WIRELESS COMMUNICATION
• Wireless Communication ,as the name
suggests, is a type of data communication that
is performed and delivered wirelessly.
• It is the transfer of information between two
points that are not connected by an electrical
conductor.
WIRELESS COMMUNICATION
• Wireless Communication takes place via
electromagnetic waves.
• Examples of wireless technologies
include: VSAT, Bluetooth, microwave and
Wi-Fi.
BLUETOOTH
DEFINITION OF BLUETOOTH
• Bluetooth is a short range and low price
wireless technology originally developed for
exchanging data over short distances from
fixed and mobile devices, creating personal
area networks(PAN).
• Wireless signals transmitted with Bluetooth
cover short distances, typically up to 30 feet
(10 meters). Bluetooth devices generally
communicate at less than 1 Mbps.
Bluetooth
• Bluetooth is a wireless technology that is
embedded in the electronic gadgets. It allows
us to talk and share information such as
music, voice and video wirelessly. Bluetooth
technology uses radio waves just like mobile
phones, TV and FM radio. The difference
between these devices and Bluetooth wireless
technologies is the distance.
PARAMETERS OF BLUETOOTH DEVICES
• It is a protocol for exchanging data over short
distances from fixed and mobile devices,
creating personal area networks.
• There are two important parameters of
Bluetooth devices:
• 1.CLASSES
• 2.PROFILE
CLASSES
• “CLASSES” signifies the distance at which a
Bluetooth connection is possible.
PROFILE
• A “Profile” is a type of Bluetooth connection.
The most common are headset(hsp)and hands
free(hfp).
• Profiles that enable the device to connect to a
wireless headset or hands free.
• Some other Profiles are (OBEX) i.e,( object
exchange), which allows transfer of files,
contacts and events and (A2DP) i.e, (advanced
audio distribution profile),which adds support
for streaming of stereo sound.
HISTORY OF BLUETOOTH
• Bluetooth was discovered in 1940.
• In 1994,Ericcson a Swedish company created
the Bluetooth technology.
• In 1998,five major companies
IBM,INTEL,NOKIA,TOSHIBA AND ERICCSON
worked together to connect their products
using Bluetooth technology.
• Seeing that the technology worked,
companies formed the special interest group
(SIG) Bluetooth. This organization is dedicated
to keeping this technology. Bluetooth
technology is not possessed by a single
company, but the members of the Bluetooth
SIG all work together to develop the
technology.
TYPES OF BLUETOOTH
• THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF BLUETOOTH:
• 1. BLUETOOTH DONGLE
• 2. BLUETOOTH HEADSET
BLUETOOTH DONGLE
• Bluetooth Dongle is simply defined as an
accessory to the computer. By using a
Bluetooth dongle a computer can be
wirelessly linked to other devices.
• Installing a Bluetooth dongle is easy. Simply
insert the CD that came with it .Follow the
instructions given and then plug the dongle
into a free USB port.
BLUETOOTH HEADSET
• Bluetooth headsets are mainly used with
compatible cell phones.
• We can place the Bluetooth headset on our
ears and roam freely while talking on phone.
APPLICATION OF BLUETOOTH
APPLICATION OF BLUETOOTH
• With Bluetooth being very popular with
wireless, it’s no wonder there are many
applications available for the technology.
Bluetooth has eradicated the use of cords,
cables, adapters and permits the electronic
devices to communicate wirelessly among
each other.
• 1. Bluetooth's biggest contribution is to
provide a phone with a headset that works
wirelessly.
APPLICATION
• 2. PC OR Laptop which has an enabled
Bluetooth can communicate with each other
and update the latest information. This
technology has helped in synchronizing the
data easily.
• 3.Wireless Mouse and Keyboards are used.
• 4.Transfer of files, contact details ,calendar
appointments between devices becomes
possible.
APPLICATION
• 5.In game consoles like Sony's play station 3
and PSP go use Bluetooth for there respective
wireless controllers.
• 6.IN 2004, released cars like Toyota Prius have
hands free call system.
Advantages Of Bluetooth
• 1.Bluetooth devices are wireless.
• 2.Bluetooth technology is inexpensive.
• 3.Low energy consumption.
• 4.Provides range up to 100 meters.
• 5.helps to send data and voice easily to other
devices.
Disadvantages Of Bluetooth
• 1.It has a short range.
• 2.Lowers the battery life when kept on even
after using.
• 3.Less security. It can be hacked easily.
Conclusion
• BLUETOOTH IS A WIRELES TECHNOLOGY THAT
HAS BROUGHT CONVINIENCE TO OUR LIFE AS:
• 1.IT REDUSES COST AND USE OF CABLE WIRES.
• 2.FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS ARE TO BE MADE
IN TERMS OF POWER REDUCTION AND
RANGE.
