Thermal Pollution Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of thermal pollution presents a unique set of challenges. First
and foremost, comprehending the intricate details of thermal pollution and its multifaceted
impacts on ecosystems demands a comprehensive understanding of environmental science and
related disciplines. The researcher must delve into the realms of thermodynamics,
hydrodynamics, and environmental engineering to grasp the intricacies involved.
Moreover, the essay requires a balanced approach, addressing both the scientific aspects and the
real-world consequences of thermal pollution. It involves exploring the effects on aquatic
ecosystems, the alteration of water temperatures, and the subsequent disturbance of aquatic life.
This necessitates sifting through copious amounts of scientific literature, case studies, and
environmental reports to construct a well-informed and persuasive argument.
However, the challenge extends beyond comprehending the scientific nuances. Effectively
communicating these complex concepts to a diverse audience with varying levels of scientific
literacy is another hurdle. Striking the right balance between technical jargon and layman terms
becomes crucial to ensure that the essay remains accessible while maintaining its academic rigor.
In addition, assembling a coherent and structured narrative poses its own set of difficulties. The
essay must flow logically, transitioning smoothly from one point to the next, while maintaining a
clear thesis throughout. The introduction needs to captivate the reader's attention, the body
should present a comprehensive exploration of the topic, and the conclusion must leave a lasting
impact.
Furthermore, the essay must be underpinned by rigorous research, with accurate citations and
references. Given the evolving nature of environmental science, staying abreast of the latest
research findings and incorporating them into the essay adds another layer of complexity.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on thermal pollution requires not only a deep understanding of
the scientific principles involved but also the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and
compelling manner. It demands meticulous research, careful structuring, and an adept
communication of ideas. Nevertheless, with dedication and the right resources, navigating these
challenges can lead to a well-crafted and impactful piece of writing.

Deforestation Problems
Deforestation
Deforestation is a very big problem in our world, that not lot of people are worried
about, it s that s causing many issues in our environment and issues for lots of
animals. Deforestation is when people cut down trees to get wood for building and
papermaking, and to burn firewood. They also clear land for crops to grow and
animals to graze. Many animal habitats are suffering because of us humans! Keep
reading to see how many problems deforestation is doing to our woods, jungles, and
other places on our planet earth. The most dramatic impact is a big loss of habitat for
millions of species. Eighty percent of Earth s land animals and plants live in forests,
and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes. Deforestation
also drives climate change in many countries.
Deforestation is a big problem and a good thing at the same time, just mostly a
problem. Animals do loose habitats and their natural resources such as food, homes,
and strategies to get pray because of deforestation. Deforestation occurs in
Nigeria,Indonesia , and Brazil, luckily not a lot of it happens in the U.S.A. The
only reasons why it is a good thing is because it makes paper, and furniture, and
people use it as firewood but that s no excuse to cut down many very innocent trees.
If deforestation keeps happening, which it probably will, where do tree frogs go
without trees? What about monkeys? Where do birds lay their nests? What about
humans? What about many insects? What about hunting strategies using trees? What
about animals who need to feed on trees? I think you get my point. Many habitats
are affected, the list goes on and on. One tree gives carbon dioxide for four people in
just one day. Thats a lot! Can you imagine losing lots of trees? If one tree supplies
oxygen for four people, why are we still cutting down many trees? Isn t there enough
reasons why we shouldn t cut down trees? If we keep letting all these people do this,
can you imagine

Phenomenology Of Friedrich Hegel
Gorge Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was born in the year 27th August, 1770, in Stuttgart,
Germany. He studied philosophies and classics at Tubingen. He was a tutor and an
editor and explored theology after his graduation. The Phanomenologie des Geistes
(The Phenomenology of Sprit) was his first work being published in 1807. He was
the person who propounded the Dialectical method . Which is usually in a three
stages namely thesis (giving rise to its reaction), antithesis (negates the thesis) and the
tension between thesis and the antithesis being resolved by the means of antithesis
(Sparknotes, 2005). In a simple form dialectics method can be understood as problem
to reaction and finally to solution. Hegel was influenced by other philosopher like...

Master slave dialectic is a process of negotiation and mutual interdependence. Hegel
believes that the consciousness for the Master is not an independent but a dependent
on slave. According to Hegel, both master and slave recognize their own existence
only in relation of the other. Among the many implications of the master slave
dialectic, then, is the idea of there being mutual dependence between master and slave
rather than a blanket opposition of dominance to subordination. The slave ironically
shares in the master s power because the master defines himself only in opposition to
the slave; that is, the master needs the slave in order to legitimate his comparative
The Effects Of A Single Parent Home On A Child s

The Effects on Children Who Have Been Raised in a Single Parent Household
Introduction
Single parent house hold s can have many different social, mental, and emotional
effects on the children who are raised in this kind of household. The effects of
children raised by a single parent in the household, whether it is the mother or the
father, are often negative effects. These negative effects include facing Economic
Hardship, lack of support from family, and other emotional and social distress. Stress
is a common factor of these kind of effects. Stress can affect a child and make it
hard for them to succeed in various situations that are crucial to their future. I will be
looking at research and exploring more into the effects of being raised by a single
parent.
For this paper I will be reviewing three scholarly sources on this topic; a research
strategy finding a Website, study: The Effects of a Single Parent Home on a child s
behavior by Marine Kunz published on April 15, 2015, a piece for a magazine titled
Parent Child by Lawrence Kutner, and a scholarly article journal, Negotiating
Relationships in single mother household: Perspectives of Children and Mothers by
Elizabeth Nixon, Shelia Greene and Diane M Hogan published on February of 2012.
Through my research, I will explore more upon what are the effects and the struggles
for growing children; as well as, the different effects of having only a mother or a
father present in the household. Website
Assessing The Damage Of Mountain Pine Beetle Infestation
Introduction
The objective of this study is to utilize Local indicator of spatial association
(LISA), in particular the bivariate local Moran s I, as a procedure for evaluating the
damage of mountain pine beetle infestation over vast lodgepole pine forest with GIS
and coarse scale multi temporal Aerial overview survey (AOS) data. The authors
point out beetle infestation results in commercial timber loss, increase fire risk,
habitat loss. They also point out, a growing concern of spreading beyond its historical
range. And traditional mitigation methods have been expensive and time consuming.
Therefore this study sets out to help forest managers address beetle infestation
epidemics in a cost effective and timelier manner using Moran s I risk analysis model.
The study site was located in British Columbia, Canada. The site was selected base
on its abundance of lodgepole pine; a favoured tree of the mountain pine beetle. The
area covered approximately 30 million hectares of the province 95 million hectare
land mass. The pine distribution data collected from the AOS which was 1 km
resolution raster cells where each cell is represented by the estimated percentage of
pine at the location from the years 2002 to 2006. The method was carried out in
three parts (i.e. organising data, predicting risk classes, risk rating evaluation). Firstly,
the authors prepared the data in ArcGIS where they overlaid AOS data onto
basemaps then classified the data into risk severity categories (light,
Examples Of Flaws In Antigone
Despite their flaws and mistakes , these characters never learn they are mistaken in
their choices because in reality they re choices are morally correct. A true tragic
hero would go through each phase, from being born into a noble or rich family, to
making a mistake or having a certain flaw, and to the very end realizing their
mistake or flaw. However with Antigone, Okonkwo, Paul, and Marjane there is no
true mistake or flaw. Instead, they have been right the whole time because they
have fought for the correct cause and their flaw is not a flaw but merely the
opinion of the opposing group. For example, with Antigone, her flaw was fighting
for her brothers burial because of her love for him and because it was the gods
wishes. While for Okonkwo he fought for his family s safety against the white
colonizers who would eventually be known for exploiting African people and abusing
them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each character in these stories defied a government to do what was right because no
one else could or was afraid to. This is seen with Paul when he recalls a question his
old schoolmaster would question, Won t you join up, Comrades . In this situation
Paul explains what they were told about war, to them as young men it was glorified
but also pressured to join the war. However, once the young men where at the front,
the men experience dreadful and terrifying situations. Therefore Paul realizes he, and
others, did not make the mistake but rather he was manipulated, pressured, and
exploited by their own country. Consequently, Paul is just one example of how all
character discovered the true and cruel intents of the society they lived in. Thus, Paul
like all the others fought against the corrupted system knowing the consequences but
did so in order to try and protect generations to
Physician As Gatekeeper For The Deployment Of
Telemedicine
Physician as Gatekeeper Physician engagement was identified by surveyed
participants as both the most significant enabler to increase telehealth adoption and
as greatest potential barrier to be overcome to expand telehealth services. A health
care providers decision making process to acceptance and embrace new telehealth
services is critical to improve physician engagement. Technology acceptance
describes a person s intention or voluntary adoption of a technology and user
acceptance is an important factor for successful adoption and utilization of a
technology. Whitten and Mackert have pointed out that the provider is the most
important initial gatekeeper for the deployment of telemedicine so it is critical that
program managers and telemedicine advocates develop effective engagement
strategies to enable the success of a telemedicine initiative (Whitten Mackert, 2005).
Technology Adoption Lifecycle The success of various telehealth pilots has not
scaled to large scale enterprise wide adoption across the health care ecosystem
(Zanaboni et al., 2012). In looking at technology adoption, Moore in Crossing the
Chasm details five main market segments: innovators, early adopters, early majority,
late majority and laggards. In order to expand from one market segment to the next,
the focus must start with innovators as a base for promoting technology to the next
group. Moore argues there is a chasm between the early adopters of the product
(visionaries) and the early majority
How Is Meursault Intelligent
Artificial intelligence is the perfect blend between human ingenuity, creativity, drive
and robotic purpose, persistence, and efficacy. But what happens when a human is no
more distinguishable than artificial intelligence? In Albert Camus s The Stranger, the
protagonist Meursault is a particularly bizarre character, one with seemingly no
ambitions, emotions, or passions who merely goes through the motions of living
without ever truly feeling. On the whole, he is a rather unremarkable character until
he kills a man, at which point society plays close attention to him as an oddity and
ultimately condemns him to death for the moral murder of his mother. Despite never
making an appearance, the character of Meursault s mother is a significant presence...

Through the death of Madame Meursault, Camus develops Meursault s character
and views past the initial apathy he feels towards everything. Meursault s lack of
emotions is first seen in his actions at his mother s vigil. The novel begins with
Meursault stating Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. (1) One
could try to justify this uncertainty by saying that Meursault is grieving and cannot
be expected to remember everything except that as the novel progresses, it
becomes clear that Meursault is just plain indifferent when he smokes during the
vigil because it didn t matter (10) and says his mother was fairly (16) old because
he does not know her actual age. In not knowing how old Madame Meursault was or
when she died, and in smoking when he should have been grieving, Meursault
reveals himself to be a phlegmatic character who could not care less about the fact
that his mother just passed. When he chooses to smoke at the vigil, he betrays his
own attitude about his mother s death, that it did not actually matter or faze him in
any way, a mindset typically viewed as abnormal. In a further show of idiosyncrasy,
when his mother dies, rather than expand, Meursault makes a prison of his apartment
by confining himself to one room. With Madame Meursault
My Current Field Placement As A Social Work Intern Essay
My current field placement as a social work intern is at the Family Assessment
Program (FAP). FAP is a voluntary program that aims to strengthen families and
help them stay together. FAP seeks to reduce youth s future involvement with the
juvenile justice and the child welfare system. The clienteles that FAP deals with,
are parents who are having difficulties with their teenage children and want
assistance and guidance with changing the children s behavior and developing a
positive relationship. In addition, FAP is the last step before parent files for a
Person In Need of Supervision (PINS). FAP would assess the family situation by
interviewing parents and children individually and together, they determine the best
suitable intervention for the family. If the intervention does not solve the issue or
the child refuses to participate, then the alternative is to file a PINS to control the
child s behavior. Engaging with some families, I was able to apply four concepts;
empathy, boundaries, social taboo and focused listening. In applying these concepts,
I was able to identify my obstacles, weaknesses, strengths and develop my social work
skills. The following scenarios will focus on my strategies with applying the
concepts, the obstacles I encountered and ways in which I could have improved the
concepts. Through self reflection, I was able to select four cases where I was able to
apply the above mentioned concepts.

Tsunamis In The Killing Sea By Richard Lewis
The book The Killing Sea, was created by a person named Richard Lewis, and was
based off true events of a tsunami attacking Aceh, Indonesia, on December 25, 2004.
Richard Lewis wanted to send a message towards the readers, which was, Enjoy
everything you have now, because possibly one day, everything could be taken away.
In The KillingSea, the two main characters were introduced. Ruslan, and Sarah.
Sarah is a Western white girl, who has a father, mother, and a little brother named
Peter. The two teenagers, Ruslan and Sarah, comes face to face with a tsunami,
which left them separated from their parents. Sarah s brother is in need of a doctor,
while Ruslan is on the search for his only father. Which leaves Ruslan and Sarah, to

During 2004, on December 26, a 9.1 magnitude quake tsunami struck Indonesia and
Thailand, according to BBC News. A person by the name of Richard Lewis, is a
son of an American missionary. Richard volunteered to help people in Aceh,
Indonesia after the tsunami hit, in the year 2004, which is where he saw the true
events that could happen from a tsunami. Later in life, Richard Lewis wrote the
book The Killing Sea and wanted to demonstrate a powerful message: Enjoy
everything you have now, because possibly one day, everything could be taken
away. In The Killing Sea, on page 50, the book stated, He brushed away the hair
and rock back on his heels as Tjut Sari, the beauty of the photo copy shop, stared
up at him, her black eyes no longer flashing. Ruslan thought that Tjut Sari, the
photocopy shop girl, was beautiful. In the earlier chapters of the book, it explains
how Ruslan would always try to impress Tjut Sari in any way, even if he was just
bringing in papers to copy. Now that the tsunami hit, and that killed Tjut Sari,
Ruslan is never able to express his feelings towards this girl he liked. Ruslan never
tried to make conversation with Tjut Sari, and he will never be able too in life,
because she is dead. According to an article, called How Scientists and Victims
Watched Helplessly, by Andrew C. Revkin, the article states Kalandar Umma, a 60
year old grandmother, was found clinging to the upper branches of a tree. She had no
memory of the waves or how she got there. Unfortunately, Kalendar Umma lost her
memories on the events that have just occurred. If Kalandar had children, or family
members, she will not remember these people that she lived the rest of her life with.
Which brings in the message. Later on in life, possibly something bad can happen,
and that happened to Kalander. Kalander lost her memory, and all the events that
happened to her long ago, and probably forgotten forever. More importantly, Richard
Cave Paintings Essay
Creating art is one of the single defining factors that set humans apart from animal
species. Through art, humans are able to express their innermost ideas and feelings,
without having the difficulty of trying to find the correct words to accurately
describe their thought processes. Works of art can help us to understand the people
who have come before us. This is evidenced by the knowledge humans have
discovered of prehistoric men and their symbolic cave paintings. The expression,
style, and meaning vary and archaeologists put in much effort to uncover these
works. The first evidence of cave art appeared in Western Europe (Berenguer 67).
Early cave paintings were characteristic of Western art. They were supported by an

It is often found to be extremely animalistic. The animals most commonly depicted
are horses, deer, reindeer, bison, ipex, aurochs, woolly rhinoceroses, and
mammoths. Sometimes lions and bears are also created, but rarely fish or birds.
Humans were also commonly represented (Berenguer 73). Prehistoric men also
created abstract designs that have proven hard to identify. They are referred to as
signs and a special nomenclature has been developed to better understand their
meaning. Tectiforms are generally quadrangular shapes, with crossing vertical lines
inside forming a trellis or mesh design. Tectiforms often appear near naturalistic
figures of animals. Scutiforms have been thought to represent the female vulva.
They are formed by red patches, often in the form of a comma or a key. Other types
of signs are penniforms, ramiforms, and claviforms. The exact meanings of most of
these signs remain unknown (Berenguer 82). The French scholar Leroi Gourhan
formed a theory regarding the animalistic and abstract art representations. He
believed all depictions revolved around the law of sex, noting that the philosophy of
the prehistoric men concentrated all explanations on sex and sexual relations. Cave
art depictions of animals are divided into male and female. The male animals are
horses, she goats, and deer. Bison, bovidae, and mammoths are female. The signs are
also divided into gender categories. Triangles, rectangles, ramiforms, tectiforms, and
scutiforms are
The Case Of Correctional Officers
Let me out! Let me out! I do not belong here, says the predator in the cell. This is
something correctional officers hear often. During duty they have many
responsibilities and tasks they have to accomplish. The officer has to get everything
done while being careful and not jeopardizing their safety. They run under a lot of
stress trying to keep these criminals locked up and away from the civilians.
Correctional officers put their life on the line in order to protect civilians and keep
predators behind bars.
Officers have always been around maybe they were not referred to as a correctional
officer maybe they were referred to as guards supervising the dungeons, cells, or even
jails. These facilities were brought under one central authority in Connecticut, the first
in the nation. The Department of Correction in Connecticut was the first to bring
young adults and adult institutions in the same central authority. This department is
one of a few agencies to put together a system of jails for prisoners before their trial
and prisons for offenders that have already been sentenced. Connecticut s first
correctional system started in the Old Newgate prison located in East Granby, which
was used as a copper mine in 1705 ( Doc: History Department ). In the twenty first
century penal institutions have improved especially in correctional facilities to
improve security and reduce the risks of inmates from escaping. Their duty as an
officer is to examine anything that the inmates could
Alternative Cars And Its Effect On The Environment
Background Conventional vehicles burn fossil fuels and emit exhaust fumes to the
atmosphere. Not only have gasoline vehicles depleted natural resources, they also
have caused severe environmental pollutions, especially in some populous nations
such as China and India. [1] CO2 is the main contributor of the greenhouse effect.
97% of greenhouse emission is carbon dioxide. And in turn, road transportation has
become the largest sector in producing carbon dioxide. [2] Because of the decreasing
natural resources and the increasing environmental pollution, scientists focus more on
new technologies that can help reduce those consequences. However, even though
scientists hope hybrid cars could substitute traditional cars in order to reduce... Show

The most apparent difference is that hybrid cars have an internal combustion engine
accompanied by an electric motor. When a car is moving at a low speed, the ICE
(internal combustion engine) only provides power to the electric motor and the
motor drives the entire vehicle. Thus, an electric motor helps reduce fuel
consumption as well as car emission. Moreover, a smarter management of power
called the regenerative braking system is introduced to hybrid vehicles. It converts
kinetic energy to electrical energy during braking so that heat energy due to
friction will not be wasted. The electrical energy can be used to charge the storage
battery. [4] In addition, the aerodynamics and weight of the car body are carefully
considered so the power supplied to drive the car can be lower than usual. Hybrid
cars also have an adaptive strategy at traffic stops and idle periods. The engine shuts
down so that exhaust will not accumulate at places such as traffic stops.
Apart from technical aspects, governments also take efforts to popularize hybrid
cars for home use. In March 2013, the Chinese government extended the subsidy on
electrical and hybrid cars for three more years. [3] And in certain traffic crowded
cities such as Beijing and Hangzhou, electrical and hybrid cars have privileges on
traffic restriction days. Nevertheless, customers still won t buy hybrid cars because
they do not believe that the technology is mature enough to replace traditional ICE
cars with new energy
Woodrow Wilson Accomplishments
To be wise is to have more than just knowledge, it is also to have experience and
good judgment. Woodrow Wilson, the 28th president of the United States of
America, used each of these traits to further his dream of world peace. During his
presidency, Wilson dealt with a world at war. He struggled to keep America out of
a conflict that it did not start. Yet, when the people of America were becoming
threatened, Wilson decided to join World War I. Even as Americans were starting
to join the fight Wilson was able to look ahead to when the conflict would end. He
knew that America could secure peace not only for those in Europe but for those
who were yet unborn. Wilson s wisdom and knowledge allowed him to find a better
way towards peace through his Fourteen Points of peace and the founding of the
League of Nations. These achievements are why Woodrow Wilsonis... Show more

While president, he acquired renown through many books and essays that he
published. At this time in his life, Wilson had given up the prospect of working in
politics, but that changed when he was approached by representatives of the New
Jersey Democratic Party. They offered him the nomination for governor of the state
in 1910 and he promptly accepted. He was finally able to apply some of his
knowledge of government that he had learned in college. This in turn gave him
wisdom through experience. After serving as governor for about a year, Wilson
caught the eye of William Bryan, the leader of the Democratic Party. Seeing
promise in the new governor, Bryan decided to let Wilson be one of the Democratic
nominations for president. He won the nomination and also went on to win the
election as well. In just a few short years, Wilson went from being a college
professor to the president of the United States of America. Wilson must have been
proud but one has to wonder if he eventually regretted being

The Market For A Car
You re in the market for a car, but just not any vehicle. Specifically, you re hemmed
in by budget restrictions and can spend no more than $5,000, perhaps much less.
The reality of the used car market is that even clunkers can cost a few thousand
dollars and that s exactly the type of vehicle you want to avoid. However, with
some careful research on your part, much patience, as well as satisfactory
negotiation skills, you can find a used car for under $5,000. Here s how to do it.
Manage Your Expectations
You might have a certain make and model in mind when choosing a reliable, low
cost used car, but your expectations should align with market realities. And those
realities will be confirmed when you shop for a car, study the ads, and research the
car valuation sites.
First, you should know that car values fluctuate. Indeed, in times when gas prices
are high, values of economical cars rise and those for large sedans, SUVs and
pickup trucks drop. Conversely, the opposite happens when fuel prices are low.
Second, the more particular you are about a brand, especially premium or luxury
brands, the more costly a vehicle will be. You may have your eyes set on a BMW, but
even a 3 Series approaching 20 years old will cost you. The reliability of an older
vehicle becomes an issue; acquiring parts for some foreign models can be pricey.
Technology is a State of Mind
Very few cars that are less than 10 years old can be had for $5,000 or less. Some
compact models or high mileage

(France s public deficit= 8% of its GDP, USA=9.9% /References 3 4). The welfare
systems are being strained and this creates a climate of fear. A recent example would
be the reform of the retirement pensions in France and Greece, which both led to
major strikes.
However, while governments are trying to cut down on expenses, they are also
trying to increase their revenues through taxes. Barack Obama for instance proposes
$989 billion in new taxes over the course of the next 10 years, and most of these
taxes are directly related to individuals (Reference 5). Therefore, this will seriously
affect the buying power of consumers, and we can expect consequences in the
hospitality industry.
Another major political trend which is emerging notably, because of the unhappy
electorates, is a movement towards extremism from most political parties, who are
trying to satisfy people who are still afraid of the economic recession, the outsourcing
of jobs or the terrorist threat for example. The success of the extreme right wing in
Sweden recently is a good illustration of this phenomenon.
Economic Analysis
From studying the economic growth we can see that the general trend changed
from an increase of 3.1% for OCDE countries in 2006, to 2.7% in 2007, which
followed with a drop in 2008, and with the recession proceeded with a percentage of
0.3% in 2009 ( 3.4%)(Reference 6).
This drastic decrease was a result of the subprime crisis, which impacted the current
Postmodernism s The Swan As A Metaphor For Love
Postmodernism is a very unique era within American literature. In previous time
periods authors wrote very structured eventful stories that would often relate to the
most common themes of the time, however Postmodernism completely defied this
formula. In most cases Postmodern stories do not have story arcs nor do they have
common themes. At most, the Post era can be bound by very vague similarities.
Most of the stories are conveyed through streams of conscious, which is essentially
using an unedited snippet of someone s life to create a story. There are no inner
monologues or poetic speeches, rather they only showcase a small scale continuous
sliver of life. The narration device similarity is cut and dry, however this can not be
said for the themes within Postmodernism. In the vaguest of words, Post era
literature can be bound within a common ideal of expressing the terrible and
disappointing aspects of life. One of the most commonly attacked aspects of life is
the sense of love. In most forms of art and media love is portrayed as a glorious
thing so long as it is true. Love can conquer any mountain and defeat any foe,
however Postmodernism portrays love in a very different manner. In The Swan as
a Metaphor for Love love is compared to a swan. On the surface swans are seen as
majestic creatures, similar to how love is seen as a beautiful emotion, but underneath
the water swans are revolting creatures covered in swan shit and pond scum . This
idea that a normal life

that may cause someone to be diagnosed with substance abuse disorder. Some of
those things include: marijuana, alcohol, stimulants(cocaine and amphetamines),
Hallucinogens, Inhalants, sedatives, and even nicotine. Even though some people
may not see some of these things as things that may become addicting they are. More
and more people are becoming addicted to the smallest things such as alcohol. For
hundreds and thousands of American citizens alcoholism is become far too common.

Additionally, like many other drug abusers, alcoholics often drink hoping to drown
anxious or depressed feelings. Some alcoholics drink to reduce strong inhibitions or
guilt about expressing negative feelings.
Social and cultural factors play roles in to establishing drinking patterns and the
development of alcoholism. In some cultures, there is conflict between abstaining
and accepting the use of alcohol as a way to change moods or to be social, thus
making it difficult for some people to develop stable attitudes about and moderate
patterns of drinking. Society tends to aid in the development of alcoholism by
making alcohol seem glamorous, showing that by drinking, you will become more
popular, more glamorous and more worthy of respects from others.
The physical effects of alcoholism are somewhat gruesome. Excessive in take and
prolonged use of alcohol can cause serious disturbances in body chemistry
Many alcoholics exhibit swollen and tender livers. The prolonged use of large
amounts of alcoholism without adequate diet may cause serious liver damage, such
as cirrhosis of the liver (McCarthy 505). Alcoholism also causes loss of muscular

The condition delirium tremens, known primarily to heavy drinkers, causes
hallucinations along with loss of control of muscular functioning. When this

Oil Change In A Car Essay
Have you ever wondered how to do an oil change in your car? While there are
different makes and model of cars, for example, Honda, Toyota, Ford, BMW, etc.
All the cars have an engine which varies in size, the engines of the cars are count
in cylinders some cars have four, six, eight, or even twelve cylinders. The more
cylinders a car has, the more engine oil it requires. For example, a four cylindercar
will take four to six quarts of engine oil. Doing an oil change can be an easy task,
and I m going to show you how, all you need the right tools, adequate engine oil, and
engine oil filter. Motor oilis very important for your engine to run properly and last a
long time.
First, take a trip to your local auto parts give them the information of your car
make, model, year, and engine size. Next, ask for engine oil and oil filter.
Sometimes they have discounts on engine oil that comes with a filter. They will tell
you how much oil and which oil filter your car requires, most of the time they have
the tools you need to do an oil change. Keep in mind that there are different types of
motor oil like full synthetic oil, higher mileage oil, and synthetic blend oil. Made
sure and ask questions of which oil is better for your car.
Second, let your car get to running temperature, there is a gauge with a needle on

K means algorithm is widely used and famous algorithm for analysis of clusters. In
this algorithm, n number of data points are divided into k clusters based on some
similarity measurement criterion. K Means Algorithm has fast speed and thus is used
commonly clustering algorithm. Vector quantization, cluster analysis, feature learning

Advantages Of Outsourcing And Outsourcing
Introduction
In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone which enabled people to
communicate with one another in an efficient manner. Since then technology has
advanced at a rapid pace allowing people to be more connected than ever before. For
example, a person working for Pepsi Co in Houston can easily connect with their
counterpart in London or Mumbai. The invention of the internet has allowed business
to communicate across the world within seconds thus creating a global economy that
depends on one another.
Globalization is defined as the process of international integration arising from the
interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture. A global
economy allows companies to source their product or service from around the world.
This enables business by giving them more options and resources to grow their
business. However, globalization comes with its own set of questions and problems.
Companies that do business worldwide have to constantly deal with shipping,
customs, politics, and cultural barriers. This paper will be centered on the advantages
and disadvantages of offshoring and outsourcing. Furthermore, we will discuss some
of the factors and trends that are affecting offshoring and outsourcing.
Outsourcing vs. Offshoring
In order to understand globalization, we have to first learn about some of the
common misconceptions. The terms outsourcing and offshoring are used almost
synonymously in today s literature, however, there

Government
Parliament: The national legislature of England is called Parliament. It first started
as the Model Parliament, under the reign of Edward I in 1295. It was comprised of
all the lords, knights, and leading citizens of the towns. They advised King Edward,
and voted on taxes and laws. As time went on, the knights and burgess gained an
official title in parliament, known as Members of the House of Commons, the lower
house members. The Nobles and bishops gained the upper house as their own,
known as the House of Lords. No one elected these members, but they created a new
precedent for representation. Between these two houses, the House of the Lords
started as the more powerful body, until the House of Commons was anointed the
official power to control taxation.
Social Contract: John Locke wrote in his famous treatise that government has a social
contract with their citizens. This social contract is a unwritten commitment between
the government and citizens saying that the government will receive its power from
the peoples commitment to the government. In exchange for giving up individual
choice, they will benefit from their protection and unity together as one. Without the

A Personal Research Paper on SAS Advanced Analytics
Fact and data based decision making is a crucial element for success in today s ultra
competitive business world. Many companies employ a multitude of analysts and
statisticians to gather, organize and evaluate the mounds of data collected through
various information systems. Late into the twentieth century companies finally halted
the ancient ritual of storing data in basement file cabinets and began to rely on
information technology systems to store enormous amounts of data on computer
servers. Large amounts of data was being collected and stored but businesses
lacked an effective way to utilize the data. During the same time period, numerous
emerging technologies in computer science promised to enable the practical use of
large amounts of data. SAS, originally referred to as Statistical Analysis Systems,
is a company whose purpose is to create a way for users of its technology to access
and utilize large amounts of data for analytical decision making. SAS has made this
possible through the creation of variety products and services that can manage a
business s data and customize its statistical analysis to improve business performance.

Abstract Decades ago ultrasound started the participation in medical therapy, these
years have yielded diverse applications and methods that play main roles in patients
treatment. This review presents some of the mechanisms, methods, and applications
of therapeutic ultrasound.
Keywords: Ultrasound; therapy; biomedical.
I.INTRODUCTION
A lot of people think about ultrasound as a diagnostic technology and they don t
release the effective role of ultrasound in therapy. In 1927 biological changes have
been observed during ultrasound interaction with tissues [1], this observation
attracted the attention of scientists and researchers opening their eyes on the
possibility of using ultrasound as a therapeutic technology [2].
Ultrasound have two mechanisms to cause biological changes, the first is thermal
effect where the absorbed energy raise the tissues temperature for therapeutic
purpose [2] [3]. The second is non thermal mechanism where the cyclic or non cyclic
waves or pulses will help in some applications [2] [3].
Therapeutic ultrasound divides into two classes, high power and low power. The high
power therapy operates with intensity more than 5 W/cm2 and this area s applications
include lithotripsy and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) [3] [4]. On the other
hand, the low power intensity (0.125
How Does Atticus Show Wisdom In To Kill A Mockingbird
Wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the
quality of being wise. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, there is one character
who shows a tremendous amount of wisdom. Atticus shows his wisdom
throughout the story by teaching Scout how to be young wise girl and teaching
her how to read and write. Shows Jem how to be wise and knowledgeable , and
shows it in the defending of Tom Robinson. As Atticus once advised me to do, I
tried to climb into Jem s skin and walk around in it . Said Scout (Lee, 57). That s
good advice to give to a young girl that s just getting to know what life is about. It
says that Scout would never consider going over to the Radley house because she
would be too scared, so she has no understanding of what Jem feels like. If you ll
concede the necessity of going to school, we ll go on reading every night just as we
always have. Said Atticus to Scout (Lee, 31). Atticus wants Scout to keep going to
school, so she can get the education that he never got. Atticus didn t go to school

Disadvantages Of Caadmium
All of us are well acquainted with the fact that cadmium (Cd) is one of the
components of the earth s crust and it will remain present in several places or in
different ecosystem on earth i.e., terrestrial, aquatic and others. Benavides et al.
(2005) reported that cadmium is one of the most hazardous heavy metals in the
atmosphere, soil and aquatic system which is finally going into our food chain and
responsible for serious environmental problem and finally leading to the health
hazards for the living organism, for instance, mutagenesis, lung cancer, convulsion
and brain damage. The alleviation or inhibition of cadmiumin plants has, therefore,

Cadmium and cadmium compounds are, compared to other heavy metals, relatively
water soluble and mobile compound in most soils, generally more bio available and
tends to bio accumulate. It induces cell injury and death by interfering with calcium
(Ca) regulation in biological system. Cadmium is not essential for plant or animal
life (IPCS monographs/WHO1995a; WHO1995b). It is more mobile than zinc but
less mobile than nickel. Cadmium is readily accumulated by many organisms,
particularly by microorganism and mollusks where the bio concentration factors are
in the order of thousands. Its mobility essentially depends on the pH; the metal s
adsorption to the soil s solid phase can be multiplied threefold for every unitary
increase in pH in a range from 4 to 8. Terrestrial plants may accumulate cadmium in
the roots and cadmium is found bound to the cell walls (AMAP 2002). The pH
level is one of the most important factors controlling cadmium absorption. Compared
with other micropolluants such as Cu or Pb, transfer of Cd to the above ground parts

Consequences Of Malingering
Malingering. Malingering is the intentional production of false or grossly
exaggerated physical or psychological symptoms in order to gain some external
incentive (American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Defensiveness on the other
hand, is defined as serving to defend or protect. When it comes to malingering
though, it is hard to have a promising answer in the end. The DSM does supply a
list of which you can, more than likely, suspect malingering but it does not give a
proper route to positively state if it is actually malingering. Mental illness can come
into play but it is not considered a mutually exclusive phenomenon with malingering.
For instance, a person can have depression but feels the need to exaggerate it to get

there was such test for malingering in the 90s. Just imagine how many people got

What started out as conversation between friends on a night out in 2012 turned out to
stimulate a growing business of exciting and creative services in the U.K.
Introduction
The startup industry is a complex concept, which many experts from various field of
economy, sociology, psychology and sciences have tried to define. Despite all efforts,
no consensus has been reached regarding the boundaries of the definition of
entrepreneurship.
Desire to study the field of entrepreneurship is a strong willingness and motivation to
create a new venture. The idea is to create a distribution firm,
This reality influenced the authors not only to study the field of entrepreneurship
following a general and theoretical approach, but to focus on the obstacles women
encounter when engaging in entrepreneurship. .At this point the authors questioned
themselves: What are the obstacles and risks women face when entering
entrepreneurship? Finding the answer to this question will become the base for
concretizing the business idea through a business plan. This leads the authors to raise

The Characters Of Life And Death In William Shakespeare
s...
Rough Draft
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare death is constantly used to demonstrate
the attributes of characters to the audience. In this play the protagonist, Hamlet, is set
on a course to exact revenge on his treacherous uncle who murdered his father, the
king, by a Ghost. In this quest Hamlet puts on a mask of madness when speaking with
anyone that he cannot trust entirely and will stop at nothing until he gets vengeance.
Within act 5 scene 1 Hamlet sees the skull of an old friend who he knew as a boy,
which drastically alters his outlook on life and death. These thoughts contrast
greatly with his earlier thoughts and those of other characters that are less
sensitive to death. When Hamlet picks up Yorick s skull (5.1.186) immediately his
mindset changes and the audience is clearly shown two different sides of Hamlet.
When Hamlet first approached the Grave Digger it was merely in disgust of how
he handled himself while digging graves. Yet when Hamlet is introduced to
Yorick, again, after he has lain in the earth for 3 and twenty years (5.1.175 76)
Hamlet is forthwith to remember Yorick as a man and not just a pile of dirt and
bone (5.1.187 199) where the audience is shown that Hamlet is still emotional
towards death. However, quickly the nostalgia of seeing his old friend wears off, and
Hamlet gets and epiphany to which he inquires, To what base uses we may return,
Horatio! Why may not imagination trace the noble dust of Alexander, till he find it
Origin And Themes Of Popular Soccer Chants
Devin Reddy USSO290Z: Soccer: The Global Game 20 November 2016 Origin
and Themes of Popular Soccer Chants The lyrics Walk on, Walk on, With hope in
your hearts are belted out by a sea of red as a Liverpool match is about to start.
Even though the intonation of the singing might make a choral director cringe,
there is no doubt that everyone wearing Liverpool s red jersey knows every word
to the song. Sung in unison, the undeniable passion of Liverpool s fans is
overwhelming, when they wear their club s crest and colors on their chest and
recite their anthem with their voice. This sort of chanting and singing is mainstay
in European football, almost as central to the sport as the ball itself. Here, I will
define chanting as the reciting or singing a tune or song, often with changed lyrics
with respect to the original version of the song, in order to evoke or convey
emotions. The term chanting will encompass not only explicitly chanting, but
singing and warbling as well, specifically pertaining to European football.
Showcasing the power and unity of that club s fans, chanting can be used for a
variety of purposes, such as supporting their own club, celebrating after a goal, or
even intimidating the opposing club. Some chants, such as Liverpool FC s You ll
Never Walk Alone, may be passed down through generations of fans, engrained in
that club s identity. However, there are many others which are based off of popular
music of the time, which come and go, just as popular

Unlike interpersonal psychotherapy, with the use of medication, CBT attains
several forms of intervention and models that can be used for certain situations.
These forms are tailored not only to the affected patient but also toward the patient
s family. There is therapy for the perfect, overprotective, and chaotic family. These
forms all have specifics that set their therapeutic sessions apart, but are similar in
that they all begin with a technique called joining. Joining is basically an
establishment of alliance between the therapist and the family (Killian). Therapists
are advised to discover how the family members feel toward the problem in this
situation. A way of ensuring family involvement would be to set specific guidelines
about the affect patient s behavior and the family s reactions toward the behavior.
For example, a therapist may initiate a plan in which the patient must be responsible
for replacing the family food in which he/she binges on. This activity will enhance
the removal of the rest of the family to be in constant fear for the patient; it will also
allow the patient to begin to regain control of one aspect of his/her life. Common
goals within this type of family include regulation of emotional availability between
the parent(s) and the bulimic patient, facilitation of direct communication, and
negotiation of conflict and its resolution (Killian). Besides interventions, there are
also models that can be used to deal
Rousseau Snapshot In Time
What can be painted in self portraits is a snapshot in time, and therefore limited in
nature to the story that it can tell. Conversely, the written word is limitless in nature,
and the length of the autobiography is therefore limitless as well and thus can
provide a much more thorough examination of self and portrayal of self to others.
Sometimes a self portrait is a statement of how the artist wants to be seen and
remembered. Sometimes it s how the artist sees himself. Sometimes they provide a
unique perspective that can provide physicians or other medical professionals with
psychological, psychiatric or neurologic insights into the artists through their
physical renderings. In each case, it is a snapshot in time. On the other hand, the
written word, as in an autobiography, is often a chronological accounting of events
that takes place over the course of several journals. As in the case of Rousseau s
Confessions , it was two distinct works, each part consisting of six books. The
events described in Rousseau s Confessions should not be taken as gospel, for the
human memory is fallible much as some would like to believe otherwise. There is
no doubt however that Rousseau s feelings on the matters he described were as true
as he could make them. This showed that he made a valiant attempt to stay true to his
own philosophy of humans being fundamentally good by remaining as honest as he
feasibly could in his autobiography. In contrast ... Show more content on

You can look upon Rembrandt Van Rijn s self portrait, 1640, or Frida Kahlo s self
portrait, c.1938, and know next to nothing about their lives. A written autobiography

Stereotypes Of Life After Death
Death is all around us; it could arrive to anyone at any time. It can happen in
different ways, whether it is diseases, allergies or car accidents. Most people
approaching the death stage try to avoid the thought of dying because of fear. Some
people of religious backgrounds have different opinions about death. Some accept
that there is a place reserved for them in heaven right after death, others believe they
will reincarnate. Those are the strong believers; if they are a religious person they
might believe in only our souls will last forever. However, others fear death because
of the pain of death itself, the uncertainty of what will happen to them after death, and
the concern for those people and things they will leave behind. Anyone
Forshadowing And Foreshadowing In Crash By Paul Haggis
Inevitable tragedy and sorrow is foreshadowed by Paul Haggis in his film Crash to
heighten their significance to the audience. Foreshadowing of inevitable tragedy and
sorrow is first seen during one of the initial scenes, which interrupts the process of
Persian man (Fahad) and his daughter (Dorri) buying a firearm. Firearms are a
symbol of violence and the purchase of the weapon, foreshadows something terrible
to later come. The next use of foreshadowing, came from the invisible cloak scene
between Daniel and his young daughter (Lara). During this scene, Daniel comes
home to find his daughter hiding under her bed, frightened of gunshots heard because
of past encounters. To comfort his daughter Daniel conceives an imaginary bulletproof

Christopher statuettes. As St. Christopher is known as the patron saint of travels,
these statuettes in culture are typically placed on car dashboards and carried with
one. As a representation of faith, in the belief of divine power to protect oneself with
safe travel. In the film the statuettes most powerfully connect with run away now
gangster/hijacker Peter Waters. Each time after hijacking a car, he places his statuette
on the dashboard, for Peter his statuette and this act represents his good will and
nature as a person with strong faith, even though he commits felony. Here, the
audience sees that the role of gangster doesn t fit his personality. Later in the film,
during the ending events, Tom Hansen picks up the hitchhiking Peter. Onwards,
while in the car Peter on reflex looks to the dashboard and surprisingly notices
Hansen s St. Christopher statuette there, from which he begins chuckling at.
Something else funny? Oh yeah. So, what s that? Just people, man . As for Peter
seeing the statuette was a humorous reminder of himself and the faith that people
share. For the audience, this moment has deep meaning showing the connection of
faith between the two characters. Unfortunately, however Hansen is the only one to
not understand the situation and from misunderstanding combined with racial
stereotyping, he ends up shooting Peter to death. The impact of Peters death has a
huge effect on the audience, a good willed man of faith and

Thermal Pollution Essay

  • 1. Thermal Pollution Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of thermal pollution presents a unique set of challenges. First and foremost, comprehending the intricate details of thermal pollution and its multifaceted impacts on ecosystems demands a comprehensive understanding of environmental science and related disciplines. The researcher must delve into the realms of thermodynamics, hydrodynamics, and environmental engineering to grasp the intricacies involved. Moreover, the essay requires a balanced approach, addressing both the scientific aspects and the real-world consequences of thermal pollution. It involves exploring the effects on aquatic ecosystems, the alteration of water temperatures, and the subsequent disturbance of aquatic life. This necessitates sifting through copious amounts of scientific literature, case studies, and environmental reports to construct a well-informed and persuasive argument. However, the challenge extends beyond comprehending the scientific nuances. Effectively communicating these complex concepts to a diverse audience with varying levels of scientific literacy is another hurdle. Striking the right balance between technical jargon and layman terms becomes crucial to ensure that the essay remains accessible while maintaining its academic rigor. In addition, assembling a coherent and structured narrative poses its own set of difficulties. The essay must flow logically, transitioning smoothly from one point to the next, while maintaining a clear thesis throughout. The introduction needs to captivate the reader's attention, the body should present a comprehensive exploration of the topic, and the conclusion must leave a lasting impact. Furthermore, the essay must be underpinned by rigorous research, with accurate citations and references. Given the evolving nature of environmental science, staying abreast of the latest research findings and incorporating them into the essay adds another layer of complexity. In conclusion, crafting an essay on thermal pollution requires not only a deep understanding of the scientific principles involved but also the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner. It demands meticulous research, careful structuring, and an adept communication of ideas. Nevertheless, with dedication and the right resources, navigating these challenges can lead to a well-crafted and impactful piece of writing. If you find yourself overwhelmed by such tasks, professional assistance is available. Similar essays and a variety of writing services can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, providing a helping hand in navigating the complexities of academic writing. • 3. Deforestation Problems Deforestation Deforestation is a very big problem in our world, that not lot of people are worried about, it s that s causing many issues in our environment and issues for lots of animals. Deforestation is when people cut down trees to get wood for building and papermaking, and to burn firewood. They also clear land for crops to grow and animals to graze. Many animal habitats are suffering because of us humans! Keep reading to see how many problems deforestation is doing to our woods, jungles, and other places on our planet earth. The most dramatic impact is a big loss of habitat for millions of species. Eighty percent of Earth s land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes. Deforestation also drives climate change in many countries. Deforestation is a big problem and a good thing at the same time, just mostly a problem. Animals do loose habitats and their natural resources such as food, homes, and strategies to get pray because of deforestation. Deforestation occurs in Nigeria,Indonesia , and Brazil, luckily not a lot of it happens in the U.S.A. The only reasons why it is a good thing is because it makes paper, and furniture, and people use it as firewood but that s no excuse to cut down many very innocent trees. If deforestation keeps happening, which it probably will, where do tree frogs go without trees? What about monkeys? Where do birds lay their nests? What about humans? What about many insects? What about hunting strategies using trees? What about animals who need to feed on trees? I think you get my point. Many habitats are affected, the list goes on and on. One tree gives carbon dioxide for four people in just one day. Thats a lot! Can you imagine losing lots of trees? If one tree supplies oxygen for four people, why are we still cutting down many trees? Isn t there enough reasons why we shouldn t cut down trees? If we keep letting all these people do this, can you imagine Deforestation Deforestation is a very big problem in our world, that not lot of people are worried about, it s that s causing many issues in our environment and issues for lots of animals. • 4. Phenomenology Of Friedrich Hegel Gorge Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was born in the year 27th August, 1770, in Stuttgart, Germany. He studied philosophies and classics at Tubingen. He was a tutor and an editor and explored theology after his graduation. The Phanomenologie des Geistes (The Phenomenology of Sprit) was his first work being published in 1807. He was the person who propounded the Dialectical method . Which is usually in a three stages namely thesis (giving rise to its reaction), antithesis (negates the thesis) and the tension between thesis and the antithesis being resolved by the means of antithesis (Sparknotes, 2005). In a simple form dialectics method can be understood as problem to reaction and finally to solution. Hegel was influenced by other philosopher like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Master slave dialectic is a process of negotiation and mutual interdependence. Hegel believes that the consciousness for the Master is not an independent but a dependent on slave. According to Hegel, both master and slave recognize their own existence only in relation of the other. Among the many implications of the master slave dialectic, then, is the idea of there being mutual dependence between master and slave rather than a blanket opposition of dominance to subordination. The slave ironically shares in the master s power because the master defines himself only in opposition to the slave; that is, the master needs the slave in order to legitimate his comparative

The Effects on Children Who Have Been Raised in a Single Parent Household Introduction Single parent house hold s can have many different social, mental, and emotional effects on the children who are raised in this kind of household. The effects of children raised by a single parent in the household, whether it is the mother or the father, are often negative effects. These negative effects include facing Economic Hardship, lack of support from family, and other emotional and social distress. Stress is a common factor of these kind of effects. Stress can affect a child and make it hard for them to succeed in various situations that are crucial to their future. I will be looking at research and exploring more into the effects of being raised by a single parent. For this paper I will be reviewing three scholarly sources on this topic; a research strategy finding a Website, study: The Effects of a Single Parent Home on a child s behavior by Marine Kunz published on April 15, 2015, a piece for a magazine titled Parent Child by Lawrence Kutner, and a scholarly article journal, Negotiating Relationships in single mother household: Perspectives of Children and Mothers by Elizabeth Nixon, Shelia Greene and Diane M Hogan published on February of 2012. • 6. Assessing The Damage Of Mountain Pine Beetle Infestation Introduction The objective of this study is to utilize Local indicator of spatial association (LISA), in particular the bivariate local Moran s I, as a procedure for evaluating the damage of mountain pine beetle infestation over vast lodgepole pine forest with GIS and coarse scale multi temporal Aerial overview survey (AOS) data. The authors point out beetle infestation results in commercial timber loss, increase fire risk, habitat loss. They also point out, a growing concern of spreading beyond its historical range. And traditional mitigation methods have been expensive and time consuming. Therefore this study sets out to help forest managers address beetle infestation epidemics in a cost effective and timelier manner using Moran s I risk analysis model. The study site was located in British Columbia, Canada. The site was selected base on its abundance of lodgepole pine; a favoured tree of the mountain pine beetle. The area covered approximately 30 million hectares of the province 95 million hectare land mass. The pine distribution data collected from the AOS which was 1 km resolution raster cells where each cell is represented by the estimated percentage of pine at the location from the years 2002 to 2006. The method was carried out in three parts (i.e. organising data, predicting risk classes, risk rating evaluation). Firstly, the authors prepared the data in ArcGIS where they overlaid AOS data onto basemaps then classified the data into risk severity categories (light,
  • 7. Examples Of Flaws In Antigone Despite their flaws and mistakes , these characters never learn they are mistaken in their choices because in reality they re choices are morally correct. A true tragic hero would go through each phase, from being born into a noble or rich family, to making a mistake or having a certain flaw, and to the very end realizing their mistake or flaw. However with Antigone, Okonkwo, Paul, and Marjane there is no true mistake or flaw. Instead, they have been right the whole time because they have fought for the correct cause and their flaw is not a flaw but merely the opinion of the opposing group. For example, with Antigone, her flaw was fighting for her brothers burial because of her love for him and because it was the gods wishes. While for Okonkwo he fought for his family s safety against the white colonizers who would eventually be known for exploiting African people and abusing them.... This is seen with Paul when he recalls a question his old schoolmaster would question, Won t you join up, Comrades . However, once the young men where at the front, the men experience dreadful and terrifying situations. Therefore Paul realizes he, and others, did not make the mistake but rather he was manipulated, pressured, and exploited by their own country. Consequently, Paul is just one example of how all character discovered the true and cruel intents of the society they lived in. Thus, Paul like all the others fought against the corrupted system knowing the consequences but did so in order to try and protect generations to
  • 8. Physician As Gatekeeper For The Deployment Of Telemedicine Physician as Gatekeeper Physician engagement was identified by surveyed participants as both the most significant enabler to increase telehealth adoption and as greatest potential barrier to be overcome to expand telehealth services. A health care providers decision making process to acceptance and embrace new telehealth services is critical to improve physician engagement. Technology acceptance describes a person s intention or voluntary adoption of a technology and user acceptance is an important factor for successful adoption and utilization of a technology. Whitten and Mackert have pointed out that the provider is the most important initial gatekeeper for the deployment of telemedicine so it is critical that program managers and telemedicine advocates develop effective engagement strategies to enable the success of a telemedicine initiative (Whitten Mackert, 2005). Technology Adoption Lifecycle The success of various telehealth pilots has not scaled to large scale enterprise wide adoption across the health care ecosystem (Zanaboni et al., 2012). In looking at technology adoption, Moore in Crossing the Chasm details five main market segments: innovators, early adopters, early majority, late majority and laggards. In order to expand from one market segment to the next, the focus must start with innovators as a base for promoting technology to the next group. Moore argues there is a chasm between the early adopters of the product (visionaries) and the early majority
  • 9. How Is Meursault Intelligent Artificial intelligence is the perfect blend between human ingenuity, creativity, drive and robotic purpose, persistence, and efficacy. But what happens when a human is no more distinguishable than artificial intelligence? In Albert Camus s The Stranger, the protagonist Meursault is a particularly bizarre character, one with seemingly no ambitions, emotions, or passions who merely goes through the motions of living without ever truly feeling. On the whole, he is a rather unremarkable character until he kills a man, at which point society plays close attention to him as an oddity and ultimately condemns him to death for the moral murder of his mother. Despite never making an appearance, the character of Meursault s mother is a significant presence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the death of Madame Meursault, Camus develops Meursault s character and views past the initial apathy he feels towards everything. Meursault s lack of emotions is first seen in his actions at his mother s vigil. The novel begins with Meursault stating Maman died today. Or yesterday maybe, I don t know. (1) One could try to justify this uncertainty by saying that Meursault is grieving and cannot be expected to remember everything except that as the novel progresses, it becomes clear that Meursault is just plain indifferent when he smokes during the vigil because it didn t matter (10) and says his mother was fairly (16) old because he does not know her actual age. In not knowing how old Madame Meursault was or when she died, and in smoking when he should have been grieving, Meursault reveals himself to be a phlegmatic character who could not care less about the fact that his mother just passed. When he chooses to smoke at the vigil, he betrays his own attitude about his mother s death, that it did not actually matter or faze him in any way, a mindset typically viewed as abnormal. In a further show of idiosyncrasy, when his mother dies, rather than expand, Meursault makes a prison of his apartment by confining himself to one room. With Madame Meursault
  • 10. My Current Field Placement As A Social Work Intern Essay My current field placement as a social work intern is at the Family Assessment Program (FAP). FAP is a voluntary program that aims to strengthen families and help them stay together. FAP seeks to reduce youth s future involvement with the juvenile justice and the child welfare system. The clienteles that FAP deals with, are parents who are having difficulties with their teenage children and want assistance and guidance with changing the children s behavior and developing a positive relationship. In addition, FAP is the last step before parent files for a Person In Need of Supervision (PINS). FAP would assess the family situation by interviewing parents and children individually and together, they determine the best suitable intervention for the family. If the intervention does not solve the issue or the child refuses to participate, then the alternative is to file a PINS to control the child s behavior. Engaging with some families, I was able to apply four concepts; empathy, boundaries, social taboo and focused listening. In applying these concepts, I was able to identify my obstacles, weaknesses, strengths and develop my social work skills. The following scenarios will focus on my strategies with applying the concepts, the obstacles I encountered and ways in which I could have improved the concepts. Through self reflection, I was able to select four cases where I was able to apply the above mentioned concepts. Empathy. Shulman defined empathy as helping the client

Ruslan thought that Tjut Sari, the photocopy shop girl, was beautiful. In the earlier chapters of the book, it explains how Ruslan would always try to impress Tjut Sari in any way, even if he was just bringing in papers to copy. Now that the tsunami hit, and that killed Tjut Sari, Ruslan is never able to express his feelings towards this girl he liked. Ruslan never tried to make conversation with Tjut Sari, and he will never be able too in life, because she is dead. Through art, humans are able to express their innermost ideas and feelings, without having the difficulty of trying to find the correct words to accurately describe their thought processes. Works of art can help us to understand the people who have come before us. This is evidenced by the knowledge humans have discovered of prehistoric men and their symbolic cave paintings. The expression, style, and meaning vary and archaeologists put in much effort to uncover these works. The first evidence of cave art appeared in Western Europe (Berenguer 67). The animals most commonly depicted are horses, deer, reindeer, bison, ipex, aurochs, woolly rhinoceroses, and mammoths. Sometimes lions and bears are also created, but rarely fish or birds. Humans were also commonly represented (Berenguer 73). Prehistoric men also created abstract designs that have proven hard to identify. They are referred to as signs and a special nomenclature has been developed to better understand their meaning. Tectiforms are generally quadrangular shapes, with crossing vertical lines inside forming a trellis or mesh design. Tectiforms often appear near naturalistic figures of animals. Scutiforms have been thought to represent the female vulva. They are formed by red patches, often in the form of a comma or a key. Other types of signs are penniforms, ramiforms, and claviforms. The exact meanings of most of these signs remain unknown (Berenguer 82). The French scholar Leroi Gourhan formed a theory regarding the animalistic and abstract art representations. He believed all depictions revolved around the law of sex, noting that the philosophy of the prehistoric men concentrated all explanations on sex and sexual relations. Cave art depictions of animals are divided into male and female. The male animals are horses, she goats, and deer. Bison, bovidae, and mammoths are female. The signs are also divided into gender categories. Triangles, rectangles, ramiforms, tectiforms, and scutiforms are

Not only have gasoline vehicles depleted natural resources, they also have caused severe environmental pollutions, especially in some populous nations such as China and India. [1] CO2 is the main contributor of the greenhouse effect. 97% of greenhouse emission is carbon dioxide. And in turn, road transportation has become the largest sector in producing carbon dioxide. [2] Because of the decreasing natural resources and the increasing environmental pollution, scientists focus more on new technologies that can help reduce those consequences. However, even though scientists hope hybrid cars could substitute traditional cars in order to reduce... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most apparent difference is that hybrid cars have an internal combustion engine accompanied by an electric motor. When a car is moving at a low speed, the ICE (internal combustion engine) only provides power to the electric motor and the motor drives the entire vehicle. Thus, an electric motor helps reduce fuel consumption as well as car emission. Moreover, a smarter management of power called the regenerative braking system is introduced to hybrid vehicles. It converts kinetic energy to electrical energy during braking so that heat energy due to friction will not be wasted. The electrical energy can be used to charge the storage battery. [4] In addition, the aerodynamics and weight of the car body are carefully considered so the power supplied to drive the car can be lower than usual. Hybrid cars also have an adaptive strategy at traffic stops and idle periods. The engine shuts down so that exhaust will not accumulate at places such as traffic stops. Apart from technical aspects, governments also take efforts to popularize hybrid cars for home use. In March 2013, the Chinese government extended the subsidy on electrical and hybrid cars for three more years. [3] And in certain traffic crowded cities such as Beijing and Hangzhou, electrical and hybrid cars have privileges on traffic restriction days. Nevertheless, customers still won t buy hybrid cars because they do not believe that the technology is mature enough to replace traditional ICE cars with new energy

  • 17. The Market For A Car You re in the market for a car, but just not any vehicle. Specifically, you re hemmed in by budget restrictions and can spend no more than $5,000, perhaps much less. The reality of the used car market is that even clunkers can cost a few thousand dollars and that s exactly the type of vehicle you want to avoid. However, with some careful research on your part, much patience, as well as satisfactory negotiation skills, you can find a used car for under $5,000. Here s how to do it. Manage Your Expectations You might have a certain make and model in mind when choosing a reliable, low cost used car, but your expectations should align with market realities. And those realities will be confirmed when you shop for a car, study the ads, and research the car valuation sites. First, you should know that car values fluctuate. Indeed, in times when gas prices are high, values of economical cars rise and those for large sedans, SUVs and pickup trucks drop. Conversely, the opposite happens when fuel prices are low. Second, the more particular you are about a brand, especially premium or luxury brands, the more costly a vehicle will be. You may have your eyes set on a BMW, but even a 3 Series approaching 20 years old will cost you. The reliability of an older vehicle becomes an issue; acquiring parts for some foreign models can be pricey. Technology is a State of Mind Very few cars that are less than 10 years old can be had for $5,000 or less. Some compact models or high mileage

In previous time periods authors wrote very structured eventful stories that would often relate to the most common themes of the time, however Postmodernism completely defied this formula. In most cases Postmodern stories do not have story arcs nor do they have common themes. At most, the Post era can be bound by very vague similarities. Most of the stories are conveyed through streams of conscious, which is essentially using an unedited snippet of someone s life to create a story. There are no inner monologues or poetic speeches, rather they only showcase a small scale continuous sliver of life. The narration device similarity is cut and dry, however this can not be said for the themes within Postmodernism. In the vaguest of words, Post era literature can be bound within a common ideal of expressing the terrible and disappointing aspects of life. One of the most commonly attacked aspects of life is the sense of love. In most forms of art and media love is portrayed as a glorious thing so long as it is true. Love can conquer any mountain and defeat any foe, however Postmodernism portrays love in a very different manner. In The Swan as a Metaphor for Love love is compared to a swan. Ultrasound As A Therapeutic Technique Ultrasound as a therapeutic technique in biomedicine Mohammed Sunoqrot School of Engineering, Physics and Mathmatic, University of Dundee Dundee, United Kingdom Abstract Decades ago ultrasound started the participation in medical therapy, these years have yielded diverse applications and methods that play main roles in patients treatment. This review presents some of the mechanisms, methods, and applications of therapeutic ultrasound. Keywords: Ultrasound; therapy; biomedical. I.INTRODUCTION A lot of people think about ultrasound as a diagnostic technology and they don t release the effective role of ultrasound in therapy. In 1927 biological changes have been observed during ultrasound interaction with tissues [1], this observation attracted the attention of scientists and researchers opening their eyes on the possibility of using ultrasound as a therapeutic technology [2]. Ultrasound have two mechanisms to cause biological changes, the first is thermal effect where the absorbed energy raise the tissues temperature for therapeutic purpose [2] [3]. The second is non thermal mechanism where the cyclic or non cyclic waves or pulses will help in some applications [2] [3]. Therapeutic ultrasound divides into two classes, high power and low power. The high power therapy operates with intensity more than 5 W/cm2 and this area s applications include lithotripsy and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) [3] [4]. On the other hand, the low power intensity (0.125

In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, there is one character who shows a tremendous amount of wisdom. Atticus shows his wisdom throughout the story by teaching Scout how to be young wise girl and teaching her how to read and write. Shows Jem how to be wise and knowledgeable , and shows it in the defending of Tom Robinson. As Atticus once advised me to do, I tried to climb into Jem s skin and walk around in it . Said Scout (Lee, 57). That s good advice to give to a young girl that s just getting to know what life is about. It says that Scout would never consider going over to the Radley house because she would be too scared, so she has no understanding of what Jem feels like. If you ll concede the necessity of going to school, we ll go on reading every night just as we always have. Said Atticus to Scout (Lee, 31). Atticus wants Scout to keep going to school, so she can get the education that he never got. Atticus didn t go to school when he was younger. Disadvantages Of Caadmium All of us are well acquainted with the fact that cadmium (Cd) is one of the components of the earth s crust and it will remain present in several places or in different ecosystem on earth i.e., terrestrial, aquatic and others. Benavides et al. (2005) reported that cadmium is one of the most hazardous heavy metals in the atmosphere, soil and aquatic system which is finally going into our food chain and responsible for serious environmental problem and finally leading to the health hazards for the living organism, for instance, mutagenesis, lung cancer, convulsion and brain damage. The alleviation or inhibition of cadmiumin plants has, therefore, caused extensive attention of the whole society (Uraguchi et al., 2009; Wang et al., 2008). It is must to know about cadmium their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cadmium and cadmium compounds are, compared to other heavy metals, relatively water soluble and mobile compound in most soils, generally more bio available and tends to bio accumulate. It induces cell injury and death by interfering with calcium (Ca) regulation in biological system. Cadmium is not essential for plant or animal life (IPCS monographs/WHO1995a; WHO1995b). It is more mobile than zinc but less mobile than nickel. Cadmium is readily accumulated by many organisms, particularly by microorganism and mollusks where the bio concentration factors are in the order of thousands. Its mobility essentially depends on the pH; the metal s adsorption to the soil s solid phase can be multiplied threefold for every unitary increase in pH in a range from 4 to 8. Terrestrial plants may accumulate cadmium in the roots and cadmium is found bound to the cell walls (AMAP 2002). The pH level is one of the most important factors controlling cadmium absorption. Compared with other micropolluants such as Cu or Pb, transfer of Cd to the above ground parts of the plant may be considered as
  • 33. Consequences Of Malingering Malingering. Malingering is the intentional production of false or grossly exaggerated physical or psychological symptoms in order to gain some external incentive (American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Defensiveness on the other hand, is defined as serving to defend or protect. When it comes to malingering though, it is hard to have a promising answer in the end. The DSM does supply a list of which you can, more than likely, suspect malingering but it does not give a proper route to positively state if it is actually malingering. Mental illness can come into play but it is not considered a mutually exclusive phenomenon with malingering. For instance, a person can have depression but feels the need to exaggerate it to get out of the criminal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I do think she did an okay job due to she didn t find out that he was malingering the entire time. In a way I feel like if she would have done one of the Malingering Tests she would have gotten some hints. But of course, I don t know if there was such test for malingering in the 90s. Just imagine how many people got out of jail before there was even a tool to catch malingering. Also the client played it so well, it might have not even mattered. • 36. The Characters Of Life And Death In William Shakespeare s... Rough Draft In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare death is constantly used to demonstrate the attributes of characters to the audience. In this play the protagonist, Hamlet, is set on a course to exact revenge on his treacherous uncle who murdered his father, the king, by a Ghost. In this quest Hamlet puts on a mask of madness when speaking with anyone that he cannot trust entirely and will stop at nothing until he gets vengeance. Within act 5 scene 1 Hamlet sees the skull of an old friend who he knew as a boy, which drastically alters his outlook on life and death. These thoughts contrast greatly with his earlier thoughts and those of other characters that are less sensitive to death. When Hamlet picks up Yorick s skull (5.1.186) immediately his mindset changes and the audience is clearly shown two different sides of Hamlet. When Hamlet first approached the Grave Digger it was merely in disgust of how he handled himself while digging graves. Yet when Hamlet is introduced to Yorick, again, after he has lain in the earth for 3 and twenty years (5.1.175 76) Hamlet is forthwith to remember Yorick as a man and not just a pile of dirt and bone (5.1.187 199) where the audience is shown that Hamlet is still emotional towards death. However, quickly the nostalgia of seeing his old friend wears off, and Hamlet gets and epiphany to which he inquires, To what base uses we may return, Horatio! Why may not imagination trace the noble dust of Alexander, till he find it

Origin And Themes Of Popular Soccer Chants Devin Reddy USSO290Z: Soccer: The Global Game 20 November 2016 Origin and Themes of Popular Soccer Chants The lyrics Walk on, Walk on, With hope in your hearts are belted out by a sea of red as a Liverpool match is about to start. Even though the intonation of the singing might make a choral director cringe, there is no doubt that everyone wearing Liverpool s red jersey knows every word to the song. Sung in unison, the undeniable passion of Liverpool s fans is overwhelming, when they wear their club s crest and colors on their chest and recite their anthem with their voice. This sort of chanting and singing is mainstay in European football, almost as central to the sport as the ball itself. Here, I will define chanting as the reciting or singing a tune or song, often with changed lyrics with respect to the original version of the song, in order to evoke or convey emotions. The term chanting will encompass not only explicitly chanting, but singing and warbling as well, specifically pertaining to European football. Showcasing the power and unity of that club s fans, chanting can be used for a variety of purposes, such as supporting their own club, celebrating after a goal, or even intimidating the opposing club. Some chants, such as Liverpool FC s You ll Never Walk Alone, may be passed down through generations of fans, engrained in that club s identity. However, there are many others which are based off of popular music of the time, which come and go, just as popular

This effective treatment is an specific form of short term psychotherapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is productive in both reducing the amount of times one may purge in a day and diminishing the entire disorder altogether; it is a diverse set of problem specific interventions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike interpersonal psychotherapy, with the use of medication, CBT attains several forms of intervention and models that can be used for certain situations. These forms are tailored not only to the affected patient but also toward the patient s family. There is therapy for the perfect, overprotective, and chaotic family. These forms all have specifics that set their therapeutic sessions apart, but are similar in that they all begin with a technique called joining. Joining is basically an establishment of alliance between the therapist and the family (Killian). Therapists are advised to discover how the family members feel toward the problem in this situation. A way of ensuring family involvement would be to set specific guidelines about the affect patient s behavior and the family s reactions toward the behavior. For example, a therapist may initiate a plan in which the patient must be responsible for replacing the family food in which he/she binges on. This activity will enhance the removal of the rest of the family to be in constant fear for the patient; it will also allow the patient to begin to regain control of one aspect of his/her life. Common goals within this type of family include regulation of emotional availability between the parent(s) and the bulimic patient, facilitation of direct communication, and negotiation of conflict and its resolution (Killian). Besides interventions, there are also models that can be used to deal

Conversely, the written word is limitless in nature, and the length of the autobiography is therefore limitless as well and thus can provide a much more thorough examination of self and portrayal of self to others. Sometimes a self portrait is a statement of how the artist wants to be seen and remembered. Sometimes it s how the artist sees himself. Sometimes they provide a unique perspective that can provide physicians or other medical professionals with psychological, psychiatric or neurologic insights into the artists through their physical renderings. In each case, it is a snapshot in time. On the other hand, the written word, as in an autobiography, is often a chronological accounting of events that takes place over the course of several journals. As in the case of Rousseau s Confessions , it was two distinct works, each part consisting of six books. The events described in Rousseau s Confessions should not be taken as gospel, for the human memory is fallible much as some would like to believe otherwise. There is no doubt however that Rousseau s feelings on the matters he described were as true as he could make them. This showed that he made a valiant attempt to stay true to his own philosophy of humans being fundamentally good by remaining as honest as he feasibly could in his autobiography. In contrast ... Most people approaching the death stage try to avoid the thought of dying because of fear. Some people of religious backgrounds have different opinions about death. Some accept that there is a place reserved for them in heaven right after death, others believe they will reincarnate. Those are the strong believers; if they are a religious person they might believe in only our souls will last forever. However, others fear death because of the pain of death itself, the uncertainty of what will happen to them after death, and the concern for those people and things they will leave behind. Anyone
