Tom Armstrong evaluated a project where he created a leaflet for a client. He faced financial constraints as he wasn't given funding and would have had to pay for resources himself. He managed the project well by communicating with the client, creating a schedule, and gathering needed images and fonts from the client. He learned the importance of time management, client communication, and gained skills in Photoshop. The project gave him experience that will help with future design work.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. Constraints
Financial:
For this project I wasn’t given any financial aid to help me fill out the project. Fortunately money wasn’t
needed as I had all the resources available to me, but If I had needed to invest in something I would've had to
use my own money. The constrained me to using resources I had, in this case I already had software such as
Photoshop available to me, otherwise I would have had to purchase it out of my own money. This also regards
to travel, all travel that was needed for the project would have had t be found on my own. For example, I
would have had to gain access to travel needs on my own terms (cycling, getting a bus etc.)
Legal:
I didn't face any legal constraints when working on my project. However there was legal constraints I had to be
aware of, for example, I had to be aware of the fonts I could use when It came to designing my leaflet (as some
fonts are copyrighted). I didn't have to worry about any legal constraints upon the images I would use as I knew
that they would be all form the clients company.
3. How I managed the project.
I feel that I managed the project very well. The project flowed very well, the reasons for this was
because I had spoke to the client before the production started. This was very helpful to me as I was
then able to come to a conclusion with the client as to what I can and cant do with my production. I
feel that keeping in contact with the client was a very important step in helping me to manage the
project.
Creating a time schedule for the production of my work was also very useful in allowing me to
manage what to do and when to do it. For example, it was very useful to allow myself selected
times to work on specific parts of the production. This was one of the main factors of me being able
to complete my work within the given time. Using this time schedule I allowed myself a couple days
to draw out rough designs of what I wanted my final product to look like. I feel that this was a very
vital step in managing the project. Doing this allowed me to get a goo idea of what I wanted to do
and where I wanted things to go upon the leaflet.
4. Time management
I feel that I managed my time very well throughout the set time I had to create the product. I followed the
production schedule I had created day by day. I Started my production by creating rough drafts and sketches of what
I wanted my finished leaflet to look like. I created a range of leaflet ideas, this helped me to identify were I wanted
the text and images to be placed when it came to actually designing the leaflet its self. Creating these rough
sketches helped largely in allowing me to get a good idea of what I wanted the final outcome to look like.
Then collected images by going along with the client and observing what the client does, I the collected a collection
of images of the clients work (images of flowers). Form here I was able to choose the specific image I wanted to use
on the front of the leaflet. I then was able to gain access to the font that the client uses for their website. Using the
clients font and using an image of the clients work was very good in allowing me to avoid and legal constraints with
copyright. It was also a lot better using something that the client had created instead of a font and image taken from
online. Using the font and image I did, it allowed for the leaflet to match with sites design, allowing a flow.
Overall I feel that I managed my time very well within the two weeks time period I had to create the leaflet. The
schedule I created allowed me to complete my project in the time given to me.
• . 8th May – Start production
• . 8th - 10th May – I will create sketches for the design.
• .11th - 12th May – collect image and text for leaflet.
• .15th – 16th May – I will finalize the designs to be upon the leaflet .
• .17th – 19th May – I will finalize the leaflet.
5. Communication with the client
I managed the communication with the client multiple times. Before starting my project I spoke
with the client and from this I was able to come to an agreement with the client about what will
need to be done. For example, we discussed the deadline for the product, we discussed what the
product would need to be (in my case it was a leaflet for the opening of their new store/workplace).
Talking to the client before I started the project was very helpful. After the first week of work I did I
spoke to the client and displayed the ideas I had, form here they were able to give me their opinion
on what I had done so far. Talking to the client mid way through my work was very helpful in
allowing me to gain feedback (both positive and negative). Gaining the opinion of the client was
very beneficial to me in designing the next part of the product. I feel that communicating often with
the client was very helpful in allowing me to manage the production for the product.
6. Meeting the requirements of the brief
I was able to meet the requirements of the brief very easily, as the
brief was very direct and was straight to the point in informing me
on what to do I was able to get straight to work. I was given specific
instructions that I was to only use an image that was taken from
the companies work. I gathered a range of images from the
companies pre existing work and chose the one I felt would work
the best with the colors I had decided upon. I was also instructed to
use a specific font, this font had also been used upon the clients
website. The reason for keeping it the same was so that the
audience would be able to link the two together. Other than the
image and font I was free to complete the leaflet as I wanted. This
left me with a range of things I was able to do, for example, I could
choose the colors I wanted to use, I could place the text and image
anywhere upon the leaflet I wanted, I was free to design the leaflet
in anyway I wanted.
7. What I have learnt
I feel that this task has benefited me in various ways and allowed me to improve on a range of skills.
As this project was the first time I had done any design for a company it has taught me a range of
things that will be useful for when it comes to doing it again. One thing I have learnt from this
experience is that its very important to manage the time you have been given to complete the
project. Creating a time schedule was very helpful to me when it came to creating the product and
if I hadn’t created one I would have struggled a lot. Another thing I have learnt from this experience
is that its very important to keep in contact with the client throughout/and before the production
stages of the work. Talking with the client before production was very useful in allowing me to gain
a good understanding of what was needed to be done. I also feel that because of this project my
skills within Photoshop have greatly increased. When creating the leaflet I used features that I
hadn't used before, such as using the layer mask tool to gain the effects I needed. Overall this task
has allowed to get a feel of what its like to a more professional level, and because of this I have
gained a wide range skills that will be used n the future when it comes to do something similar. This
work will hugely contribute in allowing me to get a feel of what It would be like to work In future
work places that I want to work within.
