Cell Organelles
Animal Cell Cytoplasm Cell Membrane Endoplasmic Reticulum Nucleus Mitochondria Vacuole Ribosome Golgi Body Lysosome
Nucleus The control center of the cell and contains the DNA
Cytoplasm Protects cell parts from damage by acting like a shock absorber within the cell
Cell Membrane Provides protection and controls the movement of materials into and out of the cell
Endoplasmic Reticulum Transports materials around the cell
Lysosome Digest (break down) food, waste, or old cell structures
Vacuole Stores water, food, and wastes in the cell
Mitochondria Produces the power or energy needed by burning food obtained or produced in the cell.
Ribosome Makes protein for the cell
Golgi Body Sorts proteins and other substances and then packages them into vesicles to travel around or out of the cell
Plant Cell Cell Wall Chloroplast
Cell Wall Provides protection and allows food and oxygen into the cell while moving waste out of the cell
Chloroplast Makes the food for the plant cell and contains chlorophyll
