EUNICERT: ETHEREUM BASED DIGITAL CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION SYSTEMIJNSA Journal
The fake certificate is a special global problem in today's digital age. Thousands of universities and educational institutions around the world do not exist but can release hundreds of millions of fake degrees. Verifying the integrity of qualifications is a real challenge for today's employers. Applying the anti-data
modifying properties of blockchain technology, this study proposes a solution issuing and verifying digital certificates called EUniCert to solve this problem. By changing the design and integrating new consensus algorithm used in Ethereum platform into the Unicoin network that was used to verify and store the information related to the issued digital certificate, the EUniCert improves the latency to validate transactions as well as the number of verified blocks in the blockchain network compared to the previous solution that we have proposed. We implement a simple blockchain system to illustrate the management operation of the digital certificates on the ethereum platform. Besides, we conduct a simulation to evaluate the performance of our proposal compared with the previous system. The result is that the average latency decreases by 3.27 times as well as the number of verified blocks increases by 11% compared with the previous system.
Investigation of Blockchain Based Identity System for Privacy Preserving Univ...ijtsrd
Existing blockchain based identity systems are analyzed under the context of the university identity management requirements. The private or consortium blockchain is more suitable for identity system which will be used for university. The transparency of public blockchains raises some concerns for privacy and confidentiality. The most important issue is that the volume of the data generated can be very large exceeding the practical storage capabilities of the current blockchain usages. The existing identity systems are not well fixed with the university identity management system really needs, especially they remain needing the relevant issue of effective consent revocation. The append only storage of blockchain can be a barrier for implementing the revocability of consent. Some private blockchain based system has the potential vendor lock in effects. Thus, hybrid identity system is suggested for university identity management. A decentralized consensus application using blockchain ecosystem IJECEIAES
The consensus is a critical operation of any decision-making process. It involves a set of eligible members; whose decision need to be honored by taking their acknowledgment before making any decision. The traditional consensus process follows centralized architecture, the members need to rely on and trust this architecture. The proposed system aims to develop a secure decentralized consensus application in the untrusted environment by making use of blockchain technology along with smart contract and interplanetary file system (IPFS).

Identity can seem deceptively simple. We know who we are. Sometimes we have to convince others of that fact and confirm other characteristics: our age, our qualifications, or our right to access some services or tools. This happens every day over the Internet, but in ways that are disorganized, redundant, and risky. The lack of reliable, universal standards puts our private information at risk of public dissemination, fraud or worse.
The pioneers developing the internet didn’t define nuanced standards for identity -- most everything was just username and passwords. Over the past 20 years we have seen a range of standards that solve some identity challenges, including SAML, LDAP, OpenID Connect, OAuth, SCIM, Information Cards, and FIDO. None of them have comprehensively addressed the challenge of identity at internet scale.
A new set of standards is emerging that creates an infrastructure for self-sovereign identity that can scale. This talk looks forward to help you think ahead and prepare for this new infrastructure. We will walk through standards that together create a new identity infrastructure that leverages the blockchain. This isn’t about what you can implement tomorrow to solve your employee identity challenges or manage customer accounts. It will instead prepare you for the coming changes and help you play a role in shaping them.

Blockchains Impact on Identity Management.pdfniahiggins21
Blockchain Identity Management presents a decentralized and secure solution that reinstates users’ control through a distributed trust model. This innovative technology not only delivers transparency and security but also extends its manifold features to benefit various industries, adding substantial value to their operations. Consequently, the transformative potential of blockchain is poised to redefine the conventional approaches to identity management, ensuring a highly secure and efficient paradigm.
The existing identity management framework falls short in terms of both security and reliability. At every juncture, individuals are required to authenticate themselves using multiple government-issued IDs such as Voter ID, Passport, PAN card, and more. Blockchain technology is set to revolutionize this outdated system, offering a highly secure alternative that not only eliminates vulnerabilities but also ensures a more streamlined and user-centric approach to identity verification.
The top benefits of blockchain app development are increased security. Business databases, especially in the financial services and insurance industries, are prone to attacks by hackers and scammers. In a blockchain network, all transactions can be viewed by authenticated members before being entered into the distributed ledger. Because information is stored on a chain of computer systems rather than on a single server, data cannot be changed from a single point.
Authentication and Authorization ModelsCSCJournals
In computer science distributed systems could be more secured with a distributed trust model based on either PKI or Kerberos. However, it becomes difficult to establish trust relationship across heterogeneous domains due to different actual trust mechanism and security policy as well as the intrinsic flaw of each trust model. Since Internet has been used commonly in information systems technologies, many applications need some security capabilities to protect against threats to the communication of information. Two critical procedures of these capabilities are authentication and authorization. This report presents a strong authentication and authorization model using three standard frameworks. They are PKI, PMI, and Directory. The trust in this approach is enabled by the use of public key infrastructure (PKI) which is applied for client two-factor authentication and secures the infrastructure. We introduce the preventive activity-based authorization policy for dynamic user privilege controls. It helps prevent successive unauthorized requests in a formal manner. At the core, we apply the Multi-Agent System (MAS) concept to facilitate the authentication and the authorization process in order to work with multi-applications and multi-clients more dynamically and efficiently.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

2. INTRODUCTION
When blockchain technology took birth in 2009, the innovation had a viable promise to society, yet
limiting themselves to a small horizon in terms of applicability. The technology of blockchain
shimmered in and around the cryptocurrencies it introduced.
However, the industry application in blockchain was very limited and narrowed. But today, the
situation is different. Hardly there are industries that haven’t tasted the secret sauce of blockchain.
Industries like supply chain management, health, automobiles, defense, telecommunication, needless
to say even food industries have adopted blockchain technology to carry their industry operations and
have witnessed qualitative changes in their processes.
Document verification using blockchain technology is yet another generic that got recently
explored. Needless to say, this kind of document verification can enhance the authenticity and
integrity of the records, confidently establishing a label of trust on both - issuing authority and
claimers.
3. blocktick is one such application that helps you to ascertain the integrity of your records. The
medium helps institutions to generate, verify and issue professional certificates with much ease.
The institutions can establish a label of trust and reliability via offering tamper-free certificates to
the participants, be it the students or the employees.
The participants can thereby own a credible, cryptographically signed documents and can share
their credentials anytime to third-parties for further verifications.
In this world, where certificates are a marketing tool for the institutions and certificates, a living
proof of the participant’s earned credits, blockchain applications like blocktick can be of great
help to both institutions and its partakers.
The blockchain-powered system can help these institutions via providing a decentralized,
unalterable and secure information or asset storage to generate tamper-free records. Rather
depending largely on third-party providers, the institutions can independently store data,
generate certificates based on collected data and issue them confidently.
4. On the other hand, aluminis get all the benefits of having secure digital versions of their credentials,
which can be easily shared with their recruiters and other delegates. The partakers are also freed from
long-running waits of certificate-seeking, cost of issuance charged by authorities, much seen in
conventional zones.
The blocktick application can truly revolutionize the communication channels, enhance the efficiency
and transparency within the educational sector and job market via its feasible practice. With zero
dependencies on third party, no time-consuming processes, the blockchain assisted verification
process, simply enhances the issuing and verification of credentials. Be it the academic credentials or
professional certifications, blocktick helps in ensuring longevity and interoperability of your digital
records. The blockchain anchored document verification platform gives institutions the tool to
independently verify and issue credentials and other related documents. With blocktick, one can take
full advantage of the highest security and privacy levels of your digital records.
5. Also, blocktick is committed to self-sovereign identity of users, enabling user control of their claims via
easy-to-use verification portal. Without a single point of failure and a long span of time, blocktick
commits to verify and issue credentials in the most professional manner.
The document verification app contains components for issuing, viewing, and verifying certificates
across the blockchain. These components form all the parts needed for a complete ecosystem.
3 components of blocktick platform.
1. Issuing subsystem
a. A Linux based desktop application.
2. Verification subsystem
a. A verification server, written in node.js.
b. A web portal for verification.
6. 3. Blockchain subsystem
a. A highly efficient blocktick smart-contract in EOS blockchain.
b. Components which interconnect issue and verification subsystems.
7. Deliverables
1. A Linux based desktop application.
2. A web application in nodejs for verifying documents.
3. A complete portal for document management.
a. Admin portal.
b. User document management portal.
c. Verification portal.
d. Email templates.
4. An extendible XML schema
9. Let’s dive deeper.
1. The blocktick’s issuing desktop application works on XML data. Making use of the highly
customizable XML schema, the user can export their batch of data from different sources, say
database or spreadsheet into the XML format.
2. Input the XML file to the Linux based desktop application. Within a few clicks, the desktop
application enables you to issue the documents into the blockchain. While showing the minimalistic
efforts to end-users, there are several processes that are performed in the background, which includes
a. Generating individual documents in JSON format from the input XML file.
b. Generating crypto elements out of these documents.
c. Signing and pushing a transaction on EOS blockchain, utilizing highly optimized blocktick smart-
contract embedded with crypto elements.
10. d. Updating each JSON document with this blockchain transaction details, so that each documents are
independently verifiable.
e. Storing updated JSON documents into the output folder with a folder name, which comes as the
batch name.
3. Upload these documents into your customized document management portal.
And finally, verify these documents from anywhere anytime by entering the document ID.
On each verification requests sent to the nodejs verification server, there are 5 efficient tests
performed to assure the document’s credibility.
1. Existence check - Check whether the issuance is recorded on the blockchain or not.
2. Integrity check - Check for any data manipulation.
3. Revoke status check - Check whether the document is revoked or not.
11. 4. Authenticity check - Check whether document issuer is genuine or not.
5. Validity check - Check whether the document is expired or not.
These tests are performed using the crypto elements recorded on each document with the help of
EOS blockchain. If any of the above tests fail, the verification process is put to stop and the specific
reason is shown to the users.
Not yet finished.
You can embed your document with a QR code so that simply scanning the document with your
smart-phone suffices your document verification process.
As per our policy, anyone can verify anyone’s document by simply entering document ID. This doesn’t
expose any document data to users. If the document verification succeeds, in the next step users can
proceed to view the document.
12. Users privacy is also taken care of blocktick. The application helps you in setting document visibility as
‘Everyone’ or ‘Privileged’ based on your preference. Our process flow makes super easy to manage
this. The users can seamlessly request their access for the document in case of necessity.
Share the documents that have a label of trust. The blocktick is an easy way to share your verified
credentials. Request demo to know more on the application
