How Did The Byzantines Conquer Other Empires
The Byzantines created a weapon, Greek Fire, no person knew how to put the fire out. The Byzantine
Empire joined the 4th Crusade but in the end they lost many of their own land to the Bulgarians. They
joined the religion of Eastern Orthodox and when they conquered additional empires they would make
them convert to Eastern Orthodox. The Byzantine Empire was the capital city of Rome when
Theodora and Justinian was the emperor. The economy in the Byzantine Empire was skyrocketing,
because they were conquering other empires. Every time the Byzantines conquered other empires they
got more land and money which gave them a better economy. Greek Fire was fire that came out of a

In the article titled Why Constantinople was hard to conquer came from a database, mentions that the
walls would only be able to be destroyed if they got exploded by another super weapon. The walls had
many weaknesses it could be exploded ( Why Constantinople was so hard to conquer ). This is just
like when the Great Wall of China was trying to get broke through but it could not without a really
powerful weapon. The Greek Fire was one super weapon that could be able to destroy the walls and
no other empire had a super weapon to destroy it. The Byzantine Empire did have a super weapon.
The Ottomans destroyed the walls with a super weapon of their own which through the Byzantines off
guard. When they got through the walls, they conquered them and that was the end of the Byzantine
Empire. When the Napalm bomb was created the only one that knew about it was the United States.
The U.S. bombed Japan with this weapon, they will not know what just hit them. The U.S. Chemical
Warfare Service added rubber to the gasoline to produce a jelly mixture which would burn longer,
would be harder to put out and would stick to the victim, causing fatal injuries ( Liquid Fire ). When
the Napalm bomb was created it was probably one of the strongest weapons in the world at the time
and no one knew what it was used for. The time of the Greek Fire to the Napalm bomb the more
technology had been advanced so the bomb was stronger. At the time fire was used like bomb, but the
fire kept burning. The fire spread and destroyed everything, a lot of people died from fumes of the
fire, just like the Napalm bombs would kill and

Evaluation Project Background Of Physical Education Essay
Evaluation Project Background
While the term physical literacy is gaining attention in the US as a goal for physical education (PE),
physical literacy (PL) has been used within physical education in other countries such as Europe,
Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The internationally accepted definition of PL is the motivation,
confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for
engagement in physical activities for life (Whitehead, 2013). The conception of physical literacy in the
US derives from the need to address increasing rates of obesity in youth. Physical education
curriculum provides an indispensable opportunity in the establishment of physical literacy, however
the aim of PL is to move beyond specific proficiency in specific activities to inclusiveness of all
abilities and focuses on competencies in a variety of movements and environments.
In 2014, Society of Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) America released the National Standards
Grade Level Outcomes for K 12 Physical Education. One of the key changes to this third iteration of
the national standards was the incorporation of the term physical literacy based on the founding work
of Margret Whitehead (2001, 2007, and 2010). Based on Whitehead s model, SHAPE America
identified the following elements for developing PL in PE programs in the US (adapted from Roetert
MacDonald, 2015):
1. A positive attitude towards physical activity through having

Theories And Theories Of Psychoanalytic Theories
I appreciated the information provided in the appendix, being able to learn about several theories and
having Worthington discuss the conflicts with these theories, What I found is that I agreed with most
of the theories and when I read the critique I was able to understand the flaws and how they may not
be entirely accurate. This has opened my mind to wanting to explore more about these theories so that
I am able to be aware of several theories to possible use as I practice. Worthington discussed theories
of psychoanalytic, systems, behavioral, cognitive, and Christian.
Psychoanalytic Marriage Therapies Nadelson s Theory. His theory is that problems are seen as due to

The main focus of psychodynamic therapy is understanding problems and not changing the problem.
This therapy can possible be effective with the use of other theories, as in order to change a problem
one needs to be aware of the problems.
Marital Systems Theories Bowen s Theory. This theory focusses on the emotional state of family,
through emotional process and intellectual processes. Bowen introduces three techniques the
emotional pursuer distancer pattern, the I position and explicit teaching. These are interesting
techniques that I could see myself using, but as I read further to his stages of therapy I was a little

communication on both sender and receiver. MRI focuses on the pragmatics and using behavioral
communication to help the couple. The example that was given helped me to understand the concept

Selling Products Online Should Be A Part Of Every Business...
In this day and age, selling products online should be a part of every business owner s marketing
strategy. The Internet has completely changed the way we communicate with others, and by utilizing
the Internet for your business, you have the potential to have hundreds, even thousands of customers
from all over the world finding you online on a daily basis. The problem is that most people do not
know how to set themselves up online, and even those that do still fail because they do not know how
to market themselves. In this article we ll explore the basics of selling products online.
If you re going to be selling products online, you first need a website or a blog. You can build a low
cost blog (you just need to pay for hosting) through platforms like WordPress, or you can go with a
fully functioning small business website for about $30.00 a month through companies such as Site
Build It. I m not going to get into the nitty gritty of building a website here, but know that there are
lots of companies out there that provide the necessary tools to get you online quickly and painlessly,
even if you have no technical skills whatsoever.
In addition to having your own website, you also need to market yourself. This might seem like a very
daunting task, but it s actually not that difficult. In fact, you can choose to do all of your marketing
online for free if you like. I suggest getting started with sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube,
which are just a few of the social

Optometrists diagnose and treat eye disorders and diseases, injuries, and visual problems. They are
probably most well known for prescribing glasses or contact lenses to patients with myopia

Compare And Contrast Suburban And Homecoming
The quality and importance of life are looked at by most as a valuable and great gift, but this
perception of someone s life is stated differently by the two poets, David Malouf and Bruce Dawe.
The poems Suburban and Homecoming express life through the eyes of two separate groups, one
being a stereotypical individual and the other, a group of men fighting for their own lives. Poetry
offers many hidden meanings within their stories, Suburban and Homecoming are no different
offering two distinct takes on the meaning of life. Whether that be shown through war, or a Sunday
morning after a long night out, both poems convey the emotions of life, both positively and negatively.
Homecoming by Bruce Dawe describes the homecoming of dead Australian Soldiers from the
Vietnamese War, (lines 2 3). The poem has its poet expressing his opinions on man s response to wars
and how vital human life is, the soldier need to be brought home and the brutality and futility of wars
between the human s race. In contrast, Suburban, by David Malouf, expresses to the reader the facade
of modern suburbia, lukewarm residency clouded by public idealism and picket fences. Suburban
suggests similar themes of masked anxieties by apparent political or social orders, which is clearly
expressed through the way Malouf describes modern suburbia; as dull and emotionless. Homecoming
directly contrasts this and describes a chaotic and destructive, this is demonstrated through the entirety
of the poem, poetic

Results of the DNA plate coincide with the expectation of lawn growth due to the non selective Luria
broth and agar plate which allows for almost anything to grow. The DNA/+AMP labeled plate also
yields expected results with no bacterial cell growth. The cells do not contain DNA plasmid that
encode for the antibiotic resistant gene, preventing the formation of the bacterial cell wall. There is a
discrepancy in the agar plate labeled +DNA/+AMP because a blue colony is observed and the plate
contains bacterial cells. This unexpected growth could be due to cross contamination with the
+DNA/+AMP/+IPTG plate. For the last plate (+DNA/+AMP/+IPTG), the observations solidify the
expectancy of minimal bacterial growth with production of pigmentation. One colony is observed with
satellite cells, in addition to a miniscule spot of blue pigmentation. The Competent cells are capable of
resisting ampicillin. IPTG, the inducible promoter, results in the production of color. With gene
regulation, competent cells can acclimate to their environment due to methods of turning genes on and
off5.
This experiment was completed to conduct bacterial transformation and introduce ampicillin resistant
DNA plasmid to E. coli bacterial cells. Observations are made of the difference in cell growth due to
various environments provided within agar

Feminist Student Culture And The Issues Of Postsecondary...
The purpose of this literature review is to synthesize and discuss feminist student culture and the
issues in postsecondary education. First, the paper reviews the various definitions and movements
surrounding feminism. In addition, the paper analyzes the perspectives of women and men and
whether they support or are against feminist student culture. Lastly, the paper discusses
recommendations and future research for student affairs professions to maintain feminist student
culture in higher education.
Understanding feminism
Feminism in the United States is often separated into three waves (Vaccaro, 2009, Vernet Butera,
2005). The first wave began during the late 1800s to early 20th century, women began fighting for
gender equality, emancipation, and economic rights, which lasted through the woman suffrage
movement (Breen Karpinski, 2008; Vaccaro, 2009; Vernet Butera, 2005). Dissatisfied with women s
status, women fought for social, economical, and political equality by ratifying the 19th Amendment.
However, anti feminists viewed gender equality as a minor issue and compared women to uncivilized
populations (Vernet Butera, 2005). After ratifying the 19th Amendment, the second wave peeked
during 1960s to 1970 s social movement. Women wanted control of their bodies, freely chosen
maternity, end domestic violence, and equality in a male society (Vernet Butera, 2005). The gap
between the first and second wave was separated by a long hiatus period but inspired campus

The Concepts Of Separate Personality And Limited Liability...
This essay will explain the concepts of separate personality and limited liability and their significance
in company law. The principle of separate personality is defined in the Companies Act 2006(CA) ;
subscribers to the memorandum, together with such other persons as may from time to time become
members of the company are a body corporate by the name contained in memorandum. This
essentially means that a company is a separate legal personality to its members and therefore can itself
be sued and enter into contracts. This theory was birthed into company law through the case of
Salomon v Salomon and Co LTD 1872. This case involved a company entering liquidation and the
unsecured creditors not being able to claim assets to compensate them. The issue in this case was
whether Mr Salomon owed the money or the company did. In the end, the House of Lords held that
the company was not an agent of Mr Salomon and so the debts were that of the company thus creating
the corporate Veil . It seems understandable that a business should exist as a separate legal personality
as it would be impossible for an individual s motives and goals to be perfectly in line with that of the
company as is demonstrated above in Salomon. Following this theory the idea that the rights and
duties of a company are not that of its members and shareholders as demonstrated in the case of Lee v
Lee Air Farming . The principle of separate personality has had many implications on company law

Hezekiah Vs Sennacherib Essay
Sennacherib vs. Hezekiah In both the Taylor Prism of Sennacherib and 2 Kings 18 19, the event of
Judah attacked by Sennacherib is described. However, as both are compared Sennacherib s story is
more boastful and feels to be less truthful because of its boastful nature. They do share components
and allow the study of the people, but both stories differ as well. The one thing that could help decide
the truthfulness of each story is to know what really happened that night. Within the first paragraph of
the Taylor Prism of Sennacherib, praises to Sennacherib fill about half of the paragraph and the other
is about Assur blessing him to be so powerful (p. 112). For the first paragraph to be about his own

Have you ever wondered why animals are used in experimentation? Each year over 100 million are
killed due to experiments for biology lessons, medical training, chemical, drug, food, cosmetic testing,
and curiosity driven experimentation. The better question is why? Why use animal when there are
many alternatives. Animals may not be able to speak up for themselves but humans have a voice for
them. Many people have participated in protest, taken surveys, and created organizations to protect
animals from the cruelty. Did you know that animals that are found in laboratories are not all legally
protected? There are a couple organizations provided by Legal Animal Defense Fund that protect
animals from being illegally used, such as Association for Assessment and Accreditation of
Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) and mandatory Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees
(IACUC). AAALAC is an organization that promotes the humane treatments of animals used in
experiments. On their website they explain that animal research is known as controversial topic. But

There are many pro and cons with the matter. A pro may be considered to be that Animal testing has
contributed to many life saving cures and treatments, according to an article. A con can be considered
to be that Animals can suffer like humans do, so it is speciesism to experiment on them while we
refrain from experimenting on humans. (Should Animals be used for Scientific or Commercial
Testing? 2017) Using animals can cause scientist to use misleading information and avoid finding
cures, just because drugs pass tests on animals doesn t mean that it is safe for humans to use either.
Even though the human body anatomy is occasionally closer to the test subjects doesn t mean that the
results are accurate. This is taking advantage of animals when scientist use misleading information to

Coca Cola And India Case Study
1. What aspects of U.S. culture ad of Indian culture may have been causes of Coke s difficulties in
India?
India and the United States have vastly different cultures. When doing business in foreign countries,
great care must be taken to recognize the culture of the country in order to avoid problems, such as the
ones Coca Cola experienced in India. In addition, business practices and governmental policies are
different between India and the U.S. Coca Cola should have taken care to study and familiarize itself
with the regulatory practices of India prior to doing business there. As most everyone knows, the
recipe of Coca Cola has long been held secret. When the Indian government demanded to be provided
the secret formula in 1977, Coke pulled out from doing business in India, returning 17 years later in
1993.
India scores high in power distance, where the communication is from the top down and authority is
for the most part not questioned and just accepted. In that regard, when pesticides were found in high
concentrations in some coke products, it was difficult to convince Indians or the Minister of Health
that Coke s products were safe. Another issue that may have caused Coke s difficulties in India relate
to communication. The U.S. is a low context culture, where communication is expected to be direct
and clear. In contrast, India is a high context culture, where often times meanings and direction are
often implied. Of the organizational structures, India falls

Early American Artist Benjamin West
And I looked and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with
him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with
hunger and with death, and with beast of the earth. [Rev. 6:8] Early American artist Benjamin West,
details his conception of the scripture in his smaller study Death on the Pale Horse, in which the Four
Horsemen of the Apocalypse Death, War, Famine and Pestilence waste the earth. Considered in his
earlier works as a Neoclassical painter, his later works began to shift in the new direction of
Romanticism. This transition of art was meant to evoke an emotion within the viewer. Recalling the

Format, Proportion and Scale: Death on the Pale White Horse, created in the year 1817 is painted
horizontally through the application of oil on canvas. The dimensions 176 inches x 301 inches. that
correspond to the scale of the figures within the painting come across disproportional and are
somewhat misleading to that of the overall height and width of the piece. However, undisturbed by
the edges of the canvas, the centralized pyramid shape : formed by the figures in conjunction to those
figures within the foreground and the background, is not only placed harmoniously but sporadically
together to begin the process of guiding the viewers eyes across the canvas.
Viewpoint:
From what can be understood by the viewer, West has created the piece with a head on perspective.
Through the use of many imaginative sharp diagonal lines, that can be drawn from either the more
centralized figures whose hand rest atop his head and back is turned toward the viewer or the figure
from the far left corner who learns at an angle and holds a spear across his body, towards the very last
beast that is placed near the far upper right corner, West is able to create space and distance. The
pyramidal construction of figures, foreshortening, and atmospheric perspective also work collectively
to draw the viewer into the painting more closely.

I Married An Angel Mise En Scene
For this post, the first video I had chosen was Jeanette MacDonald and Binnie Barnes sang A Twinkle
in Her Eye in a 1942 musical film called I Married an Angel. By watching the clip only, I thought the
style of this recording was like an operetta. It had spoken parts to tell the light story. The sounds that
came out of the characters were very soft, even though the singing technique was more like the one
that was commonly used in operas, and the lyrics were pretty approachable. Also, I had noticed that
the acting in this piece, including dancing, was somewhat exaggerated. I considered that those
theatrical facial expressions and moves were expressed to aim to please the audiences.
The second video I had watched was Jerry Orbach led the original cast of the 1980 Broadway musical
42nd Street to perform Lullaby of Broadway on the Tony Awards. Clearly, there were more dancing
components involved in this show. The choreography was great because it could well coordinate with
the lyrics and the emotion of the characters, which allowed audiences to deeply engage in the show.
Also, the storyline was relatively clear, I could easily understand what was happening at that moment
without knowing the context. But I was shocked by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was clear that there were a plenty of modern elements had been utilized in this show. Meanwhile, the
style of the stage performance was amazing because I did not feel uncomfortable or awkward even
though it was still a little bit exaggerated. In fact, I was pretty engaged in this recording when I

Medium Mass Star
The mass of a star dictates its whole life. Vega is a medium mass star, so it has about 10 billion years
to live overall. Vega about 25 light years away, as well. Vega has an absolute magnitude of 0.58, and a
temperature of 9,602 K. This medium mass star follows on the same path as any other medium mass
star: First star birth, then through the main sequence, into a red giant, contracted into a white dwarf,
and finally cooled into a black dwarf. Vega started out its life just as any other star, as a nebula. The
cloud of dust and gas condenses and temperatures rise, until it is hot enough for fusion of hydrogen
into helium can take place. When Vega was able to fuse hydrogen into helium, it was classified as a
main sequence star, which is the phase in it s life cycle that it is currently in. To be a main sequence
star, the star must be capable of fusing hydrogen into helium, which means Vega still hasn t run out of
hydrogen to fuse. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once this happens, outward pressure will stop and the star s core will start to collapse, and
temperatures will rise to a temperature that is hot enough to fuse helium into carbon and some oxygen.
At this point, Vega will no longer be in the main sequence, and will begin to expand into a red giant,
which is cool and bright. After Vega expands as far as it can, and runs out of helium to fuse, outward
pressure will increase, once again, and the outer layers of Vega will be pushed away, causing a
planetary nebula to be composed. The remaining core is a hot, dim white dwarf. In the end, the white
dwarf will cool into a black dwarf, which is mostly made of carbon and oxygen. When Vega is a black
dwarf, it will finished with it s life

Anglo Saxon Hero Essay
The period of the Anglo Saxon stretched from 410 to 1066, which was six hundred years. Anglo
Saxon is used to refer to a period of history in Britain, which was the years between the end of Roman
occupation and the Norman Conquest. The term Anglo Saxon has been historically used to describe
many members of the Germanic peoples. The Angles, Saxons, and Jutes were Germanic people that
the Anglo Saxons descended from. The Anglo Saxon people spoke their own dialects that later became
known as Old English. When the Anglo Saxons settled in Britain, the Jutes and the Frisians from
Denmark were also settling in Britain. The Anglo Saxons kept living in their old ways and did not try
accepting the ways the Jutes and the Frisians lived. The Anglo Saxons acted as their own master of

kings were known to be courageous and by showing this great courage, they succeeded in many wars
they were involved in. The Anglo Saxons brought their religious beliefs with them and it was not until
Saint Augustine arrived in 597 that their religious belief changed. The Pope in Rome sent Saint

The Conflict Of The Congo
In the year 1876, King Leopold II of Belgium began to display an interest in the civilization mission in
Africa. The documents on European Imperialism provide evidence for how the individuals in the
Congo are being exploited for European benefit, under the profit making aim of King Leopold II.
European brutality in the Congo was the logical result of the European desire to implement proper
civilization in the Congo, albeit through a lack of cultural understanding and compassion towards the
people of Congo. First, the document Selections from the 1885 Berlin Act (Treaty) was an outline to
the European people that King Leopold II had good intentions for his mission in the Congo. However,
it depicted the contradiction of what his true intentions were and what had actually occurred. King
Leopold outlined six Declarations for what he desired to change for the Congo. Leopold stated, for
instance, his desire to create a change in the freedom of trade for the people of the Congo, as well the
creation of a Declaration relative to the slave trade, and the operations by sea or land which furnish
slaves to that trade. These Declarations relate to the thesis of how the Europeans were directed in a
way to think it was logical to create a change in the significant issues in the Congo. The Europeans
were lead to believe these six Declarations would benefit the civilization of the Congo, by doing no
harm. In actual fact. Leopold fails to point out how he intends to follow

My Memories A Favorite Memory
An individual s childhood memory has impacted them in some way whether it be emotionally or
physically. From one memory to another, good or bad, develops the entity of a person s personality or
logic. I considered one of my worst memories a favorite memory because, from that experience, I
gained development as an individual. The start of that development occurred on vacation without my
parents attending. Like any other child, I became very enthusiastic of the whole idea of freedom and
self guidance. After the majority of the trip, I became uninterested with self guidance and I wanted to
rely on the adults to plan fun filled activities. I was very disappointed with the fact that their lack of
authority and action lead to an uneventful vacation. I began to miss my parents guidance because with
every request or action they took it was in all the best interest of me. Whether it was to hold my hand
across the road or watch the things I eat, all of it was intended for my growth and safety. It was then
that I realized how much my parents really cared for me and it made me grow to respect their wishes
even more. Concisely what began as a getaway from my parents resulted in a realization of how much
I should appreciate and respect them.

Running Head: RESPIRATORY SYNCYTIAL VIRUS
Respiratory Syncytial Virus
Breanna Kennelly

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) causes acute respiratory tract infection in patients of all ages and is
one of the most popular diseases of childhood. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection, which
manifests primarily as bronchiolitis and/or viral pneumonia, is the leading cause of lower respiratory
tract (LRT) infection in infants and young children. RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis
(inflammation of the small airways in the lungs) and pneumonia in children under one year of age in
the United States. During the first year of life, most infants are infected with the virus. Most RSV

RSV is more prevalent during winter and early spring in temperate climates, although timing may
differ among locations. In most cases, healthy infants infected with RSV do not need to be
hospitalized, recovery from illness usually occurs in about one to two weeks. Adults with
compromised immune systems and premature infants and children with congenital heart and lung
defects are at a higher risk for severe disease and hospitalization (www.aapredbook.com). RSV
infection is limited to the respiratory tract. Respiratory Syncytial Virus affects the respiratory system
causing an interruption of the normal physiology of the lungs which are the main organs affected. The
lungs are a pair of cone shaped bodies that occupy the thorax. The lungs have two vital functions air
distribution and gas exchange. In addition to attending as an air distribution pathway and gas
exchange surface the components of the respiratory tract cleanse, warm and humidify inspired air.
RSV affects the lungs by inflaming the small airways and decreasing the oxygen flow in and out,
thereby affecting the capacity for normal oxygen exchange. Initial infection in young infants or
children frequently involves the LRT and most often manifests as the clinical entity of bronchiolitis.
Inoculation of the virus occurs in the URT in respiratory epithelial cells [ (Leonard R Krilov, 2010) ].
Spread of the virus down the respiratory tract occurs by

Predicting Behavior by Attitudes Essay
Predicting Behavior by Attitudes
Attitudes can be very complex, a product or service may be composed of many attributes or qualities
some of which may be more important than others to certain people. Furthermore, a persons decision
to act on his or her attitude is affected by other factors, such as approval by family and friends. For
this reason, multiattribute models have been constructed and are extremely popular among marketing
research.
Many models have been constructed but the most influential model is that of Fishbein 1973. The
Fishbein multiattribute model argues that attitudes can predict behaviour. It measures three
components of attitude. Salient beliefs people have about an attitude ... Show more content on

In many cases knowledge of a person s attitude is not a very good predictor of behaviour. Many
studies have obtained a very low correlation between a person s reported attitude towards something
and his or her actual behaviour towards it. (Wicker 1969). For, instance Stacey 1981 found only a
small correlation between attitudes and alcohol consumption. Furthermore, the model doesn t consider
people s past behaviour, despite evidence that this is a good predictor of future behaviour. (Bagozzi
1991). Previous performance of a behaviour helps to explain the extent of the person s actual
behavioural control in a particular situation. (Kashima et al 1992).
Following on from this criticism the Fishbein model was extended to improve its predictive ability.
This revised version is the theory of reasoned action (Azjen and Fishbein 1977) and assumes that
behaviour is a function of the intention to perform that behaviour. This new model measures
behavioural intentions, recognising uncontrollable factors, and the power of other peoples influence.
The subjective norm has been added to include the effects of what we believe other people think we
should do and also the

understanding that man produces evil as a bee produces honey, must have been blind or wrong in the
head. In Lord of the Flies, which was published in 1954, Golding combined that perception of
humanity with his years of experience with schoolboys. (1) His writing mostly depicted his

Golding knew we all had evil in us and it is a matter of time before we can t hold it back anymore and

Family Values In American Family
In 1840s, Asian American community began to be formed when a large number of Chinese
immigrants arrived in the United States as contract laborers. Immigration from Asian countries has
increased since 1970s. The two types of Asian immigrants coming to America at this time were
voluntarily immigrants and refugees. While Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese are immigrants who came to
the United States for business purposes, Vietnamese, Laos, and Cambodian are refugees who tried to
escape their countries in the World War II.
The majority of Asian American first generation come from a strong tradition of extended and kinship
ties. Although these ties are disconnected during migration, they have been quickly reconstructed to
shape family patterns in the historical periods (Zhou 29). Contemporary Asian immigrants from
different countries of origin mostly come with their families. They also bring their cultures and values
in their home country to the United States. There are some common family values in the Asian
American family that are distinguishable, such as emphasis on the centrality of the family, filial piety,
respect for the elders, and reverence for tradition and education. While these traditional values offer a
strong moral basis sustaining the Asian American family, they have often clashed with dominant
American cultural values and have caused emotional pain and detrimental consequences in the family
and community (Zhou 30). Other than that, when the first wave of Asian immigrants

The Vulnerabilities And Cyber Kill Chain
A. ICS Vulnerabilities and Cyber Kill Chain
1. Reconnaissance Summarize plausible active gathering, passive gathering, and active reconnaissance
techniques that the adversary could have executed to gain intelligence on the target in the scenario.
Reconnaissance is the act of collecting background research necessary to identify and select targets.
(1) Cyber reconnaissance is an important stage of a well organized cyber attack, and is also one of the
most time consuming activities. This phase can exploit the information gathered about the target s
weaknesses. The type of information the hacker is looking for is how to actually get in: firewall ports
that are open, network hosts, services that are running. Critical information that should be obtained
during the reconnaissance phase include network information, host information, security policies, and
human information.
Active reconnaissance is a type of computer attack in which an intruder engages with the targeted
system to gather information about vulnerabilities. (2) This type of information gathering involves
doing something on the target network, which could potentially be tracked back to you. The idea of
this phase is to gather IP addresses, subnet masks, network topologies, user names, operating systems,
firewalls, password requirements and change frequency.
Passive reconnaissance is focused more around public information and not engaging with the targeted
systems. Typical passive reconnaissance can include

The Social Action Theory and Symbolic Interactionism Essay
The Social Action Theory and Symbolic Interactionism Max Weber believed that individuals were the
key to society. He developed social action theory, the purpose of which was to find out why
individuals function in certain ways. He thought that every social action performed by an individual
had a meaning attached to it. Social actions are the result of conscious thought processes that take into
consideration the reactions of other individuals. Weber identified four types of social action which
include, reason (an instrumentally rational or calculated action), value or rational action (determined
by belief), emotion or effectual action (dependent upon the feelings of the individual), and traditional

These properties could be exchanged for money in the economic market he was of the opinion that
this position in the economic market place determined class position so that in theory there would be
as many class positions as economic positions. Therefore the class structure of society is essentially an
occupation structure. Social action theory recognises other divisions apart from simply class and also
recognises that consumption of goods (by which status groups are stratified) is just as important as the
production (by which class is stratified). It also draws attention to the importance of the individual and
their conscious actions. It does not however place enough emphasis on class divisions, as it tends to
concentrate more on status. Symbolic interactionists reject structure and believe that to study society,
the only way to do so is to concentrate on the individual. Both theories believe in understanding the
individual through the use of empathy. George Herbert Mead was mainly concerned with the
importance of language. Language distinguishes humans from animals and allows us to be aware of
our individuality. The use of symbols is a key element of language. They are used to give meanings to
particular events or objects and are learned by socialisation. Humans make them to assist them to

under there terms the borrower has to pay fixed interest, which is called coupon rate, on the loan and

Summary Of Monica Ferrell
Monica Ferrell s, Of the Irresoubleness of Diamonds, Harmless, As Recalled by a Fairy Tale, Gerburt
des Monicakinds, and Beautiful Funeral each employ four different grammatical issues such as
attributive adjectives, finite verb strings, non finite verb strings, active voice and the known new
contract throughout her poems. By incorporating these grammatical issues into her work, Ferrell
intends to develop a clear and sharp image to ignite the imagination of her readers. The poems Of the
Irresoubleness of Diamonds, Harmless, As Recalled by a Fairy Tale, Gerburt des Monicakinds and
Beautiful Funeral were written by poet and novelist Monica Ferrell. Monica Ferrell was born in New
Dehli. She earned her BA from Harvard University and MFA from Columbia University (Poetry
Foundation). Ferrell discusses the role of uncertainty in her poems. She states, I m trying to let
something that wants to come into being do so poetry as uncovering, rather than invention or rhetoric,
and a form of devotion and service . (Poetry Foundation). By using several grammar techniques
Ferrell paints a bright image for her readers to ponder upon. Ferrell is an atypical poet and uses a
variety of forms to convey her simple and lyrical tone throughout them. One of the reasons that I
chose her poems is because of the strong, lyrical language she uses to convey the imagery and earnest
tone. Her attitude throughout these three poems remains quizzical. Monica

Boethius And Stoicism In The Consolation Of Philosophy
Marcus Aurelius in Meditations, believes that practicing stoicism will bring a person true happiness.
Stoicism is an act of independence, and having a state of mind that all things that happen in life are
meant to happen. Regardless what happens, stoics do not let it affect their actions or state of mind.
Boethius in The Consolation of Philosophy, believes happiness is recognizing that a man s desires
being fulfilled is not true happiness, but having a relationship with God is true happiness. Religion is
practicing a healthy relationship with your God. A healthy relationship would be keeping God as a
priority. Boethius and Marcus Aurelius both come up with philosophies that are in place for a person
to reach a epidemy in life of true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wrote a textbook on music that was used until modern times. Boethius did many great things in his
life, until he was charged with conspiring to deliver Rome from his rule, and was thrown into prison
for the rest of his life. It is questioned whether his philosophy stands, due to the way he conspired it.
Boethius was chained up in a dark dungeon, when a woman appeared in front of him. This was the
start of the Consolation of Philosophy, and it is debatable whether he was crazy or simply just using
her as a literary device for our reading. Marcus Aurelius lived around 140 A.D., which was considered
Ancient Era He was known as one of the greatest rulers of all time. Meditations was wrote from the
journal of Marcus Aurelius. His philosophy was very simple. He did not want to start a riot with his
philosophy, but he practiced it within himself. Although steeped in the teachings of philosophy, he did
not attempt to remodel the world on any preconceived plan (Meditations p 68).
Both men, although living in two different eras, proposed a way to live life in a way that will bring
true happiness into your life. Boethius strived for a relationship with God. The woman that appeared
before him was there to tell him that there is no more time to be miserable, even with the conditions
that he was under, and to carry on. But it is rather time, saith she, to apply remedies, than to make
complaints . (Consolation 120). Boethius believed that

No Regert Analysis
No Regerts . I m sure most of you have seen pictures online of people proudly posing with their
tattoos that read No regerts . And of course that s kind of redundant because now they have a tattoo
that they surely regret the spelling of. Regret. Something almost everyone has to live with on a daily
basis. But what is regret? Regret is defined as a feeling of sadness, repentance, or disappointment over
something that has happened or been done. Not having any regrets is something a lot of people pride
themselves on. But is regret really that bad? You probably think I m crazy for saying that, but the fact
is, not being able to feel regret is a characteristic of a sociopath. So unless you want to be committed
to a psych ward, you have to learn to live with the regret you have. The fear of regretting the decisions
you make is so intense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now I m sure most of you after hearing that probably feel secondhand embarrassment, because well,
what happened was pretty bad. And this was in the 1st half of the ceremony so Ellie, Grace, and I had
to sit in the lobby for like 45 minutes. While we were sitting there, hundreds of thoughts went through
my head. The first component of regret I felt was denial. For about 5 minutes after we walked out, the
only thing I could think of was There is NO way that just happened. I tried to convince myself I was
dreaming, because there is absolutely NO WAY I just got kicked out of my best friend s bat mitzvah in
front of about 300 people. The next thing I felt was just flat out bewilderment. Like Oh my god I
cannot believe that just happened. How did that even happen. What am I gonna do? Then I was like, I
have to run into traffic and just end it right here But I quickly got over the shock and the events just

Network Technology, Structure, And Protocols
Introduction
This paper is about basic network technology, structure, and protocols. This paper will cover the
module question Discuss how the structure of the TCP IP framework has enabled the expansion of the
Internet into a worldwide network. Discuss issues with this network. Is it big enough? Are enough IP
addresses for all? What is being done under IPV6? This will be accomplished by addressing the crore
topics as well as how IP started to grow, the issues with the network in regards to technological
limitations as well as the different types of vulnerabilities and attacks. This paper will conclude with a
summary.
Structure of TCP IP and expansion In the beginning, the internet was without form. It was in the early
phases with agencies such as DARPA and educational institutes that we laying the ground for what the
internet turned into. However, as the internet grew, not everyone used the same communication
method so there had to be gateways installed on the border of networks in order to translate one type
of protocol into another (Bellovin, S. M.). This was not good so the advent of TCP IP was constructed.
This allowed for uniformed communication and thus brought on the rapid expansion of the internet.
The internet follows the open systems interconnect model (OSI) developed by Charles Bachman at
Honeywell Information Services, this consists of seven layers. 1. The physical layer, this includes both
wired and wireless forms of communication. An Ethernet cable or

Fun Home By Alison Bechdel
In her graphic memoir Fun Home, Alison Bechdel records her unusual relationship with her late father
Bruce Bechdel and reveals her family secrets. Through Chapter Three she speculates about the reason
of her father s death after first knowing the catastrophe. By applying the allusion between writer
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald s famous character Jay Gatsby, and her father, Bechdel
effectively presents the tragic nature of her father that he lives in the fictional world created by
himself.
In this allusion, Bechdel first describes her father s reverence for Fitzgerald, highlighting the deep
influence of Fitzgerald on her father that he was fascinated by Fitzgerald s lifestyle and sentiment. She
then shifts the parallel between her father and Fitzgerlad to her father and Fitzgerald s renowned
character Gatsby. Later Bechdel realized that these three people all died at the same age, month, and
week, and began wondering that her father s death is a suicide caused by his own personality.
When Bechdel presents how her late father and Fitzgerald s character Gatsby are similar, she writes
that: Gatsby s self willed metamorphosis from farm boy to prince is in many ways identical to my
father (63). The first and foremost matching point of these two people, according to Bechdel, is their
self willed metamorphosis, a major change in the character of one person that happened because of
one s stubborn or willful adherence to his own desire (63). These two people do

Joyce Migraine Tobias Wolff
Even together, people were as solitary as cows in a field chewing their own cud, writes Wolff (123).
This is an idea that seems to be deeply ingrained in Joyce s consciousness, but does it represent how
she truly feels deep down? Joyce seems to put on this facade of a strong self reliant woman when, in
reality, she relies more on her roommate Dina than she would care to admit. Throughout Tobias Wolff
s Migraine, Joyce insists on being independent; however, Dina s leaving seemly causes her headaches,
which can only be eased by the love and comfort that accompanies Dina s touch. Joyce s perceived
independence fuels her idea that solitude will help the pain in her head subside. She seems to be
reluctant to accept help from others and almost self pitying to the point that reader s wonder how
badly she truly wants her migraine to go away. Whatever people gave you from their overflowing
hearts they remembered, and expected you to remember, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The part of the story where Joyce s love is best seen occurs when she is told about a couple being
injured while lying in bed together and Wolff states, And the same would be true if the waterbed had
fallen on her and Dina instead of them, (124). This line of the story is particularly interesting because
it hints at the fact that Joyce imagines her and Dina in bed together, side by side. Not to mention more
subtle clues throughout the story such as when Joyce first enters and observes her and Dina s
apartment: Suitcases [were] still packed for a visit to Dina s parents, which they d never made because
Joyce got sick, (122). Could it have been her own nervousness that caused Joyce to feel this way? If
so, why would she be so nervous to meet Dina s parents unless she is in love? For readers, it is clear
that Joyce loves Dina. However, it is unclear whether or not Dina reciprocates these

Gold Rush Challenges
Being a gold prospector during the Gold Rush was inarguably one of the most challenging obstacles a
human being could ever face. Some might even consider the lengths people were willing to go to for
gold rather reckless and idiotic because of how menacing these obstacles were. The challenges that
people during the Gold Rush faced, while somewhat incomprehensible to people now, was an
extremely important goal to people in the 1800 s. In the articles Race to the Klondike and All About
the Klondike Gold Mines , these challenges are thoroughly described and include examples of how
people lived during the Gold Rush, one of the most terrifying journeys in history. In the article Race to
the Klondike , the author goes in explicit detail about the mind boggling challenges faced during the
Gold Rush, including the treacherous journey. The travel was arguably the most gruelling part of the

People that were inclined to look for gold were forced to make beds in the numbing cold of the snow,
which made for unfortunate living conditions. The food had to be carefully looked after so that it was
not eaten by animals, and when it turned dark it was mandatory to tie their food up in trees.
Forgetfulness would not be tolerated when it came to looking after your food because if you forgot to
tie it up, even once, you would face starvation or have to turn back and abandon your aspiration to
locate gold. The journey felt like an extensively long time, and they had to make camp often because
of the heavy luggage that was impossible to bear for excessive periods of time. These situations were
bound to turn anybody weary and, from an outsider s perspective, even be enough for a person to
desert your ambition of finding riches completely, but people in the past managed to endure these
problems, despite them being some of the hardest challenges ever

The Greek Fire was one super weapon that could be able to destroy the walls and no other empire had a super weapon to destroy it. The Byzantine Empire did have a super weapon. The Ottomans destroyed the walls with a super weapon of their own which through the Byzantines off guard. When they got through the walls, they conquered them and that was the end of the Byzantine Empire. When the Napalm bomb was created the only one that knew about it was the United States. The U.S. bombed Japan with this weapon, they will not know what just hit them. The U.S. Chemical Warfare Service added rubber to the gasoline to produce a jelly mixture which would burn longer, would be harder to put out and would stick to the victim, causing fatal injuries ( Liquid Fire ). When the Napalm bomb was created it was probably one of the strongest weapons in the world at the time and no one knew what it was used for. The time of the Greek Fire to the Napalm bomb the more technology had been advanced so the bomb was stronger. At the time fire was used like bomb, but the fire kept burning. • 4. Evaluation Project Background Of Physical Education Essay Evaluation Project Background While the term physical literacy is gaining attention in the US as a goal for physical education (PE), physical literacy (PL) has been used within physical education in other countries such as Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The internationally accepted definition of PL is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life (Whitehead, 2013). The conception of physical literacy in the US derives from the need to address increasing rates of obesity in youth. Physical education curriculum provides an indispensable opportunity in the establishment of physical literacy, however the aim of PL is to move beyond specific proficiency in specific activities to inclusiveness of all abilities and focuses on competencies in a variety of movements and environments. In 2014, Society of Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) America released the National Standards Grade Level Outcomes for K 12 Physical Education. One of the key changes to this third iteration of the national standards was the incorporation of the term physical literacy based on the founding work of Margret Whitehead (2001, 2007, and 2010). Based on Whitehead s model, SHAPE America identified the following elements for developing PL in PE programs in the US (adapted from Roetert MacDonald, 2015): 1. Compare And Contrast Suburban And Homecoming The quality and importance of life are looked at by most as a valuable and great gift, but this perception of someone s life is stated differently by the two poets, David Malouf and Bruce Dawe. The poems Suburban and Homecoming express life through the eyes of two separate groups, one being a stereotypical individual and the other, a group of men fighting for their own lives. Poetry offers many hidden meanings within their stories, Suburban and Homecoming are no different offering two distinct takes on the meaning of life. Whether that be shown through war, or a Sunday morning after a long night out, both poems convey the emotions of life, both positively and negatively. Homecoming by Bruce Dawe describes the homecoming of dead Australian Soldiers from the Vietnamese War, (lines 2 3). The poem has its poet expressing his opinions on man s response to wars and how vital human life is, the soldier need to be brought home and the brutality and futility of wars between the human s race. In contrast, Suburban, by David Malouf, expresses to the reader the facade of modern suburbia, lukewarm residency clouded by public idealism and picket fences. In addition, the paper analyzes the perspectives of women and men and whether they support or are against feminist student culture. Lastly, the paper discusses recommendations and future research for student affairs professions to maintain feminist student culture in higher education. Understanding feminism Feminism in the United States is often separated into three waves (Vaccaro, 2009, Vernet Butera, 2005). The first wave began during the late 1800s to early 20th century, women began fighting for gender equality, emancipation, and economic rights, which lasted through the woman suffrage movement (Breen Karpinski, 2008; Vaccaro, 2009; Vernet Butera, 2005). Dissatisfied with women s status, women fought for social, economical, and political equality by ratifying the 19th Amendment. However, anti feminists viewed gender equality as a minor issue and compared women to uncivilized populations (Vernet Butera, 2005). After ratifying the 19th Amendment, the second wave peeked during 1960s to 1970 s social movement. Women wanted control of their bodies, freely chosen maternity, end domestic violence, and equality in a male society (Vernet Butera, 2005). • 19. The Concepts Of Separate Personality And Limited Liability... This essay will explain the concepts of separate personality and limited liability and their significance in company law. The principle of separate personality is defined in the Companies Act 2006(CA) ; subscribers to the memorandum, together with such other persons as may from time to time become members of the company are a body corporate by the name contained in memorandum. This essentially means that a company is a separate legal personality to its members and therefore can itself be sued and enter into contracts. This theory was birthed into company law through the case of Salomon v Salomon and Co LTD 1872. This case involved a company entering liquidation and the unsecured creditors not being able to claim assets to compensate them. The issue in this case was whether Mr Salomon owed the money or the company did. In the end, the House of Lords held that the company was not an agent of Mr Salomon and so the debts were that of the company thus creating the corporate Veil . It seems understandable that a business should exist as a separate legal personality as it would be impossible for an individual s motives and goals to be perfectly in line with that of the company as is demonstrated above in Salomon. Following this theory the idea that the rights and duties of a company are not that of its members and shareholders as demonstrated in the case of Lee v Lee Air Farming . [Rev. 6:8] Early American artist Benjamin West, details his conception of the scripture in his smaller study Death on the Pale Horse, in which the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse Death, War, Famine and Pestilence waste the earth. Considered in his earlier works as a Neoclassical painter, his later works began to shift in the new direction of Romanticism. This transition of art was meant to evoke an emotion within the viewer. Format, Proportion and Scale: Death on the Pale White Horse, created in the year 1817 is painted horizontally through the application of oil on canvas. The dimensions 176 inches x 301 inches. that correspond to the scale of the figures within the painting come across disproportional and are somewhat misleading to that of the overall height and width of the piece. However, undisturbed by the edges of the canvas, the centralized pyramid shape : formed by the figures in conjunction to those figures within the foreground and the background, is not only placed harmoniously but sporadically together to begin the process of guiding the viewers eyes across the canvas. Viewpoint: From what can be understood by the viewer, West has created the piece with a head on perspective. Through the use of many imaginative sharp diagonal lines, that can be drawn from either the more centralized figures whose hand rest atop his head and back is turned toward the viewer or the figure from the far left corner who learns at an angle and holds a spear across his body, towards the very last beast that is placed near the far upper right corner, West is able to create space and distance. The pyramidal construction of figures, foreshortening, and atmospheric perspective also work collectively to draw the viewer into the painting more closely. I Married An Angel Mise En Scene For this post, the first video I had chosen was Jeanette MacDonald and Binnie Barnes sang A Twinkle in Her Eye in a 1942 musical film called I Married an Angel. By watching the clip only, I thought the style of this recording was like an operetta. It had spoken parts to tell the light story. The sounds that came out of the characters were very soft, even though the singing technique was more like the one that was commonly used in operas, and the lyrics were pretty approachable. Also, I had noticed that the acting in this piece, including dancing, was somewhat exaggerated. I considered that those theatrical facial expressions and moves were expressed to aim to please the audiences. The second video I had watched was Jerry Orbach led the original cast of the 1980 Broadway musical 42nd Street to perform Lullaby of Broadway on the Tony Awards. Clearly, there were more dancing components involved in this show. The choreography was great because it could well coordinate with the lyrics and the emotion of the characters, which allowed audiences to deeply engage in the show. Also, the storyline was relatively clear, I could easily understand what was happening at that moment without knowing the context. But I was shocked by the ... This medium mass star follows on the same path as any other medium mass star: First star birth, then through the main sequence, into a red giant, contracted into a white dwarf, and finally cooled into a black dwarf. Vega started out its life just as any other star, as a nebula. The cloud of dust and gas condenses and temperatures rise, until it is hot enough for fusion of hydrogen into helium can take place. When Vega was able to fuse hydrogen into helium, it was classified as a main sequence star, which is the phase in it s life cycle that it is currently in. After Vega expands as far as it can, and runs out of helium to fuse, outward pressure will increase, once again, and the outer layers of Vega will be pushed away, causing a planetary nebula to be composed. Anglo Saxon is used to refer to a period of history in Britain, which was the years between the end of Roman occupation and the Norman Conquest. The term Anglo Saxon has been historically used to describe many members of the Germanic peoples. The Angles, Saxons, and Jutes were Germanic people that the Anglo Saxons descended from. The Anglo Saxon people spoke their own dialects that later became known as Old English. The documents on European Imperialism provide evidence for how the individuals in the Congo are being exploited for European benefit, under the profit making aim of King Leopold II. European brutality in the Congo was the logical result of the European desire to implement proper civilization in the Congo, albeit through a lack of cultural understanding and compassion towards the people of Congo. First, the document Selections from the 1885 Berlin Act (Treaty) was an outline to the European people that King Leopold II had good intentions for his mission in the Congo. However, it depicted the contradiction of what his true intentions were and what had actually occurred. King Leopold outlined six Declarations for what he desired to change for the Congo. Leopold stated, for instance, his desire to create a change in the freedom of trade for the people of the Congo, as well the creation of a Declaration relative to the slave trade, and the operations by sea or land which furnish slaves to that trade. These Declarations relate to the thesis of how the Europeans were directed in a way to think it was logical to create a change in the significant issues in the Congo. The Europeans were lead to believe these six Declarations would benefit the civilization of the Congo, by doing no harm. In actual fact. Leopold fails to point out how he intends to follow ... The start of that development occurred on vacation without my parents attending. Like any other child, I became very enthusiastic of the whole idea of freedom and self guidance. After the majority of the trip, I became uninterested with self guidance and I wanted to rely on the adults to plan fun filled activities. I was very disappointed with the fact that their lack of authority and action lead to an uneventful vacation. I began to miss my parents guidance because with every request or action they took it was in all the best interest of me. Whether it was to hold my hand across the road or watch the things I eat, all of it was intended for my growth and safety. It was then that I realized how much my parents really cared for me and it made me grow to respect their wishes even more. Concisely what began as a getaway from my parents resulted in a realization of how much I should appreciate and respect them. Furthermore, a persons decision to act on his or her attitude is affected by other factors, such as approval by family and friends. For this reason, multiattribute models have been constructed and are extremely popular among marketing research. In many cases knowledge of a person s attitude is not a very good predictor of behaviour. Many studies have obtained a very low correlation between a person s reported attitude towards something and his or her actual behaviour towards it. (Wicker 1969). For, instance Stacey 1981 found only a small correlation between attitudes and alcohol consumption. Furthermore, the model doesn t consider people s past behaviour, despite evidence that this is a good predictor of future behaviour. (Bagozzi 1991). Previous performance of a behaviour helps to explain the extent of the person s actual behavioural control in a particular situation. (Kashima et al 1992). Following on from this criticism the Fishbein model was extended to improve its predictive ability. This revised version is the theory of reasoned action (Azjen and Fishbein 1977) and assumes that behaviour is a function of the intention to perform that behaviour. Reconnaissance Summarize plausible active gathering, passive gathering, and active reconnaissance techniques that the adversary could have executed to gain intelligence on the target in the scenario. Reconnaissance is the act of collecting background research necessary to identify and select targets. (1) Cyber reconnaissance is an important stage of a well organized cyber attack, and is also one of the most time consuming activities. This phase can exploit the information gathered about the target s weaknesses. The type of information the hacker is looking for is how to actually get in: firewall ports that are open, network hosts, services that are running. Critical information that should be obtained during the reconnaissance phase include network information, host information, security policies, and human information. Active reconnaissance is a type of computer attack in which an intruder engages with the targeted system to gather information about vulnerabilities. (2) This type of information gathering involves doing something on the target network, which could potentially be tracked back to you. The idea of this phase is to gather IP addresses, subnet masks, network topologies, user names, operating systems, firewalls, password requirements and change frequency. Passive reconnaissance is focused more around public information and not engaging with the targeted systems. Typical passive reconnaissance can include ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He developed social action theory, the purpose of which was to find out why individuals function in certain ways. He thought that every social action performed by an individual had a meaning attached to it. Social actions are the result of conscious thought processes that take into consideration the reactions of other individuals. These properties could be exchanged for money in the economic market he was of the opinion that this position in the economic market place determined class position so that in theory there would be as many class positions as economic positions. It also draws attention to the importance of the individual and their conscious actions. It does not however place enough emphasis on class divisions, as it tends to concentrate more on status. Unlike selling shares, bonds are less risky to investors, allow business to buy back their bonds if they wanted to, and give the business the opportunity to deduct the interest from the business s taxes (The Legal Environment and Foundations for Business Law, 2012). The downside of issuing corporates bonds is the fact that they are loans and they could lead the business to bankruptcy if the business is highly leveraged. He wrote a textbook on music that was used until modern times. Boethius did many great things in his life, until he was charged with conspiring to deliver Rome from his rule, and was thrown into prison for the rest of his life. It is questioned whether his philosophy stands, due to the way he conspired it. Boethius was chained up in a dark dungeon, when a woman appeared in front of him. This was the start of the Consolation of Philosophy, and it is debatable whether he was crazy or simply just using her as a literary device for our reading. Marcus Aurelius lived around 140 A.D., which was considered Ancient Era He was known as one of the greatest rulers of all time. Meditations was wrote from the journal of Marcus Aurelius. His philosophy was very simple. He did not want to start a riot with his philosophy, but he practiced it within himself. Although steeped in the teachings of philosophy, he did not attempt to remodel the world on any preconceived plan (Meditations p 68). Both men, although living in two different eras, proposed a way to live life in a way that will bring true happiness into your life. Boethius strived for a relationship with God. The woman that appeared before him was there to tell him that there is no more time to be miserable, even with the conditions that he was under, and to carry on. But it is rather time, saith she, to apply remedies, than to make complaints . (Consolation 120). Boethius believed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Network Technology, Structure, And Protocols Introduction This paper is about basic network technology, structure, and protocols. This paper will cover the module question Discuss how the structure of the TCP IP framework has enabled the expansion of the Internet into a worldwide network. Discuss issues with this network. Is it big enough? Are enough IP addresses for all? What is being done under IPV6? This will be accomplished by addressing the crore topics as well as how IP started to grow, the issues with the network in regards to technological limitations as well as the different types of vulnerabilities and attacks. This paper will conclude with a summary. Structure of TCP IP and expansion In the beginning, the internet was without form. It was in the early phases with agencies such as DARPA and educational institutes that we laying the ground for what the internet turned into. However, as the internet grew, not everyone used the same communication method so there had to be gateways installed on the border of networks in order to translate one type of protocol into another (Bellovin, S. M.). This was not good so the advent of TCP IP was constructed. This allowed for uniformed communication and thus brought on the rapid expansion of the internet. The internet follows the open systems interconnect model (OSI) developed by Charles Bachman at Honeywell Information Services, this consists of seven layers. 1. • 47. Fun Home By Alison Bechdel In her graphic memoir Fun Home, Alison Bechdel records her unusual relationship with her late father Bruce Bechdel and reveals her family secrets. Through Chapter Three she speculates about the reason of her father s death after first knowing the catastrophe. By applying the allusion between writer Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald s famous character Jay Gatsby, and her father, Bechdel effectively presents the tragic nature of her father that he lives in the fictional world created by himself. In this allusion, Bechdel first describes her father s reverence for Fitzgerald, highlighting the deep influence of Fitzgerald on her father that he was fascinated by Fitzgerald s lifestyle and sentiment. She then shifts the parallel between her father and Fitzgerlad to her father and Fitzgerald s renowned character Gatsby. Later Bechdel realized that these three people all died at the same age, month, and week, and began wondering that her father s death is a suicide caused by his own personality. When Bechdel presents how her late father and Fitzgerald s character Gatsby are similar, she writes that: Gatsby s self willed metamorphosis from farm boy to prince is in many ways identical to my father (63). The first and foremost matching point of these two people, according to Bechdel, is their self willed metamorphosis, a major change in the character of one person that happened because of one s stubborn or willful adherence to his own desire (63). These two people do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Joyce Migraine Tobias Wolff Even together, people were as solitary as cows in a field chewing their own cud, writes Wolff (123). This is an idea that seems to be deeply ingrained in Joyce s consciousness, but does it represent how she truly feels deep down? Joyce seems to put on this facade of a strong self reliant woman when, in reality, she relies more on her roommate Dina than she would care to admit. Throughout Tobias Wolff s Migraine, Joyce insists on being independent; however, Dina s leaving seemly causes her headaches, which can only be eased by the love and comfort that accompanies Dina s touch. Joyce s perceived independence fuels her idea that solitude will help the pain in her head subside. She seems to be reluctant to accept help from others and almost self pitying to the point that reader s wonder how badly she truly wants her migraine to go away. The part of the story where Joyce s love is best seen occurs when she is told about a couple being injured while lying in bed together and Wolff states, And the same would be true if the waterbed had fallen on her and Dina instead of them, (124). This line of the story is particularly interesting because it hints at the fact that Joyce imagines her and Dina in bed together, side by side. Not to mention more subtle clues throughout the story such as when Joyce first enters and observes her and Dina s apartment: Suitcases [were] still packed for a visit to Dina s parents, which they d never made because Joyce got sick, (122). Could it have been her own nervousness that caused Joyce to feel this way? If so, why would she be so nervous to meet Dina s parents unless she is in love? For readers, it is clear that Joyce loves Dina. However, it is unclear whether or not Dina reciprocates these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some might even consider the lengths people were willing to go to for gold rather reckless and idiotic because of how menacing these obstacles were. The challenges that people during the Gold Rush faced, while somewhat incomprehensible to people now, was an extremely important goal to people in the 1800 s. In the articles Race to the Klondike and All About the Klondike Gold Mines , these challenges are thoroughly described and include examples of how people lived during the Gold Rush, one of the most terrifying journeys in history.
