Africa is a continent of diverse landscapes including rainforests, grasslands, and the Sahara desert. It remained relatively stationary after breaking from the supercontinent Pangaea, unlike other landmasses. A plateau covers much of the continent, keeping most areas above 1,000 feet in elevation. Major rivers like the Nile and Congo provide fertile lands and water resources. Other geographic features include mountains like Kilimanjaro, Victoria Falls, Lake Victoria, and the massive Sahara desert.
