Hitler s Anti Semitic Ideology
To What Extent Did Hitler Grow His Anti Semitic Ideology During His Time in Vienna Adolf Hitler
known as the cruellest Anti Semitic leader in human history and the leader of Nazi German Party, his
cruelness had been proven many times through tragic and unhuman events such Jewish Holocaust.
However the time when Hitler did grow and develop his anti Semitic ideology hasn t been made
certain due to the opposing accounts and evidence in this question. On one side Hitler himself wrote in
autobiography Mein Kampf in which clearly outlined his anti Semitic development during his time in
Vienna, but considering the propaganda nature of this book the reliability of this book needs to be
questioned. On the other side, his respect of his family doctor ... Show more content on

(Hamann, 2015) However by examining the evidence and considering the anti Semitic social
environment in Vienna during 1910s, the accounts in Mein Kampf are reliable. Hence, to a great
extent it was very likely that Hitler became an anti Semite during his time in Vienna. Although, there
are strong indications suggest that Hitler became an anti Semite during his time in Vienna, there is still
evidence that denies Hitler s turn into an anti Semite during his time in

The attack, which occurred on April 19, 1995, destroyed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, a U.S.
office complex in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This attack is considered to be the deadliest
domestic terrorist attack in the history of the United States, and, until September 11, 2001, the
deadliest attack of terrorism within U.S. borders, but not the worst against the U.S. (the worst act of
terrorism against the U.S. before the Oklahoma City bombing was Pam Am Flight 103)
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Oklahoma_City_bombing).
By being the first major American city to suffer a mass casualty terrorist attack, Oklahoma City s
response to the bombing was carefully scrutinized by security experts and law enforcement in the
years following the bombing, and then again following the September 11, 2001 attacks

The effect of the bombing on the city was immense 168 confirmed dead, including 19 children and

Divergent Anti Hero Essay

Ms. Kidd y 03 18 A Female Anti Hero
In the movie Divergent directed by Neil Burger, the central character Beatrice, shows many different
characteristics of being an anti hero. Beatrice Prior otherwise known as Tris is the main protagonist
character and the narrator of the film. She is a strong willed 16 year old who lives in a society divided
into groups called factions, based on individual human virtues. With her coming of age, she must now
choose one of the factions to live in for the rest of her life, Abnegation (selfless), Erudite (intelligent),
Candor (honest), Amity (peaceful) or Dauntless (brave). The definition of an anti hero would be the
main or central character in a story, movie or play who does not ... Show more content on

Tris does this because if the leader found out about her being Divergent, they would kill her so she
does not bend the rules. Tris is disappointed in herself at the beginning of the film because she
believes that she is not worthy of finding a faction and does not know where she belongs in society.
Everyone knows where they belong, except for me (Burger 2014) This is significant to the story
because it lets the viewers have an insight into Tris not being normal and gives us a heads up that she
is different from the rest. The movie lacks foreshadowing, as we are not evident at first of Tris
challenging all of societies beliefs. As the movie unfolds, you can start to put two and two together,
connecting the dots to see that Tris is Divergent, she will not ever fit into any group. She does not
follow the rules, she does not believe what others tell her and she does what she thinks is right and not
what is expected of her.
Signs of anti heroism are also shown in Tris when she is misunderstood by society. Many of times in
the film, you could see the other characters becoming jealous and threatened by Tris because of how
well she does and her she accomplishments. When Tris was in the simulation and finishes in three
minutes, finishing before everyone

Culture is a common ground of group of people sharing ideas, beliefs, values and behaviour which is
not restricted to ethnicity (Fanany, 2012). Australia is one of the most culturally diverse countries
across the world who have their own cultural and social aspects of life. There exist various factors that
influences the health of different cultural groups which includes social gradient, social exclusion,
unemployment and addiction (Wilkinson Mormot, 2003). Among the various cultural and ethnic
groups, this case study highlights the aspects determining the health and its risks in Chinese Australian
and Homeless Australian youths community and the strategies overcoming those risks. It reviews the
literature on the social determinants causing health risks in the specific cultural groups and suggests
the best possible approaches dealing with the health problems associated with them.

Nike And Nike Vs. Nike
Adidas and Nike are two major athletic clothing companies on the market. The two brands are both
commonly worn by athletes. Nike has endorsed some of the top athletes in the world. Take Michael
Jordan for example, Nike created an entire brand off his name, Air Jordan s. Adidas also has multiple
athletes that advertise for them including soccer player David Beckham. The two companies have
been in constant competition with their footwear and apparel for several years. Deciding between the
two brands has always been a challenging process for me. Having had products from both companies,

products for their customers. Through these evaluations, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In contrast, the most popularly sold Nike shoe is for running. This type is usually lightweight and easy

several years and still look new. Many track runners use Nike tennis shoes or may even own a pair of
Nike spikes. Some people even believe that runners who wear Nike tennis shoes in track races have an
unfair advantage. Nike shoes cushioned the feet of all three medalists in the men s marathon at the Rio
Olympics last summer (Jeré Longman). It is no coincidence that athletes continue to purchase Nike
running shoes, and continue to provide the best results when competing.
While Nike s most profitable product is their footwear, they also offer many different types of apparel.
Such as leggings and tank tops for women; for men they have polo s, tee s and socks. They sell all

1. The source characteristics are: credibility, attractiveness, likeability, trustworthiness, and expertise.
Having a spokesperson that is credible is most important because it is a composite of the other
characteristics. The Black Eyed Peas are a very popular band, which makes people more likely to
accept a product that they are endorsing. The Black Eyed Peas serving as a spokesperson would have
the same effect as a celebrity. The Black Eyed Peas are attractive and likeable to most people. Their
music is attractive to both young and older generations, which is something that is very hard to do.
They also are physically attractive and ads with a physically attractive spokesperson do better than a
spokesperson that is less physically attractive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

products like sodas, cars, electronics, phones, fashion, and sports brands. However, country music
artists have a different target market so I believe that they would be best suited to be endorsed by
brands like trucks, guns and hunting gear. 3. If I were going to design a TV ad for the Black Eyed Peas
about an upcoming concert I would make sure to reach more than just one target market. The Black
Eyed Peas are a well known band and have been able to appeal to both young adults and older adults
but not elderly so it is important to create a commercial that will appeal to both as well. As far as the
message strategy, I would use affective message strategy because people already know who they are,
now they need to invoke their fans feelings and emotions to make them feel that they need to go to the
concert. The executional framework I d recommend would be fantasy because you want to be able to
create a commercial that makes them feel that they are actually there. To create this type of effective
ad it would be a good idea to show video from previous concerts then state the dates and locations of

Social Location Assignment
It is typical of me to preface my reflective assignments with my social location so you, the reader, may
better understand my perspective before I begin with the details of the assignment. I do not plan to
reflect on aspects of my social location until I analyze my values, deriving from aspects of my
upbringing. I was born, and raised, in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Treaty Six, in the early era of 1990 s.
In my infancy there were Residential Schools still active and the Sixties Scoop was still in effect
(Niessen, 2017, p. 42). I am from a Ukrainian ancestry, my status was middle class, and I was from a
nuclear family with very loving and supportive parents. The values instilled in me by my upbringing
has influenced my current job as a Youth Care Worker (YCW) for a residential program for youth in
Saskatoon. My responsibilities of this job are to support youth in their holistic health, and most
importantly, maintain their safety. The individuals I work with have had traumatic upbringings and are
vulnerable to be re traumatized with high risk behaviours. High risk behaviours will be defined in this
piece as being drug use, gang affiliation, running, sexual abuse, suicide ideation, and suicidal
behaviours. I work with six girls who I perceive as suffering from generational trauma. Like me, these
girls are influenced by colonialism, and could be confused about their identity. They will often run

Pride And Prejudice Love Essay
In the nineteenth century, the question as to the foundation and purpose of courtship and marriage
emanated. The basis for this analysis was whether relationships should be navigated utilizing emotion
and feeling or reason and logic. The literary work of Regency era author, Jane Austen, details such a
balance, as it endeavors to convey Austen s interpretation of true affection between couples of well
examined intrinsic morality. The characters of Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet in Jane Austen
s Pride and Prejudice contend with the moral vices of pride and prejudice as they overcome
judgements about one another and ultimately experience love.
To begin, Pride and Prejudice s Fitzwilliam Darcy is a wealthy, intelligent, forthright ... Show more

His sense of her inferiority of its being a degradation of the family obstacles which judgment had
always opposed to inclinations were dwelt on... (Austen 12). These words reflect Mr. Darcy s
excessive pride and heightened awareness of social status, while inducing him to recount all the ways
in which he and Elizabeth are an illogical union, rather than relaying anything complimentary. In
response to this insult ridden proposal, Elizabeth proclaims that if he had acted in a more
gentlemanlike manner, she would have been more inclined to express sympathy following her
rejection of his advances. Despite Elizabeth s clear message that she will not observe his insensitive
words in submission, Mr. Darcy endures in the conviction that his prideful manners toward Elizabeth
are well justified and merely detail the truthful, adverse nature of her inferior social standing with the
utmost sincerity.
As Fitzwilliam Darcy combats the moral flaw of pride, Pride and Prejudice s protagonist, Elizabeth
Bennet, grapples with her own character downfalls. Elizabeth is a young woman of clever, astute, and
sharp witted manner. Notwithstanding, her satirical speech and propensity to make impetuous
judgements often blind her as to the unbiased truth of matters. Elizabeth, who deems herself a superior

Mission Command s Framework Of Balancing Command And Control
Mission Command Writing Assignment
Mission command is the Army s framework of balancing command and control though unified land
operations. Mission command sets the foundation of control and applies to all levels of leadership
throughout Army. Mission command allows commanders to utilize mission orders to give direction to
subordinates. Ultimately, it empowers leaders to be adaptive in the face of an ever complex and
changing world. Mission command has a foundation based on trust, understanding and a shared
purpose. Effective commanders use six principals of mission command to influence situations while
developing trust and a shared understanding. These principals are building teams through trust,
creating shared understanding, providing a clear commanders intent, exercising disciplined initiative,
use mission orders, and accept prudent risk. I will be using them as tools during my time as a leader.
In this essay, I will briefly describe what each principal is and how it will affect me as a new junior
lieutenant. Trust is the foundation of the Profession of Arms. Commanders must build cohesive teams
through mutual trust. Commanders need to focus on creating an environment where mutual trust can
flourish and this can be very challenging. Since comes from people, there are really no shortcuts, trust
takes time to build. As a new lieutenant, time will be an incredibly value resource. Time is finite and

The title of this one is: Love is an Undeserving Lesson.
It was as if the room was spinning as I began to read to her from my secret book of poetry.
When I finished, I looked up and waited for a response, but all she did was shed a few tears, reached

I really didn t comprehend what was going on, but this weird feeling took over me and so I began to

She was the only other person I was able to completely confide in since April of 1995.

How Qar Which Stands For Question Answer Relationship
Explain
QAR which stands for Question Answer Relationship. Is a strategy that helps you understand the four
different types of questions that are asked before, during, and after reading. Therefore, knowing how
to answer these questions will help you get more answers correct and help you find the answers faster.
Now, where I can find answers to questions? QAR has two main categories. The first category is in the
text/book: which means that the answers are supplied by the author. The second category is in my
head: which means that the answers are based on the reader s ideas and experiences (prior
knowledge).
Let s look at the four different types of QAR s. So, if you look at your sheet of paper titled the
Question Answer Relationships, you see that there are many boxes. However, we are going to focus
on the top four boxes. The first box labeled Right There is usually the easiest to find in the text/ book
because the answer is found Right There. It is usually found in one or two sentences. The second box
labeled Think and Search is a little harder than the first (Right There). Which means that the answer
will not be found in just one part of the text. It may be in several different sentences throughout the
text/book and you may have to search through the text/book to find the answer. In addition, the reader
has to make assumptions and put the answers that they found linking them together. The third box
labeled Author and Me, this means that you are using the text/book and you

Coming Of Age And Adolescence In The 21st Century
INTRODUCTION
The Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential identifies that the current lack of rites of
passage in modern, industrialised socities is a global problem, resulting in a serious breakdown in the
process of maturing (Grimes 2000) for adolescents moving from childhood to adulthood, specifically.
To move through adolescence in the modern, Western world is a highly individualised experience,
meaning that it differs between each individual person and also that it is a largely solitary process;
coming of age in the 21st century means learning to stand alone as a self sufficient person (Arnett,
1998) who is independently responsible for their own guidance and decision making among a wide
range of possibilities (Arnett, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said that high school graduation ceremonies most closely resemble the structure and function of a
more traditional rites of passage ceremony in the modern world. However, the high school graduation
ceremony does not prepare or initiate youth with the practical skills or discernments necessary to
proceed successfully in living outside of the home (Hamitlon Hamilton, 2008); it is a superficial event
that publically acknowledges a youth s supposed maturing but neglects to include, generally, any of
the practical work of identity building that was a central facet of traditional ceremonies. High school
graduation ceremonies serve only to signify an academic success or a coming of age, but the popular
notion that maturity means to be academically successful or to reach a particular age alone misses the
most important part of the process, which is that work is

Essay on Supersonic Flight
In 1943, Theodor Von Karman, in response to a request by US Air Force headquarters, claimed that
the realization of a supersonic aircraft would have been doable using the right technology and tools.
The fear of breaking the sound barrier was finally removed in 1947, when the Captain Yaeger flew the
Bell X 1 at a speed slightly above Mach 1 for few seconds, producing the famous and long awaited
sonic boom (caused by an impulsive pressure change created by the sonic waves detaching from the
aircraft), music for the scientists attending that historical moment, but current nightmare for the 21st
Century supersonic vehicles designers [8].

The B 58 itself showed to the world that the possibility of a civilian SST was at least worthy of
accurate investigation and capital investments. Although the large bomber implemented the supersonic
efficient area ruling design first introduced by Whitcomb (mid 1950s [1]) and therefore it could
deliver a nuclear payload cruising at Mach 2 for about two hours, the light and thin wings, designed
for high altitude flight and inefficient close to the ground at subsonic speed, highlighted a new set of
primary technical challenges to be addressed by a commercial SST: the realization satisfactory
structural design, the optimization of the wing aerodynamics for subsonic flow, and related to the last
point, the improvement of takeoff and landing performance. A deadly crash at 1961 Paris air show
summed up all the concerns about safety issues related to a not optimal overall design [4].
Three civilian SST programs started in the 1960s: the successful Anglo French Concorde, the
somewhat failed Russian TU 144 and the short ten year long attempt of the USA SST, all belonging to
the category of what today is referred as first generation supersonic transport.
Politics played a big role in the development of a SST in the post WWI years. European countries

Persuasive Essay On Motor Learning
Last year as a 2nd bachelor degree seeking student, I volunteered to participate in a motor learning
study about putting golf balls that aimed to replicate previous studies [my basis for my proposal] that
revealed learners studying and practicing a motor skill with the expectation of having to teach the skill
could experience enhanced motor learning compared to learners expecting to be tested on the skill.
One idea for future research was to conduct a similar study with novice, student pilots who had never
received flight instruction to attempt a replication of similar findings in the development of motor
learning theory, specifically the development of theory regarding the acquisition phase of learning a
new skill (Daou, Lohse, Miller, 2016).
What key suggestion for future research did the authors address in their study?
The study addressed a shortcoming in the small body of literature indicating that expecting to teach
may enhance the learning of declarative knowledge, such as academic information. Previous research
had not investigated the effects of expecting to teach on motor learning [such as putting a golf ball],
which relies heavily on procedural knowledge. They sought to determine if the participant s
[expecting to teach] learning was indirectly enhanced by motivation to spend more time studying and
practicing or if the participant s learning was directly [as revealed in a previous study] improved after
statistically controlling the quantity of studying and

conducted regarding the Habsburg royal dynasty of Spain, which came to an end after the demise of
Charles II, a severely inbred individual. Charles II, known as El Hechizado (The Hexed) was a
severely disabled man who suffered from mental retardation, learning difficulties and many health
problems. He was short, he had a large head compared to his body size, he had blood in his urine, he
had difficulties chewing his food, and his two wives reported him to be impotent (citation
KIIFHKOBBL). He did not talk until 4 years of age and he did not walk until he was 8 years old. He
was also the victim of two recessive genetic disorders: combined pituitary ... Show more content on

It is such a striking feature in the Ptolemaic family that almost every scholar who had written about
Ptolemaic Egypt commented on the incest that took place between its family members (citation
PERIPD). The royal family resisted marriage with commoners or Egyptians with significantly lower
status and over time the Ptolemies began to abstain from exogamy altogether, marrying within
themselves. One of the main reasons of course, is because committing incest is a symbol of power.
There is also a cultural reason to it as well, derived from myths where the Greek goddess Gaia (Earth)
mated with her son Ouranos (Heaven) and brought order and structure out of chaos. However,
incestuous activity is mainly done to assert power and display dominance; committing the taboo set
the Ptolemies apart from ordinary standard rules of human behaviour (citation PERIPD). There is also
the desire to preserve the purity of royal blood and prevent it from being tainted by commoners and
outsiders. Finding a suitable and high status partner is another reason to participate in inbreeding. With
no other high status equivalent, the Ptolemies turn to their own family members as they are of equal
status and high rank and are sired from the same high class individuals. There is again the cultural
influence where in myths, gods marry each other and because the Ptolemies considered themselves
gods, incest was completely acceptable. Another benefit to incestuous marriage is the control of the
spread of genes. The male has reproductive control over his wife therefore by marrying her he is able
to counteract possible rivals. The relative shares some of the same genes as the king, so by making her
his wife, the king is preventing her from siring offspring with possible rivals and passing on his genes
to outsiders

Literary Analysis Of Wild Thorns By Sahar Khalifeh
Wild Thorns by Sahar Khalifeh is an insightful commentary that brings to life the Palestinian struggle
under the Israeli Occupation and embodies this conflict through the different perspectives brought
forth by the contrasting characters. We are primarily shown this strife through the eyes of the principal
character, the expatriate Usama, as well as the foil character of his cousin, Adil. Khalifeh skillfully
uses literary devices such as emotive language, allusions and positive and negative connotations to
highlight life under the Occupation. As the audience, these techniques help encourage us to consider
the struggle more in depth, and due to the wide variety of characters, invite us to relate to them.

They loosed a dog on him that went for his genitals. Khalifeh deftly includes this grotesque imagery to
open our eyes to the common brutality they now endure in Palestine under the Israeli s and make us
aware of the barbarity of the situation. It evokes not only a sense of poignancy in us, but outrage as
well because his human decency has been violated with such nonchalance. As the audience, we grow
to sympathize with the conquered Palestinians and support Usama in his quest to reclaim freedom for
Palestine. As Khalifeh predominantly manifests the Palestinian struggle through the main character of
Usama, it gives the reader a very narrow minded view of the issues faced in Palestine. Once Usama
returns, he is disgusted to find streets filled with complacent Arabs who have accepted the Israeli rule
and workers who bought things greedily, ate well, dressed well. Greedy is an important and interesting
adjective the author uses to describe the people of Palestine, as it carries a very negative connotation
that describes the people with a naked and selfish ambition along with a voracious lust for riches and
wealth. Through this integration of greedy, as the audience we are averse to the Palestinian people and
empathize with Usama as he paints himself as the lone hero that will save Palestine. Through this
crude description of the Palestinians, we can see that in his eyes, they have traded and

Kangxi And Peter The Great Similarities
Comparing and Contrasting Two Monarchs
In the late 17th century to the early 18th century, two powerful monarchs who ruled over their own
magnificent empires. These monarchs were Peter the Great, the tsar of Russia, and the emperor of
China, Kangxi. At the time of their rules, an economic system called mercantilism formed. This
system allowed societies to benefit off of influx of goods from merchants trading. Using this system,
in China, the Canton system was formed to open up ports to western societies. Even though, both
Kangxi and Peter the Great shared similarities in the way they ruled, they had a variety of differences,
which were caused by their background and their country s interests. On the other hand, the diverse
backgrounds and experiences of the empires caused them to also have differences in their ways of
ruling. These differences could be categorized into two overarching topics, economy and education.
Their economies had varied taxation systems and were structured differently. As far as education, the
rulers differed in the ways they spread knowledge and the type of knowledge they taught. Comparing
these two rulers can produce some similarities shown in the economic systems backed by the time
period in which they ruled. For instance, in Russia, Peter the Great relied on the economic system of
mercantilism to spur economic growth within his empire. He achieved this by increasing exports like
silk. (Massie, 938) Similarly, Kangxi created the Canton system which

Martin Luther King Jr s Letter From A Birmingham Jail
Martin Luther King Jr. and Mohandas K. Gandhi were civil rights activists who practiced a form of
movement to gain equal rights amongst their nation. King and Gandhi were most important for their
allegiance to nonviolence. King demonstrated his notion of nonviolence in his letter titled, Letter from
a Birmingham Jail , and Gandhi in his writing, from Non Violent Resistance . The two are closely
related and share common and distinct themes; both held considerably comparable belief toward
nonviolence, laws, and religion.
As both understood the evil of oppression, King and Gandhi conveys that violence could not be used
as the measure to achieve equality in their movements. Nonviolence was utilized by both King and
Gandhi to bring focus to their oppressors evil actions and show the society that justice can be earned
without violence. King used nonviolence as a weapon to stop racism, segregation, and injustice toward
African American in the United States. King did a non violent campaign in Birmingham, as King
stated, four basic steps: (1) collection of the facts to determine whether injustices are alive; (2)
negotiation; (3) self purification; and (4) direct action (p.234). King believes, the tension created by
direct action is the answer to receiving results. Negotiation is an ultimately more humane approach but
allows less results. King concluded that direct action would create chaos that would open the door for
negotiation. Similarly, Gandhi revealed a method of direct

Reflection Of Psalm 121
I read this passage to Cindy a few times over the last 2 ½ years. It always seemed to bring her peace as
she processed her next step in this journey. Psalm 121 seems to speak of the tough times in our lives
and how we can still find peace. God does not live in some celestial tower, far away from the world
God created. God cares for all the people and all of creation. God cares for us amidst all the twists and
turns of life s journey. It is that conviction which inspires Psalm 121, a Psalm I read again to Cindy in
the last week of her life. Psalm 121 is sometimes called „the traveler‟s Psalm‟. It was a psalm sung by
pilgrims as they made their annual journey to Jerusalem. It expressed their faith in God, but also
reflected the unease they felt about travel. I look to the mountains; where will my help come from?
(v.1). Mountains may be beautiful, but they can also be dangerous. Mountains are places where people
lose their lives. No, the hills are not the place from which our help comes rather they are the place
where help is needed. Here in this Psalm, the hills or mountains represented the perils of the journey,
for it was in the ravines and gorges of the mountain ranges that wild beasts and robbers hid. As the
pilgrims looked to the mountain ranges they had to cross if they were to reach Jerusalem, they were
filled with foreboding and wondered from where their help would come. It is in this situation that the
Psalmist declares: My help will come from the Lord, the

The Pros And Cons Of Bankruptcy
Premise of enacting the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 came into force in August 2016. It is believed that the
acid test for the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 would come when the case involving Kolkata
based Nico Industries is adjudicated. The adjudication process signals whether a sick company can be
shut down within 180 days of the case being registered. While more than 1000 applications have been
filed, 100 of them have been admitted by the arbiter in the National Company Law Tribunal or NCLT
that is expected to decide the fate of these non financial firms within 180 days. That aside, one begs to
examine the nitty gritties of the Code itself.
What is Bankruptcy?
Firstly, we must define as to what bankruptcy is? Bankruptcy is a legal status imposed by a firm or
individual unable to meet obligations. Before the passing of the Bankruptcy Code, the legal
framework in India with regard to this sphere suffered from a lack of clarity and certainty in
jurisdictions. Decisions were often appealed, overstayed or overturned by judicial forums with
concurrent jurisdictions. This has led to unnecessary delays often leading to misuse of this
shortcoming by debtors. Therefore in this regard, the need for a new legislation was recognised. There
were many reasons for this;

Application And Specification Of A Computer Network
On December 6, 1967, the Department of Defense awarded a contract with the purpose of the design
and specification of a computer network . Four months later, the Advanced Research Projects Agency
(ARPANET) was created. By October 15, 1969, computers at the University of California Los
Angeles and Stanford were connected and communicating (Internet History from ARAPNET to
Broadband, 2007) . Thus was the birth of the internet. Now, the internet is an indispensable tool that
provides us with an active connection to everyone and nearly everything. However, we ve evolved the
internet and moved forward to the internet of things (IoT). The IoT is connecting man to machine,
machine to machine, and machine to man all through smart devices, ... Show more content on

Also of note are the new wearable devices. Today, instead of pulling out our wallet to pay for
groceries, we can simply scan our Apple Watch in front of an Apple Pay terminal and have the funds
immediately deducted from our account. When arriving at the airport, your connected device can
sense your current location and immediately let your bank know you are preparing for a trip. As you
drive, your connected vehicle can download real time traffic and make suggested route changes before
you get stuck in traffic. More importantly, many modern vehicles are equipped with sensors that can
detect a collision and immediately dispatch help. The connected world has far exceeded our
expectations. One area of concern that revolves around the IoT is cyber security. Throughout the 2016
presidential primaries, cyber security has become an increasingly hot topic. During the January 17th,
2016 Democratic Primary Debate, cyber security was discussed no less than six times (Leatherby,
2016). As the IoT continues to expand, hackers have expanded their attacks as well. In July of 2015,
hackers were able to remotely take control of the systems onboard a Jeep Cherokee and completely
disable the vehicle (Kerner, 2015). Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event. Both the FBI and

Employment and Medical Leave Act Essay
Family and Medical Leave Act The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) was established

In reality, the impact of FMLA abuse extends well beyond the workplace because FMLA costs are
passed on to consumers. (Profesional Exchange Service Corporation, 2005) Even though the time off
is unpaid to the employee, it is very disruptive to certain types of business such as call centers who
need to schedule employees to cover busy call times with in their business. By having employees
abusing this policy, it becomes harder and harder to staff some businesses. It is not only the employer
that suffers; it is also the employees that are left to work when there peers off of work. Some of the
other issues with the administration of the law are the vague diagnoses doctors give for the reasons
employees should be off of work. In some cases, employees file under the FMLA law when in fact
they may have a type of disability the employer could accommodate under the ADA law. Even though
the intent of this act was to help protect employees, many believe that FMLA may be doing more
harm to business that it was intended. It may be time to review and revamp this law, and have some of
the items intergraded into the ADA in order for it to be better managed. Many believe that there are
ways to improve this law to help protect employees as well as have the law not have a severe impact
on businesses. References Cohen, D. G., McLeod, T. (2003, August 2003). Changes in FMLA are
needed. Michigan Banker, 15(8),

Characteristics Of Queen Hatshepsut
Ancient Egypt s history is full of stories that tell about the many powerful leaders. Two such leaders
are particularly noteworthy for their contribution to Egypt s success. First, we have Queen Hatshepsut,
who was a pharaoh for twenty two years. She was the first woman to hold the title of Pharaoh in
Egypt. Ramses II was also a successful leader. He reigned for 60+ years with many accomplishments.
This essay will attempt to determine who the better Pharaoh was. To do so I looked at factors such as
their leadership, problem solving skills, and legacy. I have concluded that Hatshepsut was the better
Pharaoh.
Queen Hatshepsut demonstrated great leadership during her reign. She was confident, utilized her
strengths, and motivated others that came after her. These qualities drove her to success and her
accomplishments are all proof. Hatshepsut exceeded people s expectations of women in power. She
proved her dedication to the throne by dressing as a male. Dressing as a male illustrated her
confidence and showed the effect she had on society.
Hatshepsut built the wealth of the eighteenth dynasty by developing trade connections. Not only that
but she expanded Egypt s borders through the use of military campaigns. additionally, she undertook
ambitious building projects and restored old temples. She did this all while avoiding war when she
could. Hatshepsut focused on trade and economic. This is in comparison to Ramses who concentrated
on expanding Egypt through warfare. Thus,

Pros And Cons Of The Middle Colonies
Although The Northern Colonies had a huge expansion of trade, parks, paved streets, diverse crops
and many more, The Middle Colonies are considered the best to live in because it had major
ports/trade, had religious diversity by 1775 and fertile land. Americans have often prided themselves
on their rich diversity and there was a lot. The middle colonies contained Native American tribes of
the Algonquian and Iroquoian language groups. The Middle Colonies had also a sizable percentage of
African slaves during the early years and unlike the New England Colonies, the middle colonies had
an assortment of religions. With Quakers, Presbyterians, Lutherans and Dutch Calvinists had made the

some of the proprietors there believed in religious tolerance although some didn t care as long the
people paid for their land so there wasn t a problem. The Middle Colonies contained Pennsylvania,
New Jersey, Delaware and New York. Since they were between the Northern and Southern colonies,
the middle colonies were important and served as distribution centers in the English mercantile system

The Dynamics of Identity and Insanity in The Accidental...
In the plays The Accidental Death of an Anarchist written by Dario Fo, and The Government Inspector
, written by Nikolai Gogol, ‘identity and ‘insanity play vital roles. The Maniac, who is the
protagonist of The Accidental Death of An Anarchist , is seen changing his identity throughout the
play, pretending to be various other people. Khlestakov, the protagonist of The Government Inspector
lands in the position of being an inspector by chance, and throughout the play he thoroughly exploits
this opportunity by making the most of this particular identity. It is this characteristic of both

basic human traits such as greed and curiosity leading to false identity. Nikolai Gogol, like Fo had a
hidden motive behind the changing identity of Khlestakov. He has created the character of Khlestakov
to fulfill the purpose of exposing the corrupt nature of local administration. As, the officials thought he
was the government inspector they tried to bribe him and the audience was made aware of their
deceitful nature. He has chosen to give Khlestakov the false identity of a government inspector so that
he can unravel the truth, which was the obvious motive of Dario Fo as well. Maniac: Yes, if I were a

audience. Fo has created the insane character of the Maniac to add to the humour of the play. He talks
to himself as well as non living objects around him. His dialogues are blunt and clearly reflect his
insanity. At some point his multiple identities is what leads the audience to think he is insane.

Objectives:
The purpose of this lab was to determine the specific heat of a metal as well as the heat of fusion of
ice.
Apparatus: The equipment used in the experiment include: metal cylinder, beaker, triple beam balance,
Styrofoam cup, thermometer and a hot plate.
Theory
The energy required to increase the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1K is referred to as specific
heat, whose SI unit is J/ (kg. K). The specific heat of water, CH2O is 1.000cal / (g. OC) which
equivalent to 4186 J / (kg. K). Consider a cup with mass m, holding water of mass mH2O with initial

The ice was added continuously until the temperature of the water bath dropped to 100C. The final
temperature, Tf was then measured after the ice had melted completely. The latent heat of fusion of ice
was then computed.
Results
Block number = 13
Mass of Block, ms = 83.3g
Mass of Cup = 5.5g
Measured Temp. of Boiling Water = 99.6 C
CH2O = 1.000cal / (g. OC) = 4186 J / (kg. K).

The Social Changes And Political Revolutions
To begin with, The social changes and political revolutions are to be sought, not in men s brains, not in
man s better insight into eternal truth and justice, but in changes in the modes of production and
exchange by Engels. Basically what Engels s means by that is the materialist formation of history
starts from the scheme of the production and how exchanges of things are produced, and that is the
basis of all social structure. Fundamentally, as in every society it has emerged in history and it still is
happening that the manner in which wealth is distributed and how the society is divided into classes or
estates is dependent upon what is produced, and how it is produce, and how the products are
exchanged. And this is what that needs to be sorted out. Therefore, the mode of production is playing a
big role in today s society and also as it did back in the days. Everything is dependent; one person is
dependent on other in this society. Moreover, society is divided into two groups; one group is whom
who are ruling over the other group by taking his/her rights; capitalism is playing its role. Moreover,
changes in the productive forces are more powerful cause of revolution. In conclusion, Engels takes an
historical materialist approach. He indicates that the capitalist mode of production is fundamentally
contradictory and from this he traces a series of social and economic conflicts that follow inevitably
from this basic contradiction by establishing Historical

External costs of intercity truck freight transportation
David J. Forkenbrock *
Public Policy Center, The University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA 52242, USA
Abstract
From a societal perspective, it is desirable for all transportation users to pay their full social (private
and external) costs. We estimate four general types of external costs for intercity freight trucking and
compare them with the private costs incurred by carriers. Estimated external costs include: accidents
(fatalities, injuries, and property damage); emissions (air pollution and greenhouse gases); noise; and
unrecovered costs associated with the provision, operation, and maintenance ... Show more content on

Signi®cant external costs arise from transportation, although accurate estimates of their magnitudes
have been dicult to obtain. In this article we assemble best available estimates of external costs due
to freight truck operations between cities (i.e. in rural areas). To place these costs in a useful context,
we compare them with corresponding private costs, which are the market costs directly faced by
freight carriers.
This article does not address the issue of external bene®ts arising through the transportation of freight.
Most transportation economists doubt the existence of signi®cant external bene®ts from the provision
of transportation services (e.g. Rothengatter, 1994; Verhoef, 1994, p. 278). Markets exist for these
services, such that cost savings due to economies of scale or density may be retained by carriers,
passed on to shippers, or ultimately passed on to ®nal consumers of the goods that are shipped.
As Greene and Jones (1997, p. 9) observe, some economists believe that external bene®ts can arise
from improvements to transportation systems (see, for example, Willeke, 1994). An improvement may
reduce the costs of ®rms operations, thus contributing to increased competitiveness and more output.
If scale economies exist, the unit cost of production may drop.
Depending on the market structure, bene®ciaries of this cost reduction may be the producing ®rm or

lead to the final collapse? What should have been done to reduce or offset these pressures?
Penn Square Bank was a small commercial bank in Oklahoma City which made high risk financial
loans during the late 1970s in the oil boom. The bank ultimately collapsed during the early 1980s due
to their financing practices. The bank was overestimating and valuing its customer s gas and oil
reserves that let at that time to fund a bigger credit line. In addition, the bank didn t request clients to

For offsetting ethical pressures to increase revenue recognition, the Penn Square Bank should have
stuck to FASB principles. The GAAP should have been complied with and this would have helped
avoid revenue recognition problems.
Dow Corning Corporation was founded in 1943 as a jointly owned enterprise by The Dow Chemical
Company and Corning Incorporated to develop the potential of silicone materials. Dow Corning s
principal businesses were silicone materials and polycrystalline silicon.
In the early 1960 s Dow Corning supplied Texas plastic surgeons Frank Gerow and Thomas Cronin
with silicone for their medical implant device research. Gerow and Cronin, using Dow Corning
silicone, invented the first silicone breast implant as a device to aid women who had undergone
mastectomies. At that time, the Food and Drug Administration had no regulations governing
implantable devices. Companies like Dow Corning had to determine the safety of devices on their
own. The surgeons conducted clinical trials of the implant prior to product introduction in 1964. In the
next several years, the implant grew popular for cosmetic surgery as well as reconstructive, and Dow
Corning cornered both markets. Between 1960s and the mid 1990s, about two million women
nationwide have received breast implants, most of them for cosmetic reasons. However, some women
have started to complain that the implants have ruptured, allowing gel to leak into the breast cavity
and migrate to other

The Black Woman Nakeya Brown Summary
Family Heirlooms and Black History The Black Woman; Recent Works from Nakeya Brown and
Michaela Pilar Brown Objects carry the story of those that possess them. For African Americans,
objects carry an extra weight as for so many centuries we were not allowed to posses any of our own.
Despite an amount exclude us traditions; culture, recipes, family secrets, were passed down orally. As
time changed the obtaining of stuff gained that extra weight. Bereft of things for so long, any small
object became a prize, relic, momentum and until symbol of who it handled it. Carrying this legacy
into their recent exhibitions artists Nakeya Brown and Michaela Pilar Brown, not related, mine their
family histories and reconstruct those stories through photography, ... Show more content on

Through collage, sculpture and photography sometimes all together she makes real the fantasy and
perhaps nightmare of Black womanhood, history, sexuality and love. Themes are not just presented
but turned on their head. In the object sculpture Country Preacher , Pilar Brown puts a tiny black
church with a gold cross in the mouth of a bird skull. One thinks of death and sin in the church and
how much our present and past lives inform that unknown future. Then in Cut You a female figure is
adorned for survival and battle as a black woman with horns, a knife, and high heels. She poised to
attach those that may try to challenge her strength. She s sitting on ready. The things that may have
been lost, Pilar Brown constructs among the sculptures for the viewer to find. Her pieces tell a
historical fiction not unlike a Toni Morrison novel. That may Black women will immediately
recognize intuitively. Both, Brown and Pilar Brown, help to bring the Black woman narrative forward
in these recent exhibitions. When I see their work I see myself. I follow the clues of their
contemporary aesthetics to read the narrative of objects, understanding that the littlest things have the
biggest significance. That those old pictures and junk found in granny s house are actually

Peace-Weavers In Beowulf
TITLE
Freothuwebbe (fríÞwebbe) is an Anglo Saxon word that translates as a peace weaver, woman
(Bosworth 336). Peace weavers are trafficked, in a sense, as they are women who symbolize a gift
transaction, an exchange between nations that is meant to forge unions and prevent hostilities. In the
best of situations these women became diplomats of sorts, active participants in marital arrangements
and advisors to their husbands, performing in political negotiations. On the other hand, peace weavers
can be construed as literal objects of male exchange in a society that valued warfare. Critical
interpretations of the role of peace weaver involve the sentiment that many women ultimately failed at
their task of bringing peace to the two nations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some ways her role as an aristocrat and gracious hostess seems to connote a sense that her figure is
purely decorative. Surrounded by masculine language and actions, her feminine elegance certainly
stands out. In her critical study of women in Old English literature, Helen Damico (who bases her
studies primarily on similarities between Icelandic and Anglo Saxon portrayals of women) highlights
her belief that Wealtheow embodies an Anglo Saxon femininity that brings a sense of aristocratic
beauty to a place otherwise lacking it. Yet she goes on to speculate that Wealtheow is not merely a
helpless character rather, she highlights the fact that what may seem a merely decorative aspect of the
peace weaver is imbued with a sense of foreboding, of the threat of violence that underlays even the
most innocuous seeming celebration. In her foundational study Language, Sign and Gender in
Beowulf, Gillian Overing focuses on female signification into Anglo Saxon culture. She states that
since Anglo Saxon culture is war and death oriented, women are not a natural fixture of the heroic
system thus, none of the peace weavers in Beowulf are successful at the task. She asserts that the
women who function as peace weavers are either silent, are not given acknowledgement for their
work, or disappear

Tris is disappointed in herself at the beginning of the film because she believes that she is not worthy of finding a faction and does not know where she belongs in society. Everyone knows where they belong, except for me (Burger 2014) This is significant to the story because it lets the viewers have an insight into Tris not being normal and gives us a heads up that she is different from the rest. The movie lacks foreshadowing, as we are not evident at first of Tris challenging all of societies beliefs. As the movie unfolds, you can start to put two and two together, connecting the dots to see that Tris is Divergent, she will not ever fit into any group. She does not follow the rules, she does not believe what others tell her and she does what she thinks is right and not what is expected of her. Signs of anti heroism are also shown in Tris when she is misunderstood by society. One idea for future research was to conduct a similar study with novice, student pilots who had never received flight instruction to attempt a replication of similar findings in the development of motor learning theory, specifically the development of theory regarding the acquisition phase of learning a new skill (Daou, Lohse, Miller, 2016). What key suggestion for future research did the authors address in their study? The study addressed a shortcoming in the small body of literature indicating that expecting to teach may enhance the learning of declarative knowledge, such as academic information. Previous research had not investigated the effects of expecting to teach on motor learning [such as putting a golf ball], which relies heavily on procedural knowledge. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is such a striking feature in the Ptolemaic family that almost every scholar who had written about Ptolemaic Egypt commented on the incest that took place between its family members (citation PERIPD). The royal family resisted marriage with commoners or Egyptians with significantly lower status and over time the Ptolemies began to abstain from exogamy altogether, marrying within themselves. One of the main reasons of course, is because committing incest is a symbol of power. There is also a cultural reason to it as well, derived from myths where the Greek goddess Gaia (Earth) mated with her son Ouranos (Heaven) and brought order and structure out of chaos. However, incestuous activity is mainly done to assert power and display dominance; committing the taboo set the Ptolemies apart from ordinary standard rules of human behaviour (citation PERIPD). There is also the desire to preserve the purity of royal blood and prevent it from being tainted by commoners and outsiders. Finding a suitable and high status partner is another reason to participate in inbreeding. With no other high status equivalent, the Ptolemies turn to their own family members as they are of equal status and high rank and are sired from the same high class individuals. There is again the cultural influence where in myths, gods marry each other and because the Ptolemies considered themselves gods, incest was completely acceptable. Another benefit to incestuous marriage is the control of the spread of genes. The male has reproductive control over his wife therefore by marrying her he is able to counteract possible rivals. The relative shares some of the same genes as the king, so by making her his wife, the king is preventing her from siring offspring with possible rivals and passing on his genes to outsiders ... As the audience, these techniques help encourage us to consider the struggle more in depth, and due to the wide variety of characters, invite us to relate to them. Khalifeh first introduces ... It evokes not only a sense of poignancy in us, but outrage as well because his human decency has been violated with such nonchalance. As the audience, we grow to sympathize with the conquered Palestinians and support Usama in his quest to reclaim freedom for Palestine. As Khalifeh predominantly manifests the Palestinian struggle through the main character of Usama, it gives the reader a very narrow minded view of the issues faced in Palestine. Once Usama returns, he is disgusted to find streets filled with complacent Arabs who have accepted the Israeli rule and workers who bought things greedily, ate well, dressed well. Greedy is an important and interesting adjective the author uses to describe the people of Palestine, as it carries a very negative connotation that describes the people with a naked and selfish ambition along with a voracious lust for riches and wealth. Through this integration of greedy, as the audience we are averse to the Palestinian people and empathize with Usama as he paints himself as the lone hero that will save Palestine. • 25. Kangxi And Peter The Great Similarities Comparing and Contrasting Two Monarchs In the late 17th century to the early 18th century, two powerful monarchs who ruled over their own magnificent empires. These monarchs were Peter the Great, the tsar of Russia, and the emperor of China, Kangxi. At the time of their rules, an economic system called mercantilism formed. This system allowed societies to benefit off of influx of goods from merchants trading. Using this system, in China, the Canton system was formed to open up ports to western societies. Even though, both Kangxi and Peter the Great shared similarities in the way they ruled, they had a variety of differences, which were caused by their background and their country s interests. On the other hand, the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the empires caused them to also have differences in their ways of ruling. These differences could be categorized into two overarching topics, economy and education. Their economies had varied taxation systems and were structured differently. As far as education, the rulers differed in the ways they spread knowledge and the type of knowledge they taught. Comparing these two rulers can produce some similarities shown in the economic systems backed by the time period in which they ruled. For instance, in Russia, Peter the Great relied on the economic system of mercantilism to spur economic growth within his empire. He achieved this by increasing exports like silk. Gandhi were civil rights activists who practiced a form of movement to gain equal rights amongst their nation. King and Gandhi were most important for their allegiance to nonviolence. King demonstrated his notion of nonviolence in his letter titled, Letter from a Birmingham Jail , and Gandhi in his writing, from Non Violent Resistance . The two are closely related and share common and distinct themes; both held considerably comparable belief toward nonviolence, laws, and religion. As both understood the evil of oppression, King and Gandhi conveys that violence could not be used as the measure to achieve equality in their movements. Nonviolence was utilized by both King and Gandhi to bring focus to their oppressors evil actions and show the society that justice can be earned without violence. King used nonviolence as a weapon to stop racism, segregation, and injustice toward African American in the United States. King did a non violent campaign in Birmingham, as King stated, four basic steps: (1) collection of the facts to determine whether injustices are alive; (2) negotiation; (3) self purification; and (4) direct action (p.234). King believes, the tension created by direct action is the answer to receiving results. Negotiation is an ultimately more humane approach but allows less results. • 27. Reflection Of Psalm 121 I read this passage to Cindy a few times over the last 2 ½ years. It always seemed to bring her peace as she processed her next step in this journey. Psalm 121 seems to speak of the tough times in our lives and how we can still find peace. God does not live in some celestial tower, far away from the world God created. God cares for all the people and all of creation. God cares for us amidst all the twists and turns of life s journey. It is that conviction which inspires Psalm 121, a Psalm I read again to Cindy in the last week of her life. Psalm 121 is sometimes called „the traveler‟s Psalm‟. It was a psalm sung by pilgrims as they made their annual journey to Jerusalem. It expressed their faith in God, but also reflected the unease they felt about travel. I look to the mountains; where will my help come from? (v.1). Mountains may be beautiful, but they can also be dangerous. Mountains are places where people lose their lives. No, the hills are not the place from which our help comes rather they are the place where help is needed. Here in this Psalm, the hills or mountains represented the perils of the journey, for it was in the ravines and gorges of the mountain ranges that wild beasts and robbers hid. As the pilgrims looked to the mountain ranges they had to cross if they were to reach Jerusalem, they were filled with foreboding and wondered from where their help would come. It is believed that the acid test for the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 would come when the case involving Kolkata based Nico Industries is adjudicated. The adjudication process signals whether a sick company can be shut down within 180 days of the case being registered. While more than 1000 applications have been filed, 100 of them have been admitted by the arbiter in the National Company Law Tribunal or NCLT that is expected to decide the fate of these non financial firms within 180 days. That aside, one begs to examine the nitty gritties of the Code itself. What is Bankruptcy? Firstly, we must define as to what bankruptcy is? Bankruptcy is a legal status imposed by a firm or individual unable to meet obligations. Before the passing of the Bankruptcy Code, the legal framework in India with regard to this sphere suffered from a lack of clarity and certainty in jurisdictions. Decisions were often appealed, overstayed or overturned by judicial forums with concurrent jurisdictions. This has led to unnecessary delays often leading to misuse of this shortcoming by debtors. Two such leaders are particularly noteworthy for their contribution to Egypt s success. First, we have Queen Hatshepsut, who was a pharaoh for twenty two years. She was the first woman to hold the title of Pharaoh in Egypt. Ramses II was also a successful leader. He reigned for 60+ years with many accomplishments. This essay will attempt to determine who the better Pharaoh was. To do so I looked at factors such as their leadership, problem solving skills, and legacy. I have concluded that Hatshepsut was the better Pharaoh. Queen Hatshepsut demonstrated great leadership during her reign. She was confident, utilized her strengths, and motivated others that came after her. These qualities drove her to success and her accomplishments are all proof. Hatshepsut exceeded people s expectations of women in power. She proved her dedication to the throne by dressing as a male. Dressing as a male illustrated her confidence and showed the effect she had on society. Hatshepsut built the wealth of the eighteenth dynasty by developing trade connections. Not only that but she expanded Egypt s borders through the use of military campaigns. additionally, she undertook ambitious building projects and restored old temples. • 39. The Social Changes And Political Revolutions To begin with, The social changes and political revolutions are to be sought, not in men s brains, not in man s better insight into eternal truth and justice, but in changes in the modes of production and exchange by Engels. Basically what Engels s means by that is the materialist formation of history starts from the scheme of the production and how exchanges of things are produced, and that is the basis of all social structure. Fundamentally, as in every society it has emerged in history and it still is happening that the manner in which wealth is distributed and how the society is divided into classes or estates is dependent upon what is produced, and how it is produce, and how the products are exchanged. And this is what that needs to be sorted out. Therefore, the mode of production is playing a big role in today s society and also as it did back in the days. Everything is dependent; one person is dependent on other in this society. Moreover, society is divided into two groups; one group is whom who are ruling over the other group by taking his/her rights; capitalism is playing its role. Moreover, changes in the productive forces are more powerful cause of revolution. In conclusion, Engels takes an historical materialist approach. He indicates that the capitalist mode of production is fundamentally contradictory and from this he traces a series of social and economic conflicts that follow inevitably from this basic contradiction by establishing Historical ... In this article we assemble best available estimates of external costs due to freight truck operations between cities (i.e. in rural areas). To place these costs in a useful context, we compare them with corresponding private costs, which are the market costs directly faced by freight carriers. This article does not address the issue of external bene®ts arising through the transportation of freight. Most transportation economists doubt the existence of signi®cant external bene®ts from the provision of transportation services (e.g. Rothengatter, 1994; Verhoef, 1994, p. 278).
