Transgenic fish or genetically modified fish(GM fish) are genetically modified organism. The DNA of the fish is modified using genetic engineering techniques.
Aim is to introduce a new trait to fish
GM fish has been approved by FDA
Modern developments in transport technology are from two levels; one is from an understanding of internal physiological mechanisms of the fish and the optimal requirements, ensuring maximum survival of fish under transport and the other is from a study of the environmental parameters of the medium in which fish are transported. Under anaesthesia fish can be transported without water even, provided the skin and gills are kept moist under low temperature. The cryopreservation of fish sperm for use at any convenient time can be referred to here, though this would concern seed production more directly than live seed transport.
Setting an aquarium is an important steps to maintaining healthy ornamental fishes. It gives mind relaxation and peaceful. It is a hobby and reduces the stress also

What is Cryopreservation ?
Cryopreservation is a process where biological materials such as cells and tissues are preserved by cooling to very low temperatures, usually at -196°C (the temperature of liquid nitrogen), yet remain viable after later warming to temperatures above 0°C.
Cryopreservation in aquatic species goes back 65 years and began about the same time as similar research was performed in livestock (Blaxter 2011).
In India, NBFGR & CIFA are the primary organization carrying out fish sperm cryopreservation for long term gene banking (J. K. Jena 2012)

The discussion of the following slides are mainly focused on the introduction of threatened and endangered fish species.
The biodiversity committees are also been discussed.
A list of endangered and threatened species of fish is also given.
Haploids are individuals that have only a single set of chromosomes. Because they have only a single set of chromosomes, every detrimental allele will be expressed, since none will be hidden by a dominant allele in the heterozygous condition. As such, it is doubtful that many haploids will survive very long. Haploid medaka , common carp , masu salmon , rainbow trout , Atlantic salmon , chum salmon and plaice have been produced for experimental purposes, but none lived long.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

4. Introduction
Biotechnological manipulation of eggs, sperm or zygote by temperature,
pressure or chemical shocks either to alter chromosome set number or to create
fish only a single parent. This is done to crate haploid(n),triploid(3n) or
tetraploid(4n) and to create gynogens or androgens. It occurs through the or
subtraction of haploid set of chromosome present in the second polar body of the
egg by applying some sort of stimuli- heat, cold or pressure shock to the egg at
post fertilization stage.
5. Triploids:
The triploids are created for two reasons; increased growth rate and sterility.
Triploid are created by shocking newly fertilized eggs shortly after fertilization.
Fish eggs do not extrude the second polar body until they are fertilized. Because
of this if a newly fertilized egg is shocked, this shocks prevents the second polar
body from leaving the eggs. Consequently the fertilized egg will contain three
haploid nuclei; one from the egg, one from the sperm, and one from the second
polar body. The three haploid nuclei will fuse to form a triploid zygote nucleus
creating a triploid.
6. Fig: Process of triploid formation

7. Triploids:
Triploidy can also be produced by crossing between a triploid & diploid. Such
tetraploid parent would produce diploid gametes and diploid will produce a haploid
gamete. In the cross a triploid can readily be produced.
This approach is attractive, as it does not require applying potentially damaging
treatment (heat, cold or pressure shock).
9. LOGO
Tetraploids
Tetraploid have four sets of chromosomes instead
of two. They can be created by shocking a diploid
zygote when it is undergoing first cleavage.

11. LOGO
Gynogens
In gynogenesis the eggs are fertilized most
often with irradiated sperm. Such sperm can
only initiate the process of fertilization but no
gametic or nuclear exchange takes place.
11
13. LOGO
Androgenesis
The androgens are opposite to gynogens. The
most commonly used method is to fertilize eggs
whose genetic material has been destroyed by
Gamma or X- ray with normal sperm. This
produces haploid androgen. When the haploid
androgenic zygote undergo first cleavage, it is
shocked to prevent cell division, and the two
haploids (N) nuclei fuse to form a diploid (2N)
nucleus.

Conclusion
Manipulation of chromosome is technically
feasible & it is easy for fish. Although reports
on the induction of polyploidy was made on
aquatic animals in 1940s. the practical
appeal of its production and application in
fish started in 1970s and since then the
literature on the line has been staggering.
So this process should be more developed.
