Celiac Disease in children is an immune-mediated enteropathy caused by a permanent sensitivity to gluten in genetically susceptible individuals. It can cause gastrointestinal manifestations like diarrhea, failure to thrive, abdominal pain, vomiting, constipation, and abdominal distention. It is also associated with non-gastrointestinal manifestations like dermatitis herpetiformis, dental enamel hypoplasia, osteopenia, osteoporosis, short stature, delayed puberty, and iron-deficient anemia. Children with symptoms or associated conditions should be tested through serological tests like TTG IgA or biopsy.
