Spilling Out on My Journey
Not consciously aware, I fell asleep in my dreams. My little sister, Anastasia, who is two years

Anastasia gave me a little pat on my face. I reached her hand and pulled her down on my bed, messed

Rap music is the most popular genre today. The root of rap is people playing different instrument and

How to Teach Reported Speech
1.6. How to Teach Reported Speech Review Practice Lesson plan
Teaching students reported or indirect speech can be complicated by the all the changes that are
required when moving from direct speech into reported speech. First off, students should understand
that reported speech is quite useful in conversational English as relating what someone has said using
quote and unquote is awkward at best. A further aspect of reported speech is encouraging students to
use other reporting verbs beyond say and tell .
Introducing Reported Speech
Start with Tenses
I find it best to start off with simple examples in which changes are only made in tense. For example:
Write on the Board:
Direct Speech

Exercise 2: Ask you partner the following questions making sure to take good notes. After you have
finished the questions, find a new partner and report what you have learnt about your first partner
using reported speech.
What is your favorite sport and how long have you been playing/doing it?
What are your plans for your next vacation?
How long have you known your best friend? Can you give me a description of him/her?
What kind of music do you like? Have you always listened to that kind of music?
What did you use to do when you were younger that you don t do anymore?
Do you have any predictions about the future?
Can you tell me what you do on a typical Saturday afternoon?
What were you doing yesterday at this time?
Which two promises will you make concerning learning English?
As students become familiar with the reported speech, introduce a wider range of reporting verbs to
help students move past say and tell .
There are a number of other reporting verbs which can more accurately describe what someone has
said. These verbs take a variety of structures. The following list gives you reporting verbs in various
categories based on sentence structure. Notice that a number of verbs can take more than one form.

Adversity Horace Quote Analysis
Quite often you hear that we do not grow without failure; that failure is what teaches us a new skill
and how to then succeed. I was not familiar with the quote, adversity has the effect of eliciting talents
which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant, by Horace, however I think this quote is
true. To me, this means that when someone has some kind of disadvantage, that person can use the
challenge to his advantage through self reflection, determination, and hope. Every person faces an
obstacle, usually many and of various degrees of challenge, and although you cannot control the
situation, you can control your reaction. Those of us that learn from adversity take our time to figure
out how to approach the problem in a new manner. We recognize that one barrier is not a reason to
abandon our course. We think outside the box for how to overcome the challenge. We learn from the
first failure and we regroup for the next approach. Failure teaches you how to define yourself rather
than how others define you. All four of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Profile Of Interdisciplinary Senior Design Project
A Profile of Interdisciplinary Senior Design Project
Abstract:
Interdisciplinary undergraduate engineering programs have increased in importance and significance
over past few years. Interdisciplinary research areas are strongly motivated to become disciplines
themselves. If they succeed, they can establish their own research funding programs and make their
own tenure and promotion decisions. Interdisciplinary studies can also give skills that help future
engineers to cope in a changing environment. To understand the strengths and weaknesses of these
interdisciplinary courses and programs, it is important to examine how students perceptions develop
through the duration of the course, specifically in regards to their approach to an ... Show more

The approach towards this project shows interdisciplinary learning between various engineering
fields. First thing to start is designing of table which involves precise dimensions and this involves
mechanical engineering to implement material modeling. Secondly, the design also involves kient
sensor which needs to be embedded with the simulator and programmed through assembly language,
requires electrical engineering in it. Finally all the functionality and image processing results are
programmed using JAVA coding which are exclusively done by computer engineering. This shows the
importance of Interdisciplinary studies.
Various heat exchanger designs are proposed for cooling beer wort from boiling temperature to
fermentation temperature. In beer making cooling the wort quickly is very important for three main
reasons: it avoids oxidation, bacteria contamination, and chill haze formation. Fast cooling the wort
provides a thermal shock to these heat sensitive proteins causing them to permanently precipitate.
Chillpipe heat exchanger is been designed and developed, that will cool 5 gallons of wort in less than
4 minutes, and that is easy to clean and set up. This involves using specialized software called S Thex

Human Rights And The Rights
What exactly are Human Rights, can they be violated? Many people don t pay too much attention to
this global issue, however the violation of human rights is a tremendous and current problem. All
human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and
integrity and should act towards one another. Human Rights will be rights that you have basically in
light of the fact that you are a human. In the event that you went around and asked diverse individuals
What is Human Rights? you would get a variety of answers. A human right should not be taken away
by nobody under any circumstances. Mr. Romulo once stated that The Universal aim is to achieve
respect for the entire human race, not just for the dominant few . The global human rights
development was strengthened when the United Nations general get together conceded to the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948.The Universal Declaration of Human
Rights was created, alongside the thirty rights that all individuals are approved to. At the point when
the United Nations turned into a universal government it should keep countries from future clashes
including observing human rights internationally. Throughout the world human rights have been
abused and looked over by the cruel masses of society. Every human being is born with rights or civil
rights at least. Civil rights contain freedom of press, speech, assembly: the right to vote, most

Karl Popper And The Scientific Method
Karl Popper is commonly regarded as one of the greatest philosophers of science in the 20th Century.
He is well known for his rejection of the inductivist viewpoint of the scientific method, in which one
uses observation to propose a law to generalize an observed pattern, and later confirm that law through
more observation. Popper states that induction cannot be logically justified (Popper 14). Inductivism
relies on the process of inductive reasoning which is a logical process in which multiple premises, all
thought to be true and found to be true most of the time, are combined to obtain a conclusion and in
many cases formulate a law or theory. Popper rejected the inductivist viewpoint in favor of a theory
called empirical falsification which holds that a theory can never be proven, but it can be falsified, and
therefore it can and needs to be scrutinized through experimentation.
In his work Conjectures and Refutations, Popper discussed several aspects of induction including the
topics of conjectures (opinions or conclusions formed on the basis of incomplete information) or
tentative theories and refutations (ways to refute an argument, opinion, testimony, doctrine, or theory,
through contradicting evidence) or the acts of disproving arguments through counterexamples
(Oxford).
Popper opines that a significant problem with the scientific method is that scientists get so caught up
in evidence that supports a specific conjecture that they either 1) fail to consider

The Core Framework Of Paternalistic Leadership Style
Let s now turn our attention to the core elements of paternalistic leadership. In this section, we will
explore the core framework of paternalistic leadership style, before analysing two core theories of
motivation that drive the framework. At the end, we ll also explore the two separate strains of
paternalistic framework: benevolent and exploitative models.
The core framework
When it comes to leadership, a few core elements guide the way in which different leadership styles
organise and manifest. These are:
The decision making power Who has the power to decide?
The legitimacy of rule Where does the power come from?
Paternalistic framework is built around the authoritative idea that the leader is the person with the
power to decide and his legitimacy comes from his or her expertise. The leader has the final say in
making decisions and consultation is not required, as the leader is expected to make choices that
benefit the subordinates.
The subordinates are treated as an extended family and in a sense have a more partner like relationship
with the leader than in autocratic model, for example. The leader puts the wellbeing of the
subordinates at the centre of decision making and tries to ensure people are treated fairly. Nonetheless,
the power ultimately lies in the hands of the leader.
Furthermore, the power the rule comes from the leader s position and the idea that he or she is the
most capable of making the decisions. The legitimacy of rule relies on loyalty

An Evolutionary Ethical Theory of Social Risks and...
An Evolutionary Ethical Theory of Social Risks and Opportunities
ABSTRACT: Social standards guide us in what to do and what to refrain from doing. But can social
moral or legal standards be trusted? This paper presents an evolutionary ethical theory that generates
trustworthy ethical norms. Each norm is assigned a demonstrable risk, called an ethical risk, that
depends on both human behavior and danger to the survival of society. The assigned risk is minimal if
and only if everybody obeys the norm. The higher the risk assigned to a norm, the higher the norm s
rank (an empirical quantity depending on the evolutionary status of society). An ordered finite set of
ethical risks and ethical norms allows the settlement of ethical ... Show more content on

Hence in the western world tendencies to violence are rising, corruption [iwd, p.8] is on the increase.
And in Germany, for example, a third of all marriages break up, the birth rate is low, the abortion rate
is high and every third household consists of a single person [Handelsblatt]. Is the West, as East Asian
critics smugly say, a group of newly decaying countries [Wickert, p.19]?
If this reproach is right, the decay of a specific society should be avoided by appropriate behaviour
patterns. Some of them may be identified already by a thought experiment: If violence, theft or
deception are the rule, people and their society go to ruin; the situation is stabilised when everyone
helps each other, for then violence or deception are no longer means of survival. Ethics as a theory of
rightful dealings involves empirical research on behaviourally conditioned ethical risks, which may
depend on the technological level of a society. Each of these ethical risks jeopardizes the survival both
of individual citizens and their society as a whole. An ethical risk is a quantity with a certain
magnitude; with each ethical risk goes an ethical norm which is the condition for the minimisation of
that particular risk. Unfortunately risks are seldom independent from one another. So only the
simultaneous observance of various ethical norms minimises all essential collective and individual
survival risks. If only a single ethical

differences throughout their time. Because the Roman World began their religion multiple years
before Christianity began to erupt, therefore Christianity was persecuted by the Roman World. The
Roman World based their religion off gods and goddesses while Christianity was based off of Jesus
and his crucifixion on the cross for our sins. These religions share different but in some way similar

Jesus Christ is believed to be the son of God and is considered the human version of God. Christianity
also believes in the Holy Spirit, which is with us always in everything we do. The Christian faith is
based on the belief that Jesus was born in a manger of the virgin Mary. It is believed that he lived a
perfect life where he made no mistakes or sins. Jesus was believed to have died on a cross for our sins
while being spat upon and cursed with a crown of thorns upon his head. Next, Jesus was buried in a
tomb and rose from the dead three days later. Finally, Jesus descended into heaven to be with his
father once again. Christians believe that in order to achieve eternal life you must accept Jesus into
your life by believing that all this information is true and you must ask for forgiveness of your sins.
Christians believe that Jesus will return one day to earth and will judge everyone and will take all
Christians back to heaven with him to be with his father God. Christianity began to take off in Ancient
Rome because of St. Paul. Paul began by creating churches in Asia Minor and Greece. He later began
to take his teachings to ancient Rome. The poor people in ancient Rome began to believe in
Christianity first. Christianity was illegal in Ancient Rome. If followers were caught by Rome they
faced death for their actions. Therefore, Christians had to meet in secret so they were not killed for
their beliefs. In 313 AD the Emperor Constantine, finally

This type of physical environment is a particularly healthy one with people being exposed to trees and
fresh air blowing in from the sea rather than the smog staying overhead like some gloomy cloud that
we are accustomed too in Southern California. Since most of the country is covered by mountains it is
extremely hard to farm, so people took to the sea to find food, and with that Japan had created a food
so unique it is still eaten today and that is sushi. Sushi became such a popular food due to the idea of
its freshness, meaning that the fish is still fresh since it is served raw to you, and as Americans we tend
to associate freshness with healthiness. With this idea of having a healthy body the Japanese are one of
the healthiest countries as Benjamin H Senauer in his writings of Why Is the Obesity Rate So Low in

Cholera Essay
Background:
Cholera is a dehydrating illness that affects millions of people worldwide. Although cholera vaccines
can provide some protection against illness, the protective efficacy conferred by current vaccines are
not equivalent to natural infection of Vibrio cholerae (1,2). To combat cholera infection, the WHO has
proposed a global initiative to reduce cholera deaths by 90 percent by 2030. In this call to action, the
WHO designates the improvement and distribution of oral cholera vaccines as essential to success (3).

Many of the antibodies characterized were specific to the o antigen, part of the lipopolysaccharide
(LPS) in the outer membrane of V. cholerae (4). After reviewing this study, we selected the IgG P1 A2
monoclonal antibody, specific to the o antigen, as an appropriate vector to standardize the vibriocidal
through standard killing of V. cholerae in a vibriocidal assay. IgG P1 A2 was chosen due to its low
EC50 (ng/mL) concentration relative to the other monoclonal antibodies (Fig. 1A B). By using a
standard concentration of monoclonal antibody run alongside serum in a vibriocidal assay, cross lab
differences in serum titer can be adjusted for by relative differences in IgG P1 A2 antibody
concentrations at the fifty percent growth inhibition point of the bacteria.
Investigating Cross Lab Variation: To investigate this hypothesis, data had to be generated to employ
the standardization method. In collaboration with investigators at the University of Utah and the
icddr,b (International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh), the serum of 45 and 30
cholera patients from Haiti and South Sudan were analyzed by vibriocidal against the V. cholerae

The Presentation Of Abdominal Pain
A COMMON PRESENTATION IN AN UNCOMMON DISEASE; RIGHT UPPER QUADRANT
PAIN INTRODUCTION The presentation of abdominal pain is a common one, it is very non specific
and can be challenging to diagnose. When abdominal pain is localized to the right upper quadrant
(RUQ), a broad range of differentials come to mind in relation to the underlying organs in that region.
These differentials are narrowed down based on other parts of the history like the onset and duration
of the pain, age, sex, associated symptoms like fever, nausea, vomiting etc, and comorbid conditions.
Right upper quadrant pain can be benign but it can also signal serious pathology. Early diagnosis is
key to preventing serious complications. This case presentation aims to highlight a presentation of
right upper quadrant abdominal pain in a 36 year old male which heralded a more sinister pathology
despite the absence of risk factors. CASE REPORT A 35 year old African American male with a past
medical history of hepatic hemangioma and borderline hypertension presented with a one week of

Associated symptoms are chills, night sweats and fatigue. He denied any recent sick contacts, recent

There are some groups that none of us has any choice in whether we belong to them or not. Factors
such as gender, ethnicity, family and even social status are at birth, groups that we belong to, yet
cannot choose, and many of these endure throughout life. Although family, religious beliefs and even
social status can be altered in later life, all of these groups are ones that are integral to an individual s
identity and in fact add it in life. However, as a child their influence is perhaps even more important as
in these formative years one s gender, culture, family and even religion actively create individual
identity.
As we grow as develop as individuals we begin to make choices about where we want to find
belonging. This can be seen in choices as minor as belonging to a football club or friendship group, to
more life altering choices such as being a member of a political party or protest group such as Green
peace. As individuals make such choices they do not sacrifice their identities, but rather work to
increase and from their ever changing sense of self. Such choices can also be made after life altering
circumstances, such as when people feel a need to join victim s group or support groups when they or
a loved one contract a chronic or terminal illness.

A Case Of Statutes Trumping Common Law
This is a case of statutes trumping Common Law. The seller would allege that there was a mistake in
the advertisement and that, as advertisements are not offer, no contract was formed. This is a mistake,
as the facts demonstrate; New Jersey Vehicle Code § 4251 trumps the common law practices of offers
and mistakes. Lonergan v. Scolnick tells us that advertisements are simply manifestations of
willingness to enter into a bargain, but are not meant to justify another person in understanding that
his assent to that bargain is invited and will conclude it, as offers do (Restatement 2nd §24).
Therefore, the advertisement is not considered to be an offer to sell the vehicle at the stated price.
Under Common Law, ABC Motors would be able to refuse to sell the car at the mistaken price of
$25,000. However, in New Jersey, advertisements for the sale of automobiles are governed by a
statute, New Jersey Vehicle Code § 4251, stating, A dealer of automobiles in this state may not decline

Total Serum Protein Determination Lab Report
Introduction
Total serum protein determination is a standard clinical test that is often used for the diagnosis of
diseases involving the kidneys, liver or bone marrow and other metabolic or nutritional disorders1.
Blood plasma contains approximately 7% proteins by weight and the fluid that remains after the
clotting factors are removed from the plasma is the serum2. Albumin and globulin are the most
common blood proteins, and the total protein is the combined measure of the two3. The most
abundant protein is albumin, which acts as a carrier of many different molecules in the blood and
helps maintain blood volume2. The globulin proteins include many enzymes and elements of the
immune system such as antibodies and immunoglobulins2. Changes in ... Show more content on

This method is a chromogenic test that uses biuret reagent to detect the presence of peptide bonds in
blood serum12. The active ingredients in the reagent are sodium hydroxide, potassium sodium tartrate
and copper sulphate pentahydrate13. The development of a violet colour after incubation at room
temperature is indicative of the presence of proteins and peptides in the blood serum12. A coloured
coordination complex forms when the copper ions (Cu2+) binds to the deprotonated nitrogen atoms
that form the peptide bonds of the amino acids12. Reactions can also occur between Cu2+ and the
nitrogen in the amide groups and the imidazole rings12. The colour intensifies after a period of
incubation as the alkalinity of the solution increases and more deprotonated nitrogen atoms become
available12. The concentration of the protein and the colour intensity are proportional, thereby
exhibiting a linear relationship in accordance with the Beer Lambert law14. Absorbance is measured

We Real Cool Analysis
Poetry is comprised of many forms and within each form, poets have created; stanzas, rhythm, images,
symbolism, meter and meanings. Readers must read each poem and begin inductive reasoning to
understand what is written. In using this reasoning, only then can the poem be explained. There are
many different types of forms and a ballad is one of these poetic forms. It is usually made up of a
basic construction of quatrain stanzas. The lines contain rhyme, and generally tell a story that can be
compared to a song. In analyzing, Peter and John by Elinor Wylie, We Real Cool by Gwendolyn
Brooks, Riverbanks Blues by Sterling A. Brown and The Cherry tree Carol, author unknown,

Brown, Brown uses the typical quatrain stanza to create a song like poem one could imagine singing
while traveling down a river, Little Muddy, Big Muddy, Moreau and Osage, /Little Mary s, Big Mary

and git him weak (Strand and Boland 94). The words he chose roll off your tongue as they are spoken,
and are symbolic of the water as it moves. Each stanza grows more musical as the poem goes on, like
the start of a trip in a ferry on a river slow to start then smooth as it goes down.
Then there is the poem, The Cherry tree Carol, author unknown. This poem s story retells the
Christmas Journey to Bethlehem from Luke 2:4 5 through the death of Jesus (Leith). This ballad uses
the typical quatrain stanza to create this story. Each stanza takes us through the walk of Christ, from
birth to death using only Mary and Joseph s names in each stanza. Then Mary took her Babe/And sat

quatrain stanzas help to summarize specific moments in the life of Jesus Christ without going into a

Social Medi A Big Part Of The Internet Industry
Social media Improvements have been made in technology causing the number of users on social

Hip Hop Every year from 1985 to 2013 the top 5 hip hop/rap songs combined to make thirty one

This type of music has a negative influence on kids, and it steers them in the completely wrong
direction. This is not the kind of music that should be promoted due to the things it says, and the views
it has on people based on gender or race. Children especially should not listen to hip hop because it
teaches them that it s cool and okay to say bad words and teaches them that they should judge people
and put down the ones that are different.. By looking at hip hop and the impact it has on people one

These are lyrics from This Is Why I m Hot by MIMS. This type of profanity is completely
inappropriate for multiple reasons. First of all, it uses bad language. Second, it is promoting sexual
content, and it is also is disrespecting black people and women. All of this is taking place at a bar
where there is drugs and alcohol. These things are very dangerous because you aren t thinking straight
and they are bad for your body. This not a good thing for kids to listen to because then they will think
doing these things is alright and it s not. An article by Michael Dyson explains hip hop as adolescent
ghetto minstrelsy . Young children and teens that play this music often will soon start doing things like
drinking, and doing drugs without even thinking it s not right. The songs are what is making people
think all of those things are allowed. Some may believe that the music embraces and understands the
struggle of life, that may be true but the way that it expresses those thoughts and feelings is not a good
way of going about it. They say that drugs are an amazing reliever of the problems in their life, not a
path that should be followed. Outside of the negative views on people and negative actions displayed

Issue 4: Homeowner s Coverage
Your current homeowner s coverage is adequate from a baseline perspective, but I believe some minor
improvements can be made to your coverage. With the cash flow we currently have available, minor
tweaks can be made to your policy to ensure that you are covered under the most strenuous of
circumstances and can have peace of mind regarding your home.
Recommendation A: My first is that you increase your base coverage by $10,000; this will cover you
for the full value of your home as you currently are covered for only 96% of its value.
Advantages:
The advantage of increasing your homeowner s coverage on your dwelling from $310,000 to
$320,000 is that you will receive the full replacement cost of your home in the event of a catastrophe.
Increasing your homeowner s coverage is also quite cheap; the additional cost is only $35 per year.
Disadvantages:
The additional homeowner s coverage is cheap, but modest in its advantages. The $35 you are
spending on these could easily go elsewhere.
Recommendation B: My second recommendation is you take an inventory of your personal property.
Advantages:
A personal property inventory will ensure you know the value of your possessions in the event of a
catastrophe.
Appraisals of high value items such as your jewelry, wedding ring, antiques, and guns will be
beneficial not only for your personal property inventory but also for your

To Kill A Mockingbird Compare And Contrast Essay
n To Kill a Mockingbird, children live in an inventive world where mysteries abound but little exists
to actually cause them harm. Scout and Jem spend much of their time inventing stories about their
reclusive neighbor Boo Radley, gleefully scaring themselves before rushing to the secure, calming
presence of their father, Atticus. As the novel progresses, however, the imaginary threat that Boo
Radley poses pales in comparison to the real dangers Jem and Scout encounter in the adult world. The
siblings recognition of the difference between the two pushes them out of childhood and toward
maturity and as they make that transition, Boo Radley, their childhood bogeyman, helps serve as the
link between their past and their present. The games and stories Jem and Scout create around Boo
Radley depict him as a source of violence and danger. However, though these inventions seem
designed to prove the children s braveness and maturity, they paradoxically prove that Jem, Scout, and
their friend Dill fundamentally remain children. Their stories are gruesome, and the thrill of their
games such as touching the side of Boo s house comes from the danger they imagine they would face
if Boo were to catch them. However, the children are able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Language Can Help Your Child Learn Sight Words

How to Use Sign Language to Help Your Child Learn Sight Words
Sign language has many beneficial uses for young children. Not only are you teaching your child a
way to communicate other than talking, but you can also teach them other things. I have found that
using sign language to teach sight words very beneficial. This project is perfect for those parents who
have already started teaching their toddler sign language. Your toddler will first need to have the
alphabet basics of sign language down packed, before moving on to sight words. The first thing that
you will need to do is create a list of sight words. You can purchase sight word flashcards from your
local Walgreens store, or even online at Walgreens.com. Once you have your flashcards you can start
with the first word.
You can start by picking the first word that you will work with for the week. Show your child how to
sign that first word. When you show them the way to make the word with their hands you can also
show them the card. This should be your project of the first week. Stick with one word for at least a
few weeks. Remember you don t want to be in any hurry to teach your child each words. Allow them
to take their time and slowly learn their sign language sight words. Not only will you be helping them
get started on the way to reading, with their eyes, but they will also be learning how to better
communicate with their hands.
Helping them to learn to sign with their hands is a great way to keep learning

As I write, highly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying to kill me. They do not feel any

committing murder in private life. On the other hand, if one of them succeeds in blowing me to pieces
with a well placed bomb, he will never sleep any the worse for it. He is serving his country, which has

That is not to say that the future is fixed, merely that certain alternatives are possible and others not. A

National characteristics are not easy to pin down, and when pinned down they often turn out to be
trivialities or seem to have no connexion with one another. Spaniards are cruel to animals, Italians can
do nothing without making a deafening noise, the Chinese are addicted to gambling. Obviously such
things don t matter in themselves. Nevertheless, nothing is causeless, and even the fact that
Englishmen have bad teeth can tell something about the realities of English life. Here are a couple of
generalizations about England that would be accepted by almost all observers. One is that the English
are not gifted artistically. They are not as musical as the Germans or Italians, painting and sculpture
have never flourished in England as they have in France. Another is that, as Europeans go, the English
are not intellectual. They have a horror of abstract thought, they feel no need for any philosophy or

Texas Sex Education Essay
As a health science teacher, my educational philosophy is to provide my students with an inclusive,
evidence based approach in addressing sex education in my classroom. The state mandated teaching
standards promoting a biased, abstinence only program, however, do little to communicate reliable
and inclusive information about sexuality. Texas provisions and education codes relating to sex
education should sustain amendments that fully address the sexual health needs of every student,
regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation or sexual expression.
Sex Education in Texas
The topic of sex education in the United States has long been a controversial provision stemming from
varying notions and disagreements about what students should be taught regarding human sexuality.
More than two decades ago, Texas Legislature made the decision to promote abstinence over any other
method of sexuality education in Texas public schools. Revised in 1995, Chapter 28 of the Texas
Education Code (TEC §28.004) requires that health educators and health education curricula in Texas
public schools direct students to a standard of behavior in which abstinence from sexual activity
before marriage is the most effective way to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases a
provision still governing our health education classrooms today despite overwhelming research that
reveals a deep ineffectiveness of such programs.

Objective The objective of the experiment was to prepare a yield of tert butylchloride through a
unimolecular (SN1) nucleophilic substitution reaction. Procedure Part A Preparation of tert Butyl
Chloride A test tube was acquired, and 7 mL of concentrated HCl were added to this test tube through
a graduated cylinder, this was done in the fume hood in order to avoid any noxious fumes from the
sample, which were observed when pouring in the concentrated HCl. After adding the HCl, a glass
pipet was used to add 2.5 mL of tert butyl alcohol to the test tube. It was observed that the alcohol and
HCl separated into two layers distinct layers. The solution was mixed by using the pipet to take the
bottom layer and squirt it onto the top, this mixing process was performed for 15 minutes to allow the
solutions to mix well. Afterwards, the lower aqueous layer of the test tube was removed with the pipet;
it was imperative to remove as much of the lower layer as possible without removing too much from
the top layer. The solution was then washed with water by pouring 2.5 mL of water into the test tube,
letting it sit for about a minute and then removing the aqueous layer again, in order to help the

Slumdog Millionaire Film Analysis
Danny Boyle s film Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of Jamal, a boy from the slums of Mumbai,
India, who turns to his past experiences to help him defy odds in search of love. Jamal s past is told
through a series of flashbacks from his point of view which explain how he ended up in his position
on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? . This fictional drama, which provides a shocking reality to the
viewer due to the imagery, features violence but is essentially a love story. Ultimately, Jamal s success
in finding love and riches is a result of his grueling past experiences growing up in a world of
immense poverty where he learns the value of acquiring knowledge from unexpected places teaching
us everything happens for a reason and we all have our own fate. The cultural aspects of this film
specific to India are what makes its message so powerful. Setting plays a large role in the development
of the characters. The striking contrast between the slums of India and the Taj Mahal help the audience
understand the effect of Jamal s background on his values and skills. In India, the majority of those
born into poverty do not grow out of it, but become immersed in it and turn to a world of violence, but
Jamal does not fall into this category. Although this is a western production, India s film industry,
Bollywood, is referenced. The epilogue of the film features Jamal, Latika, and many others dancing in
the traditional Indian style to the catchy, upbeat song Jai Ho which means Victory is yours. The last
scene of the movie ends with Jamal and Latika being reunited and exchanging a kiss, suggesting to the
viewer they will have their happily ever after, because it was their destiny . With the release of this
film, much of India was offended because they felt they were being belittled. The controversial term
Slumdog, located in the title of the film, refers to how impoverished children are treated by the rest of
society, not suggesting they are lower because of their background. India also thinks their growing
economic success is being overshadowed by the highlight on their impoverished areas. Jamal and
Salim are constantly shown running from authority throughout their childhood. They are surrounded
by vulnerability

  • 6. Adversity Horace Quote Analysis Quite often you hear that we do not grow without failure; that failure is what teaches us a new skill and how to then succeed. I was not familiar with the quote, adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant, by Horace, however I think this quote is true. To me, this means that when someone has some kind of disadvantage, that person can use the challenge to his advantage through self reflection, determination, and hope. We think outside the box for how to overcome the challenge. We learn from the first failure and we regroup for the next approach. Failure teaches you how to define yourself rather than how others define you. All four of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is well known for his rejection of the inductivist viewpoint of the scientific method, in which one uses observation to propose a law to generalize an observed pattern, and later confirm that law through more observation. Popper states that induction cannot be logically justified (Popper 14). Inductivism relies on the process of inductive reasoning which is a logical process in which multiple premises, all thought to be true and found to be true most of the time, are combined to obtain a conclusion and in many cases formulate a law or theory. Popper rejected the inductivist viewpoint in favor of a theory called empirical falsification which holds that a theory can never be proven, but it can be falsified, and therefore it can and needs to be scrutinized through experimentation. In his work Conjectures and Refutations, Popper discussed several aspects of induction including the topics of conjectures (opinions or conclusions formed on the basis of incomplete information) or tentative theories and refutations (ways to refute an argument, opinion, testimony, doctrine, or theory, through contradicting evidence) or the acts of disproving arguments through counterexamples (Oxford). Popper opines that a significant problem with the scientific method is that scientists get so caught up in evidence that supports a specific conjecture that they either 1) fail to consider ... • 10. The Core Framework Of Paternalistic Leadership Style Let s now turn our attention to the core elements of paternalistic leadership. In this section, we will explore the core framework of paternalistic leadership style, before analysing two core theories of motivation that drive the framework. At the end, we ll also explore the two separate strains of paternalistic framework: benevolent and exploitative models. The core framework When it comes to leadership, a few core elements guide the way in which different leadership styles organise and manifest. These are: The decision making power Who has the power to decide? The legitimacy of rule Where does the power come from? Paternalistic framework is built around the authoritative idea that the leader is the person with the power to decide and his legitimacy comes from his or her expertise. The leader has the final say in making decisions and consultation is not required, as the leader is expected to make choices that benefit the subordinates. The subordinates are treated as an extended family and in a sense have a more partner like relationship with the leader than in autocratic model, for example. The leader puts the wellbeing of the subordinates at the centre of decision making and tries to ensure people are treated fairly. Nonetheless, the power ultimately lies in the hands of the leader. Furthermore, the power the rule comes from the leader s position and the idea that he or she is the most capable of making the decisions. The legitimacy of rule relies on loyalty ... An Evolutionary Ethical Theory of Social Risks and Opportunities ABSTRACT: Social standards guide us in what to do and what to refrain from doing. But can social moral or legal standards be trusted? This paper presents an evolutionary ethical theory that generates trustworthy ethical norms. Each norm is assigned a demonstrable risk, called an ethical risk, that depends on both human behavior and danger to the survival of society. The assigned risk is minimal if and only if everybody obeys the norm. The higher the risk assigned to a norm, the higher the norm s rank (an empirical quantity depending on the evolutionary status of society). An ordered finite set of ethical risks and ethical norms allows the settlement of ethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence in the western world tendencies to violence are rising, corruption [iwd, p.8] is on the increase. And in Germany, for example, a third of all marriages break up, the birth rate is low, the abortion rate is high and every third household consists of a single person [Handelsblatt]. Is the West, as East Asian critics smugly say, a group of newly decaying countries [Wickert, p.19]? If this reproach is right, the decay of a specific society should be avoided by appropriate behaviour patterns. Some of them may be identified already by a thought experiment: If violence, theft or deception are the rule, people and their society go to ruin; the situation is stabilised when everyone helps each other, for then violence or deception are no longer means of survival. Ethics as a theory of rightful dealings involves empirical research on behaviourally conditioned ethical risks, which may depend on the technological level of a society. Each of these ethical risks jeopardizes the survival both of individual citizens and their society as a whole. An ethical risk is a quantity with a certain magnitude; with each ethical risk goes an ethical norm which is the condition for the minimisation of that particular risk. Unfortunately risks are seldom independent from one another. So only the simultaneous observance of various ethical norms minimises all essential collective and individual survival risks. After reviewing this study, we selected the IgG P1 A2 monoclonal antibody, specific to the o antigen, as an appropriate vector to standardize the vibriocidal through standard killing of V. cholerae in a vibriocidal assay. IgG P1 A2 was chosen due to its low EC50 (ng/mL) concentration relative to the other monoclonal antibodies (Fig. 1A B). By using a standard concentration of monoclonal antibody run alongside serum in a vibriocidal assay, cross lab differences in serum titer can be adjusted for by relative differences in IgG P1 A2 antibody concentrations at the fifty percent growth inhibition point of the bacteria. The Presentation Of Abdominal Pain A COMMON PRESENTATION IN AN UNCOMMON DISEASE; RIGHT UPPER QUADRANT PAIN INTRODUCTION The presentation of abdominal pain is a common one, it is very non specific and can be challenging to diagnose. When abdominal pain is localized to the right upper quadrant (RUQ), a broad range of differentials come to mind in relation to the underlying organs in that region. These differentials are narrowed down based on other parts of the history like the onset and duration of the pain, age, sex, associated symptoms like fever, nausea, vomiting etc, and comorbid conditions. Factors such as gender, ethnicity, family and even social status are at birth, groups that we belong to, yet cannot choose, and many of these endure throughout life. Although family, religious beliefs and even social status can be altered in later life, all of these groups are ones that are integral to an individual s identity and in fact add it in life. However, as a child their influence is perhaps even more important as in these formative years one s gender, culture, family and even religion actively create individual identity. As we grow as develop as individuals we begin to make choices about where we want to find belonging. This can be seen in choices as minor as belonging to a football club or friendship group, to more life altering choices such as being a member of a political party or protest group such as Green peace. As individuals make such choices they do not sacrifice their identities, but rather work to increase and from their ever changing sense of self. The seller would allege that there was a mistake in the advertisement and that, as advertisements are not offer, no contract was formed. This is a mistake, as the facts demonstrate; New Jersey Vehicle Code § 4251 trumps the common law practices of offers and mistakes. Lonergan v. Scolnick tells us that advertisements are simply manifestations of willingness to enter into a bargain, but are not meant to justify another person in understanding that his assent to that bargain is invited and will conclude it, as offers do (Restatement 2nd §24). Therefore, the advertisement is not considered to be an offer to sell the vehicle at the stated price. Under Common Law, ABC Motors would be able to refuse to sell the car at the mistaken price of $25,000. However, in New Jersey, advertisements for the sale of automobiles are governed by a statute, New Jersey Vehicle Code § 4251, stating, A dealer of automobiles in this state may not decline or refuse to sell an automobile to any person at an advertised price while the vehicle remains unsold, unless the advertisement states the advertised total price is good for only a specified period of time and that time has elapsed. Recommendation A: My first is that you increase your base coverage by $10,000; this will cover you for the full value of your home as you currently are covered for only 96% of its value. Increasing your homeowner s coverage is also quite cheap; the additional cost is only $35 per year. Disadvantages: The additional homeowner s coverage is cheap, but modest in its advantages. The siblings recognition of the difference between the two pushes them out of childhood and toward maturity and as they make that transition, Boo Radley, their childhood bogeyman, helps serve as the link between their past and their present. The games and stories Jem and Scout create around Boo Radley depict him as a source of violence and danger. However, though these inventions seem designed to prove the children s braveness and maturity, they paradoxically prove that Jem, Scout, and their friend Dill fundamentally remain children. Their stories are gruesome, and the thrill of their games such as touching the side of Boo s house comes from the danger they imagine they would face if Boo were to catch them. However, the children are able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fire at Miss Maudie s, Mrs. Dubose s grisly death, and the violence and unrest that trails in the wake of the Tom Robinson case introduce real misfortune and anxiety into their lives. For the first time, adults are frightened and sad along with the children, and therefore cannot be counted on to provide security or refuge. This project is perfect for those parents who have already started teaching their toddler sign language. Your toddler will first need to have the alphabet basics of sign language down packed, before moving on to sight words. The first thing that you will need to do is create a list of sight words. • 32. George Orwell George Orwell England Your England As I write, highly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying to kill me. They do not feel any enmity against me as an individual, nor I against them. They are only doing their duty , as the saying goes. Most of them, I have no doubt, are kind hearted lawabiding men who would never dream of committing murder in private life. On the other hand, if one of them succeeds in blowing me to pieces with a well placed bomb, he will never sleep any the worse for it. He is serving his country, which has the power to absolve him from evil. One cannot see the modern world as it is unless one recognizes the overwhelming strength of patriotism, national loyalty. That is not to say that the future is fixed, merely that certain alternatives are possible and others not. A seed may grow or not grow, but at any rate a turnip seed never grows into a parsnip. It is therefore of the deepest importance to try and determine what England is, before guessing what part England can play in the huge events that are happening. II National characteristics are not easy to pin down, and when pinned down they often turn out to be trivialities or seem to have no connexion with one another. Spaniards are cruel to animals, Italians can do nothing without making a deafening noise, the Chinese are addicted to gambling. Obviously such things don t matter in themselves. Nevertheless, nothing is causeless, and even the fact that Englishmen have bad teeth can tell something about the realities of English life. Here are a couple of generalizations about England that would be accepted by almost all observers. One is that the English are not gifted artistically. They are not as musical as the Germans or Italians, painting and sculpture have never flourished in England as they have in France. Another is that, as Europeans go, the English are not intellectual. They have a horror of abstract thought, they feel no need for any philosophy or systematic world view . Nor is this because they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Texas Sex Education Essay As a health science teacher, my educational philosophy is to provide my students with an inclusive, evidence based approach in addressing sex education in my classroom. The state mandated teaching standards promoting a biased, abstinence only program, however, do little to communicate reliable and inclusive information about sexuality. Texas provisions and education codes relating to sex education should sustain amendments that fully address the sexual health needs of every student, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation or sexual expression. Sex Education in Texas The topic of sex education in the United States has long been a controversial provision stemming from varying notions and disagreements about what students should be taught regarding human sexuality. More than two decades ago, Texas Legislature made the decision to promote abstinence over any other method of sexuality education in Texas public schools. Revised in 1995, Chapter 28 of the Texas Education Code (TEC §28.004) requires that health educators and health education curricula in Texas public schools direct students to a standard of behavior in which abstinence from sexual activity before marriage is the most effective way to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases a provision still governing our health education classrooms today despite overwhelming research that reveals a deep ineffectiveness of such programs. Without question, Texas commitment to the abstinence only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the time, England teemed with crime and disease, and people were enamored with the idea of the lovesick shepherds in rural settings. By tradition, the pastoral poem renounced corruption found in urban areas and returned the reader to the simplicity of nature. Objective The objective of the experiment was to prepare a yield of tert butylchloride through a unimolecular (SN1) nucleophilic substitution reaction. Procedure Part A Preparation of tert Butyl Chloride A test tube was acquired, and 7 mL of concentrated HCl were added to this test tube through a graduated cylinder, this was done in the fume hood in order to avoid any noxious fumes from the sample, which were observed when pouring in the concentrated HCl. After adding the HCl, a glass pipet was used to add 2.5 mL of tert butyl alcohol to the test tube. It was observed that the alcohol and HCl separated into two layers distinct layers. The solution was mixed by using the pipet to take the bottom layer and squirt it onto the top, this mixing process was performed for 15 minutes to allow the solutions to mix well. Afterwards, the lower aqueous layer of the test tube was removed with the pipet; it was imperative to remove as much of the lower layer as possible without removing too much from the top layer. The solution was then washed with water by pouring 2.5 mL of water into the test tube, letting it sit for about a minute and then removing the aqueous layer again, in order to help the mechanism for this process. Additionally, about 2.5 mL of sodium bicarbonate 5% were also added to he test tube, were allowed to sit for about a minute, and then removed once again; this was done in order to remove any HCl impurities from the solution. • 36. Slumdog Millionaire Film Analysis Danny Boyle s film Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of Jamal, a boy from the slums of Mumbai, India, who turns to his past experiences to help him defy odds in search of love. Jamal s past is told through a series of flashbacks from his point of view which explain how he ended up in his position on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? . This fictional drama, which provides a shocking reality to the viewer due to the imagery, features violence but is essentially a love story. Ultimately, Jamal s success in finding love and riches is a result of his grueling past experiences growing up in a world of immense poverty where he learns the value of acquiring knowledge from unexpected places teaching us everything happens for a reason and we all have our own fate. The cultural aspects of this film specific to India are what makes its message so powerful. Setting plays a large role in the development of the characters. The striking contrast between the slums of India and the Taj Mahal help the audience understand the effect of Jamal s background on his values and skills. In India, the majority of those born into poverty do not grow out of it, but become immersed in it and turn to a world of violence, but Jamal does not fall into this category. Although this is a western production, India s film industry, Bollywood, is referenced. The epilogue of the film features Jamal, Latika, and many others dancing in the traditional Indian style to the catchy, upbeat song Jai Ho which means Victory is yours. The last scene of the movie ends with Jamal and Latika being reunited and exchanging a kiss, suggesting to the viewer they will have their happily ever after, because it was their destiny . With the release of this film, much of India was offended because they felt they were being belittled. The controversial term Slumdog, located in the title of the film, refers to how impoverished children are treated by the rest of society, not suggesting they are lower because of their background. India also thinks their growing economic success is being overshadowed by the highlight on their impoverished areas. Jamal and Salim are constantly shown running from authority throughout their childhood. They are surrounded by vulnerability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through his writing, he depicts humans and animals clinging to things they are very familiar with. Eiseley illustrates how humans and animals tend to act in a similar manner by comparing the homeless men who find shelter in train stations with the scenario of the wasp that continuously revisits its hive for accommodation. This is evident in the manner in which both men and wasps die in their special areas. Eiseley depicts homeless men coming to die to the train station benches as similar to the death of wasps in the paper homes.
