3. Pollution / environment
For pollution I could explain the range of problems such as litter, climate change, greenhouse effect,
and man made pollution. From these ideas I could implement a feature that would strengthen
community ties. Including information about how your local community could work together to save the
world. From here I could talk about the problems that these problems are creating upon the earth.
Another successful method I could use would be to add a guilt factor by showing baby animals with a
caption saying they may not be around much longer due to global warming.
Graphics; If I was to create a poster for the subject of pollution I would create something that had a
direct message, for example, I would create an image of the earth melting and use a caption that said
something along the lines of ‘There is no planet b, act now!’. I feel that a message like this would raise
awareness and possibly change the attitudes some people have towards the rising rate of global
warming.
Whereas if I was to create a logo for the company I would try and stick to something simple so therefor
the logo is easy to identify and the message is very visible to people who don’t know what the company
is about. For example the WWF logo is very simple and presents an image if a panda, this is allows for
people who don't know about the WWF to easily identify its about animal preservation. So for my logo
I would create something based around an image of the earth (this ranges from anything to do with
nature to an actual image of the earth). The logo will need to have a rustic and natural feel to it. I could
also choose to not use an image for the logo, the logo maybe the name of the company. Using a font
and style I feel works well I could create a logo out of the name. The colours of the name could be
placed into a bold black or green, I feel green could work very well as it gives the effect of nature.
I could also create merchandise. The designs upon the merchandise could include a range of different
things. It could include images of different quotes and or text describing the problems of global
warming. It could also include an image of the earth melting or something similar to show a
representation of global warming within the form of an image.
4. Homelessness
For homelessness I will need to take in consideration the wide range of elements. I will need to
mostly focus upon the prevention of people becoming homeless. I will need to state the different
ways in which you can help to prevent it, mentioning the use of homeless shelters, and donating
money. If I wanted to act differently upon this subject I can campaign to get them off the streets. I
could also mention the poor conditions that they have to live within and the neglect they are
given by people passing by.
The graphics for this will need to be less direct and more upon how you can help by showing your
support. If I was to create a poster for this subject I could go about it in a couple different ways. If
I wanted to show a more upfront and straight to the point message I could include an image of a
homeless person, provide the name of the organization and information upon donating money to
help and or any other method of how you can help to prevent homelessness. The message show
could be very direct for example it could read ‘Donate now to give someone a shelter’. Another
direct method could be asking the audience a rhetorical question, such as ‘Would you sleep
here?’ showing an image of a homeless person beneath. This would be a successful method in
getting the audiences attention. Whereas if I was to give less of a direct message I could present
an image of a shelter for the homeless and ask for the audience to donate to keep shelters up
and running.
If I was to create a logo I would attempt it very minimalistic, using simple images I could create a
representation of a person holding up a roof above their head, another idea would consist of
using an image of a stickman I could create a link or people, representing a family connection or
something similar. Or as mentioned in the pollution section I could simply use the organizations
name in a relatable font a colour scheme. If the name of the organization is used I could also add
an image to go along with it to allow the audience to get a better idea upon what the
organization does.
