Perfect Models
Perfect having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is
possible to be. . What does perfect mean to you? Does it mean having the perfect body, having the
nicest car, or having a heart of gold? Around the world girls are trying to fit into societies definition of
perfect by undergoing countless procedures, skipping meals, and even harming themselves. But how
can they ignore societies constant pressure when everywhere you look are models with size 2 waists
and DD boobs? But the big question here is, is there too much pressure on girls to have the perfect
body? I believe that fake models have a negative influence on young girls. But Lindsey, not all
companies have fake models. Companies like Aerie and American Eagle are doing campaigns like
Aerie Real and AmerICAN Eagle showing real people modeling their clothes without photoshop,
touchups, etc. . Okay, yes. Many companies are starting campaigns to help girls feel comfortable in
their own skin and accept themselves the way they are, but the number of companies that DO use

A recent study on different magazines and their content showed that there were 10.5 times
(teenink.com) the amount of ads targeted towards women than men. Most of the ads show before and
after pictures of women before they lost weight and after. Many of the after pictures show the women
with their husband or significant other after they ve lost weight. This creates the image that girls have
to be small or petite in order for boys to like them. Some of the diets these ads are promoting are very
harmful to girls by telling them to just not eat or saying all they have to do is take one pill a day and
they ll lose 10 pounds in one week. Many people will argue and say that these ads aren t just targeted
towards women, if that was the case, then why do companies only show women in their ads getting
their life back and not

Imperialism In Frantz Fanon s The Wretched Of The Earth
In his book Culture and Imperialism, Edward Said articulates on the hybrid nature of postcolonial
identities:
No one today is purely one thing. Labels like Indian, or woman, or Muslim, or American are not more
than starting points, which if followed into actual experience for only a moment are quickly left
behind. Imperialism consolidated the mixture of cultures and identities on a global scale. But its worst
and most paradoxical gift was to allow people to believe that they were only, mainly, exclusively,
white, or Black, or Western, or Oriental (Said 336).
Colonialism constructed a sense of hybridity among the colonized and the colonizers reflecting that
homogeneity is nonexistent in post colonial societies; yet, homogeneity ... Show more content on

Mandelic Acid And Buffers Lab Report
p The experiment that will be discussed in this paper is called Acidity Constants of Mandelic Acid and
Acetic Acid and Buffers, which was used to determine the students knowledge of acidity constants,
and how to calculate such of mandelic acid and acetic acid from laboratory measured pH levels of
each solution. In this paper, background information on K SUB a /SUB , pH, mandelic and acetic acid
will be given. Procedures for calculating K SUB a /SUB , acid concentration and percent acidity of
vinegar, along with percent error, will be given as well. Explanations for pH changes will be present
too. /p

As I mentioned earlier, there were 2 trials that we performed for each solution, and each trial had a
different concentration. We did this to see what the pH change would be like for changing
concentrations. For mandelic acid, as molarity increased, so did the K SUB a /SUB , but the pH value
went down. This shows that as the concentration increased, so did the strength of the acid, which is
shown in the K SUB a /SUB value increasing. The more acid there is, the stronger the solution will be,
as well as increasing the ability to dissociate. As the concentration increased, the acidity value
decreased. This means that the solution became more acidic the more acid preset, the more acidic the
solution is. But, despite the fact that the K SUB a /SUB increased, it was by such a small amount that
it is still considered a weak acid. The same changes could be found in the trials that involved acetic
acid. As the concentration of the solution increased, so did the K SUB a /SUB , but the pH value went
down. And the reasons as such are the same for acetic acid as they were for mandelic acid. Despite the
change in K SUB a /SUB value, acetic acid is still considered a weak acid.

China: Torn Apart Or Mended By The Rule Of Mao Zedong
There is controversy whether the rule of Mao Zedong was beneficial or destructive, though by looking
into the depths of history the answer is revealed. As Mao Zedong took control over China on October
1, 1949, he immediately installed many reformations to China s economy, culture, and government.
These reformations proved to be devastating towards the people of China. After decolonization Mao
Zedong s enforcement of communism and international isolation lead China into attempting
industrialization by imposing labor intensive methods, and preventing China from technologically
advancing.
During the beginning of the twentieth century China had become a republic after the rule of Sun ...

However, Chiang s decision to focus his military on the Communists turned out to be a poor choice
because, while the Chinese were occupied with their internal conflicts, the Japanese set up the puppet
state of Manchukuo in 1932 ( China ). The invasion of Japan was devastating for China; civilians were
murdered, raped, tortured, military groups were destroyed, and the government went bankrupt. The
Sino Japanese war finally ended when Tokyo surrendered to the Allies in 1945 at the end of World
War II (Kenley, Republican China ). This lead to the continuation of conflict between the Guomindang
and the Communists. The war turned in favor of the communists, forcing Chiang and his followers to
retreat to the island province of Taiwan (Kenley, Republican China ). On October 1, 1949, Mao
Zedong proclaimed the People s Republic of China after taking domination over China s mainland

to transform the former Republican China.
Due to Mao s aspirations of industrialization and modernization, the Chinese leader drastically

Significant Relationships In Pat s Life
Significant Relationship An important aspect of life is being able to establish a strong network of
support through the development of significant relationships. A network of support can be anyone
from a friend, to a family member, or even a colleague (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2017). The network of
support is those who ultimately help guide an individual during the good and bad moments in life.
Two significant relationships in Pat s life are with his father Patrick Solitano Sr. and with a recently
gained friend, Tiffany Maxwell.

By doing this Tiffany is revealing some shameful secrets, but her vulnerability allows a strong
connection to start to form. Another way she tries to help Pat is by stalking him during his running
routine. While it might be a bit peculiar for her to stalk his runs, she is just trying to motivate and join

competition. Once again forcing him to dance might seem like an odd form of support, but it truly got
Pat out of his comfort zone and allowed him to view himself in a light without his ex wife. The

Societal Values In Homer s Iliad And Women In Genesis
The women in Homer s Iliad and the women in Genesis both exhibit the accepted societal values in a
woman through their duties as wives, which typically consisted of obedience and the ability to sustain
their husband s lineage. Rebekah and Andromache both assume their roles as wives, but sometimes act
in ways outside of the what was considered normal in their society. Though both Rebekah and
Andromache maintain the classic role of a wife, they occasionally contradict the expectations of how a
woman should behave by making decisions traditionally made by men. Through revolutionary
behaviors demonstrated by both women, they grant themselves more authority and power in decision
making, which in turn affects the fate of each woman s family. Both Andromache and Rebekah share a
parallel in terms of their roles in carrying out the fate of their families, however what ultimately
distinguishes one from the other is how successful they are at sustaining those roles.
In the Iliad, Homer displays societal norms placed for wives through the actions of Andromache, yet
at the same time, conveys her as having more power and involvement in the family than what was
expected for a woman at the time to have. In her encounter with her husband, Hector, Andromache
establishes one of her main roles of trying to manipulate fate (moira) through attempting to prevent
him from returning to the war and facing his inevitable death. She pleas for him to show some pity
and stay here by the tower, don t

The Slopes Of War Essay
The Slopes of War written by N.A. Perez follows a realistic fictitious story about the Battle of
Gettysburg during the Civil War, which is also told by the characters told in different perspectives, the
Union and the Confederates. The story utilizes many historical facts regarding the battle, even
including dialogues from Union and Confederate generals. It also tells us the audience the emotional
and physical effects of war, and how the characters are affected by the end of the battle. Although the
novel does portray many themes, imagery, and is told in different perspectives to convey the story, let
s take a look into the physical and emotional effects of the battle, and how those effects make the
story. Out of the three physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We already know the battle has an effect on the history of Gettysburg, but how about the ordinary
citizens? One character from the Union side is Rebekah, who states in page 140, But it s a bigger issue
than how one man treats his slaves, isn t it? What about his right even to to own another human being?
If the North wins the that will be settled for once and for all. Since one of the biggest reasons of the
Civil War happening was slavery, this created a schism in ordinary citizens across the North and
South. This also divided citizens to supporting slavery and advocating to abolish the immoral practice
of enslavement. Rebekah can be clearly be seen as emotionally affected by the war as her two cousins
are fighting for the Confederacy, while her other relatives are fighting to abolish it, for the Union. One
other excerpt from the story that also shows the effect of the battle on the townspeople is from page

shows how ordinary civilians like Rebekah and her family and Jennie Wade can be affected by war,
since Jennie Wade was shot by either by troops of the Union or Confederacy, and also how innocent

Comparing Unnatural Strategies To Relax
Everyone experiences some level of stress whether it is in their school life, work life, or social life
around friends and family. To relieve stress, many people use different strategies to achieve a relaxing
state. Two major ways people are able to relieve stress is naturally and unnaturally. Relieve stress
naturally involves using your own body and mentality to relax while unnatural sources of relaxation
comes drugs like alcohol, marijuana and tobacco products. Unnatural and natural strategies are used to
promote relaxation. Both methods compare and contrast with their beneficial uses, long lasting effects,
and its controversy on overall health. Even though unnatural and natural strategies of relaxing takes
time, they both produce extra benefits beyond solely relaxation. Natural strategies, for example,
exercising not only enables relaxation if done to an extent, but also promotes better heart health,
muscle growth, endurance, and weight loss. While these extra benefits are generally desired, to get to
the point of feeling relaxation may be longer and harder to get. Unnatural strategies for relaxation, like
alcohol, do not give other health benefits like exercising, but it is generally easier to achieve a relaxing
state with less time and effort. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Natural strategies of relaxing including yoga and meditation relax the body as well as the mind. Doing
activities that train the mind to overcome and conquer stressful issues enables a longer strives of
relaxation if one s mind stays focused on being calm. An unnatural strategy like smoking marijuana
differs in how long the relaxation lasts. Unlike meditation where you train your mind to mellow and
become calm, the effect of smoking marijuana lasts for as long as the drug is in a body s system. To
replenish the sense of relaxation again, one must repeat the step that started the

The Biggest Software Disasters
Introduction
This research paper takes a look at two of the biggest software disasters in the past decade,
Healthcare.gov website and the DIA Baggage system. In this paper, I analyze the different engineering
approaches that were used, assess the success or failure of each to draw conclusions regarding best
practices. Healthcare.gov
The Affordable Care Act also known as ObamaCare was signed into law by President Barack Obama
on
March 23, 2010 to overhaul the US healthcare system. HealthCare.gov is a health insurance exchange
website that was created as a result of this law. The objective of the website is to create a marketplace
of health insurance companies and facilitate the sale of private health insurance plans to residents. ...

Thus the Healthcare.gov is a huge complex system. Designing a complex system such as this is quite
an undertaking. A good design approach is required. A properly designed system goes a long way to
make testing easier.
Healthcare.gov Architecture
The Healthcare.gov consists of the following major components
1. A dynamic website and transaction processing application called the Federally Facilitated
Marketplace (FFM)
2. A Data Services Hub
3.A set of distributed services comprising of the new and legacy systems of many health insurance
companies and government agencies.
Figure 1. Healthcare.gov logical system architecture [1]
The FFM requirement was to interact in real time with other systems, existing federal agency
databases and online services of more 170 insurance companies doing business in the 36 states. The
data services hub allows the insurance companies to validate information provided by applicants
against information maintained in the federal agencies databases. The distributed services are the
services provided by the insurance and the government agencies through published APIs. So the data
services hub connect to all these different entities through their application programming interfaces.
Problems
The four activities fundamental to software engineering are software specification, software
development (design and implementation), software validation and software evolution. These
activities are used

Important Symbols in Lord of the Flies by William Golding
In William Golding s novel Lord of the Flies, he uses unique elements to symbolize many concepts
throughout the story. The two most important but differing symbols used throughout the novel are the
Conch and Sow s head symbolically used by the author to demonstrate the transition of good to evil as
the darkness of savagery slowly begins to powerfully overtake the boys mental concept of their
civilian nature that they were born into. Both symbolically represent a certain importance and power
to the boys as they fight to maintain order and civility on the island while trying to contain control
over the group of young boys as they begin to abandon all ties to their once civilized life and mindset
that they once knew. Isolation and daily struggles to survive on the island lead to the transition to
killing and becoming more barbaric. The taste of killing and power becomes an overpowering
obsession that the boys cannot consciously control.
Lord of the Flies is a novel using different elements to show symbolism of different people in society
and their reactions when cut off from the world and left to survive on their own. The conch and sow s
head are used as power over the group of boys.
Jack Uses the conch to try and keep everyone working together, while Jack uses the sow s head to
threaten and show that meat and killing is the only importance in staying alive. Both boys have two
different concepts and mental thinking of how things should be run on the island. Jack and Ralph s

Conflict Management Styles At The Individual And Little...
Numerous questions remain unasked and unanswered: Is there any confirmation that conflict cultures
exist at the authoritative level? How do such unmistakable conflict cultures create? How do leaders
shape the advancement of conflict cultures? What are the results of conflict cultures for authoritative
level results? Answers to these inquiries can t be found in the psychological literature on conflict,
which has for the most part centered around conflict management styles at the individual and little
gathering level. In this paper, we begin with the reason that despite the fact that people have particular
inclinations for distinctive conflict management methodologies, associations give solid settings
(Johns, 2006; O Reilly and Chatman, 1996) that serve to characterize socially shared and regularizing
approaches to oversee struggle what we allude to as conflict cultures which decrease singular variety
in conflict managing strategies(De Dreu, van Dierendonck, and Dijkstra, 2004; Gelfand, Leslie, and
Keller, 2008). Since standards regularly create around major issues that should be overseen in any
social framework (Schein, 1992; Schwartz, 1994), and conflict is a characteristic issue in most if not
every authoritative framework (Argyris, 1971), we expect that conflict cultures can create in numerous
associations. We suggest that conflict cultures, similar to their individual level and little gathering
analogs (De Church and Marks, 2001), take the type of avoidant, commanding,

How Did Hitler Gain Power
Adolf Hitler was born on the 20th of April in 1889 in a small village in Austria. This little boy would
later become one of the most feared men in the entire world. A man who would singlehandedly
become responsible for the death and suffering of millions of people. How was it possible for such a
man to get all this power? Hitler became so powerful because of three factors: The Treaty of
Versailles, the German economic crisis and the use of propaganda.
The Treaty of Versailles was an important catalyst for Hitler s rise to power. On 28 July 1919 the
Treaty of Versailles was signed by the Weimar Republic. This caused Germany to lose a large piece of
their territory. Additionally, Germany also needed to admit guilt of the war. This made German ...

With propaganda Hitler tried to convince people that the Nazi s was the only right party. In 1929
Hitler chose Josef Goebbels to be his minister of propaganda. Josef Goebbels created campaigns with
slogans and pictures which were spread throughout the country to convince and persuade people about
ideas. Hitler used propaganda in different ways. Pro Nazi s movies were made under production of
Josef Goebbels and books with Nazi propaganda were written. The Nazi s even sent instructions to
newspapers which instructed them to write anti Jewish stories. Josef Goebbels made sure that no one
could see or read something that was damaging to the Nazi s. Books which did not match with the
Nazi ideal were burned and the Nazi s even controlled the film industry. This meant many movies
idealized Hitler and the Nazi party. Hitler used propaganda because although he won the elections, he
did not have the majority of support along the people. Therefore he wanted to ensure the people that
the Nazi party was the only correct choice. Moreover he wanted to convince people who did not
support him that it was pointless to continue with their opposition. The Nazi s use of propaganda
helped Hitler to convince the German people of his ideas. Goebbels once said: The essence of
propaganda consists in winning people over to an idea so sincerely, so vitally, that in the end they
succumb to it utterly and can never escape from it. This illustrates the importance of propaganda in
winning the peoples support and subsequently gaining

The Myth Of Stress
Stress is a hurdle that is thrown my way daily. Personally, I ve always viewed my stress as having a
negative effect in my life. I have always blamed my stress for the cause of my depression, face
breakouts, and the way I handle situations. All my life I have been told you re going to make yourself
sick if you keep stressing. Or I have been asked are you going through a hard time? Your face seems
to be really broken out. For as long as I can remember I have been a big stressor. A major cause of my
stress today would be trying to adjust from being a high school student to a college student. I ve found
myself having two breakdowns so far and it is only my first semester of college. I chose to attend
Collin College because I personally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ve always heard of stress being a leading cause of severe illnesses such as cancer, stomach ulcers,
and cardiovascular diseases. However, I learned that the stories of stress causing cancer is only a
myth. Stress can cause the cancer cells that we have in our body to spread, but it isn t the source of
cancer like the myth states. Stress is a major cause in the rise of blood pressure, which eventually can
lead a person to have a heart attack. I also found the internal and external locus of control very
interesting. People who believe that they have an internal locus of control believe that they are in full
control of their life. These people look at struggles in their life and build a way around them without
blaming something or someone else for their struggles. These people tend to have a much healthier
life because they are in full control of their happiness and how much they let stress take over their
lives. People who have an external locus of control believe that they simply have no influence on what
happens in their life. These people blame what s happening in the world around them for what is
happening in their lives now.
Before learning about what it means to have an internal or external locus of control I would have
categorized myself as having an external locus. I tend to blame other people for the cause of my stress
rather than taking it into my own hands. This is something that I need to work on personally to be able
to survive in not only college but in the working world as well. Now that I know what it means to
have an internal locus of control it has become my goal to set my own happiness and not let stress get
in my way of my own

Eminent Domain Paper
When Should Eminent Domain be Used?
When should a city or state use their eminent domain powers? Over the past few years there have been
a couple of cases that raised the questions of when eminent domain should be used. One of the most
controversial cases in the history of the United States was the Kelo v New
London Supreme Court ruling. In order to generate tax revenue, add jobs, and to prevent bankruptcy,
the government s right to initiate eminent domain for public good is a necessary evil.
Eminent domain in definition is the right or power of public purposes without the owner s consent on
payment of just compensation ( Eminent Domain History ). Eminent domain has been a part of the
United States ever since the constitution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which would cause the city to grow and that would provide more money to the government with the
increased tax revenue from all of the new families. This could create more jobs, because more
companies might be interested in locating there due to all of the growth. Eminent domain should also
be used by a city or state if it prevents it from going bankrupt.
A city or state should use eminent domain if it prevents it from going bankrupt. If a city is near
bankrupt then it cannot provide all of the necessary items that a city needs in order to run like it is
supposed to. For example, if a city is short of funds then it would have to reduce its budget in places
that would harm the city. It would have to cut money from the police, and fire departments. However,
by using their eminent domain powers a city could keep all of this from happening by letting a
business come that would create thousands in tax dollars, and add jobs to the city. This means that a
reduction in the police and fire departments would not happen and the city would still run smoothly.
The cities and states that use eminent domain to acquire land in order to keep themselves running
smoothly is sad; however, these cities and states are looking out for what is best for their areas. These
cities and states are not trying to make families move out of their homes in order to earn a quick
dollar. These cities and states are only

The Battle Of Power Over The Galaxy
In the year 3015 two big name pirate clans took the galaxy by storm as they made smaller and weaker
clans kneel before them. The names of these clans are Galactic Patriots and Supernova Spacehawks.
Of course they were enemies and their true goals were to annihilate one another before the gained too
much power, that day will come but for now I will tell you the story of what seemed like a victory and
only lead to failure. The rivalries have been long lived not just between the Galactic Patriots and the
Supernova Spacehawks but with the other clans as well. Every year there s a battle for power over the
galaxy typically clans that have done well before have a better chance of winning. The ones who have
won power the most are the Milky Way Steelers with 6 years won, the Asteroid Cowboys and the
Zenith 49ers both with 5 years won. Of course there are other clans who have won, but not as
successfully as these ones. To get to the top position they have to fight sector leaders and in this case
the Galactic Patriots had to fight the Nebula Ravens to gain control of their sector. The Supernova
Spacehawks on the other hand had to fight the Lightspeed Panthers to gain control. Then the they
would have to go on and fight everyone who took control of their sectors and fight for their system
which means the Galactic Patriots had to fight the Blazar Colts for control and the Supernova
Spacehawks had to fight the Megaparsec Packers and for control. The Patriots and the Spacehawks

The Psychology Of Self Esteem
Furthermore, the effects of these awards go far beyond sports and contests. Being awarded at such a
young age for just about anything is highly misleading of how the real world works. Many young
Americans have developed a sense of entitlement, expecting to gain more in return for less effort. Per
a study done by Bernard Goldberg approximately one out of every three college students believes they
deserve a B just for attending their courses. This sense of privilege is an almost contagious mind set
that has only gotten worse. But many ask how exactly the idea that one should be rewarded for almost
anything began?
The self esteem movement was developed in 1969 after Nathaniel Branden wrote The Psychology of
Self Esteem. The idea Branden proposed was that self esteem is essential to overall success in life.
This caused many parents to believe that, if they could start by increasing their children s self esteem
they would become more successful in the future. This brought up ideas intended to help children gain
more confidence and self worth. For example, all children should receive participation awards so that
no child would feel bad for not winning. Consequently, studies have found that children s self image
may be negatively impacted by the ideas behind participation trophies and awards. Yet, parents still
encourage rewards be given to all children.
There seem to be two obvious reasons why parents want their children to receive trophies. One, they
are terrified of how

When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, the results are nearly always catastrophic.
Having an internal necessity to strive for something only to be anchored down by your responsibilities
is the biggest example of this. In Ernest J. Gaines novel A Lesson Before Dying, the main conflict is
portrayed as man vs. self within the protagonist of the story, Grant Wiggins. Grant is entrusted with
the responsibility of making Jefferson feel as if he dies a man and not a hog as he was first depicted.

same perspective. This affected Grant by causing an internal festering of even more loathing towards
himself because he s grasping for straws and feels as if he cannot teach the man at stake what his aunt
and Miss. Emma wish for so badly. Side conflicts such as Grant s struggle with his students tie in
along with his internal struggle. His problems with his classroom and how he feels as if his job is
useless make him feel as if he isn t living his life to its fullest, causing him to be extremely strict and
harsh with his students as showed when grant says to himself they are exactly as the old men earlier.
They are fifty years younger, maybe more, but doing the same thing those men did who never
attended school a day in their life. Is it just a vicious circle? Am i doing anything? (Gaines) Grant feels
useless and this attributes to his internal conflict that he is unable to save

Beowulf, Christianity, and Paganism Essay
Beowulf, Christianity, and Paganism
The poem Beowulf is a renowned story that displays many different surroundings and religious
beliefs. Some may believe the story of Beowulf portrays pagan beliefs or customs and others believe
that the poem is more in agreement with Christian ethnicity. The author of Beowulf uses both
Christian and pagan elements in the poem to define the heroic warrior, Beowulf, and the evil dragons.
After reading Beowulf the author clearly shows how Beowulf is a man who is filled with Christian
customs and is willing to die and defend the world against evil using the help of God.
Beowulf s courage and faith can be seen throughout the entire poem. The author shows what the other
characters thought of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote clearly shows the reference back to the Bible. It explains how the author uses Grendel as
one of the offspring s of Cain whom killed his brother Abel. Beowulf was the one warrior who was
able to stop Grendel. Beowulf travels to Grendel s lair in the marsh with some of his finest soldiers.
When Beowulf and his men met Grendel the weapons of Beowulf s army became dull from a spell.
The weapons could not scratch the skin of Grendel. Beowulf used the faith from God to defeat
Grendel without the use of weapons. Beowulf was able to hold onto Grendel s arms until they were
ripped off. Beowulf put his life at risk by using his courage and faith to overcome Grendel.
Another evil that Beowulf was able to concur using the help of God was Grendel s Mother. Grendel s
Mother was furious about the death of her only son and came into Hrothgar s kingdom. While in the
kingdom she captured one of Hrothgar s men and devoured him. Before Grendel s mother flees she
takes the arm of her son which is hanging in the hall as a trophy. Beowulf then takes his men along
with Hrothgar s to the cave in which Grendel s mother lives. The author shows Beowulf s courage in

Goal: I want to make sure that my evidence and my reasoning make sense and support my claim.
When starch molecules are in our mouth, enzymes in our saliva start a chemical reaction which makes
starch molecules break down and turn into glucose.
There was evidence of starch being broken down into glucose when we did lesson 4 in our book, we
tested to see if five different solutions contained glucose and starch. During the experiment, we tested
to see if 10 drops of cracker solution and 10 drops of cracker solution and amylase contain glucose.
During the experiment there was a color change in the solution that had the cracker solution and the

My second piece of evidence was when we chewed the cracker for two minutes in class and in reading

The Horror And Thematic Thrill Of The Zombie
As a public discourse, popular narrative engages with social issues expressing a collective critique
encouraging or discouraging social conformity. As Drezner states, pop culture can have an informing
effect of calling attention to and framing a particular problem. Popular culture can also have an
enabling effect of providing shorthand references that trigger awareness of a problem (Drezner 831).
Beneath the horror and thematic thrill of the zombie film franchise, the zombie as a figure in popular

number one over Dreamworks movies and any other cartoon producers in the industry. Looking
closely though, I realized there is more to it than just drawing and speaking for the characters. There s
a process that can last from months up to years. Let s take a look firstly at how Disney Animated
movies are made.
What starts the good movie? All the animators and directors gather in a room to put together ideas for

Essay The Ethics of Sonography and Gendercide
The constantly growing field of medical technology has raised many questions especially pertaining to
ethics. The mapping of the human genome, cloning technologies, stem cell research, and of course
reproductive technology has caused some very real dilemmas over the role of the human decision in
the creation and orientation of new life. Humans are able to accomplish amazing things in science, but
at what cost? The ubiquitous nature of reproductive technology has caused a new discipline of
reproductive ethics. One such dilemma is that of selective abortion due to sex preference. In this paper
I will discuss the ethics of gendercide and sonography s affect on this practice
Sex selective abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy ... Show more content on

These technologies changed everything. Previously, parents would resort to infanticide to be sure they
could have a boy. Now parents who wanted a son, but balked at killing baby daughters were able to
choose abortion instead. Even today, there are no proven practices that allow gender detection during
the first trimester, and ultrasound is fairly unreliable until approximately the 20th week of pregnancy.
Consequently, sex selection often requires late term abortion of a fetus.
This practice not only affects the family but the society as a whole. It has caused an increase in the
imbalances between sex ratios. Boys are slightly more likely to die in infancy than girls. To
compensate, more boys are born than girls so there will be equal numbers of young men and women at
puberty. In all societies that record births, between 103 and 106 boys are normally born for every 100
girls. The ratio has been so stable over generations that it appears to be the usual order of things. That
order has changed drastically in the last 25 years. According to research the ratio today is 123 boys per
100 girls. These rates are not possible without human intervention.
There are many reasons as to why this practice has become so popular in many countries around the
world. It is said that by having a one child policy, China has increased the rate of abortion of female
fetuses. As most Chinese families are given incentives to have only one child, and would

Stereotypes In The Film Smoke Signals
The film does not rely on any other source other than the Inuk people, and this is why this film has
become important to First Peoples media, because of the film s dedication to authenticity, revitalizing
interest in long standing traditions. With Smoke Signals , Survivance is demonstrated differently than
in Atanarjuat. In Smoke Signals , it was evident that Victor was influenced by stereotypes of Native
Americans that were present in the United States. For example there is the bus scene where Victor and
Thomas traveled to retrieve the ashes of Victor s father in Arizona, in that scene Victor told Thomas
that he did have the image of a Native American. To Victor, a stoic and warrior like image garnered
respect and fear from others. As the film progressed Victor transform as a character both in how he
lived as an individual and how he saw his Coeur d Alene Heritage. The catalyst for Victor s change of
mind was Thomas. Throughout the film, Thomas acted as a shaman, telling stories about the Coeur d
Alene and the people of the reservation. Thomas shaman like character was a way to remind Victor
that he could never let go of his heritage. The interaction between Thomas and Victor is a
representation of the film as a whole and its message. The Survivance that was present in the film was
directed at every population of First Peoples. Smoke Signals extends its reach to a vast audience and
that was its goal as a film, unlike Atanarjuat s focus on the Inuk people. By

Argumentative Essay On Donald Trump
While Liu chooses his ten main ten things to be mostly politics, I will do almost the same. The most
important person in America is always the president, so naturally, I will include Donald Trump on my
list. Secondly, along the lines of politics will be Net Neutrality. I don t have a strong opinion on it
myself, but I do believe it is essential to know the ins and outs of it due to how important the internet
is. The third topic will be pure politics. Hirsh did not include the simple word of politics, so I will add
it myself. The fourth will be Elon Musk, a tech giant. Finally is video games, which is something dear
to my heart, and also ingrained in most of society. This should be learned by any American or soon to
be American due to their importance on America s culture.
Donald Trump, America s current president. He didn t come to power easily. But that is what makes
him so important. Trump s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and still is not to
this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn t be pushed aside by
some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in that he was a large
businessman, he was a billionaire. This means he s probably well versed in the political side of
businesses. However, with this, he also lacks the knowledge of being a politician. He never held an
office anywhere else. He only shares this with five other presidents. Everyone should know how

Cod liver oil, believe it or not, is a potent Vitamin A resource. Read the label to be well informed,

  • 2. Perfect Models Perfect having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be. . What does perfect mean to you? Does it mean having the perfect body, having the nicest car, or having a heart of gold? Around the world girls are trying to fit into societies definition of perfect by undergoing countless procedures, skipping meals, and even harming themselves. But how can they ignore societies constant pressure when everywhere you look are models with size 2 waists and DD boobs? But the big question here is, is there too much pressure on girls to have the perfect body? I believe that fake models have a negative influence on young girls. But Lindsey, not all companies have fake models. Companies like Aerie and American Eagle are doing campaigns like Aerie Real and AmerICAN Eagle showing real people modeling their clothes without photoshop, touchups, etc. . Okay, yes. Many companies are starting campaigns to help girls feel comfortable in their own skin and accept themselves the way they are, but the number of companies that DO use photoshop on their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A recent study on different magazines and their content showed that there were 10.5 times (teenink.com) the amount of ads targeted towards women than men. Most of the ads show before and after pictures of women before they lost weight and after. Many of the after pictures show the women with their husband or significant other after they ve lost weight. This creates the image that girls have to be small or petite in order for boys to like them. Some of the diets these ads are promoting are very harmful to girls by telling them to just not eat or saying all they have to do is take one pill a day and they ll lose 10 pounds in one week. Many people will argue and say that these ads aren t just targeted towards women, if that was the case, then why do companies only show women in their ads getting their life back and not ... • 3. Imperialism In Frantz Fanon s The Wretched Of The Earth In his book Culture and Imperialism, Edward Said articulates on the hybrid nature of postcolonial identities: No one today is purely one thing. Labels like Indian, or woman, or Muslim, or American are not more than starting points, which if followed into actual experience for only a moment are quickly left behind. Imperialism consolidated the mixture of cultures and identities on a global scale. But its worst and most paradoxical gift was to allow people to believe that they were only, mainly, exclusively, white, or Black, or Western, or Oriental (Said 336). Colonialism constructed a sense of hybridity among the colonized and the colonizers reflecting that homogeneity is nonexistent in post colonial societies; yet, homogeneity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to avoid that, they must implement a method of resistance that will counteract the colonizer s ideas; they must avoid following the colonizer s footsteps. The purpose of this paper is to implement Sartre s and Fanon s concept of nervous conditions as experienced by the native intellectual in the analysis of the two protagonists, Mustafa and the unnamed narrator, in Tayeb Salih s Season of Migration to the North. In 1899, British and Egyptian forces invaded Sudan, bringing it under their condominium control. After World War I, Sudanese nationalism movement gained popularity particularly among the northerners, and Sudan was able to achieve its independence in 1956 (Dani, The Growth of Nationalism in the Sudan under Anglo Egyptian Rule (1899 1956). This novel is set in the 1960s, a significant and tumultuous time in Sudan s history that continues to be haunted by the horrors of British colonization. The novel begins with the return of an unnamed narrator from Europe to the small village at the bend of the Nile (Salih 33) in his native Sudan after three years of pursuing English education. Upon his arrival, he recognizes a newcomer to the village, Mustafa, who had come here five years ago, had bought himself a farm, built a house and married Mahmoud s daughter (Salih 9). Mandelic Acid And Buffers Lab Report p The experiment that will be discussed in this paper is called Acidity Constants of Mandelic Acid and Acetic Acid and Buffers, which was used to determine the students knowledge of acidity constants, and how to calculate such of mandelic acid and acetic acid from laboratory measured pH levels of each solution. In this paper, background information on K SUB a /SUB , pH, mandelic and acetic acid will be given. Procedures for calculating K SUB a /SUB , acid concentration and percent acidity of vinegar, along with percent error, will be given as well. Explanations for pH changes will be present too. /p p But before discussion on the experiment and the results can really start, the reader must first understand some background information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I mentioned earlier, there were 2 trials that we performed for each solution, and each trial had a different concentration. We did this to see what the pH change would be like for changing concentrations. For mandelic acid, as molarity increased, so did the K SUB a /SUB , but the pH value went down. This shows that as the concentration increased, so did the strength of the acid, which is shown in the K SUB a /SUB value increasing. The more acid there is, the stronger the solution will be, as well as increasing the ability to dissociate. As the concentration increased, the acidity value decreased. This means that the solution became more acidic the more acid preset, the more acidic the solution is. But, despite the fact that the K SUB a /SUB increased, it was by such a small amount that it is still considered a weak acid. The same changes could be found in the trials that involved acetic acid. As the concentration of the solution increased, so did the K SUB a /SUB , but the pH value went down. And the reasons as such are the same for acetic acid as they were for mandelic acid. Despite the change in K SUB a /SUB value, acetic acid is still considered a weak acid. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chin Torn Apart Or Mended By The Rule Of Zedong China: Torn Apart Or Mended By The Rule Of Mao Zedong There is controversy whether the rule of Mao Zedong was beneficial or destructive, though by looking into the depths of history the answer is revealed. As Mao Zedong took control over China on October 1, 1949, he immediately installed many reformations to China s economy, culture, and government. These reformations proved to be devastating towards the people of China. After decolonization Mao Zedong s enforcement of communism and international isolation lead China into attempting industrialization by imposing labor intensive methods, and preventing China from technologically advancing. The invasion of Japan was devastating for China; civilians were murdered, raped, tortured, military groups were destroyed, and the government went bankrupt. The Sino Japanese war finally ended when Tokyo surrendered to the Allies in 1945 at the end of World War II (Kenley, Republican China ). This lead to the continuation of conflict between the Guomindang and the Communists. The war turned in favor of the communists, forcing Chiang and his followers to retreat to the island province of Taiwan (Kenley, Republican China ). On October 1, 1949, Mao Zedong proclaimed the People s Republic of China after taking domination over China s mainland (Kenley, Republican China ). Mao Zedong continued to rule China under Communist rule and started to transform the former Republican China. • 8. Societal Values In Homer s Iliad And Women In Genesis The women in Homer s Iliad and the women in Genesis both exhibit the accepted societal values in a woman through their duties as wives, which typically consisted of obedience and the ability to sustain their husband s lineage. Rebekah and Andromache both assume their roles as wives, but sometimes act in ways outside of the what was considered normal in their society. Though both Rebekah and Andromache maintain the classic role of a wife, they occasionally contradict the expectations of how a woman should behave by making decisions traditionally made by men. Through revolutionary behaviors demonstrated by both women, they grant themselves more authority and power in decision making, which in turn affects the fate of each woman s family. Both Andromache and Rebekah share a parallel in terms of their roles in carrying out the fate of their families, however what ultimately distinguishes one from the other is how successful they are at sustaining those roles. In the Iliad, Homer displays societal norms placed for wives through the actions of Andromache, yet at the same time, conveys her as having more power and involvement in the family than what was expected for a woman at the time to have. In her encounter with her husband, Hector, Andromache establishes one of her main roles of trying to manipulate fate (moira) through attempting to prevent him from returning to the war and facing his inevitable death. How do such unmistakable conflict cultures create? How do leaders shape the advancement of conflict cultures? What are the results of conflict cultures for authoritative level results? Answers to these inquiries can t be found in the psychological literature on conflict, which has for the most part centered around conflict management styles at the individual and little gathering level. In this paper, we begin with the reason that despite the fact that people have particular inclinations for distinctive conflict management methodologies, associations give solid settings (Johns, 2006; O Reilly and Chatman, 1996) that serve to characterize socially shared and regularizing approaches to oversee struggle what we allude to as conflict cultures which decrease singular variety in conflict managing strategies(De Dreu, van Dierendonck, and Dijkstra, 2004; Gelfand, Leslie, and Keller, 2008). Since standards regularly create around major issues that should be overseen in any social framework (Schein, 1992; Schwartz, 1994), and conflict is a characteristic issue in most if not every authoritative framework (Argyris, 1971), we expect that conflict cultures can create in numerous associations. Being awarded at such a young age for just about anything is highly misleading of how the real world works. Many young Americans have developed a sense of entitlement, expecting to gain more in return for less effort. Per a study done by Bernard Goldberg approximately one out of every three college students believes they deserve a B just for attending their courses. This sense of privilege is an almost contagious mind set that has only gotten worse. But many ask how exactly the idea that one should be rewarded for almost anything began? The self esteem movement was developed in 1969 after Nathaniel Branden wrote The Psychology of Self Esteem. The idea Branden proposed was that self esteem is essential to overall success in life. This caused many parents to believe that, if they could start by increasing their children s self esteem they would become more successful in the future. This brought up ideas intended to help children gain more confidence and self worth. For example, all children should receive participation awards so that no child would feel bad for not winning. Consequently, studies have found that children s self image may be negatively impacted by the ideas behind participation trophies and awards. In commonality with the genre, in McDonald s film, they share a sense of unconsciousness, which as stated by Drezner, Both informing and enabling effects highlight the positive ways that the living dead can be expropriated as a metaphor to spark interest in new ideas. The moment zombies are added into the, a dry public policy problem suddenly becomes a rollicking argument accessible to ordinary citizens. (Drezner 833). Through the representation of the zombie in McDonald s film, the mind of private opinion masses into the public sphere as radical thought causing the victim to reform their behavior to that of commonality with the social structure of the zombies. The illness of Pontypool is one that affects the linguistic ability of the victim. The power of words is the catalyst that brings the epidemic into motion, therefore, as the disease progresses they cannot control their minds. • 31. Disney Vs Pixar Research Paper One thing that has always given me interest is the process through which Disney movies go through in order to wow us like they always do. Both Disney Animation and Pixar movies focus mainly on being number one over Dreamworks movies and any other cartoon producers in the industry. Looking closely though, I realized there is more to it than just drawing and speaking for the characters. There s a process that can last from months up to years. Let s take a look firstly at how Disney Animated movies are made. What starts the good movie? All the animators and directors gather in a room to put together ideas for a movie. Here, ideas are tossed around and rejected until everyone settles on one. Characters are born as well as setting, plot and faith for every character. Now that they have the story set,its time for dialogue to be born. To my surprise, voice actors are called ... As soon as the entire film has been drawn on paper, they are sent to the inking department where they are copied onto clear celluloid acetate or Cels .This is paper that looks like clear plastic bags.. Once they have been copied, the inking department sends them to painting departments. Unlike coloring from a coloring book, the Cel s are flipped over and painted facing down. They do this so that characters look more realistic and with outline. Before the fully painted cel s get photographed., a background needs to be given to the character. That is why these characters are drawn on clear paper,so a background can be inserted behind them..The last step in for this is for the animators to take pictures of their finished cel s with backgrounds, add the dialogue and finish their ... • 32. Essay The Ethics of Sonography and Gendercide The constantly growing field of medical technology has raised many questions especially pertaining to ethics. The mapping of the human genome, cloning technologies, stem cell research, and of course reproductive technology has caused some very real dilemmas over the role of the human decision in the creation and orientation of new life. Humans are able to accomplish amazing things in science, but at what cost? The ubiquitous nature of reproductive technology has caused a new discipline of reproductive ethics. One such dilemma is that of selective abortion due to sex preference. In this paper I will discuss the ethics of gendercide and sonography s affect on this practice Sex selective abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These technologies changed everything. Previously, parents would resort to infanticide to be sure they could have a boy. Now parents who wanted a son, but balked at killing baby daughters were able to choose abortion instead. Even today, there are no proven practices that allow gender detection during the first trimester, and ultrasound is fairly unreliable until approximately the 20th week of pregnancy. Consequently, sex selection often requires late term abortion of a fetus. This practice not only affects the family but the society as a whole. It has caused an increase in the imbalances between sex ratios. Boys are slightly more likely to die in infancy than girls. To compensate, more boys are born than girls so there will be equal numbers of young men and women at puberty. In all societies that record births, between 103 and 106 boys are normally born for every 100 girls. The ratio has been so stable over generations that it appears to be the usual order of things. That order has changed drastically in the last 25 years. According to research the ratio today is 123 boys per 100 girls. These rates are not possible without human intervention. There are many reasons as to why this practice has become so popular in many countries around the world. It is said that by having a one child policy, China has increased the rate of abortion of female fetuses. As most Chinese families are given incentives to have only one child, and would ... • 33. Stereotypes In The Film Smoke Signals The film does not rely on any other source other than the Inuk people, and this is why this film has become important to First Peoples media, because of the film s dedication to authenticity, revitalizing interest in long standing traditions. With Smoke Signals , Survivance is demonstrated differently than in Atanarjuat. In Smoke Signals , it was evident that Victor was influenced by stereotypes of Native Americans that were present in the United States. For example there is the bus scene where Victor and Thomas traveled to retrieve the ashes of Victor s father in Arizona, in that scene Victor told Thomas that he did have the image of a Native American. To Victor, a stoic and warrior like image garnered respect and fear from others. As the film progressed Victor transform as a character both in how he lived as an individual and how he saw his Coeur d Alene Heritage. The catalyst for Victor s change of mind was Thomas. Throughout the film, Thomas acted as a shaman, telling stories about the Coeur d Alene and the people of the reservation. Thomas shaman like character was a way to remind Victor that he could never let go of his heritage. The interaction between Thomas and Victor is a representation of the film as a whole and its message. The Survivance that was present in the film was directed at every population of First Peoples. Smoke Signals extends its reach to a vast audience and that was its goal as a film, unlike Atanarjuat s focus on the Inuk people. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I don t have a strong opinion on it myself, but I do believe it is essential to know the ins and outs of it due to how important the internet is. The third topic will be pure politics. Hirsh did not include the simple word of politics, so I will add it myself. The fourth will be Elon Musk, a tech giant. Finally is video games, which is something dear to my heart, and also ingrained in most of society. This should be learned by any American or soon to be American due to their importance on America s culture. Donald Trump, America s current president. He didn t come to power easily. But that is what makes him so important. Trump s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and still is not to this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn t be pushed aside by some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in that he was a large businessman, he was a billionaire. This means he s probably well versed in the political side of businesses. However, with this, he also lacks the knowledge of being a politician. He never held an office anywhere else. He only shares this with five other presidents. Everyone should know how Trump came to be, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
