Personal Narrative-Joker s Fight
Everywhere the sounds of explosions roared. IEDs, we found E.O.D., who was with us quickly
disposed of them. Headquarters ordered us to move up the side of a hill when all hell broke
loose. Gunfire crackled around us. Ping, Ping, Ping, thud, and then the whine of ricochets left us
no time to properly put in our ear defenders. A few of us often left them out for when we talked
together. In the fight, E.O.D. took up a rearguard action as we advanced up the hill.
Shrapnel from rocks struck one of my lads in the neck. Firing wildly in every direction I raced to
his side. Moving towards him, my position became exposed. An insurgent took advantage of the
situation.
A well aimed shot hit my shoulder at the edge of my tactical vest. I continued ... Show more content

Reaching for even another man s collar, I dragged him to safety. Turning around, I glanced over at
Cowboy s position. Insurgents were only feet away from him. I opened fire with my light machine
gun. It was useless. Cowboy glanced in my direction. I felt helpless, not able to assist him and
hopelessly outnumbered.
Suddenly a light exploded all around Cowboy. The bastards, they nailed him. He took it in the
throat, ripping his wide jugular open. It was over in seconds.
I took another round in the thigh. Knocked off my feet by the impact, I felt dazed. Laying there I
watched the ordnance coming from every direction in the sky.
They opened up with everything they had. Helicopter Gunships, Warthogs, British Tornado
Bombers, Harrier Jump Jets, Canadian F18s and Medevac, they came roaring in from over the
hilltop across the way. I drifted in and out of consciousness and maintain only a vague memory of

The Beatitudes, Jesus Commandment Of Love And The Ten...
There are three central teachings that Christians follow, the Beatitudes, Jesus Commandment of
Love and the Ten Commandments all pave a path for adherent s of christianity to create a greater
bond with God and other members of the community, These three teachings relate to one another
and ultimately lead to the Lord and the communities around Christianity. The Beatitudes are
significant for Christians as it presents how God wants the adherents of Christianity to open
themselves up to the people around them, as the Beatitudes offers us eternal salvation in the
Kingdom of god and may be considered an alternative to the Ten Commandments, The Beatitudes

What Are The Positive And Negative Effects Of Mosquito
According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, every year more than 1.5 million people around
the globe lose their lives due to mosquito borne diseases (2012). A mosquito is an insect which
lives around the world, especially in tropical and subtropical countries. The mosquito has both
positive and negative effects. As part of positive effects, larvae of mosquitoes are food for fish and
dragonflies, and when mosquitoes consume nectar, they help the flowers to pollinate. On the other
hand, mosquitoes make people annoyed and cause many diseases. World Health Organization
(2016) explains that the mosquitois the greatest menace which causes many diseases and they are
responsible for more than million deaths and cases every year. There are many diseases that caused
by mosquitoes, but the diseases are commonly found and get people s attention because they have
many negative effects on people such as malaria, dengue fever, and Zika virus disease. A disease
that kills a child patient every two minutes and gets patient to infect again is malaria. As World

The Benefits Of A Single Stage To Orbit
A Single Stage to Orbit (SSTO) spaceplane would have many advantages over current methods of
getting people and equipment into space. Chief among these is major cost reduction. SSTOs
would be fully reusable, being that they are meant to send people to space and bring them back. A
fully reusable single stage space plane would have an advantage over a fully reusable rocket
booster, similar to what was used on the shuttle, and what is being used as the first stage on
SpaceX s Falcon 9. In fact, the Falcon 9 has already started to pay off to SpaceX. According to an
article from SpaceNews.com, the President of SpaceX, Gwynne Shotwell, reported that a rocket
launched in March which had a reused first stage was substantially less than half ... Show more

There is a challenge for TSTOs to overcome: air friction being directed on the vehicle from its
booster, while separating. The paper Aeroheating Characteristics for a Two Stage To Orbit Concept
During Separation at Mach 6 , investigates the issue. This study looked into the aeroheating on two
crafts when separating so one can make it into space, while the other, the first stage, returns to land.
The study found that in the small scale test conducted that there were not much negative effects of
heating from friction on one craft to the other. This would appear to be a positive development for
the TSTO community as it is possible to get a craft into space by attaching it to another.
As is seen in Investigation of Two Stage to Orbit Airbreathing Launch Vehicle Conп¬
Ѓgurations ,
there are many possible configurations for a TSTO. The kind this paper explored most was the
booster craft had the orbiter attacked on top of it, similar to how NASA transported the Shuttles on
top of a modified 747. Aeroheating Characteristics for a Two Stage To Orbit Concept During
Separation at Mach 6 shows the characteristics of aeroheating during the separation of the top
bottom configuration. The paper showed that it is possible for the top bottom configuration, and
that the aerodynamic forces from the two vehicles won t negatively affect each other.
TSTO launches have happened before, albeit

Abortion (Marry Anne Warren “on the Moral and Legal Status...
Abortion is the process by which an embryo or fetus is removed from the uterus, resulting in the
termination of a pregnancy. Natural or non induced abortions are commonly known as
miscarriages. Abortion has had a long and passionate history. It has been induced through various
methods ranging from, herbal medicines, and the use of sharpened tools, physical trauma, and other
traditional methods. The different legal and cultural views on abortiondiffer around the world, and

In Mill s Utilitarianism, he argues that the principle of utility is the foundation of all morality. In
other words, the greatest happiness principle says to choose the decision or action that in return
creates the greatest amount of happiness for all that that are involved. He says that every other
principle we follow are principles that we take into our lives based on the fact that they will
hopefully help us to better or quantify our happiness. Abortion satisfies John Stuart Mill s
description of Utilitarianism. Women get abortions for a variety of different reasons. Different
reasons for getting an abortion range from health concerns and rape, to simply not being ready to
take on the responsibility of having, providing, and taking care of another life. Whatever the
reason may be, abortion is not wrong. According to Utilitarianism, one should do what will make
them and everyone around them the happiest. Now, one could argue that having an abortion may
make the other people around the women unhappy. The simple reply to this is that a women s
decision to have an abortion has nothing to do with other people. Other people will not be going
through the pregnancy and will not have to take care of another human life. Just because one
doesn t agree with a women s decision to have an abortion does not mean that the decision to have
an abortion will make other peoples lives unhappy.

Analysis Of The Play Waiting For Godot
The play Waiting for Godot performed at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts
provides an impressive adaptation of Samuel Beckett s original work. First off, the Irish theatrical
troupe, Gare St Lazare, is one of the foremost specialist on Beckett s work, which includes modern
interpretations of his work in Waiting for Godot. This production combines a strong does of
slapstick comedy, which is typically found in the way Vladimir (Nathan Lane) and Estragon
(Bill Irwin) are often seen physically interacting with each other when taking off boots, running
about the circular stage, and other back slapping styles of Laurel and Hardy methods of
interaction. In comparison, Beckett s play tends to reveal the absurdity of poverty of the two
men, which is depicted in a more serious depiction of their wretched lives. For instance, in one
scene Beckett s Vladimir is more prone to somber bouts of violence in the original play: Enter
Vladimir, somber. He shoulders Lucky out of his way, kicks over the stool, comes and goes
agitatedly (36). In the Gare St Lazare production, the slapstick style of comedy is far less violent
in terms of projecting a more comedic view of poverty in the dire circumstances portrayed by
Lane s portrayal of Vladimir. However, there are some elements of the absurd, which are dictated
by the presentation of Beckett s play in a smaller venue, such as the Skirball Theater at New York
University. The Irishness of the play is typically found in the

Power Dressing Essay
Dress shabbily; people remember the clothes. Dress impeccably; people remember the woman .
Coco Chanel (as cited in Jedinak, 2014, para.5).
2.1 Power Dressing Concept and Evolution
As most authors believe that there is no farcicality in the idea that the major aspect of Power
Dressing is procuring power and achieving authority through self respect. Why would power be at
the core of power dressing, if it didn t accrue power? (McCauley, 2015, para.1).
Born in the second half of the 1970s and developed in the 1980s, the phenomenon of Power
Dressing is a fashion style that enables women to establish their authority and ability in a
professional and political environment traditionally dominated by men. The term Power Dressing
is relatable to a fashion style typical of the business and political environment of the 1970s and
1980s. Today the expression Power Dressing is no more commonly used, but the style is still very
popular.
Author, Anna Akbari, believes that Power Dressing could be analysed through symbolic

Power Dressing did involve a lot of heightening ambivalence around the female body and its
appearance, which was misleading in terms of equality while reaffirming gender hierarchy. We need
to focus on the paradox, as to how Power Dressing can shape and police women s bodies but also
provoke them, thus can be seen as a reassertion of feminine ideals. Moreover, vexingly, the Power
Dressing paradox is associated with risk avoidance and conformity rather than adventure, trail
blazing and innovation (Goodall, para.12,

Children In Medieval Europe
CHILDREN IN MEDIEVAL AND EARLY MODERN EUROPE

Children in medieval Europe played they same way as children before them and the children that
came after continued to play as those before had. Pieter Bruegel the Elder s painting, Children s
Games, painted in 1560, depicts children running around chasing each other, children playing with
hoops and sticks, girls are playing with dolls, children are dressing up and boys are engaging in
rougher play, play fighting. Children would often be found playing on the village green, in the
woodland and in the warmer months, swimming. Toys were available, if a family was wealthy

Children during the period would entertain themselves with games such as tag and follow the
leader. They would imitate their parents and other adults around them. Children would would
play with dolls, tea seats, miniature utensils and handmade play weapons. Parents or caregivers
would give children toys related to their future careers, for example if a young boy was to be a
farmer, he would be given toy animals. Due to high mortality rates children could not expect all of
their playmates to survive to adulthood. Due to the shorter life expectancy of people during this
time childhood and play were often cut short as early adolescents would start work. Children would
learn through play and prepare themselves for adulthood. Although they were not too interested in
the intricacies of adult life they were interested in mimicking various aspects of it such as staging
weddings, pretending to fight and creating their own play food. Children would enjoying listening
to music and watching performances. They would entertain themselves with nature, playing with

Social Media Integration Theory Of Isra Garcia (2010)
Social Media Integration Theory of Isra Garcia (2010)
According to Isra Garcia (2010), The exposure, feedback, engagement , connection and sharing that
Social Media platforms provides, creates a major changes for the traditional communication
understanding. The flow of communication is no longer considered as a one way street in which
audience received messages through the I communicate you receive mantra. Rather, Social Media
integration is seen as an interactive process in which there is more than two people communicating
to each other at the same time that enables same level information exchange among the users.
Social bookmarking sites such as blogs or web pages place content into an active eco system that
allows social media interaction such as Twitter or Facebook. This content is then partaked and
spread virally through the interaction made on the social media eco system. This refers to people
being connected to people through common groups, associations, and interests. Since this becomes
the six degrees of separation this interaction causes the viral effect. This social media platform
allows the interaction and the ability for the model to flow and become organic. Then, the social
networking platforms enable the connection with the public through the engagement approach
caused by the two way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Criticism In Voltaire s Candide
Candide is Voltaire s most known literary work and most extensively read pieces of literature in
French. His philosophical tale is a means to portray his ideas. Simultaneously, amuse his readers

main character in the tale. The philosophical idea embodies optimism that is opposed by Voltaires

The directing force of the journey in this novel is Candide s love for CunГ©gonde. He goes to

The readers comes across the daughter of a Pope; a Catholic priest must be celibate; a powerful
Catholic interrogator who deceitfully keeps a mistress; and a Franciscan friar who is an

Finally, Voltaire presents a Jesuit colonel with homosexual tendencies. Religious leaders carry
out coldhearted campaigns of religious suppression against those who vary with them on even
the minimum of religious matters. For example, Pangloss s study tyrannizes him for stating his
ideas and Candide for just presence of them. Voltaire inscribes about public oppression of

Benefits And Benefits Of Therapeutic Privilege
Aims and objectives
In medicine, because of the principles of self determination, the patient should be given all the
relevant information in order to allow them to give fully informed consent. However, when doctors
exercise the therapeutic privilege, they apply their professional opinion to assess when information
should be withheld. When a concept as fundamental as consent is undermined extensive research is
necessary. Hence, why I want to investigate doctors justifications and patients reactions to
therapeutic privilege.
Lawrie argues, even those most dedicated to patient autonomy will allow for the use of therapeutic
privilege. Therapeutic privilege occurs when information relating to treatment and the associated
risks is withheld because doctors believe disclosure will have a detrimental effect, to the extent that
recovery may be affected. Therapeutic privilege is judicially confirmed in Sidaway, and recognised
in subsequent cases such as Chester. Sidaway confirms that doctors must justify why they are
choosing not to fully disclose to the patient.
The research purpose is to assess the use of therapeutic privilege. Therefore my research has the
following two objectives:
To evaluate what justifications doctors have for using therapeutic privilege in practice.
To explore the opinions of previous patients in relation to not being allowed to give fully informed
consent and what effects they feel this may have.

Mentoring the Black Male
The research topic I plan to focus on involves studying the experiences of African American males
who have formed mentoring relationships as undergraduates, particularly when the mentor is a
Black male and the relationship takes place at Clemson or other PWIs in the south. In my opinion,
these relationships can have a profound impact on a student s ability to persist towards graduating
from college. Though my research, I want to hear the experiences of Black males who have
benefited from successful mentoring relationships with other Black men. As a mentor, I believe
that establishing a strong mentoring relationship with Black males at a young age can greatly
improve their chance of academic success. Furthermore, I believe that mentoring is a strong early
intervention mechanism to prevent Black males from dropping out of high school and deterring
them from pursuing degrees in higher education. At the same time, I would like my research
interest to focus on African Americanmales in the south, but I would like my scope to focus on
mentoring relationships between black men; both structured and unstructured. The Schott
Foundations Report (2008) on public education does a great job spelling out the educational
inequities in graduation rates and achievement gaps impacting African American males in the
United States, particularly in the south. The Schott Foundation on Public Education mission is to

The First Form Of Writing
All these years we have given credit to Europeans for contributions to the world but in reality the
ones who contributed to world developments were the Africans. we did not give them credit
because we saw them as a undeveloped continent that couldn t have contributed to the world.
Africans contributed lasting contributions to the world through their innovations with tools. Many
of these tool are academics, architecture ,astronomy, medicine, and agriculture. African contribution
to the world of academics was writing. One of the types of writing was hieroglyphics.
Hieroglyphics was the first form of writing in Africa. Many of the African works were done by oral
storytelling traditions. The form of writing of hieroglyphics has become modern with time. The
Britannica encyclopedia states that the oral and written story telling have been developing parallel
and have influenced each other. this is saying that the the oral stories and the written have been
developing with time and has been changing. Another African contribution to the world is math. I
learned that the modern high school level concepts in math were first developed in Africa. In Arica
the first counting method was done. The Article Great Achievements in Science and Technology in
Ancient Africa states that 35,000 years ago Egyptians scripted textbook in math containing division
and multiplication of fractions, geometric formulas of shapes to calculate area and volume, distance

The Pros And Cons Of Vaccines For Animals
Administering vaccines to companion animals is a common practice intended to prevent the
contraction of specific diseases by our pets. Like in humans, animals can be protected from
illness by staying up to date on their vaccinations, which can range from once every six months
to once every three years if kept current. However, there are those who choose not to vaccinate
their pets and do not believe that vaccines are effective or safe. Is this mindset acceptable, or can
it be considered dangerous? Is it necessary to vaccinate our pets? Are there risks to getting regular
vaccines, and if so, what are they? A vaccineis, by definition, a preparation of killed
microorganisms, living attenuated organisms, or living fully virulent organisms that is
administered to produce or artificially increase immunity to a particular disease (Merriam
Webster, n.d.). In other words, living or killed viruses or bacteria are injected into the body and
used to create antibodies for diseases caused by those viruses or bacteria. For example, the disease
leptospirosis is caused by coming into contact with Leptospira bacteria through ingestion, being
bitten by an infected animal, or having an open wound or mucous membrane that can allow the
bacteria to enter the body. It is also a zoonotic disease, meaning that humans can contract it from
their dogs, although this is uncommon (AVMA, n.d.). However, getting a yearly leptospirosis
vaccine can help protect dogs from getting infected by the bacteria

been involved in these activities in the past. And how these experiences varied by the contribution
towards my own wellbeing. I will then evaluate this to make strategies for my future lifelong
wellbeing in the future what it should look like.
Physical activities and experiences that I paraitcaped in as I grew up I mainly found swim
sessions, ball rush, golf and cricket as positive experiences as we did them with my family and
younger friends which I really enjoyed doing I found rugby to become a negative experience for
me. As in rugby my friends had stopped playing, as I was too small and got smashed from the

What is a Malignant Neoplasm?
A malignant neoplasm is a tumor composed of poorly differentiated cells. Neo means new and
plasm refers to cells. The word neoplasm refers to abnormal overgrowth of cells rather than healthy

available for treating malignant cancer include surgery and chemotherapy. However, once metastasis
has occurred, the prognosis is poor and treatment is very complicated.
Some of the main types of cancer are described below:
Leukemia This affects the tissues that make blood, such as the bone marrow. Large numbers of
abnormal cells are produced in the bone marrow, which then spread to the bloodstream
Carcinoma This begins in the skin or tissues that line organs.

Essay about How Christians Interpret And Celebrate The...
How Christians Interpret And Celebrate The Last Supper Today
Holy Communion is very important in Christian worship. This is the occasion on which the priest
distributes bread and wine. This is one is of the seven Sacraments. A Sacrament is a physical act
with a spiritual meaning. It takes the form of a ceremony intended to reveal and to give a greater
sense of closeness to God. The spiritual meaning of Holy Communion is togetherness with God and
each other.
During Holy Communion the priest takes the bread and wine, gives thanks to God, breaks the bread
and then gives them to the worshipers. This is known as the Fourfold Eucharistic actions. Eucharist
means thanksgiving. So the Eucharist or Holy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This serves the purpose of remembering the Last Supper and also brings a feeling of closeness
with God, Jesus and each other. It will also remind Christians of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Holy Communion has four main meanings. The first is remembrance. Holy Communion
commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Corinthians 11:23 25 writes that Jesus
took and broke the bread, referred to it as his body and said, Do this in remembrance of me.
Similarly after the supper he took a cup and referred to it as, the new covenant in my blood and
said, Do this whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.
The second is participation. Jesus did more than just take and break the bread and take and pour
the wine. He gave these things to the disciples to eat, thus he was involving them in the last supper.
So today the Last supper is more than just a commemoration, where we remember a past event, it is
a communion in which we participate in the remembrance and share in its benefits.
The apostle Paul wrote: is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in
the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? (1
Corinthians 10:16)
This show that in Holy Communion we are meant to participate and share in

Food can be significant in people s lives for many...
Both Titus Andronicus and Grandpa s soup serve the purpose of entertaining the reader in
juxtaposing ways. Titus Andronicus is illustrative of the alarming horror that certain types of
cooking and food reinforce, whereas Grandpa s soup is representative of the warmth and affection
that certain types of food and cooking can bring. Themes portrayed in these texts such as death,
mortality, celebration, desperation, love and hate are looked at from completely different angles
through the literary techniques displayed by both writers, which will be analyzed and discussed in
this essay.
First of all, the celebratory atmosphere created in both texts highlight the horror/happiness. For
example, in Titus Andronicus, ingredients of human flesh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In contrast, Grandpa s Soup signifies that Grandpa s cooking provides her with genuine pleasure
not just contentment or satisfaction but something greater therefore she goes onto talk about her
fear of losing him, which overcasts a melancholic shadow over the whole poem. The writer
understands that death is a natural process that she cannot stop but she goes on to say how it will
affect her living life as she will be emotionally torn apart and carry the burden of pain throughout
with the absence of her Grandpa and his remedial soup.
There is evidence of figurative language that is very effective in outlining and comprehending
the character s point of view in Grandpa s Soup for example the simile like a rich island in the
middle of the soup sea . The hyperbole assists in getting her ideas across. Describing the soup as
a sea represents the depth of the character s feelings associated with the soup, and her Grandpa.
This is reinforced by the yearning that is evident through her language, for example he knows I
will grow and pine for it. I will fall ill and desperately need it this could be seen as deep emotive
language that shows her desperation and strong will to hold onto her Grandpa forever and the
fact that she draws from the semantic field of health shows that the soup is so important to her it s
like a cure or a medicine for all her illnesses. The desperate people

Biofuels As A Fuel Source
Biofuels as a Fuel Source: Paper 3 In a time of energy crisis and a subsequent search for a
renewable replacement for crude oil, biofuels have arisen as a source of hope. Currently, the largest
source of biofuels in the United States is corn based ethanol. The large scale of corn ethanol
production and the potential promise of finding a domestic, reliable source of energy, requires the
fuel s viability as a replacement for crude oil to be evaluated. However, there is debate surrounding
corn based ethanol s environmental, economic, and social impacts. The scientists and governments
who support the development of biofuels claim that it will not only provide a new and sustainable
source of energy but also that it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is therefore better for the
environment. However, although corn based ethanol continues to harbor support from the United
States government, environmentalists argue that ethanol is not substantially better for the
environment, especially when the effects of its production are taken into account. Also, while some
larger farms profit from ethanol production, it places economic stress upon smaller farms and the
agricultural industry and leads to higher food prices that are a great detriment to those living at the
level of subsistence. Therefore, in order to produce energy efficient, environmentally friendly fuel,
the United States must work towards developing cellulosic biofuels and those produced by
microbes as they have

College Education Problems
Why the education system is flawed many students over the years due to the poor support they
provided? The education system in the United States has problems over the years because it has
some flaws of helping students to succeed. Students who attend community college or university
will have issues that will cause them to be in debt or could not complete it. The system tried
many ways to bring students accomplish their degree, but the problem is that students face issues
that will affect their goal of reaching their degree. The system has changed in order to fix some
problems; however, the results make the prices for most colleges so high that not many students
could afford. Not many students are rich because most students are on the benefits from social
security or working. Students who need help are most likely be the ones who will fail at a higher
rate of the lack of support from college. Most colleges are not doing the right job to solve the
system; however, they did make some input such as financial aid and tuition for certain classes.
Many college students drop out of school due to problems exist such as the lack of preparation,
lack of globalism language, and financial aid needs.
First, the problem of the education system has enrolled new students that were unprepared in most
colleges. Community college (or four year college) is a school that brought students from high
school to learn advanced education by learning the college basics and focusing on their career.

Los Chinos is not a typical slum. The vast majority of its inhabitants are children of the rich who

The Gross Domestic Product. GDP is the total dollar amount value of all goods and services

a country being less than imports. Data is collected and output is measured. The second measure is

management will result in greater output. Labor productivity is a measurement of a worker s

The Development Of Drug Addiction Essay
Undoubtedly, a huge role in the women abuses plays by the biological characteristics of the
development of drug addiction. The most important are features of a constitution and hormonal
difference, which significantly affect the pharmacokinetics of drugs (NIAA, 2015). In general,
women have a lower activity of hepatic enzymes related to drug metabolism. Resulting from the
body weight and a higher ratio of fat tissue in relation to the muscle, there is a higher concentration
of surfactant in the blood of women compared to men even while receiving similar doses of
substance. A larger amount of adipose tissue significantly increases the absorption of lipophilic
surfactants (PCP, marijuana) and their subsequent slow release. The action of drugs on the central
nervous system also depends significantly on the human sexual affiliation. It is connected with the
central mechanisms of neurotransmission mesocorticolimbic system in women, leading to a higher
concentration of dopamine (Scott, 2015). In conclusion, it can be said that females are less resistant
to the drugs, which leads to the faster habituation to complications when trying to overcome the
addiction.
Another aspect to highlight lies in the scopes of the development of alcohol or drug abuse is the
genetical factors of inheritance and genetic factors. Of course, there are numerous debates in the
discussion labelled as nature or nurture, but the inheritance cannot be ignored. One of the research
establishes that alcoholism

into the vast horizons of globalization, the conflict has built up tremendous momentum and has
called into question the adequacy of our current attempts at coming to a peaceful resolution that can
simultaneously and successfully address both sides of the struggle. The purpose of this paper has
been to understand the prospect of a two state nation solution for Israeland Palestine. The
discussion arises a retrospective view of the context behind the present analysis. We begin with a
discourse that informs the reader of the historical narrative between the Jewish inhabitants of Israel
and the Palestinians who also seek to live in the lands which comprise Israel. At the forefront of the
discussion are some key issues such as trends in Israeli settlementexpansion over time, the manner
in which these settlements create political challenges towards the prospect of a two state solution,
and the fragmentation of power within Palestinian political parties which inhibit the opportunity for
proper negotiations amongst the two parties. Finally, we delve into a discussion on nationalism, it s
importance in the discussion of a two state solution, and the challenges posed when trying to

euthanasiawill be introduced and discussed, this will be done using an example of a slippery slope
argumentby John Keown from his book Euthanasia, ethics and public policy: and argument against
legalization. From this example, the moralityof euthanasia will be discussed as to whether slippery
slope arguments show that euthanasia is immoral. Lastly, euthanasia will be discussed with
reference utilitarianism, and if euthanasia would potentially be viewed as a good or moral
option by utilitarian theory or if it would be viewed as immoral. Slippery slope arguments are
often used to argue that if we allow something to become legal we will be stepping onto the
slippery slope to allowing something viewed as morally wrong to also become legal. These
arguments are used often within society, although most of the time they are used in a casual
manner and the distance between point A and B is so large they are not taken seriously,
(Spielthenner, 2010; Jefferson, 2014). For that reason slippery slope arguments as a general idea
are not considered to be good logical arguments. So, slippery slope

Bronfenbrenner Analysis
Theoretical Lens Bronfenbrenner s ecology of human development is central to this study, which
aims to explore how relocation beneficiaries perceive or experience their assigned lot. Such
information could assist in understanding their experiences from the perspective of the ecology of
human development theory. Bronfenbrenner explores the interrelationships between human beings,
their surroundings, and their interactions with regard to different ecological levels, in an effort to
understand the subtle influences that these levels have on the individual. Specifically,
Bronfenbrenner s ecological theory of human development and the role that transition to a new lot
may play in the lives of the occupants are explored in this chapter. Bronfenbrenner s

The Disaster Of Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was a catastrophic natural disaster in American history. The aftermath had
substantial negative impact on New Orleans and it could have been avoided if proper disaster
management practices were put in place. Therefore, it is important to determine the factors that
caused the hurricane to be catastrophic. One factor that was responsible for the disaster was failure
of the three levels of the government working cohesively (Thiede Brown, 2013). The incoherent
interaction between the three levels of government will be assessed. Another factor that will be
examined is social and psychological refusal of Hurricane Katrina(Thiede Brown, 2013). Lastly, the
improper constriction levees and floodwalls will be addressed (Thiede Brown, 2013). By narrowing
down the substantial factors, the government and public can learn from the disaster management
mistakes of Hurricane Katrina so aftermath effects can be prevented/alleviated in the future.
Recommendations for improving disaster management practices can also be provided and would
be beneficial in saving many lives.
Introduction
Hurricane Katrina is the most expensive natural disaster in American history (Kates et al., 2006).
This is supported by the statistics from August 2006, where the death total surpassed 1836 and the
cost of the destruction was projected to be near $108 billion (Kates et al., 2006). On August 29, it
made landfall in Louisiana as a category 3 Hurricane and its aftermath was devastating

Erikson s Eight Stages Of Psychosocial Development
When I look back to my transition to college and how my family has supported me throughout
my life, I realized that many developmental theories could apply. In Erikson s Eight Stages of
Psychosocial Development, he uses different ranges of age to portray one s crises and dilemmas
in various stages of life (Bjorklund, 2015). As an 18 year old college student, I feel connected to
the fifth stage of Erikson s Stages of Psychosocial Development: Identity versus Role Confusion.
In the fifth stage, Erikson describes that during the ages 13 18, most teens are transitioning to
young adults and this is the stage in human development where they are trying to find their
identity in their occupation, gender/sex role, religion, and politics (Bjorklund, 2015). Either they
have found their identity or they have failed to find their identity which leads into a role
confusion. During my transition into college, I experienced an identity crisis for not knowing
what I wanted to study or pursue as a career. Before I came to college, I was considering a career
in Math and I thought I knew what I wanted to study. However, as I grew older and saw different
perspectives of my intended career as a college student, I changed my mind. Although I have begun
to answer some of these questions about gender roles, religion, and politics, I am still uncertain of
my occupational identity. Although Erikson s stages of human development might have fit with the
expectations in his generation, I think his

The Bombing of Hiroshima Essay
The Bombing of Hiroshima On August 6, 1945, a B 29 bomber named Enola Gay dropped an
atomic bomb, little boy on Hiroshima, Japan. Hiroshima had been almost eradicated with an
estimated 70 80,000 people killed. Three days later, a second, more powerful bomb was dropped
on the Japanese city of Nagasaki, killing over 100,000 people. Since Japan was economically
and militarily devastated by the late summer of 1945, the use of the atomic bombs on an already
overcome Japan was unnecessary and unwarranted in bringing about a conclusion to the war in the
Pacific. By the end of the war, the U.S. forces had pushed the Japanese far back into their country,
leaving them no access to any resources from the Indies. Japanese cities and... Show more content

A similar reasoning could be applied to the usage of the second bomb, fat man, which was
dropped on Nagasaki three days later. One could wonder if the motive behind this second attack
was similar to the first; the only difference being that the bomb to be tested this time was
considerably more powerful. The final say on whether or not to drop the bomb came from
President Harry Truman, who had help from a special committee known as the Interim
Committee. This organization was made up of Secretary Stimson as chairman; President Truman
s personal representative, James F. Byrnes; the Under Secretary of the Navy, William L. Clayton;
and the Assistant Secretary of State as well as many others. The work of the Interim Committee
was to discuss the uses of the bomb and whether or not it would be wise to use nuclear force
against Japan in combat. On July 1, 1945, the committee submitted a report to President Truman
stating that: 1. The bomb should be used against Japan as soon as possible. 2. It should be used
against a military target surrounded by other buildings. 3. It should be used without prior warning
of the nature of the weapon. The Interim Committee decided against warning the Japanese about
the atomic bomb because they claimed that they weren t sure if it would detonate. Not one of the
Chiefs nor the Secretary thought well of a bomb

The Background And Nature Of The Movement For National...
Garibaldi went to the USA, Austria backed out of the war therefore handing Lombardy to
Sardinia. Treaty of Zurich ends northern Italy tension. Tuscany, Modena, and Parma seek
annexation by Sardinia. Italy was scattered during the 1850s but came together in the 1860s and
70s to really become a world power. Piedmont became the unlikely unifying power of Italy. Victor
Emmanuel II was the driving force. Sardinia fought against Russia in the Crimean war and won.
Sardinia was overall different because while being small they managed to get a lot done to further
the unification of Italy.
Explain the background and nature of the movement for national unification in Italy. What role had
Mazzini played? What had happened in 1848 to the unification movement?
After the fall of Napoleon, Italy was controlled mostly by Austria and the Habsburgs. The
movement for national unification in Italy started with revolts and demanding change to the kings.
Nationalists were influenced by other people in other countries that had successfully revolted, for
example like in Spain in 1820. The Kingdom of Two Sicilies was conquered and convinced the king
to establish a new constitution. Mazzini helped with Italian unification by creating a secret society
called Young Italy. The goal of Mazzini s new group was to promote nationalism and convince
people why there should be a unified Italy. In 1848, revolutions all over Italy occurred because
nationalists did not want Austria to have control over them.

The Seventh Seal Analysis
The Seventh Seal follows the knight, Antonius Block, his squire Jon, his actor friends Mia, Jof and
their son Michael, as well several other members of their acting troupe. Antonius and his squire
have just returned home from the Crusades, during which Antonius had become disenchanted with
life and began to feel abandoned by God. At the beginning of the film, the knight is met on a beach
by Death in the form of a man. Believing Death has come to kill him, Antonius challenges him to a
game of chesswhich continues throughout the film. Along the way home, Antonius befriends
several members of an acting troupe and invites them back to his castle in an attempt to save them
from the plague ravaging the country. In their travels, they meet the Flagellants, who march through
towns in a group whipping themselves in an attempt to repent for the sins they believe brought the
plague on. Jof is the only other character able to see the chess match with Death. Antonius
intentionally distracts Death so that Jof and his family may escape. However, Antonius loses the
match in the next move. In the final scene of the movie, Jof sees Death, the knight and his
followers dancing in a field.
A central theme in The Seventh Seal is the ever looming presence of death in the lives of medieval
Europeans. The characters in The Seventh Seal are all presented with the reality of their mortality
as they face the horrors of the plague spreading throughout the country. In the movie, Death is
embodied by a

Importance Of New Year In Iran
New Year is one of the highlights of the year. For many, it is a time they spend with their loved
one and count down until midnight to start the first day of the new year. New Year means new
hopes, new adventures, new opportunities, and most importantly new beginnings. Every new year
brings a great story for us to begin. All around the world, people celebrate the new yearand start a
fresh year that is filled with happiness and joy. For example, some celebrate Rosh Hashanah,
which is the Jewish new year that is celebrated on September 20th, or Chinese New Year, which is
celebrated between January 21st and February 20th. There so many other new years that each
country and culture celebrates every year. So today I will tell you about a new year celebration
that you might not have heard of. The Iranians celebrate Nowruzevery year, which is also known as
the Persian New Year. In Farsi, now means new and ruz means day. I am originally from Iran
and I
moved to the United States when I was 9 years old. Every year, my family and I gather around
and celebrate Nowruz together. Nowruz is the day of the vernal equinox and marks the begging
of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. It is actually celebrated for over 3,000 years by various of
different cultures and people of all religions. The day that is usually celebrated between March 20
to March 22. Iranians usually have some rituals in order to prepare for the upcoming year. One of
these is the house cleaning and shopping

Summary Of Carter Father Of Black History Month
Carter G. Woodson formally known as the Father of Black History Month was an extraordinarily
wise man who dedicated his life time to African American History. His most famous pieces of
writings was his book The Mis Education of the Negro in which many topics are discussed for
example education, business, politics, religion, self hatred, and black on black prejudice, which I
exceptionally believe is a very negative dilemma in the present day society. An abundant amount of
what Woodson wrote about in nineteen thirtythree about blacks minds being controlled through the
white people in economics, history, literature, philosophy and religion I strongly agree is still, to an
extent the problem today. Is Carter. G Woodson s thoughts in 1933

This like then is still negatively affecting the black children being taught these biased history
because it is teaching them that we was nothing but slaves who picked cotton on plantations. If
they are lucky the book may mention a sentence or two about Frederick Douglass and Harriet
Tubman, but for the most part that is all black people contributed to history. Which installs at an
early age in black children that we are not as smart, skilled, and important as the white man.
Education was not the only aspect Woodson discussed in his book that is still prevalent today.
Correspondingly, politics also is an aspect Woodson discussed in The Mis Education of the
Negro that is prevalent in present day society. Woodson quotes, ANOTHER factor the Negro
needs is a new figure in politics, one who will not concern himself so much with what others can
do for him as with what he can do for himself (Woodson chap. 17 par. 1). In Woodson s book
when he talks about politics like the quote above he says how black people need to make a way
for themselves and respect themselves instead of being so dependent on the white man s
government that has been against black people from the beginning. What Woodson spoke about is
still prevalent in the society today but to an extent. It is prevalent because

Don John Character Analysis
When thinking about the well known comedy Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare
the audience is quick to focus on the wit and comedy that the play has to offer, rather than the
understated villain who easily disappears in the background. While reading the play, one can posit
that Don John is not the typical villain who acts with a specific motive in mind, rather, he is acting
out of an obligation he feels to serve as an antagonist considering his position as a bastard. This is
demonstrated in his dialogue, which reveals his inner turmoil on being chained to the villainous
role and his willingness to act on any malicious opportunity that presents itself to him. This is
significant in that, it provides another layer to our villain and causes the audienceto think beyond
the first layer that is easily presented, and into the true inner motives of the character.
Don John claims that the resentment people have towards him is rooted in the fact that he is a
bastard and any friendly intentions towards him are fraudulent ones. From the beginning of the play
Don John does not come across as a friendly figure, especially compared to the rest of the soldiers
that come with the party to Messina in a flourish of good and excitement. As Leonato welcomes the
party he seems to implicate that he is extending the welcome on to Don John, because of his
relationship with Don Pedro, the prince and his brother. Don John remarks in a conversation, ...it

Father And Son In Henry IV, Part 1
Fathers and sons To me the relationship of a father and son is a deep bond that two beings can
have. From a young child s point of view, his father is his main male role model. As a result, many
children when young may want to be like their fathers when they grow up. Although this may
change as children grow up and are introduced to new ideas and try to figure out who they are, this
is where the father is either understanding of his sons choices or against them. As young adults, we
don t like to be told what to do or be criticized for our choices, so if we find solace in someone
else who understands us and does not judge us, we view that person more highly almost fatherly,
but though you view that person highly you know that he cannot take the place of your blood
father. In the play Henry IV, Part 1 we are introduced to King Henry, who is Hal s father and the
new monarch of Great Britain. Henry became the new monarch by overthrowing King Richard. I
can only imagine the amount of pressure he most have trying to prove that he is a worthy king
since he did not obtain the throne through bloodline. In Act 1, scene 1, Henry is talking to
Westmoreland about Prince Hal. From the first line Henry sets this tone of disappointment when
speaking of his son Hal. Yea, there thou mak st me sad, and mak st me sin. In envy that lord
Northumberland should be the father to so blessed a son. Henry is not proud to have Hal as his
son. Henry is so ashamed that he begins to praise

  • 2. Personal Narrative-Joker s Fight Everywhere the sounds of explosions roared. IEDs, we found E.O.D., who was with us quickly disposed of them. Headquarters ordered us to move up the side of a hill when all hell broke loose. Gunfire crackled around us. Ping, Ping, Ping, thud, and then the whine of ricochets left us no time to properly put in our ear defenders. A few of us often left them out for when we talked together. In the fight, E.O.D. took up a rearguard action as we advanced up the hill. Shrapnel from rocks struck one of my lads in the neck. Firing wildly in every direction I raced to his side. Moving towards him, my position became exposed. An insurgent took advantage of the situation. A well aimed shot hit my shoulder at the edge of my tactical vest. I continued ... It was useless. Cowboy glanced in my direction. I felt helpless, not able to assist him and hopelessly outnumbered. Suddenly a light exploded all around Cowboy. The bastards, they nailed him. He took it in the throat, ripping his wide jugular open. It was over in seconds. I took another round in the thigh. Knocked off my feet by the impact, I felt dazed. What Are The Positive And Negative Effects Of Mosquito According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, every year more than 1.5 million people around the globe lose their lives due to mosquito borne diseases (2012). A mosquito is an insect which lives around the world, especially in tropical and subtropical countries. The mosquito has both positive and negative effects. As part of positive effects, larvae of mosquitoes are food for fish and dragonflies, and when mosquitoes consume nectar, they help the flowers to pollinate. On the other hand, mosquitoes make people annoyed and cause many diseases. World Health Organization (2016) explains that the mosquitois the greatest menace which causes many diseases and they are responsible for more than million deaths and cases every year. There are many diseases that caused by mosquitoes, but the diseases are commonly found and get people s attention because they have many negative effects on people such as malaria, dengue fever, and Zika virus disease. • 5. The Benefits Of A Single Stage To Orbit A Single Stage to Orbit (SSTO) spaceplane would have many advantages over current methods of getting people and equipment into space. Chief among these is major cost reduction. SSTOs would be fully reusable, being that they are meant to send people to space and bring them back. A fully reusable single stage space plane would have an advantage over a fully reusable rocket booster, similar to what was used on the shuttle, and what is being used as the first stage on SpaceX s Falcon 9. In fact, the Falcon 9 has already started to pay off to SpaceX. According to an article from SpaceNews.com, the President of SpaceX, Gwynne Shotwell, reported that a rocket launched in March which had a reused first stage was substantially less than half ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a challenge for TSTOs to overcome: air friction being directed on the vehicle from its booster, while separating. The paper Aeroheating Characteristics for a Two Stage To Orbit Concept During Separation at Mach 6 , investigates the issue. This study looked into the aeroheating on two crafts when separating so one can make it into space, while the other, the first stage, returns to land. The study found that in the small scale test conducted that there were not much negative effects of heating from friction on one craft to the other. This would appear to be a positive development for the TSTO community as it is possible to get a craft into space by attaching it to another. As is seen in Investigation of Two Stage to Orbit Airbreathing Launch Vehicle Conп¬ Ѓgurations , there are many possible configurations for a TSTO. The kind this paper explored most was the booster craft had the orbiter attacked on top of it, similar to how NASA transported the Shuttles on top of a modified 747. Aeroheating Characteristics for a Two Stage To Orbit Concept During Separation at Mach 6 shows the characteristics of aeroheating during the separation of the top bottom configuration. The paper showed that it is possible for the top bottom configuration, and that the aerodynamic forces from the two vehicles won t negatively affect each other. Natural or non induced abortions are commonly known as miscarriages. Abortion has had a long and passionate history. It has been induced through various methods ranging from, herbal medicines, and the use of sharpened tools, physical trauma, and other traditional methods. The different legal and cultural views on abortiondiffer around the world, and in many regions of the world public debate over the ethicsand legal ramifications of abortion are intense. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mill s Utilitarianism, he argues that the principle of utility is the foundation of all morality. In other words, the greatest happiness principle says to choose the decision or action that in return creates the greatest amount of happiness for all that that are involved. He says that every other principle we follow are principles that we take into our lives based on the fact that they will hopefully help us to better or quantify our happiness. Abortion satisfies John Stuart Mill s description of Utilitarianism. Women get abortions for a variety of different reasons. Different reasons for getting an abortion range from health concerns and rape, to simply not being ready to take on the responsibility of having, providing, and taking care of another life. Whatever the reason may be, abortion is not wrong. According to Utilitarianism, one should do what will make them and everyone around them the happiest. Now, one could argue that having an abortion may make the other people around the women unhappy. The simple reply to this is that a women s decision to have an abortion has nothing to do with other people. Other people will not be going through the pregnancy and will not have to take care of another human life. Just because one doesn t agree with a women s decision to have an abortion does not mean that the decision to have an abortion will make other peoples lives unhappy. ... • 7. Analysis Of The Play Waiting For Godot The play Waiting for Godot performed at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts provides an impressive adaptation of Samuel Beckett s original work. First off, the Irish theatrical troupe, Gare St Lazare, is one of the foremost specialist on Beckett s work, which includes modern interpretations of his work in Waiting for Godot. This production combines a strong does of slapstick comedy, which is typically found in the way Vladimir (Nathan Lane) and Estragon (Bill Irwin) are often seen physically interacting with each other when taking off boots, running about the circular stage, and other back slapping styles of Laurel and Hardy methods of interaction. In comparison, Beckett s play tends to reveal the absurdity of poverty of the two men, which is depicted in a more serious depiction of their wretched lives. For instance, in one scene Beckett s Vladimir is more prone to somber bouts of violence in the original play: Enter Vladimir, somber. He shoulders Lucky out of his way, kicks over the stool, comes and goes agitatedly (36). In the Gare St Lazare production, the slapstick style of comedy is far less violent in terms of projecting a more comedic view of poverty in the dire circumstances portrayed by Lane s portrayal of Vladimir. However, there are some elements of the absurd, which are dictated by the presentation of Beckett s play in a smaller venue, such as the Skirball Theater at New York University. The Irishness of the play is typically found in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coco Chanel (as cited in Jedinak, 2014, para.5). 2.1 Power Dressing Concept and Evolution As most authors believe that there is no farcicality in the idea that the major aspect of Power Dressing is procuring power and achieving authority through self respect. Why would power be at the core of power dressing, if it didn t accrue power? (McCauley, 2015, para.1). Born in the second half of the 1970s and developed in the 1980s, the phenomenon of Power Dressing is a fashion style that enables women to establish their authority and ability in a professional and political environment traditionally dominated by men. The term Power Dressing is relatable to a fashion style typical of the business and political environment of the 1970s and 1980s. Social Media Integration Theory Of Isra Garcia (2010) Social Media Integration Theory of Isra Garcia (2010) According to Isra Garcia (2010), The exposure, feedback, engagement , connection and sharing that Social Media platforms provides, creates a major changes for the traditional communication understanding. The flow of communication is no longer considered as a one way street in which audience received messages through the I communicate you receive mantra. Rather, Social Media integration is seen as an interactive process in which there is more than two people communicating to each other at the same time that enables same level information exchange among the users. Social bookmarking sites such as blogs or web pages place content into an active eco system that allows social media interaction such as Twitter or Facebook. This content is then partaked and spread virally through the interaction made on the social media eco system. This refers to people being connected to people through common groups, associations, and interests. Since this becomes the six degrees of separation this interaction causes the viral effect. • 14. Benefits And Benefits Of Therapeutic Privilege Aims and objectives In medicine, because of the principles of self determination, the patient should be given all the relevant information in order to allow them to give fully informed consent. However, when doctors exercise the therapeutic privilege, they apply their professional opinion to assess when information should be withheld. When a concept as fundamental as consent is undermined extensive research is necessary. Hence, why I want to investigate doctors justifications and patients reactions to therapeutic privilege. Lawrie argues, even those most dedicated to patient autonomy will allow for the use of therapeutic privilege. Therapeutic privilege occurs when information relating to treatment and the associated risks is withheld because doctors believe disclosure will have a detrimental effect, to the extent that recovery may be affected. Therapeutic privilege is judicially confirmed in Sidaway, and recognised in subsequent cases such as Chester. Sidaway confirms that doctors must justify why they are choosing not to fully disclose to the patient. The research purpose is to assess the use of therapeutic privilege. Therefore my research has the following two objectives: To evaluate what justifications doctors have for using therapeutic privilege in practice. To explore the opinions of previous patients in relation to not being allowed to give fully informed consent and what effects they feel this may have. Though my research, I want to hear the experiences of Black males who have benefited from successful mentoring relationships with other Black men. As a mentor, I believe that establishing a strong mentoring relationship with Black males at a young age can greatly improve their chance of academic success. Furthermore, I believe that mentoring is a strong early intervention mechanism to prevent Black males from dropping out of high school and deterring them from pursuing degrees in higher education. At the same time, I would like my research interest to focus on African Americanmales in the south, but I would like my scope to focus on mentoring relationships between black men; both structured and unstructured. The First Form Of Writing All these years we have given credit to Europeans for contributions to the world but in reality the ones who contributed to world developments were the Africans. we did not give them credit because we saw them as a undeveloped continent that couldn t have contributed to the world. Africans contributed lasting contributions to the world through their innovations with tools. Many of these tool are academics, architecture ,astronomy, medicine, and agriculture. African contribution to the world of academics was writing. One of the types of writing was hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics was the first form of writing in Africa. Many of the African works were done by oral storytelling traditions. The form of writing of hieroglyphics has become modern with time. The Britannica encyclopedia states that the oral and written story telling have been developing parallel and have influenced each other. this is saying that the the oral stories and the written have been developing with time and has been changing. Like in humans, animals can be protected from illness by staying up to date on their vaccinations, which can range from once every six months to once every three years if kept current. However, there are those who choose not to vaccinate their pets and do not believe that vaccines are effective or safe. Is this mindset acceptable, or can it be considered dangerous? Is it necessary to vaccinate our pets? Are there risks to getting regular vaccines, and if so, what are they? A vaccineis, by definition, a preparation of killed microorganisms, living attenuated organisms, or living fully virulent organisms that is administered to produce or artificially increase immunity to a particular disease (Merriam Webster, n.d.). In other words, living or killed viruses or bacteria are injected into the body and used to create antibodies for diseases caused by those viruses or bacteria. For example, the disease leptospirosis is caused by coming into contact with Leptospira bacteria through ingestion, being bitten by an infected animal, or having an open wound or mucous membrane that can allow the bacteria to enter the body. And how these experiences varied by the contribution towards my own wellbeing. I will then evaluate this to make strategies for my future lifelong wellbeing in the future what it should look like. Physical activities and experiences that I paraitcaped in as I grew up I mainly found swim sessions, ball rush, golf and cricket as positive experiences as we did them with my family and younger friends which I really enjoyed doing I found rugby to become a negative experience for me. As in rugby my friends had stopped playing, as I was too small and got smashed from the larger players so I participated in other activities. Rugby is a national sport in New Zealand and I have the assumption of being played by large muscular males and most New Zealand children when growing up. Which in my case is not true as I m more towards the ectomorph body shape which proves the assumption that the bigger mesomorph players tended to be better than I was at the time. A positive of this rugby expericne was that it is a sport that I ve had not family influences to participate in it as many of the sports I do play have, which can be a positive from this experience. This is the occasion on which the priest distributes bread and wine. This is one is of the seven Sacraments. A Sacrament is a physical act with a spiritual meaning. It takes the form of a ceremony intended to reveal and to give a greater sense of closeness to God. The spiritual meaning of Holy Communion is togetherness with God and each other. This serves the purpose of remembering the Last Supper and also brings a feeling of closeness with God, Jesus and each other. It will also remind Christians of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Holy Communion has four main meanings. The first is remembrance. Holy Communion commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Corinthians 11:23 25 writes that Jesus took and broke the bread, referred to it as his body and said, Do this in remembrance of me. Similarly after the supper he took a cup and referred to it as, the new covenant in my blood and said, Do this whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. The second is participation. Jesus did more than just take and break the bread and take and pour the wine. He gave these things to the disciples to eat, thus he was involving them in the last supper. So today the Last supper is more than just a commemoration, where we remember a past event, it is a communion in which we participate in the remembrance and share in its benefits. The apostle Paul wrote: is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Titus Andronicus is illustrative of the alarming horror that certain types of cooking and food reinforce, whereas Grandpa s soup is representative of the warmth and affection that certain types of food and cooking can bring. Themes portrayed in these texts such as death, mortality, celebration, desperation, love and hate are looked at from completely different angles through the literary techniques displayed by both writers, which will be analyzed and discussed in this essay. In contrast, Grandpa s Soup signifies that Grandpa s cooking provides her with genuine pleasure not just contentment or satisfaction but something greater therefore she goes onto talk about her fear of losing him, which overcasts a melancholic shadow over the whole poem. The writer understands that death is a natural process that she cannot stop but she goes on to say how it will affect her living life as she will be emotionally torn apart and carry the burden of pain throughout with the absence of her Grandpa and his remedial soup. There is evidence of figurative language that is very effective in outlining and comprehending the character s point of view in Grandpa s Soup for example the simile like a rich island in the middle of the soup sea . The hyperbole assists in getting her ideas across. Describing the soup as a sea represents the depth of the character s feelings associated with the soup, and her Grandpa. This is reinforced by the yearning that is evident through her language, for example he knows I will grow and pine for it. I will fall ill and desperately need it this could be seen as deep emotive language that shows her desperation and strong will to hold onto her Grandpa forever and the fact that she draws from the semantic field of health shows that the soup is so important to her it s like a cure or a medicine for all her illnesses. Biofuels As A Fuel Source Biofuels as a Fuel Source: Paper 3 In a time of energy crisis and a subsequent search for a renewable replacement for crude oil, biofuels have arisen as a source of hope. Currently, the largest source of biofuels in the United States is corn based ethanol. The large scale of corn ethanol production and the potential promise of finding a domestic, reliable source of energy, requires the fuel s viability as a replacement for crude oil to be evaluated. However, there is debate surrounding corn based ethanol s environmental, economic, and social impacts. The scientists and governments who support the development of biofuels claim that it will not only provide a new and sustainable source of energy but also that it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is therefore better for the environment. However, although corn based ethanol continues to harbor support from the United States government, environmentalists argue that ethanol is not substantially better for the environment, especially when the effects of its production are taken into account. Also, while some larger farms profit from ethanol production, it places economic stress upon smaller farms and the agricultural industry and leads to higher food prices that are a great detriment to those living at the level of subsistence. Therefore, in order to produce energy efficient, environmentally friendly fuel, the United States must work towards developing cellulosic biofuels and those produced by microbes as they have ... • 42. Issues Surrounding The Legalization Of Euthanasia This essay will critically discuss slippery slope arguments with reference to the issues surrounding the legalization of euthanasia. Firstly, the foundations of a slippery slope argument will be discussed, along with the usual fallacious nature of this type of argument, also to be discussed, is if slippery slope arguments ever provide good reasons for accepting their conclusions. Secondly, euthanasiawill be introduced and discussed, this will be done using an example of a slippery slope argumentby John Keown from his book Euthanasia, ethics and public policy: and argument against legalization. From this example, the moralityof euthanasia will be discussed as to whether slippery slope arguments show that euthanasia is immoral. Lastly, euthanasia will be discussed with reference utilitarianism, and if euthanasia would potentially be viewed as a good or moral option by utilitarian theory or if it would be viewed as immoral. Slippery slope arguments are often used to argue that if we allow something to become legal we will be stepping onto the slippery slope to allowing something viewed as morally wrong to also become legal. These arguments are used often within society, although most of the time they are used in a casual manner and the distance between point A and B is so large they are not taken seriously, (Spielthenner, 2010; Jefferson, 2014). For that reason slippery slope arguments as a general idea are not considered to be good logical arguments. So, slippery slope ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. The Disaster Of Hurricane Katrina Hurricane Katrina was a catastrophic natural disaster in American history. The aftermath had substantial negative impact on New Orleans and it could have been avoided if proper disaster management practices were put in place. Therefore, it is important to determine the factors that caused the hurricane to be catastrophic. One factor that was responsible for the disaster was failure of the three levels of the government working cohesively (Thiede Brown, 2013). The incoherent interaction between the three levels of government will be assessed. Another factor that will be examined is social and psychological refusal of Hurricane Katrina(Thiede Brown, 2013). Lastly, the improper constriction levees and floodwalls will be addressed (Thiede Brown, 2013). By narrowing down the substantial factors, the government and public can learn from the disaster management mistakes of Hurricane Katrina so aftermath effects can be prevented/alleviated in the future. Recommendations for improving disaster management practices can also be provided and would be beneficial in saving many lives. Introduction Hurricane Katrina is the most expensive natural disaster in American history (Kates et al., 2006). This is supported by the statistics from August 2006, where the death total surpassed 1836 and the cost of the destruction was projected to be near $108 billion (Kates et al., 2006). On August 29, it made landfall in Louisiana as a category 3 Hurricane and its aftermath was devastating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Erikson s Eight Stages Of Psychosocial Development When I look back to my transition to college and how my family has supported me throughout my life, I realized that many developmental theories could apply. In Erikson s Eight Stages of Psychosocial Development, he uses different ranges of age to portray one s crises and dilemmas in various stages of life (Bjorklund, 2015). As an 18 year old college student, I feel connected to the fifth stage of Erikson s Stages of Psychosocial Development: Identity versus Role Confusion. In the fifth stage, Erikson describes that during the ages 13 18, most teens are transitioning to young adults and this is the stage in human development where they are trying to find their identity in their occupation, gender/sex role, religion, and politics (Bjorklund, 2015). Either they have found their identity or they have failed to find their identity which leads into a role confusion. During my transition into college, I experienced an identity crisis for not knowing what I wanted to study or pursue as a career. Before I came to college, I was considering a career in Math and I thought I knew what I wanted to study. However, as I grew older and saw different perspectives of my intended career as a college student, I changed my mind. Although I have begun to answer some of these questions about gender roles, religion, and politics, I am still uncertain of my occupational identity. Although Erikson s stages of human development might have fit with the expectations in his generation, I think his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hiroshima had been almost eradicated with an estimated 70 80,000 people killed. Three days later, a second, more powerful bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki, killing over 100,000 people. Since Japan was economically and militarily devastated by the late summer of 1945, the use of the atomic bombs on an already overcome Japan was unnecessary and unwarranted in bringing about a conclusion to the war in the Pacific. By the end of the war, the U.S. forces had pushed the Japanese far back into their country, leaving them no access to any resources from the Indies. Japanese cities and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A similar reasoning could be applied to the usage of the second bomb, fat man, which was dropped on Nagasaki three days later. One could wonder if the motive behind this second attack was similar to the first; the only difference being that the bomb to be tested this time was considerably more powerful. The final say on whether or not to drop the bomb came from President Harry Truman, who had help from a special committee known as the Interim Committee. This organization was made up of Secretary Stimson as chairman; President Truman s personal representative, James F. Byrnes; the Under Secretary of the Navy, William L. Clayton; and the Assistant Secretary of State as well as many others. The work of the Interim Committee was to discuss the uses of the bomb and whether or not it would be wise to use nuclear force against Japan in combat. On July 1, 1945, the committee submitted a report to President Truman stating that: 1. The bomb should be used against Japan as soon as possible. 2. It should be used against a military target surrounded by other buildings. 3. It should be used without prior warning of the nature of the weapon. The Interim Committee decided against warning the Japanese about the atomic bomb because they claimed that they weren t sure if it would detonate. Treaty of Zurich ends northern Italy tension. Tuscany, Modena, and Parma seek annexation by Sardinia. Italy was scattered during the 1850s but came together in the 1860s and 70s to really become a world power. Piedmont became the unlikely unifying power of Italy. Victor Emmanuel II was the driving force. Sardinia fought against Russia in the Crimean war and won. Sardinia was overall different because while being small they managed to get a lot done to further the unification of Italy. Explain the background and nature of the movement for national unification in Italy. What role had Mazzini played? What had happened in 1848 to the unification movement? After the fall of Napoleon, Italy was controlled mostly by Austria and the Habsburgs. The movement for national unification in Italy started with revolts and demanding change to the kings. Nationalists were influenced by other people in other countries that had successfully revolted, for example like in Spain in 1820. The Kingdom of Two Sicilies was conquered and convinced the king to establish a new constitution. Mazzini helped with Italian unification by creating a secret society called Young Italy. The goal of Mazzini s new group was to promote nationalism and convince people why there should be a unified Italy. In 1848, revolutions all over Italy occurred because nationalists did not want Austria to have control over them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Summary Of Carter Father Of Black History Month Carter G. Woodson formally known as the Father of Black History Month was an extraordinarily wise man who dedicated his life time to African American History. His most famous pieces of writings was his book The Mis Education of the Negro in which many topics are discussed for example education, business, politics, religion, self hatred, and black on black prejudice, which I exceptionally believe is a very negative dilemma in the present day society. An abundant amount of what Woodson wrote about in nineteen thirtythree about blacks minds being controlled through the white people in economics, history, literature, philosophy and religion I strongly agree is still, to an extent the problem today. Which installs at an early age in black children that we are not as smart, skilled, and important as the white man. Education was not the only aspect Woodson discussed in his book that is still prevalent today. Correspondingly, politics also is an aspect Woodson discussed in The Mis Education of the Negro that is prevalent in present day society. Woodson quotes, ANOTHER factor the Negro needs is a new figure in politics, one who will not concern himself so much with what others can do for him as with what he can do for himself (Woodson chap. 17 par. 1). In Woodson s book when he talks about politics like the quote above he says how black people need to make a way for themselves and respect themselves instead of being so dependent on the white man s government that has been against black people from the beginning. • 51. Don John Character Analysis When thinking about the well known comedy Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare the audience is quick to focus on the wit and comedy that the play has to offer, rather than the understated villain who easily disappears in the background. While reading the play, one can posit that Don John is not the typical villain who acts with a specific motive in mind, rather, he is acting out of an obligation he feels to serve as an antagonist considering his position as a bastard. This is demonstrated in his dialogue, which reveals his inner turmoil on being chained to the villainous role and his willingness to act on any malicious opportunity that presents itself to him. This is significant in that, it provides another layer to our villain and causes the audienceto think beyond the first layer that is easily presented, and into the true inner motives of the character. Don John claims that the resentment people have towards him is rooted in the fact that he is a bastard and any friendly intentions towards him are fraudulent ones. From the beginning of the play Don John does not come across as a friendly figure, especially compared to the rest of the soldiers that come with the party to Messina in a flourish of good and excitement. As Leonato welcomes the party he seems to implicate that he is extending the welcome on to Don John, because of his relationship with Don Pedro, the prince and his brother. • 53. Father And Son In Henry IV, Part 1 Fathers and sons To me the relationship of a father and son is a deep bond that two beings can have. From a young child s point of view, his father is his main male role model. As a result, many children when young may want to be like their fathers when they grow up. Although this may change as children grow up and are introduced to new ideas and try to figure out who they are, this is where the father is either understanding of his sons choices or against them. As young adults, we don t like to be told what to do or be criticized for our choices, so if we find solace in someone else who understands us and does not judge us, we view that person more highly almost fatherly, but though you view that person highly you know that he cannot take the place of your blood father. In the play Henry IV, Part 1 we are introduced to King Henry, who is Hal s father and the new monarch of Great Britain. Henry became the new monarch by overthrowing King Richard. I can only imagine the amount of pressure he most have trying to prove that he is a worthy king since he did not obtain the throne through bloodline. In Act 1, scene 1, Henry is talking to Westmoreland about Prince Hal. From the first line Henry sets this tone of disappointment when speaking of his son Hal.
