BrahMos II is a hypersonic cruise missile currently being developed jointly by India and Russia. It is expected to have a range of 290 km and reach speeds of Mach 7, propelled by a scramjet engine. The BrahMos II will be launched from ships, submarines, aircraft, and land. Its top speed will be double the current BrahMos-I missile, making it the fastest cruise missile. Testing began in 2012 and variants will arm Indian and Russian naval ships.
