1. Best Essays Ever Written
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Best Essays Ever Written" is undoubtedly a challenging
endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the vastness of the topic but also in the subjective nature
of what makes an essay truly exceptional. The sheer diversity of opinions on literary merit,
writing styles, and the definition of greatness adds an extra layer of complexity to the task.
To begin with, selecting the essays to discuss involves navigating through a vast sea of literary
works spanning different genres, time periods, and cultural backgrounds. The process of
deciding which essays are the "best" requires a nuanced understanding of various criteria, such as
the impact on readers, historical significance, and the ability to transcend time and cultural
boundaries.
Furthermore, dissecting the elements that contribute to the greatness of these essays is an
intricate process. It involves analyzing the eloquence of language, the depth of ideas, the artistry
of expression, and the profound impact on the reader. The task becomes even more challenging
when attempting to draw comparisons between essays from different eras and cultural contexts.
In addition to the content itself, addressing the subjective nature of literary appreciation poses a
considerable challenge. Readers' preferences, cultural backgrounds, and personal experiences
significantly influence their interpretation of what constitutes a "great" essay. Crafting an essay
that resonates universally while acknowledging this subjectivity is a delicate balance.
The research involved is another hurdle to overcome. A comprehensive exploration of the vast
landscape of literary history is necessary to provide context, highlight key contributors, and offer
a well-rounded view of the topic. Synthesizing this information into a coherent and engaging
narrative requires a deep understanding of the subject matter.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of the "Best Essays Ever Written" demands a
combination of literary insight, critical analysis, and the ability to navigate the complexities of
subjective appreciation. It is a task that requires both extensive research and a keen
understanding of the nuanced criteria that contribute to the greatness of an essay.

Synthesis and Reactivity of tert butyl Chloride via an Sn1 Reaction
Copeland 1
Introduction/Background
Substitution reactions are important chemical processes that contribute to the
production of new compounds. Simplistically, these reactions take place through a
series of steps in which one functional group is replaced by another (March). There
are two types of nucleophilic substitution reactions, first order and second order, but
this experiment only involves the Sn1 first order reactions. Sn1 reactions are
considered unimolecular meaning that only one molecule is involved in the rate
determining step, the slowest step of the reaction which determines the overall speed
of the reaction. In contrast, Sn2 reactions are considered bimolecular, and complete
the substitution reaction in one step. The main components of these reactions are the
nucleophile and the leaving group; a nucleophile replaces the leaving group by
donating its electrons to form a new bond to the carbon (Weldegirma). For this
experiment, the nucleophiles and leaving groups of the Sn1 reactions are alkyl
halides and alcohols respectively. When a hydrogen atom is replaced by halogen in
an alkane, the resulting compound is referred to as a alkyl halide. There are certain
factors that affect both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions which include the structure of the
substrate, and the concentration and reactivity of the nucleophile (Sn2 only). If a

At Birth a monster, At risk humanity In Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Victor
Frankenstein creates a hideous monster to appease his obsession in science. During
the monster s beginning of life he travels through many sufferable and emotional
obstacles. These major events are shown throughout the examples of imagery, and
tone and to intensify the scene a series of soundtracks were included. First, the first
scene primarily relates to the monster s awakening through an example of imagery.
For example on page 97 Frankensteinvividly explains, It was already one in the
morning; the rain pattered against the panes...when, by the glimmer of the half
extinguished light, I saw the dull eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a
convulsive motion agitated its limbs. Throughout this excerpt it is noticeable how
Frankenstein describes the scenery of the event. He explains how... Show more

This event occurs through an example of tone. For instance on page 93 the monster
angrily states, But again, when I had reflected that they had spurned and deserted me,
anger returned, a rage of anger...I turned my fury towards inanimate objects...I placed
a variety of combustibles around the cottage. In this excerpt the monster becomes
furious after the DeLacey family rejects him when he determines in confronting them.
His anger uncontrollably intensifies, even more when the family abandons the
cottage in spite of fear towards the monster. His tone produces an angry emotion since
he states Anger Returned and Rage of anger . Even so, when the monster incinerates
the cottage it supports the conclusion in the monster being enraged. To support the
scene, the whole group chose a suspenseful and thrilling song to exemplify, towards
the audience, the rage the monster felt when he received rejection from the DeLacey
6. The Other Wes Moore s Life Problems
The situations that both Wes Moore s experience throughout the story The Other
Wes Moore are real life problems that people face each and every day. But what is
being done to change this? Every day people fall victim to things such as racism,
assimilation, political and economic power, and tokenism. Yet, there are ways to
help people who are experiencing problems such as these. The only thing that needs
to be done is to have enough people stand up for these problems. Whether the
solutions to these problems are macro, or micro, there needs to be some sort of effort
to help the people who experience these sorts of oppressions. One major issue that
the other Wes Moore s mother experiences is not being able to get an educationdue to
a lack of funding. Mary had become pregnant at the age of 16 and was unable to
continue her education. While she was just barely providing for her familythrough
side jobs the paid minimum wage, she was also trying to receive an education by
attending John Hopkins University. She was able to do this through a program of
Pell Grants. She was only able to get 16 credits done when government decided to
quit funding the Pell Grants. Mary, along with many others trying to receive a
college education, was unable to finish her education. Due to the cut in funding
Mary could no longer afford it. Without being able to receive a college education,
Mary would continue to live in poverty because without an education she would not
be able to get a good job.
7. Reaction Paper On Deviant
I was raised by my grandparents who had many rules and taught me that it would
be disrespectful not to follow them, so it was hard for me to complete the three
deviant acts to write this paper. I have spent my life following social norms to the
best of my ability, even ones that seems absurd to me. The object of this
assignment frightened the heck out of me and I truly wasn t sure if I was going to
be able to complete it. The unspoken rule that I chose to break was the infamous
standing in a line waiting your turn rule, I chose to cut into the line without saying
anything at all. The first time I decided to do my deviant act was while standing in
line at the Tim Hortons at St. Paul s Hospital, which was especially hard for me
because I ve been going there for the past four years to visit my mother. There was
about 12 people standing in the line when I walked up to it and remembered that I
needed to do my deviant act and that now was as good a time as any. I felt very
nervous about what I was planning to do and honestly a little afraid because the
area isn t exactly the greatest area s in the city. I stood at the back of the line for
about 2 minutes trying to mentally prepare for what I was going to do. I finally
built up the courage to walk ahead and cut into the line, leaving only one person
ahead of me. No one said a single word to me, but I did notice one of the workers
looking towards the line and laughing. I literally could feel the blood rushing to my
face, but

9. Cultural Criticism In The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret
Atwood
Cultural criticism is a broad technique that puts emphasis on the culture that
contributed to the production of a work. This approach is an eclectic,
interdisciplinary study that utilizes a wide range of topics to analyze literature.
Cultural criticism considers a variety of perspectives and branches of knowledge to
discover the compilation of beliefs and customs that characterize a group of people.
For a cultural reading of The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood, a cultural critic
would consider the historical background paired with theories such as Marxism and
feminism to make assumptions about what cultureengendered the creation of this
novel. (104 words) Cultural criticism is oftentimes affiliated with historical criticism,

. . (304). The pervasive fear during this time in history regarding the falling birth
rates was heavily reflected in The Handmaid s Tale. Atwood depicts the
punishment given to those who engaged in activities such as abortions throughout
her novel. For a women in Gilead, more specifically a handmaid, not to reproduce
was taboo. This society placed a heavy emphasis on procreation due to the fear of
declining birthrates previously mentioned. Overall, Atwood wrote a book
regarding the controversial subject, women and fertility, in the 1980s because of
its intense cultural relevance at the time. One of the theories to which cultural
criticism is linked is Marxism. Marxism was an ideology created by Karl Marx
that focuses on struggles between social classes. This theory questions topics such
as economics, social classes and the conflict that occurs between them, and
oppression (including how it is overcome). Although Marxism is traditionally
associated with an economic division between classes, The Handmaid s Tale entails
more of a social division because of the economy in Gilead. One aspect of this
economy is that there is not a true monetary system in Gilead; instead, the people use
coupons. The social classes are not divided by conventional criteria such as income,
but are divided by gender. The men retain the highest, most powerful ranks in society.

11. Copper Carbonate Lab Report
The reaction characteristics of basic copper carbonate
гЂ–mCuCOгЂ—_3в‹…nгЂ–Cu(OH)гЂ—_2 were observed by changing the
reaction mole ratio. The reaction mole ratio of sodium carbonate to copper chloride
(II) was controlled from 1.08 to 1.68. Fig. 1 shows the XRD patterns of copper
carbonate powder. At a reaction ratio of 1.08, paratacamite (Cu_2 Cl(OH)_3 ), beside
alkali coppercarbonate, was formed because of incomplete reaction at a copper
content of 53.9 wt%. Lack of sodium carbonate may cause incomplete reaction with
copper chloride (II) because of low pH (6.0) of the solution [12]. The copper content
according to the reaction moleratio were 57.7, 50.5, 58.8, 59.3, and 59.8 wt% at the
reaction mole ratios of 1.20, 1.32, 1.44, 1.56, and 1.68, respectively.... Show more

The malachite basic copper carbonate formed as CuCO3 в‹… Cu(OH)2 shows
bright green, whereas that of azurite formed as 2CuCO3 в‹… Cu(OH)2 shows
strong blue. In this study, most of the manufactured copper carbonate was converted
to malachite basic copper carbonate of bright green at the reaction mole ratio of
1.20. In the case of low reaction ratio of sodium carbonate, m, the stoichiometric
coefficients of CuCO3, is higher than n, the stoichiometric coefficient of Cu(OH)2, so
that the amount of CuCO3 is generated is more than that of Cu(OH)2. With
increasing reaction mole ratio of sodium carbonate, m is lower than n so that the
generation rate of CuCO_3 is lower than that of CuгЂ–(OH)гЂ—_2. Therefore,
copper content increased with increasing sodium carbonate. With assumption of same
value of m and n, theoretical copper content becomes 57.5

Buffy is a woman known for being strong, smart, and independent. The show, Buffy
the Vampire Slayer, teaches a multitude of life lessons, not to judge a book by its
cover and that actions speak louder than words. Even though Buffy has incredible
strength and is seen as an independent woman, she is still a teenager, within the
episode Hush, she symbolizes typical teenage struggles. Near the beginning of the
episode, Buffy is unable to focus during class instead she continuously daydreams.
Buffy daydreaming in class is symbolic to typical high school students. This is

13. Suffering The Pros And Cons Of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a program that can perform tasks that a human can do,
like speech recognition, visual perception, language translation. AIs have been a very
popular topic in scientists and engineers. An example of artificial intelligence is
Watson, this program can answer questions, Watson was featured in a jeopardy game
along with two former winners, Watson did, in fact, win first place with one million
dollars, but Watson was only given three clues to solve the question, the program was
not connected to the internet. The program quickly outsmarted his opponents, but
had trouble in other categories, meaning that the program beat human intelligence on
the post topic. Artificial Intelligence will become a superintelligence because of the
progress rate, unstoppable singularity, and brain improvement. Although, the rate of
progress will eventually lead to an intelligence explosion, in which this intelligence
will surpass human intelligence. This means that the AI will start off learning like a
child, the basic learning, read, math, science. This may seem very basic, but once
the program learns, it can move on, the program will learn much quicker and faster
than the average human can, they can adapt and comprehend things much quicker
but once this program learns so much, space exploration will be easier to do by
giving suggestion on creating an object or machine that can go into space and record
data faster and with fewer errors. An article entitled Weighing the

Introduction This paper will attempt to compare two systematic review articles on the
topic of restraints and seclusion (S R) and its implications within the child adolescent
population and developmentally impaired persons. The articles should present
evidence to address claims on reduction while the results of the studies provide
evidence on rationales to these practices. Aggressive behaviors by both of these
populations in inpatient psychiatric facilities at some point become a safety issue in
terms of assault and injury for both. Both reviews focus on incidences of seclusion
and restraints and ways to reduce usage. The articles aim to answer what the current
state of evidence is supporting restraints and reduction methods. Nonetheless,
interventions are needed to reduce restriction and restraint utilization in children and
persons with developmental disabilities (Menon, Raghavendra, Bernard 2010)

restraints on people with developmental disabilities: A systematic review and
quantitative synthesis, analyzes the use of R S within the developmental disabled.
According to Gaskin, Mcvilly McGillivray (2013) there is insufficient evidence that
explores these practices among this population. There is also not enough evidence for
aggression management measures and training in de escalation procedures. The
review assesses studies that introduce interventions and the effects of R S

unrecognized for it during his lifetime.
Anatomical studies were primarily for the purpose of better depiction of the human

(Ochenkowski, 199)
The earliest anatomical drawings by Leonardo are attributed to 1487. On the basis of
these drawings certain facts become manifest. It is apparent that his knowledge of
anatomy was what he had acquired by reading traditional writers such as Avicenna
and Mundinus, by some animal dissection and by surface inspection of the living
human. (Morley, 554)
With his return to Florence, Leonardo again took up his anatomical studies, and it
appears that for the first time he had access to a reasonably large amount of
dissection material, obtained at the Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova. As the dates of
his drawings indicate, he had further dissection specimens available to him,
although whether he during this Florentine period ever became the possessor of an
entire cadaver there is no certainty. At the beginning of this period he was still an
amateur in the anatomical discipline, and his remarkable observations emphasized
his genius. It is wondered how much dissection Da Vinci actually did and despite his
remarkable observations of arteriosclerosis, indicative of close observation of the
arterial system, it was thought that Leonardo s used of animal materials and his

She was alert and mentally quite capable until about a year ago when she began to
manifest signs and symptoms of dementia. A review of her medical records failed to
document a thorough analysis of her dementia, but a diagnosis of probable
Alzheimer disease was recorded. What are the common manifestations of dementia?

abilities severe enough to interfere with daily life. It is caused by physical changes in
the brain. (Common Types of Dementia, 2012). The first manifestations of Dementia

Dementia This form of dementia results from many strokes. When a patient has a

ability before their memory. 5. Parkinson Disease with Dementia Approximately
40% of patients with Parkinson s disease will have dementia (Parkinson s disease,
2011). The nerve cells in the brain that make dopamine are slowly destroyed
leaving no way for the brain to send messages. What other potentially treatable
factors might have led to Mrs. Yowell s deteriorating mental function? There are
many reasons that Mrs. Yowell may have impaired mental functioning (see Table

A urine sample can show if there are white blood cells (indicating infection) present
in the urine. The increased levels of bacteria in an elderly person s body can cause
toxicity which leads to the altered mental status (Midthun, 2004). Most noted changes
are confusion, agitation and lethargy. Table 1| | (Shadlen amp; Larson, 2012)|

Khan Academy explains, The second law of motion states that force on an object is
equal to the mass of the object multiplied by its acceleration. If we apply this law to
a football, it tells us that the amount that the ball accelerates depends on the force
applied by the quarterback and the mass of the ball. ( Football Physics ). The less
mass a ball has the further it s potential to travel is. The lighter the ball is, the faster
and further the ball can move. Additionally, Khan Academy writes, The second law
also tells us that acceleration of the football also depends on the mass of the
football. If the player is throwing an extra heavy football, the acceleration of the
football would decrease compared to a lighter football that is thrown with the
same force. ( Football Physics ). This quote explains that the lighter a ball is, the
farther a ball can be thrown. Also, the farthest a ball can be thrown depends on the
amount of force the person throwing applies to the ball. ( Football Physics ). When
a ball is lighter due to less air pressure, the quarterback will be able to throw it further.
The less mass makes the ball lighter, and this will allow the wind to be able to carry
the ball

Literature work always has some lesson for the people that could even leave a
thought provoking effect on their lives and compel them to understand the reality of
the world. However, there are some people, who just read literature as a source of
entertainment, but the real meaning, of the reading or encountering any literature
work, is realized when a reader understands a message. Which writer intends to give

In the story of the old man, even though wise woman suggested family to kill the
angel, they decided otherwise, as they had a kind heart. As their child became

and helped him to recover his health (Jackson).
On the other hand, the angle also had to suffer in the hands of human as the people
come to visit him reacted mercilessly. Even though they know that the angel is sick,
but their curiosity pushed them to throw stones and pushed him with an iron rod to
find out either he is an angel or not. This story is an attempt by the writer to highlight
the different human behaviors in different situations. The priest remembers that an

21. Theme Of Stigma In Tennessee Williams
Tennessee Williams (1911 1983) is one of the most highly known American
dramatists of the twentieth century. He has depicted several protagonists who are
discriminated against and deals with the issues of stigma.
What is stigma? According to Cambridge Dictionary, stigma is when people
disapprove of something, especially when this is unfair, and to treat someone or
something unfairly by disapproving of them. In the plays of Tennessee Williams the
members of stigmatized groups violate the norms established by the dominant group
and, as such, are marked by the resulting social stigma. These members of
stigmatized groups may be called the marked and the ones who stigmatize, may be
referred to as the markers. Marked individuals are diminished, blemished, or
imperfect in the eyes of others with far reaching results which dehumanizes them.
Stigmatized characters by Williams differ from the privileged characters he created
in terms of appearance as well as behavior. In The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar
Named Desire Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Summer and Smoke and Suddenly Last
Summer Williams characters are discriminated against and easily identifiable as the
Marked.

Aesthetics, what is beautiful or appealing, plays an important role. In general, less
physically attractive people are more likely to be stigmatized in the plays. One
reliable indicator of physical attractiveness is facial symmetry, or the degree to which
the left and right sides of the face are mirror images of each other. Williams sketches
characters after characters with facial disfigurement that do not meet this standard
and are likely to be stigmatized. He portrays the American culture, in which slimness
is emphasized and overweight people become the targets of discrimination. Similarly,
a central component of the old age stereotype is a decline in physical attractiveness
and mobility which is seen in the

This summer, Alice decided that she was going to go to Death Valley National
Park in California. There was only one problem. When Alice asked her parents if she
could go, they said no. Alice could only go if she could find at least two friends to go
with her. Alice asked her two best friends, Lea and Rachel. They said yes! Alice was
so excited, This is going to be the best summer ever!
The three girls met up together at Alice s house to discuss what they were going to
need to pack. What is the weather like so I know what to pack, Rachel questioned
Alice? Well, since the climate is arid and hot, with dry air masses trapped in the
valley because there are mountains on both sides, you would probably need shorts
and a tank top to keep cool. Probably, you will need shorts, tank tops, hiking shoes,
sunscreen, and sunglasses, Alice replied. A hat too, Lea inquired? Alice answered,
Yes. Alice s friends didn t really know what Death Valleywas or why it was called
Death Valley so she gave a little detail about it. Death Valley is the lowest point on
the contiguous U.S, which is 282 feet below sea level. Death Valley is located near
the highest point on the contiguous U.S., which is about 76 miles away. On
February 11, 1933, President Herbert Hoover made Death Valley a national
monument and in 1944 Death Valley was re designated as a national park, Alice told
the girls. After the girls finished packing, they went to sleep and the next day, they

25. Sponge Research Paper
Allowing Time to Work
We are understanding and recognize working time in many areas of our life. Early
this season we applied weed treatment and fertilizer on our yard. When you have a
slow moving drain, you pour in drain cleaner. Dinner requires us to prepare the dish
and then use the oven or microwave to cook it. In many daily situations, we do not
take the action and expect immediate results. We allow time for the results to take
place.
Performing on stage requires us to allow time as well. The hard part is that there is
no timer, or directions (wait 24 hours before watering) to follow. Timing with
performance is something we must teach ourselves. It develops through a series of
trial and error. We learn from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then you can announce to them let me show the people over on the other side as you
do. This simple but logical action allows time in the routine.
As you suspect we all allow time for applause at the end of a trick. There are also
times you can allow for time with nothing more than facial expressions or other
movement. I perform a trick where an egg vanishes on one side of the stage and is
supposed to appear within an egg cup that is covered by a cylinder on the other
side. I vanish the egg and walk over to uncover the egg cup only to show it is empty.
The trick failed and I allow time as I first look confused. Then I allow more time,
and emphasize it failed, by searching for the egg. I look under the tray, on the floor
under the table, etc. These combined actions help the audience understand the egg did
not reappear, that the trick failed and that the egg cannot be found.
You can also allow time with storyline. Many times, you can pause allowing the
audience to absorb what you just said. Adding some facial expression often helps.
Your assistant can also add by making comments the audience might. As an example,
the assistant may mention: you really should open your other hand . Or announce
that the sponge is probably under the cup on the table. But when you show it is isn t.
There will be times where you just have to stop and wait for the audience to catch
up. They may be
26. How Does Shakespeare Show Love In As You Like It
Love in As You Like It
Throughout the centuries, men have pondered many great questions. Among these is
the question: What is love? There is no doubt that the greatest name in English
literature, Shakespeare, sought to answer this question for himself. Indeed,
Shakespeare recorded his answer in many of the sonnets and plays he wrote,
including As You Like It. As Shakespearelearned in seeking to answer this question,
love is many things, which in this play he observes through the characters of the play,
but most directly through Silvius:
It is to be all made of fantasy,
All made of passion and all made of wishes,
All adoration, duty, and observance,
All humbleness, all patience and impatience,
All purity, all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Risking his own life, he tells them not to eat any food, then explains why:
There is an old poor man,
Who after me hath many a weary step
Limp d in pure love: till he be first sufficed,
Oppress d with two weak evils, age and hunger,
I will not touch a bit (II.vii).
Orlando is not merely being selfless, he is being selfless to help out a servant, a
member of a lower social class. There are few names with such a reputation, and one
of them is the legendary Robin Hood. In this way Shakespeare shows the selflessness
of love.
Shakespeare through Orlando again shows selflessness, this time not for a loving
subordinate, but for his hateful brother. Orlando is walking through the forest, and
catches a glimpse of a wretched and ragged man, o ergrown with hair asleep at the
base of an old oak tree (IV.iii). A snake crawls down from the man, then slithers
under a bush, where a lioness crouches, ready to leap at the first movement of the
man. Orlando see the man to be none other than his elder brother. Twice did he turn
his back and purpos d so [to leave him there]/ But kindness, nobler ever than
revenge ... Made him give battle to the lioness (IV.iii). Orlando chooses to save his
brother at great risk to himself, and is indeed injured in the process. By placing the
good, and even more paramount, the life, of another before the his own good and
life, Orlando shows the greatest possible display of selfless love that he can. It is
interesting to note
27. Australia Gallipoli Campaign Speech
Good morning and welcome to the Australian war memorial. Today is the day we
mark 100 years since the Gallipoli campaign was launched in April 25th 1915. This
war like many others is known for its strategic landing. This significant event marks
the first steps on foreign land as allies to Britain. As Australians we commemorate this
day and remember those who fought on behalf on this nation. Even though the
Gallipoli campaignwas unsuccessful, why do we celebrate it? Why don t we celebrate
the experiences and events that were more successful than the Gallipoli landing like
the Battle at lone pine, The Evacuation or The Charge at the Nek? These events are
important and successful missions but no prominence is given to them. The

An account by Ellis Ashmead Bartlett who was a world war one correspondent
describes the landing at Gallipoli which displays the values of our young men during
battle. Yet Bartlett glorified death and made it seem like a duty to many young men
of Australia that must be fulfilled. Bartlett wrote The courage displayed by these
wounded Australians and New Zealanders will never be forgotten . Recounts
shows that in the experience of war special qualities make up the Anzac sprit. The
struggle and hardship of the battle brought also many good things to these young
man which reveals the Australian spirit that includes Bravery, humor, Mateship,
resourcefulness, endurance and belief. These values have emerged from the tragic
events which took place at the Gallipoli peninsula. The Anzac legend was invented
to give hope to the fighters from such a dreadful experience of war. However by
the time the war ended more than 60,000 Australian were dead. Now the legend is
overlooked because of the defeat at Gallipoli. Now we only hold memory and
reputation of the landing. Unlike today if a call to war was announced few would

their country to fight for their nation. Today if asked, many boys would think it s
like a game or just fun, or some might even deny the request as believe it shouldn t

Monsanto s dicamba has turned friendly neighbors into legal foes due to crops
damaged by dicamba s inability to stay where it is supposed to. With the soybean
harvest basically complete, we are seeing more and more claims filed and litigation
initiated as farmers calculate the effect that dicamba applied by a neighbor may have
had on their fields.
States like Arkansas, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Tennessee and Indiana
are trying to get a head of potential damage in next year s soybean crops by
implementing increased limitations and training for applying dicamba. The Arkansas
State Plant Board decided to bar dicamba and implemented tougher restrictions on
other weed killers for next year after receiving reports of over 900,000 acres ... Show

New formulations of dicamba are being introduced and Monsanto has agreed to
training applicators on applying only in the proper conditions to limit the evaporating
effect. However, Arkansas s Plant Board believes more research and even tighter
restrictions may be necessary.
Monsanto and farmers who apply dicamba on dicamba resistant soybeans filed suit
against the Arkansas State Plant Board claiming dicamba was being governed by an
unfair standard. Approximately 25 million dicamba resistant crops were planted in
2017 with a two fold increase expected next year. Accordingly, dicamba and the
dicamba resistant crops is a large profit maker for Monsanto which obviously wants
to protect and offer to Arkansas farmers. Farmers who plant the dicamba resistant
crops want access to the weed killer to control weeds that other herbicides fail to
control. Both claim that the Arkansas Plant Board has overstepped their authority and
are preventing Arkansas farmers a technological advantage that farmers in other states
possess.
On the flip side, farmers who have been damaged by dicamba drift are left with no
alternative but to seek their own legal remedies for yield loss; turning friends into

Tim Winton s heartfelt and intricate 1991 novel Cloudstreet centres around two
families, the Pickles and the Lambs, as they flee to the urbanising city of Perth after
separate tragedies to occupy number one Cloud Street, a dauntingly large old house
with a history. Sam Pickles inherits the house after his cousin Joel dies, leaving Sam
with Cloudstreetand two thousand pounds. However, due to Sam s obsessive
gambling, the Pickles soon become desperate for money, dividing the house in half

They then [step] inside to the grind and protest of the floorboards (pg. 38). This
example highlights that the setting is described to reflect the lack of meaning that
the Pickles have to the house. Another example of this is how the big emptiness of
the house around them [almost paralyses] them with spaces and surfaces that yield
nothing to them . The Pickle s have no money and a great continent of a house
[that] doesn t belong to them (pg. 41). The reader s first encounter with Cloudstreet
leaves room for development of not only the story, but the house itself. The Lambs
and Pickles moving into number one Cloud Street perhaps reflects how each of
these families are literally back to square one , after their individual traumas at the
beginning of the novel. The Lambs and the Pickles are also living together despite
being complete strangers, sharing only a singular idea in common: the search for
meaning in their lives.
The house is a connection to who the characters are, their being and culture. This is
evident when the black fella is constantly telling Quick to go home throughout the
story, referring to Cloudstreet. Rose s decision to give up her house in the new
suburbs and move back to Cloudstreet is also an example of this connection to the
house, as Rose and Quick, as part of their character development, realise they cannot
abandon who they are; they cannot abandon Cloudstreet.

The first half of Discovering Missions written by Culbertson and Gailey introduce the
countless aspects of missions and related terminology in reference to missions.
Throughout the book, the focus is then directed to the important factors that play a
part in missions. Chapters eight through fourteen covers the importance of
intercultural communication, volunteerism in mission, development of missionaries,
the contrasting philosophies and strategies of mission, the new contexts from
missions, the importance of mobilizing the local church and the changes affecting
mission today. From this reading, I have learned the important factors that have an
effect on missions and various ways in which they effect missions.
Intercultural communication is a form of communication that aims to share
information across different cultures and social groups. A form of communication is
language. It is often viewed as an important factor in relation to the cultural
perspective. The cultural perspective refers to the way that individuals are shaped by
their environments as well as social and cultural factors. It affects how people relate
to one another and their ability to communicate. Language is essential in the study
and practice of global mission.
It is of great importance in the study and practice of global mission that we are able

CHAPTER 3: KIM AS A PRESENTATION OF THE ISSUE
Kim is as unique in Kipling s life and career as it is in English literature. It was first
serialised in America, in McClure s Magazine, December, 1900 to October 1901;
in England, in Cassell s Magazine, January to November 1901. Kipling s works
aimed at a broad base for an audience, both McClure s and Cassell s were known as
late century publications which incorporated techniques of the new journalism like
muckraking, as well as sensationalism and pulp in the stories to attract larger
audiences. Both the magazines published the work digestibly as one chapter at a time.
Kim s first book edition by Doubleday, Page Co., New York, 1 October 1901, the
first English edition, by Macmillan and Co. Ltd., 17 October 1901. In 1998, Kim
was ranked on No.78 on his list of the 100 best English language novels of the 20th
century by the Modern Library.
Kim is considered as Kipling s masterpiece. The scenery behind the story of Kim is
The Great Game, the political conflict between Russia and Britain in Central Asia.
It is set probably in the period 1893 98, after the Second Afghan war, which ended
in 1881 but before the Third. The novel is interesting for its description of
representation of the people, culture, languages and different religions of India. The
book presents a vivid picture of India, its teeming population, religions and
superstitions, and the life of the bazaars and the roads .

merely a fraction of the true number of human rights breaches that theCuban
government is guilty of committing ( Amnesty International 2002Report ). But the
human rights violations are not the only reason actionneeded to be taken towards
Cuba.
Another reason forimplementing the embargo on Cuba concerns the corrupt

victory in what was the Fourth Anglo Mysore War of 1789 99 distinguished the
beginning of Arthur Wellesley s rule as Governor General, a rule characterized by
ruthless diplomacy. In fact, the victory at Seringapatam, as Collins knew, represented
the establishment of England as the major power on the sub continent, at the same

Before Herncastle acquires the Moonstone at the siege of Seringapatam in 1799, the

America is a country of immigrants. The country was founded by travelers,
pilgrims, and entrepreneurs from lands far from the New World. The land was
fought and controlled by migrants. The doctrine for which this land gained law
and order was written by the decedents of aliens in this land. And a century after
the perils of war had been shed, a huge flux of new travelers sought after the riches
that were able to be claimed in the beauty of this great expanse of land. There was so
little to lose and so much to gain in the journey to the United States. Progress in
monetary, religious, and cultural means fueled a fire beneath these migrants. A
portion of my family s history is no different than the accounts of many of the
travelers from the Old World. There are too vastly many accounts from different

documented in his personal journal. The journal had seen better days, as could be
expected from a book one hundred and fifty years old. In the 1980 s the journal, in
an increasingly decaying state, was transposed onto microfilm. This made the
journal entries very challenging to read and translate as it was in a variant of
German with a large amount of jargon, in addition to matted pages and water

39. Paulo Freire s The Banking Concept Of Education
Education is defined as the act or process of imparting or acquiring general
knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of
preparing oneself for mature life.(dictionary.com). This is what education is seen as
and is conformed to be through the banking concept towards education. Nothing else
is expected from it but it is expected to be the key to success in the real world. The
educational system is flawed, it tells educators how to and what to teach and turns
students into robots. Therefore, striping kids of the opportunity to comprehend what
they are told to memorize and not just regurgitate the information back.
In addition, In his essay, The Banking Concept of Education , Paulo Freire theorizes
about the role education plays in society, Freire s central thesis is that the current
education method lacks the communication and creativity that is necessary to allow
students to succeed. After careful analysis of my own experience within Friere s
paradigm, it is clear that the points made by Freire regarding the banking concept
are the true because I have seen how teachers and students act in a classroom and
how students work towards absorbing all of the information deposited to them
without taking the time to think of what they are absorbing. Moreover, Freire
correctly acknowledges that the current education system is flawed and needs to be
corrected/improved, however, his paradigm is less accurate in its assessment of
establishing more than one

The popularity of social networking sites is relatively recent and the effect of online
social networking (OSN) on employee productivity has not received much scholarly
attention. The reason most likely lies in the social nature of social networking sites

Recent studies, for example, Golder, Wilkinson and Huberman (2007), Arvanitis and
Loukis (in press) and Coyle and Vaughn (2008:13в€’17) concur that social networks
are typical characterisations of human behaviour to fulfil the need to communicate
and connect with people they know, meet new people who share a common interest,
collaborate, participate and share information and knowledge as well as gain new
knowledge. Generally, these are also the reasons why individuals engage in social
behaviour via the Internet. To many, the Internet provides effective social networking
opportunities and their online behaviour includes building individual relationships,
expanding their personal network of friends, finding people who have had similar
experiences, discussing common topics of interest, dating and finding potential life
partners, staying connected to old friends or distant family and virtually meeting
peers, including work colleagues, to discuss current issues or topics of interest.

When asked to look at Magritte s The Human Condition, and being asked how
many frames do you see in the image was one of the hardest questions I will ever
answer in school. At the same time, I feel that it is also a trick question because it
not about how many you see, as there are different ways to look at it, but it is how
the image relates as a whole. This taught us that everyone may view things differently
and that we analyse things differently. Our first assignment we were to teach
someone to use a piece of technology that they wouldn t know how to use. You were
to observe them and take notes on how they learned and handled the situation at hand.
I found that these situations, this one in particular, can sometimes be frustrating and
that we must be patient in peoples learning abilities. Learning new things is very
common in all practices, for example when learning how to use a first machine if

reading and a good understanding of The Man to Send RainClouds , a person would
see an underlying meaning of an honest priest who does something against his better

Indian man is found underneath a cottonwood tree where Leon, the protagonist,

MULTLI CHANNEL APPROACH
Tesco follows a multi channel approach. It was the first retailer to create grocery

The private label market in the UK is growing at a steady pace. Preference for
private labels has been increasing in the UK as consumers have become price

F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, The reason one writes isn t the fact he wants to say
something. He writes because he has something to say. This quote applies directly to
Ngugi Wa Thiong s novel A Grain of Wheat. One could infer from this quote that
some writers write not just for the enjoyment derived from it, but rather out of a
feeling of obligation to let readers hear what they may have to say. Ngugi s message
that he feels obligated to convey is delivered, however, he uses a very unusual writing
technique to arrive there. He wants the readers to understand the pain, suffering, and
confusion that took place during the Emergency. Through jumbled chronological
order, numerous characterand point of view changes, and a powerful... Show more

When Part two begins with chapter four, the setting of the book has completely
changed. Within this chapter, the readers start out with another short history lesson
that is completely out of context from the previous reading. Ngugi then shifts to
Karanja and his multiple inner battles. The readers are now left pondering what time
period and which characters thoughts they are reading.
The fact that Ngugi begins this novel, and concludes it, after the Emergency without
maintaining chronological sequence is what begins to make this story so unique.
Although he is moving across a vast time period, the chronology is never consistent.
He manages to explore a sixty year time period while remaining focused on the six
days leading up to Uhuru. Basically, the readers are forced to become deadlocked
into the book and examine every minute detail that is thrown at them. If the readers
do not do this, then it is most likely that they will miss a key detail in the book and
be confused for the rest of the novel. During Ngugi s chronological jumps
throughout the book, he constantly switches the point of view along with which
character the story focuses on. This forces the readers to go into each chapter
reading without knowing who or what is going to come next. This also forces the
readers to pay close attention to every sentence of the book while maintaining their
sanity. This loss of sanity is due to the fact that the readers are

Creating an Environmental Ethic
Traditionally, Western views of environment ethics has been unclear and for the most
part unnecessary. We used earth s resources without thinking about consequence. This
nonchalant use aided in the West s ability to influence the world through
technological advances. In the past, limited travel and slow communication systems
had limited our view to a local one. If pollution or to much urbanization occurred the
solution was to move. Industrialization has changed things. With science advancing
so quickly, the population exploding, and our environment actually being truly
affected on a global scale. Within our lifetime, we can see changes in the
environment. No longer do we have wild frontiers, ... Show more content on

Everything in nature lives in a symbiosis so complicated that we cannot disassociate a
living thing from its habitat. Humans have the ability to alter their surroundings and
disrupt the balance of nature to a point where an equilibrium may never be reached.
So in the definition of nature, human element have no part of it. We will assume that
we act as an outside force onto a habitat.
Nature is intrinsically good Although our actions towards the environment,
especially within the past 150 year, may not have been favorable, nevertheless the
historical and global attitudes toward nature has always been one of reverence.
The proof of this reverence can be seen through religion. It can also be inferred
from our interests in science and the fact throughout history there have always
been advocates for the preservation of nature. These notions are not limited to a
section of the world, but have independent roots in many cultures and societies
world wide. One place to start are in cosmology sagas. Many of them have a
common thread of being highly naturalistic and emphasizing the miracle of all life.
The Enuma Elish, an ancient tale from Mesopotamia, describes the forming of the
world from pure water. These people s most revered gods and goddesses were ones
of land and abundance. Although this can be explained away by many critics as
simply there dependence on an agrarian society,

us on earth. We came because the Virus Fang destroyed our planet. We came here
in individual transport no two space lords came together. The way that I made it
here is by a Legof. A Legof is the name of our spaceships back on my planet that
can travel in any atmosphere and disguise itself as anything. The Legof is as living
as I am. Most of us traveled that way, but there were a few of us who knew how to
teleport. Now I am the last one left to save the world from the Virus Fang. I have
been hiding from the monsters that killed most of my brothers. The Virus Fang
search to destroy all life from space lords to humans.
The scars of my dead brethren are split between my two legs. Each of the scars is
engraved with a small picture of which of my brethren it represents, leaving a
memory of those who I have lost in battle. The scars hurt every once in a while. It s
almost like they are still living as a part of me. Some mornings I wake up and the
pain is so unbearable that I actually believe that my brethren are crawling out of the
scars on my leg and coming back to life.
It s morning. It seems almost impossible to get out of my warm, cozy confortable bed

The first thing you do to fix a facility is to evaluate it it and see what potential
changes need to be made. But, between evaluating and actually making changes,
the facility needs to be assessed to determine specific needs based on the needs of
the athletes and the teams that use the SURF. It is important to assess the needs of
the SURF and the people who use the SURF before any decisions are made because
they are the people who use the equipment and know what changes need to be made.
NSCA Questions: How many SURF members will use the facility? The SURF

Overall I think the SURF is doing a good job with all things considered. Based on
my observation and the people I interviewed, people are very happy with the way
the SURF is ran, its upkeep, and all other things considered. I have learned that
students and athletes majorly use the SURF, and 3pm to 8pm are its busiest hours.
It seems as though it is perceived that the SURF has many good machines and
equipment, but there still could be a few more things added, like a turf area and
upgraded machines. It is also something to notice that there are some machines that
are used more than others, and that means those machines are under more wear and
tear and should be assessed more often. Overall, I think the SURF needs to look at a
few machines to upgrade, and to look at adding a few spaces and equipment to the
area as

Interviewed recently for the company magazine, Dr Woodhouse explained how one
option for POG Azerbaijan would have been to rely on experienced expatriates to do
the whole job, but that was not POG s way. Her focus, she said, was on the
recruitment of nationals, who could be developed so that they can ultimately manage
the operation. Right now, 40 Azeri employees were undergoing technical training at
POG s development centre in the Netherlands. For one thing, she continued, it costs
considerably more to bring expatriates to Azerbaijan and it was important to employ
those who understand the local environment, who know how to get things done. This
fitted in with the company s belief in recruiting the best possible staff to plan, build
and operate the platforms and pipelines. A constant concern, however, was that Azeri
standards were currently well below international standards on health and safety, in
spite of considerable company investment in health and safety training. This is
unacceptable position for POG, operating as it does in a highly dangerous industry
that is at the centre of the media s spotlight.

Although his theory proved to be flawed, Hippocrates classification of some types of
mental health problems generally correspond to diagnostic categories we use today.
His description of melancholia, for example, is similar to our current conception of
depression. 69 70 Chapter 3 During the Middle Ages some authorities classified
abnormal behaviors into two groups, those that resulted from demonic possession and
those due to natural causes. The 19th century German psychiatrist Emil Kraepelin
was the first modern theorist to develop a comprehensive model of classification
based on the distinctive features, or symptoms, associated with abnormal behavior
patterns (see Chapter 1). The most commonly used classification system today is
largely an outgrowth and extension of Kraepelin s work: the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), published by the American
Psychiatric Association. Why is it important to classify abnormal behavior? For one
thing, classification is the core of science. Without labeling and organizing patterns of
abnormal behavior, researchers could not communicate their findings to one another,
and progress toward understanding these disorders would come to a halt. Moreover,
important decisions are made on the basis of classification. Certain psychological
disorders respond better to one therapy than another or to one drug than another.

In early China existed three very powerful dynasties, two being the Shang and the
Zhou. Despite the Shang existing on the eastern coast of China and the Zhou

led to the demise of the Shang dynasty. Both dynasties upheld a pseudo feudal
society with the king remaining in the capital and his male family members
residing in smaller cities to enforce the king s rule. The rule of the king was closely

In contrast, the jia vessel has a significantly more simplified taotie with a thin band
lining the top of the body and small, undecorated bands outlining the body of the
vessel like a garland. Also, both jia vessels have two knobs at the top and a handle
that extends from the top of the neck to the middle of the body. The handle of the
Shang jia is thin and simple while the handle of the Zhou is a bit thicker and is
carved in the shape of an animal.
The reason for the sharp contrast in the style of taotie decoration between the two
vessels can be attributed to the evolution of decoration preferences from the Shang to
the Zhou dynasty. During the transition from the Shang dynasty to the Zhou dynasty
the artistic style of taotie design became more simplified as, with the transfer of
power, taotie began its journey towards disintegration. As opposed to the highly
decorated and animalistic taotie bands on Shang vessels, taotie bands during the
Zhou period are thinner, less decorative, and more geometric. This newly
simplified style of decoration also allows for more blank space, emphasized by the
comparison between these Shang and Zhou vessels. There was also a rise in bird
imagery as depictions of birds developed an association with clans. Therefore, the
animal that appears to be carved into the handle of the Zhou jia vessel could
resemble this bird.

Professional accountants are required to comply with the fundamental principles of
APES 110 code and apply to the conceptual framework approach in order to determine
their compliance with the fundamental principles whenever they know that situation
or relationships may compromise their compliance. While the responsibility is on the
professional accountant to do this, the bulk of APES 110 code of ethics explains
how the conceptual framework works in specific situations, for example when
receiving gifts or other inducements form a superior may threaten corporate
accountants independence. (Catherine Allen, 2010). Like the FIA code, the APES

In all the other instance, once a threat is recognized, the APES 110 requires a

whether safeguards could eliminate or adequately reduce the threat to an acceptable

significant that no safeguards can be functional to reduce or eliminate treats to an

52. Examples Of Western Language In Waiting For Godot
WESTERN CULTURE: WAITING FOR GODOT
Civilizations will talk to themselves. Art is the favored medium of discourse.
Literature mirrors that internal conversation directly. For example, take Victorian
England. Dickens A Christmas Carol reflected social guilt over the treatment of the
poor. H. G. Wells the War of the Worlds reflected insecurity over an industrial age
world war. That war became a reality in less than two decades. So it s wise to listen
to a culture s authors, especially to those whose work outlives them. Their words
often predict the future.
In 1953, Samuel Beckett opened in Paris the French version of Waiting for Godot.
This tragic comedy depicts the vigil of two characters (Vladimir and Estragon). By a
dismal roadside, the two await the momentous coming of Godot. This character,
however, never appears. This brings both Vladimir and Estragon to the point of a
comedic suicide. It is comic because in ends with a broken belt and falling pants.
No one dies. The two friends give Godot another day. If he fails to show, the two
will try again more seriously. At this point, the play ends. The puzzled audience
leaves with unanswered questions. Some critics say that the plays conclusion is the
point. It parallels, as well as parodies, human life.
The play s characters seem commonplace. So are their activities. These include talk,
jokes, smells, food, strangers, and even boots. By themselves, they offer no special
