Cells
27th August 2009
You will learn

• What every living thing is made of
• What the difference between plant and
  animal cells is
Animal Cells

• Nucleus

• Cell membrane

• Cytoplasm
The Cell Parts
• Nucleus. Contains the DNA
(instructions of how to make more cells
  and what to do)
• Cell membrane. Lets the right chemicals
in and keeps the wrong chemicals out
• Cytoplasm. Jelly-like. All the chemical
  reactions happen here.
Plant Cells
• Nucleus

• Cell membrane

• Cytoplasm

• Chloroplasts

• Vacuole

• Cell wall
Plant Cell Parts
• Chloroplasts. Coloured green. Make
  food for the plant.
• Vacuole. A sugary sac of liquid called
“sap”. Stores food and keeps the cell the
  same shape
• Cell wall. A thick material called
cellulose which keeps the cell the same
  shape.
