The circulatory system consists of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The heart pumps blood through the blood vessels, which include arteries, veins, and capillaries. The heart has four chambers and beats in a cycle of systole and diastole. Blood carries oxygen, nutrients, hormones and other substances throughout the body via two circuits - pulmonary circulation from the heart to the lungs and systemic circulation from the heart to the rest of the body.
