Participation Awards For Children
Participation awards. You ve probably all received one at some one point or another, but has anyone
really wondered why? Why do they exist? What do people think they do? Why would this ever help
anyone, ever?
It s reasonable, as parental figures, to want the best for your children. You re trying to keep your child

Differences Between Haydn And Mozart
In the late eighteenth century, most musicians made money from performing in churches, courts and
even cites. They also did compositions and teaching on commission. As attaining fame with the public
became a chief concern, the musician s composed materials that pleased everyone from aficionados to
the ones with little experience. During this era, two music specialists were known for reaching a
diverse audience with their excellent compositions that have come to epitomise the classic period. No
one did it better that Haydn and Mozart. Their music was outstanding; they created music that was
immediate with a profound and enduring appeal. Though their music was exceptional, they illustrated
differences in which specialised musicians work. (Nettl, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is contrary to what Mozart was working on at this time. By choosing this kind of key, Mozart
illustrates a kind of deliberate conveyance of something diverse, emotional and moodier than past
concertos. According to Alfred Einstein; a German American musicologist, he describes the
importance of different key signatures for Mozart. He says if G minor was the fatalistic key for
Mozart, then C minor was the dramatic one. The core differentiates the aggressive harmonies and
lyrical passages. He adds that the lyrical quality is usually outburst by the gloomy emotions. After
Mozart had established this furious and tempestuous mood through the use of this signature key, the
form of the piece remains to engender this unique departure from the previous piano concertos by
Mozart (Alfred Einstein, 1962) Typically, Mozart concertos start with dialogue like an interface
between the instrumentalist and also the orchestra; this can be not a similar with K491 wherever the
instrumentalist newer plays the initial four notes of the musical organisation introduction. The
exclusion of this dialogue at the start makes a lot of aggressive, foreboding sound. The previous
concertos did a back and forth sharing of themes at the beginning of the track. (Eva and Paul,

Geography Compare And Contrast Essay
1. Compare and contrast the structural features found in convergent and divergent ocean basins.
Beginning with the most obvious difference, divergent ocean basins are essentially two plates which
are moving away from one another. Contrasting, convergent ocean basins are essentially two plates
moving towards one another. For the second difference, I want to focus on what is happening to the
Earth s crust at each point. In divergent ocean basins, new crust is being formed as the two plates
move father and farther away. In contrast, crust is being destroyed at converging ocean basins.
Essentially, the two converging plates (and their crust) will collide and form a subduction zone
(specific with the crust density). This zone is essentially characterized ... Show more content on

Submarine canyons can be found at active and passive margins, while deep sea trenches can only be
found at active margins. The primary reason for this difference is specific to how submarine canyons
and deep sea trenches are formed. If we think back to what occurs at active and passive margins, it
becomes apparent that deep sea trenches are only formed from some form of a tectonic collision.
Submarine canyons, presenting at passive and active margins, are largely formed by turbidity currents.
The last difference between a submarine canyon and a deep sea trench is placement /shape. The most
apparent location of a submarine canyon is on the down slope of a continental shelf; furthermore, as
the slope continues downward the canyon essentially ends by formation of a deep sea fan. While I was
supplementing the text, one perfect analogy for a deep sea fan (more of a visual aid) that I found
online was those formed at the opening/mouth of a river. Essentially, as sediment continually flows
over a specific path, the path begins to erode and you get fan like formations from the mouth. In
contrast, deep sea trenches are more prominent and sharp in nature. Rather than running perpendicular
to a continental slope, deep sea trenches are physical depression originating from the ocean floor and
protruding downward in a V shaped

Expanding Our Horizons – Animal Welfare Concerns
After a state of the art breakthrough at a scientific laboratory, several tested animals became capable
of human intellectual capabilities and emotions. During an unseen event, they escape the facility, no
longer remaining hostage as test experiments. Ten years pass and now the roles have reversed. These
super hybrid animals are now the top of the food chain and humans are their pawns. In a reversal of
roles, zoos now hold humans in depicted natural environments and local grocery and department
stores are farms where forced humans eat, breed, and slaughter for animal consumption. This change
of events became due to years of neglected rights and abuse to the animals.

The lack of research and public knowledge greatly hindered considerations for animal welfare
including fair and ethical treatment. In order for us as humans to understand animals more thoroughly,
more research studies are required in order to examine the similarities of animal and human relations.
We can further relate with animals if we understand they too have emotions similar to ours and not
outcast them due to their species classification. Even as studies and research conducted prove great
and remarkable results, the public should be aware of the information generated. With the public
aware of such studies, we can finally relate to animals and take in their considerations of how they feel
in certain situations. The implications of this are vast ranging from common household pets, livestock,
to even captive animals within a zoo. Learning these studies and making this knowledge available to
the public could provide helpful insight as what to do in treating situations such as coming across a
bear in the wild.
Research roles of animals have been very beneficial to the human race. Within case studies of animals,
such items as vaccinations, cardiovascular bypass surgery, and treatments for cancer have become
possible (Medina, 2008). It is important to understand the welfare for animals and the research
involved within the process is

Wood Window Maintenance Requirements
Understanding Wood Window Maintenance That Will Be Required If you have ever looked into the
difference between vinyl and wood windows, one of the biggest reasons against wood windows is that
they need maintenance. This may leave you wondering what type of maintenance the window
requires, and if it s enough work to justify getting vinyl. Here are three ways you will be expected to
maintain wood windows if you want them to last. Repair Small Cracks The best way to maintain your
wood windows will be to find small problems before they become big issues. One way to do this is to
look out for small cracks. A common problem with wood is the cracks in the wood is how cold air gets

Pros And Cons Of Agency Theory
Agency theory is concerned with the agency relationships. The two parties have an agency
relationship when they cooperate and engage in association wherein one party the principal delegates
decisions and /or work to another an agent to act on its behalf (Tan Lee, 2015). The important
assumptions underlying agency theory is that potential goal conflicts exists between principals and
agents; each party acts in its own self interest; information asymmetry frequently exists between
principals and agents; agents are more risk averse than the principal; and efficiency is the
effectiveness criterion (Miller Sardais, 2011; Kingston Haijie, 2014). Two potential problems
stemming from this assumption may arise in agency relationships: an agency problem and a risk
sharing problem. An agency problem appears when agents goal differs from the principals and it is
difficult or expensive to verify whether agents have appropriately performed the delegated work.
A risk sharing problem arises when agents have different attitudes towards risk that cause
disagreements about actions to be taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is achieved through improved public service delivery and more informed policy design. In many
countries, especially developing ones, the government fails to deliver key essential services to its
citizens due to problems such as: misallocation of resources, leakages or corruption, weak incentives
or a lack of articulated demand (William, 2002). Similarly, governments often formulate policies in a
discretionary and non transparent manner that goes against the interests and actual priorities of the
poor, these problems are perpetuated because the three key groups of actors in the public policy and
service delivery chain policy makers, service providers and citizens have different (sometimes
conflicting) goals and incentives, compounded by information asymmetries and lack of
communication (William,

The Evolution Of Tattoos Essay
The Evolution of Tattoos They re what you see on your friends, family and people walking on the
streets. This growing debate on tattoos brings me to the point of the evolution of tattoos. Tattoos were
once believed to be a risky trend and are now becoming more of the norm. As we know it tattoos are
not as unusual as they once were. There are many different reasons behind why people get tattoos, for
example personal losses, symbolism, or just the concept of it being art. Most believe tattooing is just
another medium of art and it should be respected along with the tattoo artist who give them. A lot of
people differ in opinion behind what, where, and how people should get their tattoos. A strong topic to
think about is what to get as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So tattoos were used in a symbolic manner. As seen on television, movies about old Egyptian times
embrace their characters with tattoos all over their bodies. But it seems as if in reality old Egyptians
used tattoos as rituals for the gods to help them get something they wanted. The word tattoo comes
from the Polynesian word ta which means to strike something and the Tahitian word tatau which
means to mark something (DBoom). Both ways of saying it make sence and still do explain how
modern day tattoos are done. In 1991 a mummie called Otzi the Ice Man was found in a mountain
range between Italy and Austria, this mummie had to be 5000 years old. The mummie consisted of 57
tattoos around the knees, kidneys, and the ankles. All the tattoos were either vertical or parallel lines
and most likely had to do with therapeutic reasons. The supposed reasoning behind the tattoos were
some sort of treatment for arthritis. Compared to now and the past, the past usage for tattoos usually
had to do with some symbolic reasoning. The Scythians were an ancient people whose graves were
found in the Altai mountains of Southern Siberia. The graves were made of solid ice so the corpses
were preserved very well (MSU). These corpses had tattoos on them of totems and game animals.
These tattoos were symbolic because the game animals let us know that the Scythians liked to hunt.

Comparing Two Theories Of Moral Relativism
The difference between a right action and a wrong action plays a key role in many theories in
philosophy. Morality is an important aspect of life and majority of our actions are dependent on doing
what is moral or immoral. Moral relativism is the theory that defines whether an action is considered
moral or immoral. There are two forms of moral relativism, cultural relativism and individual
relativism, which are two theories about the morality of our actions. The two theories of moral
relativism provide a reasoning for the justification of moral or immoral actions. However, these
theories also present various contradictions that undermine the theories central ideas. Individual
relativism differs from cultural relativism because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One criticism of cultural relativism is that it would not be acceptable to say that another society s
customs are inferior to our own. If morality is based on a culture s rules, it would be hypocritical to
tell another culture that what they are doing is wrong. It cannot be acceptable for one culture to
consider their own culture superior by believing that their set of rules is the true guidance for morality.
I believe this criticism raises an important issue. Since morality is constituted by different rules for
different cultures, there is no way of knowing what they ultimate truth is about what actions are
considered moral or immoral if one thing can be considered good in one society, but bad in another.
Individual relativism has also been challenged because it states the idea that the morality of our
actions can be determined by our own thoughts and intuitions. However, the criticism is that how can
establish morality by our own thinking if different people have conflicting ideas. I agree with this
criticism. There would be no certain way of legitimately establishing the morality of an action if that

Nursing Nurse And Skills On The Management Of Wound
Description
During the first week of our new nurses in a surgical ward, I was supervising one of the
supernumerary nurses. We were looking after a thirty nine year old woman, Ms LC, who had
undergone a laparoscopic peritonectomy. We had to start her on a negative pressure wound therapy
dressing or NPWT; as suggested by wound clinical nurse consultant and the doctors during their ward
round, since this would allow the fast healing of her wound.
I showed the supernumerary nurse the proper way of preparing an NPWT using a non touch sterile
technique, started by slowly cleaning the surrounding skin prior to the application of the pressure
dressing. Since it was the first time of the preceptee to perform a pressure dressing, I have provided
my preceptee the principles of wound management so that it will reinforce the knowledge of the
supervised nurse and skills on the management of wound using NPWT. I also provided the preceptee
the protocols and the wound management chart to take note of the type of solutions to be used in
managing a surgical wound. We also documented in the progress notes what we have performed, and
informed the nurse in charge on the frequency of dressing change in a week.

During the procedure it gave me an opportunity to share my knowledge about the proper management
of a surgical wound. I felt relieved knowing that I was able to develop the skills of my preceptee in the
aspect of wound care and knowing that the patient was also involved in the

Shared Knowledge And Personal Knowledge
Shared knowledge and personal knowledge, although they may come from the same concept of
acquiring them through a variety of situations, it differs on the process of gaining them. Thereupon,
such approach is seen through human sciences and natural sciences. Human sciences portray shared
knowledge through socio psychological experiments and theories created from personal experiences
and circumstances, as well as a set of collective norms and values that change depending on a group of
society or culture. On the other hand, natural sciences are made up of theories, formulation of
hypothesis and through experiments; which are obtained from paradigm shifts where it involves
perception, reasoning, language, and memory. But how does shared knowledge and personal
knowledge differ or are similar in both natural and human sciences?

Triffid
Literature circle
In the past few chapters nothing has actually happened with the Triffids which made myself kind of
bored thinking about what I would do if I was a Triffid. In this essay I will be talking about what I
would do if I were in the place of a Triffid and about why I would do in these situations and I will also
be talking about the several consequences of doing these events.First I will be talking about what I
would do if I were a Triffid.
If I were a Triffid I would stay on a street hidden and I would wait until I found a person that was
alone and nobody could witness him, then I would attack him and I would keep doing that one at a
time for about a week After that I would use the dead bodies everywhere and eat them for the reason
that is how Triffids survive. Then I would travel back and call a dozen Triffids and feed on all the dead
bodies we kill with a limit of 3 a day so they can live longer than other Triffids ... Show more content

One consequence, there would be is that if I kept killing people that I find alone, then the human
population would decrease insanely quickly until there are no creatures left, but Triffids. One other
consequences that could occur is that the Triffids I call could eat all the humans, which is the main
food Triffids eat but if there aren t any humans Triffids would die. The final consequence would be
when I eat the dead bodies that I find that could be extremely dangerous if they have an unknown
disease that might kill the Triffids. These are the consequences that could happen if I were a Triffid.
In conclusion If I were a Triffid I would do varied activities that the Triffid in the book did not do and
I have several reasons why I would do those activities the Triffids didn t do in the previous
chapters. There would be numerous consequences that could happen if I were in the place of a

Zeolite Based Sorbent Coated with Iron for Advanced Oxidation of Trace Organics in Treated
Wastewater
Abstract
Zeolite with an iron loading of 0.11% was used in a set of experiments to determine the possibility of
using zeolite in conjunction with Fenton s reagents in order to destroy p Cresol in an aqueous solution.
The results were compared to a homogenous system at a pH of 2.5 using iron salt with an equivalent
iron concentration of iron amended zeolite and the rate of degradation in the heterogeneous system
using the iron amended zeolite was found to be half. The area of interest would be to use this zeolite at
neutral pH, and it was found that the rate of degradation using the iron amended ... Show more content

Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III).
Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and
Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide
radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction
halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton s
Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required
for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value
required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the process cost prohibitive. In order to
overcome this limitation, it was found that iron amended zeolites could be used to destroy chemicals
in water at nearly neutral pH (3).
Figure 1. Fenton s Reaction producing radicals while cycling iron.
Zeolites are materials composed of silica and alumina that contain micropores capable of adsorbing
chemical compounds. Zeolites are employed primarily to sorb contaminants from water and then
shipped off site. The zeolite must then be regenerated by a thermal process or through the use of an
advanced oxidation process, such as Fenton s Reagent. By varying the

Migration
Migration is a wide area of study to which a variety of issues arise from. Taylor Francis Online
defined migration as the movement of people from one place to another with the intent of settling in
the new location, either temporarily or permanently. There are different types of physical migration:
intercontinental (between countries), intracontinental (between countries on a given continent), and
interregional (within countries) (Taylor Francis Online, 2016). With the new development of
technology and the accessibility of travel in everyday life, the migration of people has become easier
and more common. In Goran Rystad s Immigration History and the Future of International Migration,

It was not really considered to be a reason for migration before as labour was the most common
purpose. In the book Asian Cross border Marriage Migration by Wen Shang Yang and Melody Chia
Wen Lu, it is stated that for the past few decades, the commonly engaging race in this phenomenon are
Asians and the number of partakers continue to rise. Using the section Marriage Migration to East
Asia: Current Issues and Propositions in Making Comparisons by Yen Fen Tseng, he said that
migration movements are frequently Southeast Asians going to North East Asian countries for the
reason that countries belonging in North East Asia are the more developed and wealthy. Asian women
are commonly involved in such marriage. Marriages with East Asian countries are sometimes fueled
by social anxiety. Intermarriages in East Asia are products of farmers or lower class men suffering
from inadequate amount of marriageable women in their areas. It is said in the book that there are
instances wherein mail order brides introduce their sisters, friends, or nieces to marry men who they
know, mostly men from their husband s country. Marriage migration became an option for Asian
women to consider since it was an easy way to go abroad and to work considering the fact that there
were limited ways to move out of the country. This study is helpful to the researcher in explaining and

Significance Of The Reichstag Fire

The 27th of February 1933 The Reichstag burnt down. This event can be considered as one of the most
important events that led Hitler to power. Many Historians argue about how crucial was the Reichstag
Fire for the future of Germany,
One could argue that the Reichstag Fire was vital as a mean for Hitler to strengthen his control of
Germany since it increased anti communism and decreased the Communist vote.Hitler used the
Reichstag fire as evidence that the Communists were plotting against his government (as found in
Lacey and Shepard,63),this increased fear of Communists and therefore increased support of the Nazi
party. In March elections 1933 the Nazis gained 288 seats and became the largest party in the
Reichstag, this is the result of anti communism since the Catholic Center party only collaborated with
the Nazis since in a Communist country, religion is banned (as found in Walsh,159).The Reichstag fire
did not only mean increasing anti communism and more support for Hitler, but also meant less support
for the Communists. In March election 1933 Communists had only

Baz Luhrmann s Film Adaptation Of F. Scott Fitzgerald s...
Baz Luhrmann s 2013 film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby is exceptional in
my point of view. The novel is about a young man named Jay Gatsby who had fallen in love with a
woman named Daisy but at the first time they met, they were unable to stay together because of World
War 1. Around the 1920 s, they were reunited through the assistance of Nick Carraway who was Daisy
s cousin, Gatsby s neighbour, and the narrator and Gatsby tried everything in his power to make Daisy
fall back in love with him by earning his wealth through bootlegging of liquor as well as, hosting
extravagant parties even though he knew she was married to Tom Buchannan. Despite of Luhrmann s
editing of the novel as the way he captured it, he was still able to grasp the entertaining scenes and
also the moral of the novel through characterization, settings, symbolism, music and costuming.
Jay Gatsby (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) is the best actor throughout the entire film in my opinion
because he played out his character impeccably. The actual introduction of Jay Gatsby along with
stunning fireworks in the background and the climax of the orchestra as he smile majestically, made
him seem even more extravagant. Leonardo flawlessly played the passionate role of Gatsby and
portrayed the determination of achieving wealth and power to win back his love, Daisy Buchanan. The
great acting made the audience believe as if there was a real love connection between the two actors

Homeschool Is Not School At Home
Homeschool First time I heard about homeschooling, I had tons of question about it. I was wondering.
What are some requirement that parents have go through to be able to teach their children? Why
parents choose homeschool rather then let s their children go to compound school, and how they

my family used to do homeschool. My dad provide chalks, blackboard, and textbooks. My uncle and
my brother were teachers. They taught my sibling and me math, reading and writing. Sometime, my
dad taught us English. Some people define that homeschool is not school at home and some people
say that it is a school at home. Anyway, my definition of homeschool is school that educate with
everything that we learn from, and from the real life that have the parents as teachers and partners that

The Poverty Of The United Kingdom Essay
Child contingent support In the United Kingdom, a commitment to end child poverty forever was a
stated key ambition of the incoming Labour administration in 1997 (Blair, 1999). Many of the
measures designed to achieve this outcome (or the marginally more modest intention to halve child
poverty by 2010) were about the provision of new or enhanced services rather than the transfer of
resources. Stewart (2013, 5) estimates that spending on child contingent benefits and tax credits more
or less doubled across the period of Labour government, while child related services saw a dramatic
increase from around £ 671 per child in 1997/8 to £2,514 per child in 2009/10. Part of this increase
related to the Sure Start programme and the funded expansion of early education. There was also
legislation to increase the duration of maternity leave and to implement statutory paternity leave. A
commitment to lowering staff pupil ratios in state schools was part of a (long term) investment in the
well being of children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Increased expenditure on
pre school childcare was also seen as easing the route back to work for mothers with young children
(Stewart 2013). There was a further step change in the resources directed to children (via their
parents). This included an increase in the universal child benefit where spending increased in real
terms (at 2009/10 prices) from £9,134 million (in 1997/8) to £12,460 million (in 2009/10). There was

Essay On The Neverending Story By Michael Ende
The neglectful parent is used throughout The Neverending Story by Michael Ende to push the child
protagonist (Bastian) into a journey within himself, within his imagination. On this journey, looking
for answers, he finds the answer is within himself. Upon coming home he becomes the emotional
support for his father, he becomes parentified . When a child is parentified, they take on the
responsibility of the parent. The parent, for whatever reason is unable to provide the child with care
and relies on them to support the family (Hooper, Parentification: Measurement, Process, and
Outcome Research ). This is usually seen in families with parents who suffer from addiction or mental
illness. However, in Bastian s case he becomes the parent to a grieving father. ... Show more content

Their purpose is to receive all the love and care from their parent in order to grow up and provide that
love and care for someone else. When a parent fails to build this foundation for a child, the child
grows up and goes through life dealing with problems ranging from low self esteem to severe
psychopathology (Hooper 6). Essentially, when Bastian returns home from his journey he knows
within himself that he needs to become strong for his father, he needs to take on the role of the parent.
We know that Fantastica does not exist in this plane of reality, but for Bastian the transformation he
goes through is very real and has very real outcomes. Bastian does not take into account the death of
his mother but goes back to the condition of his father. Throughout the first half of the book Bastian
refers to his father and what he must be doing. This lack of detail for the mother s death emphasizes
the severe effects of neglect that Bastian s father ignites. Bastian is not only neglected by his father,
but he is mistreated at school and by others in the community where he

Donald Trump Panelism
Rise of an Unconventional Candidate: Donald Trump s popularity can be attributed to the support of
blue collar workers, one panelist argued. The working class believes his remarks paint him as an

strong appeal to those who have suffered from economic globalization, which are largely lower

Kevin Spacey Research Paper
The star of House of Cards, Kevin Spacey, is well known as a famous screen actor and film director.
In 2003, he eventually branched off from film and found his way becoming the artistic director of the
Old Vic, one of London s oldest theatres. Although it may seem like his transition from film to theatre
was arbitrary, you could actually say it was something of familiar territory for him. In his early years,
Spacey was originally sent to military school. However, after being expelled for bad behavior he
transferred to Los Angeles Chatsworth High School. There is where his interest in acting really began,
and it is also where he started his inexpert drama career. According to biography.com, Spacey actually
ended up graduating as co valedictorian. He was then encouraged to go to Juilliard, a performing arts

He performed in Richard III, a Shakespeare production directed by Sam Mendes. Through all the
experience and training Spacey received in his lifetime, in this production he took his character to the
next level so to speak. In Richard III, Spacey used technique acting to precisely portray his character
as Richard. He worked on his outward appearance, like a humped back and twisted leg, in order to
help the audience visualize Richard and understand how his scarred personality develops. As much as
technique acting is the way to describe Spacey s acting development for Richard III, he also didn t fall
short in exposing Richards s emotional side during the production. I would say Spacey is somewhat of
an in between of method and technique acting. I say this because during the time of Richard III death
in the production, Spacey let the emotions of Richards sadness and loneliness prevail. This actually
plays a major part in completing one of the themes of the show, which was Richard s entitlement of

Global Warming Debate Essay
In the controversy over whether Global Warming there is two sides in which people can choose either
human caused or just Mother Nature doing her thing. Most scientists will tell you that Global
Warming is mostly the cause of humans. While there are some who will disagree and say that it is just
nature doing what it has done for thousands of years. For most scientists the topic of global warming
is one that is caused by us humans. They have many facts data to back this up. Some examples of
these facts and data are the change in CO2 levels in the atmosphere, the rapid increase in temperature,
stronger storms such as hurricanes, melting ice caps, decrease in permafrost, and the Larsen A B ice
shelves. These are some of the biggest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As hurricanes come over warmer waters they gain strength. Over the past 30 years the intensity of
hurricanes has doubled over the past 30 years, according to multiple studies. As the temperatures of
our oceans increase in temperature hurricanes will continue to gain strength and continuously intensify
over the next few years. The increase in ocean temperatures doesn t just affect things above the
surface it also affect life underneath. As temperatures increase it directly affects the coral, by
interfering with the coral s process involved in photosynthesis. Without photosynthesis the coral and
zooxanthellae wouldn t be able to take the nitrogen waste that the coral produces and turns the
sunlight into sugar, which makes up 98% of the coral s food. When the temperatures rise the coral
then reacts and split with their mutualistic algae and the coral then turns white. The process in which
the coral turns white is called bleaching. Without coral reefs hundreds of thousands of marine life that
rely on coral reefs will eventually die along with the reefs. In the debate of Global Warming in my
opinion humans are the main cause. And some more of how this can be attributed to us is the thawing
of permafrost, and melting ice caps. Permafrost is a big example because places where permafrost can
be found is also where some towns and communities are built, right on top of the permafrost. When

Jaws Short Monologue Analysis
Patrick Cassells
Ms. Ballard
Period One
October 5th 2014
Over the years of cinema history, we ve heard plenty lines that make our skin crawl with bone chilling
fear, but for me, none quite did it like this line from Captain Quint, in Jaws.
You know the thing about a shark, he s got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll s eye. When he
comes at ya, doesn t seem to be livin . Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then,
ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin
and the hollerin they all come in and rip you to pieces. Y know by the end of that first dawn, lost a
hundred men! I don t know how many sharks, maybe a thousand! I don t know how many men, they
averaged six an hour. This quote is burned into my mind forever. I was maybe eleven when I first
watched Jaws, and Captain Quints long monologue about his experience in the waters of the Atlantic,
dumped into the sea by a shipwrecked USS. Indianapolis has always instilled fear and awe in me. Awe
and fear towards sharks. So what s it called when something instills a feeling of awe in a person?

The Holy One of Israel in Isaiah
The Holy One of Israel This essay concerns about the meaning of the divine title The Holy One of
Israel in the Book of Isaiah. It is going to state clearly the study approach before going into the
discussion.
Approach of this essay
The book of Isaiah had been studied through different approaches of which three are quite
distinctive[1].
(1) A pre critical, or traditional, understanding, still found in some conservative scholars. They keep
the entire book of Isaiah connected to the prophet Isaiah of the eighth century B.C.E. There is nothing
intrinsically impossible as the approach is prophecy . With the rise of historical criticism , such an
approach has been commonly rejected in the interpretive world.

Israel acquires holiness by being obedient to God s commandments and faithful to His covenant (Lev
11:44; Deut 28:9)[4]. The concept of holiness permeates the life of Israel. Even the land occupied by
the people is considered holy (Zech 2:12). The capital city Jerusalem is designated as the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High (Ps 46:4).
The Holy One of Israel
The term The Holy One of Israel reflects the dialectical relation between The Holy One and Israel . It
is a relation with the Holy One with a non holy entity[5]. The Holy One requires Israel to be holy. Be
holy because I, the Lord Your God, am holy (Lev 19:2). The separate one becomes the attached one.
Their relation is bound by covenant. The challenge of the relation is Israel s unfaithfulness in
worshipping other god s. The most notable example is the imposition of Baal worship on the northern
kingdom by Ahab s marriage to Jezebel. Both the northern and the southern kingdoms suffered
captivity. Any rebellious from Israel side causes discipline from The Holy One side. Exile from Israel
causes In the midst from the other, punishment causes redemption , go astray causes teaches and leads
etc. In the Book of Isaiah, the Holy One is the Lord, God. The Lord has passion. He is angry at Israel
who rejects His laws (5:24; 31:1) but His compassion is good news more directly for the powerless
(29:19). He is the Creator of Israel (43:15), the Maker of this nation (17:7;

What Is There Hope In The Bluest Eye
In the novel, The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison we see the tragic tale of a girl named Pecola play out
and the story is told by a young girl named Claudia. The story is grim and bleak, everything that could
go wrong does go wrong. It seems that there is no hope of things getting better, Claudia is the only
character who gives us hope that Pecola s life will get better, but by the end of the novel even she
realizes that there is no hope, nothing will get better. Some people believe that if there is no hope, then
why should you care? Morrison shows us that even though there was no hope we still should care just
as much, if not more by giving us Claudia. In the end of the novel Claudia realizes that there is no

The NSF makes it clear that in the past older people and their carers were not always treated with

requires that staff have the appropriate skills and experience. This care should be underpinned by
fundamental principles that promote dignity (Webster

Within the UK the nursing code of professional conduct states that
registered nurses must respect they patients and promote and protect the

The care of the older patient involves special expertise for many reasons such as physiological ageing
and the effects of medication may alter the disease presentation; pre existing conditions may make self
care more difficult and the incidence of depression and dementia more common; and arranging social
support for successful discharge requires complex skills. While a patient may have been admitted with

Persuasive Essay On Standardized Testing
If standardized testing is going to change, then now is the time. The Every Student Succeeds Act

assessment system as mandated. As this essay has presented, the current system and models of
standardized testing are rife with problems. This proposed solution addresses the core elements of this
problem with education in the United States today. Standardized testing is here to stay. Although there
is a strong argument for it to be removed from the system of education, it is a tool used by politicians
to gage school and student performance. The best solution for the future of education is to develop a
standardized testing system that work. Standardized testing is meant to measure student performance
and growth. It would be imperative to remove the high stakes accountability component. I agree
accountability is important. However, that should be a completely separate entity. The solution I am
proposing to fix standardized testing is a multi level criterion referenced digital portfolio which assess
multiple measures through low stakes on demand adaptive tests, and stealth assessments. This solution
is designed from an amalgamation of individual alternatives to standardized testing that have been
developed by experts in an article titled 8 Alternatives to High Stakes Standardized Tests, by Sarah

Dueling In Germany Essay
Dueling may sound familiar among aristocratic men in 19th Century Germany, but is it a must to be
done when one men feel offended by another? Whether with bloodshed or not, dueling was seen by
society as the only way to ensure harmonious reconciliation between the men involved in a dispute
with each other (Frevet, 167). However, it is questionable as to whether dueling would result in the
superficial reconciliation if the cause was a serious provocation like adultery (Frevet, 176). In

With the rulebook being so outdated, many of the rules that are enforced and followed make very little
sense. In addition, often the rulings are based on ancient rules over what is actually right. What is

has suspended or deemed ineligible countless athletes over questionable rules and violations. The
NCAA, which also has the power to issue sanctions to schools and programs over rules violations,

Comparing Rhetoric In Macbeth And The Pilgrim s Progress
Rhetoric can be used to inform, persuade, and inspire. It can shape the way people think and how they
respond. Writers will use rhetoric to form their characters feelings and attitudes. The writers want the
characters to contrast, allowing them to represent the different factions of the human persona. This
attitude is created by the character s usage of rhetorical devices, such as diction, dialect, or tone.
Moreover, a character s attitude towards other characters is shaped by their rhetoric as well. The
attitude is also crafted by the character s word choice and how he or she deliver each word. In William

business. He saved his money, bought run down houses, fixed them up, and rented them out. In doing
research, I found farmers and ranchers earned a median annual income of nearly $61,000 in 2010,
according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. (1) Seven of the 10 best paying U.S. cities for
farmers were in California, ranking at $80,0000 $87,000 annually. According to a recent report
commissioned by the USDA, there will be 20,000 fewer university graduates in the fields of
agriculture and the environment than will be needed in just the next five years. In order to feed 9
billion people by 2050, we will need a diverse population of agriculture researchers who can think
outside the hectare and leverage the experience of nontraditional learners including veterans, refugees
from rural backgrounds, migrant farmworkers and female farm owners. (5)

Asian Cultural Identity
Growing up as an Asian American, I often struggle to identify my own cultural identity. Being the first
generation of both my mother and father s side of the family, I more than often get confused between
American and Asian culture when applying them to society or at home. While being raised at home, I
am largely influenced by culture and traditions from Asian parents and relatives. However, when I go
to school or someplace else, I am heavily judged for practicing part of my Asian culture because it is
entirely different than western or American. With that being noted, I began to learn and adapt to the
western culture in hopes of fitting with society as well of trying to keep my Asian culture intact. As
can be seen, this situation I dealt with is the same problem the whole Asian American community
faces. Mainly focusing on younger generations like me for example, the Asian American community
struggles to adapt to the western culture because they were raised with an Asian influence. Wishing to
fit in society and be part of the social norms, the Asian Americans community faces issues that
identify their cultural identity.
A child growing up in a certain environment is influenced on how he or she takes action in a society.
Such as Asian American children being exposed to two kinds of cultures, one that is Asian and the
other American. Asian American children being born in the United States are heavily influenced by
home life and society. Branding them with stereotypes and other

Rape Culture Essay
The topic that I have chosen to discuss in this paper is the rape culture that occurs on college
campuses throughout the United States; and the rationale society uses to normalize this egregious act.
Rape culture refers to society s existing idea that rape or sexual assault is inconsequential and only
happens to individuals who behave a certain way. 1 in 5 women have experienced some kind of sexual
assault throughout their college career, and most of them know who their assailants are; however
many fail to report that they have been sexually assaulted. Women do not feel compelled to report
incidents of rape or sexual assault because they fear the backlash or judgement that society will
impose. Victims of sexual assault on college ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article Moderated Role of Sexism, by Yamawaki et. al, studies the role that differences in power
of status has on how rape is perceived. Naturally, due to the basis of the study, factors that sway an
individual s view of rape, rape victims and the perpetrators were evaluated. The socioeconomic status
(SES) of the victim and rapist, whether or not the victim resisted, the presence of alcohol, how
strongly the observer clings to society s gender roles, the attractiveness of the victim versus the
perpetrator and vice a versa are all factors that influence an individual s negative attitude towards a
rape victim.
This study showed that power, power meaning access to resources, played a huge role in the negative
judgement of rape victims and perpetrators. In cases where the men had more power than the women
there were a higher rate of victim blaming, opposed to when the women had more power. It was also
seen that those who believed that women want to gain power and control over men tend to minimize
the severity of rape incidents.
For this research, sixty five men and seventy five women, ages ranging from eighteen to forty seven,
were chosen from a psychology course for the study. Of the 140 participants, 90% were single and
10% were married. The participants were given two rape scenarios that were developed for the sake of
the research. Both scenarios portrayed a rape victim, Sarah, who is pressing charges on her
perpetrator, John. John

They also did compositions and teaching on commission. As attaining fame with the public became a chief concern, the musician s composed materials that pleased everyone from aficionados to the ones with little experience. During this era, two music specialists were known for reaching a diverse audience with their excellent compositions that have come to epitomise the classic period. No one did it better that Haydn and Mozart. Their music was outstanding; they created music that was immediate with a profound and enduring appeal. Though their music was exceptional, they illustrated differences in which specialised musicians work. (Nettl, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is contrary to what Mozart was working on at this time. By choosing this kind of key, Mozart illustrates a kind of deliberate conveyance of something diverse, emotional and moodier than past concertos. According to Alfred Einstein; a German American musicologist, he describes the importance of different key signatures for Mozart. He says if G minor was the fatalistic key for Mozart, then C minor was the dramatic one. The core differentiates the aggressive harmonies and lyrical passages. He adds that the lyrical quality is usually outburst by the gloomy emotions. After Mozart had established this furious and tempestuous mood through the use of this signature key, the form of the piece remains to engender this unique departure from the previous piano concertos by Mozart (Alfred Einstein, 1962) Typically, Mozart concertos start with dialogue like an interface between the instrumentalist and also the orchestra; this can be not a similar with K491 wherever the instrumentalist newer plays the initial four notes of the musical organisation introduction. The exclusion of this dialogue at the start makes a lot of aggressive, foreboding sound. The previous concertos did a back and forth sharing of themes at the beginning of the track. Contrasting, convergent ocean basins are essentially two plates moving towards one another. For the second difference, I want to focus on what is happening to the Earth s crust at each point. In divergent ocean basins, new crust is being formed as the two plates move father and farther away. In contrast, crust is being destroyed at converging ocean basins. Essentially, the two converging plates (and their crust) will collide and form a subduction zone (specific with the crust density). This zone is essentially characterized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Submarine canyons can be found at active and passive margins, while deep sea trenches can only be found at active margins. The primary reason for this difference is specific to how submarine canyons and deep sea trenches are formed. If we think back to what occurs at active and passive margins, it becomes apparent that deep sea trenches are only formed from some form of a tectonic collision. Submarine canyons, presenting at passive and active margins, are largely formed by turbidity currents. The last difference between a submarine canyon and a deep sea trench is placement /shape. The most apparent location of a submarine canyon is on the down slope of a continental shelf; furthermore, as the slope continues downward the canyon essentially ends by formation of a deep sea fan. While I was supplementing the text, one perfect analogy for a deep sea fan (more of a visual aid) that I found online was those formed at the opening/mouth of a river. Essentially, as sediment continually flows over a specific path, the path begins to erode and you get fan like formations from the mouth. In contrast, deep sea trenches are more prominent and sharp in nature. Rather than running perpendicular to a continental slope, deep sea trenches are physical depression originating from the ocean floor and protruding downward in a V shaped ... During an unseen event, they escape the facility, no longer remaining hostage as test experiments. Ten years pass and now the roles have reversed. These super hybrid animals are now the top of the food chain and humans are their pawns. In a reversal of roles, zoos now hold humans in depicted natural environments and local grocery and department stores are farms where forced humans eat, breed, and slaughter for animal consumption. The lack of research and public knowledge greatly hindered considerations for animal welfare including fair and ethical treatment. In order for us as humans to understand animals more thoroughly, more research studies are required in order to examine the similarities of animal and human relations. We can further relate with animals if we understand they too have emotions similar to ours and not outcast them due to their species classification. Even as studies and research conducted prove great and remarkable results, the public should be aware of the information generated. With the public aware of such studies, we can finally relate to animals and take in their considerations of how they feel in certain situations. The implications of this are vast ranging from common household pets, livestock, to even captive animals within a zoo. Learning these studies and making this knowledge available to the public could provide helpful insight as what to do in treating situations such as coming across a bear in the wild. Research roles of animals have been very beneficial to the human race. • 7. Pros And Cons Of Agency Theory Agency theory is concerned with the agency relationships. The two parties have an agency relationship when they cooperate and engage in association wherein one party the principal delegates decisions and /or work to another an agent to act on its behalf (Tan Lee, 2015). The important assumptions underlying agency theory is that potential goal conflicts exists between principals and agents; each party acts in its own self interest; information asymmetry frequently exists between principals and agents; agents are more risk averse than the principal; and efficiency is the effectiveness criterion (Miller Sardais, 2011; Kingston Haijie, 2014). Two potential problems stemming from this assumption may arise in agency relationships: an agency problem and a risk sharing problem. An agency problem appears when agents goal differs from the principals and it is difficult or expensive to verify whether agents have appropriately performed the delegated work. A risk sharing problem arises when agents have different attitudes towards risk that cause disagreements about actions to be taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This growing debate on tattoos brings me to the point of the evolution of tattoos. Tattoos were once believed to be a risky trend and are now becoming more of the norm. As we know it tattoos are not as unusual as they once were. There are many different reasons behind why people get tattoos, for example personal losses, symbolism, or just the concept of it being art. Morality is an important aspect of life and majority of our actions are dependent on doing what is moral or immoral. Moral relativism is the theory that defines whether an action is considered moral or immoral. There are two forms of moral relativism, cultural relativism and individual relativism, which are two theories about the morality of our actions. The two theories of moral relativism provide a reasoning for the justification of moral or immoral actions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One criticism of cultural relativism is that it would not be acceptable to say that another society s customs are inferior to our own. If morality is based on a culture s rules, it would be hypocritical to tell another culture that what they are doing is wrong. It cannot be acceptable for one culture to consider their own culture superior by believing that their set of rules is the true guidance for morality. I believe this criticism raises an important issue. Since morality is constituted by different rules for different cultures, there is no way of knowing what they ultimate truth is about what actions are considered moral or immoral if one thing can be considered good in one society, but bad in another. Individual relativism has also been challenged because it states the idea that the morality of our actions can be determined by our own thoughts and intuitions. Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III). Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton s Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the process cost prohibitive. In order to overcome this limitation, it was found that iron amended zeolites could be used to destroy chemicals in water at nearly neutral pH (3). Figure 1. The Poverty Of The United Kingdom Essay Child contingent support In the United Kingdom, a commitment to end child poverty forever was a stated key ambition of the incoming Labour administration in 1997 (Blair, 1999). Many of the measures designed to achieve this outcome (or the marginally more modest intention to halve child poverty by 2010) were about the provision of new or enhanced services rather than the transfer of resources. Stewart (2013, 5) estimates that spending on child contingent benefits and tax credits more or less doubled across the period of Labour government, while child related services saw a dramatic increase from around £ 671 per child in 1997/8 to £2,514 per child in 2009/10. Part of this increase related to the Sure Start programme and the funded expansion of early education. There was also legislation to increase the duration of maternity leave and to implement statutory paternity leave. A commitment to lowering staff pupil ratios in state schools was part of a (long term) investment in the well being of children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Increased expenditure on pre school childcare was also seen as easing the route back to work for mothers with young children (Stewart 2013). There was a further step change in the resources directed to children (via their parents). This included an increase in the universal child benefit where spending increased in real terms (at 2009/10 prices) from £9,134 million (in 1997/8) to £12,460 million (in 2009/10). There was ... Through all the experience and training Spacey received in his lifetime, in this production he took his character to the next level so to speak. In Richard III, Spacey used technique acting to precisely portray his character as Richard. He worked on his outward appearance, like a humped back and twisted leg, in order to help the audience visualize Richard and understand how his scarred personality develops. As much as technique acting is the way to describe Spacey s acting development for Richard III, he also didn t fall short in exposing Richards s emotional side during the production. I would say Spacey is somewhat of an in between of method and technique acting. I say this because during the time of Richard III death in the production, Spacey let the emotions of Richards sadness and loneliness prevail. This actually plays a major part in completing one of the themes of the show, which was Richard s entitlement of being the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Global Warming Debate Essay In the controversy over whether Global Warming there is two sides in which people can choose either human caused or just Mother Nature doing her thing. Most scientists will tell you that Global Warming is mostly the cause of humans. While there are some who will disagree and say that it is just nature doing what it has done for thousands of years. For most scientists the topic of global warming is one that is caused by us humans. They have many facts data to back this up. Some examples of these facts and data are the change in CO2 levels in the atmosphere, the rapid increase in temperature, stronger storms such as hurricanes, melting ice caps, decrease in permafrost, and the Larsen A B ice shelves. These are some of the biggest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As hurricanes come over warmer waters they gain strength. Over the past 30 years the intensity of hurricanes has doubled over the past 30 years, according to multiple studies. As the temperatures of our oceans increase in temperature hurricanes will continue to gain strength and continuously intensify over the next few years. The increase in ocean temperatures doesn t just affect things above the surface it also affect life underneath. As temperatures increase it directly affects the coral, by interfering with the coral s process involved in photosynthesis. Without photosynthesis the coral and zooxanthellae wouldn t be able to take the nitrogen waste that the coral produces and turns the sunlight into sugar, which makes up 98% of the coral s food. When the temperatures rise the coral then reacts and split with their mutualistic algae and the coral then turns white. The process in which the coral turns white is called bleaching. Without coral reefs hundreds of thousands of marine life that rely on coral reefs will eventually die along with the reefs. In the debate of Global Warming in my opinion humans are the main cause. And some more of how this can be attributed to us is the thawing of permafrost, and melting ice caps. Permafrost is a big example because places where permafrost can be found is also where some towns and communities are built, right on top of the permafrost. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jaws Short Monologue Analysis Patrick Cassells Ms. Ballard Period One October 5th 2014 Over the years of cinema history, we ve heard plenty lines that make our skin crawl with bone chilling fear, but for me, none quite did it like this line from Captain Quint, in Jaws. You know the thing about a shark, he s got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll s eye. When he comes at ya, doesn t seem to be livin . Until he bites ya and those black eyes roll over white. And then, ah then you hear that terrible high pitch screamin and the ocean turns red and spite of all the poundin and the hollerin they all come in and rip you to pieces. Y know by the end of that first dawn, lost a hundred men! I don t know how many sharks, maybe a thousand! I don t know how many men, they averaged six an hour. This quote is burned into my mind forever. I was maybe eleven when I first watched Jaws, and Captain Quints long monologue about his experience in the waters of the Atlantic, dumped into the sea by a shipwrecked USS. It is going to state clearly the study approach before going into the discussion. Approach of this essay The book of Isaiah had been studied through different approaches of which three are quite distinctive[1]. (1) A pre critical, or traditional, understanding, still found in some conservative scholars. They keep the entire book of Isaiah connected to the prophet Isaiah of the eighth century B.C.E. The capital city Jerusalem is designated as the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High (Ps 46:4). The Holy One of Israel The term The Holy One of Israel reflects the dialectical relation between The Holy One and Israel . It is a relation with the Holy One with a non holy entity[5]. The Holy One requires Israel to be holy. Be holy because I, the Lord Your God, am holy (Lev 19:2). The separate one becomes the attached one. Their relation is bound by covenant. The challenge of the relation is Israel s unfaithfulness in worshipping other god s. The most notable example is the imposition of Baal worship on the northern kingdom by Ahab s marriage to Jezebel. Both the northern and the southern kingdoms suffered captivity. Any rebellious from Israel side causes discipline from The Holy One side. This proposed solution addresses the core elements of this problem with education in the United States today. Standardized testing is here to stay. Although there is a strong argument for it to be removed from the system of education, it is a tool used by politicians to gage school and student performance. The best solution for the future of education is to develop a standardized testing system that work. Standardized testing is meant to measure student performance and growth.
