Studying research method was not a new experience since I have studied about it in
my under graduate school. In comparison from the previous one I had, ULMS 515
Applied Research Methods Module has enhanced my understanding about how to
conduct a research in an appropriate way to be implemented in the real world setting.

In The Spandrels of San Marco and the Panglossian Paradigm: A critique of the
Adapationist Programme by Gould and Lewontin the article discusses about natural
selection not being the overall general reason for the evolution of species. Gould and
Lewontin provide a pluralistic approach of how species are evolved rather than
basing on natural selection. Therefore, these scientists used the central dome of St
Mark s Cathedral in Venice to represent the other possible explanations of the
evolutionin species. Most importantly, Gould and Lewontin used spandrels and
other findings as an analogy to parallelize the evolution of organisms as an
unintentional byproduct of the species. Gould and Lewontin introduce spandrels
as triangular spaces between the arches and dome. The spandrel is designed in
such a way that is exclusively fitted towards its space. Also, the spandrel shows
severe complexity in intricate designs as well. If one were to look at the detailed
design on the spandrel; he or she would question how the spandrel was able to stay
in its shape and form without losing its detail. This is when Gould and Lewontin
declare that the spandrel is just a simple byproduct of the mounting dome. There was

The closer that R2 is to 1, the better the fit meaning the group of independent

My Experience Of Homecoming
Homecoming The first time I went back home after coming to college was a
rollercoaster of emotions. After arriving home I was embraced with open arms by
my mom and dad. This was the first time I had seen them since being dropped off
at college and I suddenly realized how much I missed them. I called every so often
but being in my own home being able to talk and with them was something I hadn t
ever experienced. All of my worries about homework and future exams were gone
and I got to enjoy the company of my parents. At the beginning of college I
constantly felt like I couldn t be myself. Coming home these feelings vanished
because I was surrounded by those who loved me. After spending a few hours
catching up, I went to reconnect with my high school friends. Seeing them I was
flooded with nostalgia because these were the guys I had spent my life getting to
know. We sat around a campfire and talked all about our college experiences each
with a different story. It felt surreal because even in this short time I could tell
everyone had changed. We all were more mature and in the little time we had

After speaking to the older gentleman, I had so much hope of how this experiment
would happen, but he was the only person that I spoke to that was older, because I
did want to gage the reactions of the younger people I attempted speaking to. The
older gentleman was really the only positive reaction I got from anyone, while

In Slumming It, you experience the life of living in slums in Dharavi, Mumbai. A
slum is an overpopulated urban residential area where is consisted of closely
packed destroyed housing units which is most likely a deteriorated or an
uncompleted infrastructure. In these slums the water is contaminated, sanitation is
hard to keep up with as you can see how diseases are easily prevalent. Dharavi has a
population of approximately 16 million people and more than half live in these
slums. The community of Dharavi keeps a high spirit regardless of what they are
facing. They pray every day and their religion keeps them going and with lots of hope

Abstract
Spectrophotometry measures the amount of light of a specified wavelength, which
passes through a medium. In solutions, Red Blood cells experience hemolysis. The
rate of hemolysis depends on the solutions molecular weight and polarity. The
Sodium Chloride/blood solution did not absorb much of the 540 nm wavelength.
However, the glycerol/blood solution absorbed more of the 540 nm light
wavelength. The polar glycerol/blood solution absorbed a greater amount of light
and lysed. This was due to the ease at which glycerol penetrated the red blood cell s

1.2mL of 0.3 M glycerol was added to a cuvette, which is placed in a sample holder.
Transfer the cuvette to the sample holder in the machine and close the lid gently.
Blank the machine by pressing the 0 ABS. 3 mL of 0.3 M glycerol was added to a
test tube and10 microliters of whole blood was pipetted into this solution. The tube
was covered with a piece of Para film and inverted to gently to mix. The time was
recorded. Then, 1.2 mL of the blood/glycerol suspension was transferred into a new
cuvette. The cuvette was inserted into the machine and initial absorbance of the
sample and time was recorded. The cuvette was covered and mixed. The absorbance
of the solution was read at 1 minute intervals and recorded until the absorbance
values stabilized. All steps were repeated for the 0.15M Sodium Chloride solution as
well. After blanking the spectrophotometer with 0.15M Sodium Chloride alone, the
absorbance of the blood/Sodium Chloride solution was recorded at 1 minute intervals
for the same time course as the blood/glycerol
