2. Established the Niitsitaapi Roots Tree Planting Project
Niitsitaapi Roots is a tree planting project that is dedicated to balancing modern
business practices with Niitsitaapi First Nation cultural values and beliefs in efforts
to fight climate change.
Taught the youth cultural history to gain understanding of cultural identity and
intergenerational effects on Aboriginal youth and how/why common contemporary
issues arise in Aboriginal communities.
Taught the youth of the many policies that were enforced on Aboriginal people and
resulted on economic development to be delayed and behind the rest of the
Canadian economy.
Taught the youth about traditional practices our people follow including always
giving back to the land when you take from it.
Empowered youth to be proud of who they are and where there from.
