• Codes: Codes are symbols and signs that together create a
meaning. They are further classified into two categories such
as technical codes (editing) and symbolic codes(emotions).
• Conventions: The way of doing something related to its
content is termed as conventions.

As seen above the name of the magazine is usually seen in white color yet the
font is kept simple. The elegant and decent writing style is easy to read as it
stands out with the floral background . It can be observed that in order to give
importance more to the genre (eg: gardening) the masthead must be kept
simple.
4. Main image
The main image of gardening magazine revolves around the genre mainly
consisting of close-ups of flowers or garden view. The main image of the
magazines gives readers an idea instantly about what it is about.

The barcode is usually placed on
the bottom side of the magazine.
The symbol of barcode consists of
data such as price, issue number.
The puff is a colorful shape in
which a catchy phrase written on it.
Sometimes puff’s may include
offers, lottery prizes, special deals
that can be availed.
