INTRODUCTION
DTEAstands for Delhi TamilEducation Association.DTEAwas registered with
the MadrasiEducationAssociation(MEA) in 1919 in Shimla by a group of
Tamilianswho wanted to teach their children traditionalTamilvalues.
This small community in Delhi raised funds for the second building by way of
small voluntarycontributions.
PROBLEMS
This schoolin MotiBagh was constructed 50 years backand so with time the
structurehas degraded. There is no properdrainageof rain water from the
terracewhich leads to seepageof rainwater into the classrooms.
SOLUTIONS
Architect V.P SONI has taken the responsibility of treating the terrace by the
method of local Mud Fuska treatmentfollowed by waterproofing.
CHEMICAL TREATMENT
 The terrace is divided into Ridges.
 Each ridge is sloping towards a rain water pipe.
 So in this way all the water flows to the pipes and is not stagnanton the
floor.
 Water proofing is then done by adding Dr. Fixit
(1kg cement+ 1l of compound)
 Plasteringis done which is 12mm thick.
 Pidifier 2k is applied (1kg cement+ Pidifier).
15kg of this mixture can do 12sqftof area.
 After drying apply mesh then apply
perpendicularly and plaster again.
 Levelling is done and further brick
tiles are laid with the mixture.



 The mixture contains mud and
straw.
 The workersstump the mixture for
at least 4 hours a day to make it uniform.
 The cornersof the terrace are made
curved.

LOCATION: NETRA ECOTECH PARK-3, GREATER NOIDA
ACCESSIBILITY: Noida Expressway
INTRODUCTION
‘NETRA’ has been setup within NTPC to develop technology and to carry out
in-house and out-house research work.
The three core divisions are:
* Research Center
* TechnologyDevelopment
* Scientific Services
ARCHITECT: Raj Rewal
TOTAL AREA: 24000sqm
MATERIALS USED ON THE SITE:
 Fly ash bricks
 RCC
 Wooden shuttering
 Solar panels
 Bricks
 Concrete
FEATURES
 There is a lab on site where all the
materialare checked example their
compressivestrength,water holding
capacity,particle size etc. by the
machineslike compressiontesting
machine,electric oven,proctortest
apparatus,core cutter,sieves etc.
before they are used in construction.
 Below is the lab shown
SIEVES HOT PLATE
 In the center an auditorium is placed surroundedby Research
and Analysis Centres.
 There is a large machine on site known as the batching plant.
 This is a device that mixes varioussubstitutesto form concrete.
 Some of these inputs include sand, water, aggregate (rocks, gravel,
etc.), fly ash,potash,and cement.
 A hostelis also under construction with an accomodation of 50
people.
 The sizes of the room are 6.5m by 4.4m.
 Flyash bricks havebeen used as they are lighter and cheaper.
