The World s Wife Carol Ann Duffy Analysis
The World s Wife is a collection of poems by Carol Anne Duffy published in 1999. Throughout Duffy
s collection of the poems she represents women from history, myths and fairy tales, particularly those
whose stories tend to be defined by men, or who have only a cameo appearance in male dominated
scenarios. The Worlds Wife collection explores the themes of sexism, inequality and stereotypes,
which women, sadly still face in modern society. In Duffy s collection some poems look at the story of
the man from a woman s perspective, such as the poem Mrs Aesop . Other poem s stories have been
slightly altered like The Kray Sisters. As we already know the Kray Twins are two male English
gangsters from the East End of London during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of the same sentence the speaker says you came at last at the edge of the woods. The full
stop of this sentence further emphasises the speaker s childhood ending because the whole sentence of
being innocent is coming to an end. This sentence also creates a lot of tension and excitement building
up within the speaker, as she is stepping out of her comfort zone. Little Red continues on saying I
made sure he spotted me. This line makes the speaker sound quite dominating as Little Red was
demanding the Wolf to watch her. Already we can get a sense of reversed roles, as stereotypically men
are seen as more dominating in relationships than woman, but it is Little Red who is dictating in their
relationship. Little Red towards the end of the poem, after 10 years of their relationship describes it as
year in, year out, season after season, same rhyme, same season. The constant repetition is an imagery
how bored Little Red is with her relationship with the greying wolf and that she desires something
new in her life, something more exciting. Also, the sibilance emphasises how irritated Little Red is
becoming towards her partner, as the s sound mirrors the sound of an evil snake, linking to the next
sentence when Little Red describes how she took an axe/to a willow to see how it wept. These two

Junior s Adaptation Of The Movie Sin City
Comic book inspired movies have never been so popular. Their appeal comes from depicting their
stories in the audience s real word. However, what if the big screen at the movie theater could be used
to reproduce a panel straight out of a comic book, without worrying about if it looks real ? That is
what the movie Sin City does. Sin City is an extremely engaging movie that grasps its audience s
attention by its uniqueness. With so many comic book adaptations available, Sin City stands out
because of its uncommon visual style, intriguing stories from different characters and for being the
result of a collaboration between its own creator and a fan. The visual style of Sin City gives its
viewers the impression that they are rather reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The list of memorables is long: Rourke has found his greatest role since The Pope of Greenwich
Village. Willis is his usual authoritatively tough and tender self. Owen and Benicio Del Toro (as a
menacingly jealous boyfriend named Jackie Boy) are outstanding. And Elijah Wood is so luminously
creepy as the psychopathic Kevin, you d swear he just sprang fully formed from an M. Night
Shyamalan nightmare. And those are just the guys. The women are equally formidable, including
Jessica Alba as Hartigan s icon dream girl; Rosario Dawson as an Uzi packing hooker named Gail;
Brittany Murphy as a savvy, tenderhearted waitress who links all three stories; and Devon Aoki as
Miho, a deadly streetwalker who uses the same swords we enjoyed in Tarantino s Kill Bill

Yorktown Battle Analysis
General Washington now had a combined force of over 16,000 American and French Soldiers ready to
begin a siege of Cornwallis and his British force of only 7,500 Soldiers. The French Navy had
decisively defeated the British Navy. There was no chance of escape for the British, both land and sea
routes were blocked. On September 29, 1781, the Battle of Yorktown began. As Washington moved
his Army closer to the British, the British would engage them from their defensive positions. Over the
next 6 days, the French and Americans would establish their trenches needed to begin the siege. The
French and America Armies moved Artillery pieces into position to engage the British.

Ready confirms, On October 14, Washington ordered an attack on two British redoubts separated from
the town s main defense (Middleton, 2012, pg.387). These two redoubts were the last outer defensive
positions of the British Army. The redoubts must be captured, and by the capture, they would all but
force the surrender of the British Army, as they would now be in an indefensible position. The
Americans would attack redoubt 10. Seventy British Soldiers held it. The French would attack redoubt
9. One hundred twenty British and German Soldiers held it. At 1830, Washington employed a scene of
deception. He has ordered troops movement which would appear as if an assault on Yorktown it was
about to occur. Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Hamilton (Commanded attack on redoubt 10) told his
men not to load their guns. Using only the bayonets at the end of their muskets, Hamilton and his men
captured redoubt 10 (Middleton, 2012, pg.385). The French simultaneously assaulted redoubt number
9, and successfully captured the defensive positions. Washington now had the ability to bombard the
town of Yorktown from three directions with very little the British could do to stop it. Ready status

Technology and Culture
Waiting with anticipation to discover my defining moment, the moment that makes or breaks each
student in the class, our final. I sank down in my chair wondering if I would pass or fail the college
level English class that I had struggled with all semester. Our teacher walked into the classroom,
wearing his usual white pants with a blue collared shirt and a red bow tie. He grinned as his eyes
peeked over the rim of his bifocal glasses, as he casually walked to the other end of the classroom. My
heart sank into my chest while his words sizzled off his tongue, ESSAY. He then began to inform us
that the essay should have at least one book source and 1200 words of information on a topic given.

I pushed connect, as I did everyday, but something was different today. When I clicked on the mouse
the word ERROR appeared red on my screen. I leaned back, and thought about how this stupid
computer was always giving me trouble. I went to unplug it, to begin again. I slid my hand down the
back and reached for the plug. I gulped as I realized the enormous computer I had been sitting at this
whole time. Without plugging it in again, I sat back in my seat as I began to notice my surroundings. I
was sitting in the library at Hotchkiss High School the same library I had sat in for four years.
Everything was different though. The chairs were newer looking and the librarian was young. The
floor was tiled and there were three computers instead of the usually 22 that I was accustomed to. Not
only were there fewer computers, but the computers were huge. I returned to the computer while I
rationalized the situation. I plugged the cord back in and the computer began rebooting the screen.
After 5 minutes had passed, I began to wonder if the computer would ever start up. I asked the
librarian why the computer had a blank, green screen. She looked at me and giggled as she pulled a
large floppy disk from her desk. You need this, she said as she handed me the disk. I looked at her
very confused because I had never used a floppy disk in any of my computer projects. She smiled at

Quotes From The Grapes Of Wrath By Richard Adams
Step 1: Call to Adventure
Hazel s brother, Fiver, disturbs peace throughout the Sandleford warren when he has a dream that
terrible things will happen to the warren. Fiver insists that everyone should leave the warren
immediately but nobody listens to him except for a few rabbits.
Quoted evidence: Oh Hazel! This is where it comes from! I know now something very bad! Some
terrible thing coming closer and closer... The field! It s covered in blood!... We ve got to go away
before it s too late. (Adams, 15 17) Well, I never did! That s a rather tall order, isn t it? What do you
think of yourself? (Adams, 20).

Bigwig s knowledge and power saves the group many times from dangerous enemies. He s very

curious, heavy growth of fur on the crown of his head, which gave him an odd appearance, as though
he were wearing a kind of cap. This had given him his name, Thlayli, which means literally, Furhead
or, as we might say, Bigwig. (Adams, 18)
Fiver:
Fiver is Hazel s brother. Fiver is small and awkward, but he sees things that no other rabbits see. His
sixth sense saves the rabbits many times, and they learn to always believe his opinion. Fiver offers

Navajo Immersion Study
The Navajo immersion programs in the American Southwest are very interesting because they have
been very successful in teaching Navajo without sacrificing the student s academic performance or
their proficiency in English. McCarty (2013) noted that The Tséhootsooí Diné Bí ólta is one such
immersion school where Navajo immersion students consistently outperform students from English
only classrooms on standardardized tests. Another immersion program, Puente de Hózhó, has also
consistently outperformed their peers in more traditional monolingual English programs. These
immersion programs have had many challenges receiving funding, maintaining their right to teach
Native languages in public schools, and scoring well enough to not invite outside criticism.
The educators working at these schools are motivated to keep their academic performance high in

However, within the United States, I think it would also be beneficial to promote immersion schools
modeled after the Navajo immersion programs. When speaking about Puente de Hózhó, the school s
co founder Michael Fillerup claimed that, the vision was to create a school where each child s
language and culture was regarded not as a problem to be solved but as an indispensable resource
(2013, p. 132). It would be interesting to see if academic performance is increased because there is
some flexibility for students who aren t native speakers of English, or if English speaking students
also benefit from learning an additional language. I suspect there are a lot of benefits that can be
gained for students of all language backgrounds, and the United States should be more open to
instructing students based on the needs of local

Easter Island Essay
Easter Island was once a haven for its inhabitants. It provided them with all of their needs, food,
shelter, tools, and even the ability to create great works of art. They abused this Eden, and turned it
into a disaster, with almost no natural resources. This could very well happen to us, because our earth
is the same Eden that Easter Island once was.
The people of Easter Island came over to their new land, and recognized that it was ideal for them to
settle. The land was lush; the sea was providing a bounty of fresh fish, and other seafood. The earth
was dark brown, and very rich. Everything was just the way it needed to be to support a growing
community of people.
They began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The soil was losing its great growing powers, because of over cultivation. There were hardly as many
seabirds as could be remembered in recent years. Slowly but surely, their way of life was dwindling,
like a slowing dying flame. They couldn t directly see their end, but it was near. When their major
population finally did go, it went out with a whimper. Slowly and quietly they went the way of their
beloved fern trees. With the loss of all of the necessary items to sustain their eco system, such as the
fern, the trees, which they used to make rope, the birds they used, hunt. All gone now, because they
could not replenish them selves in a quickly enough time to meet the needs of the people.
This should act as a rude awakening to us. The planet could be considered a large Easter Island. We
have a potentially non sustainable eco system. If we are not careful, we could go the same way as the
inhabitants of the island. It is possible for us to use up everything so there is nothing left for our
children to use. If we look at our progression over the last 300 years that we have inhabited North
America, we will notice that we have removed many natural resources. Trees in the Northwest, plains
in the Midwest, the marshes of Florida, all of which have been devastated by humans in the past
centuries. Our great grandparents did not notice the destruction, nor will I ever be

In the old days, coordinating such tasks was not as complicated as today, it only took a weekly
meeting with your team and manager face to face to review the progress on the task or project.
(PCWorld, 2007) The challenge back in the days actually being able to meet on time, agree on the
available time and of course you could only leverage your team member locally in the same office or
at least same city. Today, as we live in a globalized, where companies no longer operate on a local
scale rather on a global scale where human resources are spread all over across the world. Today, the
challenge of working in teams can mean working with people who are in different time zones, located
at multiple locations on different hemispheres. How can you be able to work on a project or task with
such distance in time and space? How can a manager be able to allocate different tasks to different
team members and also be able to track the progress of the task and make sure tasks are being
executed on time and following the business guidelines when the team members are spread all over
the world?
Project management software aims to help organize teamwork. A software that enables tools like been
able to share documents with fellow members of the team where they can access, edit it and share

Expansion To The Great Plains
1.The reasons for the rapid expansion to the Great Plains can be partially drawn from the historical
context. In the early 19th century, many Americans had struggled enough to live in the city and to
compete with others. They wished to expand the settlement to find a new excitement, or the new
opportunities, which many of them thought was granted by God, the Manifest Destiny. 2. On June 6,
some 3000 Lakota camped to do the sacred ritual as the preparation for the war coming up. Praying
and vowing, Sitting Bull, the Lakota s leader, voluntarily signed up for the sacrifice and envisioned a
great triumph over the American Soldier. Such evoking ceremony aroused passions hidden inside of
the worriers, manipulating them to look for someone to fight. After an unexpected attack, the Lakota
warriors celebrated their victory along a little bighorn river. Sitting Bull, again, prayed for the
protection of his people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Custer spotted a Lakota village far away. Without knowing anything about the village, he thinks that
the tribe s people must have been fleeing away, and if he does not attack right now, he will lose the

situation, so he recklessly commanded to push and attack and promise to his soldiers that he will cut

A Leadership Framework Is The Foundation Of Our Ethical...
A leadership framework is the foundation of our ethical leadership style. It displays the values that
each of us hold near to us in regards to ethical leadership. When creating my leadership framework, I
looked intrinsically as well as used past experiences to discover what leadership values were most
important to me. My leadership framework effectively establishes the important personal values that
allow me to effectively lead myself and others towards success. One of the first values established in
my leadership framework is Planning for the future . Planning for the future allows me to lead myself
by ensuring that I am prepared for any future situations or deviations from the original strategy.
Planning for the future also helps me lead others in the same way. It allows me to foresee and plan for
any future situations which could compromise our goal. Attached to the value planning for the future
is the statement, sound judgement . Sound judgement is necessary for planning because it makes the
necessary differentiation between thinking about the future and planning for the future . Sound
judgement allows a leader to plan for future situations and create a plan to deal with those situations.
Caring for others is another value established in my framework. This value also helps me lead myself
as well as others. Firstly, it allows me to lead myself by holding my actions accountable. It drives me
to make decisions that others would find morally right.

Each patient regardless if the condition is the same or not, is unique in the treatment. Nurses must treat
each patient and their condition in a unique fashion to avoid a bias. Not all patients will have the same
recovery time or same length of treatment. Nurses must be able to know how a patient can improve
their overall health by using the three levels of prevention. The nurses number one goal in treating a
healthy patient is preventing a future complication. The nurse can provide secondary prevention by
educating patients at risk for prostate cancer to get screened. The nurse also provides tertiary
prevention by preventing further or secondary complications related to a chronic issue. The third
paradigm is environment. Environment/situation includes all possible conditions affecting patients and
the settings in which their health care needs occur (p. 41). The environment can consist of many
different elements. Some environmental conditions must be made to promote better patient health
depending on the condition. A burn patient will require a room with heat lamps to prevent
hypothermia for example. Some patients have to adapt to a new environment because of a new
diagnosis. Some medications require a patient to avoid sunlight exposure, and a patient that enjoys the
outdoors must learn to adapt and change their norm. The nurses can provide education about

One individual with psychopathic personality disorder is not necessarily antisocial, and an individual
with antisocial disorder does not always meet the diagnostic criteria of psychopathy (Juni, 2014). It is
estimated the general population suffering from antisocial disorder range between 1% 4% and .2%
3.3% for people who had a situation within the past twelve months (Werner, Few, Bucholz, 2015).
These results are based on patients who are participants of communities, or clinical populations and
are supplemented from criminal populations when necessary. The patients were all diagnosed before
the age of fifteen. Gender also plays a role because men are three to five times more likely to be
diagnosed with either antisocial disorder or psychopathy disorder including 6% of men, and 2% of
women (Werner, Few, Bucholz, 2015). Even forensic data shows a higher prevalence between male
psychopathy and antisocial disorders than their female counterparts.
The Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM) stresses the underlying psychodynamic aspects which
does not focus on the antisocial behavior as much as a preoccupation with interpersonal power (Juni,
2014). This statement makes clear distinction between psychopathy and antisocial disorder because
psychopaths are more concerned with power than antisocial behaviors around others.
The criteria related to antisocial behavior patterns include low social intelligence and power impulse
control (Juni, 2014).

I Am A Furitive From A Chain Gang Analysis
I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang Response Paper #8
I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang is a film directed by Mervyn LeRoy, from 1932. The film is about
a soldier, James Allen, who returns home from WWI with the aspiration to be an engineer.
Unfortunately, his family wanted him to return to his prewar job, working at a factory. James decides
to travel around the United States looking for a job and gets mixed up with the wrong person, which
lands him on a chain gang. Throughout the film, various metallic sounds can be heard. One example,
of metallic sounds in the film, is the pickaxe clanking as the calendar changes. A second example of
metallic sounds in the film is the triangular bell that the wardens of the chain gang use to wake up the
prisoners. A third example of metallic sounds in the film is the warden checking all the prisoner s
chains after the end of the workday. A fourth example of metallic sounds in the film is the clanking of
the pickaxe, while James is working for the Tri state engineering company in Chicago. Firstly, the
clanking of the pickaxe hitting the rocks is in sync with the calendar changing. Every clank coincides
with the calendar flipping to the next month. The calendar changing along with the clanking of the
pickaxe can be seen at least twice in the film. The first time it can be seen is after James talks to his
friend about escaping. His friend tells him that, he can plan an escape, but wait a year or two to act on
the plan. The second time the

The Breakfast Club By John Hughes
The Breakfast Club
Noah Lane
Ivy Tech Community College
Abstract This paper is why everyone should watch The Breakfast Club. It tells a story of four
teenagers battling with rebellion, drama, and love. Most critics will argue that it is not realistic, and no
teenager is like that. However, The Breakfast Club written by John Hughes made teens everywhere
relate to at least one of these characters. This movie is a dramatic comedy that will make someone
laugh, cry, and angry all brought together in one amazing film.
The Breakfast Club The Breakfast Club, starring Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, and many other great
actors is a fantastic teen comedy. This movie had great humor along with heart warming love. It is
almost impossible to name one bad thing about this movie. The Breakfast Club is jammed packed full
of comedy, drama, and rebellion. These four high school students represent every cliche in the 1980s
school life. As typical as this may sound for a teen comedy the plot takes a twist. This movie is not the
usual teen comedy in any way. These four students will soon realize that they each have something in
common. Each of the kids parents don t treat them fairly or don t even notice them. It is ironic at first,
because they think that they have figure each person out and they know everything about them. But
soon into the movie they quickly realize they are all too similar. This movie takes place in a high
school in Shermer, Illinois.

Failures Of The World Is Not An Easy Place
The world is not an easy place to get by in. Whether it s the physicality of the world itself or the forces
of nature, there is so much variation in the breadths of danger present that survival is difficult if not
impossible without the ability to dynamically respond to these challenges. Simplicity, though robust in
its nature, could not possibly thrive in a world like ours. Life, it seems, is up to the challenge though,
and the response is more than just a single answer. Rather, the life found on earth is so diverse, so
different from one another; it would fly in the face of the challenge presented. That said, none of the
forms of life could be complex enough to avoid mistakes. Missteps that lead to damage and damage to
failed survival. What is seen from those mistakes is not an acceptance of failure and an inability to go
on, but rather a dogged determination to recover from and overcome. The complexity needed to
survive poses a problem as the process to recover becomes just as intricate. So intricate that it could
not possibly be fully covered in all its depths with just a handful of pages. However, this paper will
attempt to cover in a more general manner what occurs and point out some details of the more
complex processes occurring. The goal of this paper is to explore the method by which a cutaneous
wound is healed for humans and the three involved processes of inflammation, tissue formation, and
tissue remodeling. Cutaneous wound healing, or the process of

The question is unique. In my judgment rules that apply to a host of other symbols, such as state flags,
armbands, or various privately promoted emblems of political or commercial identity, are not
necessarily controlling. Even if flag burning could be considered just another species of symbolic
speech under the logical application of the rules that the Court has developed in its interpretation of
the First Amendment in other contexts, this case has an intangible dimension that makes those rules
inapplicable. Comments: Source: http://www.riverreporter.com/news/library/491us397.htm nbsp;
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;I don t really have an opinion on this subject. I see where both sides are
coming from and I understand their reasoning. But, I will say that Johnson should not have done it
during the time or at the place where he did. It could have easily started a riot and become a lot more
serious than it did. Principal of Law: Texas Penal Code Ann. 42.09 (1989) states: quot; 42.09.

The Pros And Cons Of Counterfeiting
If you have ever traveled to another country, you have probably seen vendors on the sidewalks or
streets, selling designer brand goods at a really cheap price. You may have even purchased something
from them. The fashion industry is a 1.2 trillion dollar global industry and employs 1.9 million people
in the United States alone (Maloney, 2015). There is one market that is proving to be detrimental to
this powerhouse industry. The black market of fashion, which produces counterfeit goods that are
being sold at a fraction of the price of the originals.
Whatever the reason a consumer has for purchasing a counterfeit product, that sale will still influence
the global economy. Counterfeiting leads to huge losses for not only the industry, but also a loss of tax
revenue for governments. It is estimated that counterfeiting consists of 5% to 7% of world trade and
produces profits of over 650 billion dollars annually ( Challenges of Selling , 2008). Not only does
counterfeiting steal profits from legitimate retailers, but it also causes loss of jobs, other, more violent
crimes, supports child labor, and puts consumers health at risk (Bell, 2016). Since most illegal
counterfeiting operations are run by organized crime rings, no taxes are paid, and the profits from
selling these goods are often used to support other crimes such as drug and human trafficking, money
laundering and even terrorism. Counterfeit sales in the United States have been directly related to the

What Is Miss Brill Reality
Illusion versus Reality in Miss Brill
Is it really okay to talk to yourself as long as you don t talk back? Well, what if your fur piece talks
back? In Katherine Mansfield s short story, Miss Brill, it is a quickly established fact that Miss Brill
has an odd relationship with her fur necklet (440). But it is the author s descriptive use of symbolism
that provides a deeper understanding of Miss Brill s personality. Katherine Mansfield creates the
woman in the ermine toque (441) in similarity to Miss Brill to reveal Miss Brill s identity in
connection with her own fur piece and invite comparison, which further illustrates Miss Brill s
perception of reality.
Introduced in the story as simply an ermine toque ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So when the sad little eyes ask, What has been happening to me? (440), it is equivalent to a sad eyed
Miss Brill asking herself that same question. Mansfield stresses the importance of evaluating the
ermine toque (441) as a symbol by making her the only other character besides Miss Brill who is
wearing a fur. However, this is not the only character fact the two women share.
Intending to further define Miss Brill s bizarre personality and perception of life, Katherine Mansfield
creates the woman in the ermine toque in similarity to Miss Brill. Miss Brill s description of this
woman demonstrates that the two women share several character facts. Not only are both women
wearing furs, but both women have possessed the furs for some time. Miss Brill refers to the ermine,
an originally white fur, as being shabby and having turned yellowish (441), a color such a fur would
turn with age. Miss Brill s own fur is old enough to require a dab of black sealing wax on the nose to
revive its look from time to time (440). By saying that the woman wearing the ermine hat has taken on
the same color of the fur (441), Miss Brill suggests that the woman herself has moved on in years.
Miss Brill s own age, which is implied throughout the text, is distastefully proclaimed by the boy in
the park, who refers to Miss Brill as that stupid old thing (443). Most importantly,

Kubrick s Message Stanley Kubrick the director of Full Metal Jacket, left many classmates speechless,
including me. Throughout the movie Full Metal Jacket gives us a meaningful experience of the
Vietnam war. By using our critical thinking and media skills we can often evaluate what the director is

can often give us a grip of what Kubrick wants us to perceive. By analyzing this production it is
obvious that he tries to notify the audience about the drawbacks of Vietnam and any other war; where

Alexander The Great Argumentative Essay
Father: Persians have no place in the Macedonian army! Those who we once fought against are now
fighting alongside us. It is quite simply an insult to be succeeded as Alexander puts it, by young
Persians carrying Macedonian weapons, believing they are one of us.
Son: I believe the reasons he bought the successors to Susa far justify the hostility many veterans,
including you, father, may feel about the event. Alexander had the intention of repatriating those
veterans who were too wounded or old to continue through the difficult conditions they faced. With no
Macedonian troops available to replace them immediately and the strain of having to constantly send
back to Macedonia for reinforcements, Alexander had no choice but to turn to the Persians who were
trained in Macedonian infantry tactics. This army of course, owed more personal loyalty to Alexander
rather than the tiring Macedonians who served him for regional interests17.

Benefit Of Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular Activities: The True Benefits Despite the belief in extracurricular activities harming
students, they can actually be beneficial. Extracurricular activities benefit students by helping them
learn how to manage their time more efficiently and improve academics. There are social benefits,
benefits outside of school, and benefits after school. They help develop students and make them
became what they will be in the future. Extracurricular activities most definitely benefit the students
and even the school. Extracurricular activities can help students by helping them learn how to manage
their time more efficiently and improve academics. Students learn how to balance their activities and
school work appropriately, this helps the student get their homework done on time and limit
procrastination (Jackson). With less time to do homework, students work more efficiently, this limits
those late night homework sessions, because students will make sure their work is done. When
participating in an extracurricular activity, students might find that they have less time to work, so to
compensate they plan out when they will complete their homework, showing responsibility, and time
management ( Why Extracurricular ). Responsibility and good time management are beneficial
because it shows that students know how to manage their time to complete things before they are due.

Reflection In Night By Elie Wiesel
In this eye opening book, Night by Elie Wiesel, it became very obvious that, not only his view on the
world, but his view on others and himself changed dramatically throughout the book. He changed
mentally and became stronger in the mind, the things he went through had changed his whole body,
leaving scars and showing his rib cage from lack of food, and his beliefs in God and humanity. His
human right on how he wanted to grow up was taken from him and instead he was handed the brink of
life or death, along with his father, who was constantly on the edge of death. He often questioned the
fact that God was on their side, given the fact that he and thousands more were tortured, beaten, and
killed everyday. He also questioned why God would want them to go through this; was it to make
them stronger people... or did God just want them to suffer? In the Shmoop video, it states that, Not
only can our bodies be tortured, but our souls as well. Elie Wiesel goes through absolute hell everyday
and survives it. He was beaten and hurt multiple times by the people watching over them. He was
tortured physically. But, he also had to watch his own father decay and struggle. Elie went through so
much emotional struggles in the beginning of the book, but later on he started to lose the ability to cry,
for he was all out of tears to spare. He became stronger in the mind and heart. On page 22, it says that

In situations, when the non custodial parent who has been ordered to pay child support fails to do so,

What Role Does Adversity Play In Shaping A Person s Character
A person s character is shaped by many aspects of their life including the people they associate
themselves with, their cultural and familial background, and experiences they have been through.
Some of these experiences may have been positive and others might have not been so pleasant such as
having to endure financial or political hardship. The Roman poet Horace once asserted that adversity
brings out the good aspects of a person or talents while if they were doing great and were prosperous,
those talents would not have come out. From this quotation, it is evident that experiencing hardship
does good for a person and plays a role in shaping their character by motivating them and providing
hope but may also put you down. Adversity is a factor

In Donald Hedrick s essay War is Mud: Branagh s Dirty Harry V and the Types of Political Ambiguity
he is upset with the way politics is read in film. His reaction was generated from an essay written by
Elayne Tobin in which he finds her to be disillusioned. He believes she became disillusioned by the
film community always trying to say film exposes some bad faith, and Hedrick is hesitant to so
strongly believe Hollywood is really trying to represent the agendas of the film community. As an
example of how a film can be read for political ideas he examines Kenneth Branagh s Henry V. In the
first section Mud he looks at the use of and prevalence of dirt. He claims it has more of a function than
just making King Henry look like a tactical genius for defeating the heavily armored French on a
swampy muddy field. He believes Branagh s use of dirt makes the film darker and the darkness
harkens to the character of the real Henry V. He goes on to explain how he his ruthlessness at the

Achieving Project Goals Simulation
How completing the simulation change my perspective of project management
The completion of the stimulation has a critical impact on how I view the general outlook of project
management in the society. Project management is a multifaceted activity that desires and requires
diverse knowledge and skills from the concerned people. The simulation project had many
considerations that took after manipulation of the natural skills and materials into meeting the elephant
project. The directives that were of immense importance came from the knowledge and skills gained
from the course materials and comparative approaches involved throughout the study period
(Choudhury, 1988).
After completing the project, I learnt immense skills and knowledge as regards going beyond extremes
of time and activity in order to meet the objected and non objected calls of the project. The project on
elephants had to be covered within the initial scope that was set during the creation of the project. In
order to fulfill the needs and specifications of the project, the workers had to increase more of their
attention, concentration, and determination. I perceive a project as a tedious and cheap avenue that can
be accomplished if equitable plans have been set before its initialization.
After completing the project, I developed innate skills and knowledge as regards management of
challenges that

Hammarskjöld What Is The Driving Force Behind The Un

The United Nations: An Internship Like No Other
The United Nations was not created to lead mankind to heaven, but to save humanity from hell.
Dag Hammarskjöld , former United Nations Secretary General
The kinds of hell Dag Hammarskjöld referred to are not difficult to imagine in a world ravished by
World War II and terrified by the threat of nuclear war. Hammarskjöld is known today as the second
Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) and widely regarded as a man of unimpeachable
character. His career at the UN was remarkable, in that he was completely uninterested in the
bureaucratic politics many at the United Nations engage in, choosing to lead projects from the
command tent instead of the corner office. He was the first and only Secretary General to be chosen
unanimously and is largely regarded as the greatest leader of the United Nations in history. John F.
Kennedy once said about Hammarskjöld, I realize now, in comparison to him I am a small man. He
was the greatest statesman of our century. (Cite) The question then begs to be asked: what is the
driving force behind this man s impeccable integrity? As we know now, it was his passionate and
private Christian faith. His compassion for his fellow man manifested itself in the form of service to
millions through the United Nations. In addition, a collection of vivid personal Christian reflections,
hailed by many as one of the most

  • 2. The World s Wife Carol Ann Duffy Analysis The World s Wife is a collection of poems by Carol Anne Duffy published in 1999. Throughout Duffy s collection of the poems she represents women from history, myths and fairy tales, particularly those whose stories tend to be defined by men, or who have only a cameo appearance in male dominated scenarios. The Worlds Wife collection explores the themes of sexism, inequality and stereotypes, which women, sadly still face in modern society. In Duffy s collection some poems look at the story of the man from a woman s perspective, such as the poem Mrs Aesop . Other poem s stories have been slightly altered like The Kray Sisters. As we already know the Kray Twins are two male English gangsters from the East End of London during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of the same sentence the speaker says you came at last at the edge of the woods. The full stop of this sentence further emphasises the speaker s childhood ending because the whole sentence of being innocent is coming to an end. This sentence also creates a lot of tension and excitement building up within the speaker, as she is stepping out of her comfort zone. Little Red continues on saying I made sure he spotted me. This line makes the speaker sound quite dominating as Little Red was demanding the Wolf to watch her. Already we can get a sense of reversed roles, as stereotypically men are seen as more dominating in relationships than woman, but it is Little Red who is dictating in their relationship. Little Red towards the end of the poem, after 10 years of their relationship describes it as year in, year out, season after season, same rhyme, same season. The constant repetition is an imagery how bored Little Red is with her relationship with the greying wolf and that she desires something new in her life, something more exciting. Also, the sibilance emphasises how irritated Little Red is becoming towards her partner, as the s sound mirrors the sound of an evil snake, linking to the next sentence when Little Red describes how she took an axe/to a willow to see how it wept. These two sentences link ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Junior s Adaptation Of The Movie Sin City Comic book inspired movies have never been so popular. Their appeal comes from depicting their stories in the audience s real word. However, what if the big screen at the movie theater could be used to reproduce a panel straight out of a comic book, without worrying about if it looks real ? That is what the movie Sin City does. Sin City is an extremely engaging movie that grasps its audience s attention by its uniqueness. With so many comic book adaptations available, Sin City stands out because of its uncommon visual style, intriguing stories from different characters and for being the result of a collaboration between its own creator and a fan. The visual style of Sin City gives its viewers the impression that they are rather reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The list of memorables is long: Rourke has found his greatest role since The Pope of Greenwich Village. Willis is his usual authoritatively tough and tender self. Owen and Benicio Del Toro (as a menacingly jealous boyfriend named Jackie Boy) are outstanding. The women are equally formidable, including Jessica Alba as Hartigan s icon dream girl; Rosario Dawson as an Uzi packing hooker named Gail; Brittany Murphy as a savvy, tenderhearted waitress who links all three stories; and Devon Aoki as Miho, a deadly streetwalker who uses the same swords we enjoyed in Tarantino s Kill Bill ... • 4. Yorktown Battle Analysis General Washington now had a combined force of over 16,000 American and French Soldiers ready to begin a siege of Cornwallis and his British force of only 7,500 Soldiers. The French Navy had decisively defeated the British Navy. There was no chance of escape for the British, both land and sea routes were blocked. On September 29, 1781, the Battle of Yorktown began. As Washington moved his Army closer to the British, the British would engage them from their defensive positions. Over the next 6 days, the French and Americans would establish their trenches needed to begin the siege. The French and America Armies moved Artillery pieces into position to engage the British. Ready confirms, On October 14, Washington ordered an attack on two British redoubts separated from the town s main defense (Middleton, 2012, pg.387). These two redoubts were the last outer defensive positions of the British Army. The redoubts must be captured, and by the capture, they would all but force the surrender of the British Army, as they would now be in an indefensible position. The Americans would attack redoubt 10. Seventy British Soldiers held it. The French would attack redoubt 9. One hundred twenty British and German Soldiers held it. At 1830, Washington employed a scene of deception. He has ordered troops movement which would appear as if an assault on Yorktown it was about to occur. Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Hamilton (Commanded attack on redoubt 10) told his men not to load their guns. Using only the bayonets at the end of their muskets, Hamilton and his men captured redoubt 10 (Middleton, 2012, pg.385). The French simultaneously assaulted redoubt number 9, and successfully captured the defensive positions. Washington now had the ability to bombard the town of Yorktown from three directions with very little the British could do to stop it. • 5. Technology and Culture Essay Technology and Culture Waiting with anticipation to discover my defining moment, the moment that makes or breaks each student in the class, our final. I sank down in my chair wondering if I would pass or fail the college level English class that I had struggled with all semester. Our teacher walked into the classroom, wearing his usual white pants with a blue collared shirt and a red bow tie. He grinned as his eyes peeked over the rim of his bifocal glasses, as he casually walked to the other end of the classroom. My heart sank into my chest while his words sizzled off his tongue, ESSAY. He then began to inform us that the essay should have at least one book source and 1200 words of information on a topic given. Everyone in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I pushed connect, as I did everyday, but something was different today. When I clicked on the mouse the word ERROR appeared red on my screen. I leaned back, and thought about how this stupid computer was always giving me trouble. I went to unplug it, to begin again. I slid my hand down the back and reached for the plug. I gulped as I realized the enormous computer I had been sitting at this whole time. Without plugging it in again, I sat back in my seat as I began to notice my surroundings. I was sitting in the library at Hotchkiss High School the same library I had sat in for four years. Everything was different though. The chairs were newer looking and the librarian was young. The floor was tiled and there were three computers instead of the usually 22 that I was accustomed to. Not only were there fewer computers, but the computers were huge. I returned to the computer while I rationalized the situation. I plugged the cord back in and the computer began rebooting the screen. The people of Easter Island came over to their new land, and recognized that it was ideal for them to settle. The land was lush; the sea was providing a bounty of fresh fish, and other seafood. • 25. What Is Miss Brill Reality Illusion versus Reality in Miss Brill Is it really okay to talk to yourself as long as you don t talk back? Well, what if your fur piece talks back? In Katherine Mansfield s short story, Miss Brill, it is a quickly established fact that Miss Brill has an odd relationship with her fur necklet (440). But it is the author s descriptive use of symbolism that provides a deeper understanding of Miss Brill s personality. Katherine Mansfield creates the woman in the ermine toque (441) in similarity to Miss Brill to reveal Miss Brill s identity in connection with her own fur piece and invite comparison, which further illustrates Miss Brill s perception of reality. Introduced in the story as simply an ermine toque ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So when the sad little eyes ask, What has been happening to me? (440), it is equivalent to a sad eyed Miss Brill asking herself that same question. Mansfield stresses the importance of evaluating the ermine toque (441) as a symbol by making her the only other character besides Miss Brill who is wearing a fur. However, this is not the only character fact the two women share. Intending to further define Miss Brill s bizarre personality and perception of life, Katherine Mansfield creates the woman in the ermine toque in similarity to Miss Brill. Miss Brill s description of this woman demonstrates that the two women share several character facts. Not only are both women wearing furs, but both women have possessed the furs for some time. Miss Brill refers to the ermine, an originally white fur, as being shabby and having turned yellowish (441), a color such a fur would turn with age. Miss Brill s own fur is old enough to require a dab of black sealing wax on the nose to revive its look from time to time (440). By saying that the woman wearing the ermine hat has taken on the same color of the fur (441), Miss Brill suggests that the woman herself has moved on in years. Miss Brill s own age, which is implied throughout the text, is distastefully proclaimed by the boy in the park, who refers to Miss Brill as that stupid old thing (443). Most importantly, ... Throughout the movie Full Metal Jacket gives us a meaningful experience of the Vietnam war. By using our critical thinking and media skills we can often evaluate what the director is demonstrating and what message he s trying to project. Alexander had the intention of repatriating those veterans who were too wounded or old to continue through the difficult conditions they faced. With no Macedonian troops available to replace them immediately and the strain of having to constantly send back to Macedonia for reinforcements, Alexander had no choice but to turn to the Persians who were trained in Macedonian infantry tactics. His human right on how he wanted to grow up was taken from him and instead he was handed the brink of life or death, along with his father, who was constantly on the edge of death. He often questioned the fact that God was on their side, given the fact that he and thousands more were tortured, beaten, and killed everyday. He also questioned why God would want them to go through this; was it to make them stronger people... or did God just want them to suffer? In the Shmoop video, it states that, Not only can our bodies be tortured, but our souls as well. Elie Wiesel goes through absolute hell everyday and survives it. He was beaten and hurt multiple times by the people watching over them. He was tortured physically. But, he also had to watch his own father decay and struggle.
