• Earned a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Jackson State University.

• Currently pursuing my Masters of Art in Teaching from Belhaven
University
• I grew up in a small town called Drew Mississippi in the MS Delta
• I’m a Theatre Geek
• I enjoy singing

• I teach Math and Science
• GoMath is the Districts adapted textbook, Common Core aligned
• Mississippi Science a Closer Look
• 5th Graders take the State Science Assessment Verrry Important!!
• Ways to help your child learn and study
Google 5th grade math common core
YouTube the math standard found in book and on homework sheets
Be very familiar with science vocabulary
MDE website practice test (both Math and Science)
Curriculum Goals
• It is my goal that every child will score proficient or advanced on each State
Assessment and pass both their Math and Science courses.
• Science course involves and interactive notebook, this will be a great source
for your scholars to use as study material. IT will consist of foldables,
diagrams, vocabulary words, notes, and much more.
• Also each student will be provided a video response sheet each week, this is
an attempt for students to study Math at home. YouTube the stand and
complete the sheet return it for extra points.
• Take this time to browse through the text books
• Visit our classroom Library
• Each morning will start with a Do Now/Lesson Starter(Bellringer)
• Maybe Science, Math or a Writing Prompt
• Then we will move to Panther Talk from 7:45-7:55
• Math Lesson 7:55- 8:55
• Science Lesson 8:55-9:55
• 5th Graders will move to English Language Arts (ELA) 9:55-12:00
• Lunch is from 12:00-12:35
Schedule

– Tuesday – Library
– Wednesday – Technology Lab/ Academy
– Thursday – Music
– Friday – Test Prep and PBIS Celebration
Recess 1:25-1:55
Test Prep 1:55-2:15
Dismissal is 2:15 – 2:30

• Grading
– A- Well Above Expectations
– Your child has demonstrated performance that is well above expectation on concepts and skills emphasized or
addressed during this reporting period. This grade recognizes excellent achievement based upon your child’s
ability to independently and on a consistent basis apply critical thing, problem solving or innovative things that
goes above and beyond the teacher’s expectations for successful performance.
B- Above Expectations
Your child has successfully demonstrated performance on concepts and skills addressed during this reporting
period. Your child has successfully learned concepts and skills and independently and on a consistent basis is able to
apply them in a variety of settings
C – Adequate Progress
Your child has adequately learned concepts and skills emphasized or addressed during the reporting period and
is independently and on a consistent basis continuing to perform at the expected level.
D- Below Expectation
Your child has our child is in the process of learning concepts and skills emphasized or addressed during this
reporting period. Your child is making minimal progress and needs assistance to compete the tasks at the expected
level.
F- Well Below Expectations
Tour Child has made little or no progress in learning concept and skills emphasized or addressed during this
reporting period. Extra assistance is need to perform assigned task. . Your child is working well below expectations
Class Information
• Homework will be given each night a new lesson is taught
• Expect report card or progress report and the end of each term
• Its is my hope to take the class on at least 2 field trips this year, One
each semester.

– If child receives any score less than 80% after school tutorial will be requested (Thursdays)
School Policies
• Please join our PTA, meetings are once a month on Thursdays
• You are welcomed to join and assist with after school tutorial second
and fourth Thursday of each month, will become more frequent if
needed.
• Welcome to assist with any club that your child maybe apart of!!!
• WE NEED YOU!!!

  • 2. • Tonight’s Agenda: – Brief description of myself – Typical Class Day including Procedures and Routines – Overview of Curriculum – Class Rules, Consequences, and Expectations – Important Dates and Events Welcome Parents!
  • 3. • Earned a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Jackson State University. GO TIGERS!!!! • Currently pursuing my Masters of Art in Teaching from Belhaven University • I grew up in a small town called Drew Mississippi in the MS Delta • I’m a Theatre Geek • I enjoy singing About Me
  • 4. • I teach Math and Science • GoMath is the Districts adapted textbook, Common Core aligned • Mississippi Science a Closer Look • 5th Graders take the State Science Assessment Verrry Important!! • Ways to help your child learn and study Google 5th grade math common core YouTube the math standard found in book and on homework sheets Be very familiar with science vocabulary MDE website practice test (both Math and Science) Curriculum Goals
  • 5. • It is my goal that every child will score proficient or advanced on each State Assessment and pass both their Math and Science courses. • Science course involves and interactive notebook, this will be a great source for your scholars to use as study material. IT will consist of foldables, diagrams, vocabulary words, notes, and much more. • Also each student will be provided a video response sheet each week, this is an attempt for students to study Math at home. YouTube the stand and complete the sheet return it for extra points. • Take this time to browse through the text books • Visit our classroom Library
  • 6. • Each morning will start with a Do Now/Lesson Starter(Bellringer) • Maybe Science, Math or a Writing Prompt • Then we will move to Panther Talk from 7:45-7:55 • Math Lesson 7:55- 8:55 • Science Lesson 8:55-9:55 • 5th Graders will move to English Language Arts (ELA) 9:55-12:00 • Lunch is from 12:00-12:35 Schedule
  • 7. • Specials from12:35-1:25 – Monday – Counseling – Tuesday – Library – Wednesday – Technology Lab/ Academy – Thursday – Music – Friday – Test Prep and PBIS Celebration Recess 1:25-1:55 Test Prep 1:55-2:15 Dismissal is 2:15 – 2:30 Schedule Continued
  • 8. • Grading – A- Well Above Expectations – Your child has demonstrated performance that is well above expectation on concepts and skills emphasized or addressed during this reporting period. This grade recognizes excellent achievement based upon your child’s ability to independently and on a consistent basis apply critical thing, problem solving or innovative things that goes above and beyond the teacher’s expectations for successful performance. B- Above Expectations Your child has successfully demonstrated performance on concepts and skills addressed during this reporting period. Your child has successfully learned concepts and skills and independently and on a consistent basis is able to apply them in a variety of settings C – Adequate Progress Your child has adequately learned concepts and skills emphasized or addressed during the reporting period and is independently and on a consistent basis continuing to perform at the expected level. D- Below Expectation Your child has our child is in the process of learning concepts and skills emphasized or addressed during this reporting period. Your child is making minimal progress and needs assistance to compete the tasks at the expected level. F- Well Below Expectations Tour Child has made little or no progress in learning concept and skills emphasized or addressed during this reporting period.   • 9. • Homework will be given each night a new lesson is taught • Expect report card or progress report and the end of each term • Its is my hope to take the class on at least 2 field trips this year, One each semester. – The Wiz the Musical @ Jackson State – Museum

  • 12. • Please join our PTA, meetings are once a month on Thursdays • You are welcomed to join and assist with after school tutorial second and fourth Thursday of each month, will become more frequent if needed. • Welcome to assist with any club that your child maybe apart of!!! • WE NEED YOU!!!
