2. What Is Coccidiosis?
Coccidiosis is a protozoal disease of the intestinal
tract of animals caused by several species of Eimeria.

3. Coccidiosis is one of the most common and costly
diseases. Because it causes-
Losses due to decreased weight
Losses due to increased mortality ( Up to 50% or above)
Losses due to increased treatment cost .

4. Etiology
 Both clinically infected and recovered birds shed oocysts in
their droppings, which contaminate feed, dust, water, litter,
and soil.
 Oocysts may be transmitted by mechanical carriers
(eg,equipment, clothing, insects, farm workers, and other
animals).

 Occurs only after ingestion of relatively large numbers of
sporulated oocysts.

10. 3. E. acervulina (Duodenal Coccidiosis)
=> E acervulina is the most common cause of infection.
=> Lesions include numerous whitish, oval or transverse
patches in the upper half of the small intestine, which may
be easily distinguished on gross examination.

 Control by vaccination or prevention with
anticoccidial drugs.

17. Treatment
1) Cocci-Off Vet
Poultry: Prevention: 1g/2L
drinking water for 7 days.
Treatment: 1g/L drinking
water for 5-7 days.
Calf, Goat & Sheep:
1.5g/10-15 kg body weight
with water or milk for 5
days.
Or, as directed by
Veterinary physician.
 The supplementation of Vita-ADE promotes the recovery .

18. Treatment
2) Anticoc Vet (Toltazuril)
Poultry
Prevention: 1 ml/L drinking water for three medications
on days 9-10, 16-17 & 23-24 day of life.
Treatment: 1 ml/L drinking water for continuous
administration over 48 hours, or 3 ml/L for 8 hours per
day.
Medicated drinking water should be used within 24 hours.
Calves, Sheep, Goats & Pigs
0.8 ml/kg body weight for 2 consecutive days. If necessary
repeat after 5 days.
Or, as directed by the Veterinary Physician.

19. Treatment
3) SCZ WSP
For Prevention:
Broiler: 1 g/L of drinking water at 17-21 ,29-35
day of life . Each time the duration will be 3
consecutive days.
Layer: 1 g/L of drinking water at 3rd weeks of age
for 1st time, 5th weeks of age for 2nd time and at
the start of laying for 3rd time. Each time the
duration will be 3 consecutive days.
For Treatment:
Broiler/Layer: 1.5 g - 2.0 g / liter of drinking water
for 3-5 consecutive days for any age. In severe
case, 2.5 g / liter of drinking water or 2.0 g to 2.5
g/ kg feed.
