Origin Of Forensic Science Essay
ORIGIN AND SERVICES OF FORENSIC SCIENCE
For most people, forensic science means cops and fingerprints and DNA analysis. All of that is still
true, but these days forensic science encompasses much more. Forensic science, also known as
forensics, may generally be defined as the application of scientific, technical, or other specialized
knowledge to assist courts in resolving questions of fact in civil and criminal trials. In other words
forensic science, in its broadest definition, is the application of science to law. Forensic science is
carried out by forensic scientists, whose primary objective is the even handed use of all the available
information to determine the facts and ultimately the truth no matter who they are ... Show more

For example, when a car hits another car, paint from the first car will be deposited on the second one
and vice versa. Similarly, when somebody sits on a chair, fibers from his/her clothing will be
deposited on the chair and fibers from the cloth of the chair will be deposited on the person s clothing.
Although there are different people that can be cited for the start of forensics, many people still
believe that you can solve a case over night like how it s shown on television. Many people like all the
forensic scientist has to do is collect small evidences and presso the case it solved but their job is
much harder in real life then television. A lot of the information seen on television is misleading
because forensic scientists are involved in all aspects of criminal and civil cases as well as among
others, the family courts, immigration and employment tribunals and the results of their work may
serve either the prosecution, defense or either side in a hearing as well as acting more recently as a
single joint expert. Forensic science and the work of the forensic scientist does have an impact on the
number of cases entering our legal system by assisting the decision makers before a case reaches the
court, as the facts developed by the forensic scientist are based on scientific investigation which may
convince the prosecution team that the case does not merit a

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus And Its Effects On The Body...
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, or Erythematous, also known as SLE, is a chronic inflammatory,
autoimmune disease that transpires when the body s own immune system assaults, with variable
manifestations , it s own tissues and organ systems throughout the itself1,2,3. This can also include
joints, heart, lungs, skin, brain, blood cells, etc1. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is known to have an
impact on the organ network involved with immune complexes and multiple antibodies, especially
antinuclear antibodies, or ANAs, an abnormal antibody that is targeted to cause certain edemas
throughout the body and different tissues4. Like lightning or tiger stripes, no two diagnoses of
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus are exactly alike. Some signs and symptoms might be mild, while
others could be more severe, occurring suddenly or possibly developing slowly over time1. Cases of
SLE could be a permanent fixture in an individual s life, or could be temporary, decreasing in
occurrence or symptoms in women during and after menopause1. Fatigue is one of the more common
signs and symptoms in close to 80% of the cases reported, which in turn leads to decreased physical
activity and subsequently a lessened ability to execute activities of daily living because of the decline
of isometric strenght2,4. Because of the fatigue and having lower dynamic muscle strength , impeded
career opportunities, a lessened quality of life, and capabilities of a low functional performance, many

James Chadwick Research Paper
Just In! James Chadwick Has Discovered The Neutron! It was a great day in May of 1932 and when
we finally received answers to the other particle in the nucleus. After many years of questions and
theories; one man James Chadwick has discovered a new uncharged particle, the neutron. Chadwick
had been studying to find this particle since 1914 in Germany with Hans Geiger, unfortunately due to
World War I he was arrested and his studies were put on halt. Although he was in prison he was still
able to do some scientific studies after creating a science club with some fellow prisoners; and
convincing the guards to allow them to have a lab. Eventually he was released and return to England
where he earned his PhD at Cambridge with Ernest Rutherford. ... Show more content on

This information has not always been know to man though. Thankfully scientist such as J.J
Thompson, Ernest Rutherford, and James Chadwick were able to perform experiments to shed more
light on what the atom was made of. The electron was first found in 1897 by J.J Thompson; shortly
after in 1911 the nucleus was discovered by Rutherford, leading to him later discovering the proton in
1919. Before James Chadwick discovered the neutron many scientists believed that there were
additional protons in the nucleus, along with the equal number of electrons to cancel out the additional
charge. Then in 1920 Rutherford thought that the protons plus the electrons made up a new particle
but it was never confirmed. After a few years of study John Chadwick was able to discover the
neutron through unidentified radiation experiments, one experiment in particular caught his eye
Frédéric and Irène Joliot Curie had studied unidentified radiation from beryllium as it hit a paraffin
wax target. This experiment encouraged Chadwick to do some of his own experiments in 1932 which
made him believe that the radiation ejected from beryllium was in fact a neutral particle about the
mass of a proton. He also tried many other targets besides the paraffin wax, these included helium,
nitrogen, and lithium. These experiments led Chadwick to find the the mass of the new particle was
more than the proton, he also found out that the neutrons have no

Example Of Experiential Learning
For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them. ― Aristotle, The
Nicomachean Ethics. Experiential learning is more than watching a teacher in the classroom; it is
learning about the passion of education and how to provide students with the tools and inspiration they
need to excel. During my experiential learning, I was in three different classrooms: kindergarten, first
grade, and second grade. Each classroom was arranged differently to accommodate the students, the
kindergarten classroom was arranged more like a Montessori classroom with activities on shelves. The
first grade classroom was traditional style with a large carpet for whole group discussion and grouped
desks for collaborative and individual work. The second grade classroom was also traditional style
with the addition of flexible seating, as well as a large carpet for who group learning. In the
kindergarten classroom, they focused on sight words and forming sentences. The first grade classroom
mainly consisted of learning about living things and how animals use their structures to get food, as
well as individual time for handwriting. The second grade classroom worked mostly on the expanded
form of numbers and finding more than one solution to solve a problem, as well as practicing math
facts, time, and spelling/writing narratives. The majority of students in all the classrooms were
achieving at or above grade level. The students that I worked with in kindergarten were having

Criticism of G.E. Moore´s Proof of an External World
If the sceptic is right, the I do not know I have hands.
I know I have hands
Therefore, the sceptic is wrong.
The argument was first put forward by G.E Moor in Proof Of An External World . Although the
argument seems simple at first, its strength makes itself apparent in the attempts to offer rebbutals.
Although Moore has not succeeded in proving that we have knowledge of an external world, he has
shown that believing such a thing over the sceptics alternate position is less questionable. First I will
try to outline both the sceptical view and Moore s argument and then turn to some criticisms of Moore
s argument, I will conclude with an appeal to a non naive view of common sense.
The sceptical argument is that we cannot have knowledge of an external world, if we cannot have
knowledge of any of the particular aspects of the the external world. For instance I cannot know that I
have hands, because there is always a plausible alternative which negates the truth value of the the fact
that I have hands, and therefore the sceptic is right in asserting that we cannot know anything about
the external world. The thought experiment often used, is that we are a brain in a vat hooked up to
machine, which makes us believe all sorts of false informationa including the fact that we have hands.
Moore s response is to just negate the truth value of the second premis of the sceptics argument we
don t know we have hands and in the process denying that the thought experiment has any

Brontosaurus Research Paper
The Brontosaurus as Marsh envisioned him: wrong head, wrong name, and wrong lifestyle. The
Brontosaurus is an interesting dinosaur because of it s appearance, background, and habitat. The huge
long necked dinosaur looked, lived, and ate like no other dinosaur. An average adult is 20 25 meters
long, and weighs about 30,000 35,000 kilos. The Brontosaurus has a hunched appearance due to his
forelegs being shorter than the hind legs. It s long neck is flexible, and has a downward inclination, to
balance out the huge tail that is thick on the top, and skinny on the bottom. Scientist originally thought
that they lived in water or in swampy areas due to the nostril slits on the top of the head, but it was

Wages of Crime by R. T Naylor
Introduction:
Wages of Crime: Black Markets, Illegal Finance, and the Underworld Economy is a book by R. T.
Naylor based on his views of organized crime and the government s stance and involvement. Naylor
writes from a mostly democratic point of view and presents his thesis quite clearly. Naylor s thesis in
this book is that organized crime is a convenient myth handed to society by the government. In this
book Naylor sets up four important concepts: first on the black market operations of guerrilla groups,
second on the modern arms market, then on money laundering, and finally the underworld trade in
gold. Throughout the book he talks about the critique of the public perceptions of organized crime, a
discussion of anti money laundering policies, and an analysis of terrorist financing.
Summery
At the start of his second chapter Naylor sets up the difference between the motives of insurgent
groups versus criminal groups. Naylor claims Criminals commit economic crimes to make money.
(pg. 45) and that is where motivation ends for them. The difference between insurgent groups is,
money is merely a tool one that is necessary but not sufficient to achieve. Like the formally
constituted governments they challenge, insurgent groups have political programs...they have control
over armed forces, and they directly compete with the state for territory, population, and resources.
(pg. 45) A parallel economy is then created by the guerrilla groups to supply the population with what

Impact of Global Financial Crisis: (S P 500) Emerging Markets (Bric)
Introduction
The BRIC forms an important economic bloc in the global financial market and it is important to
understand the impact of the stock index. The Brazil Russia, India and china represents almost a
substantial percentage of the world economy and with a total population of about 40 percent. In
addition more than 20 percent of the world s gross domestic product arises from this four economic
bloc countries and it is expected to rise over in future. It is also known to be a sheer potential in the
coming years. It is also foreseen by the UN report on development and sustenance as it is expected
that china is likely to outshine the US economy by 2020 and the BRIC will be one of the G7 by 2032
according to Goldman Sach, 2017. The recent financial simmer evident indicates that these economies
were robust to changes in the economic shocks witnessed between 2000 2010. According to Goldman
Sach, 2017 the report indicates that the contribution of the BRIC to the economy the growth rate in
2007 was approximately over 40% and the growth rate extended to another economy (Aggarwal,

Gymnastics Springboard
The topic of this experiment is to determine which type of gymnastics springboard will give the
highest elevation. There are two types of springboards used in vaulting the traditional springboard and
the air board. Based on research the hypothesis states that if a gymnast jumps on an air board then the
height off the board will be higher than if jumping on a traditional springboard.
To begin with, the vault has been in the Olympics for men since 1896 and for women since 1952. The
vault requires a gymnast to run down a runway, jump on a springboard, and flip over the vault table.
The springboard is a very important piece in the vault. It is made up of a platform and springs and is
used to help get the gymnast up in the air. This experiment was chosen to determine if one type of
springboard gives and advantage over the other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the traditional and air springboards are widely used and sanctioned by USAG guidelines. The
traditional springboard uses up to six vertical springs while the air board uses up to 40 horizontal
springs. Gymnasts appear to defy gravity when they are doing their flips but it is really physics and
Newton s 3rd Law in action. When a gymnast jumps on a springboard the springs compress and then
decompress pushing the gymnast into the air. This is an example of Newton s 3rd Law of Motion
which states that every action has an equal but opposite reaction (tackk.com/c003hs). Before the
gymnast jumps on the springboard the board and springs have potential energy. When the gymnast
jumps on the springboard it turns into kinetic energy and causes the board to push the gymnast up. The
larger number of springs in the air board have more potential energy which leads to the hypothesis that
it will provide the greatest

Article Analysis
An introduction to the study that provides an overview of the issues studied and discussed: The study
of The Relationship of Sugar to Population Level Diabetes Prevalence: An Econometric Analysis of
Repeated Cross Sectional Data , revolves around the effects of sugar consumption on diabetes. It is
said that the rise in diabetes is mostly due to type 2 diabetes that lead to hypertension, insulin
resistance, and dyslipidemia. But it is unclear whether the prevalence of type 2 diabetes is determined
by the amount of sugar being consumed. While studies have shown that sugar plays an independent
role in obesity, obesity doesn t cause diabetes. Some countries have a large population with diabetes
but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But an increase of sugar availability of 150 kcal/person/day resulted in a rise of 1.1% in diabetes
prevalence. From the cross national model of diabetes prevalence from 2000 to 2010, there has been
an overall increase of diabetes by 27% on average, with one fourth of the results accounted by an
increase of sugar availability. The Gross Domestic Product coefficient also played a role in that a 1%
increase in GDP resulted in a 1.07% increase in diabetes prevalence. This goes to show that economic
development is an important factor in the prevalence of diabetes. Findings further showed that sugar
significantly correlated with the prevalence of diabetes but the effects of sugar was independent on the
total calorie consumption and obesity. When the obesity factor was unaccounted for, the effect of
sugar was not drastically changed, which shows that obesity remains independent on sugar s impact

Supraventricular Tachycardi A Case Study
Supraventricular Tachycardia The heart is a muscular pump about the size of a fist. This muscle is
continuously pumping blood to the circulatory system at a rate on average of 100,000 times a day.
Arrhythmia s can cause an abnormal rhythm to this rate because of a change in the heart s electrical
system. These arrhythmias can either cause the heart to beat too slowly, bradycardia, or tachycardia,
where the heart beats too fast. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) is one specific form of tachycardia.
When a person develops SVT it causes the heart tissue to develop activity similar to a pacemaker in
the upper chambers, or the region above the ventricles (AHA, 2015). This produces an abnormally fast
heartbeat. Understanding this condition is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Short term treatment can include the use of vagal maneuvers. If these are not successful at halting or
slowing the abnormal rhythm then calcium channel or beta blockers may be used. Long term
treatment can include agents that block the atrioventricular node or class IC or III antiarrhythmics.
Procainamide, ibutilide, flecainide, propafenone, and amiodarone can all be used to control the rhythm
in patients (Carnell, J., Amandeep, S., 2008). For those patients that experience persistent episodes of
SVT can have a catheter ablation procedure (Colucci, R et. al., 2010). A catheter ablation is a low risk
procedure with a 90% success rate. This procedure uses radiofrequency heat in order to kill the area of
the heart in which the irregular heartbeat is originating. The purpose of killing this area is to resort the
heart back to its original rhythm. With this procedure, the abnormal tissue can be destroyed without
causing any other damage to the heart. A doctor performs the catheter ablation by placing a sheath into
the groin. The sheath is then filled with electrode catheters. Through these catheters, the doctor is able
to send small electrical impulses, which helps locate the damaged tissue. Once the abnormal tissue is
located the catheter is placed in that spot so that the radiofrequency can be sent into the tissue. This
area is usually 1/5 of an inch (AMA, 2015). After the catheter ablation procedure, all of the abnormal
tissue should be repaired and the patient should not experience anymore SVT episodes. They are then
also able to return to normal daily activities within a few

1. Suppose the price of coffee beans increases by $0.20 per pound. What is the effect of this raw
material price increase on the demand for roasted coffee? If one pound produces 50 cups of coffee,
would the price of a cup of coffee rising by $0.01? Explain.
Price of the product comes from the production of the goods all the way till it hits the market shelf. So
when the price of the product like coffee increases during the productivity of the product then the end
cost could increase too. Changes of the productivity can increase by changes in technology and human

For companies that lower the price it s okay for them to increase the prices wants the economy is back
to a recovery state. Consumers will not hold it against the company for increases the prices because
they know that when times get tough they will do what they can to help each customer out by
lowering the prices again.
Companies slashing prices to maintain a marker share is okay because they will do what they can to
stay ahead of the competition. Market shares are a part of the company s financial support. When
customers by the shares in a company they are investing in that company for the long haul and hoping
to make some extra money along the way. When they lower prices it draws customers to their
company name because they want to get a better deal then they possible are at the company they at.
On the flip side is that a company lowering their prices could mean that they have increased the price
because they want to get more profits. This could cause concern by customers that the company has
more room to move the price down because they have just increased it over time because they wanted
profits and might not know what the bottom price really is.

The Longitudinal Layer
The longitudinal layer is 2.5 mm thick and the thickness decreases with age. Cranially the layer is
predominantly muscular while fibro elastic caudally. The fibro elastic tissue of the longitudinal layer
is continuous with the fibro elastic network outside the sphincter to the perianal skin to form the
corrugator cutis ani, thereby forming an intra sphincteric fibro elastic network passing through the
external sphincter(Stoker, 2009).
External anal sphincter The external sphincter is a cylindrical striated muscle under voluntary control
and comprises predominantly slow twitch muscle fibres, capable of prolonged contraction. With age
there is a shift towards more type II (rapid) fibres (Cni, 1993). The external sphincter has a nerve
supply by the inferior rectal branch of the pudendal nerve (S2, S3) and the perineal branch of the
fourth sacral nerve (S4). Primary function is closure of the anal canal to postpone evacuation,
regulation is partly reflex (e.g., sudden increase in abdominal pressure) and partly voluntary through
the visceral and somatic afferent and somatic efferent nerves. The external sphincter also contributes
to some extent to the anal resting tone. The external sphincter constitutes the inferior outer aspect of
the anal sphincter and envelops the inter sphincteric space . The external sphincter is approximately
2.7 cm high, but is anteriorly shorter in women (approximately 1.5 cm) (Rociu et al., 2000). The

Summary Of The Naked Citadel
Confirmation bias is the phenomenon of choosing to accept information that appeals to one s beliefs.
It blinds oneself from another s perspective. It is a cycle that reflects people s lack of open
mindedness. Most Democrats grow up in liberal environments while most Republicans grow up in
conservative environments. These environments affect their political stances, as well as other beliefs
and ideals they have. They then share their beliefs and ideals to those around them and future
generations. These beliefs and ideals we acquire blind us from seeing and understanding another s
perspective. In The Naked Citadel, the admission of a female named Shannon Faulkner into The
Citadel, an all male military college, followed by the immediate retraction of the admission lead Susan
Faludi to investigate the college. After observing the mannerisms of the cadets in the college, Faludi
exposes their cruel and sexist ideals in an effort to push her readers to have similar impressions of The
Citadel, a sexist college known for its intense hazing. In another essay, Selections from Losing Matt
Shepard, Beth Loffreda describes the media filled aftermath of a young gay male was beaten and left
for dead by two of the town s residents. What is not directly stated, yet clearly present, are the authors
viewpoint on the matters. Both authors try manipulating their point of views into the minds of their
readers. Media persuades the public to pay attention to the stories they want to portray,

Cyber security threats change quickly as Internet increases, and also the related dangers are getting to

If you live in Milwaukee, WI the rules for being eligible for supplemental social security income are
the same as if you lived anywhere else in the nation. In the majority of cases, the rule is that you
cannot receive Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
at the same time. Only very rare cases get approval for concurrent benefits. To receive both the SSDI
and SSI benefits at the same time, you must first be approved for Social security disability insurance
and your monthly payments must be on the low side. There are several reasons why some people may
have low SSDI monthly payments. These include: 1. You may not have been gainfully employed or

For applicants who are blind, the monthly SGA amount for 2018 is $1970. For applicants who have a
medical impairment other than blindness, the monthly SGA amount for 2018 is $1180. When you
apply for Social security insurance, all your countable income sources will be evaluated to determine
if you meet the requirements. The countable income in general consists of all the earned income as
well as all the unearned income. When you get SSDI benefits, this money is considered to be unearned
income. However, you should be fully aware that any money you earn should not exceed the
minimum as specified by the social security insurance program. If you are earning SSDI more than
your SSI, then you will not get the latter. In the State of Wisconsin, the limit set by SSI on unearned
income is $710 per month. If you exceed that, you will not be a candidate for SSI. Being eligible for
SSI is not as simple as you would imagine. There is a significant amount of documentation required
and the agency requires a great deal of information to determine your eligibility. They will look at
both your earned and unearned income when determining your financial need as well as any other
money that you may have access to through other sources and your assets. .The SSI program has a
monthly income limit and it also has a limit on total available assets. In Milwaukee, the total asset
limits are $3,000 for married couples and $2,000 for single people. If your

The Common Definition Of A Memorandum
The common definition for a memorandum is a written document recorded for future use, something
one can use in the present to see the message behind past actions. This Memorandum on Colonizing
New France speaks of the plans in which the French intended to pursue their new land. Although we
are not given any specific author we are able to decipher that this writer was in close proximity to the
colony of New France. This shows us major insight into the mindset these newcomers had and more
importantly, shows us the way they viewed the inhabitants and their land. Thus making this a very
useful source when deciding if the French truly had good intentions.
Through the piece, we hear things such as what to do with the land and the people already there. Being
that there were many inhabitants who already were merged with the French culture we could tell that
the main focus was the land and the native s children. As this document was published in 1663 most of
these plans were more so simply ideas or propositions for the upcoming future. But that does not
decrease the value of this piece as we can detect disrespect through the way they speak of the land.
Between paragraph two and three the discussion of how poor the area is for agriculture arises, as well
as describing the process towards clearing the land. With how dense the land in New France was with
the forestry it caused long, cold winters and frozen land to last longer than average. With hopes of
clearing the forests, the sun

something bad to me. So are you going to protect us? (52:43) Peter didn t do anything; however, the
librarian by witnessing his abnormal behavior and finding out about his schizophrenia adapts her
experience to something that could have been dangerous. Similar to how Hacking expects
classificatory looping to work on those classified. She had an incomplete perception of the events and
took his actions to be part of his irrationality, instead of Peter s attempt to find his daughter and stop
the radio noises in his head.
Throughout the movie, we see Peter as this schizophrenic doing irrational things like cutting his head
and nail. Peter barely talks so the audience can only perceive him through these irrational actions.
With this, the audience is left to interpret the parallel killings as Peter s work. It is only when Peter is
with his daughter that he talks freely about his delusions and the audience starts seeing Peter as a
rational human. (62:34) It is during his interaction with Nicole that there are no background noises,
irrational behavior or delusions. The audience sees only an awkward father trying to connect with his
daughter. It is during this moment that the audience starts seeing Peter as a human, suffering with
Schizophrenia and the pain of separation between him

A Litany Poem
You know those memories that never seem to go away like the ones that you look back on for the
laughs, midnight memories, or the stories that you will tell your children. Unfortunately, not all
memories are that happy. In the poem, A Litany , Gregory Orr is recalling the day that he accidentally
shot his brother when they were both children. The poem portrays a time of great sadness that Orr
wants to share with the world as a way to cope and to speak to others who have had significant death
experiences. In his poem, Gregory Orr utilizes poetic elements to show that one event can change one
s life for forever. Orr uses imagery to show the reader that events can mentally scar one s memory, in
which a person vividly remembers that moment perfectly. To do this Orr uses lots of descriptive words
and phrases that bring the reader to visualize the scene of the poem. An example is, the dark stain
already seeping across his parka hood (2). The speaker has this image implanted in his mind, because
it is the first thing that he sees right after he has shot his brother. As one reads this line, they can
picture the image of blood seeping through the material of the hood in their mind, making them feel as
if they are standing there with him. In addition, Orr uses the imagery of death throughout the poem.
By writing, In the bowl, among the vegetable chunks / pale shapes of the alphabet bobbed at random
or lay in the shallow spoon (15 17). The speaker is visualizing the pale deceased

McQuarrie and Mick, 1996) do not adequately capture important differentiations within the visual
domain. After developing and illustrating the typology, we suggest avenues for empirical
investigation, specifying the particular cognitive processes that we expect to be differentially affected
by different categories of visual rhetorical figures. Among the more important contributions of the
typology is its demonstration of how concepts from art theory, semiotics and kindred disciplines can
be linked to concepts drawn from social cognition in a manner susceptible to empirical study.
A typology of visual rhetorical figures
Defining visual rhetoric in ads
We follow McQuarrie and Mick (1996) in defining a rhetorical figure as an artful deviation in form
that adheres to an identifiable template. Thus, the headline Can t say no to pistachio is a rhetorical
figure because it deviates in its arrangement of sounds from an ordinary sentence. However, readers
do not consider this deviation to be an error because they have encountered this kind of repetition of
syllables many times and have learned to treat it as a rhyme. Similarly, when readers encounter the
verbal pun Why weight for success? in an ad for the Diet Center, they understand it as a play on a
word with two meanings (i.e. weight and wait ). Because the number of templates is limited and
because consumers encounter the same template over

The Strategic Board Game Strategy
The strategic board game, Diplomacy, focuses on wars, but more importantly the act of negotiating.
The players are responsible for forming strategies by both developing and breaking alliances with
their competitors. The game is set in Europe during World War I with most teams beginning with
similar resources. Each player team competes as an either Austria Hungary, Turkey, Italy, England,
France, Russia, or Germany. With at least three home center game pieces on the board, there are
strategic movements in order to control one of the eighteen supply centers. This involves phases of
negotiation prior to movement of the game piece. There is no factor of luck. The main variable in the
game is each team s ability to convince the others to do what they want. The core game strategy is
negotiation. This board game at times mirrors actual history and educates the players as to the method
by which a world war can happen. Both in the game and in actual life, everyone is envious of England
because of its location and resources as well as having a developed army. Russia Germany and France
are potential threats. Many of the alliances that occurred during World War I did not actually happen
in our game of Diplomacy. There were several shocking twists and turns. In our game, Italy and
Russia stayed rather benign and non engaging. They moved some pieces out of their countries;
however, they primarily just protected their home countries. Germany, just as in a real life map, is

Aboriginal Women are Oppressed in Society Essay
Throughout history, women have been the victims of oppression in society. In specific, Aboriginal
women have suffered through racism, sexism, domestic violence, and over representation. Through
the implementation of the Indian Act, Aboriginal women have been forced to abandon their culture in
order to assimilate into Canadian society. The effects of colonization has changed the way Aboriginal
women are treated; emotionally and physically, and therefore are the source of oppression today.
The Indian Act was created under the provisions section 91 of the Constitution Act of 1867 (Moss,
1990). The act was implemented to define who an Indian is and the rights that come with the title.
These rights pertain to status, bands and reserves for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Treaty benefits, health, rights to living on the reserve and property are forfeited as a result of losing
Indian status. This also happens when an Indian women gets married to another Indian man. She loses
her rights to her own band, and has to become a member of her husband s band. Ultimately, if the
women becomes widowed or abandoned then she loses all status of being an Indian all together. On
the other hand, men can marry a non status woman and all of his rights would be kept. With strides of
equality throughout history, it takes a step back when Aboriginal women are entirely dependent of
their husband. Several cases were took to court in the 1970 s, but not until 1980 is when there was a
connection found between the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Canadian Human
Rights Act. With this section in direct violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political
Rights, the removal of a woman s Indian status while marrying a non Indian man was done and Bill C
31 was passed so victims of the Indian Act can be reimbursed. However, Bill C 31 is still under
scrutiny because those who have their status reinstated to them can only pass it on for one generation.
This is a violation under Section 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Payne, 1992). The Indian
Act is a controversial piece of legislation that was passed in 1876. It has been amended throughout the
times, but the core concept of the Indian Act still

Self-Identity In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Self identity, this is a word that is sewn into the fibers of our very being, but in all reality the true
definition is unknown. This word means the complete opposite of whatever the world has decided for
the meaning, because quite frankly in the end self identity does not revolve around any one self , but
the contrary but works to benefit the masses. Once one discovers who they are they are able to find
their gifts to bless others live and potentially bless them with the gift of identifying themselves. When
we discover ourselves this only leads to discoveries that can provide help or assistance to the world
and other individuals. In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand it is taught by the main character that you
must discover yourself and identify your strengths and weaknesses so that you may prove to the world
that you are beneficial. We learn of a male, the age is unknown, who is looked down upon by his
fellow men who believe that people with intelligence are undesirable and a burden to the rest of the
population. Throughout the book this boy grows though his brain and curiosity grew quicker. So he
was breaking rules and laws left and right. It was then when he discovered that his brain was able to ...

But even the slightest differences in all of these define and shape every personality that crawls the
earth today. It is our differences that make us great. Kurt Vonnegut perfectly depicts how we should
praise others for their differences and build them, rather degrade them for their strengths. In Vonnegut
s short story Harrison Bergeron we see the consequences of destroying what makes people into a
someone. In this story the smart and intelligent thinkers, the strong, authentic, graceful, tall, and
beautiful were all put down and disable to prevent any to feel like they were greater than the other.

Review of the 2005 Film version of Pride and Prejudice Essay
For any great reader, it is known that the book is always better than the movie. Try as they may,
moviemakers can never fully capture the author s magic from the original text. I am happy to say that
this is not the case in the 2005 movie version of Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen was a fabulous
writer and her novels have captured the attention of booklovers for centuries. The screenwriter,
Deborah Moggach, takes Austen s slightly rambling story and polishes it up and makes it easy for
modern day people to understand.
In the days when fathers were forbidden, by law, to leave property to their daughters, two sisters,
Elizabeth and Jane Bennet are being pressured to marry rich gentlemen. It is luck then, which brings
two such young men, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through a series of misunderstandings, Jane and Charles are separated at the great dismay of the
whole family. The main focus however, is Elizabeth and whom she chooses to marry. Many
undercurrents and sub plots occur in the story. And with a house full of girls, how could it be
different?
The costume and set designs in the movie are astoundingly realistic. Instead of looking like costumes
and sets, the clothing looks like things a person would have worn or lived in during that period of
time. While other versions of this same novel have elaborate costumes and fancy clothes, the costumes
in the 2005 version are much simpler, which makes it seem much more real. Most of the filming took
place in locations which were around when the novel was written, which eliminates the modernism of
the movie. Unspoiled beauty was the order of the day in this version of Pride and Prejudice.
Kiera Knightly, who played Elizabeth Bennet, could also be described as an unspoiled beauty. Her
acting is superb without being overly perfect. Other wonderful actors include Mathew Macfayden,
Rosamund Pike, and Simon Woods as Darcy, Jane and Bingly, respectively. Throughout the whole
film, an impression of not trying too hard is given off, which keeps it fresh, and the acting is no
different. The actors know who their roles are and played them as real people, not dramatic overdone
characters.
All in all, the plot,

Known as the Lesser Panda and Fire Fox, the Red Panda was first record in a 13th century Chou
dynasty scroll. It was only introduced to Europe by Thomas Hardwicke in 1821. The Red Panda is
approximately the same size of a racoon, except that it has a reddish brown fur coat. The red panda
weighs 7 to 13 lb, and is 50 to 66 cm long. As well it has a distinctive long bushy striped tail. In 1994,
it was established that the Red Panda population was vulnerable ( 10,000 individuals); however,

  • 2. Origin Of Forensic Science Essay ORIGIN AND SERVICES OF FORENSIC SCIENCE For most people, forensic science means cops and fingerprints and DNA analysis. All of that is still true, but these days forensic science encompasses much more. Forensic science, also known as forensics, may generally be defined as the application of scientific, technical, or other specialized knowledge to assist courts in resolving questions of fact in civil and criminal trials. In other words forensic science, in its broadest definition, is the application of science to law. Forensic science is carried out by forensic scientists, whose primary objective is the even handed use of all the available information to determine the facts and ultimately the truth no matter who they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when a car hits another car, paint from the first car will be deposited on the second one and vice versa. Similarly, when somebody sits on a chair, fibers from his/her clothing will be deposited on the chair and fibers from the cloth of the chair will be deposited on the person s clothing. Although there are different people that can be cited for the start of forensics, many people still believe that you can solve a case over night like how it s shown on television. Many people like all the forensic scientist has to do is collect small evidences and presso the case it solved but their job is much harder in real life then television. A lot of the information seen on television is misleading because forensic scientists are involved in all aspects of criminal and civil cases as well as among others, the family courts, immigration and employment tribunals and the results of their work may serve either the prosecution, defense or either side in a hearing as well as acting more recently as a single joint expert. Forensic science and the work of the forensic scientist does have an impact on the number of cases entering our legal system by assisting the decision makers before a case reaches the court, as the facts developed by the forensic scientist are based on scientific investigation which may convince the prosecution team that the case does not merit a ... Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, or Erythematous, also known as SLE, is a chronic inflammatory, autoimmune disease that transpires when the body s own immune system assaults, with variable manifestations , it s own tissues and organ systems throughout the itself1,2,3. This can also include joints, heart, lungs, skin, brain, blood cells, etc1. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is known to have an impact on the organ network involved with immune complexes and multiple antibodies, especially antinuclear antibodies, or ANAs, an abnormal antibody that is targeted to cause certain edemas throughout the body and different tissues4. Like lightning or tiger stripes, no two diagnoses of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus are exactly alike. Some signs and symptoms might be mild, while others could be more severe, occurring suddenly or possibly developing slowly over time1. Cases of SLE could be a permanent fixture in an individual s life, or could be temporary, decreasing in occurrence or symptoms in women during and after menopause1. Fatigue is one of the more common signs and symptoms in close to 80% of the cases reported, which in turn leads to decreased physical activity and subsequently a lessened ability to execute activities of daily living because of the decline of isometric strenght2,4. Because of the fatigue and having lower dynamic muscle strength , impeded career opportunities, a lessened quality of life, and capabilities of a low functional performance, many patients find ... • 4. James Chadwick Research Paper Just In! James Chadwick Has Discovered The Neutron! It was a great day in May of 1932 and when we finally received answers to the other particle in the nucleus. After many years of questions and theories; one man James Chadwick has discovered a new uncharged particle, the neutron. Chadwick had been studying to find this particle since 1914 in Germany with Hans Geiger, unfortunately due to World War I he was arrested and his studies were put on halt. Although he was in prison he was still able to do some scientific studies after creating a science club with some fellow prisoners; and convincing the guards to allow them to have a lab. Eventually he was released and return to England where he earned his PhD at Cambridge with Ernest Rutherford. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This information has not always been know to man though. Thankfully scientist such as J.J Thompson, Ernest Rutherford, and James Chadwick were able to perform experiments to shed more light on what the atom was made of. The electron was first found in 1897 by J.J Thompson; shortly after in 1911 the nucleus was discovered by Rutherford, leading to him later discovering the proton in 1919. Before James Chadwick discovered the neutron many scientists believed that there were additional protons in the nucleus, along with the equal number of electrons to cancel out the additional charge. Then in 1920 Rutherford thought that the protons plus the electrons made up a new particle but it was never confirmed. After a few years of study John Chadwick was able to discover the neutron through unidentified radiation experiments, one experiment in particular caught his eye Frédéric and Irène Joliot Curie had studied unidentified radiation from beryllium as it hit a paraffin wax target. This experiment encouraged Chadwick to do some of his own experiments in 1932 which made him believe that the radiation ejected from beryllium was in fact a neutral particle about the mass of a proton. He also tried many other targets besides the paraffin wax, these included helium, nitrogen, and lithium. These experiments led Chadwick to find the the mass of the new particle was more than the proton, he also found out that the neutrons have no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Example Of Experiential Learning For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them. ― Aristotle, The Nicomachean Ethics. Experiential learning is more than watching a teacher in the classroom; it is learning about the passion of education and how to provide students with the tools and inspiration they need to excel. During my experiential learning, I was in three different classrooms: kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. Each classroom was arranged differently to accommodate the students, the kindergarten classroom was arranged more like a Montessori classroom with activities on shelves. The first grade classroom was traditional style with a large carpet for whole group discussion and grouped desks for collaborative and individual work. The second grade classroom was also traditional style with the addition of flexible seating, as well as a large carpet for who group learning. In the kindergarten classroom, they focused on sight words and forming sentences. The first grade classroom mainly consisted of learning about living things and how animals use their structures to get food, as well as individual time for handwriting. The second grade classroom worked mostly on the expanded form of numbers and finding more than one solution to solve a problem, as well as practicing math facts, time, and spelling/writing narratives. The majority of students in all the classrooms were achieving at or above grade level. The students that I worked with in kindergarten were having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Criticism of G.E. Moore´s Proof of an External World If the sceptic is right, the I do not know I have hands. I know I have hands Therefore, the sceptic is wrong. The argument was first put forward by G.E Moor in Proof Of An External World . Although the argument seems simple at first, its strength makes itself apparent in the attempts to offer rebbutals. Although Moore has not succeeded in proving that we have knowledge of an external world, he has shown that believing such a thing over the sceptics alternate position is less questionable. First I will try to outline both the sceptical view and Moore s argument and then turn to some criticisms of Moore s argument, I will conclude with an appeal to a non naive view of common sense. The sceptical argument is that we cannot have knowledge of an external world, if we cannot have knowledge of any of the particular aspects of the the external world. For instance I cannot know that I have hands, because there is always a plausible alternative which negates the truth value of the the fact that I have hands, and therefore the sceptic is right in asserting that we cannot know anything about the external world. The thought experiment often used, is that we are a brain in a vat hooked up to machine, which makes us believe all sorts of false informationa including the fact that we have hands. Moore s response is to just negate the truth value of the second premis of the sceptics argument we don t know we have hands and in the process denying that the thought experiment has any ... • 9. Wages of Crime by R. T Naylor Introduction: Wages of Crime: Black Markets, Illegal Finance, and the Underworld Economy is a book by R. T. Naylor based on his views of organized crime and the government s stance and involvement. Naylor writes from a mostly democratic point of view and presents his thesis quite clearly. Naylor s thesis in this book is that organized crime is a convenient myth handed to society by the government. In this book Naylor sets up four important concepts: first on the black market operations of guerrilla groups, second on the modern arms market, then on money laundering, and finally the underworld trade in gold. Throughout the book he talks about the critique of the public perceptions of organized crime, a discussion of anti money laundering policies, and an analysis of terrorist financing. Summery At the start of his second chapter Naylor sets up the difference between the motives of insurgent groups versus criminal groups. Naylor claims Criminals commit economic crimes to make money. (pg. 45) and that is where motivation ends for them. The difference between insurgent groups is, money is merely a tool one that is necessary but not sufficient to achieve. Like the formally constituted governments they challenge, insurgent groups have political programs...they have control over armed forces, and they directly compete with the state for territory, population, and resources. (pg. 45) A parallel economy is then created by the guerrilla groups to supply the population with what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Gymnastics Springboard The topic of this experiment is to determine which type of gymnastics springboard will give the highest elevation. There are two types of springboards used in vaulting the traditional springboard and the air board. Based on research the hypothesis states that if a gymnast jumps on an air board then the height off the board will be higher than if jumping on a traditional springboard. To begin with, the vault has been in the Olympics for men since 1896 and for women since 1952. The vault requires a gymnast to run down a runway, jump on a springboard, and flip over the vault table. The springboard is a very important piece in the vault. It is made up of a platform and springs and is used to help get the gymnast up in the air. This experiment was chosen to determine if one type of springboard gives and advantage over the other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the traditional and air springboards are widely used and sanctioned by USAG guidelines. The traditional springboard uses up to six vertical springs while the air board uses up to 40 horizontal springs. Gymnasts appear to defy gravity when they are doing their flips but it is really physics and Newton s 3rd Law in action. When a gymnast jumps on a springboard the springs compress and then decompress pushing the gymnast into the air. This is an example of Newton s 3rd Law of Motion which states that every action has an equal but opposite reaction (tackk.com/c003hs). Before the gymnast jumps on the springboard the board and springs have potential energy. When the gymnast jumps on the springboard it turns into kinetic energy and causes the board to push the gymnast up. Population-Level Diabetes Cory Fung Biol 045 11/14/16 Article Analysis An introduction to the study that provides an overview of the issues studied and discussed: The study of The Relationship of Sugar to Population Level Diabetes Prevalence: An Econometric Analysis of Repeated Cross Sectional Data , revolves around the effects of sugar consumption on diabetes. It is said that the rise in diabetes is mostly due to type 2 diabetes that lead to hypertension, insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia. But it is unclear whether the prevalence of type 2 diabetes is determined by the amount of sugar being consumed. While studies have shown that sugar plays an independent role in obesity, obesity doesn t cause diabetes. Some countries have a large population with diabetes but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But an increase of sugar availability of 150 kcal/person/day resulted in a rise of 1.1% in diabetes prevalence. From the cross national model of diabetes prevalence from 2000 to 2010, there has been an overall increase of diabetes by 27% on average, with one fourth of the results accounted by an increase of sugar availability. The Gross Domestic Product coefficient also played a role in that a 1% increase in GDP resulted in a 1.07% increase in diabetes prevalence. This goes to show that economic development is an important factor in the prevalence of diabetes. Findings further showed that sugar significantly correlated with the prevalence of diabetes but the effects of sugar was independent on the total calorie consumption and obesity. When the obesity factor was unaccounted for, the effect of sugar was not drastically changed, which shows that obesity remains independent on sugar s impact on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Supraventricular Tachycardi A Case Study Supraventricular Tachycardia The heart is a muscular pump about the size of a fist. This muscle is continuously pumping blood to the circulatory system at a rate on average of 100,000 times a day. Arrhythmia s can cause an abnormal rhythm to this rate because of a change in the heart s electrical system. These arrhythmias can either cause the heart to beat too slowly, bradycardia, or tachycardia, where the heart beats too fast. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) is one specific form of tachycardia. When a person develops SVT it causes the heart tissue to develop activity similar to a pacemaker in the upper chambers, or the region above the ventricles (AHA, 2015). This produces an abnormally fast heartbeat. Understanding this condition is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Short term treatment can include the use of vagal maneuvers. If these are not successful at halting or slowing the abnormal rhythm then calcium channel or beta blockers may be used. Long term treatment can include agents that block the atrioventricular node or class IC or III antiarrhythmics. Procainamide, ibutilide, flecainide, propafenone, and amiodarone can all be used to control the rhythm in patients (Carnell, J., Amandeep, S., 2008). For those patients that experience persistent episodes of SVT can have a catheter ablation procedure (Colucci, R et. al., 2010). A catheter ablation is a low risk procedure with a 90% success rate. This procedure uses radiofrequency heat in order to kill the area of the heart in which the irregular heartbeat is originating. The purpose of killing this area is to resort the heart back to its original rhythm. With this procedure, the abnormal tissue can be destroyed without causing any other damage to the heart. A doctor performs the catheter ablation by placing a sheath into the groin. The sheath is then filled with electrode catheters. Through these catheters, the doctor is able to send small electrical impulses, which helps locate the damaged tissue. Once the abnormal tissue is located the catheter is placed in that spot so that the radiofrequency can be sent into the tissue. This area is usually 1/5 of an inch (AMA, 2015). After the catheter ablation procedure, all of the abnormal tissue should be repaired and the patient should not experience anymore SVT episodes. The fibro elastic tissue of the longitudinal layer is continuous with the fibro elastic network outside the sphincter to the perianal skin to form the corrugator cutis ani, thereby forming an intra sphincteric fibro elastic network passing through the external sphincter(Stoker, 2009). External anal sphincter The external sphincter is a cylindrical striated muscle under voluntary control and comprises predominantly slow twitch muscle fibres, capable of prolonged contraction. With age there is a shift towards more type II (rapid) fibres (Cni, 1993). The external sphincter has a nerve supply by the inferior rectal branch of the pudendal nerve (S2, S3) and the perineal branch of the fourth sacral nerve (S4). Primary function is closure of the anal canal to postpone evacuation, regulation is partly reflex (e.g., sudden increase in abdominal pressure) and partly voluntary through the visceral and somatic afferent and somatic efferent nerves. The external sphincter also contributes to some extent to the anal resting tone. The external sphincter constitutes the inferior outer aspect of the anal sphincter and envelops the inter sphincteric space . • 18. Summary Of The Naked Citadel Confirmation bias is the phenomenon of choosing to accept information that appeals to one s beliefs. It blinds oneself from another s perspective. It is a cycle that reflects people s lack of open mindedness. Most Democrats grow up in liberal environments while most Republicans grow up in conservative environments. These environments affect their political stances, as well as other beliefs and ideals they have. They then share their beliefs and ideals to those around them and future generations. These beliefs and ideals we acquire blind us from seeing and understanding another s perspective. In The Naked Citadel, the admission of a female named Shannon Faulkner into The Citadel, an all male military college, followed by the immediate retraction of the admission lead Susan Faludi to investigate the college. After observing the mannerisms of the cadets in the college, Faludi exposes their cruel and sexist ideals in an effort to push her readers to have similar impressions of The Citadel, a sexist college known for its intense hazing. • 21. The Common Definition Of A Memorandum The common definition for a memorandum is a written document recorded for future use, something one can use in the present to see the message behind past actions. This Memorandum on Colonizing New France speaks of the plans in which the French intended to pursue their new land. Although we are not given any specific author we are able to decipher that this writer was in close proximity to the colony of New France. This shows us major insight into the mindset these newcomers had and more importantly, shows us the way they viewed the inhabitants and their land. Thus making this a very useful source when deciding if the French truly had good intentions. Through the piece, we hear things such as what to do with the land and the people already there. Being that there were many inhabitants who already were merged with the French culture we could tell that the main focus was the land and the native s children. As this document was published in 1663 most of these plans were more so simply ideas or propositions for the upcoming future. But that does not decrease the value of this piece as we can detect disrespect through the way they speak of the land. Between paragraph two and three the discussion of how poor the area is for agriculture arises, as well as describing the process towards clearing the land. With how dense the land in New France was with the forestry it caused long, cold winters and frozen land to last longer than average. With hopes of clearing the forests, the sun ... Unfortunately, not all memories are that happy. In the poem, A Litany , Gregory Orr is recalling the day that he accidentally shot his brother when they were both children. The poem portrays a time of great sadness that Orr wants to share with the world as a way to cope and to speak to others who have had significant death experiences. In his poem, Gregory Orr utilizes poetic elements to show that one event can change one s life for forever. Orr uses imagery to show the reader that events can mentally scar one s memory, in which a person vividly remembers that moment perfectly. To do this Orr uses lots of descriptive words and phrases that bring the reader to visualize the scene of the poem. An example is, the dark stain already seeping across his parka hood (2). The speaker has this image implanted in his mind, because it is the first thing that he sees right after he has shot his brother. As one reads this line, they can picture the image of blood seeping through the material of the hood in their mind, making them feel as if they are standing there with him. After developing and illustrating the typology, we suggest avenues for empirical investigation, specifying the particular cognitive processes that we expect to be differentially affected by different categories of visual rhetorical figures. A typology of visual rhetorical figures Defining visual rhetoric in ads We follow McQuarrie and Mick (1996) in defining a rhetorical figure as an artful deviation in form that adheres to an identifiable template. Thus, the headline Can t say no to pistachio is a rhetorical figure because it deviates in its arrangement of sounds from an ordinary sentence. However, readers do not consider this deviation to be an error because they have encountered this kind of repetition of syllables many times and have learned to treat it as a rhyme. With at least three home center game pieces on the board, there are strategic movements in order to control one of the eighteen supply centers. Try as they may, moviemakers can never fully capture the author s magic from the original text. I am happy to say that this is not the case in the 2005 movie version of Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen was a fabulous writer and her novels have captured the attention of booklovers for centuries. The screenwriter, Deborah Moggach, takes Austen s slightly rambling story and polishes it up and makes it easy for modern day people to understand. Instead of looking like costumes and sets, the clothing looks like things a person would have worn or lived in during that period of time. While other versions of this same novel have elaborate costumes and fancy clothes, the costumes in the 2005 version are much simpler, which makes it seem much more real. Most of the filming took place in locations which were around when the novel was written, which eliminates the modernism of the movie.
