The Political And Cultural Unrest Of The Middle East Essay
For over a decade the United States has been entrenched in a war to resolve the political and cultural
unrest in the Middle East. For many, the country of Turkey is the crucible of this region where the
intersections of the main religious and cultural elements collide. Additionally, as a crossroads to
Europe from Asia, Africa and the entire Middle East, Turkey remains an inherently important country
due to its strategic geographic location. The pressures that are exerted on Turkey over the past century
have led many within its borders to question its allegiances and the destiny of the country. Should it
maintain the status quo based on the post WWI political borders or should it pursue a return to times
of the Ottoman Empire when it sat as the seat of power for what many would consider the Caliphate
that presided over those lands at the time? As a strategic crossroads in many aspects, Turkey will
remain important to United States policy in the region.
As the United States Secretary of State, I propose two courses of action (COAs) to aid in the pursuit of
U.S. interests in both Turkey and the region: first, strengthening the military partnership and
enhancing the economic collaboration benefiting the U.S. and Turkey and keeping them on the path of
western style democracy with close ties with the United States; second, using diplomacy and
information to increase Turkey s participation with western organizations and highlight the benefits of
the partnerships while also

Per use Costs (Variable Costs) are the single amounts that it costs each time we use specific resources.
What can be done to lower the budget and reduce the project s duration?
There are many things that we, Empire Island Convention Center, can do to lower costs to help bring
the bar of the budget lower. One way is to cut back in the human resource sector. We can assure that
all work is done within an eight hour day to reduce the costs of over time. Also, we can hire seasonal
or temporary workers to reduce our work force numbers.
As far as lowering the costs in regard to our Utility services, we can install light switches that are
motion sensored. Each unit (conference room) can have its on power source so that when rooms are
not in use, electricity is not overburdened.
Reducing the duration of the project may prove to be difficult. Each Seminar (Convention) is based on
a case by case basis as stated previously. Each client may entail variations in timing. Each client is

Persuasive Speech To Join The Military
Specific purpose: to persuade my audience (females) to join the military
Thesis Statement: A few females are joining the military, and those taking leadership roles is even
small, caused by existence of limited information about the Army and less combat roles, and this can
be addressed by lifting ban on women on combat and creating more combat support jobs.
1. Introduction
a). Major General Marcia Anderson is a celebrated woman for having beat the odds to claim a top
leadership position in the Army. She joined the army since she needed a science credit while studying
at Creighton University.
b) Joining the Army was not her dream. Anderson took on the military as a career because she wanted
to change the misconceptions about women taking up leadership roles (McGregor).
c) But Andersons story is not representative of the current trends among females in the military. ...

a). I will discuss some of the reasons why less women join the Army. Currently, females make up 15.7
percent of the U.S. Army. Approximately 16% of the officer corps and 7% of top generals and
admirals in the Armed forces are women (McGregor). The statistics show women still make up a
small percentage out of the total number of military officers in the Army. Few females thus join the
Army. Many females decide to enter the Army mostly for personal reasons ranging from to avoid
economic difficulties. Some join because the Army is the only viable job and that they have looked for
jobs but have not found any. Others join out of a sense of honor, duty and even patriotism. They want
to serve their country in the various capacities. While another group enters, the Army to receive
education benefits, to gain job skills and to see more of the world among others (Jessica). Therefore,
each person always has their reason. But the important thing is once they join the Army, they work
towards protecting the country and its citizens. No one cares what their reasons were as long as they

What Is Sarah Vowell Shooting Dad Essay
Shooting Dad by Sarah Vowell tells the interesting story of a girl with views that oppose that of her
father s. Sarah s father, Pat, works as a gunsmith and is a massive gun enthusiast, while Sarah herself
is more into music. Throughout this story, Sarah relates to the reader how passionate her and her dad
are about their different hobbies and perspectives. With all of the tension in the house from the
drastically different points of view, they must figure out how to coexist. Sarah and her father find their
bond through the joys of cannons, which also leads Sarah to the conclusion that they are not as
different as she once thought. This story goes to great lengths to show the reader that just because
people have differences, does not mean that they cannot or do not have similarities as well.
How can two people holding diametrically opposed political, social, and cultural views peacefully
coexist in the same household?
Sarah and her dad experienced a great deal of conflict with them having opposing viewpoints on many
political, social, and cultural issues. Even with all of this conflict felt by Sarah, she was able to see that
her and her dad are not as different as she may have thought. To be able to coexist ... Show more

understand that as a family, and a person in general, we must respect each other s stances. I also
believe that to coexist with someone with opposing views to yourself, you must realize that they have
had their own experiences and their own lives that have led them to these views and that you must be
as willing to listen to their reasoning as you are to explain your own reasoning. Basically, it is all
about respect. By giving each other ample time to explain and listen to their arguments two people

Poetry By John Keats And Ode On Melancholy
Poetry is a literary work which is portrayed by the expression of feelings and ideas by poets using a
distinctive style or rhythmic pattern. It is used to convey many poets ideas and emotions in a way that
is vivid and imaginative. Poetry allows the reader to imagine what the poet is describing through
sensual descriptions and other literary devices that invite them to picture life in the eyes of the poet. In
the poems Ode to a Nightingale and Ode on Melancholy by John Keats, both poems stimulate an
emotional response through their meaning. They describe that while in most cases joy can be
experienced through feeling pain, fulfillment of happiness comes from living and thinking
passionately. In order to experience joy and the wonderful things in life, you have to experience pain
first and also surround yourself with the beauty of the gift of life and its many offerings. John Keats
conveys this in his poetry by using literary devices such as imagery, personification, alliteration, and
various sensual descriptions to describe the feeling of joy and happiness that can be experienced in
many different ways throughout both poems. Although John Keats was not one of the many well
known poets of his time, his poetry began to influence a diverse range of poets and writers after his
death by the end of the 19th century. Keats, Born in 1795, the son of a stable keeper, was raised in
Moorfields, London where he used many of his feelings throughout his life in his poetry. He

Save a Life and Adopt from an Animal Shelter
There are great benefits to adopting animals from an animal shelter. One of the biggest is you ll be
saving two life s, the dog or cat you ll be adopting and the one that will be taking it place. Also every
dog and cat entering the shelter are screened for good health and receive all the necessary shots and
are spayed or neutered before they leave to their forever home. Furthermore, the shelter staff will
provide adoption counseling to ensure the right animal is selected for you and your family s needs. All
of this is provide in the adoption fee and is far less than buying a dog or cat from a pet store or
breeder.
The Humane Society of the United States estimates around 6 8 million dogs and cats enter shelters
each year. Sadly, due to the limited space at shelters and too few people adopting, 3 4 million dogs and
cats are euthanized each year in the United States. It is truly shocking and sad to thinking almost three
million dogs and cats are euthanized each year. Most people do not want to adopt a dog or cat from a
shelter because they do not know what they are getting themselves into. Some of the most common
misconceptions of why animals end up in shelters was they have been abused or they have done
something wrong to end up in an animal shelter. Surprisingly this is far from the truth, most animals
are surrendered because of people reasons such as divorces, moves, lack of time, and financial reasons
are just some of the common reasons pets lost their home.

The Influence Of The Nigerian Oil Production
The Nigerian oil production has been an issue that has become a cruse to the people for so many
years. According to reports, the oil production has lubricated to Nigeria s failure because it has
damaged the economy as well as the environment and democracy. Anyone would think that a country
that has an enormous resource of petroleum would be economically stable but this is not the case in
Nigeria. For many years Nigeria has suffered effects directly as well indirectly from the oil industry.
For my research I am drawing from two sets of sources. I will be referring to the books that I have
researched as my A sources. The newspaper articles will be referred as my B sources in this paper.
Through out my paper, I will show you how and explain why the media today only reports one side of
the story while the books on my geopolitical topic will tell the background to the events occurring.
The book, The Influencing Machine: Brooke Gladstone on the Media, written by Brooke Gladstone is
a graphic novel that tries to decipher the rapidly changing media business and the way people interact
with it. It traces the origins of modern journalism back to the Mayans and walks through the
journalistic roots in the cultures of ancient Rome, Britain, and Revolutionary and early America. The
book then dives into contemporary media condition. The media has become something that we love
and hate at the same time. Everything we hate about the media today was present at its creation: its

However, the Project Director acknowledges that there was an underestimate to the sheer volume of

their own churches with people who have nothing to do with the military. Even if the work of this

this training is the continuation and deepening of the topics by the state s 4 brigade chaplains. Each
chaplain is responsibly to develop a yearly training plan for their subordinate ministry teams. 2 of the
4 brigade chaplains plan to evaluate CALLS training and then write their own additions which address
areas they are specifically seeing among their smaller population of troops. This means that CALLS
will be even more specialized and precise for the soldier needing to receive pastoral counseling from
their chaplain. Furthermore, the Project Director could make this a required new training for all
chaplain candidates in the state prior to them going to a battalion ministry for observation. Application
beyond the state of Arkansas is easily achievable. Two areas remain open for an immediate impact on
chaplains across all components but specifically

Group Climate In 12 Angry Men
The 1957 film version of 12 Angry Men depicts the nature of a small group setting. Within this film,
we can see the group as a system, the development of group climate, and the different roles portrayed
in a group. Eleven out of the twelve jurors voted the boy on trial guilty when they were initially asked
their vote. Later throughout the movie, the group went into detail on the trail, thanks to Juror 8, and
eventually changed their vote. If it weren t for the call for communication on the topic, the boy who
was being tried would have been sentenced to death. Juror 2 was the most soft spoken of the group.
He plays the role of the newcomer and shows signs of insecurity which leads to him not being taken
seriously and is often talked over by the other members. When asked for his vote he stated Oh...well, I
just think he s guilty... I mean no one proved otherwise. Not only does this make him seem insecure

Group climate is defined as being the emotional atmosphere and the enveloping tone that is created by
the way we communicate in groups. A factor that plays largely in the film is the literal climate of the

the pressure builds and personalities clash, you see the men go from being hot, to literally drenched in
sweat. whenever someone makes a personal attack that is out of line, you can notice that the jurors
wipe their foreheads. the group climate is becoming to hot for some of the jurors to handle. The most
noticeable symbol of the heat/group climate is the fan. Throughout the duration of the movie, the fan
does not work and things get heated between the jurors. Unnecessary arguments, blatant disrespect,
and even threats of violence occur during the time that the fan is off. Its when the fan turns on that the
group vote turns from 50/50 to the favor being not

Attitude And Sense Of Power In The Little Rock Nine
A person s place in society is decided by those who have power, nevertheless how one perceives
themselves influences that status. Looking deeply into the causes of Minnijean Brown s expulsion, it
is revealed that challenging episodes and the unjust actions of others all contributed towards the abrupt
end of her tormented days at Little Rock Central High School. If Minnijean had not faced the
prejudice and hatred so prevalent in the South during the late 1950 s, it is safe to say she would not
have felt the need to retaliate. At the start of the analysis, the documentary suggests that Minnijean is
expelled because she dumps chili on a white student s head; however, further investigation reveals
there is more to the story, and additional documentation indicates that the expulsion has less to do with
a specific incident and more to do with Minnijean s attitude and sense of place.
In the 1987, Eyes on the Prize, it is conveyed that Minnijean Brown is expelled from school when she
dumps a bowl of chili on a white student s head, knowing she would be facing consequences. Ernest
Green of the Little Rock Nine recollects, It was the first time that anybody . . . had seen someone
black retaliate in that sense (Doc. A). Even though Minnijean was the only one in control of her
actions, she had been harrassed for months, students calling her an n word. So when a white boy
decided to hound her in the lunch line, it can be interpreted that she was on her last straw. Craig Rains,

How To Acid Affect My Mood
Tracked Data and Hypothesis: First, I decided to track my sleep and how it affects my mood because I
wanted to determine if there was an amount of sleep which helped me have a positive mood. This
could be useful, especially during the school year, to help me have a positive outlook amidst a
stressful atmosphere. I hypothesized that not getting enough sleep, as well as, sleeping too much will
have a negative affect on my mood. However, I also included outside influences because no matter
how much sleep I get on a certain day, if something negative happens I will most likely let it affect my
mood. While compiling my data for this assignment I also stopped taking oral contraceptives which
greatly impacted my menstrual cycle. Because of this, I also decided to track my cycle and determine

Comparing Traditional Chinese Medicine with South African Zulu Illness and Healing Traditional
Medicine is a term used for all type of unscientific knowledge and belief used within various cultures.
To the eye most cultures are very different, but when treating disease or illness some cultures are quite
alike. Some may treat different ailments the same way from culture to culture, or they can use the
same type of treatment for something completely different based upon their beliefs. Let s see what
similarities and difference come up when comparing two different types of healing. Being compared

Modern Vs. Ancient Cyberspace

Modern vs. Ancient in Cyberspace
The Big Bang created the energy and matter to create the universe, and Bob Kahn and Vint Cerf
invented TCP and IP which created the protocols that built the internet. Without the aforementioned,
technically cyberspace couldn t exist, but the fact that it does exist, it not only has physical
components in an electric, virtual world, but it can effectively become an intangible idea which is
debated and analyzed. What makes the internet somewhat unique is that it is an artificial alternative
realm where we humans can think, speak, and act. We have unique lives on the internet and web. We
can search for info in an encyclopedia, post photos, stream music, start revolutions, buy drugs and
weapons, and hack the pentagon, all through an electric system connected to billions of other devices.
Those who connect to the internet all bear liberty to act, in an almost state of nature way. Yet, you are
subject to the internet as soon as you are connected. Thus, based on the evolution of the Internet,
certainly different political philosophers would have competing visions, ancient versus modern, about
its current state and how to handle political or governing policies moving forward.
To be able to properly analyze and apply political theories to a cyber realm, we must understand that
connecting to the internet is much like a social contract. When you sign on the internet you are

Warrantless Searches
How Do We Justify Warrantless Searches?
1) Law enforcement officers can conduct warrantless searches for a variety of reasons. Some of the
benefits are not having to wait for a judge of magistrate to sign off on it. If you can obtain consent
from an individual it must be voluntary and stay within its scope, as well as the person giving consent
must have the authority to do so. The search incident to lawful arrest exception is used every time an
officer makes an arrest, this is to ensure their safety, prevent escape, and prevent destruction of
evidence. This could be a body search, or a search within the area within a person s immediate control.
Police may use warrantless searches when exigent circumstances arise, such as when a warrant may
be impractical, useless, dangerous, or unnecessary. These include danger of physical harm to officer or
destruction of evidence, searches in hot pursuit of dangerous suspects, danger to a third person, and
driving while intoxicated. Police can also use the special needs beyond law enforcement exception for
public school searches, testing students for drugs, airport searches and searches of probationers and
parolees.
2) To balance an individual s rights against the 4th amendment, as well as protect the interests of Law
Enforcement there are a few things we need to do. The officer needs ... Show more content on

Effects of Alcohol Abuse
Alcohol abuse
The term alcohol abuse in this case encompasses harmful use of alcohol and misuse of alcohol
resulting from dependence. The experience of alcohol abuse can have far reaching consequences on
the family, the community, and the nation. According to NIDA, drug and substance abuse costs the
nation $600 Billion every year. This cost factors in crime, healthcare, and lost productivity. Alcohol
accounts for 40% of this cost. It is, therefore, necessary, within the context of the family, to delve into
the treatment and support of people who abuse alcohol
The health profile of alcohol abusers is quite complex because it transcends gender, age, race, social
profile, and economic conditions. This means that the homeless adolescent might abuse alcohol and
the wealthy socialite may similarly abuse alcohol (NCETA, 2004). Therefore, the effects alcohol and
complications that health providers face when dealing with this group widely vary. However, it is
possible to paint a general picture of the health risks, challenges, and accompanying conditions.
Alcohol abusers have a higher risk for health problems than non users. Harmful drinking increases the
likelihood of developing cirrhosis, acute pancreatitis and some types of cancer such as breast cancer or
mouth cancer. Furthermore, excessive alcohol consumption puts young people and women at risk of
harm related to alcohol. In young people, it can hamper development and damage organs, while in
women may harm an unborn child

This essay will discuss the differences between the two architects, Le Corbusier and Laurie Baker and
how concerns such as sustainability and climate change relates to contemporary visual culture. Le
Corbusier was born in Switzerland on October 6th, 1887 and died in France on August 27th, 1965.
Corbusier was known for his minimalist designs and theoretical implementations to his designs.
Corbusier uses what he titles it to be the five points of a new architecture and in these points, it is clear
to see that Corbusier prioritises aesthetics over function. Laurie Baker was born in England on March
2nd, 1917 and died in India on April 1st, 2007. Baker looked at both technical and aesthetic qualities
equally and did not prioritise in one. Baker constantly considers the way to provide an eco friendly
way to produce something whereas Corbusier s designs involved heavy machinery which produces
negative contributions to the environment. This essay mainly use the recourses, Architecture of rural
housing: some issues in India by Romi Khosla, Le Corbusier s Ruins: The Changing Face of

Understanding The Complexity Of The Jaw

Osteonecrosis of the Jaw The human body is made up of living cells that keep a constant supply of
blood flowing to the bones in order to replenish and retain their healthy function. When insufficient
blood flow is produced for our bones they begin to become weaker and lose their vitality and
ultimately collapse. It can occur in any bone of the body including the jaw. This condition is known as
osteonecrosis of the jaw. This is a newly recognized condition that continues to be researched to in
order to provide patients with optimal care. In order to understand the complexity of this disorder you
must comprehend how the condition is diagnosed, the risk factors, and how it can be treated.
Osteonecrosis, osteo meaning bone and necrosis meaning death, is bone losing vitality and function.
This condition occurs when bone is no longer supplied with blood. Osteonecrosis of the jaw, ONJ,
exposes the jaw bone because it is no longer attached to the gingiva and has remained in this state for
over eight weeks. In the initial stages of ONJ, there are no noticeable symptoms or indications but as
the disease progresses, pain within the joints is common. As ONJ further develops the signs and
symptoms include local pain, soft tissue swelling or inflammation, previously secured teeth are now
unstable, and exposure of bone. Sudden changes in the wellness of mucosal tissues, mucosa unable to

Analysis Of My Neighbour Totoro
The adventurous, visually enchanting animated Japanese movie, My Neighbour Totoro, by Hayao
Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli released in 1988 in Japan, attempts to show the viewers the innocence and
the sense of community in Japan before the prevalent industrialization and economic boom. The
movie is set in the countryside away from the big industrialized cities. The main characters are the
schoolgirl, Satsuki Kusakabe, and her younger sister, Mei Kusakabe. Their days are brightened thanks
to the spirit of the forest, Totoro.
Hayao Miyazaki, who is born in 1941, is incorporating his own childhood in the film. Furthermore, he
focuses on the historical time the movie is set. Meanwhile, noting that the movie is made in 1988
which is during the period of the economic bubble, he reminds us of the simple Japan in the 1950s
before the economic boom occupied the people of this country. In contrast to the past, people who live
in the city area do not get involved with one another s business despite how Japan has practiced
chonaikai for having an intimate sense of community within the neighbourhood ever since the revival
of chonaikai after World War 2. Hayao Miyazaki is able to reveal this specific ambience of the
Japanese community in the movie when the Kusakabe s neighbours, a young boy, and grandmother,
come to help the Kusakabe family move into their new old rotten house. It is also seen when all the
neighbours nearby help Satsuki look for her lost sister. Although the neighbours do

The Commodification And Objectification Of Women In Mass...
The commodification or objectification of women in mass media has long sorted history. The concept
of a commodity and the word itself changes meaning when dealt with in various capital industries
which engage in trade. For the purpose of exploration, the meaning of commodity shall be narrowed
down to an economic good, that is subject to ready exchange or exploitation within a market .
A trend that is developing in entertainment media today is the objectification of women in society.
Specifically in indian movies, music videos, music, and television, there is strong focus on women as
sexual objects rather than women. This is detrimental to society because the media is creating social
stereotypes for both men and women that can result in unhealthy social and physical habits. The issue
is especially prevalent because the more the media uses sexual content regarding women, the more
viewers seem to buy into them. Thus, the media is able to shape the culture s sense of dating, romance,
sex, and what is ideal within society. The sexual attitudes of society are shaped and that has effects
that can affect all demographics among society.
Advertising and media images that encourage girls to focus on looks and sexuality are harmful to their
emotional and physical health. Women develop the ideal of seeing their bodies as not their personal
self, but as sexual objects. That unhealthy train of thought can develop into recurring problems such as
eating disorders, low self esteem, and

The Role of Persuasion in Advertising and Compulsive Buying Persuasion can be used as one of the
most influential ways to convince people to do anything. A key way to using persuasion is to influence
the audience; there is always a catch. The persuader intends to influence the persuadee to their means
to an end or goal. Companies use persuasion in many around the world. Persuasion is worldwide,
companies are not the only ones that use it. Children use persuasion daily to convince their parents as

What Is Democracy In American Democracy
Democracies have been around for hundreds of years, dating back to before the word democracy was
created by the ancient Greeks. Democracies give the citizens of the nation power and let them have a
say so in politics. Also, the people have many freedoms guaranteed to them unlike other types of
government. The people elect local, state, and national government officials. The local government
deals with many different cases. State government shares most of its power with the national
government. Lastly, the national government oversees all the smaller forms of government in the land.
[Thesis] American Democracy fits the definition of democracy because the people are represented

specific areas known as counties, towns, or districts. We as the people vote on councilman to represent
our county. The councilman vote on and determine how much money our schools can spend. They can
also enact on our counties taxes. Local government can t pass or enforce laws that might put judgment
on a much bigger area other than its own. We have a choice in who we vote for to make sure we are
represented fairly. As a person who makes us a part of our county, district, or town. We all want the
best for the next generation for our sons and daughters. The people who we vote on as our councilman

relatable and timeless play of all time, Romeo and Juliet. The ill fated stories about the death marked
love between two love struck teenagers, are far too similar to ignore. Not to mention the beginnings
and endings are the exactly identical. Beneath the surface of these two works of literary art lies an

Therefore, the series of unfortunate events encouraged the death of Romeo and Juliet, it did not define
their choices which were primarily responsible for their deaths. The lioness is a symbol of chance and
series of unfortunate events. In Romeo in Juliet , Romeo acts quickly and irrationally after learning of
Juliet s death, a prime example of his poor decision making in the face of strife. Shakespeare said,
Man: Then she is well, and nothing can be ill. Her body sleeps in Capel s monument, and her
immortal with angels lives. I saw her laid low in her kindred s vault. And presently took post to tell
you. O, pardon me for bringing these ill news, Since you did not leave it for my office, Sir. Romeo: Is
it e en so? Then I defy you, stars! Thou knows my lodging,. Get me ink and paper and hire post
horses. I will hence tonight. ( 6.2.17 26.) This shows how quickly Romeo made his decisions as well
as the other characters in the play. As he says I defy you stars he has already made up his mind that he
no longer wished to live. As does Juliet later on in the story and when Thisbe found Pyramus dead she
acted the same on the same irrational behavior. Pyramus makes the same mistake as Romeo, as Thisbe
followed suit to Juliet. Not to mention that they met alone, in the woods, as it was

Many different variables play a part in finding a solution to help end child labor. Unfortunately, this
form of labor plays a large role in Mexico s economy. Although the country has anti child labor laws,
the children of Mexico are forced to work for a variety of reasons. Most families force the children to
work due to their struggle with poverty and lack of income. Although some organizations (like the
North American Free Trade Agreement) look at solutions to help boost Mexico s economy, large
international corporations enter the country s struggling economy capitalizing on it s low cost
manufacturing and wages, thus forcing children to work. Solutions must be looked at in order to stop
kids from working their childhood away instead of getting an education to ultimately help Mexico s
economy.
The link between Mexico and poverty is a large reason why children are forced to work in factories.
Poverty began to be an issue for Mexico starting many years ago. In the 1940s, when industrialization
began taking place, Mexico s economy was growing at a rate of 6 per cent per year (Latapi and
Gonzalez). This increase in the economy created two new social classes: the urban middle class and
the new working class. By the late 70s, at least half of the working middle class held jobs related in
manufacturing (Latapi and Gonzalez). This employment gave wages high enough to allow one worker

Frank Gehry Vs Postmodern Architecture
American postmodern architecture has more focus on culture, the specific theme of that moment, but
the problem of formalization started to show up. Deconstructivism, a critical architectural movement
in the postmodern age, usually has nice control on the structural surface as the building s skin and use
the randomly geometric shapes to show the twisting architectural elements.
Frank Gehry is a typical post modernism and deconstructivism architect, Americans like to call him
another Frank because of Frank Lloyd Wright who was famous as a modernism architect. And he did
not like to be constantly compared with Wright, emphasizing their differences. Under the influence of
deconstructivism, a lot of Frank Gehry s design shows full comprehension of the structures and the
principle of designing by using the twisted shapes and some uncovered structure form. In this passage,
I will analyze the influences of Frank Gehry s design; the extent of influence that he got from Frank
Lloyd Wright, and compare and contrast their works by using Frank Gehry s house and Jacob s house
by Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Wright used colors that are often found in nature. He used earthy tones, the materials used in his
designs include brick, clay, concrete, rocks, and wood. With a symmetric style, he used straight lines
and familiar shapes for different design elements. The Elam home in Austin, Minnesota and Jacob s
house are good examples. Compared with Wright s design, Frank Gehry usually used vibrant colors
such as silver, bright blue, orange, and red. Stainless steel was used in the majority of his design, and
he still used other materials like brick and concrete as well. Different with Wright, Gehry used curvy
lines and other shapes in his design work. The Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota
skillfully used curves which is different than Gehry s own house to which used angled lines and
pieced triangle shapes, shows the influence he got from deconstructivism In Gehry s house, he used
big openings, unique wall surfaces and light conditions in a large room or visible framework, they all
showing the postmodern style and making relationships between architecture and its origin. Gehry
tried to make a very tough sculptural

The Doctrine Of The Church
There are going to be times in our lives when we disagree with what someone says or another person s
opinions on a particular matter. It s unlikely that we will agree and be content with everything that
happens in our lives as we do not live in a utopian world. It is also inevitable at one time or another
that we will disagree with what the Church is teaching us especially when it comes to moral issues
such as divorce, birth control, and abortion. This is called non reception. When non reception ensues
in the Church, the teaching in question is ineffectively expressed or judged to be unbelievable by a
large population of good, faithful Catholics (Kennedy).
As Catholics, we should believe that the Church has been given the authority by God to make
decisions regarding moral issues. The Church teaches us that we should listen and follow the
teachings of our leaders, even when we do not understand. However, it is extremely difficult to follow
through with something that you don t understand. If you were given a task at work to accomplish,
and did not know how to effectively complete it, what would you do? I personally would ask
questions, a lot of questions, until I fully understood the task at hand. Speaking on the topic of moral
issues and divorce, there are a lot of questions that could be asked to fully understand what divorce is
in the Catholic Church. This topic could pose questions such as: Why is divorce a sin? Are there
certain circumstances where it is allowed? What

Externalities

An Externality is when costs or benefits of certain activities spill or fall into third parties that have
nothing to do with the initial situation in hand; its like a side effect or consequence of an activity that
affects other parties who did not choose to incur that cost or benefit.
Like you can see there can be either costs, or benefits that affect those third parties. When it is a cost
that is imposed on third parties, it is called a negative externality; negative externalities occur when a
decision or activity imposes costs on anyone that is not involved in the making of the decision, that is
if a decision imposes any kind of external cost, which are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the government gets involved and taxes goods and services, it raises revenue for the
government, decreases the quantity of goods produced and consumed and therefore, both consumers
and the producer of the good will pay, splitting the costs of the tax and leveling up with society s.
Fees and regulations are similar to taxes. The government charge all firms the same fee and to set the
same standard for all firms. This will achieve the same level of emission reduction at a lower cost for
all firms and firms will have an incentive to reduce their emissions.
There are also solutions to a positive externality. That is to get the decision maker to internalize the
external effect. The difference with this and the negative externality is that with the negative
externality they would have to try to get the decision maker to see higher costs and with the positive
externality the government needs to somehow make the decision more appealing to the private
decision maker.
A great example of this is getting a degree; it might not be as important or beneficial to you to get a
certain degree but the benefits that you could give the society with that degree can be significant, so
the government creates scholarships and incentives to motivate you and make it easier for you to get
an education and ultimately be part of the working society.

Causes of World War 2 The causes of World War 2 was something that happened during the 1900 s.
Many people believed that this all happened for a reason, which it did. Although, there were many
reasons why World War 2 had started. Some were, The League of Failure of Nations, Pearl Harbor,

World War 2 started in September 1939 when both France and Britain declared war on Germany as a

winter, along with dwindling food, medical supplies, spelled the end for German troops there, and the
last of them surrendered on January 31,1943 (History.com staff). While WW2 was going on, there had
been a lot going on. British and German were the ones who were causing some sort of shipping, but
however, boats had been sinking almost up to 4 months, which was in the beginning of World War
Two (History.com staff). On the part of Germany and the allies of the west led to talk in the news

Nurse Leader Essay
Nurse Leader
Leadership does not always come with a title or prestige. Every nurse has within themselves qualities
that make them a great leader. Leadership by definition, is a combination of intrinsic personality traits,
learned leadership skills, and characteristics of the situation (Cherry Jacob (2013 p. 335). A leader is
one who has the capacity and skills to direct or encourage others in efforts to achieve an outcome. I
recently completed a self assessment on my perceived leadership abilities. The survey was called the
Nurse Manager Skills Inventory (Nurse Manager Leadership Partnership, 2008). It consists of four

Improvement Organization. I am surrounded by people who are striving to better health care for all
residents in Wisconsin and I am thrilled to be part of this team!
Personal Journey Disciplines I have the opportunity to participate in shared leadership as I lead several
statewide initiatives in regards to stroke care. I have had the sometimes uncomfortable opportunity

been made. This makes one a good leader to thoughtfully contemplate behaviors.
Reflective Practice Reference Behaviors/Tenets Personal reflection is individualized and as such there
are several methods that can be utilized. The tenant I need to personally work on is the appreciation of
ambiguity. I do appreciate everyone s uniqueness and value every person as a holistic individual.
However, I am definitely not perfect at

Myocardial Infraction Case Study
Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine the cause of Mr Smith s chest pain and to consider the
consequences of this diagnosis for the patient. An enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was
performed to detect the presence of cardiac protein, cTnI, in the patient s serum at two time points: on
admission to hospital and 12 hours after. Approximately 22ng/ml of cTnI was detected in the serum
taken from Mr. Smith 12 hours after hospital admission, indicating the cause of Mr. Smith s chest pain
can be reasonably diagnosed as a result of a myocardial infraction.
Introduction:

The cause of Mr. Smith s chest pain can be reasonably concluded to be as a result of an myocardial
infraction, since serum results taken at T0 (no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, 22ng/ml was detected in the patient s serum at 12 hours after presentation to the hospital.
Thus it can be concluded that Mr Smith most likely had a myocardial infraction and the cause of Mr.
Smith s chest pain. These results supports the hypothesis suggesting that Mr. Smith s chest pain was
caused by a myocardial infraction, which detected by the release of a cardiac protein.

  • 2. The Political And Cultural Unrest Of The Middle East Essay For over a decade the United States has been entrenched in a war to resolve the political and cultural unrest in the Middle East. For many, the country of Turkey is the crucible of this region where the intersections of the main religious and cultural elements collide. Additionally, as a crossroads to Europe from Asia, Africa and the entire Middle East, Turkey remains an inherently important country due to its strategic geographic location. The pressures that are exerted on Turkey over the past century have led many within its borders to question its allegiances and the destiny of the country. Should it maintain the status quo based on the post WWI political borders or should it pursue a return to times of the Ottoman Empire when it sat as the seat of power for what many would consider the Caliphate that presided over those lands at the time? As a strategic crossroads in many aspects, Turkey will remain important to United States policy in the region. As the United States Secretary of State, I propose two courses of action (COAs) to aid in the pursuit of U.S. interests in both Turkey and the region: first, strengthening the military partnership and enhancing the economic collaboration benefiting the U.S. and Turkey and keeping them on the path of western style democracy with close ties with the United States; second, using diplomacy and information to increase Turkey s participation with western organizations and highlight the benefits of the partnerships while also ... • 7. Poetry By John Keats And Ode On Melancholy Poetry is a literary work which is portrayed by the expression of feelings and ideas by poets using a distinctive style or rhythmic pattern. It is used to convey many poets ideas and emotions in a way that is vivid and imaginative. Poetry allows the reader to imagine what the poet is describing through sensual descriptions and other literary devices that invite them to picture life in the eyes of the poet. In the poems Ode to a Nightingale and Ode on Melancholy by John Keats, both poems stimulate an emotional response through their meaning. They describe that while in most cases joy can be experienced through feeling pain, fulfillment of happiness comes from living and thinking passionately. In order to experience joy and the wonderful things in life, you have to experience pain first and also surround yourself with the beauty of the gift of life and its many offerings. John Keats conveys this in his poetry by using literary devices such as imagery, personification, alliteration, and various sensual descriptions to describe the feeling of joy and happiness that can be experienced in many different ways throughout both poems. Although John Keats was not one of the many well known poets of his time, his poetry began to influence a diverse range of poets and writers after his death by the end of the 19th century. Keats, Born in 1795, the son of a stable keeper, was raised in Moorfields, London where he used many of his feelings throughout his life in his poetry. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Looking deeply into the causes of Minnijean Brown s expulsion, it is revealed that challenging episodes and the unjust actions of others all contributed towards the abrupt end of her tormented days at Little Rock Central High School. If Minnijean had not faced the prejudice and hatred so prevalent in the South during the late 1950 s, it is safe to say she would not have felt the need to retaliate. At the start of the analysis, the documentary suggests that Minnijean is expelled because she dumps chili on a white student s head; however, further investigation reveals there is more to the story, and additional documentation indicates that the expulsion has less to do with a specific incident and more to do with Minnijean s attitude and sense of place. We can search for info in an encyclopedia, post photos, stream music, start revolutions, buy drugs and weapons, and hack the pentagon, all through an electric system connected to billions of other devices. Those who connect to the internet all bear liberty to act, in an almost state of nature way. Yet, you are subject to the internet as soon as you are connected. Thus, based on the evolution of the Internet, certainly different political philosophers would have competing visions, ancient versus modern, about its current state and how to handle political or governing policies moving forward. To be able to properly analyze and apply political theories to a cyber realm, we must understand that connecting to the internet is much like a social contract. Some of the benefits are not having to wait for a judge of magistrate to sign off on it. If you can obtain consent from an individual it must be voluntary and stay within its scope, as well as the person giving consent must have the authority to do so. The search incident to lawful arrest exception is used every time an officer makes an arrest, this is to ensure their safety, prevent escape, and prevent destruction of evidence. This could be a body search, or a search within the area within a person s immediate control. Police may use warrantless searches when exigent circumstances arise, such as when a warrant may be impractical, useless, dangerous, or unnecessary. These include danger of physical harm to officer or destruction of evidence, searches in hot pursuit of dangerous suspects, danger to a third person, and driving while intoxicated. Police can also use the special needs beyond law enforcement exception for public school searches, testing students for drugs, airport searches and searches of probationers and parolees. 2) To balance an individual s rights against the 4th amendment, as well as protect the interests of Law Enforcement there are a few things we need to do. The experience of alcohol abuse can have far reaching consequences on the family, the community, and the nation. According to NIDA, drug and substance abuse costs the nation $600 Billion every year. This cost factors in crime, healthcare, and lost productivity. Alcohol accounts for 40% of this cost. It is, therefore, necessary, within the context of the family, to delve into the treatment and support of people who abuse alcohol The health profile of alcohol abusers is quite complex because it transcends gender, age, race, social profile, and economic conditions. This means that the homeless adolescent might abuse alcohol and the wealthy socialite may similarly abuse alcohol (NCETA, 2004). Therefore, the effects alcohol and complications that health providers face when dealing with this group widely vary. However, it is possible to paint a general picture of the health risks, challenges, and accompanying conditions. Alcohol abusers have a higher risk for health problems than non users. Harmful drinking increases the likelihood of developing cirrhosis, acute pancreatitis and some types of cancer such as breast cancer or mouth cancer. Analysis Of My Neighbour Totoro The adventurous, visually enchanting animated Japanese movie, My Neighbour Totoro, by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli released in 1988 in Japan, attempts to show the viewers the innocence and the sense of community in Japan before the prevalent industrialization and economic boom. The movie is set in the countryside away from the big industrialized cities. The main characters are the schoolgirl, Satsuki Kusakabe, and her younger sister, Mei Kusakabe. Their days are brightened thanks to the spirit of the forest, Totoro. Hayao Miyazaki, who is born in 1941, is incorporating his own childhood in the film. Furthermore, he focuses on the historical time the movie is set. Meanwhile, noting that the movie is made in 1988 which is during the period of the economic bubble, he reminds us of the simple Japan in the 1950s before the economic boom occupied the people of this country. In contrast to the past, people who live in the city area do not get involved with one another s business despite how Japan has practiced chonaikai for having an intimate sense of community within the neighbourhood ever since the revival of chonaikai after World War 2. Hayao Miyazaki is able to reveal this specific ambience of the Japanese community in the movie when the Kusakabe s neighbours, a young boy, and grandmother, come to help the Kusakabe family move into their new old rotten house. A trend that is developing in entertainment media today is the objectification of women in society. Specifically in indian movies, music videos, music, and television, there is strong focus on women as sexual objects rather than women. This is detrimental to society because the media is creating social stereotypes for both men and women that can result in unhealthy social and physical habits. The issue is especially prevalent because the more the media uses sexual content regarding women, the more viewers seem to buy into them. Thus, the media is able to shape the culture s sense of dating, romance, sex, and what is ideal within society. The sexual attitudes of society are shaped and that has effects that can affect all demographics among society. Advertising and media images that encourage girls to focus on looks and sexuality are harmful to their emotional and physical health. Deconstructivism, a critical architectural movement in the postmodern age, usually has nice control on the structural surface as the building s skin and use the randomly geometric shapes to show the twisting architectural elements. Frank Gehry is a typical post modernism and deconstructivism architect, Americans like to call him another Frank because of Frank Lloyd Wright who was famous as a modernism architect. And he did not like to be constantly compared with Wright, emphasizing their differences. Under the influence of deconstructivism, a lot of Frank Gehry s design shows full comprehension of the structures and the principle of designing by using the twisted shapes and some uncovered structure form. In this passage, I will analyze the influences of Frank Gehry s design; the extent of influence that he got from Frank Lloyd Wright, and compare and contrast their works by using Frank Gehry s house and Jacob s house by Frank Lloyd Wright Frank Wright used colors that are often found in nature. He used earthy tones, the materials used in his designs include brick, clay, concrete, rocks, and wood. With a symmetric style, he used straight lines and familiar shapes for different design elements. The Elam home in Austin, Minnesota and Jacob s house are good examples. Compared with Wright s design, Frank Gehry usually used vibrant colors such as silver, bright blue, orange, and red. Stainless steel was used in the majority of his design, and he still used other materials like brick and concrete as well. Different with Wright, Gehry used curvy lines and other shapes in his design work. The Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota skillfully used curves which is different than Gehry s own house to which used angled lines and pieced triangle shapes, shows the influence he got from deconstructivism In Gehry s house, he used big openings, unique wall surfaces and light conditions in a large room or visible framework, they all showing the postmodern style and making relationships between architecture and its origin. This is called non reception. When non reception ensues in the Church, the teaching in question is ineffectively expressed or judged to be unbelievable by a large population of good, faithful Catholics (Kennedy). This will achieve the same level of emission reduction at a lower cost for all firms and firms will have an incentive to reduce their emissions. There are also solutions to a positive externality. That is to get the decision maker to internalize the external effect. The difference with this and the negative externality is that with the negative externality they would have to try to get the decision maker to see higher costs and with the positive externality the government needs to somehow make the decision more appealing to the private decision maker. A great example of this is getting a degree; it might not be as important or beneficial to you to get a certain degree but the benefits that you could give the society with that degree can be significant, so the government creates scholarships and incentives to motivate you and make it easier for you to get an education and ultimately be part of the working society.
