Filipino And Colonial Mentality
US also selected promising Filipino leaders and sent them to prestigious American universities where
they learned American forms of ov government and culture, They would return to the philippines
securing positions within government and governed based off American model. It was as it seems,
what the Americans had intended to do. Knowingly or not, these Filipinos who were educated through
the American system may have supplemented the teachings of the Americans through the way they led
and communicated with the Filipinos back home, contributing to the notion that anything that was
western, or American, is far better than anything filipino, which in turn may have affected their
devaluing in the filipino culture. Colonial mentality can be described as an attitude that colonized
people feel themselves to be inferior to their colonizers based on the fact of colonization. There are
numerous other examples where Filipino/Filipino Americans can experience colonial mentality. We
can see this stemming from results of generational family socialization and the continued
americanization that continues to exist, further endorsing notion of american superiority over filipino
ethnicity and culture. An example of the generational family socialization can be seen throughout the
novel of American Son. Ika s two sons, Gabriel and Tomas are half filipino and half white as a result
of their father who served in the military and is no longer part of their life. Neither of these children

The Pyramid Model Of Curriculum Evaluation Model For...
Curriculum evaluation is necessary for nursing programs to ensure the effectiveness of the program.
According to Hendricks (2015), the curriculum set up by a program not only gives direction to the
content within the program but also guides the teaching and learning processes involved in the
program implementation (p. 140). Additionally, there are many ways to evaluate curriculum. One is to
look directly at how students meet the program outcomes, while another technique is to use an
established curriculum evaluation model already in use. This assignment will explore the classic
model used for evaluation called the pyramid model of evaluation for continuing education programs
in relation to the University of Washington s BSN curriculum.
Evaluation Model
According to Guin and Jax (2016), the pyramid model of evaluation for continuing education
programs is based upon Donabedian s structure (1966), process, and outcome model of evaluation as
described by Hawkins and Sherwood (1999) in conjunction with the social science evaluation model
developed by Rossi and Freeman (1993). The joint effort of these researchers resulted in a highly
proficient evaluation model, in addition to a comprehensive tool that has the functionality to address
the levels of the pyramid that include program design, implementation, outcomes and impact, and a
cost analysis. Because of the efficiency of the pyramid model, it has been highly recommended that
this model be used by nurse educators when

How Did Catherine II Changed Russia
Catherine II once said Power without a nation s confidence is nothing ( Catherine the Great Quote ).
Catherine II, or Catherine the Great, was one of Russia s greatest leaders. Although she was German
born, Catherine II looked forward to her chance at ruling Russia and changed the country for the
better. She tried to create policies that were in the best interest of the Russian people and would help
to westernize her country ( World ). Catherine the Great was responsible for expanding Russia and the
implementation of political, education, and social reforms that changed the country ( World ).
Catherine II fueled Russia with progressive and modern ideas that threw her country into the future.

One of the most influential of her political reforms came about in 1767, called the Instruction (
Catherine, II ). The Instruction was a major reform of the government system in Russia, not only that
but it was full of Enlightenment ideals ( World ). Catherine II borrowed ideas from many
Enlightenment philosophers such as Montesquieu, Beccaria, and Adam Smith ( Catherine, II ). She
worked on the Instruction for 2 years, but it was never put into effect as it called for a system of
government that was too far ahead of its time ( Catherine the Great ) ( World ). Notwithstanding the
years spent on the Instruction, Catherine II still managed to create reforms that brought Russia into a
more modern age. In the Statute of 1775 on Provincial Government, she sought to eradicate rampant
corruption in provincial governments. To do this, she created a system under which provinces were
controlled by agents from the central government in St. Petersburg. This idea then spawned an
additional law that was modern and democratic in spirit, it called for the help of villagers and
townspeople in governing themselves through elected office

Weather Forecast Research Paper
Throughout this assignment I have learned that there are many things that go into making a weather
forecast. I realized that it takes a lot of research to precisely forecast the high and low temperatures as
well as the weather and surface features for each day. There are a variety of models to choose from for
weather forecasting, but I have to figure out which one was best based on my atmospheric situation.
Due to the fact that I live in Missouri I found it difficult to use some of the methods due to the fact that
the weather is constantly changing. I originally thought I could use the Persistence Forecasting Model,
but then I realized that the weather changes to often for it to be the same each day. It would have been
a better option if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So I began to look up the long term average of weather conditions for each day in order to predict the
weather for the given day. Most of the time it was pretty precise but it could have been better.
Out of the six models I found the Numerical Model to be the best choices when creating a forecast
since it seemed to be the most accurate, due to the fact that it measures uses calculations and takes into
consideration the pressure, temperature, winds, humidity, clouds and precipitation. Out of all the
numerical models I chose to specifically use the North American Mesoscale model (NAM) because it
was specific for my atmospheric situation.
Despite using the models for forecasting, I learned you have to take into consideration the different
surface features including the different types of fronts and pressure systems.
Overall, I have learned that being a meteorologist is not the path for me. The different models of
forecasting are all very different and often hard to read. It takes a lot of time and patients to look
through all the different models and understand them. I am a type of person who likes immediate
answer and rather than having to go through multiple steps to figure out one

The earliest systems were implemented based on analog technology and the basic cellular structure of
mobile communication. Many fundamental problems were solved by these early systems. Numerous
incompatible analog systems were placed in service around the world during the 1980s.
The 2G (second generation) systems designed in the 1980s were still used mainly for voice
applications but were based on digital technology, including digital signal processing techniques.
These 2G systems provided circuit‐switched data communication services at a low speed. The
competitive rush to design and implement digital systems led again to a variety of different and
incompatible standards such as GSM (global system mobile), TDMA (time division multiple access);
PDC (personal digital cellular) and CDMA (code division multiple access). These systems operate
nationwide or internationally and are todayʹs mainstream systems, although the data rate for users in
these system is very limited.

Killing Joke Alan Moore Analysis
With this page of the Killing Joke Alan Moore and Brian Boland use panel composition to increase the
drama with each individual panel. Within the first three panels of the page the reader gets three
different camera shots. The second panel in which the reader gets a shot of the Joker reentering the
bar/restaurant, the shadow of his hat hiding his eyes making it difficult to read his emotions. The next
panel is completely different style, black and white, it makes it so the reader s focus is entirely on the
words being spoken, the lack of sympathy the men have on the Joker, similar to the lack of sympathy
the joker has on all of his victims. In the next four panels the focus is on the Joker and how he is being
treated poorly after the death of his pregnant wife. We see this mainly in the fifth panel where the shot
comes from behind the Joker allowing the reader only see the two men s threatening faces, then later
in the seventh panel where the Joker is alone and in a position that can be interpreted as him being

The reader gets to see the Joker s reaction to being threatened and his timidity in the fourth and fifth
panels and soon after we see the shock of it, the realization that he is unable to get out of the situation
he put himself in with the sixth panel. From the sixth to the seventh panel, though only a few seconds
have passed between the panels the reader gets a completely different shot from one panel to the next.
The Joker changing from a shocked expression to one of conflict and melancholy, depicted by the
ducked head and trembling hands. The mockery of it is added, as previously stated, with the taunting
way the two figures in the background look down at the Joker, one with the signature Joker smile and

The Theme Of The American Dream In Death Of A Salesman
The American Dream
Willy Loman s was a man like any other trying to obtain the American Dream, and did not care if his
actions hurt his family. He had two sons which he believed were the key to his success, one more than
the other. His wife who was a supporting, stay at home mom,who tried her best to keep the peace in
the house. Willy on the other hand only brought stress and negativity to the home by putting pressure
on his sons to be the best of the best and achieve what he could not achieve. As Willy s begins to be his
own worst enemy, secrets come out and the truth reveal itself which leads Willy to his death.
In the beginning of the play WIlly is introduced as a working father that travels in order to make
money. He has a rocky relationship with his wife and does not even bother to make it better. In the
beginning you notice that Willys wife (Linda) has a great deal of love for Willy. In the play Death of a
Salesman it is written that she more than loves him, she admires him, as though his mercurial nature,
his temper, his massive dreams and little cruelties . Which is sad due to Willy not responding with the
same love he once had for her. Throughout the play you can begin to notice Willy s changes and that
he needs to stop putting so much pressure on himself to try and achieve the American Dream. He
begins to show signs such as I suddenly couldn t drive any more. The car kept going off onto the

The Noble Knight In Thomas Malory s Morte Darthur
During Malory s Morte Darthur , the noble knights such as Lancelot, Gawain, Agravain, and Gareth
represent the ideals of knightliness. Malory seems to be implying that Sir Lancelot although King
Arthur s biggest betrayer was still the noblest of knights despite his adultery. Sir Lancelot during the
story is portrayed as the measure in which all knights worth is metered by. As just a knight Lancelot is
held as the man of which many worship, slightly more than even King Arthur, making Lancelot the
main idol of the text. Being a knight nobility, honor, and worship was an imperative skill in the role of
leadership, for a leader often were those who had proven themselves on and off the battlefield. For
others to look over Sire Lancelot and Queen Guinevere s secret affair insinuates that they respected Sir
Lancelot more than King Arthur. In Sir Thomas Malory s Morte Darthur the implication of the story is
that honor is obtained by holding up to the responsibilities one may have more so than relationships
they are involved in. Sir Agravain and Sir Mordred brought the Queen and Sir Lancelot s affair up
amongst the group of knights. To a reader, it shows a semi dislike to Sir Lancelot that they both would
make such noise over this. Sir Gawain reminds them both that they, must remember how often time
Sir Lancelot hath rescued the King and Queen (483). Gawain looks to Sir Lancelot as an honorable
knight disbelieving that his fellow knights would accuse him of such accusations.

Yosemite Valley Painting By Pablo Munoz
YOSEMITE VALLEY S MOST FAMOUS VIEW
Have you ever wonder why an artwork is so important for some people? There are many answers to
this question, but one is that an artwork is important because it portrays some kind of feelings.
Without art, our lives would simply become plain, boring and lifeless. Through art, artists can express
emotions, such as happiness, love, sadness or grief. Each form of art is different, but they somehow
connect to our souls and emotions. Therefore, if you want to feel an environment of tranquility,
harmony, and relaxation you should visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and see the beautiful
Yosemite Valley painting by Pablo Munoz. The artist concentrated his painting on distant mountains,
and rushing streams that invites viewers to admire the beauty of nature. Pablo Munoz used some
elements of art in his painting such as color, light, and line to show his viewers different emotions.
One element of art that Munoz used in his painting is color. He used color in his painting for many
reasons. For example, he used local colors, which are the colors we understand to be like the
greenness of the grass and trees, and the blueness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be used to suggest shape, pattern, form, structure, depth, distance, rhythm, movement and a
range of emotions. For example, in the Yosemite Valley the horizontal lines of the mountains represent
distance, but also impact a sense of peacefulness. Each line has a different personality and
communicates different emotions. For example, when the lines are thin, they can represent delicate,
timid or weak, and diagonal lines show action, falling or growing. Every time when artists used lines
for nature like mountains and trees, people probably feel happy because humans have a special love
for nature because we evolved in it. For example, a person enjoys being on a place fill with many trees
when she is stress because nature helps her to

The victim of all this invasion is the traditional Faith, the traditional moral standards, the cultural ways
of life and behavior which 400 years of Christianity have tried to make part of the Filipinos way of
life.
Against the attacks on Christian life, against the prevailing lack of commitment to anything beyond
material gain in contemporary culture, against the confusion and relativism of post modernism, the
unrestrained struggle for wealth and pleasure of the global culture preached by the media, we can
place before the eyes of the young a role model of commitment to Christ and to his Gospel. We can
invoke the intercession of a 17 year old native Filipino to pray for, inspire and lead young people to a
new understanding and love for Christ and his way, to a willingness to give witness to what the Gospel
teaches, to a readiness by a young person to give his life for Christ and his Church.
More: in an age when, as Pope John Paul II has said, youth in the Philippines must be willing to
bravely proclaim their Christian Faith, both at home and even in other lands, what more splendid thing
can be done than to give a concrete young person, catechist and missionary who is alive in the
Crucified and Risen Christ today, for our young people to know, to pray to, to imitate?

No Scientific Evidence Or Expert Witnesses
How or why some scientific evidence or expert witnesses are allowed to be presented in court and
some are not can be rather confusing. However, there is significant reasons on why the decision was
made. The three major sources that currently guide evidence and testimony admissibility: the Frye
Standard, the Rule of 702; and, the Daubert Standard, as well as who can serve as an expert witness in
a court of law.
Daubert refers to the legal precedent set by the United States Supreme Court in 1993 which defined
the criteria for admissibility of expert witness testimony in the Federal Courts. The Daubert ruling
(Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, 509 U.S. 579) superseded the long standing Frye standard
(set in 1923) for expert witness testimony (Cornell University, n.d.). The Frye v United States case
states that a court must determine whether or not the method by which that evidence was obtained was
generally accepted by experts in the particular field in which it belongs. In 1923, in Frye v. United
States, the District of Columbia Court rejected the scientific validity of the lie detector (polygraph)
because the technology did not have significant general acceptance at that time (Forensic Science
Simplified, n.d.). The court announced that a novel scientific technique must be sufficiently
established to have gained general acceptance in the particular field in which it belongs . The court
found that the systolic test had not yet gained such standing and scientific

John Ford s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
John Ford s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance black and white film tells the story of a killing of a
man that helped a town progress and become civilized. The film begins when a young quixotic man
fresh out of law school from the East, moves to a western town called Shinbone without knowing this
town is a wilderness ruled by guns and savages. The optimistic lawyer named Ransom eventually
brings law and order to the town after the local troublemaker is shot. He is then known as the man
who shot Liberty Valance and ends up becoming a senator in Washington. Time passes by and he and
his wife Hallie come back to the town of Shinbone for a local rancher s funeral named Tom Doniphon.

rancher who helps him get rid of the ruffian going unrecognized. Switching now to the differences
between the short story and the film, the first difference the reader is able to spot is how the short story
begins as opposed to how the film begins. In the short story, the rancher is named Bert Barricune
while in the film he is named Tom Doniphon. The film opening scene begins with a long shot of a
train arriving to the town of Shinbone, while the Marshal, Link Appleyard, waits at the train stop for
Hallie and Senator Ransom to step out of the train. On the other hand, the short story starts right at the
funeral scene, and it describes how not more than a dozen people showed up to Bert s funeral. Both
also differ in the way the lawyer, Ransom, arrives to the western town. In the film, Tom Doniphon
brings Ransom s passed out body into town in the back of a carriage, while in the short story Ransom
limped into the Marshal s office as Bert was being let out of a one cell jail. Another difference is the
duel scene, in the short story Ransom passed out and he wakes up to see Bert s face, who

Sorrow And Grief In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet, one of many Shakespeare tragedy plays, reveals that Shakespeare thinks love brings
sorrow and grief. The play tells a story about two star crossed lovers named Romeo and Juliet, who
live in two different households that hate each other. Many problems arise with Romeo and Juliet
loving each other, but being enemies in nature. The story is told by many characters, including Romeo
and Juliet. Through this, Shakespeare uses dramatic irony, repetition of epithets, and pathos to show
how love brings sorrow and grief. Dramatic irony is seen throughout the whole play many times, but
one time stands out when the main character Romeo slays Tybalt, kinsmen to the Capulets (Juliet s
Family), out of sheer anger. Consequently, Romeo was banished. Said in the play by Paris, he stated,
Immoderately she weeps for Tybalt s death, And therefore have I little talk of love (Rom.IV.i.6/7).
Paris thinks that Juliet weeps for Tybalt being slain, but instead is weeping for Romeo who was
banished from Verona. Following the banishment incident, Juliet remained in a coma like death that
she put herself into not marry Paris, but everyone thought of Juliet being dead, even Romeo. By her
tomb, Romeo spoke, Beauty s ensign yet is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks (Rom.V.iii.94/95).
The coma was to end and she was to wake any minute that Romeo went to Juliet, nevertheless Romeo
didn t know of the potion that put her in the coma. Full of grief, Romeo proceeded to kill himself even
though he noticed that Juliet looked well alive. Previously, when Romeo was banished and Juliet in
the coma, many examples of repetition of epithets happened during those scenes. Romeo and Juliet
has many characters expressing their sorrow with the repeated use of adjectives to describe their or
another s state. When Tybalt was killed, many wept for their kinsmen including the nurse of the
Capulet s. The nurse exclaims, We are undone, lady, we are undone. Alack the day, he s gone, he s
killed, he s dead (Rom.III.ii.43/44). The nurse repeatedly states about Tybalt being killed and is dead.
She is so stricken by grief that she doesn t say who was killed and Juliet gets confused about who got
killed, Tybalt, Romeo, or both. Soon after,

Afro-Eurasia Dbq Analysis
How does a single faith survive for almost 1500 years? This is a complex question that could be
answered differently for every religion that has managed to survive that long. However, for Islam, it is
a matter of studying the history of its growth. From its beginnings, Islam was unique and continued to
remain so. It was highly influential to life in Afro Eurasia and continues to remain intact today. The
establishment of Islam in the seventh century heavily influenced the next millennium in Afro Eurasia
through the conversion of mass populations, the growth and standardization of trade, and new
scholarly developments. By studying the phases of Islam and the changes it brought to the age of third

would have never become what it was without the incorporation of whole populations into the faith,
the unified network of trade it provided, and the scholarly developments it pioneered and renewed.
Without the deliberate conquests of different nations, Islam would not have grown so rapidly. If Islam
had not grown so large, so quickly, the entirety of Afro Eurasian trade would not have been so
standard and unified. Likewise, if there was no such established network of trade, the ideas and
innovations of Muslim education would not have become so widespread. Therefore, it is evident that
each of these effects of the Islamic faith and its empire needed the others. Without all of them, Islam

Increasing Number of Female Athletes
Sport participation is a significant aspect of life for many female athletes beginning at a young age.
With increasing female sport participation, specifically in swimming, understanding the possible
implications of their chosen form of training is critical. Over years of training, an athlete generally
becomes more elite and focused in one specific sport however the timing of when they choose to do so
determines their chosen training pattern. The two most common forms of training are high intensity
single sport participation and that of multiple sports with less time dedicated in one particular activity.
With the current research showing female swimmers to start training at the age of 10 (Malina, 2010),
well before typical maturity, evaluating the long term impacts is necessary. While data sport
participation prior to menarche is not convincingly seen to impact growth and maturation (Malina,
2010), the impacts it may have on injuries is yet to be seen. Injury patterns have also been previously
studied with female collegiate swimmers and the most common areas of injury are in the
shoulder/upper arm and the back/neck (Wolf, 2009). However, in this study, intensity of training either
currently or in the past was not also examined.
Combining all of these facets: sport specialization, age at menarche, and their possible relationship to
injuries has yet to be done. In this paper, first the current research in these areas individually be

Miss Dior Advertising In Advertising
For many people in the world to see an advertisement and move past it because they find them rather
annoying has become the normalcy of today s society. However, if people actually paid attention to
those advertisements the readers would find that they think some of the ads should not have been
allowed. An ad for Miss Dior perfume was presented in a late issue of Vogue with a model who looks
to be about twenty four years old. The model has shoulder length blonde hair, a clear skin tone, and a
facial expression that could be considered provocative. The model is naked and only covered by a
dress that she holds up which still only covers a portion of her top, middle section, and private area.
Despite this dress, her complete right leg, thigh, arm, neck, and shoulders are revealed. In the
foreground is a Miss Dior perfume bottle with the words Miss Dior and you, what would you do for
love? . In Jean Kilbourne s Killing Us Softly 4, she states that advertisements often send certain
messages about women. Kilbourne claims that unrealistic ideas of women are often proposed within
ads, such as symbolizing women as objects and not people, or even the idea that if you are not
beautiful, then you are nothing. In the Dior advertisement, a few of its aspects uphold statements made
by Jean Kilbourne such as sexualizing models to sell a product, emphasizing the idea of looking
young and attractive, and placing models in vulnerable positions.
The main thought of the Miss Dior ad that is

1984 George Orwell Privacy Analysis
In the book 1984, by George Orwell surveillance has many similarities in our society today. Now a
day the government can spy on anyone they want which means nobody has privacy on their phones.
Surveillance is something most people do not believe because most people believe that when they are
on technology they have all their privacy. Technology takes us closer to the world of big brother
because through technology Big brother watches them through surveillance cameras.
Big Brother and his government have power all over his citizens. There is no privacy in Oceania
because big brother watches them through a telescreen. A telescreen is placed in every single room in
Oceania for Big Brother to observe them through a surveillance camera. Every move someone makes

In the United States surveillance cameras are not the same as it is in Oceania. In Oceania everyone on

Best Practices For Managing Parent Concerns Essay
In recent years, it is now customary for professionals who work in higher education to have interesting
stories about their interactions with parents. In Lynette S. Merriman s book, Best Practices for
Managing Parent Concerns: A Mixed Methods Study of Student Affairs Practice at Doctoral Research
Institutions, she uses the 2006 national survey of student affairs professionals to discover that 93% of
respondents recorded that their interactions with parents had increased in the most recent five years of
research (105; ch. 7). Not only have higher education professionals seen increased parental
interactions with administrators, but also with students. In 2007, the organization College Parents of
America surveyed parents and found that 34% of respondents reported that they communicated with
their children either daily, or more than once a day ( National Parent Survey ). Increased parental
involvement is driving colleges and universities to examine the advantages and disadvantages of
having parents as a more significant influence on collegiate processes. The frequency and medium of
communication between parents, students, and administrators is a specific interest. Much of the
increased involvement originates from the prevalence of technology such as cell phones and e mail,
parents are able to talk to their students daily, receiving immediate updates happenings with classes,
extra curricular activities, friends, and roommates. In College Parents of America s survey, 90% of

The Characterization of Medea in Euripides and Ovid
The Medea by Euripides, Heroides XII: Medea to Jason by Ovid
Both Fifth century B.C. playwright Euripides and Roman poet and dramatist Ovid tell the story of
Jason ditching Medea for another woman; however, they do not always share a perspective on the
female matron s traits, behavior, and purpose. Euripides portrays a woman who reacts to injustice by
beginning a crusade to avenge all who harmed her which she is prepared to see through even if it
means resorting to the most contemptible methods. Ovid, on the other hand, tells of a much less
extreme figure whose humble goal is only to persuade Jason to return. Despite these differences, both
Medeas create trouble by acting with emotions instead of with reason, and as a result, put ... Show

More importantly, she seems to be able to identify the flaws that lead her astray. The first mistake
Medea traces her current predicament back to is her vulnerability to be manipulated when thinking
with her emotions instead of her better sense. On first falling in love with Jason, she recalls I was
ensnared, girl that I was, by your/words (86), words tapping into her emotions. This of course inspired
the all the more magnanimous goof of replacing her family with her husband who as the queen
describes alone...took the place of/ all! (164 165). For the Queen of Colchis, bad decisions have been
her major shortcoming, a fact that she both realizes and takes responsibility for. Thus acknowledgment
is the first step towards her redemption. Evidence for this can be seen through her pathological appeals
to Jason which illustrate how the Queen has used her emotional mind set as a strength instead of a
weakness. Medea betrayed [her] sire (109), lost [her] throne (163), and killed her own brother for
Jason. She reminds him that, in addition to all the sacrifices she made for him, her devotion has not
faltered when she says, At your bidding I have withdraw from/ your palace...and / what follows me
evermore my love for you (140 143). After winning Jason s sympathy, the humble woman concludes

Analysis Of The Documentary Cronulla Riots
Australia claims to be an egalitarian land of equal opportunity; however, the documentary Cronulla
Riots suggests that it is not applicable to all of its citizens. Especially for those Muslim Australians
who lived 26km away from South of Sydney CBD during 11th Dec. 2005 15th Dec. 2005. They were
ill disposed to their fellow White Australians living down the street from them. For them, tensions
grew day by day. People affected by Cronulla Riots in any manner were out of the frying pan, and
were into the fire , when the documentary displayed Prime Minister John Howard declaring the riots
as un Australian . He made us believe that his view was optimistic and disagrees that there is
underlying racism in Australia. Now, an iconic, non judgmental documentary Cronulla Riots voices
the untold story. We are invited to believe their voices as they believe the riots as un Australian , just
like John Howard. Having first aired on SBS, 2014, director, Jaya Balendra, focuses her documentary
on the traumatic experience that local Australians faced in Cronulla, New South Wales. When we view
the award winning documentary Cronulla Riots, we are questioned about the values and ethics of
being Australian. Everyone either young or old, male or female, Middle Eastern or White, living on
Australian soil are questioned about the embodiment of Australian values. Therefore, the documentary
successfully achieved its purpose on questioning the viewers of being Australian. This can be best

Benefits Of Instruction Accessible For College Or Expert...
Instruction assumes a key part in deciding how you spend your grown up life a more elevated amount

Value in training upgrades social union and trust. This Policy Brief takes a gander at how to enhance
value in training in three key approach spaces: the configuration of instruction frameworks, hones
both all through school, and resourcing. It proposes ten stages which would help diminish school
disappointment and dropout rates, make society more pleasant and help stay away from the huge
social expenses of minimized grown ups with couple of essential aptitude.
Value in instruction has two measurements. The principal is reasonableness, which essentially means
verifying that individual and social circumstances for instance sexual orientation, financial status or
ethnic beginning ought not be an obstruction to accomplishing instructive potential. The second is
incorporation, as such guaranteeing an essential least standard of instruction for all for instance that
everybody ought to have the capacity to peruse, compose and do basic math. The two measurements
are nearly entwined: handling school disappointment serves to defeat the impacts of social hardship
which regularly causes school disappointment. Both equity and fairness are issues for OECD
countries. Kids from poorer homes in most OECD nations are somewhere around three and four times
more prone to be among the poorest scorers in science at age 15 (see Figure 1). What s more,

Education And Academic Achievement Gap
Anna, a young first grader, squeals with delight as the whistle blows to announce the end of recess.
What may seem as a sad end to the best part of the day for most students fills Anna with complete joy.
Why? Anna is on the way to her favorite class music. Anna enjoys it because she likes to sing, but
what she does not know is that the class that she enjoys the most is also extremely beneficial to her
academic and social life. Sadly, for many students, art classes are not commonly offered due to cost or
the perception that art education is unimportant. Although seen as less important than core subjects, art
education should be a part of basic curriculum because of its academic and social benefits for students.
Many people believe that schools should focus on excelling on standardized testing, such as state tests
and college entrance exams, and lowering the academic achievement gap. After all, these
examinations are major factors in students future decisions and schools academic success greatly
affects their overall achievement. Focusing on standardized testing is important; however, basic
courses such as English, mathematics, and science are not the only subjects that are beneficial when
preparing for these tests. In a study prepared by the President s Committee on the Arts and Humanities
(PCAH), arts integration focused schools were followed over a three year timespan and it was found
that they had reduced the reading gap by fourteen percent and the mathematics gap

The Idea Of Narcissistic Love
Another example that frames a negative love through a more narcissistic form of intemperance
combined with a necessity (a counterpart to freedom). The contrast of a narcissistic love (an evil love
that necessitates tyrannical measures) to a sacrificial love that promotes freedom reinforces the ways
in which love is framed as good or evil. The description between the attributes of the gates to the
gardens shows these opposing differences. The Book 2, Canto 12, Stanza 43 opens with goodly it was
enclosed round about, which immediately gives the sense that this enclosure is not inclusive. The
following lines, as well their entered guests to keep within / as those unruly beasts to hold without are

However, the mirror stanza in Adonis garden allows freedom by which both in and out men moten
pas, portraying a good love as giving, taking/receiving and letting go (III.2.31). This is in opposition
to Acrasia s exclusive love, whereas a good love demonstrates inclusivity. Looking at this from an
overarching view, Acrasia s love necessitates a rationale to subjugate its guests as opposed to Adonis
garden that represents freedom two extremes that constantly exert push and pull forces on one another.
In each mirrored stanza their power relations further demonstrates the way frame in which Spenser
defines a negative positive love. Accordingly, in Acrasia s garden the line, wisdoms power and
temperance s might displays a fear of temperance and wisdom as well as an inability to defend against
a justified good love and eke the gate was wrought of substance light / rather for pleasure, then for
battery or fight; Spenser frames a bad love as a thin, weak fence that fears a good love s dominant
power. In contrast, good love conjures a picture equivalent to the gates of heaven the one of iron, the
other of bright gold, and further reinforced by its impenetrability, that none might thorough break, nor

I Have A Life Guided By Morality, Driven By Passion, And...
I am Jake Savino, but I have not always known that. I have not truly discovered my identity, who I am
as a person, or what I was put on this planet to do, until recent years. I live a life guided by morality,
driven by passion, and inspired by my loved ones.
My passion is to work in bioethics for a specialty hospital. I gained an emotional connection to the
healthcare field at a very young age, but did not quite know how to make this into my future. It is still
very much a learning process for me; one that I reflect on every minute of every day. I have become
drawn to the dichotomies of the world, specifically in healthcare. I tend to think about things in a very
analytical, philosophical, and empathetic manner. I often question how people ... Show more content

It was a shame to me that my mom s action of stepping forward to tell hospital staff about this
procedure was the deciding factor of my dad s survival. There had to be something more that the
nurses and physicians could have done. I was, and still am, in disbelief. I saw first hand what could
happen if one does not know what options of care are available. Those are the types of atrocities that
are happening today. Very few people are looking out for the common man and people die every day,
needlessly, as a result.
Another person, also very near and dear to my heart, has helped develop my values into my sought
future. I have been a mentor for a physically and mentally challenged individual named David through
an organization called Countryside Association for People with Disabilities. People like David are
turned down from healthcare all the time because our health system renders them as functioning adults
when, in fact, they are not capable of living on their own at all. If such wonderful parents had not
adopted David, the state would not provide care for him past age twenty four, other than providing
income for disability. David cannot manage himself. The fact that there are people in the world
struggling with similar issues, and nobody to advocate for them worries me.
I believe that everyone deserves the right to the best care available without the basis of income,
employment, or social standing. I believe cutting edge approaches need to be offered to

Essay on The Sonnet Genre Combining with Figurative Language
The Sonnet Genre Combining with Figurative Language
Compare how the conventions of the sonnet genre combine with figurative language to create
meaning in at least two texts.
Originating in Italy, the sonnet was established by Petrarch in the 14th century as a major form of love
poetry, and came to be adopted in
England in the 16th century (Oxford Literary terms). Overtime there have been different types of
sonnets written, for example the Italian
(Petrarchan) sonnet, the English (Shakespearean) sonnet and the
Spenserian sonnet. Each of these sonnets have there own conventions and use different types of poetic
language to help create meaning for the reader. For the purpose of this essay we will look at how the
conventions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A typical rhyme scheme of a Shakespearean sonnet would be that of
ABABCDCDEFEFGG. Spenserian sonnets combine both the Shakespearean and
Italian forms. Just like the Shakespearean form it uses 3 quatrains followed by a couplet. However the
rhyme scheme is like the Italian, linking all stanzas together ABABBCBCCDCDEE. An essential
element of all three types of sonnets is that of the volta which is used to signify a change in subject
matter, for example in the Italian form the volta normally occurs at the ninth line. The two sonnets I
will be examining within this essay predominantly use the conventions of a
Shakespearean sonnet.
When exploring the conventions of Sonnet 18 we can see it has the typical conventions of a
Shakespearean sonnet using three quatrains and a rhyming couplet. The first quatrain establishes the
theme of comparing the speaker s beloved with a summer s day, and why it is difficult to do so. The
whole of sonnet 18 is used as an extended metaphor, and this is seen from the very beginning:
Shall I compare thee to a summers day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate (1 2)
The sonnet begins with a metaphoric question, asking if the speaker should compare this person with
summer. The speaker then answers by saying she is more lovely and more temperate this combines
with the meaning created by the first quatrain immediately giving the reader an idea that the speaker
feels his beloved

Biomedical Research Synthesis Essay
The source Limits on Risks for Healthy Volunteers in Biomedical Research states that the Yellow

argument because it shows that there are necessary risks in order to make good progress. Even though
the some of the volunteers died from Yellow Fever, it allowed scientists to find the vector (mosquitos).
This test is used by both sides to support their argument. Pro restriction people use it as a showing of
the inherent risk of biomedical testing, while anti restriction people use it as a showing of the results
outweighing the costs. A mix of both sides should be put in place. As stated in the last post, a

Salmonella Outbreak Essay
For the module 1 SLP, we re going to take a brief look at Salmonella and some of the factors that play
a role in a foodborne outbreak. We ll look at etiologic agent, host factors, and environmental factors as
well as host factors and how they can play a role in the occurrence. First and foremost, we need to see
what salmonella is and then we can break it down when we look at the other factors.
Salmonella is a bacterial disease that occurs in the intestines, the signs and symptoms can be; fever, or
other illnesses such as diarrhea and abdominal cramps. People typically get salmonella from
contaminated foods, which seems to occur frequently from poultry and eggs (Nordqvist, 2016). This is
just a basic look at salmonella though, next we need to look at the epidemiologic triad (host, agent,
and environment) and see how each plays a role in a salmonella outbreak.
First the etiologic agent of salmonella; Salmonella gastroenteritis is the infectious agent that causes
salmonella. It is transmitted through vehicle transmission, meaning it travels from place to place on
something (contaminated meat for example). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

increase their chance of getting salmonella. These factors include; international travel, specifically to
countries with poor sanitation, owning a bird or reptile that is infected with the bacteria and handling
that animal routinely increases your change for exposure. Additionally use of antacids and antibiotics
can create a perfect environment for the bacteria to grow in your intestines (Mayo Clinic,

Robert Frost s The Tuft Of Flowers And After Apple Picking
Intense and meaningful discoveries are often not anticipated, instead being sudden and unexpected.
The potential catalysts for discoveries are often unforeseen, resulting in unpredictable, confronting,
and challenging discoveries and ramifications. These outlooks are exemplified in Robert Frosts s
poetry works, The Tuft of Flowers , and After Apple Picking , and are also demonstrated in the
Challenger Disaster Speech delivered by Ronald Reagan to the USA in 1986. We see in both these
texts the potential complex ramifications brought forward by unexpected discovery upon an
individual. Robert Frost s works explore the unexpected nature of discovery and its catalysts, the
complex outcomes they bring forth, and the profound impact of discoveries upon a person. As seen in
the dramatic monologue The Tuft of Flowers , the persona is shown to be a farm worker, who goes to
a field after the mower to turn the grass. Together, the shared jobs come together to work as a larger
agricultural process, but the workers do their jobs individually. In the beginning of the poem, the
persona muses on the absence of the other worker, first Looking for him behind an isle of trees; then
Listening for his whetstone on the breeze . The persona seeks the company of the worker, but then
comes to the conclusion; And I must be, as he had been, alone . The hyphen within this line is used as
a caesura to highlight the loneliness of the worker. Due to this observation, the narrator states in a
resigned tone All as must be, I said within my heart, Whether they work together or apart . The use of
interior monologue, by the persona speaking within his heart highlights his isolation and brings forth
the first discovery of the poem, the worker is doing his job alone. The worker s search for company is
then mirrored in the appearance of a bewildered butterfly , seeking the flowers of yesterday. The
seemingly insignificant occurrence of a butterfly flying past the worker becomes important as it acts
as a catalyst for the key meaningful discovery of the poem. The butterfly searching for a flower to
land upon draws the attention of the persona to a tuft of flowers, purposefully untouched by the scythe
of the mower, in an act of

Douglas Noel Adams was born in Cambridge, England on March 11, 1952 to Janet and Christopher

The Electoral College Vs. Electoral College
Popular vote Vs. Electoral College
My initial feelings about the electoral college vs popular vote is that we need to switch over the the
popular vote. There are many benefits, I believe, that could help make everyone s votes matter. With
the popular vote it will not matter if you live in a state that vote one side consistently, your vote will
matter. I believe that switching the Electoral college to a popular vote would be beneficial to the
United States and our citizens. According to the National Forensic League, a popular vote would give
equal representation to all states and regions. As the voting is now states that vote one way
consistently would be overlooked by candidates and taken for granted. Although the Electoral college
states that they give equal balance to each state there is more attention on the swing states. Having a
popular vote would change the favoritism to the swing states, and create equality throughout the
United states. A popular vote would also make sure that each voter s vote would matter to the election.
The way the system sits now, if you are a democratic living in a commonly known Republican State,
your vote would be over looked and would matter. Citizens knowing this then give up on voting
knowing that it wouldn t matter in an electoral vote. With the switch to popular vote, the citizens
would have the final say in the Presidential election ensuring a nation by and for the people. The
reason why the Electoral vote was created was because

  • 2. Filipino And Colonial Mentality US also selected promising Filipino leaders and sent them to prestigious American universities where they learned American forms of ov government and culture, They would return to the philippines securing positions within government and governed based off American model. It was as it seems, what the Americans had intended to do. Knowingly or not, these Filipinos who were educated through the American system may have supplemented the teachings of the Americans through the way they led and communicated with the Filipinos back home, contributing to the notion that anything that was western, or American, is far better than anything filipino, which in turn may have affected their devaluing in the filipino culture. Colonial mentality can be described as an attitude that colonized people feel themselves to be inferior to their colonizers based on the fact of colonization. There are numerous other examples where Filipino/Filipino Americans can experience colonial mentality. We can see this stemming from results of generational family socialization and the continued americanization that continues to exist, further endorsing notion of american superiority over filipino ethnicity and culture. An example of the generational family socialization can be seen throughout the novel of American Son. Ika s two sons, Gabriel and Tomas are half filipino and half white as a result of their father who served in the military and is no longer part of their life. Neither of these children ... • 3. The Pyramid Model Of Curriculum Evaluation Model For... Curriculum evaluation is necessary for nursing programs to ensure the effectiveness of the program. According to Hendricks (2015), the curriculum set up by a program not only gives direction to the content within the program but also guides the teaching and learning processes involved in the program implementation (p. 140). Additionally, there are many ways to evaluate curriculum. One is to look directly at how students meet the program outcomes, while another technique is to use an established curriculum evaluation model already in use. This assignment will explore the classic model used for evaluation called the pyramid model of evaluation for continuing education programs in relation to the University of Washington s BSN curriculum. Evaluation Model According to Guin and Jax (2016), the pyramid model of evaluation for continuing education programs is based upon Donabedian s structure (1966), process, and outcome model of evaluation as described by Hawkins and Sherwood (1999) in conjunction with the social science evaluation model developed by Rossi and Freeman (1993). The joint effort of these researchers resulted in a highly proficient evaluation model, in addition to a comprehensive tool that has the functionality to address the levels of the pyramid that include program design, implementation, outcomes and impact, and a cost analysis. Because of the efficiency of the pyramid model, it has been highly recommended that this model be used by nurse educators when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most influential of her political reforms came about in 1767, called the Instruction ( Catherine, II ). The Instruction was a major reform of the government system in Russia, not only that but it was full of Enlightenment ideals ( World ). Catherine II borrowed ideas from many Enlightenment philosophers such as Montesquieu, Beccaria, and Adam Smith ( Catherine, II ). She worked on the Instruction for 2 years, but it was never put into effect as it called for a system of government that was too far ahead of its time ( Catherine the Great ) ( World ). Notwithstanding the years spent on the Instruction, Catherine II still managed to create reforms that brought Russia into a more modern age. In the Statute of 1775 on Provincial Government, she sought to eradicate rampant corruption in provincial governments. To do this, she created a system under which provinces were controlled by agents from the central government in St. Petersburg. This idea then spawned an additional law that was modern and democratic in spirit, it called for the help of villagers and townspeople in governing themselves through elected office ... • 6. Weather Forecast Research Paper Throughout this assignment I have learned that there are many things that go into making a weather forecast. I realized that it takes a lot of research to precisely forecast the high and low temperatures as well as the weather and surface features for each day. There are a variety of models to choose from for weather forecasting, but I have to figure out which one was best based on my atmospheric situation. Due to the fact that I live in Missouri I found it difficult to use some of the methods due to the fact that the weather is constantly changing. I originally thought I could use the Persistence Forecasting Model, but then I realized that the weather changes to often for it to be the same each day. It would have been a better option if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So I began to look up the long term average of weather conditions for each day in order to predict the weather for the given day. Most of the time it was pretty precise but it could have been better. Out of the six models I found the Numerical Model to be the best choices when creating a forecast since it seemed to be the most accurate, due to the fact that it measures uses calculations and takes into consideration the pressure, temperature, winds, humidity, clouds and precipitation. Out of all the numerical models I chose to specifically use the North American Mesoscale model (NAM) because it was specific for my atmospheric situation. Despite using the models for forecasting, I learned you have to take into consideration the different surface features including the different types of fronts and pressure systems. Overall, I have learned that being a meteorologist is not the path for me. The different models of forecasting are all very different and often hard to read. It takes a lot of time and patients to look through all the different models and understand them. Many fundamental problems were solved by these early systems. Numerous incompatible analog systems were placed in service around the world during the 1980s. The 2G (second generation) systems designed in the 1980s were still used mainly for voice applications but were based on digital technology, including digital signal processing techniques. These 2G systems provided circuit‐switched data communication services at a low speed. Within the first three panels of the page the reader gets three different camera shots. The second panel in which the reader gets a shot of the Joker reentering the bar/restaurant, the shadow of his hat hiding his eyes making it difficult to read his emotions. The next panel is completely different style, black and white, it makes it so the reader s focus is entirely on the words being spoken, the lack of sympathy the men have on the Joker, similar to the lack of sympathy the joker has on all of his victims. In the next four panels the focus is on the Joker and how he is being treated poorly after the death of his pregnant wife. We see this mainly in the fifth panel where the shot comes from behind the Joker allowing the reader only see the two men s threatening faces, then later in the seventh panel where the Joker is alone and in a position that can be interpreted as him being upset/ in agony with two sinister looking people staring down at him in the ... • 11. The Noble Knight In Thomas Malory s Morte Darthur During Malory s Morte Darthur , the noble knights such as Lancelot, Gawain, Agravain, and Gareth represent the ideals of knightliness. Malory seems to be implying that Sir Lancelot although King Arthur s biggest betrayer was still the noblest of knights despite his adultery. Sir Lancelot during the story is portrayed as the measure in which all knights worth is metered by. As just a knight Lancelot is held as the man of which many worship, slightly more than even King Arthur, making Lancelot the main idol of the text. Being a knight nobility, honor, and worship was an imperative skill in the role of leadership, for a leader often were those who had proven themselves on and off the battlefield. For others to look over Sire Lancelot and Queen Guinevere s secret affair insinuates that they respected Sir Lancelot more than King Arthur. In Sir Thomas Malory s Morte Darthur the implication of the story is that honor is obtained by holding up to the responsibilities one may have more so than relationships they are involved in. Sir Agravain and Sir Mordred brought the Queen and Sir Lancelot s affair up amongst the group of knights. To a reader, it shows a semi dislike to Sir Lancelot that they both would make such noise over this. Sir Gawain reminds them both that they, must remember how often time Sir Lancelot hath rescued the King and Queen (483). Gawain looks to Sir Lancelot as an honorable knight disbelieving that his fellow knights would accuse him of such accusations. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many answers to this question, but one is that an artwork is important because it portrays some kind of feelings. Without art, our lives would simply become plain, boring and lifeless. Through art, artists can express emotions, such as happiness, love, sadness or grief. Each form of art is different, but they somehow connect to our souls and emotions. Therefore, if you want to feel an environment of tranquility, harmony, and relaxation you should visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and see the beautiful Yosemite Valley painting by Pablo Munoz. The artist concentrated his painting on distant mountains, and rushing streams that invites viewers to admire the beauty of nature. Pablo Munoz used some elements of art in his painting such as color, light, and line to show his viewers different emotions. One element of art that Munoz used in his painting is color. The three major sources that currently guide evidence and testimony admissibility: the Frye Standard, the Rule of 702; and, the Daubert Standard, as well as who can serve as an expert witness in a court of law. Daubert refers to the legal precedent set by the United States Supreme Court in 1993 which defined the criteria for admissibility of expert witness testimony in the Federal Courts. The Daubert ruling (Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, 509 U.S. 579) superseded the long standing Frye standard (set in 1923) for expert witness testimony (Cornell University, n.d.). The Frye v United States case states that a court must determine whether or not the method by which that evidence was obtained was generally accepted by experts in the particular field in which it belongs. In 1923, in Frye v. • 17. Sorrow And Grief In Romeo And Juliet Romeo and Juliet, one of many Shakespeare tragedy plays, reveals that Shakespeare thinks love brings sorrow and grief. The play tells a story about two star crossed lovers named Romeo and Juliet, who live in two different households that hate each other. Many problems arise with Romeo and Juliet loving each other, but being enemies in nature. The story is told by many characters, including Romeo and Juliet. Through this, Shakespeare uses dramatic irony, repetition of epithets, and pathos to show how love brings sorrow and grief. Dramatic irony is seen throughout the whole play many times, but one time stands out when the main character Romeo slays Tybalt, kinsmen to the Capulets (Juliet s Family), out of sheer anger. Consequently, Romeo was banished. Said in the play by Paris, he stated, Immoderately she weeps for Tybalt s death, And therefore have I little talk of love (Rom.IV.i.6/7). Paris thinks that Juliet weeps for Tybalt being slain, but instead is weeping for Romeo who was banished from Verona. Following the banishment incident, Juliet remained in a coma like death that she put herself into not marry Paris, but everyone thought of Juliet being dead, even Romeo. By her tomb, Romeo spoke, Beauty s ensign yet is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks (Rom.V.iii.94/95). The coma was to end and she was to wake any minute that Romeo went to Juliet, nevertheless Romeo didn t know of the potion that put her in the coma. Full of grief, Romeo proceeded to kill himself even though he noticed that Juliet looked well alive. Previously, when Romeo was banished and Juliet in the coma, many examples of repetition of epithets happened during those scenes. Romeo and Juliet has many characters expressing their sorrow with the repeated use of adjectives to describe their or another s state. When Tybalt was killed, many wept for their kinsmen including the nurse of the Capulet s. The nurse exclaims, We are undone, lady, we are undone. Alack the day, he s gone, he s killed, he s dead (Rom.III.ii.43/44). The nurse repeatedly states about Tybalt being killed and is dead. With increasing female sport participation, specifically in swimming, understanding the possible implications of their chosen form of training is critical. Over years of training, an athlete generally becomes more elite and focused in one specific sport however the timing of when they choose to do so determines their chosen training pattern. The two most common forms of training are high intensity single sport participation and that of multiple sports with less time dedicated in one particular activity. With the current research showing female swimmers to start training at the age of 10 (Malina, 2010), well before typical maturity, evaluating the long term impacts is necessary. While data sport participation prior to menarche is not convincingly seen to impact growth and maturation (Malina, 2010), the impacts it may have on injuries is yet to be seen. Injury patterns have also been previously studied with female collegiate swimmers and the most common areas of injury are in the shoulder/upper arm and the back/neck (Wolf, 2009). However, in this study, intensity of training either currently or in the past was not also examined. An ad for Miss Dior perfume was presented in a late issue of Vogue with a model who looks to be about twenty four years old. The model has shoulder length blonde hair, a clear skin tone, and a facial expression that could be considered provocative. The model is naked and only covered by a dress that she holds up which still only covers a portion of her top, middle section, and private area. Despite this dress, her complete right leg, thigh, arm, neck, and shoulders are revealed. In the foreground is a Miss Dior perfume bottle with the words Miss Dior and you, what would you do for love? . Kilbourne claims that unrealistic ideas of women are often proposed within ads, such as symbolizing women as objects and not people, or even the idea that if you are not beautiful, then you are nothing. I tend to think about things in a very analytical, philosophical, and empathetic manner. I often question how people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was a shame to me that my mom s action of stepping forward to tell hospital staff about this procedure was the deciding factor of my dad s survival. There had to be something more that the nurses and physicians could have done. I was, and still am, in disbelief. I saw first hand what could happen if one does not know what options of care are available. Those are the types of atrocities that are happening today. Very few people are looking out for the common man and people die every day, needlessly, as a result. Another person, also very near and dear to my heart, has helped develop my values into my sought future. I have been a mentor for a physically and mentally challenged individual named David through an organization called Countryside Association for People with Disabilities. People like David are turned down from healthcare all the time because our health system renders them as functioning adults when, in fact, they are not capable of living on their own at all. If such wonderful parents had not adopted David, the state would not provide care for him past age twenty four, other than providing income for disability. David cannot manage himself. The fact that there are people in the world struggling with similar issues, and nobody to advocate for them worries me. I believe that everyone deserves the right to the best care available without the basis of income, employment, or social standing. I believe cutting edge approaches need to be offered to ... • 31. Essay on The Sonnet Genre Combining with Figurative Language The Sonnet Genre Combining with Figurative Language Compare how the conventions of the sonnet genre combine with figurative language to create meaning in at least two texts. Originating in Italy, the sonnet was established by Petrarch in the 14th century as a major form of love poetry, and came to be adopted in England in the 16th century (Oxford Literary terms). Overtime there have been different types of sonnets written, for example the Italian (Petrarchan) sonnet, the English (Shakespearean) sonnet and the Spenserian sonnet. Each of these sonnets have there own conventions and use different types of poetic language to help create meaning for the reader. For the purpose of this essay we will look at how the conventions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A typical rhyme scheme of a Shakespearean sonnet would be that of ABABCDCDEFEFGG. Spenserian sonnets combine both the Shakespearean and Italian forms. Just like the Shakespearean form it uses 3 quatrains followed by a couplet. However the rhyme scheme is like the Italian, linking all stanzas together ABABBCBCCDCDEE. An essential element of all three types of sonnets is that of the volta which is used to signify a change in subject matter, for example in the Italian form the volta normally occurs at the ninth line. The two sonnets I will be examining within this essay predominantly use the conventions of a Shakespearean sonnet. When exploring the conventions of Sonnet 18 we can see it has the typical conventions of a Shakespearean sonnet using three quatrains and a rhyming couplet. The first quatrain establishes the theme of comparing the speaker s beloved with a summer s day, and why it is difficult to do so. The whole of sonnet 18 is used as an extended metaphor, and this is seen from the very beginning: Shall I compare thee to a summers day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate (1 2) The sonnet begins with a metaphoric question, asking if the speaker should compare this person with summer. The speaker then answers by saying she is more lovely and more temperate this combines with the meaning created by the first quatrain immediately giving the reader an idea that the speaker feels his beloved ... • 32. Biomedical Research Synthesis Essay The source Limits on Risks for Healthy Volunteers in Biomedical Research states that the Yellow Fever Tests were meant to find the cause of the spread of Yellow Fever. This is important to this argument because it shows that there are necessary risks in order to make good progress. Even though the some of the volunteers died from Yellow Fever, it allowed scientists to find the vector (mosquitos). This test is used by both sides to support their argument. Pro restriction people use it as a showing of the inherent risk of biomedical testing, while anti restriction people use it as a showing of the results outweighing the costs. A mix of both sides should be put in place. As stated in the last post, a restriction such as Soft Paternalism should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, healthy people tend to not take the same risks as people who are in desperate need of the product being tested. The only biomedical testing as of now, that should not be restricted from people is DNA Microarrays. According to DNA Microarrays: a Powerful Genomic Tool for Biomedical and Clinical Research, the microarrays can detect diseases and other deformities. Microarray technologies are now used for comparing other genome features, among individuals and their tissues and cells, (DNA Microarrays) This current use could be used to find new diseases that should not be present. This would allow scientists to compare a sick person with a healthy person, and find exactly what is wrong. What determines a healthy person would need to be debated and figured out. Scientists plan on using this technology to quickly diagnose a disease and implement therapeutic interventions. Scientist, by using various regression models such as the Kaplan Meier model (Figure 5), have been figuring out gene selection ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Salmonella Outbreak Essay For the module 1 SLP, we re going to take a brief look at Salmonella and some of the factors that play a role in a foodborne outbreak. We ll look at etiologic agent, host factors, and environmental factors as well as host factors and how they can play a role in the occurrence. First and foremost, we need to see what salmonella is and then we can break it down when we look at the other factors. Salmonella is a bacterial disease that occurs in the intestines, the signs and symptoms can be; fever, or other illnesses such as diarrhea and abdominal cramps. People typically get salmonella from contaminated foods, which seems to occur frequently from poultry and eggs (Nordqvist, 2016). This is just a basic look at salmonella though, next we need to look at the epidemiologic triad (host, agent, and environment) and see how each plays a role in a salmonella outbreak. First the etiologic agent of salmonella; Salmonella gastroenteritis is the infectious agent that causes salmonella. It is transmitted through vehicle transmission, meaning it travels from place to place on something (contaminated meat for example). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 34. Robert Frost s The Tuft Of Flowers And After Apple Picking Intense and meaningful discoveries are often not anticipated, instead being sudden and unexpected. The potential catalysts for discoveries are often unforeseen, resulting in unpredictable, confronting, and challenging discoveries and ramifications. These outlooks are exemplified in Robert Frosts s poetry works, The Tuft of Flowers , and After Apple Picking , and are also demonstrated in the Challenger Disaster Speech delivered by Ronald Reagan to the USA in 1986. We see in both these texts the potential complex ramifications brought forward by unexpected discovery upon an individual. Robert Frost s works explore the unexpected nature of discovery and its catalysts, the complex outcomes they bring forth, and the profound impact of discoveries upon a person. As seen in the dramatic monologue The Tuft of Flowers , the persona is shown to be a farm worker, who goes to a field after the mower to turn the grass. Together, the shared jobs come together to work as a larger agricultural process, but the workers do their jobs individually. In the beginning of the poem, the persona muses on the absence of the other worker, first Looking for him behind an isle of trees; then Listening for his whetstone on the breeze . The persona seeks the company of the worker, but then comes to the conclusion; And I must be, as he had been, alone . The hyphen within this line is used as a caesura to highlight the loneliness of the worker. Due to this observation, the narrator states in a resigned tone All as must be, I said within my heart, Whether they work together or apart . The use of interior monologue, by the persona speaking within his heart highlights his isolation and brings forth the first discovery of the poem, the worker is doing his job alone. The worker s search for company is then mirrored in the appearance of a bewildered butterfly , seeking the flowers of yesterday. The seemingly insignificant occurrence of a butterfly flying past the worker becomes important as it acts as a catalyst for the key meaningful discovery of the poem. The butterfly searching for a flower to land upon draws the attention of the persona to a tuft of flowers, purposefully untouched by the scythe of the mower, in an act of ... • 36. The Electoral College Vs. Electoral College Popular vote Vs. Electoral College My initial feelings about the electoral college vs popular vote is that we need to switch over the the popular vote. There are many benefits, I believe, that could help make everyone s votes matter. With the popular vote it will not matter if you live in a state that vote one side consistently, your vote will matter. I believe that switching the Electoral college to a popular vote would be beneficial to the United States and our citizens. According to the National Forensic League, a popular vote would give equal representation to all states and regions. As the voting is now states that vote one way consistently would be overlooked by candidates and taken for granted. Although the Electoral college states that they give equal balance to each state there is more attention on the swing states. Having a popular vote would change the favoritism to the swing states, and create equality throughout the United states. A popular vote would also make sure that each voter s vote would matter to the election. The way the system sits now, if you are a democratic living in a commonly known Republican State, your vote would be over looked and would matter. Citizens knowing this then give up on voting knowing that it wouldn t matter in an electoral vote. With the switch to popular vote, the citizens would have the final say in the Presidential election ensuring a nation by and for the people. The reason why the Electoral vote was created was because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
