Essay On Power Of Positive Thinking
Writing an essay on the power of positive thinking can be both challenging and rewarding.
While the concept itself is inspiring, capturing its essence in a well-structured and engaging essay
requires careful consideration. One must delve into the intricacies of positive thinking, exploring
its psychological, emotional, and even physiological implications.
The difficulty lies in balancing personal experiences and anecdotes with researched information
and expert opinions. The challenge is to present a nuanced perspective that goes beyond mere
clichГ©s and platitudes, offering a profound understanding of how positive thinking can
influence individuals and society as a whole.
Crafting a compelling introduction that immediately grabs the reader's attention and sets the tone
for the essay is crucial. From there, each paragraph must seamlessly flow into the next, building
a coherent narrative that explores the multifaceted aspects of positive thinking. Striking the right
balance between personal reflection and evidence-based arguments can be intricate, requiring a
delicate touch to avoid sounding overly subjective or overly academic.
Moreover, maintaining a positive and optimistic tone throughout the essay is essential to align
with the topic. This requires careful language choice and a conscious effort to uplift the reader's
spirits without veering into superficial positivity.
Concluding the essay with a strong and memorable closing statement that reinforces the power
of positive thinking adds an extra layer of complexity. The conclusion should leave a lasting
impression, prompting the reader to contemplate the essay's message long after reading it.
In summary, while writing an essay on the power of positive thinking presents its challenges, the
process is an opportunity for personal growth and reflection. It demands a balance between
personal insights and researched content, a captivating introduction, a well-structured body, and
a compelling conclusion. With the right approach, the difficulty transforms into a rewarding
experience of exploring the transformative potential of positive thinking.

Intellectual Disability Chapter 6 Summary
Chapter 6 starts by telling the story of Lauren who has Down syndrome and defining
intellectual disability. Intellectual disability in the chapter has multiple definitions
and one is that it is define as a disability characterize by both intellectual functioning
and adaptive behavior such as, social and adaptive skills. To classify and a person
with intellectual disability you need to look at various dimension of human
functioning, which are intellectual abilities, adaptive behavior, health, participation
and context. There are still many challenges on to what the definition of intellectual
is and how to measure intellectual disability. There has been many test n to measure
the student s intelligence, but it can be very controversial. Issues

Hidden Within Technology s Kingdom, A Republic Of
Letters...
Since the beginning of time, humans have created activities to perform in their
recreational time. For leisure, cavemen carved paintings on the walls of their caves,
while people of the 1800s read books, and people perform a variety of activities
today. Activities today are both old and new. These include biking, watching TV,
listening to music, and reading. The preference of older recreations, such as reading,
over modern recreations, like watching TV, is questionable. But an article, Hidden
Within Technologys Kingdom, a Republic of Letters, written by Saul Bellow presents
the truth on this situation. Therefore, advances in technology will not make books
obsolete due to the people who enjoy reading, pursue writing, and the integration of...

For example, many movies are based on books. This is not only happening today,
but it happened in the 1920s. Saul Bellow describes his personal experience when
he went to the movies and saw Treasure Island, then he read the book (Bellow 15).
This is a popular trend with teenagers today as well. Many of my peers read The
Hunger Games series, then went to watch the movies. This expresses many books
essentially create popular movies. Like Bellow, watching movies can encourage
people to read the book. Books are integrated within movies, so books will not be
out of date. In the article, Saul Bellow mentions Teachout s statement, We are not
accustomed to thinking of art forms as technologies, but it is what they are
(Bellow 14) This represents that books are an art from that tell stories, and movies
are a technology that tell stories. This does not mean books will become antiquated
because technology will replace them. It seems impossible. Books are tied to
technology because of digital books that are available for purchase on many
laptops, phones, and tablets. They are more convenient due to their easy storage in
electronic devices. This means that although people are not seen carrying books, it
does not mean they do not read. Sometimes books are hidden because they are like a
treasure to
Contribution Of Marxist Historiography
Every point in history is an undeniable reaction to the events of the past. Marxist
historiographical thinking provides a method by which the world can interpret past
and current events in an attempt to evaluate and predict future struggle and
resolution. Throughout the centuries never has there been a greater need for Marxist
dialectical methodologies in examining the past events than that of the 21st century;
as ideological tensions rise due to the transvaluation that western societies go through
as a result of post modernist thinking and the rejection of 18th and 20th Century
Enlightenment and Modernist values respectively. In an attempt to understand the
role of Marxist historiography in the 21st Century one must first understand the
fundamentals of Marx s prepositions and their relation to Postmodernist thinking.
Marxist historiography stems from class consciousness which concerns itself with the
inequality and injustices associated with the presence of a hierarchical class system.*
It also proposes in a dialectical light that human action and reaction comes out of
materialist influences on the subject, which in turn shapes the material world. That
being said, the relevance of this historical viewpoint cannot be understood without
first getting a firm grasp of Hegel s theory of alienation; particularly the concept of
Subject vs Object and the ideal state of the human person being that of the absolute
spirit where this dichotomy (Subject and Object) merges into one
Western Society The Five Year Plans Analysis
To consolidate his power in the communist government, Stalin launched the five year
plans with a mission to increase the total industrial output by 250 percent and
agricultural production by 150 percent. His government thought that economic
development will help U.S.S.R to catch up with the West. As part of this economic
program, he ordered the collectivization of agriculture. His order led to an economic
disaster and shortage of basic necessities as large numbers of peasants opposed to the
change slaughtered their animals and burned the crops rather than turn them over to
the state. This resulted in a severe decrease in agricultural output throughout the
years. (A History of Western Society: The Five Year Plans, p. 903) To strengthen his
position and solidify his control in the Communist Party,... Show more content on

European Jews were segregated into Ghettos where they lived in a cruel and inhuman
condition. In the document, the author explained about the strong odors of sweat,
urine and human waste, of mold and mildew, distinguished the quarter from the rest

about the bakeries and the food markets that were under city hall control. Not only
that, the European Jews were also heavily exploited. The author explained individuals
never previously seen in the city of Czernowitz streamed in from all corners of the
country in order to draw profit from a human tragedy. If the deportation with all of its
premeditation was in itself monstrous, then the exploitation of despair surpassed even
this. (Mein Bekenntnis: The Ghettoization of the Jews, p.
Effect Of 3d Printing On Industries
Effect of 3D Printing in Industries Hod Lipson, a well known robotics engineer at
Cornell University, once said, The next episode of 3D printing will involve printing
entirely new kinds of materials. Eventually we will print complete products circuits,
motors, and batteries already included. At that point, all bets are off (Lipson). This
dated quote has now become a reality. The new expansion in technology has led to
3D printingbecoming a new revolutionary process that is going to further industry.

With these new advancements, doctors and engineers can now print living tissues
into any shape or form to create new organs or new body parts. Now that doctors
can print up new organs, the backlog on kidney transplants to be reduced to almost
none (Mukherjee). These organs have been developed and soon to be
implemented into transplants across the industry. Along with new organs, new
body parts can be created for amputee victims or anyone else who is need of a
prosthetic limb. Although the industry already has realistic looking parts, with the
use of tissue printing, the parts can now have real skin to touch and possibly even
have hair grow on the limb. The uses don t just stop at body parts either, doctors
have replaced a skull with 75 percent printed material (Mukherjee) and were
successful with the operation. 3D printing also is used in the medical industry for
new tools or replacements. Dr. Tarek Loubani is the man who used a 3D printer to
fix the shortages of stethoscopes in Gaza (The Associated Press). Dr. Loubani
used a 3D printer to print a fully functional stethoscope that doctors say works just
as good (The Associated Press). These new stethoscopes can be produced at a
fraction of the cost of normal stethoscopes which helps eliminate a shortage of
supplies. The entire medical field will or already has been affected by this mass use
of new technology. The next largest industry to be affected is the
Research Paper On Okinawa
History of Okinawa (жІ–зё„зњЊ) Okinawa or formally known as the Ryukyu
kingdom is the most southern prefecture of Japan. Its capital Naha is located in the
southern end of a chain of island that spans over 1000km including hundreds of
small islands between Kyushu and Taiwan. The climates of the islands range from
humid subtropical towards the northern end to tropical rainforest climates in the
south. Of the hundreds of island, less than half are inhabited while much of the
other island are coral reefs and too small to live on. Because of the lack of land and
the difference in climate between the different islands, agriculture was a slow

Due to Okinawa s geographical advantage, it was a launch pad for covert missions
over South East Asia. Growing tension between the people and the military
highlighted the anti Vietnam war sentiment that connected the political views for
the reversion of Okinawa to Japan (Morrocco). More controversy grew alleging the
storage of Nuclear weapons on Okinawa and growing fears over the escalating
Vietnam War as people perceived this as being a potential target for Communist
China as they could feel threatened by the US military power. As more information
leaked out the local population grew fear for the potential of a retaliation by the
Chinese government (Mitchell). The Okinawa uprising, also known as the Koza riot
was a violent and spontaneous protest against the US military personnel in Okinawa.
This event which occurred on December 20, 1970 was symbolised as the Okinawan
anger against the 25 years of military occupation. This was one of the many

Chordates Research Paper
Chordates
From the beginning of time the simplest of life forms can be linked to those
characteristics that human possess. Amphioxus is a small sea dwelling creator that
has no eye, ears, or jaw but can be linked to humans by its nerve cord, segmented
muscles that aid in movement, notochord that acts like a backbone, and the gill slits
just like the ones human embryos possess.
Humans belong to a specialized Chordate category known as vertebrates. We are
categorized as such because our backbones are compiled of many vertebra that act
as our central scaffolding for our skeleton just like the notochord in the Amphioxus.
The reason human were capable of becoming so successful on land is because we
had four times more genes than our sea dwelling ... Show more content on

Reptiles on the other hand were the first to crawl, walk, and run near the water s
edge. They were able to flourish because of their strong limbs and their ability to
reproduce by laying eggs underground. King cobra were another animal that were no
match for any predator or prey. No other creator matched what it could do with its
tongue, venom, articulating jaw and backwards facing teeth, all of these traits gave
it an unfair advantage over prey. Dinosaurs shares the reptiles characteristic of
being ferocious predators with ravenous appetited. This in turn aided in their
evolution to becoming the world largest creators until an asteroid hit at
approximately 65 million years. This catastrophic event whipped out over half of
all animal species and nearly all large animals. However this did not mean the end
of all life one earth, some small fury mammalian were capable of withstanding the
devastation by residing underground. Due to the dinosaurs extinction these small
animals were able to thrive and adapt to the environment that was available to them.
Today mammals are the largest and most powerful creators with high metabolisms
and ferocious need to feed to help shape their bodies and brains. Humans are closely
related to primates and share similar cognitive and intellectual characteristics like
nurture young, pass on social skills, learn like us, mimicking, and remember.
Although we have so much in common we are still slightly different because of our
larger brains and our ability to communicate and ask questions like how we got
One of Ours by Willa Cather
Margaret Elliot is beautiful, talented, critical, unsatisfied, tired of the world at
twenty four (Great Short Works, 8). Engaged to a man she has no feelings for, life
feels bleak and without purpose. She feels true love once with Eric, but just for a
moment. For her whole life, Margaret had searched the faces of men for the look
that lay in his eyes. She knew that look had never shone before, would never shine
for her on earth again, that such lovecomes to one only in dreams or in impossible
places like this, unattainable always. This was Love s self, and in a moment it
would die (Great Short Works, 29). For Willa Catherthis is how love exists. Happy
relationships are plentiful, but the enchanted, all encapsulating love of dreams
only exists in glances. For Eric this glance is enough. He does not regret his decision
or the damnation he is sure it will cause. For him a day shall be as a thousand years,
and a thousand years as a day as his love lives on.
In most cases, however love is not enough. Both Margaret and Claude, the
protagonist of Cather s novel One of Ours feel this shimmer of love, but in the end
must search for meaning elsewhere. Set in a small Nebraska farm town, One of
Ours opens several years before the start of the First World War. Claude is
unsatisfied with his simple life in the fields, and possesses an idealistic, romantic
outlook that propels him to search for meaning on a much different field in Europe.
For Claude, who wants nothing more than

In other words, terrorism is often funded by clean money.
How does money laundering work in theory?
There are normally three steps in the ML process:
1.Placement This is where the money originated from an illegal source is introduced
into the financial system. This may be by way of depositing it into a bank account or
by converting it into diamonds, gold or other assets that can then be sold.
2.Layering This is where the money from an illegal source is dispersed and disguised
through a series of transactions or moved several times from its origin in order to
hide any audit trail. This may involve the use of multiple banks and accounts in
difference names, then transact through intermediaries, corporations and trusts.
3.Integration This is where, after distancing the money from any criminal association,
that money is integrated back into the economy. This may be by investment in
property developments or similar activities. At this stage, the illegal money has
achieved the appearance of legitimacy.

Activity Theory of Aging Essay
RUNNING HEAD: ACTIVITY THEORY Activity Theory of Aging Long Island
University C.W. Post Campus Jennifer L. Bifulco Throughout this semester we
have come across many psychological and social theories. From Vaillant s aging
well, to Erikson s life stages, to Leont ev s activity theory, there is a lot to learn and
to understand. For the purpose of this paper, I am going to focus on the Activity
Theory of aging. After some thorough research on this topic I was able to come up
with some great information about this theory that I will incorporate into this paper
and make you understand the theory that way that I understand it. Activity Theory
(AT) was initially developed by Leont ev during the twentieth century in the former...

The third principle is mediation. The Activity Theory states that human activity is
mediated by tools. Tools are created during the development of the activity itself
and they carry a certain culture. Tool use influences the nature of external behavior
and also the mental functioning of each person. The fourth principle is the
hierarchical structure of activity. The hierarchy has three levels; activity, action,
and operation. Figure 1. Below shows Leont ev s structure of human activity.
Activities can be broken down into goal directed actions that have to be
undertaken in order to satisfy the object. Actions are conscious and happen
automatically. The Activity Theory maintains the elements of the activity. The
elements are not fixed but they can change as conditions change. The last principle
is development. In Activity Theory, development is not only an object of study, it
is also a research method. Research methods in AT is not comprised of actual lab
experiments, but the experience of active participation and the monitoring of
developmental changes of the study participants. All of the five principles should
be looked at as a whole system, because they are associated with various aspects of
the whole activity. ACTIVITY ( MOTIVE ACTION ( GOAL OPERATION (

Without sound, the gangster films could not come to life. It was the 1930s that the
events of the prohibition era such as bootlegging and the St. Valentines Day
Massacre of 1929, and the existence of real life gangsters and the rise of
contemporary organized crime helped to encourage this genre. The talkies are
accounted for the rise of crime films. The first talkie 100% all talking picture and,
of course, the first sound gangster film was The Lights of New York in 1928.
Martin Sorcese, Brian De Palma, and Francis Ford Coppolla, who also directed the

neighborhood he desperately wanted the approval of the older hood guys but they
didn t like book smarts . For example, he states that ...it was not at all good to be

was intellectual he was scared to show it because he wanted the approval of the
hoods. This is important because this would keep him from doing well in school
because of his life outside of class. Although if teachers approach teaching in a

Another example is when Graff states how he ...carefully hiding telltale marks of

The Marriage Of Figaro Analysis
The Marriage of Figaro During the first eighteen centuries AD the freedom of
speech was under brutal attack. Everywhere, in the world there was political
instability. Different part of the world was rocked by tyranny. In this time, to
restore parity people had fought hard. One of the spotlight was France. Although,
the Roman Empire had split long time ago, the monarchical division of the iron
empire spread across the side of Europe. The revolution had to be choreographed
appropriately and carefully, to counter this growing European tyranny and
aristocracy. An art was used as a mode of communicating revolutionary ideas by
artists. Using an art, a wave of revolution was established in France which turn out
to be a fruit for the people of France. However, the force emerging from that piece of
art was so high that no political opposition could managed to encounter, though they
had banned the Marriage of Figaro. Against, the will of the people the government
have been keeping artistic restrictions to stop the ideas the consider unfriendly for
their survival and continued service. All most of all ways were using to stop the
spread of a specific piece of art across all possible media. The marriage of Figaro, a
story of a servant who stoop up to his boss and outwitted his master in France faced
an original bean. Beaumarchais, the author of the play depicted the French
aristocracy as lustful, degenerate and depraved. The game was considered
revolutionary and banned at long last by
Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn 2
Popper and Kuhn: Two Views of Science In this essay I attempt to answer the
following two questions: What is Karl Popper s view of science? Do I feel that
Thomas Kuhn makes important points against it? The two articles that I make
reference to are Science: Conjectures and Refutations by Karl Popper and Logic of
Discovery or Psychology of Research? by Thomas Kuhn. Both articles appear in the
textbook to this class. In the article, Science: Conjectures and Refutations , Karl
Popper attempts to describe the criteria that a theory must meet for it to be
considered scientific. He calls this puzzle the problem of demarcation. Popper
summarizes his arguments by saying, the criterion of the scientific status of a theory

Kuhn refutes this point by claiming that Popper s assertion that astrologers escape
falsification by explaining away any possible refutations is impossible to support.
Kuhn uses the example of reputable records that indicate many instances where
astrology categorically failed. Astrology is a very complex science (or non
science, depending on your opinion). Measuring the planets and the stars is hard,
and in the days when astrology was more popular, the tools for measuring were
crude. In addition, few people knew exactly when they were born, a crucial detail
needed to perform accurate astrology. Kuhn agrees with Popper in stating that
astrology is not a science, but they differ in their reasons. Kuhn main problem with
astrology is that the failures of astrology do not give rise to research puzzles. He
thinks that when a scientific theory fails to explain a phenomenon, there is a new
puzzle for scientists to study, learn, and grow from. In astrology, nothing is learned
from mistakes. There is no effort to change the theory to explain why it failed or
adopt a new theory. Popper emphasizes the importance of testing when it comes to
new theories replacing old ones. Kuhn takes particular offense to this statement. He
argues that if one looks at how science is actually done, not how Popper thinks it
should be done, it will be clear that many new theories were adopted before they had
been tested. Kuhn uses the example of Copernicus theory being adopted over

powdery mildew can be seen growing on the leaves. Also, too much shade and not
enough sun can encourage mildew growth. Snapdragon
Essay On Lady Christie
Candice Elaine Godfrey adjusted the sterling silver necklace and positioned the
clasp to the back of her neck. She placed her palm over the precious stone that
dangled just below her collar bone and gently smiled. She coveted green opals, and
she especially desired this one. The matching tear drop earings were just as lovely,
too. They were classy, flattering, and mysterious; with how they glittered like a mini
universe, and how you were always searching their depths for answers. Very much
like she was, in her own right. A mystery. An enigma. A lady who had fashioned her
own universe, and had shaped her own destiny.

When Candice descended the stairs from the loft there was always that moment of
pride which swirled in her chest. The music was adulterous, the neon lights were
moody, and the smell of cigar smoke, alcohol, and body musk was beckoning. She
took her time with the metal stairs, letting her hand slide down the railing as she
surveyed the majority of the ground floor. Boulevard 9 was celebrating its 25th
anniversary tonight, and there were streamers, balloons, and tinsel all over the
establishment. There were familiar faces, but most were strangers. Everyone was
dressed up in a little more glam tonight, whether that entailed nothing more then just
extra make up, an extra effort in casual attire, or extra attention to the little details that
attracted greed, lust, and love. It was marvelous to Elaine, and she smiled.
There was something different in the air tonight besides extra fluff, Elaine thought,
and as she took her usual seat at her usual table, she fixated her heart into
discovering what it might be. Elaine had golden, blonde hair that made Hollywood
jealous, and expressive blue eyes. It was easy to underestimate her as the cliche,
dumb blonde most jokes are made of. Sometimes she let them have their jokes, too,
because Duchess Elaine always had the last laugh. She had a heart shaped face with a
cute nose, prominent cheek bones, and plush lips painted over with glossy red lipstick.
A server placed her usual drink down in front of her, but she ignored it. She

Alexander Fleming And Penicillin
How would it feel to save a life? How would it feel to save a few? Imagine saving
millions. Alexander Fleming knew that all too well. Although his name should sound
familiar, most people know very little about him, if anything at all. Just as discoveries
can lead to inventions, inventions can sometimes lead to discoveries. In 1928,
Alexander Flemingdiscovered penicillin. Prior to his discovery, patients with
infections or trivial injuries often died. A doctor would have to watch, wait, and
hope that a patient s immune system would be strong enough to fight and heal.
Throughout history, inventions and discoveries have been made to change or
save lives, but most are not discovered by accident. His entry into the world was on
August 6, 1881 on an 800 acre farm in a remote, rural part of Scotland. He was the
seventh of eight children enjoying a happy childhood and loving the outdoors (Ho,
1999). For the most part, he was shy, quiet, modest, and silent, except among loved
ones and friends. Indeed he was quite charming and gentle, but by all means, he
didn t like too much attention drawn to himself. Because of his superb education,
he received a scholarship and attended the University of London (Brown, 2004).
Alexander Fleming always had a dream of being a surgeon, and after receiving
money from an uncle who had passed, his older brother who was already an MD

The Movie Billy Wilkerson
The drive to be included leads men to and the subsequent affect of not being included
has a lasting ripple effect, that spans through time. The affects can be felt. The allure
of hollywood attracts all sorts of people that are desperate to be included. Not just
actors, not just studio heads, agents or writers, sometimes hollywood attracts
gangsters, and politicians.
People will go to great lengths to be close to the stars of Hollywood. It drives some
people insane. That drive for fame and power leaves a lasting impression on the
landscape and on lives for decades.
William Billy Wilkerson is one such person. His desire to be somebody was so great
that his efforts shaped the physical landscape, the social landscape, and the political
landscape far beyond his lifetime. Yet his ambitions and accomplishments added up
to failures and bitterness, that left his quest for inclusion into the inner circle of the
Hollywood elite, little more than a footnote in the history books. Billy is all but

Supreme Court the most commonly know is judicial review, also know as the ability
of the Court to announce a Legislative or Executive act in violation of the
Constitution, this is not found directly within the text of the Constitution itself. The
Court established this doctrine in the case that we researched previously Marbury v.
Madison. In this case, the Court had to conclude whether an Act of Congress or the
Constitution was the absolute law of the land. The Judiciary Act of 1789 gave the
Supreme Court original jurisdiction to issue writs of mandates. A suit was brought
under this Act, the Supreme Court recognized that the Constitution did not grant the
Court to have original jurisdiction in this case. Because Article VI of the Constitution
authorized the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land, the Court held that an
Act of Congress that is conflicting to the Constitution could not stand. In following
cases, the Court also established its authority to strike down state laws found to be in
violation of the Constitution. Before the passage of the Fourteenth Amendment, the
provisions of the Bill of Rights were only relevant to the federal government. After,
the Supreme Court began ruling that all of its provisions were applicable to the states

governments operating in the complex economic environment of the 21st century
must contend with a broad range of risks. Some do so in an adhoc or reactive
fashion, responding to risks as they appear, whilst others are proactive, planning in

Since it has become clear over the past few years that risk can be financially
damaging when neglected, anecdotal and empirical evidence suggests that
institutions increasingly opt for formalized processes to manage uncertainties that
can lead to losses. Risk can be classified in a number of ways and though we do not
intend to present a detailed taxonomy of risk, a brief overview is useful in order to
frame my discussion. To begin, risk can be divided broadly into financial risk and
operating risk. Financial risk is the risk of loss arising from the movement of a
market or performance of a counterparty and can be segregated into market risk
(the risk of loss due to movement in market references, such as interest rates, stock
prices or currency rates), liquidity risk (the risk of loss due to an inability to obtain
unsecured funding or sell assets in order to make payments) and credit risk (the risk
of loss due to non performance by a counterparty on its contractual obligations). A
rise in funding costs, an inability to sell financial assets at carrying value or the
default by a counterparty on a loan are examples of
A Comparison Of Braveheart And The 13th Warrior

According to Army Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 6 22, leadership is the
process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to
accomplish the mission and improve the organization . This essay will analyze two
different leaders, William Wallace from Braveheart and Ahmad ibn Fadlanfrom The

leadership lessons, concepts, perspectives, and styles I observed. Then this essay will
suggest how Army leaders can employ the aforementioned perceptions to motivate

essay will recommend specific groups within the Army enterprise that should watch
Braveheart and The 13th Warrior through the lens of leadership to gain a thorough

Social Conventions In The Stranger, By Albert Camus
Many abide societal expectations to justify their own actions; however, it is through
their submissiveness that heightens one s vulnerability as they cannot surpass the
absurdities of life. According to J.A. Cuddon, Man is born into a kind of void, a
mud. He has the liberty to remain in this mud and thus lead a passive, supine,
acquiescent existence (316 7); therefore, one has the choice to alleviate themselves
out of their own misery or accepttheir stance in society. In The Stranger, by Albert
Camus, although both Raymond Sintes and Meursault violates social conventions
through their acts of violence, it is ironically through acknowledging their crimes that
critiques not only their own existence but also the empowerment of the French

Analyzing The Processes Of Decolonization And Early Post...
Analyzing the processes of decolonization and early post colony in Africa is a
complex task. Especially when looking through the perspective of different nations
that each followed their own path. Chinua Achebe s There was a Country and
Ngugi Wa Thiong o s Dreams in a Time of War, are both exceptional novels that
grapple with the social and political struggles going on in their respective countries.
They also help explore the complexities of nation building as well as political
conflicts expression in communal form. On one hand, Thiong o s piece is a child s
recollection of his childhood with the lead up to the Mau Mau Emergency and
colonialismin the backdrop. Achebe s on the other hand takes place later in history
and focuses on the political and social struggles that ultimately led to the Biafran war.
Dreams in a Time of War takes a more abstract attempt at telling the story of
colonialism and the conflicts of Kenya. One of the main comparisons the book
makes is that of Thiong o as a person to Africa itself. It looks at how his thirst and
perseverance towards learning and self reliance reflects Kenya s, and Africa s as a
whole, eagerness to rid themselves from colonial rule. This idea comes from an
important scene in the book where at the age of nine Thiong o s mother asked him
if he wanted to go to school; he was so overwhelmed because he didn t even think to
hope of something like that. Despite his initial response, he also realized the hardship
and sacrifice that

An Investigation into How the British could have achieved victory in the American
War of Independence
The American War of Independence was perhaps the first colonial war of
independence during the period of European dominance across the globe. Great
Britain, a relatively new country with a stable, democratic government, established
an enormous trading empire which stretched from North America to East India and
was the greatest superpower on Earth. It came to be so, firstly by its highly effective
navy which allowed it to transport goods and defeat other rival fleets. Its government
of elected officials allowed it to function more effectively compared to an Absolute

It is believed she gave word to Paul Revere that the British were planning on
destroying the armouries at Lexington and Concord and thus he spread the famous
line of The British are coming! Many British Generals serving throughout the French
Indian War began to sympathize with the colonists who fought alongside the British.
This meant that many of the experienced and greatest of British Generals, including
Gage himself, did not believe that war was the right option and did not believe in
the British cause. So to prevent the catastrophes that Gage caused during the first
months of the War, the British should have given the position to a General who was
both capable but also sensible. Historians believe that if General Charles Cornwallis
had of served in his stead then the early British disasters could have been avoided and
the colonists would have been crushed in the first few months. Cornwallis was a
competent commander, but when he inherited his Lordship, he often voted against
heavy taxation of the colonies. Many blame him for the British defeat of the War
because of his surrender at Yorktown but with his intervention at an earlier date, such
a competent commander could have increased the odds of the British winning the war.
The British Army was a well trained but in no way was it battle hardened . Being an
island nation, Britain predominantly used its navy as its main weapon and the regular

Moving To A New Apartment Essay
Moving out to a new apartment English Author Dougles Adams wrote You live and
learn. At any rate, you live . This quote stated, learning is the limitless in human
life and anything happen to us we should move forward. My friend and I used to
live with different families. One day she told me about her, one of the friend was
going to move here from Wisconsin, who needed a place to stayor rent a room. if she
moved here, we could rent an apartment and split the rent. We found two bed rooms
apartment for about $1200 a month and moved in together. Living with my friends
was very peaceful and fun. Unfortunately, our upstairs neighbor who was from
Korea, they moved back to their country and a new family moved in our upstairs.
From that day living this apartment was very challenging. We needed to move and
find a new apartment because of the noisy upstairs neighbor and because of no heat
and higher bills. First of all, we wanted to move to escape from our upstairs
neighbors. They had three children, two boys and a girl around five to thirteen
years old. We heard two or three families moved from California together to this
area, who were friends. These neighbors had a lot visitors and made a noise every
night. When they walked up to the third floor and downstairs very heavily, it sounded
like something falling downstairs or something breaking. Also they talked and
laughed very loudly, we could almost hear their conversations. Then when their guests

Narrative Of A Mother Daughter
A tired mother reclines before a long mirror, beginning to prepare her ten year old
daughter for bed. As she works out the last few tangles from her hair, the woman s
gaze turns to her reflection the dulling of her once youthful body palpable in the
company of her youthful daughter. Author Sharon Olds uses the narrative of a
mother daughter relationship to address issues of aging, deathand replacement,
juxtaposing the youth of a ten year old with the maturity of the thirty five year old.
35/10 takes readers on one womans journey of sorrow as she copes with the loss of
her youth, but deeper than that, her confrontation with grief as she realizes her
daughter will one day replace her. The woman feels as though she is beginning her
life s decline just as her daughter begins her ascent into womanhood, inquiring,
...Why is it / just as we begin to go / they begin to arrive... (lines 4 6). Olds takes on
the voice of this despondent woman in her poem 35/10, using rich, honest language
and metaphoric comparisonsto communicate observations about the cycle of life and
the pattern of replacement. In the main body of her poem, Olds lists a sequence of
three key metaphoric comparisons between the woman and her daughter s changing
bodies. Both characters are experiencing small previews of their futures through
developmental transformations, the younger a preview of womanhood and the older
a preview of aging and ultimately future replacement. The comparison is made in the

Power of the American President Essay
Power of the American President
The Founding fathers of America believed in a separation of powers, a system of
checks and balances and a federal system of government. That way power would be
diffused and decentralised and tyranny would be avoided. Implicit in the constitution
is the principle of checks and balances. This refers to the belief that the founding
fathers had that no one branch of the constitutional and government system would
dominate the rest. Thus President and congress often have to approve the
appointments and actions of each other, with the supreme court in the background
protecting the integrity of the constitution. There the president is not all powerful.

The president has the constitutional power to recommend bills to congress and
manage the governments budget, to make treaties with foreign states and direct
federal administration. As well as being head of the executive branch with
jurisdiction over the government bureaucracy he was also to be the commander and
chief of the armed forces.
The growth of presidential power during the course of the 20th century has certainly
been great, but has not been absolute, and the presidents powers are limited in many
respects. The presidents powers under the constitution may have expanded but as
have the congress and the courts and therefore the president still has to work within a
separation of powers . Even with a friendly majority in congress, presidents proposals
may be rejected or amended.
The president may be the head of an economic super power, but it is not the only
super power in the world, and domestically that power is not solely the white houses.
Within the US a degree of economic power has been asserted by congress, and always
the multinational organisations constitute a formidable power beyond that of the

Although she deliberately states that she will not judge his actions one way or the
other, this is the only play she vocally states that judgment is needed, thus her
implication of his disagreeable actions. The irony with this belief is that she is
clearly anti slavery, but alludes to women following their husbands rather than
having a say in important decisions. For instance, when Tuscan informs Oroonoko
that his wife and children may not be fit to escape through the mountains and
woods Oroonoko says, if there were a woman among them so degenerate from
love and virtue to choose slavery before the pursuit of her husband, and with the
hazard of her life to share with him in his fortunes, that such a one out to be

Federalists And Antifederists In The Late 1700s
In the late 1700s, the United States had began to split into two factions: Federalists
and Antifederalists. Factions are groups of citizens united by a common interest. The
reasoning behind the differing views of how the government works across the world
was best said by Locke Men are equal in a natural sense, but society establishes many
dimensions that are unequal . (Barbour and Wright, 2017). In the states, Federalists
wanted a strong central government while anti federalists wanted a weak one. The
Georgians, for example, wanted a strong central authority to provide military
protection for their huge, underpopulated state against the Creek Confederacy;
Jerseymen and Connecticuters wanted to escape from economic bondage to New
York; the Virginians hoped to establish a system which would give that great state its
rightful place in the councils of the republic (Roche, 800). The one thing they agreed
on was having George Washington as president. George Washington tried to be a
neutral leader of the United Statesand suggested for the states to stay together rather
than divide into factions. Thomas Jeffersonis credited as stating: North and South will
hang together if they have you to hang on (Jamison, 2016).
During Washington s second term, the French Revolution was starting to end. This
split the two parties further apart when Washington wanted to be neutral and
Jefferson, his Secretary of State, wanted to support the new French Republic.

Possession In Song Of Solomon
Anthem of Possession
Possession can be expressed in many forms, some physical and some through things
like work and personal debt and gains. This idea of possession is shown throughout
Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon, a tale that follows the Dead Family during their
life in the 1930 s. The story mainly follows Milkman as he travels from Michigan to
Virginia to learn the truth about himself. To do so he must confront his father and
take control of himself. Although Milkman wants to take control and possession of
his life, he must confront his family s lust for possessions and break away from them,
revealed by his grandfather s journey, he sees the importance of leaving behind the
conceptions and prejudice that have dispossessed him. Materialistic possession
plays a pivotal role within Milkman s family and life offering a means of escape
from dispossession, despite its eventual development into greed. Early in the book,
when Milkman believes that his father was the absolute power within his
household, Macon Dead Sr. is telling his family about buying some vacation homes
on the lake and selling them to colored folks during the summer. He questions,
Who s going to live in them? This questioning tone reveals his distrust of his father
and his agreement of the belief that There s no colored people who can afford two
houses. (Morrison 33) Milkman sees his father trying to fill and fix his dispossession
but doesn t agree with his methods. Here he must confront his father s

While reading the Gettysburg Address, one main idea is that Abraham Lincoln is

the Gettysburg address is an allusion to the Founding Fathers and the Declaration of
Independence. By doing this, Lincoln was describing how the United States was
founded. However, in that current moment, the phrase of all men are created equal
had been forgotten.
Another parallel in the Declaration of Independence would be when Jefferson speaks
about war. He writes as free and independent states, they have full power to levy war
(Jefferson). During the Gettysburg Address, Lincoln is standing on a battle ground
where states from the same country had endured in battle. Lincoln also describes how

written because of the harsh treatment the King of Britain was forcing upon the
colonies. With that being said, the colonies could not endure anymore suffering and

After the attacks that killed thousands of people, President George W. Bush went to
ground zero and spoke. When President Bush spoke, he sounded like Lincoln in the
Gettysburg Address. As he was standing on the rubble he commended the people that
lost their lives at that place. He also promised that the people who committed this

Artifact Argumentative Essay
Argumentative essay Artifacts that are found in a country should stay in that country
so it don t get lost or broken. I think that if the artifact is in the museum then it needs
to stay in one place so the object doesn t get tossed around and gets broken. If the
artifact breaks then that is a part of historythat is gone forever and it will not be here
for us to learn about. I feel like if the artifact was found in a certain country then it
needs to be stored in its own countries museums.
In the second story that I ve read called Museums Preserve the Cultures of The World
says that sometimes museums agree that it is appropriate to return these items, but
sometimes the other museums don t return the items back to the right museums that
The Rate Of Teenage Pregnancy
Her name is Isabel . She got pregnant at 15 and brought forth a little girl at 16. One
night her and her boyfriend decided to engage in sexual relations. After that night
her life changed drastically . After 4 weeks she figured out she was pregnant.
Isabel conversed with a trusted auntie, and she took her to go get checked. She peed
in a container and those 2 lines came up. Isabel took a gander at her Aunt ,but she
didn t generally recognize what to say. She told Isabel that it would have been
alright. I am regularly frightened when I see an amazingly youthful young lady
encountering parenthood during a period when her fundamental concerns ought to be

This issue brings up the issue of what should be possible to forestall and bring down
the rates of teenage pregnancy. Keeping in mind the end goal is to avert teenage
pregnancy. Youngsters need a complete comprehension of restraint, preventative
strategies, and outcomes .Young people who are pregnant can t typically bolster the
youngster all alone. Teenage Pregnancy is a developing issue all around the globe.
Despite the fact that the numbers have been brought down, it is still an issue in our
general public. At the point ,when teenagers become pregnant their associations with
their family, companions, and the father of the infant can change a considerable

[4] The use of adhesives eliminates the corrosion associated with dissimilar metals
joining with different galvanic potential, such as the joining of steel with
aluminum[4] The use of adhesive as bonding material does not produce any
deformation in the materials or substrates, eliminating metal grinding processes
(grinding and putty), reducing the manufacturing cost and improving the aesthetics of
the product. [5] Do not produce any mechanical aggression to the substrate, avoiding
any damage to the structure of the material. [5] Great flexibility in the product design
as well as an improvement in its aesthetics. [6]

  • 1. Essay On Power Of Positive Thinking Writing an essay on the power of positive thinking can be both challenging and rewarding. While the concept itself is inspiring, capturing its essence in a well-structured and engaging essay requires careful consideration. One must delve into the intricacies of positive thinking, exploring its psychological, emotional, and even physiological implications. The difficulty lies in balancing personal experiences and anecdotes with researched information and expert opinions. The challenge is to present a nuanced perspective that goes beyond mere clichГ©s and platitudes, offering a profound understanding of how positive thinking can influence individuals and society as a whole. Crafting a compelling introduction that immediately grabs the reader's attention and sets the tone for the essay is crucial. From there, each paragraph must seamlessly flow into the next, building a coherent narrative that explores the multifaceted aspects of positive thinking. Striking the right balance between personal reflection and evidence-based arguments can be intricate, requiring a delicate touch to avoid sounding overly subjective or overly academic. Moreover, maintaining a positive and optimistic tone throughout the essay is essential to align with the topic. This requires careful language choice and a conscious effort to uplift the reader's spirits without veering into superficial positivity. Concluding the essay with a strong and memorable closing statement that reinforces the power of positive thinking adds an extra layer of complexity. The conclusion should leave a lasting impression, prompting the reader to contemplate the essay's message long after reading it. In summary, while writing an essay on the power of positive thinking presents its challenges, the process is an opportunity for personal growth and reflection. • 4. Hidden Within Technology s Kingdom, A Republic Of Letters... Since the beginning of time, humans have created activities to perform in their recreational time. For leisure, cavemen carved paintings on the walls of their caves, while people of the 1800s read books, and people perform a variety of activities today. Activities today are both old and new. These include biking, watching TV, listening to music, and reading. The preference of older recreations, such as reading, over modern recreations, like watching TV, is questionable. But an article, Hidden Within Technologys Kingdom, a Republic of Letters, written by Saul Bellow presents the truth on this situation. Therefore, advances in technology will not make books obsolete due to the people who enjoy reading, pursue writing, and the integration of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, many movies are based on books. This is not only happening today, but it happened in the 1920s. Saul Bellow describes his personal experience when he went to the movies and saw Treasure Island, then he read the book (Bellow 15). This is a popular trend with teenagers today as well. Many of my peers read The Hunger Games series, then went to watch the movies. This expresses many books essentially create popular movies. Like Bellow, watching movies can encourage people to read the book. Books are integrated within movies, so books will not be out of date. In the article, Saul Bellow mentions Teachout s statement, We are not accustomed to thinking of art forms as technologies, but it is what they are (Bellow 14) This represents that books are an art from that tell stories, and movies are a technology that tell stories. This does not mean books will become antiquated because technology will replace them. It seems impossible. Books are tied to technology because of digital books that are available for purchase on many laptops, phones, and tablets. They are more convenient due to their easy storage in electronic devices. This means that although people are not seen carrying books, it does not mean they do not read. Sometimes books are hidden because they are like a treasure to
  • 5. Contribution Of Marxist Historiography Every point in history is an undeniable reaction to the events of the past. Marxist historiographical thinking provides a method by which the world can interpret past and current events in an attempt to evaluate and predict future struggle and resolution. Throughout the centuries never has there been a greater need for Marxist dialectical methodologies in examining the past events than that of the 21st century; as ideological tensions rise due to the transvaluation that western societies go through as a result of post modernist thinking and the rejection of 18th and 20th Century Enlightenment and Modernist values respectively. In an attempt to understand the role of Marxist historiography in the 21st Century one must first understand the fundamentals of Marx s prepositions and their relation to Postmodernist thinking. Marxist historiography stems from class consciousness which concerns itself with the inequality and injustices associated with the presence of a hierarchical class system.* It also proposes in a dialectical light that human action and reaction comes out of materialist influences on the subject, which in turn shapes the material world. That being said, the relevance of this historical viewpoint cannot be understood without first getting a firm grasp of Hegel s theory of alienation; particularly the concept of Subject vs Object and the ideal state of the human person being that of the absolute spirit where this dichotomy (Subject and Object) merges into one
  • 6. Western Society The Five Year Plans Analysis To consolidate his power in the communist government, Stalin launched the five year plans with a mission to increase the total industrial output by 250 percent and agricultural production by 150 percent. His government thought that economic development will help U.S.S.R to catch up with the West. As part of this economic program, he ordered the collectivization of agriculture. His order led to an economic disaster and shortage of basic necessities as large numbers of peasants opposed to the change slaughtered their animals and burned the crops rather than turn them over to the state. This resulted in a severe decrease in agricultural output throughout the years. Amphioxus is a small sea dwelling creator that has no eye, ears, or jaw but can be linked to humans by its nerve cord, segmented muscles that aid in movement, notochord that acts like a backbone, and the gill slits just like the ones human embryos possess. Humans belong to a specialized Chordate category known as vertebrates. • 10. One of Ours by Willa Cather Margaret Elliot is beautiful, talented, critical, unsatisfied, tired of the world at twenty four (Great Short Works, 8). Engaged to a man she has no feelings for, life feels bleak and without purpose. She feels true love once with Eric, but just for a moment. For her whole life, Margaret had searched the faces of men for the look that lay in his eyes. She knew that look had never shone before, would never shine for her on earth again, that such lovecomes to one only in dreams or in impossible places like this, unattainable always. This was Love s self, and in a moment it would die (Great Short Works, 29). For Willa Catherthis is how love exists. Happy relationships are plentiful, but the enchanted, all encapsulating love of dreams only exists in glances. For Eric this glance is enough. He does not regret his decision or the damnation he is sure it will cause. For him a day shall be as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day as his love lives on. In most cases, however love is not enough. Both Margaret and Claude, the protagonist of Cather s novel One of Ours feel this shimmer of love, but in the end must search for meaning elsewhere. Set in a small Nebraska farm town, One of Ours opens several years before the start of the First World War. Claude is unsatisfied with his simple life in the fields, and possesses an idealistic, romantic outlook that propels him to search for meaning on a much different field in Europe. For the purpose of this paper, I am going to focus on the Activity Theory of aging. The Activity Theory states that human activity is mediated by tools. Tools are created during the development of the activity itself and they carry a certain culture. Tool use influences the nature of external behavior and also the mental functioning of each person. The fourth principle is the hierarchical structure of activity. The hierarchy has three levels; activity, action, and operation. Figure 1. Below shows Leont ev s structure of human activity. Activities can be broken down into goal directed actions that have to be undertaken in order to satisfy the object. Actions are conscious and happen automatically. The Activity Theory maintains the elements of the activity. The elements are not fixed but they can change as conditions change. The last principle is development. In Activity Theory, development is not only an object of study, it is also a research method. Research methods in AT is not comprised of actual lab experiments, but the experience of active participation and the monitoring of developmental changes of the study participants. All of the five principles should be looked at as a whole system, because they are associated with various aspects of the whole activity. It was the 1930s that the events of the prohibition era such as bootlegging and the St. Valentines Day Massacre of 1929, and the existence of real life gangsters and the rise of contemporary organized crime helped to encourage this genre. The talkies are accounted for the rise of crime films. The first talkie 100% all talking picture and, of course, the first sound gangster film was The Lights of New York in 1928. Martin Sorcese, Brian De Palma, and Francis Ford Coppolla, who also directed the Godfather, have become the best storytellers of the gangster culture using visual storytelling. Although, the Roman Empire had split long time ago, the monarchical division of the iron empire spread across the side of Europe. Kuhn refutes this point by claiming that Popper s assertion that astrologers escape falsification by explaining away any possible refutations is impossible to support. Kuhn uses the example of reputable records that indicate many instances where astrology categorically failed. Astrology is a very complex science (or non science, depending on your opinion). Measuring the planets and the stars is hard, and in the days when astrology was more popular, the tools for measuring were crude. In addition, few people knew exactly when they were born, a crucial detail needed to perform accurate astrology. Kuhn agrees with Popper in stating that astrology is not a science, but they differ in their reasons. Kuhn main problem with astrology is that the failures of astrology do not give rise to research puzzles. He thinks that when a scientific theory fails to explain a phenomenon, there is a new puzzle for scientists to study, learn, and grow from. In astrology, nothing is learned from mistakes. There is no effort to change the theory to explain why it failed or adopt a new theory. Popper emphasizes the importance of testing when it comes to new theories replacing old ones. Kuhn takes particular offense to this statement. He argues that if one looks at how science is actually done, not how Popper thinks it should be done, it will be clear that many new theories were adopted before they had been tested. Kuhn uses the example of Copernicus theory being adopted over

Although his name should sound familiar, most people know very little about him, if anything at all. Just as discoveries can lead to inventions, inventions can sometimes lead to discoveries. In 1928, Alexander Flemingdiscovered penicillin. Prior to his discovery, patients with infections or trivial injuries often died. A doctor would have to watch, wait, and hope that a patient s immune system would be strong enough to fight and heal. Some do so in an adhoc or reactive fashion, responding to risks as they appear, whilst others are proactive, planning in advance the risks that they wish to assume and how they can best manage them. Since it has become clear over the past few years that risk can be financially damaging when neglected, anecdotal and empirical evidence suggests that institutions increasingly opt for formalized processes to manage uncertainties that can lead to losses. Risk can be classified in a number of ways and though we do not intend to present a detailed taxonomy of risk, a brief overview is useful in order to frame my discussion. This meant that many of the experienced and greatest of British Generals, including Gage himself, did not believe that war was the right option and did not believe in the British cause. So to prevent the catastrophes that Gage caused during the first months of the War, the British should have given the position to a General who was both capable but also sensible. Historians believe that if General Charles Cornwallis had of served in his stead then the early British disasters could have been avoided and the colonists would have been crushed in the first few months. Cornwallis was a competent commander, but when he inherited his Lordship, he often voted against heavy taxation of the colonies.
