This
famous story established literary conventions which are used in detective fiction till the present time.
The main character of Poe`s novels, the Paris detective C. August Dupin, has become a prototype of
the detective image which does not stale even nowadays, and had a big influence on Sherlock
Holmes`s image (Schwartz 15).
Arthur Conan Doyle devoted his famous quotation to Poe: Each [of Poe s detective stories] is a root
from which a whole literature has developed... Where was the detective story until Poe breathed the
breath of life into it? (Dawn 323). The reference to Dupin`s character can be even found in the first
story of Sherlock book series A Study in Scarlet (1887) where Holmes mensions Dupin when Watson
tries to compare the two detectives: No doubt you think you are complimenting me... In my opinion,

The Role Of Ecological Validity Of A Research Study On Memory
This essay will be looking at the role of ecological validity and the importance it has in psychological
research. Ecological validity refers to the extent to which a study reflects naturally occurring or
everyday situations. It will also consider the advantages and disadvantages of ecological validity,
through exploring studies such as the bobo doll experiment and a study on memory. Ecological
validity is one of many important factor in psychological research. Also being addressed is what goes
into a study or experiment and all the things that need to be considered to achieve ecological validity.
In addition, it is important to design the study in such a way that the results obtained can be usefully
and meaningfully applied to the area in question. Constructing experiments that achieve high
ecological validity is quite a complex and difficult task. When conducting a study or experiment there
are lots of issues that researchers and psychologists need to consider. Making good decisions on
features like conditions can make all the difference between a poor research study and one that
contributes significantly to new knowledge. The more researchers try to control a study or experiment,
the less ecological validity it tends to have. Studies or experiments that have high ecological validity
allows psychologists to generalise the findings which shows how behaviour is affected in real life. A
negative drawback from a study with high ecological validity is that it is very hard to

The goal of the project is to optimize the service process with the purpose of minimizing the service
time. There has been an ever growing emphasis on service speed and work efficiency in the last
century and people have come to expect fast service. It is therefore, paramount that Tim Hortons meet
and perhaps exceed the expectations of its customers by providing them with the fastest service
possible. The Tim Hortons site being studied is located in downtown Toronto which is a very busy
area and therefore the branch experiences very high activity most of the day. To account for the high

The initial issue that was noticed after many hours of observing the systems operations were that the
service times for the customers were too lengthy. Especially during the peak times of 9am 12pm.
Customers were observed to be in the system for an average of 11.82 minutes. Although there were
four servers at this location only two of them were actively in use. This is due to the fact that the
customers would only line up in front of the two middle servers leaving the other two servers empty.
Causing the servers to constantly have to ask the customers to move over to the other queues, causing
the overall time in the system to be much greater than it should be.
This project aims to demonstrate how the service of the facility is capable of providing fast service if
all four servers were actively in use, to investigate the reason why the customers are not lining up with
the other servers and finally how to improve the design of the facility in order to allow the customers
to actually make use of the other two servers at the facility.
Queueing models will be set up comparing the service time results when 4 servers are actively in use
as opposed to the service time when only 2 of the servers are being used.
The following table shows the data collected for 57 customers from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. From the
table, the total queueing time is 460 minutes and the average queueing time is 8.07 minutes. The total

Helen Dunmore from 2000 is about. It is about the protagonist s life as a Part time catering staff and
how her life develops. Half polish, uniform, a blue overall and a white cap with the school logo on it.
Carla is a single mother working as Part time catering staff, for £3,89 per hour. She doesn t dislike her

because it can mean multiple things. The tie you wear with your suit, or to tie something together.
Being bonded, showing this link she has with Steve, because of their cultural similarities. Class and
power are one of them main themes, shown by the teachers judging Carla, by her social status, and
their prejudice towards Steve by saying he is weird because of his voice. Identity is another one, being
connected to class and power, the entire story is about finding yourself. Finding your identity, that
shows who you are. That is the main thing Carla is struggling with and the cause of her insecurity. A
tie, being an accessory for your neck, is also tightening around your neck. This could resemble that the

Multi Rural Tourism Through Zone Ⅰ And Zone Ⅲ
Through discussing the suggested developing scenario shaped 川 and the suggested development
strategies according to their axes, and the resulted areas, in addition to the expected growth in the
future which will achieve the balanced development between both the rural and the urban areas within
the coastal region On the one hand, and its integration with the Eastern back as a step towards the
overall national development, we come to the following conclusions:
A. The suggested scenario and the regional tourism toward an integrated rural tourism [ZoneⅠ Zone
Ⅲ]
As it was mentioned formerly, the coastal region on the first place is considered as a tourism region,
however; the tourism projects and investments focused in coastline, was what made the tourism
centered only on marine tourism away from the mountainous areas, nature quietness, open areas as
well as archeological sites, such as castle and forts that are scattered along the region, starting from the
coastline and till the mountains, the main reason is due to the unavailability of touristic infrastructure
and the needed services to promote touristic investment in this rural mountainous area.
That is exactly why the suggested corridor in zoneⅠ forms a new rural tourism industry, which will be
the main base to find the needed infrastructure through a highway supported by a metro line as a
backbone which forms the main physical structure for the corridor and what comes alongside; like

Unit 2 Assignment Cold War
Tezra Lee
Kaplan University
The Cold War represents the disputes between the Soviet Union and the United States, and may be the
most noteworthy political issue of the late 20th Century. The Cold War was a very political issue
because it influenced foreign policies, impacted our economy, and even affected Presidential elections.
The United States was worried that the Soviet Union would extend communism throughout Europe
with its power and control over smaller and weaker countries. At the beginning of the Cold War the
struggles between the United States and the Soviet Union were more political than military. The
Soviet Union detonated its first atomic bomb on August 29, 1949 which alarmed the United ... Show

mainly associated with the Cold War, and she replied the Bay of Pigs (B. Rego, personal
communication, May 27, 2013). My mother was able to accurately remember the parties involved in
the Cold War, as well as key details and key events of the period having lived through the period, not
as a child but as a young adult.
My second interviewee was a male in his mid thirties whom did not live through the Cold War period,
but studied it in school. My younger brother s definition of the Cold War was long period of tensions
between countries (J. Rego, personal communication, May 27, 2013). His definition is similar to the
definition provided in this course with the exception that he did not mention specifically the United
States and the Soviet Union. When questioned about what aspects of the Cold War he remembers he
stated I remember Korea and Vietnam (J. Rego, personal communication, May 27, 2013). Although he
is not incorrect in his response, it was interesting to me that he again omitted the involvement of the
United States and the Soviet Union. When asked about the key events mainly associated with the Cold

  • 2. The Role Of Political Consensus In Pop Culture Political Consensus and Pop Culture of World War II World War II continues to be the most tremendous global war throughout history. This war effected everyone, especially the political beliefs in each country that was involved. In America, the role of pop culture made an impact on the political consensus of Americans in a constructional manner. During World War II, the entertainment industry effectively helped produce a national consensus celebrating the American way of life. Consequently, this patriotism led America s unity to defend their country against Germany, Italy, Japan, and later the Soviet Union s communism. Pop culture provided many opportunities of amusement and influenced Americans viewpoint of themselves and their country. But during 1941, many entertainment industries still had major downfalls due to the war, which puts the role and destiny of pop culture into question. The resources that entertainment ... For instance, the role of music made a psychological fighting force, while the government s propaganda office urged the music industry to produce freedom songs with lots of flags waving. Right after Pearl Harbor happened, many writers hurried publishers to publish songs encouraged by the event. But the citizens didn t want war songs; they wanted songs they can relate to, such as songs about home, relationships, family, and fun. Many war songs expressed loneliness, which was a since of annoyance with wartime sacrifice and departure. However, the song White Christmas that was not about the war became a hit in the United States and sort of the anthem for World War II, selling over thirty two million copies. Green Cars Are Not Better Than Conventional Cars Green cars are not better than Conventional cars The dramatic increase in driving is causing a more serious environmental problem than ever and it could be very dangerous unless there are ways to protect the environment. One solution presented to this environmental problem today is the use of green cars since conventional cars are considered major polluters. It was argued that replacing conventional cars with green cars could be very beneficial economically, socially and mainly environmentally. Green cars such as hybrid cars and electric cars are what most of people are familiar with when they talk about green cars. These cars are considered to be more environmentally friendly cars as they are supposed to cause less harm to the environment than conventional cars. They are made to reduce environmental damage caused by conventional cars which uses an internal combustion engine to burn fuel. They are also thought to be more advantageous than conventional cars since the cost of gas can be avoided and a tax deduction id offered from the government. However, it is surprising that green cars are not really green. It is true that green cars do not emit greenhouse gases, but what we failed to see is that how these cars, especially electric vehicles and their battery, are manufactured and how the electricity which powers them is generated. Essay On Dxa In DXA the production of photons, based on the use of an X ray tube (18), leads to shorter imaging times (less than 5 min) with enhanced resolution and improved accuracy than in DPA using a radionuclide source. A DXA scanner consists of a mobile X ray source, an examination table for the patient, and a de¬tection system that detects radiation emerging from the bones being examined. The central skeleton (spine and femur) is the most relevant measurement site, since this is the site suffer¬ing the most severe fractures. In particular lumbar spine (for L1 to L4) and proximal femur (total hip, femoral neck, trochanter and WARD area) (F are mea¬sured by axial DXA devices (21). The DXA method has also been applied for mea¬surements of peripheral locations, such as the heel and distal radius. The choice to investigate the forearm can give an information on the possibility to have a wrist fracture and can be performed when evaluation of other sites is unfeasible; similarly, calcaneus measurements are particularly predictive of spine fractures (22) even if the WHO criterion for osteoporosis diagnosis (T score ≤ 2.5) is not applicable to the calcaneus. Anyway, since there is only a moderate correlation between the periph¬eral and axial BMD (r = 0.5 0.6), it has been estimated that over 40% of the patients investigated at peripheral bone sites would need an additional referral to the axial DXA measurement (23). Bottom: An example XRD pattern for a sample point (Xue et al. 2016). Then the collected XRD patterns are organized and the underlying structures are found. Meaning that for each library there should be a small number of underlying XRD patterns, usually less than ten, such that every pattern in the library can be reconstructed as a linear combination of these underlying patterns. These underlying patterns can then be used to interpret the crystal structure of each sample point, as well as give insights into the material properties of each sample point. These underlying XRD patterns are often called a phase. This signal de mixing of material systems is referred to as the phase mapping problem. Using traditional methods material scientists can process approximately ten XRD patterns per day, whereas sample points are generated on the order of thousands per day (Gregoire et al. 2009; 2014). Clearly there is a need for a scalable algorithmic approach to address this problem. To address this problem the novel solver AgileFD was created that is based on convolutive non negative matrix factorization (cNMF), which has been previously used for source separation problems (Smaragdis 2004; Mørup and Schmidt 2006). AgileFD uses lightweight iterative update rules that allows for fast solutions, on the order of minutes (Xue et al. 2016). However the many constraints that a solution must ... Warren Vs Rehnquist Court Case Summary Running head: WARREN VERSUS REHNQUIST COURTS Warren versus Rehnquist Courts Michael Walker Park University Abstract The criminal justice system is greatly shaped by the civil rights safeguarded under the Bill of Rights. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This decision raised controversy with regard to the exclusion of illegally acquired evidence across all levels of the United States court system. In Gideon v Wainwright (1963), the court dealt with the issue of right to counsel for non capital and capital cases. The court was to determine whether states need to appoint lawyers for defendants who could not pay in both capital and non capital offenses. In a unanimous 9 0 decision, the court held that the Sixth Amendment applied to all states by virtue of the 14th Amendment, implying that states had to provide counsel to defendants in state criminal trials involving serious criminal offenses. As a result of this decision, two significant issues were raised: the right to counsel as provided by the Sixth Amendment and the stages in the criminal justice system at which the defendant should be allowed counsel. These issues were based on the standards of effective counsel for purposes of establishing whether the right has been denied to the defendant (Pollak, 1979). The case of Miranda v Arizona concerned the issue of whether police interrogatory practices on persons without notifying such persons on their protection against self incrimination and their right to counsel amounted to the violation of the 5th Amendment. In an unusual decision of 5 4, the court ruled that incriminating evidence stated by the accused cannot be admissible in a court ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It re defined the meaning of war to an entire generation. As the conflict grew it became known around the world that this was a war that could not be won. After this was realized by America the main focus became to get out instead of getting a victory . In the 2002 film We Were Soldiers, directed by Randall Wallace, a true account of the first major battle in Vietnam is given. At the beginning of the film he introduces to us many of the soldiers and their families. Another interesting aspect about this film is that Hal Moore took the leading role in being a father like figure to all his troops when they went into battle, but also Julie Moore became a leader whenever there was grieving and sadness upon the wives that had lost their husbands. She was always there to support the wives and help them through the tough times. The year is 1965 and Lt. Col. Hal Moore is the leader of the 1st Battalion of the 7th Cavalry. Moore is assigned to lead his men into battle in the Ia Drang Valley, commonly known as The Valley of Death . This would be the first major battle between American and North Vietnamese soldiers(a.k.a Vietcong). Four hundred of Moore s men were drawn into an ambush, trapped for many days, and bombastically outnumbered by the Vietcong. Instead of giving up and retreating, they stayed and fought to the end. Moore s commanding officer Sgt. Major Plumer(played by Sam Elliot) is a cocky drill sergeant who is by Moore s side most of the battle. Plumer is remembered for his audacious and insane one liners through out the movie and his un hindered willingness to kill the enemy. As Lord Normand stated in Teper : The rule against the admission of hearsay is fundamental... The truthfulness and accuracy of the witness whose words are spoken by another person cannot be tested by cross examination, and the light which his demeanour would throw upon his testimony is lost. 10. This rule is not inflexible. As Heffernan explained: Notwithstanding its merit in excluding unreliable evidence and enhancing adjudication, the rule against hearsay suffers from the disadvantage that it is overly broad in its application. Because the rule can and does lead to the exclusion of probative evidence, it has been constrained over the years in the UK and Ireland by numerous common law and statutory exceptions. 11. Tapper highlights some Common Law exceptions. For the purposes of brevity, these exceptions shall not be expatiated. These include evidence relating to: (a) Public Information (b) Reputation: character and family matters (c) Res gestae: statements relating to a relevant event and statements relating to a contemporaneous, relevant mental state (d) Admissions Confessions. 12. • 34. The Issue Arising From The Monique s Case Essay Introduction: The issue arising from the Monique s case is the direct applicability of the Treaty Articles and the direct or indirect effect of Directives, provided by the European Union. Monique may be able to rely on both Article 18 and 45 of TFEU which concerns any kind of discrimination against EU citizens. The Council Directive 14/08 will be examined whether it is direct or indirect applicable, or if it can be applicable under the principle of state liability. In the case where one of the above can be established, Monique will be able to seek compensations against either Conker Plc or the United Kingdom s State for non implementation of the directive. Treaty Articles Direct Effect: In 1974, when the European Council was created, all countries decided that treaties will be agreed together and they cannot be enforceable if they are not approved democratically from all Member States. Treaties are at the top of the European Union s hierarchy and they are primary legislations which give rights to Member states and European citizens but also create obligations to the European States to implement the new law into their own domestic law. Also, Treaties sets the European Union s constitutional basis and, as stated in the case of Costa, they cannot be overridden by any national law. A Brief History of the Hybrid Vehicle Brief History of Hybrid Vehicle Development First built in the early 1900s by inventors tinkering with combinations of the electric motor and the gasoline engine, hybrid vehicles were dropped when gasoline fueled vehicles became more reliable and easier to start, and gasoline fuel more readily available. Research and development of hybrid vehicles was revived by concern about oil dependency in the1970s and about air pollution in the late 1980s. A number of hybrid vehicles have been built and tested since 1980. Some of these vehicles have impressed analysts with their performance and low levels of exhaust and petroleum consumption. The Series Hybrid Car: The gasoline engine in this car turns a generator and the generator can either charge the batteries or power an electric motor that drives the transmission. Thus the gasoline engine never directly powers the vehicle. All of the components form a line that eventually connects with the transmission. [4] Hybrid Components Gasoline engine The hybrid car has a gasoline engine much like the one you will find on most cars. However, the engine on a hybrid is smaller and uses advanced technologies to reduce emissions and increase efficiency. The engine turns the generator. It is not able to power the car directly. Fuel tank The fuel tank in a hybrid is the energy storage device for the gasoline engine. Gasoline has a much higher energy density than batteries do. For example, it takes about 1,000 pounds of batteries to store as much energy as 1 gallon (7 pounds) of gasoline. Electric motor The electric motor on a hybrid car is very sophisticated. Advanced electronics allow it to act as a motor as well as a generator. For example, when it needs to, it can draw energy from the batteries to accelerate the car. But acting as a generator, it can slow the car down and return energy to the batteries. Generator The generator is similar to an electric motor, but it acts only to produce electrical power. It is used mostly on series hybrids. It is

Sherlock Holmes By Arthur Conan Doyle To begin with, the first indispensable step in the research should be devoted to the Scottish writer sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the famous Victorian detective Sherlock Holmes. The fact that Conan Doyle was not the first detective writer is definitely worth mentioning. The founder of the detective genre is considered to be the American writer Edgar Allan Poe. The story of detective fiction oficially started in 1841 when Poe published his The Murders in the Rue Morgue (Kopley 31). This famous story established literary conventions which are used in detective fiction till the present time. The main character of Poe`s novels, the Paris detective C. August Dupin, has become a prototype of the detective image which does not stale even nowadays, and had a big influence on Sherlock Holmes`s image (Schwartz 15). Arthur Conan Doyle devoted his famous quotation to Poe: Each [of Poe s detective stories] is a root from which a whole literature has developed... Where was the detective story until Poe breathed the breath of life into it? (Dawn 323). The reference to Dupin`s character can be even found in the first story of Sherlock book series A Study in Scarlet (1887) where Holmes mensions Dupin when Watson tries to compare the two detectives: No doubt you think you are complimenting me... • 39. The Role Of Ecological Validity Of A Research Study On Memory This essay will be looking at the role of ecological validity and the importance it has in psychological research. Ecological validity refers to the extent to which a study reflects naturally occurring or everyday situations. It will also consider the advantages and disadvantages of ecological validity, through exploring studies such as the bobo doll experiment and a study on memory. Ecological validity is one of many important factor in psychological research. Also being addressed is what goes into a study or experiment and all the things that need to be considered to achieve ecological validity. In addition, it is important to design the study in such a way that the results obtained can be usefully and meaningfully applied to the area in question. Constructing experiments that achieve high ecological validity is quite a complex and difficult task. When conducting a study or experiment there are lots of issues that researchers and psychologists need to consider. Making good decisions on features like conditions can make all the difference between a poor research study and one that contributes significantly to new knowledge. The more researchers try to control a study or experiment, the less ecological validity it tends to have. Studies or experiments that have high ecological validity allows psychologists to generalise the findings which shows how behaviour is affected in real life. A negative drawback from a study with high ecological validity is that it is very hard to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The initial issue that was noticed after many hours of observing the systems operations were that the service times for the customers were too lengthy. Especially during the peak times of 9am 12pm. Customers were observed to be in the system for an average of 11.82 minutes. Although there were four servers at this location only two of them were actively in use. This is due to the fact that the customers would only line up in front of the two middle servers leaving the other two servers empty. Causing the servers to constantly have to ask the customers to move over to the other queues, causing the overall time in the system to be much greater than it should be. This project aims to demonstrate how the service of the facility is capable of providing fast service if all four servers were actively in use, to investigate the reason why the customers are not lining up with the other servers and finally how to improve the design of the facility in order to allow the customers to actually make use of the other two servers at the facility. Queueing models will be set up comparing the service time results when 4 servers are actively in use as opposed to the service time when only 2 of the servers are being used. The following table shows the data collected for 57 customers from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. From the table, the total queueing time is 460 minutes and the average queueing time is 8.07 minutes.
