The Ocean Research Paper
Since the Ocean is the largest biome in the world, the climate is from 40 degrees fahrenheit to more
than 100 degrees. The average temperature is 39 degrees fahrenheit, but it is much warmer near the
Equator where the sun rays can hit the ocean and make it warmer. The coldest is in the North and the
South Poles where the water is close to freezing, also known as glaciers, because sunlight isn t directly
hitting it with it s sun rays. The ocean can also be harsh, because of ocean currents. The ocean currents
create big hurricanes and typhoons. Although the climate can ve extreme it has little effect on life.
Most life forms have adapted to the ocean. Plants have also adapted to deep places where sunlight
doesn t reach. These life forms in the ocean have adapted, so the climate ... Show more content on

There are 5 main types of oceans: the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and the Southern ocean. The
Pacific ocean separate Asia from the Americas. The Pacific is the biggest ocean on Earth. The Atlantic
separate India from Africa. The Indian Ocean is the second largest ocean on Earth. The Arctic borders
the northern continents and enclose the far North including the North pole. The Arctic is the smallest
ocean in the world. The Southern ocean extends from the coast of Antarctica, and is declared a fifth
world ocean.
There are thousands and thousands of animals that live in the ocean. Some of them have gills to help
them breathe in the ocean, others, like mammals, have to go to the surface and breathe the air. For
example, fish and sharks have gills, and whales and dolphins have holes called a blowhole to breathe
the air. Here are some sea creatures that live in the ocean:
Fish Sharks, swordfish, tuna, clown fish, stingray, flatfish, eels, seahorse, etc.
Marine Mammals: Blue whales, Seals, walrus, dolphins, manatees, otters, etc.

The Debate on How Urban Middle-Class Identities Have Changed
The Debate on How Urban Middle Class Identities Have Changed
Materialism is the new karma . (Pavan K Varma, 2005)
Whilst numerical estimates of the Indian middle classes vary drastically, media images contribute to
their portrayal as affluent consumers participants in the IT boom in urban centres such as Hyderabad
and those revelling in India s status as a call centre superpower , particularly thought to symbolise a
new urban middle class. Varma s quote encapsulates the astonishing effect mass culture is thought to
have had upon Indian identity, especially those who occupy this middle ground of consumption. This
spectrum ranges from the lower middle class youth, such as the aforementioned call centre workers
whose parents often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance a shift in the values of the Malayali middle classes can be partially attributed to the
implementation of colonial legislation instigating the abolition of polygamous practices such as the
Marumakkathayam system of inheritance amongst Nayar communities, whilst increasing nationalist
sentiment contributed to the diminishing importance of unique matrilineal forms in Kerala in favour of
the patrilineal inheritance that prevailed as a middle class norm in the rest of India. (Arunima, 2003).
Note that I have made no distinction between Nayar castes and a Malayali middle class , necessitating
the clarification of two dimensions: reconciling class with the alternative hierarchical structure of
caste; and related to this how the concept of a middle class has changed over time. From this I will
discuss how shifting values in India have created an affirmatively dynamic middle class.
The Indian notion of caste is of something you are born into I am considered a Nayar because my

Relational Dialectics Theory Essay
Comparing relationships to unicycles seems strange or unlikely, however the constant strive for
balance against opposing forces is a perfect description for relational dialectics theory (Griffin, 2009).
Barbara Montgomery, an interpersonal communication scholar, describes riding a unicycle as a task of
contradicting forces, constantly pulling against each other in a tug of war motion. The best way to
control the wheel is by the constant changes in movement, adapting one way or the other, to maintain
control over the fall (Griffin). When Montgomery and Baxter first started researching interpersonal
relationships they were surprised by the feedback they discovered from their interviews (Griffin,
2009). They found multiple truths to a lot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They argue that these tendencies are common towards all relationships and are unavoidable (Griffin).
The core concept that stands out of relational dialectics theory is contradiction (Griffin, 2009). A
contradiction happens whenever you have two interdependent forces that mutually work against each
other (Griffin). This is continually happening in relationships because they are in a constant state of
flux. Relationships are constantly changing and there is no complete certainty. Baxter and
Montgomery give the example of contradiction as a game of tug of war created through interpersonal
conversations. Moreover, these theorists believe that contradictions are inevitable and can be used to
constructively enhance the quality of relationships (Griffin). When researching, Baxter came across
three reoccurring contradictions that come as a balancing act for relationships: integration separation,
stability change, and expression nonexpression (Griffin, 2009). There are two ways to experience
these dialectic contradictions, internally or externally. Internal dialectic refers to the contradictions
within the relationship, whereas external dialectic refers to contradictions between the couple and the
community (Griffin). Baxter and Montgomery regard the internal dialect for integration and separation
as a contradiction between connectedness and separateness (Griffin, 2009). As an individual a person
feels the need to be independent and

Essay about The Heroism of Minerva Mirabal Who was the...
How do the Mirabal sisters compare to colonial patriots? Both fought for freedom. Both risked their
lives to gain their freedom. And even though all of the Mirabal sisters were involved,
I believe that Minerva was the most courageous. She fought for her personal freedom, she fought for
the rights of women, and she even brought her own family into the rebellion to assist her in fighting
against tyranny.. Through this essay I will explain my overall opinion and show that
Minerva was the bravest and most devoted of the Mirabal sisters.
Minerva first began to show her bravery when she wanted to go to a boarding school. She was not
afraid of being away from home, even as a child. She wants to experience the world to free her mind

Trujillo saying that Minerva would make a nice conquest. She realizes that she has failed to persuade

Minerva slaps Trujillo without contemplating the consequences. This obviously angers Trujillo. The
Mirabals depart from the party to avoid any punishment. Over the next few days, the Mirabals attempt
to apologize for leaving the party earlier, but are eventually called in by Trujillo. Trujillo begins to
make small talk about his dice and of the Mirabals breaking the law and leaving the part early.
Minerva then raises a question about the dice and of her request to be allowed to go to law school.
Trujillo expands this when he states, I ll tell you what. I ll let you toss for the privilege. You win, you

1950s Credit Cards
The year was 1950 and people wanted to have a new and improved way to pay for things. In 1949,
Frank X McNamara went out to eat with some of his friends and had a bill quite large, so when he was
going to pay for the meal he forgot his wallet, in embarrassment he called his wife from the dinner to
bring his wallet. From that experience, he never wanted to have that happen again. So he invented a
card that could be used to buy things like shoes, clothes, large appliances and can even be used at
different locations like gas. So in the 1950s, people used credit to buy expensive things and thus the
credit card was born. The idea was simple but far too complex, get anything on your credit and you
could pay it later or at the end of the month, but with interest. The idea was a good one until people
did not pay for the bill later on. Some of the first cards were made out of cardboard or celluloid. The
cardboard did not last that long it was getting damaged really fast and could not be kept for at least a
month. It was hard to manage a cardboard in your wallet for several days and got soft and flimsy thry
didn t like it so they tried it with celluloid, this type of material was highly flammable even warmth
could set it on fire. That was better than having a piece of paper in your ... Show more content on

evolved from being a cardboard to cheap flammable plastic and now a card you can wear out. In the
end the credit card was invented by a man that couldn t pay his bill in a restaurant and thought of one
of the best thing that people nationwide could use and that forever changed the way we paid for

Melting Pot Vs Salad Bowl
Society has a stigma of having to put things into categories in order to have a better understanding and
approach to life. Due to this need to categorize, the concept of the salad bowl and the melting pot
emerged. These theories are approaches of how cultures are represented within a nation. The United
States is a nation made up of immigrants. Over generations these immigrants have decided to either
abandon their culture and assimilate to the American society or wear their heritage with pride and
embrace their values, therefore brings up the infamous debate whether the United States is a salad
bowl or a melting pot The melting pot can be described as a fusion of various religions, nationalities,
and ethnic groups into one distinct people. Also it can describe a society in which immigrants who
have different cultural backgrounds need to adapt to a new culture, and only one culture can be
accepted. Usually the racial and ethnic backgrounds almost disappear. This concept was coined by an
immigrant Israel Zangwill that encourages newcomers to assimilate into the American culture. The
other side of the approach is the salad bowl theory. The salad bowl can be described as a society where
different cultures are brought together (like salad ingredients), but do not form together into a
homogeneous culture. This means each culture keeps its own unique traditions and rituals and aren t
stripped by their differences. No piece of the salad is being thrown out, but more

Differences Between A Prayer For Owen Meany
A Prayer For Owen Meany vs. Simon Birch Simon Birch is a movie inspired by the book A Prayer for
Owen Meany written by John Irving. I say inspired because the overall plot of the movie is so
different from the book, that John Irving had to ask the director to change the names of the characters
and other characteristics of the story. Even though the movie is supposed to be somewhat different
from the book, the director was not able to portray many recurring themes of the novel that many
readers, including myself, enjoyed. Therefore, I believe that it is a good movie, but for the people that
have never read the book. Like I said before, there are major differences between these two. Some are
very visible; the names of the characters. There are others that even though are minor, they are
completely unnecessary. This minor differences are small details that we remember from the book,

In the book, the armadillo, the dressmaker s dummy, and the armless statue of Mary Magdalene were
very important. They represented how Owen s arms were God s instrument . In the movie, however,
the armadillo and the dummy are just there; they do not mean anything. The director did not include
the themes of the story that I enjoyed the most. Instead, they added events to the movie that never
happened in the book, and some of the events that occurred in the book, never occurred in the movie.
For instance, in the novel, Owen dies a lieutenant, and in the movie, he dies as a boy. Also, in the
movie, Simon speaks out loud during Mass and gets punished by the reverend. This never happened in
the novel. I liked that the movie shows how powerful Owen and John s friendship was; you could
really tell they cared about each other. I also enjoyed that they emphasized that Owen was the reason
why Johnny believed in God. Faith took a major role in the book, and this theme was also included in

Christian Truths in the Screwtape Lettters by C.S. Lewis...
The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis is a book of thirty one letters in which a retired, senior demon
named Screwtape coaches his newly educated nephew, Wormwood. Wormwood is quite troubled
when it comes to tempting his patient. Nevertheless, he need not fear because faithful uncle Screwtape
has offered his services. A unique character featured in the letters is, The Enemy. This character refers
to God, the natural enemy of Satan. Of course Satan is referred to as Our Lord. In the letters, and
Wormwood and Screwtape try their very best to please Satan and bring him glory. Although the book
is written from the demons perspective, Lewis naturally uses it to highlight important truths of the
Christian faith. The patient or the human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
...Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring but still intending to do
our enemies will, looks round a universe from which every trace of him seems to have vanished, and
ask why he has been forsaken and still obeys (Lewis, 39). What truths are you looking at if you have
never come to know that truths of the Christian faith? Clearly the entire story s focal point is demonic,
literally. Joanie Riche writes, It has helped me gain an understanding of how he forces of darkness try
to undermine joy and truth (Riche). That is exactly what the dangerous duo is trying to prove. That
they can push this poor human to such limits that he/she will forget that God ever played a positive
factor in their lives. These are real things that happen to people. Once devout believers suffer a trial
then suddenly and all together, the mere thought of the gospel is ridiculous. It is a harrowing truth.
Many people are raised to be unbelievers. It does not matter to these devils, they are going to hell
either way. In contrast, the Enemy holds a prominent position in the novel whether evident to most or
not. No temptation has overcome you that is not common to man, God is faithful, and He will not let
you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape that
you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13). Screwtape often tells that the Enemy

Male Deception In Much Ado About Nothing
Much Ado About Nothing is a study of male deception, taking varying forms of their deceit, betrayal
and treachery. So the phrase, Men were deceivers ever, proves to be a very accurate representation of
Much Ado About Nothing. Moreover, characters such as Don John, Borachio and even Don Pedro and
Claudio prove Balthasar s phrase to ring true, through their respective roles and intentional actions in
the play. Don John, who is notably the main antagonist, is a stagnant portrayal of Balthasar s quote.
Not only does he spend his every waking moment stirring trouble, but most importantly he takes
satisfaction in it. He contingently makes it his mission and purpose to reign havoc, and to deceive
characters of another s false wrongdoing. For reference,

Secularism In Australia Essay
The increase in pluralism and materialism within the world, alongside the societies pursuit of
individualism and dissatisfaction with traditional religions gave rise to the formation of secularism.
(Woodhead, 2016) Secularism involves two theorems. The first being the strict separation of the
church and state and the second is the equality before the law provided to all different religions and
beliefs (National Secular Society, 2016). This trend is most evident through the significant increase in
numbers of the Australian population in the no religion category from 0.3% in 1947 to 0.8% in 1966
and to 16.6% by 1996. By 2006, it had risen to 18.7% and by 2011 it increased to 22.30%. (NSW
Government, Department of education, 2015) (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2013)

Ecumenical movements were formed as an institutional response in order to enhance this pursuit of
peace and understanding, and as a mutual Christian reaction to modernity. This is due to the different
reactions within each sect towards secularism for example, Conservative Roman Catholicism and
Orthodoxy were the most resistant, liberalism were the most co operative, Evangelicalism and
Charismatic Christianity both opposed some aspects of modernity whilst accommodated others.
(Woodhead, 2016) Therefore, ecumenism was a result in settling the uprising issues. For instance, the
Uniting Church of Australia was established on the 22nd of June 1977, where congregations of the
Methodist church of Australasia, the Presbyterian church of Australia and the congregational union of
Australia came together under the basis of union. (Uniting Church of Australia,

Explain How Human Geography And Physical Geography
How human geography and physical geography overlap The influence of natural environment of
human activity are very huge. First of all, we have terrains. The influence of terrains on rural tribes is
very apparent. Rivers in plain area is less, and the terrain is complete, open and flat. So the shape of
the village assumes the circular or irregular polygon and more concentrated. However, in river less
area, villages along the river or valley stretching and villages scattered and quite small. Second , the
water. Villages are generally close to the water. In the water supply adequate areas, Village is
concentrated and have large scale. In water supply scarce areas, the village is fragmented and
smaller. In dry and desert areas, village is distributed in the area rich in oasis or groundwater.
The third one is climate. If area rich in precipitation, most of the roof are inclined. This is in favour for
the rain come down. And most of the plants are very good live in the more water areas. So people
usually use bamboo to build their house. Because of the rain is very often, the ground and the air are
very damply. So people s houses usually impending. The less rainfall area home usually use flat roof.
So people usually use earth and rocks to build their house.
The fourth one is temperature. When the areas in the high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The environment we found ourselves in was ever changing and required all employees to be flexible
and work co operatively. It was particularly important in my role as Team Leader to understand and
demonstrate the linkages between the Departments work areas and incorporate them into our planning
and decision making. This was most evident in the new Integrity Policy Framework that related
directly with my Division and the greater agency. During the initial stages of this policy taking effect
it was integral my team and the greater Employment Suitability team understood our role in
implementing the policy. I utilised my team members expertise in their ability to effectively
communicate to stakeholders the new requirements, including the new Employment Suitability
Clearance (ESC), which is designed to provide assurance to the community that there is minimal risks
associated with individuals or their circumstances which may cast doubt on their ability to support the
agency and maintaining the Departments commitment to integrity and security of Australia s borders.
The new policy also stipulated that anyone working for the Department had to hold a minimum
Baseline level security clearance. This was a huge change for my team as it meant that more then 7000

Shrek Argumentative Essay
Shrek is the hero of my story. At the beginning of the story he is located at his home. He lives there
alone and he doesn t want any company, at all. Alot of other animals come to his home invading his
privacy and that is where he will receive a call to adventure. The call to adventure was going to see
Lord Farquaad. Lord Farquaad is the person that the animals were trying to escape from, and that s
why they went to Shrek s home.
He accepts the call to adventure immediately, because he wanted to get all the other animals to leave.
That s is also what motivated him to accept the call. Donkey helps him on his journey, because he
knew where Lord Farquaad was located and shrek didn t. Shrek didn t want Donkey to show him the
way. Shrek didn t like Donkey because he couldn t be quiet. None of the other animals wanted to tell
him where Lord Farquaad was because they were scared.

exploded into a global community of over 300 million active users. An amazing 70 million photos and
videos a day are now shared on Instagram by both consumers and brands.
With that many users and activity it not surprising that Instagram is been used daily by savvy
marketers to build brand awareness and drive targeted traffic to their websites.
Brand engagements on Instagram are actually higher than any other social platform including

creativity within the creative industries
This essay will discuss about the creativity within the creative industries and creative economy .
Creativity is the new word and the new value in economy. A class of creative people is replacing white
and blue collars changing the way the world used to define the society in the last centuries. Creative
industries can flourish in dense populated areas where are possible multiple and continued connections
between creative people. Although governments are trying to introduce the teaching of creativity in
the educational system to foster the growth of the creative economy, creativity is sometimes
suppressed due to the high risk of the investments that creative industries requires.

More deeply, the whole idea of creative industries describes the convergence of the creative arts
(represented by the individual talent) with the cultural industries (represented by mass scale), linking
them in the new context of the media technologies. Moreover in the creative industries the individual
creative worker is simultaneously involved with large creative enterprises. Often these corporates are
also a mix of public and private partnership. Indeed government agencies and universities are involved
in the growth of some of the biggest creative clusters, such as the Silicon Valley and the creative
industries of London.
According to Howkins and Florida, creative industries can flourish in dense populated areas, like big
cities, where people are free to share ideas. Howkins takes Hollywood as an early example of a
creative city, where, in the late 1920s, people from all over the world moved to take part to the growth

My Beauty Of Life
As I walked into freshman year I was by no means expecting to lose connection with myself on the
way. I recall walking home after long days at school, absorbing my surroundings. Breathing in the
sweet air as the calm breeze hit my face. Thinking to myself that this walk home was the only time I
have anymore to just think and be myself. See I m the type of person to go outside spending hours
sitting, doing absolutely nothing. Just to assimilate the beauty of life. Time, space, me, my spirit, and
my thoughts. At this moment there is no stress about the demand of getting excessive amounts of work

I am not saying going to school is a bad thing, but it shouldn t be organized in a way of programming
children. Disconnecting them from themselves; pulling them apart like string cheese. Without peace
within, you cannot accomplish peace outside. Gandhi once said, If we want to reach real peace in this
world, we should start educating children. When he says this I don t envision he means a classroom
full of innocent children being programmed with math, reading, writing and the sciences. How many
students are actually going to benefit from knowing how to transform a parabola? Yes, those things are
important. However, a child s mental health overrules by far. When I read that quote I see a classroom
full of children playing, having fun, and learning to discover themselves through making friendships.
How can a child genuinely learn anything about themselves and the earth they walk on if their little
heads are constantly being crammed full of academics? They can t, and this system is twisted.
Through my experience, I would say high school is most guilty of this corrupt system. Although, you
can begin to watch it arise starting in elementary school. As I move my way up the ladder into
community college, I feel like I m being allowed to slowly breathe again. Although not yet entirely,
the feeling of being trapped is fading away. Hopefully, my journey will continue to present this
freedom. Going to a larger 4 year university or college is not in my main interest because I

Implementing Physical Security As An Access Control Plan
Implementing physical security as an access control plan takes a great effort of planning. Physical
security is the protection and controlled access of personnel, the environment they operate in, which
includes the hardware and what it contains, as well as the rooms and buildings they are located in.
Physical security has three indispensable parts: access to control, observation, and testing. Obstacles
should be set for potential aggressors and physical areas should be bolstered against anything causing
delays, attacks or natural disasters. Such measures can include proper fencing, locks, control access
cards, biometrics that control systems and fire proofing structures. Physical areas should be checked
using observation cameras and for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A clear and concise plan is needed, which will help lessen potential threats. The foundation of
biometric sensors, for instance, iris inspecting or one of a kind finger impression affirmation, can
make even the most formidable intruder think twice about gaining unauthorized access. Now and
again, all that is relied upon to decide the issue is an instrument to give enough time to contact the
authorities. In any case, access control should consist of physical security as well as information
security (Ricardo, 2015).
Consideration should be given to shutting off access to portable workstations, desktops, and servers.
There is great risk for a potential insider threat, such as personnel leaving the workplace undetected
with a portable device tucked under a clothing item. Such circumstances happen extremely often and
more organizations are being compromised. One conceivable situation to fix security is to utilize the
terminal server and a bootable Linux conveyance. Likewise avoided are DHCP (Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol), anticipating issues with spyware, malware, or infections (Ricardo, 2015).
Security Controls Physical security manages and protects assets as regulatory, specialized, what s
more, physical controls. Control frameworks, interruption discovery frameworks, and evaluating
frameworks are cases of specialized controls. A few examples of regulatory controls are site area,
office configuration,

Summary Of The Children s Generation By Margaret Sanger
Changing The Future Generation
Margaret Sanger is a birth control activist, sex educator, writer, and nurse. Sanger gave a famous
speech on March 30th, 1925 titled The Children s Era which is part of the Sixth International Neo
Malthusian and Birth Control Conference. It took place at a public meeting in Scottish Rite Hall in
New York. She believes that the twentieth century should be the era of the child where the current
generation should welcome children into a healthy and happy world. She believes that parents should
be educated through a series of tests to help them understand and realise what it is like to be a parent
and what all it takes. I believe this is a good speech because Sanger convy s her readers by the use of
repetition, the use of an analogy, her use of facts, and credibility to other sources.
She begins her essay by repeating the same question asking the audience, What steps have been taken
towards making it the century of the child? and she answers the question by saying so far, very, very
few (1). Throughout her speech she continues to refer to the fact that little to nothing has been done
towards our future generation of children. This is effective in Sanger s speech because it motivates
those who haven t stepped up to change anything for our future. She stresses this meaning happy
children, happy women and happy men throughout her paper as well (3). This support her idea
because she believes that if we have happy children we will have happy parents with their children.
In the beginning of her speak she uses an analogy comparing gardening to raising children So if we
want to make this world a garden for children, we must first learn the lesson of the gardener (2). This
is a very intelligent way of connecting to her audience because she explains how in gardening You
have got yo give them space and the opportunity (if they are to lift their flowers to the sun), to strike
their roots deep in the soil (2). This is allowing Sanger s audience to understand what it is like to be a
parent. You need to give your children the chance to grow and learn in a clear and happy environment.
Then, she concludes her analogy saying You cannot have a garden if you let weeds overrun it (2). You

Examine and compare the ways in which Pat Barker in...
Examine and compare the ways in which Pat Barker in Regeneration and
Wilfred Owen in his poetry explore the nature of life in the trenches.
Pat Barker and Wilfred Owen are both successful writers in delivering an insight into trench life from
the perspective of a soldier, although in different ways. Owen, being a soldier himself, has had first
hand experience of trench life and describes the pity of war, in that war is a waste of young, innocent
lives, and the bitterness of the soldiers towards the people who do not have to fight. Whereas
Barker recreates trench life through the nightmares, hallucinations and memories of the soldiers.

Owen describes how the waiting for the inevitable keeps the soldiers awake as the night is silent and
this is worse than the noise of activity. All these soldiers have to do is wait and wonder what are we
doing here? But nothing happens. In the sixth stanza Owen refers to the ghosts drag home almost
suggesting that the soldiers are alone, not even their spirits can survive the emptiness of the trenches.
To begin with, the images in the poem appear to contrast with those in Regeneration as we see
Sassoon looking forward to sleeping in clean whit sheets, although we realise that he feels guilty that
he can enjoy this luxury and his comrades cannot. He says to Graves as he is seeing him off at the
station Dottyville is almost bearable knowing you don t have to be vomited on, this gives us an insight
into the physical well being of some of the soldiers.
After Graves has gone Sassoon hates everybody, giggling girls, portly middle aged men, women
whose eyes settled on his wound stripe like flies indicating his bitterness towards anybody that didn t
have to fight and especially towards people who appeared to have done well out of the war. This is the
same attitude displayed towards shirkers and pacifists. In regeneration when Mr. Prior comes to
Craiglockhart and find Billy unable to speak, he is convinced that his speech comes when it s
convenient and goes when it isn t

Relationship Between Empathy And Narcissism
Where did we make a wrong turn in our society regarding ethics? If students think that ethics and
codes don t apply to them, what structure do they have to base any decisions they will make in the
future? The attributes theme (specifically the focus on the person, self absorption, and the role of
narcissism and self centeredness played in ethics violations) was the most influential aspect of this
research, in my opinion. It expanded my knowledge base on the lack of ethical thinking that possibly
exists in Generation Y, students born in the 80s and 90s. I have three Generation Y children and it does
appear that they all struggle with ethical decision making. It s not because they were not exposed to
sound moral character modeled around the house. Was the lack of parental involvement while growing
up? I don t think so. I ve seen my own kids go off the deep end after conducting themselves
unethically. They were brought up with loving and kind parents who provided more than they could

Essay on Management Theories
After the end of the Industrial Revolution, large corporations were beginning to grow in size and
power in order to satisfy what seemed the endless demands for new goods and services. As
corporations and labor forces grew, there was a need to develop a more systematic study of
organization and management, known as management theory, the significant being Frederick Taylor s
Principles of Scientific Management which involved the development of training workers through
special incentives and compensation (Boone p.33). In general, early management scientists tended to
believe that there was a single way to organize companies and manage employees. By the beginning
of the 20th century, there were initial attempts for launching a systematic and ... Show more content

Herzberg concluded that extrinsic rewards, or hygiene factors, could never create real work
motivation. The growth or motivational factors in a firm include achievement, recognition,
responsibility, and advancement while the dissatisfaction avoidance or hygiene factors consists of
extrinsic factors such as administration, supervision, interpersonal relationships, working conditions
and salary (Boone p.176). Thus, in attempting to enrich an employee s job, it was necessary for
management to reward and recognize personal contribution rather than just giving the employee the
opportunity to growth. This school of thought is known as vertical loading was at the time thought of
to be more rewarding to employees and increase productivity rather than horizontal loading, which did
not concentrate on employees motivational factors.
Unlike Herzberg, who focused on employee recognition and rewards, Peter F. Drucker, a more recent
influential figure in management theory, argued that in modern times, employees in a firm should be
given the opportunity to grow and contribute to management and the decision making process. In his
article, Management s New Paradigms, Drucker asserts that there are many assumptions about
management that are out of date, including the ‘right way to manage people. Every worker place

Public Challenges Of The Australian Public Faces
Amidst the information age, the Australian public faces perhaps the defining societal challenge of the
21st Century, the unprecedented governmental surveillance of metadata. Metadata surveillance refers
to the recent legislation passed in March of this year, which sees compulsory retention of information
by Australian telecommunication corporations, the individualised communications data of each
Australian citizen.
The recent legislation passed encompass an unprecedented surveillance of the masses, which will
result in the creation of a perpetual surveillance state based purely on broad assumptions about
potential terrorists activities. Concerns have arisen due to the proposals that encompass the
compulsory data retention of all Australians telecommunication networks, which entrenches passive
mass surveillance under the undefined concept of metadata. This mandatory retention of metadata for
up to two years allows governmental organisations unprecedented access into the online activity of all
Australians, a subversion of the legal presumption of innocence by treating all individuals as potential
suspects through pre criminal investigation tactics. As a citizen, I believe this policy embodies the
most fundamental violations of human privacy. It is without doubt this bill has obscured our rights
behind a discourse of technological subjectivity, allowing for the creation of a framework within
which rules can be adjusted and expanded through ministerial regulations, the

Biography Of Giovanni Boccaccio s Magnum Opus The...
There made its appearance that deadly pestilence, which, whether disseminated by the influences of
the celestial bodies, or sent upon us mortals by God in His just wrath by way of retribution for our
iniquities, had its origin some years before in the East, whence, after destroying an innumerable
multitude of living beings, it had propagated itself without respite from place to place, and so,
calamitously, had spread abroad into the West .
These are the lines from Giovanni Boccaccio s magnum opus The Decameron , which consists of
various tales narrated by seven young women and three young men seeking refuge in a secluded villa
outside Florence to escape from one of the greatest catastrophies in human history. The Black Death .

The English Reformation occurs during the Renaissance era officially beginning with Henry VIII

Catholicism and Protestantism due to the reigns of Henry s legitimate children: Edward VI, Mary I,
and Elizabeth I. In 1485, Henry VII became the King of England when he killed King Richard III in

Arthur married at the age of nine to Catherine Aragon, the Spanish Princess, who was fourteen at the

natural causes. Henry VIII was next in line to the throne and became King. When he was fourteen, he
wanted to marry his brother s widow, Catherine, who was seven years older than him. He bribed the
Pope to allow that marriage to his brother s widow. Once the marriage was approved, Henry decided
he needed an heir to the throne. At the time, women were not rulers of countries and therefore they did
not inherit the throne. Catherine had two boys, but both of them died either within seven days or was
stillborn. She ended up having one surviving child, a girl named Mary. As days went by, Catherine
was getting older and still did not produce an heir to the throne. Henry soon became more attracted to

Problems regarding the managing and developing of Hogsmeadow Garden Centre
Question #3:
Summarize the problems faced by Don Dursley in managing and developing his centre.
There are a plethora of setbacks being faced by Don Dursley in the development of his garden centre.
Perhaps the most evident one is the problem of inventory management. Dursley insists that the
weather is impossible to predict and plays a major role in determining inventory. The problem if
determining adequate staffing is another obvious problem of Dursley. Even though there are 12 staff
members working at the restaurant at lunch time, there are still long lines to buy food. Outside of the
restaurant, Dursley needs the right mix of workers to respond to fluctuations in demand. The seating at
Honeydukes is not ample to serve the amount of customers dining at the restaurant. The costs incurred
in running the garden centre have escalated and have exceeded the revenue generated from its
operations. Based on the assumption that public transportation is not allowed on the premises,
Hogsmeadow is losing customers who do not have private means of transportation.

Summary Of The Overcoat By Nikolai Gogol
In a time of large, corrupt, and ineffective bureaucracy, Nikolai Gogol looks provide a humorous
perspective on life in Tsarist Russia. Through both The Nose and The Overcoat, Gogol reveals his true
nature as a comical humorist with the intention of giving readers a laugh but also of mocking human
vanity. From the very beginning of The Overcoat, it becomes clear the story has a comedic nature.
While explaining to the reader the touchiness of departments in Russia, Gogol gives the district police
chief as an example: He plainly demonstrated that all the imperial institutions were going to the dogs,
and that the Czar s sacred name was being taken in vain; and in proof he appended to the complain a
romance, in which the district chief of police is made to appear about once in every ten pages, and
sometimes in a downright drunken condition (Gogol 1). The scenario Gogol describes is one of
absurdity. How could someone get so worked up over a book that has no intent of offending them? No
normal person would ever become so hysterical over a piece of literature that indirectly offends them.
Claiming that the whole political system of Russia is being destroyed and that royalty had been
disgraced because of a simple character in a book that resembles oneself is preposterous. To a rational
mind, the police chief s over emotional reaction is clearly insane, as a normal person does not have the
narcissism to take minute details personally. This laughable situation

Quantum Leap Essay
A Quantum Leap Computational Design
After encountering hunter age for several million years, the agricultural age for several thousand
years, the Industrial Age for couple of centuries and the Information Age only for few decades, lately
we re on the cusp of another subsequent era as a species, the Augmented age. In this new era, our
innate human potential is ought to be augmented by computational designs that shall connects us to

Although our vision was vaporous during 1980 to 2000, in a period of deceptive growth information

Ancient wisdom for Modern Ignorance ... a concrete jungle destroys the human spirit.
We need the greenery of nature to lift our spirits. (Yew, 2015)
Our over excessive usage of technology has physically departed us from nature but a study of
windowed and windowless offices by Heerwagen and Orians (1986) found that people in windowless
spaces used twice as many nature elements (posters and photos especially) to decorate their office
walls than those who had views to natural areas outdoors. This shows man s inexplicable

The Evolution Of Polar Bears
Only from the literal definition, the evolution is a process which something passes by degrees to a
different stage, especially a more advanced or mature stage. For instance, in the ancient time, it is
because the dinosaurs had already deracinated so that other animals who survived evolve in order to
comfort to the times. Among these animals, apes are a typical example of evolution as they gradually
develop to become todays human. Nonetheless, at present, it seems that it is not exceedingly easy to
feel the existence of the phenomena of evolution. Actually, it exists in many places, such as Arctic
Polar, Alaska, and Canada etc. In Canada and Alaska, numerous grolars were founded, which are the
descendants of polar bear and grizzly bears, and this new specie is the result of a type of biology
evolution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously, no. According to scientist analysis, although male polar bears do not generally creep into
grizzly habitats , grizzly males roam to establish territory and come in contact with receptive female

amount of pizziles and grizzlies increase, and the number of pure polar bears declines. It means that
polar bears are getting the short end of the stick in this relationship, and like Geoff York said, not
gaining any genetic diversity. Furthermore, except the melting of the ice, global warming also boosts
the range of activity of grizzly bears for crossbreeding with polar

The average temperature is 39 degrees fahrenheit, but it is much warmer near the Equator where the sun rays can hit the ocean and make it warmer. The coldest is in the North and the South Poles where the water is close to freezing, also known as glaciers, because sunlight isn t directly hitting it with it s sun rays. The ocean can also be harsh, because of ocean currents. The ocean currents create big hurricanes and typhoons. Although the climate can ve extreme it has little effect on life. For instance a shift in the values of the Malayali middle classes can be partially attributed to the implementation of colonial legislation instigating the abolition of polygamous practices such as the Marumakkathayam system of inheritance amongst Nayar communities, whilst increasing nationalist sentiment contributed to the diminishing importance of unique matrilineal forms in Kerala in favour of the patrilineal inheritance that prevailed as a middle class norm in the rest of India. (Arunima, 2003). Note that I have made no distinction between Nayar castes and a Malayali middle class , necessitating the clarification of two dimensions: reconciling class with the alternative hierarchical structure of caste; and related to this how the concept of a middle class has changed over time. Relational Dialectics Theory Essay Comparing relationships to unicycles seems strange or unlikely, however the constant strive for balance against opposing forces is a perfect description for relational dialectics theory (Griffin, 2009). Barbara Montgomery, an interpersonal communication scholar, describes riding a unicycle as a task of contradicting forces, constantly pulling against each other in a tug of war motion. The best way to control the wheel is by the constant changes in movement, adapting one way or the other, to maintain control over the fall (Griffin). When Montgomery and Baxter first started researching interpersonal relationships they were surprised by the feedback they discovered from their interviews (Griffin, 2009). They found multiple truths to a lot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They argue that these tendencies are common towards all relationships and are unavoidable (Griffin). The core concept that stands out of relational dialectics theory is contradiction (Griffin, 2009). A contradiction happens whenever you have two interdependent forces that mutually work against each other (Griffin). This is continually happening in relationships because they are in a constant state of flux. Relationships are constantly changing and there is no complete certainty. Baxter and Montgomery give the example of contradiction as a game of tug of war created through interpersonal conversations. Moreover, these theorists believe that contradictions are inevitable and can be used to constructively enhance the quality of relationships (Griffin). When researching, Baxter came across three reoccurring contradictions that come as a balancing act for relationships: integration separation, stability change, and expression nonexpression (Griffin, 2009). There are two ways to experience these dialectic contradictions, internally or externally. Internal dialectic refers to the contradictions within the relationship, whereas external dialectic refers to contradictions between the couple and the community (Griffin). Baxter and Montgomery regard the internal dialect for integration and separation as a contradiction between connectedness and separateness (Griffin, 2009). • 6. 1950s Credit Cards The year was 1950 and people wanted to have a new and improved way to pay for things. In 1949, Frank X McNamara went out to eat with some of his friends and had a bill quite large, so when he was going to pay for the meal he forgot his wallet, in embarrassment he called his wife from the dinner to bring his wallet. From that experience, he never wanted to have that happen again. So he invented a card that could be used to buy things like shoes, clothes, large appliances and can even be used at different locations like gas. So in the 1950s, people used credit to buy expensive things and thus the credit card was born. The idea was simple but far too complex, get anything on your credit and you could pay it later or at the end of the month, but with interest. The idea was a good one until people did not pay for the bill later on. Some of the first cards were made out of cardboard or celluloid. The cardboard did not last that long it was getting damaged really fast and could not be kept for at least a month. • 7. Melting Pot Vs Salad Bowl Society has a stigma of having to put things into categories in order to have a better understanding and approach to life. Due to this need to categorize, the concept of the salad bowl and the melting pot emerged. These theories are approaches of how cultures are represented within a nation. The United States is a nation made up of immigrants. Over generations these immigrants have decided to either abandon their culture and assimilate to the American society or wear their heritage with pride and embrace their values, therefore brings up the infamous debate whether the United States is a salad bowl or a melting pot The melting pot can be described as a fusion of various religions, nationalities, and ethnic groups into one distinct people. Also it can describe a society in which immigrants who have different cultural backgrounds need to adapt to a new culture, and only one culture can be accepted. Usually the racial and ethnic backgrounds almost disappear. This concept was coined by an immigrant Israel Zangwill that encourages newcomers to assimilate into the American culture. The other side of the approach is the salad bowl theory. The salad bowl can be described as a society where different cultures are brought together (like salad ingredients), but do not form together into a homogeneous culture. This means each culture keeps its own unique traditions and rituals and aren t stripped by their differences. No piece of the salad is being thrown out, but more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I say inspired because the overall plot of the movie is so different from the book, that John Irving had to ask the director to change the names of the characters and other characteristics of the story. Even though the movie is supposed to be somewhat different from the book, the director was not able to portray many recurring themes of the novel that many readers, including myself, enjoyed. Therefore, I believe that it is a good movie, but for the people that have never read the book. Like I said before, there are major differences between these two. Lewis is a book of thirty one letters in which a retired, senior demon named Screwtape coaches his newly educated nephew, Wormwood. Wormwood is quite troubled when it comes to tempting his patient. Nevertheless, he need not fear because faithful uncle Screwtape has offered his services. A unique character featured in the letters is, The Enemy. This character refers to God, the natural enemy of Satan. Of course Satan is referred to as Our Lord. What truths are you looking at if you have never come to know that truths of the Christian faith? Clearly the entire story s focal point is demonic, literally. Joanie Riche writes, It has helped me gain an understanding of how he forces of darkness try to undermine joy and truth (Riche). That is exactly what the dangerous duo is trying to prove. That they can push this poor human to such limits that he/she will forget that God ever played a positive factor in their lives. These are real things that happen to people. Once devout believers suffer a trial then suddenly and all together, the mere thought of the gospel is ridiculous. It is a harrowing truth. Many people are raised to be unbelievers. It does not matter to these devils, they are going to hell either way. In contrast, the Enemy holds a prominent position in the novel whether evident to most or not. No temptation has overcome you that is not common to man, God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape that you may be able to endure it. Secularism In Australia Essay The increase in pluralism and materialism within the world, alongside the societies pursuit of individualism and dissatisfaction with traditional religions gave rise to the formation of secularism. (Woodhead, 2016) Secularism involves two theorems. The first being the strict separation of the church and state and the second is the equality before the law provided to all different religions and beliefs (National Secular Society, 2016). This trend is most evident through the significant increase in numbers of the Australian population in the no religion category from 0.3% in 1947 to 0.8% in 1966 and to 16.6% by 1996. By 2006, it had risen to 18.7% and by 2011 it increased to 22.30%. There is great risk for a potential insider threat, such as personnel leaving the workplace undetected with a portable device tucked under a clothing item. Such circumstances happen extremely often and more organizations are being compromised. One conceivable situation to fix security is to utilize the terminal server and a bootable Linux conveyance. Likewise avoided are DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), anticipating issues with spyware, malware, or infections (Ricardo, 2015). Security Controls Physical security manages and protects assets as regulatory, specialized, what s more, physical controls. • 33. Summary Of The Children s Generation By Margaret Sanger Changing The Future Generation Margaret Sanger is a birth control activist, sex educator, writer, and nurse. Sanger gave a famous speech on March 30th, 1925 titled The Children s Era which is part of the Sixth International Neo Malthusian and Birth Control Conference. It took place at a public meeting in Scottish Rite Hall in New York. She believes that the twentieth century should be the era of the child where the current generation should welcome children into a healthy and happy world. She believes that parents should be educated through a series of tests to help them understand and realise what it is like to be a parent and what all it takes. I believe this is a good speech because Sanger convy s her readers by the use of repetition, the use of an analogy, her use of facts, and credibility to other sources. She begins her essay by repeating the same question asking the audience, What steps have been taken towards making it the century of the child? and she answers the question by saying so far, very, very few (1). Throughout her speech she continues to refer to the fact that little to nothing has been done towards our future generation of children. This is effective in Sanger s speech because it motivates those who haven t stepped up to change anything for our future. She stresses this meaning happy children, happy women and happy men throughout her paper as well (3). This support her idea because she believes that if we have happy children we will have happy parents with their children. In the beginning of her speak she uses an analogy comparing gardening to raising children So if we want to make this world a garden for children, we must first learn the lesson of the gardener (2). This is a very intelligent way of connecting to her audience because she explains how in gardening You have got yo give them space and the opportunity (if they are to lift their flowers to the sun), to strike their roots deep in the soil (2). This is allowing Sanger s audience to understand what it is like to be a parent. You need to give your children the chance to grow and learn in a clear and happy environment. Then, she concludes her analogy saying You cannot have a garden if you let weeds overrun it (2). You ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examine and compare the ways in which Pat Barker in Regeneration and Wilfred Owen in his poetry explore the nature of life in the trenches. Pat Barker and Wilfred Owen are both successful writers in delivering an insight into trench life from the perspective of a soldier, although in different ways. Owen, being a soldier himself, has had first hand experience of trench life and describes the pity of war, in that war is a waste of young, innocent lives, and the bitterness of the soldiers towards the people who do not have to fight. Whereas Barker recreates trench life through the nightmares, hallucinations and memories of the soldiers. Owen describes how the waiting for the inevitable keeps the soldiers awake as the night is silent and this is worse than the noise of activity. All these soldiers have to do is wait and wonder what are we doing here? But nothing happens. In the sixth stanza Owen refers to the ghosts drag home almost suggesting that the soldiers are alone, not even their spirits can survive the emptiness of the trenches. To begin with, the images in the poem appear to contrast with those in Regeneration as we see Sassoon looking forward to sleeping in clean whit sheets, although we realise that he feels guilty that he can enjoy this luxury and his comrades cannot. He says to Graves as he is seeing him off at the station Dottyville is almost bearable knowing you don t have to be vomited on, this gives us an insight into the physical well being of some of the soldiers. After Graves has gone Sassoon hates everybody, giggling girls, portly middle aged men, women whose eyes settled on his wound stripe like flies indicating his bitterness towards anybody that didn t have to fight and especially towards people who appeared to have done well out of the war. This is the same attitude displayed towards shirkers and pacifists. If students think that ethics and codes don t apply to them, what structure do they have to base any decisions they will make in the future? The attributes theme (specifically the focus on the person, self absorption, and the role of narcissism and self centeredness played in ethics violations) was the most influential aspect of this research, in my opinion. Essay on Management Theories After the end of the Industrial Revolution, large corporations were beginning to grow in size and power in order to satisfy what seemed the endless demands for new goods and services. As corporations and labor forces grew, there was a need to develop a more systematic study of organization and management, known as management theory, the significant being Frederick Taylor s Principles of Scientific Management which involved the development of training workers through special incentives and compensation (Boone p.33). In general, early management scientists tended to believe that there was a single way to organize companies and manage employees. Herzberg concluded that extrinsic rewards, or hygiene factors, could never create real work motivation. The growth or motivational factors in a firm include achievement, recognition, responsibility, and advancement while the dissatisfaction avoidance or hygiene factors consists of extrinsic factors such as administration, supervision, interpersonal relationships, working conditions and salary (Boone p.176). Thus, in attempting to enrich an employee s job, it was necessary for management to reward and recognize personal contribution rather than just giving the employee the opportunity to growth. This school of thought is known as vertical loading was at the time thought of to be more rewarding to employees and increase productivity rather than horizontal loading, which did not concentrate on employees motivational factors. Unlike Herzberg, who focused on employee recognition and rewards, Peter F. Drucker, a more recent influential figure in management theory, argued that in modern times, employees in a firm should be given the opportunity to grow and contribute to management and the decision making process. Public Challenges Of The Australian Public Faces Amidst the information age, the Australian public faces perhaps the defining societal challenge of the 21st Century, the unprecedented governmental surveillance of metadata. Metadata surveillance refers to the recent legislation passed in March of this year, which sees compulsory retention of information by Australian telecommunication corporations, the individualised communications data of each Australian citizen. The recent legislation passed encompass an unprecedented surveillance of the masses, which will result in the creation of a perpetual surveillance state based purely on broad assumptions about potential terrorists activities. Concerns have arisen due to the proposals that encompass the compulsory data retention of all Australians telecommunication networks, which entrenches passive mass surveillance under the undefined concept of metadata. This mandatory retention of metadata for up to two years allows governmental organisations unprecedented access into the online activity of all Australians, a subversion of the legal presumption of innocence by treating all individuals as potential suspects through pre criminal investigation tactics. As a citizen, I believe this policy embodies the most fundamental violations of human privacy. It is without doubt this bill has obscured our rights behind a discourse of technological subjectivity, allowing for the creation of a framework within which rules can be adjusted and expanded through ministerial regulations, the ...
