2. Kent Life Editor’s Comment
Left hand side contains
the title and a small tagline
underneath. These are in
the same serif font but the
tagline is in italics. These
take up a considerable
space of the left column.
Photos of the editor are placed
at the top and the bottom of
the text as a visual
representation of the person
who is writing. This creates a
more personal feel to the
message.
Advertisement is placed on the
right side of the page and
takes up over half of the width.
It is fairly minimal with only two
lines of text, some contact
details, a large image, and a
company logo.
Page number and date
at the bottom of the
page as per the house
theme.
Varied text gives contrast and
shows the importance of the
header and the tagline
underneath.
A handwritten signature
gives a personal touch
to the page, along with
social media links to
make cross media links.
3. Fashion London Editor’s
Comment (Fashion Magazine)
Main header is in two different
texts to create interest, and the
text is very large to immediately
draw attention to it.
A handwritten signature is
printed at the bottom to give a
personal feel and connect to
the reader.
Social media icons are displayed at the
top to suggest to readers that they will
be able to find the magazine on
different forms of social media.
Four circles containing images of
people suggest the contents of
the magazine; considering this is a
fashion magazine, the images are
all of people wearing different
types of clothing, giving a real
sense of the theme of the rest of
the magazine.
A header and footer are placed
evenly at the top and the
bottom just to simply enclose
the page and repeat the name
of the magazine for brand
identity and awareness.
The comment itself is arranged
in two columns in the centre of
the page which leaves a large
white space either side. This
creates a minimal feel and
doesn’t detract attention from
the pictures and the heading.
4. OC Family Editor’s Comment
(Lifestyle magazine)
A photo of the editor and her
social media links are very
clearly printed in the top left
corner, making a clear
connection to the reader from
the first feature on the page.
A handwritten signature is
printed at the bottom to give a
personal feel and connect to
the reader.
The page is split into three sections,
with two columns and a bottom
section. The heading of ‘Editor’s Note’
encompasses the note itself plus the
other two smaller articles which may
interest the reader.
A behind the scenes look at the
front cover is added to the right
side of the page, as a little insight
into how to magazine is made for
regular readers.
A small related article about the
editor’s personal life is placed at
the bottom of the page complete
with photographs and
descriptions. This again gives an
informal feel to the magazine
which is a more personal touch to
the page.
The editor’s note is in an easily
readable sans serif font with a
decorative ‘M’ to begin the
article. This adds colour and
interest without detracting from
the notes itself.
